and now its going so fast

3

my sims grow up so fast, its like just yesterday hayes was a newborn himself!! if i played normal lifespan without turning aging off i’d be on generation 9 by now. i have the lifespan on long and turned aging off at random times yet he only had 2 days to go before turning into a young adult. lmao! i need to get one of those mods that extends lifespan because i don’t want to have to turn aging off at all, it’ll allow me to continue playing naturally.

Okay long story short I binged on fucking KFC and then went to purge it but I promised myself that I wouldn’t so I stopped after some half-assed gagging, and now I feel so bloated and disgusting and I’m going to fast for 100 hours because I think the longest I’ve ever done is just under that. But my gf did the same with nandos so now we are both feeling gross and full together so I guess theres that.

Also tomorrow is Eid and this will be my first year not celebrating it with my family because they all left to go to Sydney to visit my relatives to celebrate it without even inviting me because Im a worthless piece of shit to them :) So I find it ironic that on the day celebrated by feasts I will be starting my fast. I’m trying to be positive and hopeful that this all gets better but its not easy….

Mchanzo week Day 5 - Traditional/Unorthodox

<- Day 4 | Day 6 coming soon

No one can resist a bomb ass chicken nugget from McDonalds

I took this prompt verrrrrry loosely, but I’d think that Hanzo was never allowed to go near fast food, so his move to America was full of complaints to Mccree’s food choice until he discovered the wonders of msg’s

Now you can catch Hanzo tearing into a crunch wrap at 2am

The Signs as Liminal Places
  • Aries: A rock concert bathroom, the walls are shaking from the bass.
  • Taurus: The White Castle drive-thru at night. The speaker is buzzing and no one is at the window. Your car lights aren't on anymore.
  • Gemini: Under a bridge while it's raining. The cars are rumbling overhead almost as loud as the thunder. It's not cold.
  • Cancer: The bedding section of a department store. Music doesn't make it this far, the only sound you hear is your hand running across a white duvet.
  • Leo: Your living room at four a.m. The sun is trying to rise but the mist outside is too thick. Your television is on but the sound was turned off hours ago.
  • Virgo: The first gas station on your personal road trip, a bell makes an unfamiliar ding as you walk in. There's nothing here that you need.
  • Libra: After the last movie of the night. The lights are shutting off in odd places of the theatre and you're still holding your 3-D glasses.
  • Scorpio: The door and window section at a hardware store. Old school music plays from far overhead making it muted but audible. The section checkout desk is empty.
  • Sagittarius: A small town laundry mat that should've been shut down years ago. You can hear pool balls rolling on a table as the owner plays alone.
  • Capricorn: A straight stretch on a road with no streetlights. You don't know how fast you're going and it doesn't matter-there hasn't been a soul in twenty miles.
  • Aquarius: The small airport where you catch your connecting flight. Every now and then you hear the wheels of a suitcase skate across the laminate. It's bright in the terminal but you can feel the darkness of night seeping through the glass.
  • Pisces: The brightly colored fun-center of Wal-mart. Every so many minutes a crane game begins playing on it's own.

Dear High School Lauren,

I have so many things I want to tell you, but I’m going to start with the most urgent. Because of all the ways I’ve seen athletic stories unfold over the years, this is the No. 1 destroyer of dreams.

You’re a young woman, but the sound of the word “woman” makes you cringe. Well-meaning coaches and parents and aunties and grannies and inappropriate uncles comment on the changing bodies of girls–not yours yet but those around you. It’s coming. You know it’s coming.

You notice what happens sometimes to female athletes. She hits puberty; her times get slower or plateau. She is confused; she is working harder than ever. Clueless adults who are overly invested in her “performance” will grieve, as if her worth is based solely on PRs. This makes you scared of growing up.

Seeing girls go through this is confusing because there is a story once told to you about running: “You get out what you put in.” You’ve heard there is a direct line between effort and improvement, between wanting it more and winning. This is a “truth” written by men, based on the experience of boys and men. Your male teammates are bathing in testosterone, a dramatic performance enhancer. You will not. You are about to bathe in different hormones, hormones that, more often than not, temporarily interrupt that promised straight line of improvement. What you need are knowledgeable coaches and parents who know how to support you during this time, to let you know it is normal, to celebrate you through development, who can zoom out on the big picture, because it is at this time that many girls give up.

You’ll see girls react to a changing body in three ways: give up, ride it out, or fight against it. With 100 percent confidence, I can tell you the best choice is to ride it out. The best is yet to come.

