and the show has suffered for it

I feel like there’s some misunderstanding here with regard to the conversation about Liam and the Belfast concert. I was talking to Brenda @stylinsin about it last night but… No one’s saying that Liam hasn’t suffered extensive damages to his mental health due to fame and other pressures that come with being ¼ of 1D. He has. That’s undeniable and irrefutable. But when you look at previous health-related incidences within the band (Niall having to tour regardless of knee problems [to which he’s now suffered irreparable damages], Harry performing sick and throwing up in between songs, Zayn having to actually leave the band to get a break)… the idea that a show was cancelled because Liam was emotionally/mentally overwhelmed is unfathomable to me. Even Halsey has performed while/after miscarrying. There is no stopping when you are a machine that was designed to churn out money.

When we talk about the rigidity and abusive nature of the music industry, this is it. This is what it looks like. Should any of these people have been touring while struggling with these things? Absolutely not! No! That’s the whole point!! But they did. Liam’s voice regarding his struggles within the band is definitely still being heard, and we should talk about it, because recognizing the validity of mental health/mental illness is important… especially when the discussion takes place in the celebrity realm. But it’s also not unreasonable to believe that there’s still more that isn’t being said about the show.

so many ppl getting pissed at adam over his "cushy" job as though half of them wouldnt jump at the chance to have it themselves

HONESTLY

I would fucking jump at a job like that in a second without even thinking about it.

A nice, well-payed job that utilizes at least part of my skills, whilst leaving me room to do my own thing at the side, and at the same time leaving me with enough funds to not only not have to worry about surviving the week, but also have some left for luxury? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.

The idea of a starving artist who has to suffer for their art so it can have heart is bullshit, along with the idea that all art has to mean something, something more and refined and genius. I had enough of those, especially the second one, from the people I went to art college with.

Sometimes art is just doodling funny comics for the masses. Sometimes art is drawing your favorite shows. Sometimes it’s indulging in your own self-insert wishes. Whatever it is, others have no right to bring you down for it, you do you.

Also, “hurr durr it’s just criticism you need to learn to accept criticism” yeah man, maybe some people don’t want criticism, especially harassment thinly veiled as criticism

i forgot to mention what I love most about ragnarok: that rangarok took all of the character assassination bullshit from the dark world and age of ultron and turned it on its ass.

dark world implies loki killed his father to take the crown? ragnarok makes loki a blassé and nonviolent leader that just dropped his dad off at a nursing home. GOD OF MISCHIEF. not god of death or god of pain and suffering. MISCHIEF. 100% the most in-character Loki Thing he’s done since the first thor movie. not only that but not for one second does thor ever think loki capable of killing their father. because he isn’t.

the dark world makes thor say a bunch of horrible and damaging things to loki? ragnarok has him still struggle with it but legitimately come to rational terms with everything enough to show their disfunctional but ultimately loving relationship.

age of ultron creates the dumbest romantic trope in the history of man between natasha and bruce? ragnarok makes so much fun of it to the point where it’s shown to be as ridiculous as it is.

the dark world AND age of ultron make thor this broody and unfunny mythical being? ragnarok fuckin made sure that was no longer the case because what makes thor so wonderful is his moral compass, aloofness, and kindness.

they literally fixed the infinity gauntlet plot hole in 0.0002 seconds. this movie took everything wrong with the MCU and fuckin fixed it

god, what a movie

Examples of WallFlower Taako

(these will not be in order but here you go @mango-dolphin )

  • Does not show absolutely NO interest during the press conference during the Stolen Century
  • His small talk game is SO bad during Here There be  gerblins “How is everyone liking the adventure so far?”
  • Has little to no idea how to talk to people without using charm person or exposing his true aloof/sarcastic snips
  • He didn’t NEED to charm Tom Bodett at the train station but he had little confidence in what they were doing
  • The awkward silence that came after he tried to have slmall talk over Palmoa’s scones and failed
  • His response “I’m Taako from TV” for the dating show bit in the Suffering Game is a combination of 1. his ego towards his own fame and 2. he has no idea how to sell himself
  • Taako talks more when he’s not around many people
  • That fucking charisma stat is kind of pitiful
  • Lup is clearly the charismatic one without needing to try, Taako got his fame not by his personality alone. Sizzle it up with Taako was him dazzling through unnecessary magical flares along with his cooking
  • During Candlenights Taako just walks around going “macaroons” and literally says nothing else
  • Taako relied on Lup to get him through social situations, when he started his new life not remembering her he taught himself (perhaps subconsciously channeled her) how to put up a fake tv personality

