and that he may betray her

Shiro and the Black Lion meta: “You Saved Me.”

I’ve been wanting to write this meta for a while, because after season 2 came out I’ve seen a lot of people characterise the Black Lion as disloyal or fickle, and I don’t think this is the case. I think the Black Lion is extremely loyal to Shiro, and very closely bonded to him; and I think she probably hates Zarkon as much as Shiro does. That might be a strange conclusion to come to after she literally spat Shiro out in the season 1 finale, so let’s break this down a little bit:

If you leave aside the incident in 1x11, the rest of the show portrays the Black Lion and Shiro as very closely bonded. In 1x02 Shiro is the only Paladin who’s able to do the nosedive exercise. At this point he’s been piloting the Lion for like… a couple of days MAX, but he’s able to bond with her to the point that he can see through her eyes. So far, we haven’t seen any of the other Paladins pull this off. The Lion/Paladin bond is a two-way thing - we see that clearly with Red and Keith - so we have to assume that this bonding moment is not just down to Shiro’s calm focus. It’s also coming from Black.

You can also see Black’s willingness to bond with Shiro in 2x07. Shiro goes down to the hangar, sits in the Lion, and goes: “Work with me. What do I have to do to strengthen our bond?” And the Lion is like: “YES BONDING! ALRIGHT! LET’S GO!!” She immediately powers up and whisks Shiro off on a spiritual journey. She invites Shiro to see through her eyes, and shows him her history and how she was made. Shiro asks ‘what do I have to do to strengthen our bond?’ and the Lion’s answer is 'you need to understand my history and where I come from’. And again - we’ve not seen any of the other Lions do this. Shiro is the only Paladin whose Lion has opened up about their past or told their Paladin this kind of visual story.

None of this is consistent with the characterisation of the Black Lion as disloyal. It certainly doesn’t seem like she mistrusts or dislikes Shiro, right? If anything, she seems positively eager to open up to him.

Which brings me to my theory about the Black Lion: I don’t think she’s fickle, or contrary, or lowkey still into her ex. I don’t think she likes Zarkon at all, or misses him, or wants him back as her Paladin.

I think she’s traumatised.

More under the cut, because sweet quiznak did this get long:

Hey there everyone! WHOO! Finally got a reprieve, as I’m done with my drawings for my final project, now I have to continue typing the written parts.

Done largely in part because I love the lore, practice drawing human characters, and to pass the time whenever I need a breather from from college.

While researching for the lore of Dark Souls for my In-progress AU Comic, I noticed how LARGE the mythology of Dark Souls and the deities that reside, along with the fan speculation of which god corresponds with whom and etc. In spite of all this, from what I can tell, outside of Gwyn’s family, there has never been a, for lack of a better term, “compendium piece” of the gods and goddesses of dark souls, so I made my own :D

Because some gods are not represented in imagery, I decided to design how they might look if they ever showed up amongst mortals. I owe a lot to Tumblr, Reddit and the DS fandom as a whole, the amount of theory and lore discussions are always gold, and of course, the lore-lords like @vaatividya and @silver-mont, their vids are always interesting to watch :)

From the Top Row: The Bearers of the Lord Souls

Gravelord Nito: No need for an explanation here xD

Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight: Drawing him was easy, but here I wanted portray a very stern, no-nonsense god king who really, REALLY is someone you don’t want to piss off, and someone who is almost NEVER happy and/or satisfied.

The Witch of Izalith: I’m honestly surprised there’s not much fanart of how her face might look like, so I pitched in. She basically resembles her daughters, but with a more matriarchal vibe, with a stronger jawline and sharper eyes to reflect that. She’s also very tall, towering over Gwyn and just slightly edging out NK in height.

The Furtive Pygmies, featuring Manus and a Pygmy Lord: With the Ringed City revealing that there were SEVERAL pygmies, I had quite some fun with the speculation and possibilities of how the Pygmies as a whole looked like.

Personally? I simply interpret them as humans but more, with more power over the dark soul, but otherwise having different roles in society like regular folk, the Ringed Knights are Warriors, the Lords are the rulers, etc.

I put Manus amongst them, why? Because no way should ONE man be able to have THAT much abyss power just because he’s a human. Since the dark soul is divided amongst humans, I interpret him having a huge chunk of the Dark Soul (as per these two threads), and thus was simply a mighty sorceror who happened to be really, REALLY old, even by Pygmy standards. Plus I always wondered… How does one torture a dead man? The Mad King was described as undying, so according to my own logic, he wasn’t totally “dead” when he was buried. His grave could signify him wanting a modicum of peace, after all, his entire race was basically put in a glorified prison by Gwyn… Sensing the growing madness within him (probably due to sheer isolation), he probably decided to “die” on his own terms in Oolacile… then future idiots proceeded to listen to TOTALLY NOT SUSPICIOUS AT ALL SERPENT and dug up his grave.

The random Pygmy Lord is basically representing one of the first Pygmy Lords.

Second Row: The Children of the Gods

The Nameless King, Firstborn of Gwyn, God of War: In a short period of time, has become my favorite character amongst the gods… There’s so much of a story to tell from him, his relationship with his family, the reasons as to WHY he betrayed the dragons, and thanks to lore threads a-plenty, I interpret him as one of the most honorable and dedicated of the gods. He watches over his warriors of sunlight even if they ARE humans (whom Gwyn HATES) AND he protects Dragons. Despite meI head-canoning him bigger than Gwyn and is in general a wall of muscle and armor, he’s STILL shorter than his sisters.

Gwynevere, Goddess of Fertility: Gwynevere here I interpret as one of the nicer gods, so I made her expression to reflect such. Because Gwyndolin’s illusion of her may be simply him projecting what he remembers most of her and thus potentially exaggerating certain aspects, I toned down a lot the “Aphrodite-esque” glamor, in favor of a more personable look, though still decked out.

Filianore: The daughter we know even less of than Gwynevere, but thanks to a certain reddit thread that discussed how dedicated NK was to her via the floral carvings that is present in Archdragon peak… She must have been someone who NK was VERY close with, so I interpret her as the “Always trying to bring life to the family” kind of sister, though closest to her eldest brother.

Gwyndolin: The Dark Sun himself. Not much else to say here, I just wanted to draw him happy for once… Because WHY FROM? He really, really needs it.

The Daughters of Chaos

Quelana, Mother of Pyromancy: Due to her own title, I interpret her as the Studious Daughter, incredibly dedicated to her craft and always finding out ways to further her pyromancy… Until the Chaos Flame incident happened of course… Then she became wracked with survivor’s guilt…

I also interpret her as being the responsible one looking out to make sure her sisters don’t do anything too brash… Though in hindsight, that would make her suvivor’s guilt worse.

Quelaag: The most well known Chaos Daughter, and whom I interpret as The Aggressive Daughter, hence why she’s the only one of the sisters with a melee weapon. As the most in-your-face daughter I head-canon that she is the one who lowers down her hood the most, especially when she feels like challenging someone. Also VERY protective of her family.

Quelaan, The Fair Lady: Last but not least, I interpret Quelaan as always having been the shyest and nicest of the daughters. Her hood is more drooped down compared to Quelana, to highlight her shyness.

Fun fact, while trying to find her real name, turns out the name Quelaan was the name the community gave to her, and just became established fanon, so I just opted to name her just that.