You will go on to race at a NCAA Division I university and watch several girls do whatever it takes to fight their changing bodies. But before you choose a school, you will go on visits. You will have meals with the teams and notice they do things differently. There is the school that has “salad with dressing on the side,” the school where everyone orders “no gluten and no dairy,” the school where the girls bring their own food from home to the restaurant… Go to the school where people order a variety of things: the burger, the chicken sandwich, the salad. Go to the school where you can order french fries and do it without shame.

Go to the school where the majority of girls look athletic and healthy, with hydrated muscles, and get their periods. Listen to how they talk about themselves–and one another. Listen to what they value.

Do they value effort or performance? What do they worry about openly? Fixations on their appearance? Or do they lift one another up to be good teammates and performers? Do they value themselves and one another by time and place and weight? Or by the whole package of who they are as people?

How do they treat the teammates who are struggling physically or mentally or psychologically? Do they isolate them? Talk behind their backs? Do they have empathy and compassion? Do they call one another up?

Like it or not Lauren, you are a woman. A strong one. Your body is at some point going to become what it is meant to be, based on a long line of strong women who have survived generations in a tough world. For most of the time, and in most cultures, what is happening to your body would be celebrated with ceremony. Women are powerful beyond your imagination. You cannot reach your power by making yourself small. And yet in competitive running, you will find yourself in a world in which you feel pressure to do just that.

Let me speak to the competitive dream chaser in you now.

You can be fast and a developed woman. In fact, you can only reach your ultimate potential if you let your body go through its changes. If you get to the dips and valleys and fight your body, starve your body, attempt to outsmart it, you will suffer. You will lose your period. You will get faster at first. And then you will get injured. And injured. And injured.
Depending on the methods you used to fight your body, you may end up destroying your relationship with food and sport for years to come. You won’t go this far, but you’ll see so many of your friends and teammates do this. In your age group, the mortality rate from anorexia is 12 times higher than any other cause of death. You will see some come close.

You will see this so much, fed by reckless coaches, fed by unhealthy team culture, fed by the desire for short-term success, that it will break your heart. It will break your heart so much that it will be difficult for you to watch many of the top high school and college races after you graduate. So many young athletes will reach out to you for help. You will learn how destructive and reckless so many coaches are, and you will want to find a way to change things.

I need you to know, I PROMISE you, that the ultimate star you are chasing is further ahead than any shiny thing you see now. The way you get there is to protect your health and protect your love of the sport above all, even as you reach for the shiny goals right in front of you. You simply do not know and cannot predict your personal path, but you’ll get there. It will look different and brighter and richer and more multi-faceted the closer you get.

I need you to know, you have always been more than a runner, more than your times, more than your state championships, more than your school records. But you will get confused. You will forget. Luckily you will have teammates and family and friends who remind you. You will go on to do almost every single thing you could have dreamed of, not in the way you imagined, not on the timeline you imagined.

And when you retire from being a pro runner after 12 years, you will be surprised at what ends up being most valuable to you. Your medals will be in a box somewhere, and you’ll never look at them. Your proudest accomplishment will be a race in which you finished last because in that race you were tested more than ever and you were brave.

Finishing seventh in the entire world in the 5K and having a bronze medal in cross country brings you a smile, the same smile as winning league with your team as a freshman in high school, the same smile as breaking 5:00 in the mile for the first time. The real life-changers, the memories that make the peach fuzz on your cheeks and the hairs on your forearms stand up, those will be braiding your teammates hair in the 15-passenger van on the way to a race; a random tempo run along a sidewalk past a gas station where you felt like you were flying while home on Christmas break; descending a forest trail at camp behind your best friend with your arms outstretched in flight; running at night with someone you are falling in love with; pushing your baby in a running stroller for the first time; passing under a canopy of trees temporarily blocking the rain on a cross country course you can’t remember the name of, the sound of your feet squelching in the mud while chasing your rival.

Protect the opportunity to make memories like those for a lifetime. You’re going to be OK being all of yourself. Make sure your teammates know it too.

Love,

Lauren

For the solangelo headcanon thing, meeting the parents au?

(im so sorry im taking so long on some of these things just keep coming up that i have to do IMMEDIATELY apparently and those take priority but here are your headcanons!!)

