My Human Mate

Leonard McCoy is your big brother, not by blood, but by choice. Your choice to be exact, he had taken you under his wing, and had decided to keep you in his little pack. He would make sure you were taken care of, and that you were not alone anymore.

“Len!! Hurry up! We need to get to the ship!”

The werewolf growled at you but heaved himself off the couch, grabbing his medical bag, “I don’t want to go to the ship”

“Tough shit, Len! I already commed Jim, he’s expecting us”

“I won’t be bullied by a human, or the pup”

“It isn’t bullying. Everyone is going to be there. I want to meet the crew! The only one I’ve met is Jim! You’re constantly bitching about them; I want to meet this pain in the ass crew!”

“You’re just a human, Y/N. There are too many creatures on that ship for you to be completely safe! It’s a hug risk for Starfleet to even put you on the five-year mission!”

“Jim is just a incubus! He’s practically human!” You shout.

“He was also trained to kill both Weres and Vamps!” Len lets out a low growl. You knew that he was nervous, you were his little sister, only 19 years old. Len also hated to fly, so that didn’t help.

You turn on the water works, knowing that your puppy of a big brother can’t stand to see you cry, “P-please, Len?”

“Fine! We’ll go! But you had better stay by me the entire time, I don’t want you to be alone with anyone”

“How’s that gonna work when we ship off?”

“I’ll deal with that when it comes. For now, it’s just a get together where the senior members get to meet all of the new crew mates.”

“I know!! If I promise to stay by you, can we leave?”

“Yes, but you have to promise”

“Fine, I promise”

Meeting the mismatched crew/family is surprisingly simple. Sulu is calm, he loves his plants and his weapons, but he won’t tell you what exactly he is. Pavel is a feline Were, he bounces around, excited to meet and be pet by everyone. Nyota is a Vamp, she is professional, almost cold, but also willing to get to know you.

You stick your hand out, “Hi! I’m Y/N, I’m Len’s little sister”

Nyota’s lip twitches, “Hello, Jim speaks very highly of you, he said that you are a good influence on our temperamental wolf”

“I’ll show you temperamental …” Len growled, taking a step forward

You plant yourself in front of them, “I told you that I wanted a nice evening, and I want to get to know everyone. Now you put him away and play nice, you can growl and throw a fit later when we go out, but right now I want to go inside”

You storm past Len and call out to your friends, who are already there. Leonard quickly scrambles behind you, not wanting to let you out of his sight. There had been no sign of Jim or Spock and Len refused to allow you to be alone with either of them.

“Where’s the Captain, and that green-blooded hobgoblin?”

“They went out to see the Admirals, said that they needed to speak to the two before our meeting, presumably about your girl over there” Nyota said, sipping her wine.

“Good, I don’t want any surprises. Y/N needs to be kept safe”

Ny raises one perfectly manicured eyebrow, “You think either one of them would hurt her?”

“She’s special, probably a mate to some supernatural creature. Were’s might not be telepathic like Vamps, but even I can tell that her mind is special. It’s one of the reasons I took her into my pack, she would have been eaten alive otherwise.”

Nyota nods, “I notices that as soon as the two of you arrived. Her mind is extremely compatible”

Len growls, “Stay away from her”

“I don’t want, Y/N. You don’t have to worry about me, or anyone in this room right now. They would have made a move is she was theirs, but be wary of the two who are not yet here. If her mind is that compatible with a strange Vamp, I don’t even want to think about how compatible she would be to him”

You run back over to Len, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, pup. Just catching up with an old friend”

“Alright, well the others said that Jim and Spock are here, so I’m going to go meet them”

“NO!”

You jerk back, surprised at the sudden outburst, “Seriously, what’s wrong? You were fine a few minutes ago, and now you’re acting weird”

At that moment the turbolift opened and Jim and Spock step into the Rec Room. “Captain, I do not understand how you cannot smell that, or even feel that. Are Incubi truly that close to humans?”

“Come on, Spock! Don’t be mean! You know my kind isn’t telepathic unless someone is dreaming! I can only smell Bones and his little sister, Y/N”

“Perhaps Doctor McCoy knows where the smell is coming from”

You glance at Len, “Do we smell funny? I don’t think I smell funny”

Your eyes shoot up when Spock lets out a low growl, “Leonard, step away from my mate”

“Your mate? I don’t even know who you are!”

Spock sniffs the air again, “You are human”

Rolling your eyes, you put your hands on your hips, “Obviously. Now you two need to get in there, introduce yourselves, and sit down. No one wanted to start eating with the Captain and Commander here”

You walk away, hiding around the corner. You really want to know what is going to be said about you.

“She is my mate” Spock announces. You hear several people raise their voice at the announcement, but you can’t really focus on them. Spock thinks that you are his mate!

“Are you aware that you think rather loudly?”

You yelp. You hadn’t even been paying attention and Spock had snuck up on you. “I-I … um … sorry?”

“You have nothing to be ashamed of, ashaya. I would enjoy getting to know you better. Your mind is extremely compatible with mine and I believe that you would be an optimal mate”

You can hear Len snarling and shouting in the other room, “You stay away from my sister you green-blooded hobgoblin!! I’ll tear your throat out!! Don’t touch her!”

“I-I think you make Len really mad”

Spock’s lip twitches in a small smile, “Worry not about the doctor, ashaya. Nyota and Jim shall calm him down in time for dinner.” He holds out his arm for you and you place a hand at his elbow, “Now, are you amiable to being courted by me?”

You can’t stop the blush that appears on your cheek and Spock inhales, “I think that I would like that, Spock”

“NO, PUP, NO!!!!” Leonard howls

Spock chuckles quietly, “Do you believe that Leonard will challenge me, my human?”

“I don’t think so, he’ll be mad for a while, but he’ll get over it, as long as you treat me right”

“I will treat you like a princess, ashaya. However, if he does challenge me, I will enjoy defeating him in front of you”

You chuckle and shake your head. These boys are going to be the death of you. You are the sister of a wolf, and the mate of a vampire. How the hell is this ship going to survive that?

Name: She is my sister, Bones!
Pairing: Bones x reader!Kirk’s sister
Summary: the reader is Kirk’s twin sister who he has always taken care of, then one day he comes in Bones’ room, looking for him, and runs in the reader and Leonard cuddling.
Author’s note: yes, I have a lot of requests. I am working on them. But right now I need this type of writing.

“You are warm,” you murmur, pressing your cold hands against Leonard’s neck, and he gasps, leaning back and then returning to you momentarily.

“You are freaking cold!” he grabs your hands and smiles at you. “Why wouldn’t you just wear gloves before going down with Chekov?”

“We were playing snowballs! I had gloves, but they were uncomfortable,” McCoy sighs and rolls his eyes, raising one hand and gently stroking your cheek.

“Such a child,” he wraps his hands around you, pulling you closer and murmuring something about you being a complete idiot. You grin and try not to laugh, feeling absolutely safe and perfect in his arms, sitting on a couch with a huge blanket wrapped around you.

“Leonard?”

“What?” he asks, pretending to be grumpy, but you feel how he carefully strokes your back, trying to pull you as close as possible, to make sure that you are getting warmer.

“Nothing,” you smile. “I am glad you are not mad at me.”

“Of course I am mad! What do you think you are doing, ricking your health? Your brother will take my head off,” he thinks then adds quickly. “Twice.”

“Jim wouldn’t!” you laugh, and McCoy joins you, as you rest your head on his shoulder and close your eyes, pressing your nose against his neck.

“Yeah, he would,” Leonard leans back, still holding you with both hands, and plants a soft kiss on your palm, feeling how you almost curl in a ball in his hands, totally melting in the warmth of his body. “My little stupid Kirk.”

“There are two of us,” you grin. “One is the captain, I bet you wouldn’t call him ‘little’ and ‘stupid’… Would you?”

“You bet I would,” you nod, knowing that he actually would.

“Bones, I’ve been looking for… Oh,” Jim walks in the room and stops, not seeing your face, but clearly understanding that McCoy is having his personal time with a crewman. “Sorry… Doctor McCoy, you are needed in the Sickbay.”

