and the westwood shirt

I famously had a huge fight with Rosie on stage during tech. I screamed my head off at her and told her to shove the show. She told me my understudy could do just as well as I could, and I said, ‘Fine, I quit!'  I walked off stage wearing purple tights, little flappy shoes, a King Henry VIII balloon pant, a cape, an orb, a scepter, in full beat makeup…  I wandered down the street in full costume, false eyelashes, glitter, everything!“ [Note: For the full story watch the video of Raul at Polly Bergen’s Tribute]
Talking about the constant changes to the show, Raul said "For example, at one point, I wore a Vivienne Westwood shirt that had an image of two guys grabbing each others’ cocks- that had to go. It’s a very famous picture, though, and accurate to the character and time period."

door-maker-gal  asked:

I recall folks going "we'll see a huge resurgence of protest music after this election!" and all i can think is, does anyone remember what happened after punk became big? The 80s happened, that's what.

well, to be fair, punk rock didn’t really become protest music until after the 80′s started- like there was a smattering of left-wing punk bands, but it didn’t really become a fully fledged phenomenon until reagan.

the mythology of punk rock as an intrinsically leftist genre is out of sync with actual history- a more accurate history is that punk rock started as an apolitical edgy thing which used a variety of political imagery for shallow shock value, with an ethos of “all politics is meaningless mannnnnn, it’s all the same if you think about it,” an attitude which is best summed up by that shirt vivienne westwood made which featured both an image of karl marx and nazi iconography.

and then, of course, nazis were able to exploit this for their own purposes, and take root within the scene, causing a great many people to realize, “hey, whoa, i guess politics isn’t so meaningless after all,” and then it took years and years of political conflict before leftists won the turf war over the punk scene. which renders the retroactive attempts to act like punk is intrinsically leftist and right-wing punk was just an aberration kinda hilarious.

it’s not the exact same one, but lets have a look at the description for this fine piece of jewellery….

He may be participating in the stunt, but we all know this necklace wasn’t from Gigi.

Zayn Malik leaves dinner date with blonde Perrie Edwards lookalike
The former One Direction star led the way out of the celeb-favourite spot, closely followed by the beauty, who looked strikingly similar to his Little Mix singer ex.

He’s been linked to a string of gorgeous girls since his shock split from fiancee Perrie Edwards this summer.

And on Thursday night Zayn Malik set tongues wagging again when he left London restaurant Nobu with a mystery blonde.

The former One Direction star led the way out of the celeb-favourite spot, closely followed by the beauty, who looked strikingly similar to his Little Mix singer ex.

Zayn, 22, chose a statement look for his dinner date, rocking a Vivienne Westwood t-shirt with the slogan: ‘I’m not a terrorist please don’t arrest me.’

Zayn’s mystery companion meanwhile matched Zayn with a pair of skintight black jeans, adding a simple grey top under a long-line black coat.

Her blonde hair was left loose, while the beauty added a slick of shimmering eyeshadow.

Zayn looked delighted after his evening out, flashing a big smile for the cameras as he climbed into his car, but it looked like the night may have ended there for the star and his new pal, as she left in a separate car.

A month later, the two were reunited at the Asian Awards and MailOnline interviewed Neelam.Neelam, who recently did the rounds at London Fashion Week, said: 'Zayn’s a nice guy, I’m happy he’s being honoured tonight and I think it will be a great night.’ The star also raised eyebrows by sharing a cosy Instagram shot with another stunning blonde just weeks after he reportedly dumped his girlfriend of four years by text message.