  • so Nico’s already met Apollo (when he was like 10) and Lester (you know as if they’re separate people even though they’re not) but secretly, right around the time that Lester first showed up at camp, Nico asked him for his permission to date will
    • apollo thought it was the most adorable thing he’d ever heard and immediately started planning the wedding in his head
  • A few years after they started dating will takes nico home for a week for christmas and nico and never before experienced the whole “you don’t leave this table until there’s no more food on your plate” thing.
    • like nico usually ate all the food that he put on his plate but he also knew what he could handle?? naomi did not and just kept scooping food onto his plate all throughout dinner and he didn’t want to be rude???
    • will skipped out on desert that first night to help nico eat everything
  • Besides that whole food deal, naomi loves nico so much like she told him to come back anytime he wanted and she even got him and will almost-matching christmas sweaters
  • and like will can’t really meet maria for obvious reasons but he did meet Hades that one time and boy does he never wanna do that again, for a few reasons
    • so basically will gets injured somehow and its pretty severe like it’s suspected that he might die from this but he has this dream that he’s in the underworld right in front of Hades’s throne and hades is basically like “Don’t let this happen again” and will wakes up in the infirmary pretty much completely uninjured
    • nico’s there ofc and will’s just kind of like “hey i met your dad like just now. he says im not allowed to die. possibly ever? not really sure”

im sorry if these seem kind of basic i wrote them after my humanities exam today but i hope you like them!!!

drop an au in my ask and get a list of headcanons!

You duck below another swipe of the monster’s hand, listening to its claws screech into the lockers behind you instead of you. You’re the last behind a crowd of other students, as you made sure everyone was out before leaving yourself. And, to your own worry and dismay, you still can’t find Peter. The one day he actually needs to be at school, of course, he’s nowhere to be found.

Looking behind you as you run, you see the scaly creature has just freed its hand from the locker, pulling four off of the wall with it. It fixes its yellow eyes on you, and you watch as they narrow into slits dangerously. You gasp and turn to face forward once again, panting as you speed up your run. After what seems like forever, you reach the front doors. But as there are so many students, the exit is clogged with students screaming as they wait to fit through and to safety. A boy pushes you to the floor in his panic to get out, and just after he does someone else steps on your hand painfully.

You don’t even have time to look up before you’re picked up off of the floor by something much bigger than you. The monster’s claws clutch around your waist painfully, and you push down on his scaly fingers in an attempt to get free, but to no avail. The thing’s livid, yellow eyes are still fixed on you and it squeezes ever tighter, its head tilting as it looks at you. You gasp for air, nearly choking for breath as it seems to squeeze the life out of you.

“Not so fast, ugly!” a voice yells from behind you. A web shoots onto the lizard’s torso and pulls it towards its source. The thing lets you go as it slides across the floor, and you simply lay there, gasping for air and coughing. After catching your breath, you sit up carefully to see Peter perched on the wall, looking at a now webbed up lizard, who is thrashing and snarling against Spider-Man’s newly enhanced and strengthened webs.

Peter hops down from the wall, eyes narrowing as he examines the lizard. “Why not pick on a girl your own size, huh?” His shoulders slump. “Can’t seem to find one who likes you?” The lizard snarls once again, and Peter shakes his head. “Don’t worry, animal control will be here soon.” And with that, he runs over to where you still lay on the floor, crouching in front of you. “Are you okay?"

You nod and take his gloved hand. "Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks to you."

He shakes his head. "Next time, try not to be such a hero.” You smile softly at him referring to you making sure everyone got out of the classroom the lizard broke into. “That’s my job."

"Ha-ha.” You fake laugh.

“No, really.” Peter pulls you to your feet and hugs you tightly. “You scared me."

Your eyes widen and you hug him back gently, kissing his cheek through his mask. "I’m sorry, Pete.” You pull away and cup his face in your hands. “But I always know you’ll be there to save the day."

You see his lips quirk into a smile beneath his mask. "I would swing you home, but I should probably stay with this guy to make sure they take him in alright."

You roll your eyes with a smile. "What, now I can’t walk home by myself?"

Peter laughs. "You know what I mean. I’ll stop by later though, okay?"

"Okay.” He salutes to you as a goodbye, and you smile as he retreats back towards where the lizard is webbed up on the wall. Then you turn and walk in the opposite direction.