“I am on my rightful break, Jim,” Bones answers, hiding a huge grin by keeping his face behind your head.

“I am sorry, doctor, but I cannot find my sister. I am afraid she may be in trouble,” you honestly are trying not to giggle.

“Jim, I am sure she is fine and having fun. She is a grown person, let her go,” Leonard advises him and presses his lips against your temple.

“She is my sister, I am supposed to take care of her. Will you help me find her?” you roll your eyes - even though Jim in only minutes older than you, he took you as his responsibility.

“Jim, chill!” you turn to him, not pulling away from Leonard even for a second. “I am seriously fine and having more fun than you are.”

“Y/N?” you grin and nod. “Bones?” Bones nods, not trying to pretend that he is ashamed of his hands holding you so possessively. “You two are…”

“Mm-hm.”

“Why?”

“Because your best friend is awesome,” you answer simply, as Leonard tries not to laugh at Jim’s terrified face. “You’d feel worse if I were with Spock, so chill.”

“But… Uhm… I am the captain…”

“And I am your lieutenant. Spending my free time with your doctor. We checked, it’s not forbidden by the law of Mister Spock,” Bones giggles, as you pull away and look at your brother. “Jim, nothing is wrong here.”

“It certainly looks wrong. I… will head back to the Bridge and pretend that I never saw anything,” he storms out of cabin, and you turn to McCoy, both of you trying not to laugh at the thought of his surprised, almost terrified face.

“He reacted well.”

“Better than we expected,” you smile, leaning forward and gently kissing him. Bones quickly kisses you back, then frowns. ‘What’s wrong?”

“Your brother, Y/N… It’s always your brother.”

“What about my tiny ball of brotherly love?” Leonard rolls his eyes, annoyed by your endless love for your brother which will stop you from understanding that Bones is in huge risk of being murdered.

“He may kill me now.”

“I don’t think he will. He is nice and just very caring…”

“So caring, I just felt his glance skin me,” you realize that Kirk did look like he wanted to kill the doctor.

“Oh, don’t overreact, he wouldn’t…” the communicator turns on, and you hear Jim’s voice.

“Doctor McCoy, report to Sickbay. Lieutenant Kirk, report to the Bridge… Now, we have an immediate issue.”

“Of my brother being over-possessive of me,” you whisper, then turn the communicator on. “Yes, captain.”

“Yes, he would, sunshine. Come on, we have to head back to the job,” McCoy helps you up and pulls you close, holding your face with both hands. You have noticed long time ago that after McCoy divorced, his opinion on relationships was rather sceptic, but your relationship really changed him, even though he still was very paranoid about ever letting you go.

“I will see you tonight,” you promise quietly, pressing your lips against his.

“Don’t let your brother do weird stuff, ok?” Leonard asks at the end, smiling at your eyes, locked on his face.

“Promise.”

I would sleep better on your floor, than I would ever in my bed, and if your carpet makes my face itch, it’d still be heaven in my head. I would play more than just four chords, if it’s a song that you might like. And I am not very good, but I would practice every night.

And she said, “Sometimes, things just don’t work out the way you want them to. Sometimes, things just don’t work out, the way they should flow through. Sometimes things just don’t work out, the way you want them to. Sometimes things just don’t work out, it’s better me than it is you.”

“Break your neck, and I will love you like a bird that cannot fly, you will be fine” and she said, “Break your neck, and I will love you every night, you will be mine.

Part 12

There was a ringing in your ears that brought you to the realm of semi-consciousness.  So many sounds coming from around you and try as you might you could not make your eyes open.  Someone said your name, you tried to turn your head in that direction but your body refused to cooperate.  Then there was a warm hand on your forehead.  You were sure it was Leonard but you could not assure him you were all right.  Everything faded as the darkness pulled you under.

“Damn it, get that blood going on rapid infusion her vitals are still weak.”  Leonard looked like a lunatic giving out orders with several of the medical team rushing around your bed.  So many tricorders and alarms going off as they worked to keep you with them. Jim stood at one of the other beds, glancing in worry over his shoulder as he stayed with the baby.  M’Benga was currently looking her over, as Leonard had demanded.

“She is perfect, Captain. No evidence of harm from the abruption. Her vital signs are normal and her blood levels are exactly as they should be.  [Y/N] is a smart woman she knew what was going on and she made sure that baby was safe.”  Looking back to the sweet face of that baby he delivered, Jim could not help but notice the resemblance to you.  He only hoped she got your happy, carefree personality and not Leonard’s crabbiness.

“Thanks Doc.  I know Bones and [Y/N] will be glad to know she is good.”  Quietly he picked her up and held her, afraid to let her go.  He was petrified right now that they would all lose you. Leonard would never recover if you did not make it.  Not to be left alone with a newborn that looked just like her beautiful mother. That was just Leonard, if he had to tell the crew you had died delivering your daughter there were going to be many tears.  Jim’s among them.  Your friendship had grown so much in the time you had been aboard, you were almost like the sister he never had.  No, he could not lose you either. “Hey Doc…”

M’Benga turned with a knowing smile.  “They are doing all they can right now.  She lost more blood than… well let’s just say it was a lot.”  They both worried as the team continued their efforts swarming the bed. One of the nurses walked towards Jim.

“Captain, since the doctor cannot feed the baby right now, I need to make sure she is fed.  May I take her from you?”  The question sounded idiotic in his mind.  No, she could not take the baby.  He was not letting go of her until Bones or you asked him to. This was his godchild and he would be damned if something happened to her right now.

“No, show me how to feed her.  This kid stays with me until her parents are ready for her.”  The nurse smiled, nodding her head.  It did not take long for her to move Jim to one of the quieter exam rooms and explain what he needed to do.  Soon the baby was drinking away without an issue.  “That’s a girl.  You should feel honored, kid.  You are the first baby I have ever held or fed.  Though I’m pretty, sure this will become a common thing.  I’m growing kind of attached to you now.  I mean look at all the stuff we have been through together already.  I promise I will keep you safe, just like your mom and dad will.  Your mom is going to be fine.  She is too strong to let a little thing like losing all of her blood get her.”  It was quite some time, which he sat, staring at her as she finished her feeding.

Hours later, the sickbay was quiet.  There were no alarms beeping only the quiet tones of the heart monitor on the biobed where your body lay.  You became more aware of your surroundings as the pain between your legs roused you. That was a new feeling that you were not overly fond of, but you did just push a baby out.  Baby… oh God where was the baby?  Was she all right?  You fought harder to move your body, this time it responded.  Moving your head towards the left, you opened your eyes grateful for the dimmed lighting of the room.  The room was empty; you hoped that Leonard was with the baby, keeping her safe. The bed alarmed, signaling the increase in your heart rate as you tried to sit up.  “[Y/N], lay down darlin’!  Don’t try to move too much.  You have no idea what your body went through today.  You are damn lucky we got you back…  We almost lost…”

There was no way to miss the tears in your husband’s eyes, even in the darkened room.  Your heart hurt for the pain that he must have gone through today.  “I’m sorry, love.  I am so sorry.”  You reached up to cup his face.  He leaned down to kiss you gently.

“Please don’t ever do that to me again.  I couldn’t survive losing you.”  Leaning his head against your, he tried to blink away the tears.

“Is she okay?  Is our baby all right, Leonard?  I need to see my baby.”  He smiled with a short nod.

“She is perfect. ‘Uncle Jim’ hasn’t put her down since she was born.  [Y/N] she is so damn beautiful.  She looks just like you.”  The happiness and tears in his voice made your heart swell.  “Let me go get her, they are both sleeping in one of the exam rooms. I threatened anyone if they woke them up they would have to deal with me.”

There was nothing else you could do but smile. It was nearly a minute before he returned but in that time, you had lifted the back of the bed so you could sit up.  It had taken a lot of energy and you were out of breath but it did not matter, all you wanted was to see her.  When Leonard returned, you could see a brief wisp of brown hair on her head.  He set her in your arm and you were instantly in love.  She was the most beautiful thing you had ever seen and you could not take your eyes off her.  You tried to memorize every aspect of her as you forgot everything else around you. Jim stood at the door with his hair in complete disarray, yawning as he watched you meet your daughter.