Long Story Short, I love how awkward Taako is in reality. I think its a lovely balance and works so well with Lup in the long run

  • The mortality/immortality issue will be explored
  • Kat is excited for the stunts, especially because theyve just filmed their first ever dual wire stunt
  • Izzy is the new weapons master at the NY institute

  • S3 will air on April 3rd
  • Alisha said that she loves how the realtionships are expanded upon and develop more fthan what is in  the books
  • Jordan will appear, but his story line will be different than in the books
  • If Matt were to give advice to Alec he’d tell him to “Relax and think things through.”
  • Alisha would tell Maia all about forgiveness.
  • Matt and ALisha were discussing werewolf/vampire “relations” and how super speed can be handy ;)
  • Kat would tell Clary to “Trust her gut”
  • Isaiah would tell Luke to “buy some earmuffs and blindfolds because he doesnt want to see what goes on in that boathouse.”
  • We’ll get to see more of Luke’s backstory and the trauma of going form being a shadowhunter to a werewolf.
  • Cleophas will return

okay so i’ve gotten a lot of requests to do a retold fairytale about pocahontas, which is a really reasonable thing to request since i’ve done so many retold tales about disney movies, but here’s the thing

pocahontas the movie is easily one the most messed up things that modern media has ever produced, and i’ll belt out color of the wind like nobody’s business, but that doesn’t change the fact that disney took a history about lying, abduction, rape, and torture and … turned it into a love story. which. what. who thought that was a good idea???

so. look. this is the only retold fairytale i have in me for pocahontas. i know it’s not what anyone who requested this actually wanted, so. sorry.

we’ll keep disney’s aged up premise and characters, because the truth is just too sad to touch at all. we’ll keep pocahontas as her name, because it wasn’t her real name (her real name was matoaka).

okay here we go

we have pocahontas, the young daughter of chief powhatan. she is spirited and flighty, having no fear of jumping off waterfalls or any other manner of dangerous things. what does she fear? growing up, responsibility, having to be a grown woman in her tribe and all that that entails, of being forced into a marriage she doesn’t want.

she grew up with kokoum, she knows him, he is a good man and a strong man, he will provide for her everything she could need or want – but she doesn’t think that’s a good enough reason to marry him. he’s a good leader, he’ll probably be elected to replace her father when the time comes, and she will move on from being the daughter of the chief to the wife of the chief.

something in her rankles at being the daughter of, the wife of, to being just ‘of’ anything.

Bruises On Another (part seven)

Prompt: Steve doesn’t know where they come from, and he isn’t exactly sure why they’re there. All he knows is that his body is littered in bruises, and there’s something different about them. They aren’t just bruises, and they certainly didn’t come from a trip in a step or clumsiness. No, Steve knows there’s more behind the marks that litter his body.

THIS IS A SERIES: one - two - three - four - five - six - seven - eight - finale

Pairing: Slow!Burn Steve x Reader

Warnings: marks, bruises, pain, physical abuse, force, sexual inclinations, etc. I mean no disrespect to anyone or to upset anyone, this story starts off rough but I can say that things will get better.

A/N: I hope you all enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Send me a little comment in the ask section or leave it below on what you thought of this chapter. It doesn’t have to be long, I appreciate every single comment I receive and telling me just helps inspire me to write it more frequently.

Oh! And just to be clear, this derives from canon plot. While Nancy still broke up with Steve and the whole Halloween party still happened, the events with the demodog and everything doesn’t- mainly because it wouldn’t fit with how i’d like to take my story. So I hope you all don’t mind.

P.S. This a soulmate AU.

I will NO LONGER be adding anyone to the Tag’s List!