Third Row: Other Members of the Larger Pantheon

All-Father Lloyd: Gwyn’s uncle, founder of the Way of White. Now there IS speculation that he’s not real, but here I interpret as the real deal, and thus looks like a wimpier, older version of Gwyn, yet still has an aura of authority. I used a bit of Paladin Leeroy for his crown, because I interpret that, when he REALLY needs to get his hands dirty, he too wields a mace, setting an example to all paladin-esque worshipers after him.

His clothes are tattered despite being the godly equivalent of a pontiff, to highlight two things:

One, despite him being a “lord”, his tattered look is to signify he is not “above” the rabble/his followers.

Two, I head-canon him becoming slowly more insane and full of hate toward the undead,as more and more of his family and friends either dies off or leaving home… He eventually disappears for unknown reasons and becomes forgotten.

Fina, Goddess of Love: The most popular candidate for Gwyn’s wife, or at least his first, I wanted to design her with the Embraced Set in mind, just modified to look more queenly rather than armor. Going by the general fanon, I interpret her as the mother of both NK and Gwynevere, but due to unknown circumstances, just up-and-left. Why? I dunno I haven’t thought that deep :(

Also wanted to try out and giving her a different look, skin-tone and facial wise compared to all the other gods and goddesses out there.

Velka, Goddess of Sin: My favorite goddess, her lore and weaponry associated with her is cool, but even with DS3 and all its DLC, I wish we got to know more of her and how she even became the one to hold the title of “goddess of sin” and how she absolves it. She is also, I noticed in fan-art and fanfic, the other most popular candidate for Gwyn’s wife.

Due to the fact that both Gwyndolin and Filianore are associated with illusions and magic, I interpret her as the mother of Filianore and Gwyndolin. She has sharp features and very pale skin, and share’s Filianore’s dark hair.

For her design, I compared aspects of the Statue of Velka from DS3, and both Oswald of Carim and Cromwell the pardoner. I didn’t want her to strictly dress like Oswald and Cromwell, so I incorporated more feathers to her outfit to give her a more “regal” look, as befitting a goddess, and not just pardoner. Funnily enough, with her book of sins and outfit, she also gives the aura of a medieval judge.

Caitha, Goddess of Tears: The third goddess associated with Carim, and one that I intentionally kept her eyes hidden. Mentioned in both 2 and 3, I want to reflect her constant “mourning” nature, and since ‘Gentle Prayer’ is associated with her chime in DS3, I thought her being in a position of prayer would be most appropriate.

Nahr Alma, God of Blood and Murder: Take Titchy Gren, make him more beast-like in proportion, now make him the size of Father Ariandel with the animalistic agility of the Orphan of Kos or Slave Knight Gael, and you have the God of Blood himself. I interpret him as a kind of god that is shunned by the rest, and is mostly treated as an attack dog, and nothing more. REALLY resents the other gods.

If you don’t think McGonagall was invited to James and Lily’s wedding you’re wrong
  • She was in her office working late one night when she heard tapping on the window; it was an owl, carrying a letter labelled « Minnie »
  • So of course she knew who it was from
  • ngl she teared up a little at the thought that Lily and James were getting married, in spite of the war, and that they’d invited her to the wedding
  • She wondered for a (very short) while if it would be appropriate for her to attend her former students’ wedding, but oh who was she kidding - this was James Potter and Lily Evans, of course she was going
  • She showed up in a long bottle green silk dress, and a high bun with green feathers sprouting from it
  • Of course Sirius was the first to spot her when she arrived
  • He offered her his arm (« you look ravishing tonight, Minnie ») and escorted her to her seat
  • She didn’t even try to conceal her tears during the ceremony
  • she was so proud
  • later Marlene dares Sirius to ask McGonagall for a dance
  • Sirius looks offended
  • « I don’t need to be dared to ask Minnie for a dance! I was going to anyway! »
  • « Minnie, would you care to dance with me? »
  • « Mr Black, I hardly think this would be appropriate! And may I ask again that you stop using that name! »
  • « Come on Minnie, you know you love it. One dance? »
  • *deep sigh from McGonagall*
  • « Alright, Black. One dance »
  • Sirius winks at James as he dances with McGonagall
  • James is dancing nearby with Lily
  • He looks so betrayed it’s comical
  • « Excuse me Lily I must go dance with Minnie right now »
  • Lily rolls her eyes
  • « sometimes I wonder if you don’t love her more than you love me » she groans
  • but she smiles and goes off to dance with Alice
  • James approaches Sirius and McGonagall and clears his throat
  • « excuse me, Minnie, do you think I could have this dance? »
  • Sirius looks bewildered (« uh, mate, can’t you see I’m dancing with Minnie?? »)
  • « Ah, yes, Padfoot, but this is my weeding. I do what I want »
  • To their surprise, McGonagall nods, « you know, Black, Mr Potter’s got a point.. »
  • James smirks at Sirius, who stares at them for a second then stomps away mumbling to himself like the drama queen that he is
  • McGonagall may tell James how proud she is of him while they dance
  • James may find his eyes to be a wee bit watery for a second
  • After a while, Sirius reappears
  • James starts to make a speech about how Sirius should quit trying already (« I am the groom, Padfoot, therefore I am the one who gets to dance with Minnie » *severe eye-rolling from McGonagall*)
  • but Sirius cuts him off by saying « Prongs, I didn’t come here to ask Minnie to dance with me. I came to ask you. »
  • « Oh. Well in that case » — he turns to McGonagall — « Minnie, if you’ll excuse us »
  • James takes Sirius by the waist and they start dancing
  • Almost half an hour later, Lily sits down next to a grinning McGonagall and sighs « you know, sometimes I wonder if he doesn’t love him more than he loves either or us »
  • it is february 1980 when they meet at a funeral
  • they are two red-haired women, one pureblood and one muggleborn, but neither of them care because blood does not matter
  • (except that it does. except that this whole stupid war is about blood)
  • they are two red-haired women with the future of the wizarding world growing in their bellies
  • and this is how it goes
  • gideon and fabian prewett go into the ground that day
  • molly, the last remaining prewett, feels like she’s drowning
  • (and although she is now a weasley, she will always be a prewett)
  • arthur’s hand in hers reminds her that she is not alone (far from it, in fact), but it does not ease the pain, the grief of losing all that was left of her family in one fell swoop
  • there is a stream of endless platitudes and consolations, so repetitive and meaningless that they blend into one another
  • (and she feels awful for the ones she has offered in the past)
  • (sometimes words mean so little)
  • she tries to tune it all out. sometimes she mutters, ‘thank you,’ towards her feet, but mostly she is silent
  • ‘when are you due?’
  • it is the only question that cuts through because it is so thoroughly unexpected, especially at a funeral
  • looking up, she meets a pair of brilliant green eyes, softened with sympathy in this moment
  • (but she knows just by looking at her that this woman can be hard, so hard and strong when she wants to be)
  • (and behind the woman stands a tall, bespectacled man with black hair, wilder and messier than hair really has a right to be, and she knows immediately that they are lily and james potter, who gideon and fabian talked about because of how bright and brave and in love they are)
  • when she does not answer, lily tries again, ‘you are pregnant, right? this isn’t some awful, social faux pas where i’ve asked a woman if she’s pregnant when she’s not, right?’
  • james sniggers and lily elbows him in the stomach
  • (and she wonders about these two, clearly so young, too young, for war and for a baby and for merlin knows what else might be coming)
  • (but she sees the way he holds her hand reverently, and the way she looks up at him reproachfully, her eyes betraying her amusement and embarrassment, and how he smiles and she smiles back and molly may as well not be there because they are so in love and damn the war)
  • ‘march,’ she eventually answers and the anxiety in lily’s face melts away
  • then molly casts her eyes downwards and smiles
  • ‘and you?’
  • ‘august,’ she answers, glowing like only a woman who is creating life can
  • lily’s hand skims across her stomach, the instinctual action of a woman whose belly is full of baby
  • (and molly would know, she has patted her own belly too many times to count)
  • ‘well, i guess our children will be going to hogwarts together, then,’ molly muses aloud
  • ‘maybe they’ll be best friends,’ lily smirks
  • and, for a moment, molly feels lighter because it is so reassuring to talk about the future in this way, to think about her children growing up in a world where they’re safe and happy and blood doesn’t matter and they can be whatever they choose to be
  • ‘potter and weasley,’ james is staring dreamily at the sky before dropping his gaze back down and grinning widely
  • ‘hogwarts won’t know what hit it.’
  • she never sees them again
  • her hands shake when she reads about them in the daily prophet
  • and she cries when she thinks about how they were bright and brave and so young
  • (too young and so in love)
  • (and now gone too soon)
  • she never forgets, but the memory does fade, the memory of meeting a vivacious couple on one of the worst days of her life and how they gave her hope for a future when the word future felt like taboo
  • and it doesn’t happen the way any of them had predicted, but it happens
  • because ron writes home in september 1991, talking about how he made friends with harry potter and how he stuffed himself silly on the hogwarts express because harry was generous and cool and being friends with him was easy and natural
  • so she thinks of lily and how she rubbed her belly, green eyes alight with hope
  • and she thinks of james and his cheeky grin and what he said that day
  • ‘potter and weasley. hogwarts won’t know what hit it.’
  • and she smiles