You finger traced over her soft cheek as she slept in your arms.  It did not feel real, that this was the child that had grown within you for all of those weeks.  The one you could feel move and kick.  She left you speechless.  There was nothing to say.  You were content just to stare at her for the rest of your life.

“At some point, [Y/N] we are gonna have to give this little one a name.”  Leonard’s words broke through the new mommy fixation.  Looking up to your husband’s face it dawned on you that you two had not settled on a name for a girl.  The boy’s name had come easy to you both.  However, the girl’s name had been difficult.

“We never decided…” He laughed quietly, kissing her little head.

“I know darlin’.  We should probably do that now.  I still like your mama’s name.”  You pursed your lips looking at her.  It was not difficult to see she did look a bit like your mother.  Though, you did too.

“Are you an Analynn, little one?”  She took a deep breath in her sleep, sighing quietly.  Everyone laughed, making you aware that Jim had been watching the entire interaction.

“I think Analynn is a beautiful name.  It fits her.” Jim commented from his spot against the doorframe.  You smiled at him as much as your tired body would allow, he winked at you.  Sometime soon, you would thank him for saving your baby and doing something you knew to be very difficult.  Looking down at your daughter, you beamed.

“Analynn Margaret McCoy.” Leonard nearly ruptured the muscles in his face with the width of that smile that appeared.

“Mama is going to cry when she hears that.”  Kissing your forehead, he pulled you both close.  After the day he had, Leonard wanted to make sure you were both where he could keep you safe.  In his arms at that moment was as safe as you would ever be.

It took time for you both to get used to being parents to a newborn.  Though, you far longer than Leonard.  With his experience with Joanna and you still healing from everything you felt exhausted, constantly.  The lack of sleep was certainly something you were not prepared for even working on a ship with rotating schedules and chaos at all hours.  Analynn did not know what the meaning of sleep was for the first month. It astounded you on how alert and awake she could be all the time. She would nap for a short time before she would be up again for hours.  Leonard helped as much as he could in between shifts in sickbay.  However, the exhaustion got to him too and you could not be angry when he would pass out on the couch as he walked in the door of your quarters.

You found that Analynn liked to be walked around the ship.  The colors, the lights and the gentle thrum of the ship’s engine seemed to calm her.  If she did not end up on a ship in her adult life, you would be surprised.  On one of the many walks you would have around the ship, Nyota found you wandering the halls with Analynn over your shoulder just looking at the lights.

“Again?”  She asked with a brow raised.  With a loud sigh and a nod, you stopped before her.

“Always.  Leonard is stuck in surgery and she won’t sleep.  So that means I don’t sleep.”  She gave you a sympathetic smile.

“Let me take her for a while so you can nap.  I don’t have anything to do and trust me you look like you need it.  Plus it’s been a while since I have gotten to love on a baby. Little lady and I will have fun.”  Your first instinct was to tell her no.  As a mother, you should be able to take care of your child without help.  But that instinct was crushed to bits at the prospect of sleeping more than twenty minutes.

“Are you sure?  I’m okay really…”  Nyota frowned shaking her head before starting to lift Analynn from your arms.

“No you aren’t.  Go to bed, we will be fine I promise.”  You kissed her cheek and almost ran back to your quarters.  Even an hour would feel like a year at this point.

Nyota walked the halls for an hour until she could not stand looking at the walls of another corridor any longer.  “Sorry kid, you and I need a change of scenery.  Let’s see what the mess hall has for us tonight.”

Nyota grabbed a cup of coffee and a small tray of food that one of the engineering ensigns brought to a table for her since Analynn was in her arms.  Before too long everyone wanted to see the baby.  Nyota had a crowd of people around smiling and cooing at Analynn.  Sulu had squeezed his way to one of the seats at the table and had somehow persuaded Nyota to let him hold the baby.  She ate while he made funny faces and baby talk at the little girl in his arms.

“I remember Demora at this age.  She was such a happy baby.  Ben said we had hit the jackpot with her.  I think the best day was when she smiled that first time.”  Nyota smiled over his coffee mug.

“You must miss them so much.”  Sulu nodded with a sigh not taking his eyes of Analynn.

“Every moment.”

Leonard and Jim walked into the mess hall deep in conversation though both noticed the group gathered at one of the side tables. “Wonder what is going on there.”  As they walked towards the line for coffee Jim saw the center of all of their attention.

“I do believe your daughter and my godchild already knows how to draw a crowd.”  He laughed as he turned to walk off.

“My daughter?” Leonard followed behind with a confused look.  As he saw Analynn, now in Scotty’s arms, not with you, he became more confused.  “Where is [Y/N]?”

Nyota smiled as she finished off her coffee.  “She is taking a nap.  Seems Miss Analynn did not want to sleep so I gave [Y/N] time to herself so she could rest. She looked awful.”

“Aye, aren’t ya the prettiest lass there ever was.”  Scotty cooed to her.  Leonard smiled; of course, she was just like you and could charm anyone just by looking at them.

“Of course she is. She is my godchild.”  Jim stepped up taking the baby from Scotty whose smile fell instantly.

“Aww I finally got ta hold the wee thing.”

“I haven’t gotten to hold her all day Scotty.  She missed her ‘Uncle Jim’.”  The fight over who got to hold her continued for another few moments before Leonard stepped in.

“Her daddy needs to hold her and then go check on her mama.”  Another round of disappointed sounds arose.  Leonard pulled his baby girl against his chest before kissing her head. “Come on, sugar let’s go home.”

By the time Leonard reached your quarters, a few thoughts had crossed into his head.  He found you fast asleep, face down on your bed.  Your hair was a mess; he figured you had not showered in a few days, at least.  That may have been partly his fault since he had been so busy in sickbay recently, or every day really.  Was there really a time when he had not been too busy he could not see straight?

From the moment he stepped onto the Enterprise is had been one crazy mission after another.  So many injuries and death from one ship.  How many surgeries had he done, how many wounds had he healed?  Now with this little one, who was now fast asleep in his arms and his beautiful, tired wife passed out in their bed how was he supposed to be the husband he should be?

He set Analynn down in her bassinet before he took a shower.  Thankfully, she stayed asleep as he climbed into bed next to you.  He did not dare try to move you for fear of waking you from the longest stretch of sleep you had had since the baby was born. Unfortunately, try as he may, Leonard was unable to fall asleep with all of the thoughts going through his mind.

He was still awake hours later when Analynn did wake up, he knew what that cry was.  She was hungry and there was no way around waking you up this time.  You stirred at the sound of the baby’s cry.  Rubbing your eyes as you moved to a sitting position on the bed.  “Is she okay?”

“I think she is hungry, it’s been a while since she ate.  Though, she has been sleeping a few hours now.”

“A few hours?  Wow, I didn’t even realize how long it had been since I fell asleep.  I seriously feel like a new person.”  He smiled down at you as he handed you the baby to nurse.  Once you were settled with Analynn content against you, you looked over at Leonard.  “You all right?  You look like you have something on your mind.”

He laughed moving in close to you, resting his head against yours so he could watch the baby.  “You know me too well, Mrs. McCoy.”

“It’s Doctor McCoy, thank you.  What’s going on in that big brain of yours Leonard?”

He was unsure how to approach the subject tactfully.  So he just let it fall out on its own.  “I think we should resign from Starfleet and go back home.”

Return - Part 9 - Jim Kirk

Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5 / Part 6 / Part 7 / Part 8

Summary: series following the events of loot– takes place during events of star trek beyond. in this chapter, you’re #TeamScotty.

Warnings: language

A/N: not my favorite part in the least but part 10 is a million times better and this part is necessary to the narrative. also, please continue sending me good energy and luck and juju, angels– i need it

Seated on the bridge with your legs crossed at the knee, you watched Leonard pace, Spock stand almost impossibly still, and Jim lean against the captain’s chair. You almost snorted at the thought that he was only leant there to prevent Jaylah from sitting— you wouldn’t put it past him to do that.