Steve stared at the disappearing figure of your father’s car, sighing heavily in thought. He hesitated in chasing after you, debating whether that really was the right decision. It almost seemed as if you didn’t want him to help you, but then Steve remembered the fear in your eyes when you’d screamed out in terror. He had you in his arms, you were safe and then suddenly you were just gone.

Steve had you- and in that one short moment he’d actually seen you smile. And then it just vanished.

You were afraid, Steve knew, and that’s why you pushed him away. The unknown- you didn’t know what would happen to you or him if Steve fought your father or had said something, so you’d pushed him away just like he’d seen you push everyone else away these past few days. Steve may have only known you for a short amount of time but that afternoon he felt as if he learned so much about you. The vulnerability in your eyes had broke his heart, your severe lack of confidence had rendered him speechless.

Steve didn’t know if the abuse had been happening your whole life or more recently, but none of it mattered. What your father has done to you has turned you into nothing, something to be used and abused. And Steve knew that you were more than that- everyone was more than that. You needed help, needed someone to guide you into the light and show you what love and care looked like.

And Steve wasn’t willing to let you suffer. Damn what would happen to him- damn if you hated him forever. Your father had seemed angry, angrier than Steve’d ever seen anyone else, and he wasn’t willing to let that pathetic excuse for a man lay one more hand on you.

Making his decision, he begun running towards his car. Steve wasted no time in opening his door, practically falling into the drivers seat and turning on the engine. He sped out of his parking spot, rushing to reach your house. You’d gotten a head start but he was determined to reach you before anything bad happen.

It wasn’t a long drive but to Steve it felt like forever, until finally he turned down the street of your house. You’d probably been home for a good ten to twenty minutes already and Steve felt his heart beating rapidly against his chest in fear of what your father had already managed to do to you. Once parked on the side of the road, Steve practically swung open his door and stepped out. He took quick steps and practically ran up the stairs to your porch, reaching your front door in seconds.

Steve could hear, even from his car, yelling from your father and soft cries that he could only assume came from you. He felt anger spike at his heart and his chest tighten in disgust at the man who pretended to be your father. Luckily for Steve, your father had left open the door and practically slamming it open, Steve stepped into the house.

It didn’t take him long to find you, and as he did your father swung his fist down directly smacking you in the face. You cried out in pain and Steve felt is eyes widen in surprise, before a sudden shock of pain ran through him. He gripped the same place your father had hit you, only on his own face in pain and let out a groan. Steve wondered why that one time it’d hurt, when none of the bruises that your father had inflicted on you had never hurt him.

But none of that mattered because the moment Steve recovered, he found both yours and your father’s eyes on him. He met yours, hating the pain behind them as you cried desperately. Though it almost seemed as if you were relieved at the sight of Steve, and Steve felt his soft eyes spike in anger as they met your fathers.

“Father!”

You groaned out in pain as your father practically kicked you into the house, falling to the ground with a loud thud. You spun around quickly, knowing your father was just behind you and watched with desperate eyes as he closed the door. The lights weren’t on in the house and you watched with despair as the door was shut and whatever light you had disappeared before your very own eyes. The dark had always scared you, but your fear of it had only grown when the abuse had started. “Father, please-”

“You whore!” Your father belted out, leaning over your body. You cried out in fear, crawling back as fast as you could. “Get up!” Knowing better than to delay, you rushed up so you were on your feet and held your head high as your father gripped you with a bruising force. “What were you doing with that boy?” Your father asked and you shook your head, about to explain. But before you could answer, he spoke; “I thought I told you to stay away from him.”

“I tried-”

He tightened his grip and you let out a groan as your jaw ached in pain. “Forty minutes late- forty minutes spent with that boy. Steve was it? Do you take me for a fool?”

“No,” you sobbed, shaking your head as best at you could. “No, please, father I didn’t mean to-”

“I don’t care!” Your father interrupted, roughly shoving your head away. You struggled to stay balanced, feeling your knees grow weak beneath you and your whole body shake. You felt like you might pass out, your ears ringing from the volume your father was speaking at. You should’ve stayed with Steve- you should’ve…

What did you do to deserve this?