Bf! Mark

✴ Requested

  • Mark is such a chill person to be with tbh
  • Being an SM Trainee was hard and you totally understood Mark’s nervousness as he entered the room looking intimidated af
  • You smiled at him and he managed a weak smile before standing next to you
  • He was a new trainee and you felt a need to protect him. Also for the fact that he hadn’t been in Korea for most of his life
  • You started talking to him, inviting him to group hangouts. It was after a while but you two became inseparable
  • He had made new friends but always stuck by you. Not because he felt indebted to you but because he genuinely liked you
  • A while before his debut, he started feelings things for you. Like whenever you were around he would get really excited and have butterflies in his stomach
  • You began to notice sudden changes in his behaviour: how he would stutter when talking to you and avoid you at all costs and try to ignore you when you were around
  • One day you decided to confront him about it and his reply was that he was just busy but you knew something was up.He was lying and doing a pretty bad job at hiding it
  • Valentine’s Day was around the corner and you internally sighed knowing that you’ll get no flowers or chocolates this year as well. SM had set strict rules :NO DATING NO DRINKING NO STAYING OUT TOO LATE and blah blah blah
  • If only you had a boyfriend who would make you feel special on this day that everyone seems to love
  • And suddenly you thought about Mark, what would he be like as a boyfriend. Flirty? Shy? Forgetful? Childish? You laughed to yourself. “I wish I had a boyfriend like him”
  • You opened your locker to change into your practice gear when you saw a box of chocolates and a rose sitting on top of your clothes. Your eyes widened. You weren’t expecting anything like that. So you excitedly held the box in your hands and smiled, who would’ve done this? The fact that you had a secret admirer excited you
  • When you opened the practice room door you saw Mark sitting against the mirrored walls, scrolling on his phone. You figured he was here for practice as well but just found himself distracted by his phone. But he was wearing casual jeans and a yellow hoodie. Not the ideal clothes for practice
  • “Are you here or…” You asked, a little awkward.
  • “Oh no sorry I was waiting for….” he stopped as he looked around. Everywhere except you. This kid was so confusing these days
  • “You were waiting for??”
  • “Uh I was waiting for you, because I got hungry and I didn’t want to go alone and I figured since you’re always hungry you’d go with me”
  • He talked too fast, as if he was nervous
  • “I was going to practice now, if you can wait for an hour maybe-”
  • “No its ok, we’ll go sometime else”
  • he bolted out of the room so fast he put lightning to shame
  • later that day, all the trainees decided to have dinner together. And of course Mark was there. Your secret admirer had your mind occupied the whole day. Until Haechan spoke
  • “Ya did you like the chocolates? i picked it out like Mark picked out the blue ones and honestly-” and BAM the secret was out. Mark’s eyes widened at Haechan, him sinking back in his posture holding his mouth and wanting to cry. Mark looked shattered. You stared at Haechan who looked scared af but still amused
  • So it was Mark, he was your secret admirer and it made you go crazy. Mark stood and left the room but you were quick to react and followed after him
  • “You could’ve just told me you know” you called after him. He stopped in his tracks and looked back at you
  • You jogged towards him and smiled bright, although much shorter than him, he looked small
  • “Why are you so scared?” You asked
  • “I’m afraid of rejection,” he said, smiling softly
  • “And how are you so sure that you’ll get rejected?” He looked up at your smiling face, confused and clueless
  • “CATCH ME BEFORE I TELL EVERYONE I LOVE YOU” You said while running away from him
  • “YA! NO COME HERE!” He yelled after you. You both ran along the building and the back gardens. “Y/N I SWEAR TO GOD!” He was laughing now while running after you
  • The sky was growing darker as night time approached. Mark finally asked you out on a date and you smiled the whole way back to the dorms
  • With Mark its just shy smiles and awkward hand holding
  • He’s just always so SHY around you
  • Wants your approval before doing anything
  • You really want him to lighten up around you but he’s always afraid he might do something wrong
  • it takes him a good five months to get used to being in a relationship
  • Your first kiss was so sweet and pure. He made you feel so squishy and warm. He was literally blushing after and then hugged you because he was excited too
  • Makes your hair sometimes and it ends up being a really bad plait but you let your hair stay that way the whole day because he was proud of it
  • Always wants to show you something that interests him
  • and if he perfects a move or a dance or a line in his rap he makes sure you hear it and wants to know your opinion
  • He wants to know everything about you and wants you to know everything about him
  • Him just being around you makes your day better
  • Your dates consist of ice cream parlours, cute selfies and lots of hand holding and kissing
  • He always walks you back to your dorm
  • Texts you with loads of cute emojis
  • freaks out when you dont reply
  • and then scolds you for not replying and gets so angry and you just laugh at him
  • “I’m serious y/n stop laughing at me”
  • so cute *.*
  • Haechan loves teasing you both and has named u as “love birds”
  • Mark gets so worried when you’re sick like he literally runs to your dorm when he hears you’re sick
  • “What happened?” “Are u ok” “oh my god”
  • “Its just a cold”
  • Midnight strolls and him shyly giving you his jacket because Taeyong told him its a gentlemanly thing to do
  • Laughs at your jokes even if they’re not funny
  • So clumsy and smol you want to protect him
  • but he’s always protecting you and you’re like but you’re always on a death wish???
  • Like he once crossed the road without looking and you lost your shit and scolded him the rest of the day
  • Misses you if he hasn’t seen you for two days
  • Late night texts and he ends up falling asleep but keeps alarms so he still replies you
  • he’s always so impressed by you and lowkey looks up to you and is always so inspired when you’re around
  • “wahh y/n you’re so good” “y/n you’re amazing” “i wish i can be like you”
  • movie marathons with him staring at you and looking away when you notice
  • and then you rest ur head on his shoulder his heart beat quickens and he smiles to himself and internally he’s like “YASYAYSYAYSFUCFUC” but on the outside he’s like “its fine, its all cool just breathe”
  • loves sharing his playlist with you and wants to hear your music too
  • you both practice together and if either of you ends up falling or missing a step you both laugh so hard
  • and then he just rests his head on your shoulder as you both scroll through your phones and then he shows u a funny meme and you show him some too and you both just laugh like idiots
  • really forgetful so you serve as a daily reminder for him
  • he works too hard and it concerns you but you always show up with food at his dorm and bring him vitamin water
  • he remembers so many vivid and small details about you and it startles you cuz he pays much attention to you??
  • Mark was the best thing to ever happen to you, he’s not only your boyfriend but your best friend and you were glad haechan spoke up that day
  • and although he was so mad at Haechan, he was so happy that you liked him back
  • *cries* i love mark