“We should go,” Jim stated in his Captain-mode voice, one hand toying with the loaded belt of his trousers and the other at his side.

“We should wait until we’re absolutely sure,” Scotty argued, his red operations uniform now covered by a black leather jacket he’d found on board. His voice was more certain, more pressing than you’d ever heard it.

“No, we have to get the crew back now. Chekov has the coordinates that can lead us to Krall’s base, so we go.”

“With respect, sir, how do we know Krall was at the base when she called him?” Scotty’s accent seemed to grow heavier with each word he uttered. “Even if he was, we don’t know that the crew is even with him.”

“Or if they’re even still alive,” Leonard said, earning a scowl from you and Jim to which he responded with a shrug.

Spock crossed the bridge to step beside Chekov, the grey fabric of the clean, bloodless outfit he wore swishing with each step. He began fiddling with the console. “Mr. Chekov, can you reconfigure the search parameters in order to compensate for this formula?”

Chekov looked down at Spock’s work and hummed. “Aye, Commander. But what is this formula?”

“It is Vokaya, Mr. Chekov. A mineral unique to Vulcan which emits low-level radiation.”

“I will have to filter out all other energy emissions,” Chekov replied, busying himself at the adjacent console so the sound of high-pitched beeps filled the air.

Leonard, just as confused as the rest of you, spoke up to ask, “Spock, what the hell would a Vulcan mineral be doing way out here?”

Jim nodded. “Yeah, where are you going with this?”

Spock turned to face all of you. “Lieutenant Uhura wears a Vokaya amulet which I presented to her as a token of my affection and respect.”

“That blue thing?” you said, narrowing your eyes questioningly at Spock as he nodded.

Leonard frowned. “You gave your girlfriend radioactive jewelry?”

Beyond ... vulcan.

This movie is my favorite of the new Star Trek movies because of the pure Spirk whispering through every scentence and look Jim and Spock gives each other. And one of the intense is when Jim is again on the edge of dying, when Spock and Bones are saving him. Bones flying while Spock pulls Jim into the swarmship.

Nothing new so far. But then Jim tells Spock again - I believe it’s the third time in this movie! - that he doesn’t know what he would do without Spock. (Bones said the same to Spock hours before, while Spock clearly didn’t believed him.) But this time Jim is breathless, clearly in pain but not in state of lying nor telling Spock things to encourage him for holding on while Spock is deathly wounded.

‘What would I do without you, Spock?’

Just one question. And please just look at the gif. Watch how Spock looks at Jim. This is the same Spock, who had broken up with Uhura over the years over and over again. Via verse. The same Spock who hadn’t had a problem with breaking his relationship with his girlfriend for making Vulcan-Babys (Bones words) and leaving Starfleet behind. And I’m sure - because we’re talking about Spock - that he did it thoughtful. Because they were in a relationship.

What he clearly left out of it was Jim. And I - for myself - ask myself, why seemed it for him so easy to cut every string attached to Starfleed, but cannot even tell Jim about his plans.

Why is it so hard for him to tell Jim - who is according to the movies alone - just Spocks Captain and friend?

Because he’s clearly in love with Jim.

(And that’s not the Slasher in me talking!)

When we’re looking back to the movies: We had

Star Trek - 2009.

Jim and Spock making a rough, but good Team. We doesn’t get so much bonding. But enough to tell that they will be good in working together and not against each other. They’re something like a Team. Nothing more right at the end of the movie.

Then comes Star Trek Into Darkness and we see them argumenting, all the time and yet clear short scenes in which they show their worry about each other. Over and over again. Even when Spocks worry is a lot harder to detect while Jims is … overwhelming. Jim saving Spock and clearly choosing the vulcan over his crew and command. And, while clearly annoyed with Spocks behavior, never making any attempt to get rid of him. Not once. Because ‘he’ll miss him!’.

Then there is Spock clearly overwhelmed by Jims open emotions to which he doesn’t know to react. He has Jim who tells him, that he’ll miss Spock. Next he’s loosing Pike their friend and cries while holding onto Spock. Then Jim looses his controll and is clearly in rage about Khan. So emotional that Spock knows he’ll die in the attempt to save them and their ship and Spock needs to be by his side, to save him. So for the first time, the very first time, Spock reaches for Jim.

‘I cannot allow you to do that!’

And if Jim is cleary again annoyed by him, in the end he’s telling Spock again what he’s feeling. That he thinks that Spock is the better Captain. And maybe this is the moment in which Spock could calculate, that Jim likes him. Because Jim loves the Enterprise and his Crew and never he would left them to someone he wouldn’t trust without his whole being. To nobody.

And yet he gives everything he loves to Spock!

By the end of the movie, Jim sacrificed himself and telling Spock something with only one gesture while dying what couldn’t be clearer by words. Shocking Spock with it’s meaning. Because now Spock could understand …

Laying his hand onto the glass and clearly wishing to touch Spock is a sign of love. Not just a simple goodbye. We know from enough Vulcan interaction from TOS that Vulcans DO NOT touch hands when there isn’t at least a bond between them. (T’Pring and Spock-Prime met after decades and they layed their hands in a Ta’al together. Touching and caressing each other for a moment. Because of their bond.)
And we know Jim isn’t someone who does things without consider it at least. He does what he believes is the right thing to do. He trusts his feelings. So … reaching for Spock isn’t just a goodbye and if you look into Spocks eyes, you see he’s realising it, too.

That’s why he returned the gesture. For the second time in STID - Only for Jim - Spock does something which isn’t based on logic. If, he would just hold up his hand and would not pressing his fingers against the glass.
The movie is really long, but the most intense development we get is showed in those two minutes. And by the lost of Spocks logic as he hunts Khan down like the ancient vulcan he’s and which is in control.

So back to Beyond. The first thing we learn is, that Jim has some personal problems where he asks himself what his meaning is in this world. But while he speaks and talkes about the relationships forming on board. Then he’s switching to his own opinion and feelings. Spock is showed from behind, like he’s being watched. Jim says in exactly this moment:
I’m asking myself, the further we get, what do we really want to reach? If the cosmos really is infinit, then doesn’t we reach for something we’ve nerver get? (That’s the german scentense)

And while they coud show everyone in this scene. They clearly choosed for Spock. For me this isn’t just subtext. It’s clearly spoken for what it is. Jim got finally to the point of knowing, where he’s aware to love Spock. But at the same time aware that he’s not avaible for Jim. And yet he never gives up in telling Spock how he feels.

“Yeah, that’s why I need you to be save!”
Subtext, because Jim cannot think straight if Spock is injured.

And Spock realised that Leonard was right. The ‘I told you so’ is written all over Leonards face, when Spock looks at the doc. And yet he’s still fighting it. So why? Why cannot Spock accept that Jim needs him?

Is it too hard to believe that Jim really cares? No. Because he did realised years ago how deep Jim felt for him. So believing isn’t the problem.

Is it maybe that Jim is too human or emotional? We could say maybe, but I doubt it to be the reason because Spock himself is for a partly Vulcan-Being emotional and doesn’t seemed to be in trouble with it. I even have the feeling that he tries to interact a little bit more human because of his friends.

I tell you why.

While Spock knows Uhura as a strong person he cares about, he also knows that she doesn’t need him. They clearly care about each other deeply. But at the same time doesn’t have any trouble to be separated or break up their relationship. So leaving her is easy.

Leaving Jim is not, when he knows that his growing love toward his friend and Captain is returned and welcomed.

So he’s fighting it until the very end. Until …

he cannot fight it anymore. Not, when Spock was again about to lose Jim. Not when Jim tells Spock by himself how much he needs him.

So what we see here is Spock really accepting that Jim needs him. That Jim needs him more than his own culture and species needs him. So … choosing now the Vulcan-Species or Jim. He doesn’t even needs a second to know that he’s choosing Jim. Because the one man Spock loves with his whole being needs him.

And is from now on his new responsibility.

And I’m sure, if there will be a next movie. We’ll see the get together. Because we have all three things what comes right before forming a relationship.
Get to know each other
Trust each other
Fall in love and accept the feeling.