“Dad please!” You haven’t called your father ‘dad’ in so long, the last time you had he’d beat you for not showing him enough respect. But you were so desperate to have your dad back, to have the father you once had- you’d try anything. “I’m sorry.” You cried out, feeling every bit of defiance leave you and all hope disappear. You just wanted your dad back.

“I’m not your dad.” Your father spat, his voice this time much more quiet. Your eyes widened upon his words and meeting his eyes, you tried to see through the blur of your tears. What did he mean?

Your father took a step forward and you flinched when his hand reached out towards you. “And you’re certainly not my daughter.” His hand moved towards your neck, grabbing ahold of the necklace you so dearly cared for. It felt like your heart stopped as he gripped it and time slowed down as you cried out, begging him not to touch it. “And you certainly aren’t hers.” Then before you knew it, the necklace was ripped from your neck, falling to the ground pathetically.

Time slowed as you watched it hit the ground. Falling to your knees, you grabbed the ruined necklace with shaky hands, not quite believing what had just happened.

“You killed her.”

You missed the door open and Steve step through as your father roughly grabbed the necklace and chucked it across the room. Then before you knew it there was a sharp pain radiating through your cheek and you were falling back, crying out in pain. It wasn’t until you heard a manlier cry, one that wasn’t your fathers, did you noticed Steve. And glancing up at him, you met his eyes with tears in your own.

He’d come…

Steve had come to help you-

Then his eyes left yours.

“You son of a bitch!” Steve bellowed out and took a step before you.

“You’re the boy who’s been-” Your father never got to finish his sentence before Steve punched him across the face so hard he stumbled back in surprise. It just so happened that as he stumbled back, he tripped over his own two feet in dizziness and fell to the ground. You watched with wide eyes, the tears seizing as he fell and his eyes closed in shock.

Then there was a hand gripping your arm, pulling you up. “Come on.” Steve’s soft voice filled your ears. “Come on, Y/N. I’ve got you- i’m not gonna let him hurt you anymore.” He pulled you up to your feet and begun leading you out the door. You didn’t fight him, your eyes staying glued to your fathers before you were suddenly outside and entering Steve’s car.

He set you in the passenger’s seat gently, buckling you up himself before making his way around to his own seat. The moment Steve sat in his car, he turned to you as your eyes stayed glued before you. Steve watched you, waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever did, and eventually you turned to meet his eyes.

“Y/N-”

“He was going to kill me.” You whispered, meeting Steve’s eye and Steve shook his head. What you said was true, he just didn’t know how to respond. “My father- my dad wanted to kill me.”

“It’ll be okay.” Steve reassured and you shook your head.

“How?”

“I’m taking you to the police.” Steve answered. “I’m taking you to the chief.”

Daenerys Targaryen: At this point, it’s just bad story-telling

The most important element of GRRM’s style of story-telling is that it follows certain key monomythic structures of story-telling, which form the heart of a good story. This structure is not followed for everyone - arguably, there are less than ten characters for whom Martin has painstakingly wrought a full arc.

Here is Dan Harmon’s (creator of Rick and Morty, [Adult Swim]) explanation of how he uses it, as mentioned on his blog (link to his tumblr included) [btw, this is a great read, and is the first part of a series about how to plot out a good story. If you’re an author, or aspiring, I highly recommend checking it out.]

Draw a circle and divide it in half vertically.

Divide the circle again horizontally.

Starting from the 12 o clock position and going clockwise, number the 4 points where the lines cross the circle: 1, 3, 5 and 7.

Number the quarter-sections themselves 2, 4, 6 and 8.

Here we go, down and dirty:

. A character is in a zone of comfort,
. But they want something.
. They enter an unfamiliar situation,
. Adapt to it,
. Get what they wanted,
. Pay a heavy price for it,
. Then return to their familiar situation,
. Having changed.

He summarizes it something like this. I think.

Hero - Want - Go - Fight - Get - Suffer - Return - Changed

There are the obvious characters for whom this arc has been granted - Jon and Daenerys and Tyrion and Arya.

And there are the less obvious ones - Theon, Sansa, Jaime, Sandor, Sam, and yes, even Cersei.