We know for a fact that Akechi’s power started out weak.

Sounds familiar.

In terms of ‘berserking’ at the point when he received his power, what we’re talking about is the means to cause embarrassment and loss of face at most, if even some of his later ‘exploits’ are anything to go by (specifically, prompting a chef to take nude selfies of himself).

Akechi had known well at age fifteen, that he could use the powers to some degrees of success. There weren’t exactly any leashes on him regarding that matter. He may even have run riot with petty psychic crimes - nothing notable let alone dangerous- before he got into the ‘big leagues’, so to speak.

With that said… he would never have even reached that on his own.

Even with the immense freedom in his power, he had to truly solidify his conviction for the power to be any ‘real use’. It’s the same reason why Haru’s Persona barely took form at all, even though it was there.

Similarly, facing her father was the catalyst for her Persona’s ‘true’ awakening- the means with which to awaken and channel the anger in her soul. To betray him, and take her freedom.

I don’t believe this was a coincidence. This is heavily paralleled in Akechi… and with horrible irony. Haru’s conviction to not be a puppet is brutally subverted.

Somehow, awakening to his true power trapped Akechi.

Funny isn’t it…. to note that this kid, who supposedly had an all-consuming, burning desire for revenge against his father at whatever cost, one that seemed to surpass all else and consume him whole… had a piss-poor Persona. And it was only after coming into contact with his father, that he became ‘truly resolute’ in exacting the revenge on him in the first place.

The implications of that are… interesting, to say the least.

It’s also notable that Akechi’s black garb is noted as his ‘true self’ when in reality, it’s his clothing bound up in wraps and belts, and he flashes into that form…

…when he’s losing control of himself.

Jill the Ripper?

Many of us are familiar with Jack the Ripper, the unidentified serial killer from 1880′s White Chapel. But what if it wasn’t Jack at all, what if Jack was actually Jill.

There is a theory that Jack the Ripper wasn’t a man at all, but rather a woman. For one if it was a female midwife they would be able to subdue their victims just by applying pressure on their pressure points thus making killing and mutilating their victim easier. Also the killer if she was female could disguise herself in the victims clothing to make leaving the crime scene easier and less noticeable.

One of the ripper’s victims, Mary Kelly, was thought to have died between 3 and 4 am. But Mrs. Maxwell gave aw testimony saying she saw Mary Kelly not once but twice after she was thought to have died. When detectives asked if she was sure she was adamantly sure she had seen Mary Kelly wearing the outfit she was seen in earlier that day. Could the killer have been posing as Kelly to escape unnoticed?

In William Stewart’s book “Jack the Ripper: A New Theory” he narrowed down the class of who a female ripper could have been. He said that the ripper could have been a midwife-probably an abortionist- who was betrayed by one of her patients and then sent to jail. Her motive for killing was to get revenge on her own sex for betraying her.

While there is not much supporting this theory it is an interesting one none the less and one I hadn’t heard of. We may never know the true identity of Jack the Ripper but it is fun to speculate.

This is the stupidest line of all time. If I didn’t know better, I’d think it was dramatic irony the writers had this line. Mai then goes on to say she “thought” she knew him, but I guess not. What does she mean? She doesn’t know shit about him. She doesn’t want to. She doesn’t attempt to.

Zuko tries to open up to her over and over to be repeatedly shut down in favor of lighthearted topics for her amusement while she stuffs her face with royal poptarts. She doesn’t even get why Zuko betrayed the Fire Nation. Mai sees it as betrayal. Mai sees Zuko standing up to his abuser to stop the war as betrayal. She thinks she knows Zuko? Bullshit.

She wouldn’t listen to him try to tell her what was going on. She didn’t care why he broke up with her. Mai didn’t give a fuck what Zuko’s mission in life was. She didn’t want to know, and just wanted convenience. She wanted him to come home so she could keep getting royal benefits and have a hot body to squeeze. Mai has no clue who Zuko is. Zuko has no clue who Mai is, either.

Maiko is the equivalent of having a crush on your best friend’s brother when you are seven-years-old, then not seeing him until halfway through high school after he endured severe trauma, and dating him right away and expecting it to be the same as third grade. It’s a fucking mess.

Hey guys. I did a thing.

It’s been 36 hours, 53 minutes, and 17 seconds since the Rangers defeated Rita and saved Angel Grove plus the rest of the world from what seemed like impending doom. They were safe. All of them. But Trini still couldn’t sleep. She was lucky if she slept two hours since Rita broke into her house. Sure, Trini toughed it out for the sake of the others but on the inside she was crumbling.

With a heavy sigh, Trini glanced at the clock. “Shit.” She swore, rubbing her eyes as she pulled back the covers and got out of bed. Trini quickly got dressed and walked outside, not knowing where exactly she as going to go at two in the morning, but fully aware of the simple fact that there was no way she could be in her room any longer. Not when if she closed her eyes she could still smell the damp, decaying odor that Rita left behind on her visit.

Fifteen minutes passed, and Trini found herself at her usual spot in the quarry. But for some reason, she kept going. After another fifteen minutes, Trini was climbing a tree that led to the window of Kimberly Hart’s room. There was a moment of hesitation, a split second of doubt before Trini knocked ever so gently on the window. Nothing. Kimberly didn’t even stir. Sighing, Trini knocked a little louder, this time waking her fellow ranger.

“What the…Trini?!” Kimberly asked incredulously as she climbed out of bed and opened her window. “Trini what are you doing here? It’s almost three in the morning. Are you alright?”

Trini hesitated before lithely jumping into Kimberly’s room. She took a look around before setting down her backpack. “Couldn’t sleep.” She offered gruffly, not really in the mood for a lecture. “I can go if you want. I’m not sure why I came here anyway. Zack is probably up. I’ll go bother him.” Trini said as she turned back to the window.