Sherlolly prompt: Undercover sherlolly (or just sherlock) as an appliance repairman (bonus points for Molly admiring his plumber's crack if that's not too risque!)

I DIED when I got this ask! I have a husband in the construction field (yes I swoon over a tool belt just as much as a well tailored suit hehe) and he often works around the house so…yeah it’s not an unfamiliar concept lol. Had fun coming up with this CRACK fic muahaha…enjoy! ;D

Molly nearly jumped three feet in the air as she let herself and her date into her flat…and saw a man standing in her kitchen. And especially because it wasn’t just any man.

“My God, what are you doing here, Sh-”

“’At’s right, Miss,” he said, gesturing to his name tag. “Name’s Shawn. Ope you don’t mind your landlord let me in to work on that pesky dishwasher at’s been givin you troubles.”

Molly sighed heavily and glanced at her poor confused date standing next to her. “Um, sorry about this, Brent.”

“Not a problem,” he said with a smile.

Pretty Little Thing - Star Trek

“Ok I’ve never requested before but since you need more mybe you could do a Captain Kirk one where the reader thinks he’s cheated on them?”

James Kirk waved a hand over the door sensor and stepped forward, expecting to enter your quarters but bumping into the still closed door instead. He took a step back, confusion spreading across his face.

“Computer, open the door.” He commanded the door pad.

“Access to this area by Kirk, James T, has been revoked.” The mechanical voice sounded.

‘Revoked? Shit’ He thought, stepping closer to the door pad. He pressed the intercom button and spoke in a strained whisper so no one walking down the hallway would be able to hear.

“Come on Y/N. Let me in.”

Nothing happened.

“Please! I can explain.”

A brief second passed before the door slid open. Kirk stepped in quickly, where he was immediately hit by a flying boot.

“EXPLAIN!?” You shouted. “I don’t want your damn explanations you ASS”

He ducked as another boot flew towards him. He straightened and looked over at you. ‘Shit’ he thought again. You stood a few short feet from him, breathing heavily. Your hands were clenched into fists and shaking at your side. Your face, and eyes were red and streaked with tears. Through your puffy lids, he saw burning anger that both terrified him and made his heart sink.

“Listen I—“ He started.

“Did it not occur to you that as I security officer I do in fact actually WATCH THE SECURITY TAPES!” You moved to throw one of your pillows at him.

He caught it and lurched forward, grabbing your arm.

“Y/N PLEASE! Calm down” He begged

“I cannot believe you threw everything we have away for an alien trollop you met YESTERDAY!” You hissed, yanking your arm away

“I didn’t throw anything away Y/N! She kissed ME!”

“Oh please Jim. Everyone in Starfleet knows Captain Kirk can’t keep his hands off pretty little alien ambassadors.” You stepped back and sank to edge of your bed. Anger fading to sadness.

He cautiously sat next to you. He clasped his hands together and rested his elbows on his knees, dropping his head to look at the floor.

“Y/N you know the Akitei. They don’t have the restraint we do. You didn’t finish the tape did you?”

“If I saw anymore I would have had a heart attack in front of everyone in security.” You mumbled.

“Then you missed the part where I pushed her away and told her I was taken didn’t you? I think…I think she was trying to seduce me to gain my support for their request to join the Federation. They’re desperate.” He unclasped his hands and moved one to your knee. “I promise you Y/N. You are the only pretty little thing I can’t keep my hands off of.”

You lifted you head and looked at him. Puppy dog blues gazed at you through his stupidly long lashes. A half grin tugged at the corner of his mouth as he raised an eyebrow at you questioningly.

“I hate you.” You mumbled, rolling your eyes. His grin widened and he bent forward to plant a quick peck on your forehead.

“I love you too.” He said, thumbs moving to wipe away the tears lingering on your cheeks.

“And I will be reviewing the rest of that tape Kirk.” You stated, as he began to pepper your jawline with nibbles.

“Mmmmhmm.” He mumbled, dragging his mouth over yours. You could feel his shit eating grin through your lips and shook your head as you moved to wrap your arms around his neck.

Okay so I have for a long time had a headcanon that Amanda Grayson is a legitimate badass. Like, she has floral tattoos all up and down her back and shoulders, she used to ride motorcycles and had a bunch of guys for friends. Her father was abusive and her mother had three other daughters and two sons, so she joined a gang and became able to hold her own in a fight and then win fights and she knows how to use weapons and cusses like a sailor- and I fully believe she was in starfleet. I think(1/?

(cont)  She joined Starfleet and joined the linguistics department and those boys from her gang love her (their not like a bad gang their just sort of a group of friends who skipped school and were super protective of one another) and are so proud of her when she goes on a starship for two years.

Then she gets into a fight with her crew member and gets resigned to teaching at starfleet because she’s good at languages. She doesn’t care, says “fuck space” and becomes the BEST teacher. And then,  One day, Starfleet asks her to act as a translator for a Vulcan ambassador who has to meet with a Deltan, and she’s like one of the best Deltan speakers. So she goes and acts as a mediator for the Deltan and some guy named… Sarek? She thinks he’s cute, but kinda stuck-upish.

Later that evening she goes out with her friends and walks home alone- she gets grabbed and dragged into an alley. A voice calls him to let the woman go. The momentary confusion of the man gives her the chance and she knees the man in the balls and punches him and then whirls around to see… Sarek. He was the one who asked the man to let her go. He insists on walking her home despite the fact that she can “handle myself!"

And Sarek doesn’t understand why he likes this human so much but she’s so  so pretty and he gets this lil green blush. When they get to her house, she turns and says in perfect Vulcan  "So, is this gonna be like a an old romcom and we’re gonna fall in love now?"

And she’s mostly joking but Sarek says "I do not understand what a romcom is but I believe I may already be "falling in love with you” as the Terran phrase goes" and Amanda is so flattered and he’s so cute that she laughs and that laugh is what does it, it’s beautiful and they date for maybe a few months before marriage comes up for the first time.

Amanda jumps in. She loves Sarek. All her boys from her gang  are there and they all cry like big babies and she goes to Vulcan- and she’s hated. Everyone hates her and she doesn’t care- but the first time some lady calls Sarek a traitor Amanda screeches “I’m gonna rip your ears off!” And tackles her and Sarek has to bail his wife out of jail later but he doesn’t say a thing, he doesn’t call her illogical because Amanda is passionate and to her, this is logical.

To her, defending him is logical. They’re perfect together- oh sure they fight sometimes  But they’re so CUTE. And then Amanda gets pregnant and for the first time she is terrified. She’s terrified for herself, for her baby, for Sarek- especially when the word gets out of the baby and someone throws a rock through her window.

Spock is born and Amanda falls hard for her baby. The birth takes a lot out of her, but she is legit mom number one she never stops going and Spock is a sickly child but she believes with all her heart that Spock can do ANYTHING. She tells him that, makes sure her child can be anything he wants. She teaches him how to fight, sings him old rock songs and plays him music by people like MCR, AC/DC, Twenty One Pilots, Aerosmith- classic music. She teaches Spock how to use a gun when he’s like 8 (to Sarek’s horror) and Sarek- Sarek lets his wife raise their son the way she can because he knows this is good.

He knows Spock will prosper with her. And when Amanda dies…  When Amanda dies Sarek is heartbroken because all that, everything she survived and she dies because of someone she couldn’t fight. When Spock meets Nero, he grabs him by the collar and right there with Jim watching he clenches his fist and snarls “bitch-! this is for my fucking mother!” Before he socks him in the face in a way Amanda would be proud of.  And if somehow (fingers crossed) Amanda comes back, she says “death can’t get me!” And  Sarek and Spock are ECSTATIC.

They can’t breathe they’re so happy to have her back and she adopts the enterprise crew she’s just like THEY ARE ALL MY CHILDREN NOW and when Bones and Jim say they want to date Spock she says “if you hurt my son Im gonna kill you” and gives her blessing and welcomes them into her family. And just- GIVE ME BADASS AMANDA GRAYSON OR GIVE ME DEATH

@flamingbluepanda is having emotions in my inbox again, holy shit.

