and other fancy stuff

I’m really suprised that people actually enjoy the small Kitsune!AU ah//// <3

Made some extra outfits for the boys! Saitama prefers to wear just baggy and loose clothes even after he moves into genos his Temple, while genos on the other hand,,, prefers gold/fancy stuff :’D

Just adding a bit of trivia/explanation for this picture!

Okay so in the tower there is a room below the bulb called the Window or Service Room, which is where a majority of the Keeper’s time was spent at night since the Lantern Room really only has enough room for the bulb and the small path to walk around it. In that room, there would be a desk for reading to help the Keeper stay awake at night, and a window for which they can see out to sea for ships. That room was very dark, and so the metal floor of the lantern room above had patterned crystals in the floor to allow light to shine through. During the day this would mean natural light, and at night it would mean the bulb. So the crystals in the floor also allowed the Keeper to maintain vigilance of the light while not being on that floor.

Ford is only apparent when the light is on, and thus when the light from the bulb shines through the crystals (in this case, patterned like the portal symbols) to the floor below. Since the floor is circular it made sense for it to be the Portal replacement for this AU.

Happy Easter everyone! And also happy Achillobator day! Achillobator is (in my opinion) one of the more underrated raptors, a giant dromaeosaurid from Mongolia that could have looked a person in the eye. And then eaten them.

I’ve drawn an Achillobator in the middle of a tense battle with a Talarurus, a large ankylosaur. The Achillobator is making excellent use of RPR (Raptor Prey Restraint) by digging its claws in and flapping its wings madly to keep its balance. Not that it’ll do much good in this case, as the pair of them are about to topple off a small rocky ledge.

This piece has two titles. The first, Tipping Point, is all fancy and artistic and stuff. The other title is Giant Sharp Bird vs. Tankbird, which is … less so.

Have extra pocket change sloshin around and want me to write something for you? This is our time to shine. As outlined in this post Alex @amazingnessin is goin through some rough times, and since I currently have no wealth to redistribute I am hoping to convince you to do so through the ~power of storytelling~ (aka commissions).

Interested? Here’s how it works: (prices in USD)

  • $5 for 3k+
  • $10 for 5k+
  • +$1 for nsfw
  • +$2 for anything super complicated
  • for over 5k hit me with an ask or a DM

You send me a prompt/specifics and a minimum word count, I tell you whether I’m down to write it for ya, and if we’re good you donate the amount to Alex’s paypal! The + is basically there because I have no self-control and your story may end up being way longer (but you get any excess for free!), so that’s the minimum you’d receive. If you feel like tipping more for excess writing that’s cool, but not necessary since it’s not rlly fair to you to pay more $$ if I go overboard.

I write:

  • all Star Wars ships and eras!
  • I’m v familiar with the EU too so if that strikes your fancy too hit me up
  • Also I may do other fandoms and stuff, so just ask I guess?
  • I def write nsfw but you’ll have to give me a pretty specific idea of what you want so I can get it ~just right~ ;)
  • I will totally consider writing original fic and/or OCs
  • check out my ao3 for samples <3

I don’t write:

  • noncon unless you really twist my arm and even then (dubcon is cool tho)
  • heavy gore because I’m shit at it, just ask aj if you don’t believe me
  • furry nsfw
  • tactics (again, I’m shit at it lmao)

(Also if you just wanna like, tip me (Alex) to write more of any WIPs that I’m supposedly working on, definitely talk to me abt the idea, but I mean I don’t expect you to do that so don’t think I’m holding up updates for $$ or anything <3)

META: Charls' Trade Card

//Mod Mem: You may have noticed this graphic on Charls’ intro post - it may look fairly straightforward but it’s actually really nerdy, and I’m going to unpack it a bit so you all can enjoy how nerdy it is too :)

This is an example of a TRADE CARD - basically a historical business card. They were used by tradespeople as advertising, and while they can vary widely in style they usually have a few consistent elements: the tradesperson’s name, their shop’s location, and often a list of the things they sell. I based Charls’ on these two historical examples (from the collections of the British Museum):

A Mercer is (you guessed it) a type of textile merchant, usually dealing in fancy stuff like silks. Other types include linen drapers, who deal in linen, and cloth merchants or clothiers, who sell wool (wool is so common in Europe historically that generic words like ‘cloth’ and ‘stuff’ refer to wool). Most of the fabrics Charls talks about selling are silks, so I gave him the fancier title.  I also decided that Laurent has given Charls an official commission, hence ‘By Royal Appointment’.