No offence, but I feel as if in this chapter, the author got tired of this entire ark in general, as the entire situation was solved ridiculously fast. Now, I don't really understand Japanese, so this may not be accurate. But from what I see, both highly powerful opponents were ridiculously quickly subdued, and somehow Fitzgerald decided to side with the Mafia and the ADA for no reason. We didn't even get to know Fyodor's ability yet, and he's already defeated.

I, too, was disappointed in this chapter, but after collecting my thoughts, I decided that it wasn’t a bad way of ending this arc, if this indeed is the end. Sure it may have looked abrupt, but it could have been worse… Or so I like to tell myself.

(Warning: I try my best to be unbiased and objective but this may read like a lot of whining. Only proceed if you’re fine with that.)

The good:
Akutagawa’s promise to Atsushi; appearance of the rest of ADA and Port Mafia; Fitzgerald saving the day; Ango and his crew appearing; that not-so-subtle nod to Odasaku in the end

The “I don’t have much of a good or a bad opinion on this”:
Shin soukoku new combo move;  Chuuya still in the book

The bad:
Quick resolution to the arc; implied lobotomy(!?); Dazai and his keikaku doori antics again; strange sense of déjà vu since they used practically same buildup as the last arc, but now it’s the remix version

First of all, I’ll just have to throw out my wildest (not really) theory out here: Fyodor is still the “final boss”. Come on, he gets the moniker “The Demon” and gets jailed off like that? No, no. It doesn’t make sense at all, at least to me. So my guess is that Agatha and the Order of the Clock Tower will swoop in to try and mess with the Agency, but when they’re on the verge of defeat, Fyodor steps in and uses this chance to strike ADA for himself. So uh Guild Arc 2.0. Or something along those lines. This could’ve been a test drive. Or he could have other Rats in Russia waiting for orders in case there’s a Phase II. Call me optimistic, but that’s what I would like to believe.

We jailbreak from Azkaban and invade Ministry of Magic now.

There really isn’t much to say about Dazai proving himself a formidable chessmaster again, other than I called it on an earlier ask. I just hope I’m not the only one tired of him being right all the damn time. No one can be that all-seeing…

Lazy tips for Tofu

Tofu gets a bad rap, and really it’s undeserved.

Yes, tofu tastes bad when you cook it badly, but then so does just about anything else. It’s just that we’re much more conditioned to be forgiving of bad chicken, bad cheese, etc. And at least tofu is unlikely to give you food poisoning if it’s under cooked.

Yes tofu takes some prep. But then, so do a lot of other foods. You pay more for convenience foods of many kinds because some of the work is done for you. But as far as a ‘raw ingredient’ goes, tofu is cheaper than many animal products, and when you compare it to the work involved with preparing any ‘raw ingredient’ it’s really not much different.

That being said, here’s a few ways to make dealing with tofu less effort

Pressing

Pressing tofu is kind of an art - convincing the water to come out of the soy sponge without mushing it. This is an art I refuse to master. It’s up there with the art of eating gracefully, and ironing collars.

So I just freeze the tofu I buy. If I’m planning on using it in the next two days, I move it to the fridge. Somehow, some weird magical thing happens that makes recently defrosted tofu stronger, so you can basically squeeze out almost all the water in your hands without mushing it. This doesn’t work for silken tofu though - seriously. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Another option, if you don’t care about the tofu being mushed up, is a clean tea towel, stick the tofu in there, wrap it up, and squeeze it that way.

Or don’t press it at all. This makes it less likely to absorb other flavours, but so long as you cook it enough it still tastes good.

Marinating

To be honest, I almost never bother marinating tofu for any length of time. My idea of a marinade is to throw random stuff in a bowl, then stir in some cubes of tofu. If I’m really patient, I might last a couple of hours. Usually it’s a couple of minutes.