“I cannot believe I’m saying this because I told myself long ago that I neither cared nor wanted to care about Jim Kirk’s relationships– ” Nyota took a deep breath as she folded herself onto the chair across from Bones’ desk. “But just make him stop pouting okay?”

Bones grunted, hunched over a stack of PADDs that was already towering over him at full height.

“He’s just at the stage before he gets grumpy and we really don’t want him grumpy. You remember the star mapping incident–”

Bones grunts again.

“Or the Take Your Tribble To Work Day incident–

A sigh.

“Will you at least tell me what the fight was about?”

Bones raised his one left eyebrow in what Nyota could only translate to, I thought you didn’t care?

“Okay, clearly I care. A little. I mean, more so for your benefit than his.”

Bones right eyebrow joined the elevated left.

“He’s like an annoying little brother. Which is why I don’t want to think too deeply about it. Just make sure he doesn’t wreak havoc on the crew, okay? Or I will find a way to wreak havoc on him.”

A pointed glare.

She rolled her eyes. “You know I would never hurt him. Much. Unless he deserved it.” She sighed. “The least I could do would be to sick Spock on him.”

Bones shoved the PADD aside. “I changed his coffee to decaf.”

“What?”

“I had Scotty reset the replicators so Jim could only get decaf.”

“That’s low.”

“You want him whining about a caffeine headache every few hours?”

“Not really but everyone deserves caffeine.”

“You don’t know what he’s like when he comes down from a caffeine high.”

Now it was her turn to glare.

“I figured I’d get him off of it for a few weeks. Let him drink Spock’s green tea.”

“That’s just cruel.”

“Cruel to be kind, you mean.”

“I’m going to sick Spock on you.” She got up and stretched.

“Do your worst, Jim already threatened to divorce me.”

Nyota’s laugh followed her out of sick bay. She needed that.

Two things I’m happy about this morning!  New workout shirt (I really think this would help, by the way, and one of my work programs focuses on teaching empathy through reading) and my breakfast!  The breakfast is always prettier before I mix it, but man, yogurt with berries and granola is the best!  So delicious!

Tomorrow, tickets for Dave Chappelle at the ACL Live theater go on sale, and I’m really hoping I can grab two to surprise the husband!  The actual show is close to our wedding anniversary date, too, so they’d be the perfect gift!  He has been so damn sweet to me lately even though I’ve been feeling a bit icky, so I want to do this for him.  We enjoy comedy shows but haven’t been to one in a while.  Jim Gaffigan also has a show coming up there in April–that will be my back up plan (or additional plan) if I can’t get the Chappelle tickets.

I have lunch with a fabulous friend to look forward to this afternoon.  I honestly cannot believe she has time as she was just this week promoted to vice president of her international company. I honestly cannot even imagine.  Our lives are nothing alike, but that doesn’t matter because she’s an amazing person and so kind and thoughtful and warm!  Whenever we see each other, we’re able to immediately get down to important things! :)  Looking forward to it!  Now, back to work! ;)

One more chart. One more chart and then home. Jim shouldn’t be home yet. One hour of peace and…

“Dr. McCoy, there’s a patient here to see you,” Nurse Kate said when she walked over to where Leonard stood at the nurses’ station.

“I’m off in three minutes. Dr. Wright is available,” Leonard answered not so much as glancing up from the PADD in front of him.

“The patient requested you specifically.”

Leonard was grateful that he wasn’t actually holding the PADD but rather looking down at resting on the counter because otherwise it would be on the floor, possibly cracked. “Dammit, Jim,” he muttered, then looked at Kate, “What did he do this time?”

“Chemical spill in the lab.”

A ‘Passengers’ Rant

Would you like a completely accurate summation of the movie Passengers in one image? Here you go.

What the ever-loving fuck did I just witness? I mean, I’ve seen some offensive or problematic movies before, but Passengers is genuinely baffling me because of the artistic choices that were made. First off, I want you to understand above all that the problem is not the actors’ fault. Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence actually do have chemistry and it should have clicked and fit well. Hell, the reason I was gonna give this movie a try on my own before the epic backlash hit was because those are two actors that I love who are charismatic and likable and I’d have certainly enjoyed a film with them exclusively together.

However, this is going go down in history as one of the most offensive bait-and-switch situations between a misleading trailer and the actual product. Now, I can give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that maybe after the finished product was done and the initial reactions from the test audience came back, the movie studio panicked and decided to market it in a way to hide the utterly disgusting choice that Jim makes that actually creates the conflict in the film. Well, too bad, so sad. You let this psychopath write this script and make this movie with this horrifying theme and if you thought it wouldn’t do well, then you should have pulled the plug. I don’t know what kind of problems they might have had during production, but this is unacceptable.

Let me paint you the picture of what you would have had to endure, should you have seen this film.

There’s a ship flying to a new planet. The trip takes 120 years, so everyone is in hyper-sleep. About thirty years into the trip, a huge asteroid hits the ship and causes small malfunctions, one of which is a single pod opening. The passenger, Jim, races around trying to find a way to either fix it or go back to sleep, but he can’t. He spends a year or so alone and hits a low point before stumbling across the pod of Aurora (*cue massive fucking cliché eye-roll*). He looks up her info and finds her interesting and does that gross thing in movies where he falls in love with the sleeping woman and suddenly his needs mean more than hers, so he decides to wake her up. He omits the part where he woke her up so that she can die with him and courts her, but eventually she finds out and is of course furious. Meanwhile, the ship’s larger functions start failing one by one and one of the crew members accidentally wakes up as well. The crew member tells them which systems to try and fix before he dies and they fix the ship. They also figure out that there is a medical pod that can basically induce a type of hyper-sleep for one of them, but in the end they both choose to live the rest of their lives out on the ship together.

If you’re feeling vomit climb up the back of your throat, that’s great. That means you still have a conscience and a soul. Hold onto that, please.

Is that not the most disgusting fucking thing that’s ever been positively portrayed in a film since the faux-relationship between Leto!Joker and Robbie!Harley in Suicide Squad? It’s fucking heinous. It’s inexcusable. It’s completely not okay, and yet the movie seems to think that it’s romantic and they were overcoming the odds to be in “love” with each other by the end of the movie.

No.

Absolutely not.

This is not okay.

First of all, the reasoning is not strong enough for Jim’s horrifically selfish decision. Yeah, being alone for 90 years on a ship with only a robot for a friend would be a hell no one should endure, but guess what? There is no reason for you to drag someone down with you. I’m not saying that this kind of ethical dilemma hasn’t been done before, but I have never seen a movie that puffs out its chest and acts like the ends justify the means. In the movie Interstellar (spoiler alert) Matt Damon’s character couldn’t stand dying alone on a barren world and so he called the other astronauts down to save him, but the movie makes it 100% clear that he was WRONG and he paid for that selfish act with his life. Hell, that was one of the most satisfying uses of the F-word in a PG-13 film that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. (“You fucking coward.”) Furthermore, even Matt Damon’s character admits he was a coward. Owen apologizes, but it never hits home because there is no sorry. There is no apology for literally murdering Aurora for his own selfish reasons. She is rightfully furious when she finds out, but the fucking movie actually has her forgive him and choose to spend her life at his side as his wife.

Fuck. You. Sideways.

How dare you take her choice away. How dare you try to redeem this character. It doesn’t matter. The second Jim makes that choice, the audience mentally checks out because there is no redemption at that point. No one cares that he ends up saving the ship. It would have been better for them all to die on that ship together than for him to choose one person to die against their will because there was no way to put them back in the pods. It’s not possible to redeem that character.

And the baffling part is that this didn’t have to happen. The premise is actually fine the way it was presented in the trailer. If it had just been two random people waking up and having to accept their own deaths, but then they come together to fix the ship and save 5,000 people, then it would have been a fantastic movie. It could have been a deep character study and a subversion of the “fated to be together” trope. Imagine it. Imagine a sci-fi movie where two people are isolated together, and they start to like each other, but then encounter the natural conflict of a relationship. Imagine that they break up, but they’re all each other has. Imagine that they break up for simple reasons that people do. That could have been extremely interesting, to see the relationship start from scratch and then develop over time, fall apart, but then when the ship is in danger, they forgive each other and start anew. That could have been a fantastic movie.