The shops’ locations are listed by sign and by street.  I left street off of Charls’ since we don’t know anything about the street layout of Marlas, though I did think it fitting for him to have his shop in the new central capital city.  Trade signs are literal signs that hang outside shops, and they can be ANYTHING - from the Queen’s Head and Turk’s Head above to stuff like the Boot and Breeches or the Half Moon and Seven Stars, really anything you can think of.  I picked the King’s Banner for Charls mostly because at this point he is basically Laurent’s #1 most loyal citizen. This is one of my favourite real trade signs that still exists:

For the list of goods, I went through TAOC and all of Charls’ scenes in Prince’s Gambit and Kings Rising and found all of the names of textiles Charls was selling, and substituted them into the lists on the real trade cards.  What worked out well for me was that CS described a lot of the textiles by the places where they come from in Captive Prince world, which as you can see matches up pretty well with the real trade cards!

So there you have it, a little bit of unsolicited historical context for Charls’ world.  I hope you’ve enjoyed it!  Keep on sending me asks!  Thanks!

A more flattering photo of my spicy cheesy pork rind shrimp! I think the only thing keeping this recipe from being perfected is that I keep eyeballing my measurements instead of making things exact, which makes sharing it a little difficult. But for those curious, here’s how to make them sans measurements.

  • Thaw chosen amount of pre-cooked cocktail shrimp (not raw)
  • In a plastic bag, crush a few large handfuls of rinds into fine crumbs (I use Chifles original smokehouse chicharonnes, recommend this)
  • Mix the crumbs together with about ½ cup fine grated parmesan (I just use the Kraft stuff)
  • Add into the breading oregano, basil, cayenne pepper, chili powder, and garlic powder. This is what I tend to eyeball the most, a few shakes of each.
  • Put olive oil in a separate bowl and dip the shrimp in the olive oil, then coat the shrimp in the breading. Lay them out flat on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Top all the shrimp with grated cheese (sharp cheddar is what I use)
  • Bake at 350f for 15 minutes
  • Give yourself a stomach ache from eating too many shrimp

They’ve been a hit in my home, I hope other people try them! The breading can also be used for chicken. Maybe I’ll get fancy and try it with calamari.

Like the other stuff I’ve been posting, this is low carb, gluten free, sugar free, etc.

Fanart Sticker Sale?

As you may know, I used to have all my doodles of the M*A*S*H gang up in my redbubble shop for you to buy but I’ve since taken them down so I could focus on my original art.

But I’m thinking of doing a m*a*s*h sticker sale sometime in the near future where I put all my old fanart, as well as some of my new stuff, back up in my redbubble shop for a day or two so you guys can buy stickers (and other stuff if you want) of it if you so fancy.

Is this something you would be interested in? And if so, when would be the best time for me to launch it?

My computer broke AGAIN. This time by some random power outage that only affected my comp and no one else’s. Had to resort to iPad drawing. Also, my hands hurt which explains the lack of drawings from me lately.

I drew this on an app called Sketches? There’s no color picker or way to change your brush size. If you want to do any other fancy stuff with the program like layers, you need to pay. I’ll pass on that one. Only use this program if you can’t afford an actual iPad, an apple stylus and ProCreate; three things I don’t really have. I have an iPad mini for the record.

I find remake Alm rather cute. Might draw Celica later on but I’m not sure when.

(UPDATE: I found a ripped Super Mario 3D Land character which was 3071 tris, so the rumored 2000 triangle limit is without a doubt false! I’m still glad it prompted me to research topology and polycount optimization, but now I’m at a complete loss as to what resolution to aim for! Please send help!)