“Wait!” Kimberly exclaimed, grabbing Trini by the arm. “Wait, please.” She repeated, much more gently. “You can stay. I was just surprised. Now I know how poor Jason felt when I broke into his house. At least you had the decency to knock.” Kimberly joked, not noticing the flash of jealousy the appeared in Trini’s eyes.

“Well. Sorry to disappoint. I’m not some dreamy man here to whisk you away.” Trini grumbled, her arms crossed.

“Well. I wouldn’t want that but that’s besides the point. Come sit. Talk to me.” Kimberly said as she sat down on her bed and pat the spot beside her. “You came here for a reason. So come sit with me and tell me what’s up.”

“I already told you.” Trini mumbled, kicking off her shoes and sitting cross legged on Kimberly’s bed. “I can’t sleep. I haven’t….” She trailed off, her eyes focused on her lap. “I haven’t slept since Rita broke into my room.” Trini admitted, clenching her hands into fists. “I can’t get rid of that damned smell. I can’t…I look at my wall and my ceiling and even though they’re patched up now, I know what was there before. I almost died….the only reason she didn’t kill me was because she thought I would betray you guys.” She gritted her teeth, her eyes welling up with tears. “And you know what…she was right. You guys still got hurt because of me. Billy…he died. Because of me. I should have just fought her off. I should have done something. Jason may have thought it was on him but when it comes down to it, I should have gone to that shipyard alone. She would have killed me anyways. And none of you would have been hurt. God Kim, I couldn’t bear it if something happened to you.” Trini whispered before clearing her throat. “I mean. If something happened to any of you.”

Kimberly just sat there in shock. She had no idea Trini was carrying this burden. She had no idea how much Trini cared. The smaller girl in front of her was not the same one who jumped across a gorge just to get away from her. “Rita was not right. And it was not your fault.” Kimberly gently whispered as she took Trini’s hands into her own. “You aren’t like her. And you’re not going to ever be like her. You’re kind. And selfless. And so strong. You’re so brave, Trini. I am so lucky to have you in my life. We all are.” She smiled, her eyes glistening as she tugged ever so softly on Trini’s hands. “Lay down. Lay with me. And we’ll get some sleep okay?” Kimberly asked, taking note of the uncertainty in Trini’s eyes as they both laid back against the pillows. Kimberly pulled the blankets around them and rolled onto her side so she could face Trini. “You didn’t betray us. You didn’t hurt us. You brought us together. Seeing what Rita did to you…” She trailed off, her fingers gently running over the still healing scars on Trini’s neck. “My mind was made up even before Jason gave us his little pep talk.”

Trini swallowed hard as Kimberly continued to trace her fingers along her neck, goosebumps covered her body. She opened her mouth to talk but the words were lost on her tongue when she felt Kimberly’s hand on her waist. Trini’s eyes met Kimberly’s, and she felt a stronger pull than when all five of them stood in that circle and morphed for the first time. “K-Kim…” She whispered shakily, knowing fully that Kimberly could feel this pull between them too.

“Shhhh.” Kimberly murmured, her eyes never leaving Trini’s as she pulled the smaller girl flush against her. She could feel Trini’s heart racing against hers as she slowly dipped her hand beneath Trini’s shirt so she could trace little patterns against her skin.

Trini’s heart skipped a beat and she hoped Kimberly couldn’t feel the way her body was shaking. “Kimberly I…” But Trini was cut off by a finger pressed against her lips. She couldn’t form words if she tried at this point.

“I won’t let anything happen to you.” Kimberly whispered, her face not even an inch away from Trini’s. “I won’t let anyone hurt you ever again.” She swore as she slowly closed the distance between them, her lips finding Trini’s for a kiss so gentle, Kimberly didn’t think it was possible.

The moment Kimberly’s lips were on hers, Trini melted. She pressed herself impossibly closer to her friend as their kiss deepened. Trini’s hand finds Kimberly’s face and she cups her cheek gently. They break apart for a moment, their eyes still closed and both of them breathing shakily. Kimberly connects their lips for a second time, this time pulling Trini on top of her, her arms wrapped around the smaller girl as she melts against her.

Kimberly pulls away first. “Look at me.” She whispered gently as she rubbed Trini’s back. “You’re safe.” Kimberly whispered, and Trini nodded as tears finally began to fall. “I’m here. I’ve got you.” Kimberly said as she wiped Trini’s tears away.

“I believe you.” Trini choked out. “I don’t know what to even say right now.”

Kimberly smiled and pressed a kiss to Trini’s forehead. “Don’t say anything at all. We’ll have plenty of time to talk this weekend. I’m not going anywhere.”

“Promise?” Trini asked in a small voice, breaking Kimberly’s heart.

“I promise, beautiful.”

Trini blushed at Kimberly’s words and curled up against her. It didn’t take long before they were out cold, the comfortable feeling of being in each other’s arms turned out to be all they needed to feel whole again.

anonymous asked:

I'm sure this will be answered in canon at some point, but for now, do you have any thoughts on Haggar's deal?

I mean, that’s a pretty general topic here.

I think the main mysteries behind Haggar right now are:

  • What caused her to break with Altea the way she did?
  • Who was she before that?
  • What is she to Zarkon?
  • Why is she so abnormally, terrifyingly powerful- and is that a common thread between her and Allura?
  • What happened to her face marks- were they always like that? They’re a completely different color and shape from the rest of the Alteans, which is peculiar considering the fact that both Coran and Allura have their marks as infants would tell us it’s biological.

At this point, I have some theories, but one of the main ones is: I think that Haggar at some point saved Zarkon’s life.

And the whole time he was doing that, [Y/N] was the one he was battling every night. She was the one who was preventing him from getting close to [random villain of your choosing.]

The moment he revealed her identity in that alley, it was as if his entire world had been flipped upside down. His felt a huge blow to his chest as he watched panic settle in her eyes and every time she reached out for him, he felt his insides melting. How could she? How could she use him like that? After everything they had been, everything they had done. How?

“Peter,” [Y/N] croaked out.

Whipping his head in her direction, his eyes clouding with anger and betrayal again. Standing up from his spot from across the room, he walked over towards her. Despite the emotions he still felt for her, it couldn’t mask the fact that she was a liar. Grabbing a hold of the remote that would send electrical currents through her body, he closed his eyes. “Why are you working for [villain name]?”

“Peter, please.” [Y/N] begged, “This is so much bigger than-” She screamed out in pain through gritted teeth. She deserved this.

Deep down inside, hearing her scream out in pain and knowing he was the reason behind it was slowly killing him. This wasn’t like him, but he couldn’t get over her deception. He let [Y/N] break his walls and know everything there was about him. “I’m not going to ask you again.”

Yanking on the chains that had her wrists bound, she cried out. “I can’t tell you.” Wrenching out in pain again, she blinked back tears and fell limp. Hissing through her teeth, she looked up at Peter. Shaking her head, “You…you were my mission.” Tears slid down her face as she heard him gasp. Biting her lip, she took a deep breath and looked at him again. “I was suppose to infiltrate and take you out.” Her body started to shake, “But, I became compromised when I started to like you. I couldn’t let [villain name] know you were still alive, so I did everything I possibly could to keep you from going after him.” Yanking on the chains again, she whimpered out, “I know you have no reason to believe me but I’m telling you the truth now. What he’s planning is so much bigger than you or I. I can’t let you interfere.”

Peter gritted his teeth and held his finger on the button, watching as she shook with pain. Releasing the button, he threw it to the floor. So many things were buzzing in his head that he couldn’t think straight. Running his hands through his hair, he finally realized that he couldn’t be here anymore. He couldn’t deal with the possible lies right now. Pulling out his phone, he texted Tony his current predicament. He’d let Tony deal with it. He was done with [Y/N]. It would take time but he could never trust her again. And to be honest, he didn’t even want to look at her.