If you want to marinate tofu to make it taste like something specific, like the ham component of a hawaiian pizza, you can make the flavours soak in a lot faster by immersing the cubes/chunks/whatever in the marinate and baking it for about ten minutes. Shallow frying with about 1cm of oil in a pot also works (avoid marinades that have a strong powder component).

Super easy marinades

  • Vinegar, Salt, Soy sauce
  • Brewers yeast (sometimes called nutritional yeast), salt, tumeric, garlic, cumin, lemon juice, oil (if you’re feeling like reaching for the spice rack)
  • Mustard, Soy sauce, Sugar, Sesame seed oil or tahini (optional, because expensive)
  • Veggie stock
  • Basically any stir fry or pasta sauce you have lying around will do

Cooking

The ways to cook tofu are pretty much endless. You can even have it raw if it works with the recipes. My favourite quick ways are;

Deep frying - It’s not really deep frying since you only need about a cm of oil in a pot. You want it to be pretty hot (but not smoking). You don’t even really need to press tofu if you’re cooking it like this, just squeeze it a bit over the sink. It’ll be crispier if you go hotter, softer if you go cooler. I often don’t flavour tofu before frying like this, I just have it with salt and maybe a little vinegar (seriously, it’s good) after. I’ve found it takes less than ten minutes to cook a bowl of nommy tofu bites. Probably not so healthy, but I’m prone to the odd treat now and then. I’ve found this also is a fast way to cook tofu that’s going to go in other things - like curries and stirfries.

Baking - If you don’t mind waiting for noms to cook (I go surf the net while I wait), you can just put whatever flavourings you want on the tofu (immersing it in veggie broth and baking is awesome too - thank you @theveganzombie), and throw it in the oven.

Shallow frying - I’ve found this takes a bit longer than I personally like, but it has its uses. If you’re frying tofu to go with other stuff, put it in first, even ahead of onions, and don’t be afraid to let it sit in the pan without being turned constantly, it’ll cook quicker if you only turn it every so often. If you want the tofu to still be crispy when you eat and you’re using a sauce, cook the tofu separately and add it at the end.

Pre-cooking

If you want nommy soy goodness straight from the fridge for sandwiches, salads, world domination, noodles, whatever, then you can make it up ahead of time, and see how long it lasts.

I pretty much never bother to do this. The last time I made tofu bites to go on a pizza, it took all my willpower to allow even two thirds of them to actually make it to the pizza. Cooked tofu does not last long when it’s within my reach.

But if you have more self control than me it’s a good way to have teh noms on hand.

Storing

Fridge - Tofu has a long shelf life, it usually comes sealed. You can keep it in the fridge for a few days after opening so long as you immerse it in fresh water and keep it sealed. For tofu that’s been cooked, just keep it sealed.

Freezer - Unless I have reason to want the tofu soft and mushy, I tend to just freeze it, and take it out when I need it. If I need to defrost it fast I just stick it in a bowl of hot water, then add more hot water when it starts to cool. This is enough to get it to the point where I can cut it without any trouble.

so here’s the plan with NeverEnding Legacy :

from the feedback I’ve seen, most people seem to be of the advice that the game’s current mechanics are mostly fine; there’s also some comments about the game getting too easy and stable once you get housing.
based on this, I’ve decided to keep improving the game as it is, and perhaps actually make it a bit less like an idle game (stuff like architects tends to get out of hand very fast anyway, and needs to be at the very least redesigned). the game will lose its pretense of being anything like Cookie Clicker and be more like a slow-paced regular strategy game you play in your browser (or at least, something you’d keep an eye on every now and then).

that being said, I also think it’d be nice to have a fun chill civ-themed idle game with hundreds of resources to play with that doesn’t go to shit if you don’t babysit it for 5 minutes, so I’m gonna keep that whole redesign in the back of my mind and perhaps prototype something fun out of it when/if I have some free time, though of course updating the existing game takes precedence. I think it’s always interesting to try fun new gameplay stuff and see what sticks, but I don’t want to alienate the players who enjoy the current gameplay, so this would be a separate game (though reusing a lot of the same content, so hopefully not too taxing on my workflow).

once again tho, I gotta finish this Cookie Clicker update first. see you within the next week or year, who knows

OH MY GOSH - VIVIANNE AND KALLIAS REUNION AND SUBSEQUENT FUCK-FEST !!! tbh it was probably hella emotional and I am a sucker for angst-ridden reunion scenes ! the fact that the mating bond snapped into place during literally makes me weep - please consider doing a fanfiction based on thisssss

Also a response to this anon ask:

‘ If you wrote anything about Vivianne and Kallias I would virtually hug you so hard! I am in so deep with this ship, and I literally only got like, a chapter and a half of content from them! Tysm xxx’

Okay so I haven’t yet done the fuck-fest, but I’m definitely going to do that as a part 2. For now, have the initial reunion. I really love this pairing, not so much as a ship but rather that I love these two people? To me Viv is such a badass babe, and Kallias is such a cute little snowflake dork, all trying to be cold and snarky but secretly a cute little button inside who just loves his wife and people so damn much.