Now, the books and the show aren’t complete, but with the prevalence of so many parallel plotlines, they move back and forth within this circle repeatedly.

Here’s Jon’s first arc, for instance - he is safe in Winterfell, he wants to be a knight, he goes to the Wall, he becomes a brother, he realizes the Wall is manned by criminals and unwanted sons, he is horribly disillusioned, he realizes he can never go back.

Here’s another arc - he wants to prove himself, he goes beyond the Wall with the Halfhand’s party, he gets captured by the wildlings, he murders Qhorin to gain their acceptance, he betrays Ygritte, he returns to the Wall, broken-hearted.

Fast-forward to the show canon - he wants to take back Winterfell, he leaves the Wall with Sansa after having won repeatedly against the wildings and established himself as a notable commander, he fails to recruit the Northern Houses, he assembles an army, he watches Rickon be murdered, he loses to the Boltons and is saved by Sansa, he returns to Winterfell.

Between arc 1, and arc 3, there is a larger arc at play - when he is at Winterfell he’s deeply dissatisfied with his social status, so he leaves Winterfell to become a ‘black knight’, he adapts to the Night’s Watch, he becomes a leader, he loses his lover, his father, his family, his brothers, he becomes the Lord Commander, he returns to Winterfell as King, but now with no ambition except keeping his people alive and safe.

This. This is good storytelling.

This is what makes Jon Snow such a compelling figure. Because he fucking suffers, and it affects him.

It alters him.

It makes him a better man, a better friend, a better commander.

This does not happen with Daenerys.

If anything, her arc is in reverse.

Look at her first arc - she starts off in a terrible position, she is raped, repeatedly, by her husband, and abused emotionally and physically by her brother (let’s just go with show canon, since GRRM apparently green-lit this nonsense). Clearly, not a position of comfort or safety, but it goes some way in establishing her as a sympathetic character.

Her ascent cycle begins - she seduces her husband, sidelines her brother and watches him die, becomes a Khaleesi in her own right, has her husband promise her to take back Westeros.

(Note at this point this she’s enabling slavery - the Dothraki trade in slaves. Dany personally is served by three slaves. The Lhazareen women she ‘saves’ she does so by taking in as her personal slaves. But there’s plenty of metas about Dany’s White Saviour trope. You don’t need mine.)

(Note also, that she is perfectly happy for her husband’s horde to rain havoc, bloodshed and destruction on her own country. At no point does this trouble her, that if the Dothraki cross the Narrow Sea, the women that will be raped, the men that will be murdered, the children that will be orphaned - they will be her subjects. But there’s metas aplenty on this as well, Dany’s all-consuming lust for power. You really don’t need mine.)

When Drogo dies, and her baby dies - she suffers, yes, for about the span of five minutes. She loses the khal, and replaces it with? Dragons.

She suffers what, in the universe this story is set in, amounts to, at best, a MINOR SETBACK, and has this addressed by gaining MYTHICAL WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.

This is Daenerys’ arc, (along with the most vocal, popular reactions)

So, she starts off low (awww),
becomes a Khaleesi, (yay!),
loses her rapist, destructive, murderous husband, (…awww),
becomes a Mother of Dragons, (YAY!)
advances onto Astapor, (YAY!)
gains a slave army, (YAY!)
marches on to Yunkai (YAY!),
loses Jorah, (…aw.),
conquers Meereen (YAY!)
destroys the economies of three cities, (…)
does nothing except throw a fit when Barristan is murdered by the Sons (…)
is almost murdered by the Sons of the Harpy (..awww??)
saved by Drogon (YAY!)
taken by the Khals to Vaes Dothrak (awww)
murders the Khals, and burns their most important religious site to the ground, to free herself from being sold into slavery* (YAY!)
sails to Westeros. (YAY!)
with three mythical, all-powerful weapons of destruction (YAY!)

*Oh, the fucking irony.

And so her character stays within the same loop of -

  • Arrive at new place.
  • Intimidate via dragon.
  • Murder those who get in her way.
  • Instate herself as Queen.
  • Rage when the people refuse to accept her.