Alternatively, if you’re a cynical person, then I have an acceptable way to keep the premise the way they wrote it without that foul ending. So Jim does wake up Aurora and she finds out the truth, and then the whole rest of the movie is her trying to murder him out of revenge. How fucking great would that have been? It would have given her agency, it would have given her excellent characterization as she unwound with rage and revenge, and it could give her the chance to redeem herself as she chose whether or not to kill him or let him live and just accept her fate without becoming the piece of slime that he was for waking her up.

What a fucking waste. That’s what Passengers is. A waste of time, talent, and an utterly reprehensible message that it’s okay to doom someone else for your own selfish reasons, and that you will in fact be rewarded for such actions.

I’ve tried to theorize if this movie would be less of an eye-sore if the genders had been flipped, but no, it’s just insulting either way. Granted, it might have been slightly more interesting if it had been Aurora who woke up Jim because it seems like the film leans on the “men are lonely and horny” trope pretty hard and I wonder if she would have held out longer with the decision to wake him up, but the fact remains the same. This is a blight on cinema. You cannot make a movie like this where a despicable act is portrayed as something positive. That is not love. There was no consent. There was no choice. And it’s worse because it involves two actors that I adore and I want to see them in projects that are worthy of their time. This movie is unworthy of anyone’s time or interest. It’s frankly one of the most offensive things I’ve seen in years and while I am sad that Pratt and Lawrence will have a box office flop, I am glad this movie is in the shitter because that’s what it is. A foul-smelling turd that should be quickly and quietly flushed down the toilet.

Oh, and don’t get me started on the Magical Negro trope they played completely straight with Laurence Fishburne.

Avoid this movie at all cost, chilluns. Don’t look back. You deserve better.

Kyo out.

((Warning: there is some transphobia in this story, on the part of two negatively represented characters. If that sort of thing is a trigger for you, please be aware.))

I have a lot of thoughts about trans lady Spock, ngl.

Like when she’s introduced to the new captain of the Enterprise for the first time, Jim just stops and stares at her, as if stricken. And Spock panics internally thinking, Oh no… he’s read me, and braces herself for him to say something ugly and transphobic, but instead Kirk shakes it off, stammers an apology and offers the ta’al in greeting. But Spock doesn’t forget. She decides right then that he cannot be trusted, keeps him at arm’s length for the first few months of the mission, and keeps their relationship purely professional.

But later, as they gradually become friends, Spock begins to think that maybe she misjudged the captain. Maintaining such a level of distrust over nothing more than an expression of surprise seems illogical, she reasons. After all, he has in so many other ways proven himself to be trustworthy and genuine. She begins to doubt herself.

But, as is often the case when one has been burned, or hurt too many times, she maintains a clinical level of professionalism for her own safety. After all, as the months pass, she is forced to admit to herself that she finds the captain increasingly compelling, and attractive. She cannot afford to trust.

Then one day a low-level ensign makes some comment about Spock within earshot of Jim, and he stops short. “What was that, Ensign?”

Motorcycles and Mambo

or “Date Night at the Dance Hall” a Stricklake story

(Probably the first part of a couple parts. We’ll see if it catches y’all’s interest.)

@humanityinahandbag ;)

He is loose-limbed swagger and tight-waisted sway, a swing of legs and tilt of mouth that shout “Fashion without trying!” And there’s grace, by God, so much of it; his feet turn out like he dances for his money–“and he could,” his shoulders set back, and his neck standing long cry with pride. He wears an old leather jacket and jeans that ought to be too young, yet embrace his seniority and make it twist its outlines every right way.

Walter strolls up the drive from the bike parked on the street while Barbara hides behind the coat tree.

“Woah… I–I can’t–I don’t think I can do this?”

Jim, entrenched behind the kitchen counter, armed with a bread knife and the excuse of his own dinner to make, does his best to be encouraging while resisting the urge to flee out the back door.

“You’ll be fine, mom. It’s just Mr. Strickler,” he says, shocked at the words as he hears himself say them.

Not helpful at all, replies something inside her that sounds as young and afraid as she feels. She peeks through the window again. He’s paused on the sidewalk digging in his pockets for something. Barbara bolts to the kitchen to the long mirror hung sideways on the wall. Her hair is stiff as the hairspray could get it, yet stubborn pieces stray from their lines and curl petulantly around her ears and forehead. She squints at her foundation in the low, late-afternoon light and cannot tell if the patch on her chin is just slightly lighter or darker than the sticky substance around it.

“Oh, I look terrible!” she groans, throwing her hands up to (but not touching!) her face. “I can’t do this. We’re just going to have to call it off. We can go out another night! We could do that, right?”

Jim has put down the bread knife and holds one fresh slice of Italian in each hand, putting them together and pulling them apart again as he blinks at his mother wondering how in the world he should be expected to know such a thing.

“You look great, mom! Everything will be great, just–you know, just breathe.”

He takes one long breath in and exhales it through his nose, smiling, amazed at his own presence of mind. Breathing always works, right? He chuckles when his mother copies him and answers with her own smile. They smile together. Jim puts the slices down on his plate. Barbara pulls her hands down and wrings them in front of the belt loops of her faded dress jeans.

“Thanks, sweetheart. I just have to–keep calm and–”

The knock at the door sounds in the empty front rooms.

Jiminey!” She jumps and throws her hands up against her gluey ‘do.

Barbara grimaces, flapping her hands at her hair as she realizes what she’s done. “Oh, no. Oh, no!”

“A date!” crowed Nomura.

Dinner,” corrected Walt.

“An evening out with dinner,” said Blinky, and lifting one stony brow, “romantically.”

Walter glared. They grinned together as though they had accomplished something.

“I’ve no idea why you seem so pleased with yourselves. This evening was neither of your doing, and will merely serve to maintain our cover with Jim.”

Infuriatingly, their grins widened. Nomura didn’t bother to hide her snicker.

“Simply necessary,” she said.

“A measured sacrifice,” added Blinky, nodding.

They looked at one another and guffawed.

“You are insufferable,” huffed Walt as he turned on his heel and stamped from the library.

“Have fun on your date!” called Nomura, and he rolled his eyes and permitted himself a small growl, trying to ignore how difficult it had suddenly become to swallow.

By Deya’s grace, Walt still remembers how to operate a motorbike. It isn’t his, additional Praise Be, else there would be nothing to keep him from driving it into a tree in his distraction. (The collateral to borrow it from another Janus changeling in town had been steep, on account of his propensity for destroying any but the most fortified motor vehicles.)

The white, slat house was lighted but quiet as he drove up and cut the engine. When a sudden surge of paranoia got him rummaging in his pockets to be sure, for the 13th time, that he had remembered his wallet, he heard a commotion and the cry of a familiar, feminine voice.

He’d fairly run to the front door.

Now, the house is quiet again. He checks his watch; he is only a little past his time, and he knocks.

There comes another cry from inside, then the advance of heels rises against the door. It opens suddenly, making Walt jump back a step.

And freeze.

She’s a silk-gloved punch in a polka dot sweater, a lipstick kiss in red rouge and spicy perfume. Her hair’s in a faux-fifties updo, artfully uncurling around her face. Willow-slim in a pair of jeans that ought to be illegal, she hangs around the door like the curving work of a calligraphy pen. But her eyes remind him about that punch, and add a bite to the tune of “Mack the Knife;” they draw him and drown him, too big and blue to be real.

They stare at each other.

“Hi,” says Barbara.

“Hello,” says Walt.

“You look…”

She slides up and down him and smiles.

He feels like he’s been kicked in the chest.

Oh, well.. You, definitely… Er, that is, you, too…”

She giggles. Honest-to-girlishness, and now his cheeks feel inexplicably warm.

“I was… I was a little worried about…” she begins to say, frowning.

