and the panels weren't even his

1. In Deep Trouble, Marco says "I have very absent parents". They seem immature, yes, but irresponsible? I wouldn't say that. BTW, do we know if either of them even works anywhere? Whenever they appear, they always just seem to have fun and vacations. 2. Young Moon looks a lot like Star - but also Dirt (or his mask anyway) looks a lot like older Marco, even his suit's color scheme... I'm nervous (as if the recent developments in the show itself weren't bad enough), could this be foreshadowing?..

1. Well Marco didn’t say anything about them being irresponsible, just absent. They might still have been good parents: they clearly love Marco a lot, and they enjoy spending time together as a family.

Rafael is an artist, confirmed by Daron

While Angie’s job, if she has one, is still unknown. It’s probably best not to think too much about it, this panel in the comic might just be an in universe explanation to Marco’s parents never being around to tell them not to go risk their lives in another dimensions. But that’s a “meta” thing. In their world, I they’re not bad parents, despite everything.

Ok, they didn’t end up paying more attention to them, yet, but hey, that’d make the show SO BORING.

2. I think that it was just a way for the comic artist to wink at the fans. A not so subtle reference, with different roles from the current generation, though. I wouldn’t read too much into it.
But maybe I’m wrong.

Remember, though: the comics are canon, but I don’t think they’re going to influence the actual show, they just give us something more about its characters and its world