Astapor, when she cannot actually afford to buy the Unsullied:

Yunkai, when the City sends a diplomat:

Meereen, at the fighting pits:

Slaver’s Bay, after Tyrion’s peace talks fail and the Cities’ economies are on the verge of collapse:

The sheer profusion of victories accorded to her character is frankly insane.

She never loses anyone she cares about, because she cares about no one. She says it herself. Over, and over. Westeros isn’t a country, a people, a culture. It is reduced, for her, to a pointy chair, and the legacy of her mad, murderous ancestors.

If the smallfolk must die, let them.
If the soldiers must die, let them.
If the Lords must die, let them.

She’s callous to the point of psychopathy, and so, I repeat.

SHE.

NEVER.

SUFFERS.

Even Cersei, arguably the series primary remaining antagonist has suffered far worse than the woman they’re pushing as the Saviour-Hero.

Cersei loses her father,
loses all three of her children,
watches her son die in her arms,
is tortured in a dungeon,
is made to parade naked through the streets of her own city,
is heaped with literal excrement and abuse and the kind of horror that would break anyone.

Sansa loses her father,
her mother,
her oldest brother, her youngest brother,
she is beaten and humiliated in front of her peers,
subjected to Petyr’s advances,
repeatedly beaten and raped by Ramsay Bolton,
forced to look at her Father’s decapitated head,
forced to look at her ally in Winterfell, dead and skinned
bypassed by the Northern Lords for her bastard brother even though her efforts turned the tide of a war Jon Snow lost.

Jaime loses his father,
is betrayed by his brother, who joins the enemy,
loses all three of his children,
watches his daughter die in his arms,
loses his sword hand,
is tortured by brigands,
is called Kingslayer for saving a city from burning to the ground.

I could go on, but the point is this -

Daenerys has lost nothing.
Daenerys has gained everything.

If she survives this story, if she initiates the Targaryen Restoration, if she takes the Iron Throne easily, not only does it devalue the entire point of A Song of Ice and Fire, it is a step backward for the story - a series that has devoted itself to destroying fantasy tropes, deconstructing human ambition, and reminding us, again and again and again, that the most important battles are the ones that fought in our hearts.

It is a betrayal on a scale that spans two decades of ambitious, brilliant, life-changing work.

It reduces the worth of everything they’ve constructed so far.

It isn’t the show we were promised.

But it could be.

The Reunion

Whether you liked or disliked season 4, there’s one thing for certain-

You’re happy Matt is finally back and safe

And the reunion scene between Pidge and Matt after all the emotions and build up in the show-

I’m not crying you’re crying

It was (one of) the most satisfying and happiest scene(s) we’ve gotten so far in the series for us and for the characters of the show.

However, this isn’t the reunion I wanted to talk about. No, the reunion I want to talk about is

The reunion between Shiro and Matt

People loved that Shiro and Matt finally found each other after so long and after all the build up in the series, and I was happy that they finally found each other too but… I can’t help but feel like something’s off and after a couple of seconds of watching the scene I had realized

The scene was beyond underwhelming

Because they meet each other after so long with all this build up for what?

 A small bro hug?

I thought this is not how it was supposed to go, the build up and emotions and just-

WHERE IS IT???

Now, here’s why I find this scene so underwhelming:

Pidge and Shiro are the ones closest to Matt and both want him back well and alive and miss him with all their hearts. Obviously, they’re both going to miss Matt in different ways because for Pidge, Matt is her older brother she was close to. In the flash backs, one of them was a show of how smart Pidge is but it also showed how lonely she was had felt with it. Matt helps her see that her smart brain is not a curse but an awesome gift. She relies on him. Pidge misses her brother.

For Shiro, Matt is his friend (depending on the backstory we get with those two they might be best friends even). They graduated together, went on an important space exploration together and suffered together (and separately). They’ve gone through big and small together and they’re both close. Shiro misses his friend.

Along with missing Matt, Shiro has a prominent thing about himself that makes this scene so underwhelming

There is such a thing as Survivor’s Guilt

Now Survivor’s guilt “is a mental condition that occurs when a person believes they have done something wrong by surviving a traumatic event when others did not” It’s also a significant symptom of PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Now we know that Shiro suffers from PTSD, I don’t need to explain why because everyone already knows. It’s canon.