He turned to walk out of the warehouse but not before he heard [Y/N] utter his name. Turning slightly to face her, she softly cried,  “I know this may be hard to believe, but I’m on your side.” Sniffling, she bowed her head again, “I couldn’t let him hurt you.”

I’m sorry (Peter Parker x Reader) (Part II)

Part 1:

It had been three months since the fight, in which Peter had changed seats in class and had ignored you and run away when you tried to approach him. You regretted it. You had started regretting it the moment you got home right after the fight. You wanted to call Peter and apologize, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. It hadn’t been your fault, after all. It had been him the one who lied. But why did it feel so wrong? After having him confess his true feelings, you could only think about having him by your side, holding your hand and whispering sweet things into your ear. But that was it, an imagination. Due to what you had said -what you had done, your friendship was ruined. So when, after avoiding him for a week, you tried to approach him, he turned his back to you and left you standing in front of his locker. You just wanted to hug him and apologize, tell him that you understood. And you couldn’t. You were hurt -hurt by the fact that he hadn’t trusted you enough, hurt by the fact that the day after the fight he asked a class partner to change seats with  him, hurt by the fact that he didn’t seem to want your friendship to be fixed. You waited. You waited for a month, and when nothing happened, you decided to wait for another month. When the two months had passed and he was still avoiding you, you decided to show up at his house to try and fix things. So you did. You showed up, knocked on the door, and when Aunt May opened it, she first looked angry, like she blamed you for Peter’s sadness. She then looked sad. She could see the bags under your eyes, the puffy eyes, the weight you had lost. You had not only lost your best friend. You had lost everyone you had. Your parents hadn’t been getting along, and they had finally decided to get divorced, and when that happened, you had no one to turn to. You were alone. Aunt May saw that. It was as clear as the fact that she lied when she said Peter wasn’t home. She looked at the floor, letting you know she wasn’t telling the truth. She wanted you to know it was a lie, to ask her to come inside. But you couldn’t. You were tired. Peter didn’t want to see you. He asked his aunt to lie for him. He had decided to end communication with you, and you weren’t in the mood for trying any longer. You were tired. So you went home, where you heard your parents shouting about the divorce papers. You went home, where you laid on your bed, putting on your earbuds, trying to block out the noise. You went home, where you slept for a day and, due to that, missed school.

You had lost motivation. You didn’t feel like going to school nor going out, so you started to miss it. You went three or four times a week, always avoiding Peter, with your hood over your head. You had no one. What was the point?
A month went on like that. The same routine everyday. Until one day, as you had just gotten out of the shower, you heard someone knocking at your window. Your head snapped, you being eager to find out who was outside. Weren’t you surprised. The one and only Spiderman. You didn’t know what to do. Should you open the window? Should you ask him to leave? Your instincts answered before you, opening your window before you even realized what you were doing.
‘Can I come in?’ Peter said.
His voice -how much had you missed it. How it sounded so childish but rough at the same time. How it made you fuzzy inside. You nodded, walking back to your bed. You sat there, playing with your fingers whilst waiting for him to talk.
‘I’m sorry.’ He said, taking off his mask. ‘I know that isn’t enough. Aunt May told me how you were. I didn’t want to believe her. But then you started to miss school, and you stopped talking. You started to wear oversized hoodies, and it wasn’t until a day at PE where you took it off that I realized how skinny you were. It’s-it’s all my fault. I was an asshole. I left you alone. I didn’t think about you when you got mad. I didn’t think about how betrayed you could be feeling. And when you left, well, I felt kind of relieved. I started to avoid you -I was mad. I didn’t want to have you close. And I’m sorry. What I did was horrible. I will regret it forever. That’s why I’m-‘ He was cut out by your mother’s voice, shouting at your father, who had come to pick the last boxes he needed to take to his new apartment. ‘What’s-what’s going on?’ He asked, a confused look on his face.
‘They got divorced. Last month.’ You said, your voice low. You hadn’t spoken much often. Your mother was too busy working to have dinner with you, and your father had moved out a month and a half ago. You had no other friends at school, so the most you talked was with the bus driver or the cashier at the supermarket.
‘I’m-I’m so sorry. I didn’t know. Shit, of course I didn’t know. I’m horrible. I’m so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you. I just-I just wanted to protect you from the bad guys. And the bad guy-the bad guy ended up being me. I’m sorry. I know you won’t fully forgive me, and I understand. I just want you to know that if you ever need me, I’ll be right there for you. No matter when or where. Always.’ He looked sorry. His hand was pulled into a fist holding his mask, his eyes full of regret. You wanted to forgive him. You needed to forgive him. But would it ever be the same? You didn’t know what to do. So when he decided that you weren’t going to talk -that you weren’t going to forgive him, he turned around. But he changed his mind, and he turned around once more, facing you again. He walked to step in front of the bed, lowered himself to be eye-level with you, and muttered a quick ‘sorry for this’ before kissing you. He had intended it to be a short kiss, but as you felt his lips pressed against your own, you suddenly knew what to do. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer. You made him lay on the bed, not breaking the kiss. And when you finally broke apart to breath, you knew what to say to him.
‘I forgive you, but stay.’
He nodded, laying next to you, covering both of you with the blanket and pulling you close, kissing your neck and muttering a soft ‘goodnight’.

There are so many to chose from, so I thought I’d make this.

They will be split up in to ships, and then into six other categories. So, here we go! The other ships will be on other posts, but when they’re done, I’ll link em.

Word Count: 65,524 (WIP)

Summary: Alexander Hamilton arrives on Washington’s doorstep in distress and disarray feeling like just another worthless kid in the system. He’s certain that the Washington’s house will be no different from the others he’s been to. Usually a chatterbox who always speaks his mind, Alex decides it’s best to keep his mouth shut and his head down as he navigates his new life with the Washingtons, their adoptive son, Lafayette, and Lafayette’s amazing friends, one of whom may be working his way into Alexander’s heart. As much as he wants to move forward, he’s haunted by his past. Can Alexander face his demons or will they ruin him once and for all?

Personal Comment: Amazing. Read it. I am not usually a fan of modern AUs cause I am a massive history nerd, but I mean just read it. 10/10 would recommend.

(AKA the one where they’re all grad students ostensibly studying ghosts, but mostly having a lot of feelings.)

Personal Comment: This fic. This fic right here. Okay I read all 100k words of this in like one day and it gave me so many feelings Jesus I love this fic so much omg. Just read it. Seriously. Read it.

Summary: “District Four’s tributes! Elizabeth Schuyler and Alexander Hamilton!”, Lee shouted into the microphone and Alexander reached out to take Eliza’s hand without prompting.
“Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor!”
People were still watching them. Eliza’s hand was clutching his, though her face betrayed no emotion. Alexander swallowed and, once Lee was done, pulled her into a tight hug. “Smile for the cameras, Betsey,” he murmured, using the nickname only he had for her, “We won’t let them know we’re scared.”

Personal comment: A Hunger Games AU, I went in not knowing what this was going to be like and I was blown away. Like better than the actual thing blown away. 10/10 would recommend.

Theory: Ezra is testing Aria

As an “Ezra is A” theorist, I find my mind wandering back to this idea a lot over the last 2 weeks.

What if Ezra is the one threatening Aria with her file?

There are 2 things I believe to be 100% true about Ezra Fitz.