It’s study-time!

Since I’m working towards ancient tech restraint limits, I thought I might as well attempt to make game graphics which would fit on the 3DS (now that Unity has 3DS support!).

However, people online seem to claim that the 3DS has a “hard limit” on 2000 triangles rendered at the same time, which is insanely little. For comparison, the PS1 developers usually aimed at 3000 triangle limits, although the machine could probably do a bit more. Some rumors say that the 2000 triangle limit is an artificial restraint, and it’s probable that it’s enforced to make sure that all games in the 3DS library runs at decent framerates, even with post-processing and fancy materials applied (implying that Nintendo doesn’t trust 3rd party devs to optimize their games properly). My graphics won’t be using post-processing at all, and shader materials will be unnecessary because I’m using vertex colours, so I’d love to swap that computing power for more triangles. Now, I’ve thought long and hard about how to solve this problem (and still retain a decent amount of detail and world-size).

First off, I looked at how the old classics did it.

1. How old are you? I’m a fucking fetus (18)
2. Current job? Basically everything at my restaurant but server, manager, or cook.
3. Dream job? Novelist and photographer! As well as any other creative stuff I might occasionally fancy.
4. What are you talented at? Bullshitting. No seriously! I’m surprisingly good at making myself seem more sure/important/better than I am. Idk. I’m tired so I won’t go into detail.
5. What is a big goal you are working towards / have already achieved? Publishing!
6. What’s your aesthetic? Coca-Cola, jade rings, mechanical pencils with really long tips, black nail polish, long, curled eyelashes, ace bandages, conceled blades, big jackets like parkas or leather jackets, I could go on. I’ve thought quite a bit about this stuff haha. But mostly Coca-Cola. That’s always been what I have been associated with.
7. Do you collect anything? Weeb shit.
8. What is a topic you always bring up in conversation? Anything I think will make me appeal more to whoever I am speaking to.
9. What’s a pet peeve of yours? Being unprofessional in certain situations. Honestly I hate it when managers are like openly salty and petty and shit like some stupid high school student. Grow up.
10. Good advice to give? “One step at a time.”

Idk the name for it but you know that trope where the whole team or whatever are dressed up in fancy formal wear when Something Bad Happens and the episode (or equivalent) is spent with them all doing stuff in their fancy clothes!! Or like slowly getting more dishevelled but still kinda fancy!!! I LOVE THAT TROPE

anonymous asked:

Could you explain the Christmas post you reblogged a bit more? I think I'm being a bit stupid but I don't get it...

Oh god I’m terrible at explaining things nonnie, but sure! I’ll try my best to enlighten you as best as I can. :)

Let’s start with the dates the characters were given by the author; Petra’s Birthday is on the 6th, while Levi’s is on the 25th of December. Petra’s birth date is also the same date of the festivity known as St. Nicholas, which is an early form of the original day of gifts for the children and celebrated in some countries with small treats, like chocolate or other, non-fancy stuff. That’s how we do it in Germany, at least.

Levi’s birth date is on the first Christmas day, however, and since St. Nicholas was soon changed into the Santa Claus we all know now, who’s the main symbol of Christmas to most, Petra could be considered to be the main focus of Levi because : Santa Claus ( Petra )  being the prime symbol of Christmas ( Levi ) = Completeness and importancy. I mean, Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the traditional Santa Claus, right? I know this is a matter of beliefs and it’s kinda really, reeeally far-fetched, but I like to think that Isayama’s been adding these odds and ends very deliberately somewhere inbetween the character development. I, for one, enjoy the thought of things running deeper than we all believed it to be.

Like I said, I totally suck at explaining things lmao. I’m sorry if this is still incoherent or hard to understand. When things seem the most plain to me, it’s even harder to descrbe it for someone else. I hope you /sorta/ got what I’m trying to express here anyway. If not, maybe @heartberry would like to shed some light onto this? I’m sure they’re able to do a way better job than me. x’3