But with PTSD (depending on the situation), there’s a high chance of Survivor’s Guilt. It’s “ a significant symptom of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).” It’s a part of having that PTSD.

So what’s to stop Shiro’s PTSD from causing him to be alone with his thoughts and overthink what he knows and convinces himself that Matt and Samuel aren’t as okay as he wants to believe?

What’s to stop Shiro’s PTSD from causing him nightmares where he watches Matt and Samuel die in front of his eyes and feel like he could have saved them but didn’t?

What’s to stop Shiro’s PTSD from making him feel guilty about escaping and leaving Matt and Samuel in the clutches of the Galra and possibly dying when he was able to get away alive?

What’s to stop Shiro’s PTSD from making him pour out all his built up emotions and guilt that he’s been hiding for the sake of the team and universe after finally seeing Matt right there in front of him, touching Matt right there in front of him, hearing Matt right there in front of him, feeling Matt’s heartbeat right there as he hugs him, having Matt alive right there in front of him?

What I’m trying to say is:

Shiro cares about Matt a lot, it’s been established in the show. Shiro saves Matt from suffering in the Gladiator arena. Shiro cares about Matt’s (and Samuel’s) family by taking Pidge under his wing as a brother figure for her. Shiro misses Matt and I don’t understand why the scene is the way it is. I needed more and there was supposed to be more but it’s not there.

Now there is the argument that Pidge had told the team on their way back that she had in fact found Matt and Shiro would be anticipating Matt’s return

but there would still be those built up emotions that were never shown and it leaves me feeling that-

There’s something off about Shiro

It could be the clone theory, it could be something else but there’s something off about Shiro and it has to do with the Galra and when he disappeared at the end of season 2. There’s something wrong with him and this was the biggest red flag that gave me the biggest feeling of this in season 4.

And at the very least,

This scene could have been so much more

Say No to the “Strong Struggle”

I feel like when people say “struggling makes you stronger” to black women, it’s bullshit. You shouldn’t have to suffer to grow. Growth can be achieved without pain or poverty or hurt. It can be achieved without going through dysfunction or without basic things you need like familial love and friendship. It’s possible. I don’t know why people insist black women should shoulder needless pain and struggle to become ‘stronger’ when no one else has to. Or at least, no one else is constantly told to!!

Black women are allowed to go without being strong. They are allowed to be fragile and protected and sheltered. They can cry and hold grudges and be salty about the unfairness of other people and society. We DON’T need to be martyrs or Jesus with the stake in his hand, pillars of perfect suffering to show the resiliency of the human spirit. We are people, just like everyone else.

Let yourself cry, be mad, whatever. Sit in the hurt for once or you will never heal, like your mother and her mother. Stop painting over your pain with the tired, old excuse of “it will make you stronger”.

Maybe it will. But I was not born to suffer for some messed up idea of gaining strength! I can grow as a person without absorbing any and all pain.

No:

  • Evan lied because of his social anxiety! He meant well! He’s innocent!

Yes:

  • Evan has social anxiety and meant well for the Murphys, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that he lied and didn’t really make anything better.

No:

  • Connor Murphy is a pure sweet cinnamon roll uwu!!!! So Softe™ And Goode™

Yes:

  • Connor Murphy suffered from an untreated mental illness that caused him to take his own life, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that he was an abusive, bad person. The version of Connor that we see for the majority of the show is pretty much Evan’s OC, and doesn’t reflect who Connor really was.

Feel free to add more because I hate people excusing the actions of the characters in Dear Evan Hansen on account of their mental illnesses.

let people with adhd show symptoms without making them feel bad!!! stop degrading children with the condition as naughty little brats and instead realize that they suffer from a mental health disorder!!! don’t tell bright young minds that they will never amount to anything because of the way they are!!! symptoms are symptoms and no matter how hard one tries, it can’t always be controlled!!! let people with adhd be themselves without making them feel ashamed to be themselves!!!