1. He is ‘A’ all the way. Total scum and full ‘A’ team since the beginning.
2. Despite that fact, he really, truly does love Aria.

So imagine from this perspective.

Ezra is finally reunited with Aria, after rigging an exhaustive set of circumstances to ensure that they will HAVE to spend time together.

He begins by convincing the publisher (a publishing house I believe he anonymously owns, BTW) to publish his book with Aria as a co-writer.

She never even vaguely suggests the idea, but he plays on her desire to write and knows that she’ll accept when presented the offer.

From there he uses his past with her, and knowledge from his extensive research, to manipulate her into falling back into old patterns with him.

Things go according to plan and he asks her to marry him. She says yes.

Now the fun part. Since he truly does love her, he really does want to spend his life with her. But there’s that tricky business of him being ‘A’. It’ll be hard to spend the rest of his life hiding that from her.

But, let’s be honest… Aria has forgiven Ezra for pretty much the worst crime of her lifetime. The “Book” incident. So if she found a way to forgive that, she must really, truly love him too, right? So if she could get over the “Book”… it’s possible that she loves him the way that he loves her. Unconditionally.

He said that there was nothing that could make him not love her, and I believe that’s true. But does Aria feel the same way? How can he find out? How can he find out if she would still love him if she found out what he really was?

A test. 'A’ Test, actually.

So, as 'A’, he threatens her with exposure of her file. He tells her that if her info gets out it will both cause Ezra to leave her AND result in him going to jail.

As tests of loyalty go, that’s pretty big.

“What will you do to keep me? And what will you do to keep me safe?”

“Will you choose me over everything? Over your friends? Over yourself?”

When Aria leaves Ali to go to meet A.D. , Sidney tells her that she’s made a huge step towards gaining A.D.’s trust. But she still has a way to go and a decision to make. She needs to show him that she’ll betray her friends to potentially save him.

She also needs to show him that she understands the game and why he does what he does. And whatever secret that she’s guarding must really make him think that she’s capable of that. It’s a big leap, but he doesn’t want to live a lie with her.

My prediction, with this theory in mind, is that the coming episodes will go a bit like this.

-Aria will choose to join A.D. And protect herself and Ezra.

-This will mean that she is seemingly going to be betraying the Liars.

-She is going to go in deep to find out who A.D. Is and end the game herself.

-Because this is so incredibly dangerous, and she’s truly learning that she can trust no one… she will not confide in anyone that this is all just a rouse.

-She’ll have to commit some seriously heinous acts to earn his trust. But since she’s working undercover, she’ll believe the ends justify the means. She will be working the entire time to destroy 'A’.
-After a time, when she’s done something so awful that it’s impossible to turn back, Ezra will reveal himself to her.

-He’ll explain what’s really going on. Who he really is, and why.

-She’ll pretend to be surprised, and she’ll pretend that she accepts it. She’ll pretend that she forgives him, and maybe even that she’s into it.

-Once she has succeeded in convincing him that she loves him still, and that there is nothing she wouldn’t do for him, then she’ll betray him.

-The betrayal will be the “Sexy and bloody” death that Ian Harding alluded to happening this season.

-She’ll kill him, thinking that she’s finally put an end to it all.

-They may, or may not actually get married before that point but I sort of doubt it.

-After she kills him, in 7x20 there will be another twist where they reveal that he was not actually at the top of the ladder. There’s still one more villain (or group) running the show.

We all agree that it’s almost impossible to imagine there is anything in that file that meets the following criteria…

1. Aria has a secret. She must have something to hide. If she didn’t, she would just tell A.D. That they have nothing on her that she’s not prepared to deal with, and bounce.

2. This is a secret that somehow incriminates Ezra, despite being Aria’s secret.

3. Somehow, through all the years of stalking and “research” it’s something Ezra has never uncovered.

So, it almost seems like one of those things has to be false. And most likely it’s the part where Ezra doesn’t already know about it.

Everyone Has A Weakness - Part 2

Request from @sborrink: (possible part 2 to ‘everyone has a weakness’ or a stand alone story. Your choice.). Dom!Bucky x reader where the reader finds out that Bucky has a thing for skimpy Halloween outfits/lingerie courtesty of Nat letting it slip out during a drunken girls night out (Bucky reluctantly helping Nat pick a costume). Reader sees it as a perfect oportunity to get back at Bucky at Tony’s Halloween party for all the teasing he’s done, but Bucky has some ideas of his own.

Note: So I have changed this just a little bit in regards to how Nat informs the reader. Rather than having her letting it slip due to alcohol she just comes right out with it - I can definitely imagine her doing that! I also would like to apologise right now for the ending! haha!

Dom!Bucky x Reader

Words: 2,504

Warnings: There is smut in this piece so please if you are under 18 DO NOT READ. It is not suitable for you so I’d rather you stayed reading my SFW stuff. Major teasing (sorry!), language, dominance and slightly controlling behaviour.

Disclaimer: None of the GIFs used are mine so all credit goes to their wonderful creators <3

Another piece of fabric was thrown over the changing room door to where you were stood, forcing you to catch it before adding it to the pile that was steadily beginning to form. You couldn’t believe that this stuff was actually classed as clothing – looked more like brightly coloured dental floss to you – but Nat had insisted on coming shopping for Tony’s Halloween party and dragging you along with her.

Your mind wasn’t in it though, not after what had transpired in the gym the other day, good god you hoped no one had seen the two of you, scrap that….heard you. It became apparent rather quickly that Bucky brought noises out of you that you didn’t even think were possible and given the shock of how quickly it had all unfolded you were unable to even attempt to keep them held back.

“[y/n] are you even listening to me out there?”

Nat’s voice snapped you out of the rather racy thoughts your mind had started to play out and it was a good job too because you were beginning to feel an all too familiar heat building between your legs and had she not spoken your ability to stand would have soon disappeared.

“Sorry Nat, was too busy wondering just how this all passes as clothing.”

“о мой Бог! (‘oh my god!’) You sound ancient! This is all the rage among us adults at Halloween…” You were about to disagree with her entirely but almost as though she knew you were she spoke again before you could even open your mouth. “….and Bucky LOVES this stuff.”

Ok but can we talk about how Lucifer is very, very old like minimum the entire human history and longer coz when his dad started with humanity it sounded like he was young-ish so he’s like minimum 200,000 years old and allot of that was spent in hell and time goes much more slowly there.

And he spent only what sounded like part of his childhood or young life feeling loved and cared for. His feelings of being unwanted likely started when his dad started with humanity and all semblance of belonging or love would’ve disappeared when he was sent to hell. So 200,000 years of not loving or being loved, then he comes to earth and indulges in all the fun he can get. He views his partners as at least caring a little for him (which they don’t apparently) which is probably why he was so upset and determined to find the killer when Delilah was killed in the pilot, he really didn’t care for many people but he appeared to care at least a bit for her. Enough to want her to have a good life anyway.

So she’s gone and he’s back to having no one to care about, then Chloe turns up and he cares about her! Allot more than he’s cared about anyone else in his 200,000 years of living. Eventually he gets over his fear and multiple emotional walls he has up from 200,000 years of being a torturer in hell. Then he finds out that actually, it was all a trick and once again he’s been had and the person he cares for (in his mind) has been ripped away from him. And he doesn’t believe she would accept him for who he is anyway.

