otterandterrier: “There you go!! Sorry for the delay, I was away for the day. Your art is gorgeous! ♥”
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Seriously I am so happy, you’re completely amazing, I’m beaming. Agh wow. Thank you. I can’t gush enough I’m just so excited that you made it magical, @otterandterrier you rock my socks off. (If anyone is new here, this rad person made my drawing MAGICALLY MOVE. I LOVE THE INTERNET).
Lady Hay Drummond-Hay (September 12, 1895—February 12, 1946) was a star journalist who became the first woman to circumnavigate the globe, and she did it in a damned Zeppelin. She went on to report from war zones like Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) and Manchuria (now part of China), fell into a tumultuous romance with a fellow reporter, and was eventually captured by the Japanese during WWII.
…swim the English Channel.
Gertrude Ederle (October 23, 1905 – November 30, 2003) was a competitive swimmer, Olympic champion, and at one time held five world records. If there was a world record for coolest nickname she would’ve held six, because hers was “Queen of the Waves.” When Ederle set out to become the first woman to swim the English channel, she used motorcycle goggles and sealed the edges with wax to keep the salt water out of her eyes. Due to unfavorable and violent wind conditions twelve hours into her 14 hour and 34 minute journey, her trainer shouted at her to get out of the water and into his boat. She reportedly popped her head up from the water to simply ask “what for?”
…travel around the world in less than 80 days.
Nellie Bly (May 5, 1864—January 27, 1922) asked her editor at the New York World if she could take a stab at turning the story Around the World in 80 Days from fiction to fact. Using railways and steamships, Bly chuggah-chuggahed and toot-tooted the nearly 25,000 mile trip in just 72 days, meeting Jules Verne and buying a monkey along the way. If her name sounds familiar but these stories don’t, it’s probably because you’ve heard about how she once faked a mental illness so she could write an exposé on psychiatric asylums. Or maybe it’s because of her famed coverage of the Woman Suffrage Parade of 1913. Or maybe it’s because you’re a big fan of farming and industrialist patents and heard she invented a novel milk can and a stacking garbage can. Nellie Bly did a lot in her short 57 years.

Stuff You Missed in History Class (@missedinhistory) is not exclusively about women, but hoo boy, it turns out most history classes aren’t great at teaching us about women’s history. You’ll learn a lot here.
The New-York Historical Society (@nyhistory) has been pulling articles, artifacts, and documents deep from the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library this Women’s History Month.
Antiform Aqua would be the coolest thing because imagine if she could manipulate her side skirt things as wings, whip-like vines, what have you. She never lost her heart and her clothes aren’t magical, but it’d be super neat if she had different forms.

Since Jason’s truck is still getting fixed up in the shop, they use Trini’s 1998 Land Cruiser as their transportation (She constantly reminds her friends that it’s two years older than them) and that they better respect it. Billy takes her seriously. The others don’t. Zack’s sure that Trini loves the car almost as much as she loves Kim.
First of all, it’s Trini’s car. after years of saving money from birthdays and a good paying summer job before she moved to Angel Grove, she bought it with her own money.
It’s missing a headlight and has a huge crack down the middle of the windshield.
Trini threatens the boys every time they get in “Zack if you put a dent in the roof I’ll kill you” and “Jason if you make us crash you’re paying for the damages.”
She doesn’t threaten Billy or Kim
Kim gets control of the AUX cord and is the only one allowed in the passenger seat (which pisses off Zack and he tries to take it from her. Trini says she’ll throw him out the window)
They start to call her car Hulk because no matter how much shit they put that car through, it’s still in one piece (besides the missing headlight and crack in the windshield) and that it really does feel like it’s indestructible.
One day Kim decides to have Billy hotwire Hulk so she can take him to the shop to “Paint over the ugly grey”
Trini catches them and just stands there looking all disappointed at her girlfriend with her arms crossed as Billy goes, “KIM MADE ME DO IT, I SWEAR!!”
Trini forgives Billy
She doesn’t forgive Kimberly
Later that same week, it’s Trini’s birthday so Kim wakes Billy up at 6 in the morning to steal Hulk. Kim takes it to the shop and replaces the light and windshield.
They drive back to an angry Trini which quickly grows into a happy Trini because, “Holy shit, both of the lights work again!!!”
The next day Trini notices painted pink lips in the corner of her trunk, which she didn’t notice before. Kim just smiles from the passenger seat as she hears Trini, “Kimberly!”
Hulk is the coolest car in the parking lot of Angel Grove. Everyone constantly asks Trini she’ll give them a ride. She tells them to fuck off. (They grumble when Trini lets Kimberly in)
Billy buys Trini a power ranger sticker family (Even though Trini swore that she’d never put a sticker on Hulk, she does it anyways because it’s Billy and she didn’t know that people were making them into car stickers now but she thinks it’s pretty damn cool)
Trini gives her spare key to Kimberly
Zack tries to steal it
Sometimes the gang shows up to school late because, “Kimberly, did you take my key?” “What? No, Trini, I haven’t seen your key, I have my own.” Trini and Kim then start bickering about using Kim’s key and Billy just goes, “It’s in your hand, Trini.”
Jason wants to sell his truck for a land cruiser
He doesn’t because, “Jason if you get a wannabe Hulk I’ll cut your balls off.”
It’s almost like Kimberly lives in that car. Her sweatshirts and various articles of clothing are everywhere
One day when it’s just Zack and Trini, Zack just holds up a pink bra. (Trini slams on the brakes in the middle of traffic just to punch him all while her face gets red) Zack doesn’t stop laughing.
No matter how many laws they seem to break with Hulk, they never get caught
“I feel like I owe so much of my career to Amy Winehouse. Her first album, Frank, really changed my life. I used to see her on TV or in magazine shoots with a pink electric guitar, and I used to think she was the coolest motherfucker on the face of the Earth. And because of her, I picked up a guitar and because of her, I wrote my own songs. The songs I got signed on were the songs that I wrote completely on my own. If it wasn’t for her, that wouldn’t have happened. I owe 90 percent of my career to her. I’m obviously completely happy with all the music that she left behind because it’s all genius. But every day, I wish I could hear a new song from her.” -Adele on Amy Winehouse
She is a lesbian latinx hero from a Utopian universe who came to our world just because she wanted to be a hero.
Her moms died saving the multiverse so as a kid she runs away because she wants to be just like them.
She has superstrength, speed, flight, and she’s bulletproof
But by far one of her coolest powers is she can create portals between alternate universes.
America started off as a stereotypical latinx character, but under Kieron Gillen, she was written as a calm person who thought through her next move. She is quick to fight, but when it’s necessary because she knows she’ll win. She’s also an uber dork who believes in love and hope. Not something you see from the quiet characters.
She has appeared in Young Avengers, A-Force, Siege Secret Wars, and The Ultimates She’s a powerhouse character who impresses heroes in the A league like Monica Rambeau
Now after years of people asking for her own book and her increasing popularity she’s finally getting her own solo book! It was announced at NYCC and will be called America with the first preview done by @mckelvie and Matt Wilson
We need to support this book! Show Marvel that this is our hero.