His hands go cold.

“Yes?”

“I, um… I don’t remember?”

Her smile turns back on and brings his with it.

“Well, then…” a lightness picks up his feet and makes them step forward. He clicks his heels and bows to her without thinking about it. “Shall we go?” he asks, offering his hand.

She seems to fall into it like she’s letting go of something else.

“Let’s.”

“Have her home before midnight!” Jim’s voice carries from the kitchen. Walt salutes and pulls the door shut as Barbara slides comfortably under his arm.

“A date,” whispers a pink spy to a blue one as they huddle in the bushes. She nudges his arm. “Get pictures! For evidence!”

The blue spy chuckles, and clicks an old-fashioned camera. “They’re going to have so much fun!”

When Y/N was young, she developed a passion for saving people and looking deep into mysteries. Observing people was a way of her to pass the time, reading into their lives. Who are they? What are they wearing? How do they feel right now? How can I get them to reveal their weakness? What goes on in their life? What problems do they face? Y/N was seven when she noticed a man snatching a wallet from a woman’s bag and afterwards the police were involved speaking to a little girl with pigtails and a pink dress, eating her summer treat with ice cream all over her face.

She was twelve when the kids stared at her and when she was aware, she couldn’t help but stare back. Jim Gordon, her father has never known anyone so different than his own daughter. And he liked it. He loves his daughter unconditionally— possibly if she’s following his footsteps as a detective or not, or whether she is insane and murderous or not.

Now she’s eighteen and she’s following her father’s footsteps of becoming a GCPD detective. Jotting notes and observing Commissioner Essen, watching Dr. Leslie Thompkins do her job with Edward and learning how to walk in heels and a fancy outfit was one of the priorities. Was she liking it so far? Hell no. The cute outfit and heels? Hell yes.

“Y'know walking around in heels almost all day might kill you,” commented Harvey.

“But Essen is still here,” she replies.

He widens his eyes. “Well I guess Gordon’s lucky.”

Y/N squints and he lets out a sigh. “That sounded better in my head.”

“The problem is that I can’t date yet. Wouldn’t it be surprising that my next suspect would be a maniac?"

Suddenly she caught herself interacting with a boy that lost his mother. A tall, ginger boy that worked at a carnival and was very pale. His name was Jerome Valeska, an eighteen year old with skin pale as a ghost. His clothes, hair, skin tone and face could possibly make him a human version of Chucky from Child’s Play. But to Y/N, he was terrifying to look at.

Jerome Valeska was the boy Y/N had to help her father interrogate that afternoon with Leslie.

2) Domestic established relationship semi-married AU where Jim and Spock constantly have “old” movie marathons and argue which of the series is best - Jim continuously screams that Shrek 2 was better while Spock calmly and repetitively lists the merits of the first movie. There is chaos, everyone and their dead grandmother wakes up in the middle of the night, the Klingon almost surrenders to make them shut the fUCK U P, and next morning everyone on The Enterprise is forced to take a fucking stupidass verbal survey conducted by Jim on which MOTHERFUCKING Shrek movie is better. Spock tries to remain uncaring but is secretly behind every corridor listening and tallying the results.
Bones drafts a transfer request no less than 4 times Jesus Christ unbelievable

3) Imagine everyone on the Enterprise knowing about Jim’s crush on Spock like 3847507 years before even he did and they constantly tease him but he doesn’t get it like ?? ?? ?//? but eventually he starts understanding what’s going on and it’s like a giant !!! !! ??1!!! 1 ! moment for him. And also Spock eating a dry cat biscuit and when Jim tells him to spit it out he refuses because “I will not allow my feline to eat a single thing which cannot be consumed by myself. That is irresponsible and–”

- somehow they rescue a smol bby vulcan on another planet?? ? and bring him aboard the Enterprise and no one knows how what to do with smol bby Vulcan and so they automatically turn to Spock and he’s as clueless as they are but they figure it out
By the time they reach somewhere where he’s supposed to be dropped off and cared for by responsible adults they’re so attached. Everyone cries and Jim cries the loudest, even louder than smol bby vulcan. Spock promises to visit, bless

Meeting Once A Week:

“Jim cannot come back from a mission unharmed. He’s either cut up, bruised, shot, or stabbed when he comes back.” Bones says and rolls his eyes. He grabs a bottle of bourbon and two glasses from Uhura and himself. Uhura scoffs and shakes her head.

“I know he does. Honestly, I believe he does that just to impress the girls. To show him that he’s tough and can live through anything.” She says and takes a glass from Bones. Bones walks around the counter and pours them both a drink.

“He’s an idiot. All of us have established that. So what have you dealt with this week?” He asks her as he takes a long sip. Uhura sighs.

“I had to deal with Jim and Spock. Jim threw a chess piece at at Spock after he lost. Now Spock has a huge knot on his forehead. I had to calm Jim down and comfort Spock. They are both giant babies.” She says. Bones scoffs.

“I already knew that about the pointy-eared bastard.” He says and chuckles. Uhura smiles.

“What about you?” She asks and takes a drink.

“I had to deal with Sulu. Apparently, he drank something that made him turn into a lunatic. He kept trying to get people to fence with him. It was hard to get him to sit still for ten seconds.” He says and shakes his head. Uhura nods.

“Sulu is hard to handle. Especially when he’s in fencing mode.” She says and finishes her drink. Bones nods and pours her another drink. Before he can say anything else, there is a large crash that rang out outside the door. The doors slide open slowly to reveal Jim, beaten and bruised.

“What the hell, Jim?!” Bones yells at him.

Jim look over at them, but gets up quickly and runs away. Uhura and Bones watch as small aliens chase Jim down the corridor. Red shirts follow close behind, trying to catch the creatures. Bones groans.

“Do you want to deal with this or me?” He asks and looks at her tiredly.

“I’ll take this one.” She says and stands up. She walks out the door and follows Jim down the halls. Bones sighs and looks out the windows at the stars. He finishes his drink and shakes his head again.

“Why did I agree to come on this damn mission?”

So Wise We Grow  by Deastar

“Commander Spock, we have located your son,” the Vulcan lady on the screen says, which would be great, except Jim can tell by the look on Spock’s face that he’s never heard of this kid before in his life. “If it is expedient, the child will be sent to join you on the Enterprise within the week.“  this one is a classic, I need to make sure everyone has read it tbh

A Chance to Walk in Dreams by mquester

Basically, Spock Prime spends time observing the child of the AOS’ Kirk and Spock.

Written for the following prompt:Nu! K/S is in the background, Spock Prime has the Enterprise take him on one of his diplomatic missions so he can bond with the 4 year old nu!K/S daughter on the way. Cue bonding and some secret ‘you could have been mine and my Jim’s’ angst and him completely adoring the K/S offspring, who is already breaking her own little heart trying to be more Vulcan and cannot do it, in part because she is unable to deny the “I must explore every inch of the ship and see how everything works and then lets’ climb on everything and – OH MY GOD, I HAVE TO HANG OFF THIS!” urges that she got from Jim. In other words, Spock Prime babies the daughter he never had.

I’m assuming you want fics with spock and jim as parents :0 If you actually wanted fics where they are kids just ask me again :-)

anyway, there’s also a bunch of fics in the kid fic and kid au tag!

Imagine if, one day, Uhura’s at her station on the bridge when she sees a comm from Joanna McCoy coming through, and it’s marked urgent. Worried, she answers and asks Leonard’s daughter what the emergency is.

“What’s the emergency?!” the eight year old repeats as if what the emergency is should already be obvious. “The emergency is daddy told me he’s dating somebody–and that somebody isn’t Uncle Jim!!”

“Oh. Joanna, honey,” Uhura begins, but the little McCoy cuts her off.

“I was willing to sit and wait for Captain Clueless and CMOblivious to figure things out for themselves, but now action MUST be taken.”

Uhura tries to explain to Joanna that the crew cannot help her conspire to set up her father and Jim, but in under 5 minutes flat, the entire senior crew (minus the two men in question, of course) have agreed to help Jo carry out ‘Operation McKirk’.