I just want to give some perspective coz I was thinking about this today. 200,000 years is a fucking long time no wonder it’s taken almost 2 whole seasons for Lucifer to actually admit he cares for someone. And he’s prob gon be a fucked up lil devil when he comes back with all his walls back up and weeee fun angst

And on Chloe: I’ve seen people be all ‘shes gonna get back together with Dan’ NO BITCH DON’T YOU REMEMBER WHAT HE DONE? Dan betrayed her, allot. Like he was a royal dick face I don’t think she’s gonna go back to him. He practically abandoned her to the criticism of everyone and now Lucifers abandoning her so I wouldn’t be surprised if she puts her walls up again to. Hers are just as strong as Lucifers and it took her just as long to bring them down.

imma go cry in a corner now bye I’m so looking foreward to May but low key scared coz it’s gonna hurt allot

anonymous asked:

What do you think about the promo? I think the kiss was a flashback and that Lena finally finds out that Kara is SG.

You have an interesting thought here. But I don’t think the kiss is a flashback. In the promo, there is the scene where Jack asks “Are you trying to get me into your cross hairs, Ms. Danvers” or something like that, you can see Lena out of focus in the frame. Her hair is in the same bun and she is wearing the same gold dangle earrings that she has when she kisses him. Of course he is wearing the same dark sweater as well.

When Lena says “Who else has seen this?” It might be Kara who she is talking to, I think it is likely. We know that both Lena and Kara will be doing some digging into all of this so they could be working together but Lena may also be conflicted because Jack is probably someone she cared for. But it could also be Beth Breen (Jack’s CFO) as we know she is going to end up confronting her about Jack’s product and what it does. It’s hard for me to tell. Maybe Lena goes out of her way to confront Jack as well? Maybe the kiss is her playing on his feelings to learn more about what he is up to? Maybe Jack or Beth inject Lena and she is being controlled? Maybe it is a moment of passion and/or misjudgement between them?

Here, Kara looks both sad and guilty/conflicted so I have a feeling something bad happens to Jack and Lena is seeking comfort from Kara. Kara may feel bad because she could be the reason behind Jack’s demise (we won’t say death because even though the odds point that way, we can’t be sure). Or Lena is upset about Jack being evil and having just another person in her life that is bad (Thought of @kara-danvers-lena-luthor ). I think one of these is most likely. We know about Lena’s struggle with Lex and how she felt when she found out Lionel wasn’t as great as she grew up believing he was. With Jack, this is another man that has betrayed her trust. Her trust doesn’t seem to be an easy thing to gain so it is natural that she would be upset.

As much as I want the big reveal to happen in this episode, I have a feeling this won’t be it. Going back to “Who else has seen this?” If it is Kara, there is a chance she is showing Lena something that may incriminate Jack and that is what spurs Lena into action with whatever plan she may have. Or it could be after the kiss and Lena is worried about the implications of what the evidence may mean. Just some thoughts. I truly can’t say for sure.

Thanks for stopping by!

SooYona and the Hairpin

I was reading chapter 62 of Akayona and…

We, of course, run into Yona’s hairpin. And we are given a small flashback of when Soo-won gave it to her. I just want to reflect on this hairpin and Yona’s feelings and the development through this manga.

First off, I want to acknowledge how much of a CORE and significant element this hairpin is. Lets start from when Soo-won gives it to her.

This hairpin was given to Yona on her sixteenth birthday and there are lots of things the reader may not acknowledge. Firstly, this hairpin is EXPENSIVE and HIGH QUALITY. So many people realize that, therefore it is seen as a beautiful gift and beautiful item, something a princess would totally own.

What I think is important is Soo-won took the time to search for an item for Yona’s birthday and came across this hairpin (while plotting his murder in Il). (If he only cared about murdering Il, why buy her a gift? Why buy her an EXPENSIVE gift?) He spent money on its quality, having thought she would like it and it would fit her. It shows how much he KNOWS yona. Like literally, Aro, a kai empire woman mentions it goes with Yona’s hair perfectly.

Now there’s two things I’ve considered with him purchasing this hairpin.

1. He did it to keep her from suspecting he would kill her father and keep this idea that soo-won is her perfect, beloved cousin and not a murderer.
2. He genuinely wanted to give something to Yona that she would like and appreciate. A gift that’s tangible and able to be shown off to others. Small enough to not be over the top but big enough to mean something.

I’ve concluded there’s a little bit of both of these in his actions. Soo-won DOES care for Yona, despite killing her father.

In soo-wins mind, king Il is evil. He’s a heinous leader and he can’t stand him. Yona, however, is someone soo-won deeply cares for, but his love for the kingdom seems to overpower his care for her.

I also want to acknowledge the fact that Soo-won had many chances to kill Yona:
- Literally right after he killed Il
- In the courtyard
- When he met her in the earth tribe after kumji’s death (CRUCIAL PART OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP because 1) he didn’t kill Yona 2) he was shocked and relieved she was alive and so was hak 3) he hid her from judo and the guards 4) he LOWKEY said she can kill him after he finishes his duties as king 5) he tells her a very heartfelt goodbye)
- When they met with lilli
- When they met during the Nadai arc

Many more. BUT HE DOESNT. He does not hate Yona and he does not despise her. There is LOVE there. Certainly. Whether it be romantic or platonic, he has love for his cousin.

Back to this chapter, I’ve realized that a lot of people hate how Yona has held onto this hairpin.

But let’s reflect on why.

I’m sure many of you can relate to having a first love. Try putting yourselves in yona’s expensive customized royal shoes, okay?

Soo-won in Yona’s eyes is the definition of perfect. He’s intelligent, good looking, friendly, accepting, considerate, and incredibly optimistic.

Really, there’s no point for anyone to question his personality, especially Yona. So for years, yona’s love for him built up and up and up with every good thing he did for her and others. Who, ever in their right minds, would think that he would do any wrong, let alone murder her father? It’s such an irrational thing that it probably shocked her more than frightened her when she saw soo-won kill her father.

And JUST DAYS BEFORE, soo-won gave her something that halted her hate for her hair. He’s been in Yona’s life forever and he’s been her best friend, her crush, hell he was her mother at one point.

Soo-won literally is everything she’s always wanted. Now imagine your first love giving you something that is so thoughtful and beautiful, and then SAYS YOURE BEATIFUL ALONG WITH IT. Can you imagine?! If my first love said that, I’d cry in happiness. Seriously. Like, Yona has been in love with this guy who she deemed beyond perfect for YEARS. YEARS, she has been dancing for him, practicing the harp for him, preparing sweets and wanting to engage in dangerous activities because she was that in love with him. I mean cmon guys, Yona had it so unbelievably bad for him. Probably way worse than we did for our first loves.

He is such a crucial part of Yona’s life. She wanted to MARRY this kid and hand him the throne. Okay?

Now just imagine, IMAGINE your first love betraying you just once. And really all it took was once for him to shatter her image of him. But even though it was incredibly painful and so wrong on so many levels, she can’t forget what he was to her before and how he treated her for sixteen freaking years.

Let’s also acknowledge that 99% of the time, first loves never leave. That’s what sucks about first loves. They stay. You may move on, you may develop feelings for someone else, but first loves will always have that hold on you.

In Yona’s life, there was no other guy except for hak and he was SO much more different from soo-won. Seriously, in Yona’s head, as much as it sucks for Hak, there was NO WAY at the time that Yona would ever consider hak. Ever. No way.

And could you really blame her?

Sure, they’re both incredibly hot and great guys, but I would personally choose the guy who wasn’t an asshole to me, who didn’t tease me, and who protected me when someone important to me died as a child. (Hak probably awkwardly would’ve done the same thing, but he got OFFENDED when soo-won and Yona held hands).