Pulsar’s 10 Favorite Anime Of 2016

It’s time for my Top 10 Favorite Anime Of 2016 List!

A few things to keep in mind:

1. Im not including any sequel series (which means Sound Euphonium 2 and Food Wars: The Second Plate arent on my list, although theyre both great shows and definitely worth checking out).

2. This is strictly my opinion. If you dont see a show you liked on here, Im not bashing it or saying its not any good.

3. Im only including shows I watched all the way through to the end. There are some shows I didnt get a chance to finish like Mob Psycho 100, Orange and Shouwa Genroku that I need to revisit.

With that all said, here we go with the Honorable Mentions!

—-

HONORABLE MENTION #1: PLEASE TELL ME, GALKO-CHAN!

This is a really fun series of comedy shorts revolving around three high school girls: an otaku, a gyaru (think the Japanese equivalent of a valley girl) and a sweet but airheaded rich girl. Most of the humor is sex-related and yet the show never feels mean-spirited. Definitely worth checking out if you want something quick to watch and laugh at.

HONORABLE MENTION #2: MAGICAL GIRL RAISING PROJECT

Dark takes on the “magical girl” genre have become more and more commonplace in the aftermath of Madoka Magica. This show revolves around a mobile app game that allows you to create your own magical girl, and gives 1 in 10,000 players the ability to become a real-life superhero. But soon things take a dark and violent turn.

What separates this show from the pack is the sheer variety of powers and abilities that it features. All the girls (and one guy) have different motivations for wanting to be a superhero, and their powers are diverse and interesting. Dont let the cute art fool you: this is NOT for young kids.

HONORABLE MENTION #3: SHE AND HER CAT - EVERYTHING FLOWS

The only reason I wound up not including this show in my top ten is because its literally 4 five minute episodes. But man does it pack a punch, especially if you love animals.

This is a short series about a young woman and her aging pet cat. The show is entirely from the point of view of the cat, and you see how he views the world and how he views his owner with unconditional love. If youve ever owned a pet, take the time to watch this one.

And now its time for my Top 10 Anime of 2016. Here we go!

#10: MYRIAD COLORS PHANTOM WORLD

KyoAni’s first series of 2016 was this overlooked fun little fantasy gem about a near future in which a virus has caused people to be able to perceive extra-dimensional and paranormal beings around them. The main characters are four students of a special school for students with special abilities who can seal off and fight phantoms, or in some cases help them resolve their unfinished business so they can move on.

This show got a lot of attention early on in 2016 and just as fast seemed to drop off the radar, mostly because people seemed disappointed that it wasnt a darker/more “serious” show. But thats okay. Sometimes I just want to be entertained. And Myriad Colors does that.

#9: KONOSUBA - GOD’S BLESSING ON THIS WONDERFUL WORLD!

Konosuba is the first of two “trapped in a fantasy world” anime series on my Top 10 list. This is a trope that has been done to death, but where this one won me over was in the sheer irreverence it has for its own genre.

The main character, after dying in a rather embarrassing fashion, is magically transported to a fantasy world by a goddess who turns out to be a bit of a screw-up. In order to find work in this new world, he assembles a motley crew including a masochistic knight and a mage who only want to blow things up. Sound ridiculous? It is. And it’s absolutely hilarious.

KONOSUBA returns for a 2nd season starting this month, so you have time to catch up before then!

#8: IZETTA THE LAST WITCH

In an alternate version of World War II, the archduchess of a small country about to invaded by the Germans is kidnapped… but is then rescued by her childhood friend, who turns out to be the last witch on Earth. The witch volunteers her help in defending her friend’s country from the invaders, and soon the tide has turned in a BIG way.

Do you like watching WWII-era dogfights? Imagine one with a witch flying around using a giant rifle as a broom and blowing Nazi planes out of the sky. If that doesn’t sound cool to you, I don’t know what to say. Check this one out if you like badass female leads and awesome action sequences.

#7: KIZNAIVER

Studio TRIGGER (Kill La Kill) returned in 2016 with this sci-fi series about a group of teenagers who are forced to be part of an experiment linking them emotionally. This show connected (see what I did there) with me on multiple levels. Adolescence can be an insanely painful part of life, and many people never move on past the things that are done and said to them during this time. The characters on this show, even if they aren’t always likeable, are always UNDERSTANDABLE. I genuinely felt for all of them and wanted them to end up OK. If you like sci-fi but want something different, give this one a go.