Soo-won is literally Yona’s and our Prince Charming. Without even realizing it, he’s incredibly romantic and kind and loving. Like seriously guys, Soo-won is so freaking important to Yona.

That hairpin isn’t just a hairpin. It’s the precious memory of the Soo-won Yona fell in love with. It’s the precious memory of being his best friend since childhood. It’s so much more than a hairpiece.

Losing that hairpin would be accepting reality and letting go of the boy who meant the absolute world to her.

And that’s why this hairpin is so freaking important AND WHY IT WAS SO SHOCKING SHE FINALLY LET IT GO AND LET SOOWON GO.

Give Yona credit. That must’ve hurt like hell. And she did it for her dragons. Sure, from the outside, she gave away a hairpin that she liked but she literally let go of the past. She accepted that the Soo-won she knew and loved is not who he is now.

Even though that girl was a spoiled princess, she hit ROCK BOTTOM and look at the way she’s grown and developed and become a SOLID WOMAN. A WARRIOR.

No wonder Soo-won can’t move when she confronts him. No wonder Hak can’t help but brag about her. No wonder kija has a crush on her. No wonder shin-ah and yoon cry at the thought of Yona hating them or getting hurt. No wonder Zeno wants to shield her from danger. No wonder Jaeha wants to tease her.

The girl is a piece of art.

Anakin is one of the most misunderstood characters in the Star Wars universe.

I believe this solely because of all the canon that has been released alongside the prequels such as novelizations of the first three episodes, the Clone Wars animated series and the Darth Vader books as well as the very facts that Anakin grew up a slave and was a direct product of the Force.

Yes, Anakin had been manipulated into turning against the Jedi Order by the chancellor, but if you really consider Anakin’s experience with the Order, his perception of the Jedi being evil was not too far from the truth, as they had been incredibly corrupted.  As a slave, Anakin learned to be obedient, so when he was freed, he had high expectations for a life as a free boy. What he didn’t realize was that he was trading one life for another. He was already 9 years old when he was taken into the order, so he grew up a normal (slave) child’s life alongside other children and especially his mother, free of emotional, physical and mental restrictions. Upon joining the Jedi, he had to forget those connections; he was taught that they were “not the jedi way,” that they were wrong, that they would cloud his thoughts, that he must not ever feel that way; this must have been especially hard to do-living your entire life one way and and then being told you had to forget it. On top of that, Anakin had over 20,000 midichlorians- the minimum amount to be considered a Jedi was 5,000 (yeah, I know, I know, midichlorians are just some prequel bullsh*t, but they’re canon), but seriously though: this was more than Master Yoda. Anakin was born of the Force. He was nearly 2 to 4 times more powerful than all of the forcefuls in the temple. Where most people took months of meditations to learn proper telekinesis, Anakin probably struggled not to throw objects; when he was taught to warm something with the Force, he set it on fire, burning himself trying to raise the temperature. I imagine meditation was difficult for him because he probably heard so much; he was probably overwhelmed and easily distracted by what he felt but didn’t know how to control or channel it. Maybe it scared him (italics a product of wingletblackbird).

His entire life as a Jedi, Anakin had been told that he was the Chosen One, prophesied to bring balance to the Force. You can imagine how frustrating it must have been for him to constantly be reminded of this, to be 2 to 4 times more powerful than anyone else in the temple, and to be so restricted, not trusted and held back by the council. This was one of the reasons he viewed the council as self-serving and corrupt, especially when they asked him, a mere Jedi Knight, not master, to spy on the chancellor when they were getting their rights stripped away. Had Anakin been given the rank of Jedi Master, he would have given into the self-serving and narrow-minded views of the Order, and probably never turned to the Dark side, as he later realizes as Darth Vader.

In the novelizations, the reader gets a better and more detailed explanation of the characters and their thoughts and actions; some even include some scenes that were not shown in the movies themselves. For example, when Anakin was killing the remaining jedi in the temple, we find out that he didn’t really want to; Pre-suit Darth Vader still had Anakin Skywalker fresh inside him, and being very conflicted with all the memories he had growing up in the temple, he called upon the Dark Side to help him do what he believed was necessary because he knew he wasn’t strong enough to do it alone.

The Clone Wars animated series offers an even more in-depth understanding of Anakin and his connections to everyone around him; here we get to see the hero of the Republic at his prime, the ballsy and unorthodox Jedi who was cocky and humble all at once, the skilled pilot and most cunning warrior; and along with this heroic reputation he has, we still get to see his intense love for his comrades, especially his Master, his padawan and his wife. The audience also got to see how these connections in turn influenced some dark decisions, thus demonstrating how it was not only the chancellor that had turned him, but his fear of losing his loved ones. Yet as much as the animated series makes Anakin’s fall to the Dark so much more heartbreaking after experiencing the Clone Wars by his, Obi Wan’s, Padme’s and Ahsoka’s side, it can also serve to undermine the surprise element of his fall that the prequels portray; TCW turned Anakin into more of an edgy character with an inherent darkness, cheapening the good-hearted and conflicted prequels Anakin. The entire point of prequels Anakin was that his fall didn’t make sense, that it was out of nowhere, that there weren’t many warning signs, that he was manipulated by others into an impossible situation, that if one or two circumstances had been just slightly different he wouldn’t have fallen (italics a product of anakinskydala).  But Prequels and Clone Wars Anakin both present the fact that his fall didn’t have to happen, that it could have been so easily avoided, and that is what makes it so much more tragic.

In the Darth Vader books, we get a peek into the tempest of thoughts raging behind the stone-cold mask. I never really considered the person behind the mask until hearing about the tragic memories and internal battles clashing within; Vader is really depressed and in constant, agonizing pain. The books reveal his constant internal battle with his former self, how he relives parts of his life and imagines how they could have went differently, how he immensely misses his love and the love between them, their child, how he hates Darth Sidious, how he hates himself, how he hates his suit, how uncomfortable everything is, how he misses his body, how he realizes he was never really free from being a slave, how he only feels human in his bacta-tank and meditation chamber, how he dreads putting his suit on, how he can’t sleep, how he channels all his anger and pain to become more powerful through his connection the Dark Side, how he blames Obi Wan and the Jedi Council for everything… It is in these books that we understand Anakin, the Chosen One’s true intentions for betraying the Jedi. When being visited by Padme on Mustafar in Episode III, the newly-knighted Darth Vader confronts his frantic wife; he is excited to tell her about how he plans to learn all that he can from Palpatine, how he plans to use that knowledge to overthrow him and end his regime once and for all, how he is doing this all for her and their child, for the entire galaxy, so that they may live as a family in peace. It is in these novels that we understand that there was still so much good in him, that he wasn’t completely consumed by the dark side, that he was going to fulfill his prophecy. But his wife was so worked into a frenzy that she wasn’t listening to his words, he had to make her understand, he had to. He would.  He would make her understand that this was all for them. But then Obi Wan emerged from her ship. And here Anakin’s Dark Side gripped him, his anger, his hatred, his pain at the very thought of his wife betraying him consumed his entire being and he lashed out, grasping her neck with the force, not thinking, only feeling. “YOU BROUGHT HIM HERE TO KILL ME?!”

This is in no way a justification for his horrific actions, but it definitely explains and gives a little more insight on what was going on in Anakin’s head, allowing for a better understanding of who he was without being completely apologetic towards him.

Anyone with a more in-depth understanding of the novelizations of the movies and/or the Darth Vader books OR ANAKIN IN GENERAL, please share some insight!