#6: 91 DAYS

This is another great series that seemed to fly under the radar this year. I never heard many of my friends who are into anime talking about this one, and its a shame, because this show is something special.

91 DAYS is set during Prohibition and is about a young man whose entire family is murdered by the Mafia. Seven years later, while in hiding, he receives a letter giving him the names of the men responsible, and he begins to work his way into the family in order to destroy it from the inside out.

This is a fantastic revenge story, with some twists and turns you won’t expect and a darkness to it that stuck with me a long time after it ended.

#5: PLANETARIAN

“I am just a little broken…”

Prepare to have your heart a LOT broken.

PLANETARIAN takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where hostile machines have taken over the Earth. A “junker” is scavenging for supplies in a department store when he is greeted by the android mascot of the store’s rooftop planetarium… who has been in stasis for years and has no idea what has happened to the world. The junker initially wants nothing to do with her but realizing he has nowhere to go decides to hide out in the planetarium for a while, and soon gets roped into fixing the projector so the android can present the show to any guests who may show up.

If you like your sci-fi with a healthy dose of feels, check this one out. Its only 5 episodes long but it stuck with me long after I watched it, and I’ll likely be coming back to rewatch it many times in the future.

#4: YURI!!! ON ICE

Yes, an anime about gay male figure skaters made my top 10 list? Why? Because its an awesome goddamn show, that’s why.

After suffering a complete meltdown at the previous World Finals, Yuri has given up on skating and has decided to come home to Japan. No sooner has he returned than his idol, a Russian figure skater named Victor, shows up at his doorstep… wanting to become his coach.

This show is consistently fun to watch, with great animation, some incredible skating sequences, and arguably the best romantic couple of the year in anime. And tell me the opening song doesn’t get you pumped, and I’ll call you a lying sack of shit. Yuri On Ice is awesome. Watch it. Like, now.

—–

My top 3 is where it gets tricky, because any of these next three shows could have been my #1. I’d rank them all at the top in terms of quality, so I’m going with them in the order of which ones had the most emotional impact on me personally.

#3: KABANERI OF THE IRON FORTRESS

If you liked Attack On Titan, this is better. Yes, I said it. I love Attack On Titan, but this is a better show.

Set in an alternate timeline during the Industrial Revolution in Japan, a virus causes people to transform into walking corpses who soon overrun the entire country. Humans are forced to barricade themselves in walled cities and use armor-plated trains to travel from fortress to fortress. One day, in the middle of his home being overrun by the “kabane,” a young engineer who has been working on a new steam-powered weapon designed to defeat the monsters is bitten by one of them… but instead of transforming all the way, he becomes a kabaneri, a human/kabane hybrid. He joins up with a fellow female kabaneri and the survivors of his fallen city in an attempt to make their way to safety on board one of the armored trains.

This show is essentially a nonstop chase sequence through the first half, and political intrigue comes into play halfway through. If you like nonstop action, gore and terror, this is your ticket to ride.

#2: RE:ZERO
I watched the first episode of this show the day after it aired, got bored, and didn’t come back to it…until about three months later, when I kept hearing people talk about the show and how it was affecting them. While on a road trip I decided to give it another shot, and ended up binge-watching the entire series in one go. It’s that good.

RE:ZERO is about a young man who, after shopping at a convenience store, suddenly finds himself in a fantasy world straight out of the games and shows he loves. While initially thrilled to be there, he finds out rather quickly that he is completely out of his element and ends up dying a rather grisly death… only to find himself back where he started from when he first showed up in the new world. It turns out that he has the ability to come back after dying to a certain “save point” (which changes over time), and while no one around him remembers the previous timeline, he does.

So, all good right? No matter what happens you can come back and fix it? Well, not so fast. Imagine falling in love with someone only for them to not remember who you are or things you’ve talked about. Imagine seeing the people you care about die over and over again because you keep messing up. Imagine making mistakes, thinking you can fix them by dying… and coming back further along in the timeline and NOT being able to undo them.

This show takes all the issues I usually have with the “transported to a fantasy world” genre and not only addresses them but essentially makes them the focus of the show. The main character alternates between being funny and likeable and selfish and arrogant, and while he can be hard to like at times, he’s easy to understand and identify with. The supporting characters are fantastic (including arguably my favorite female character of the year, Rem the demon maid) and the story has many twists and turns, with many more to come as the show has been confirmed for second season.

I’ve never been so glad that I gave an anime a second chance as I am with RE:ZERO. Definitely check this one out.

#1: ERASED

Imagine this: when you’re a child, two of your friends and a third child you don’t know but is in your class are murdered. You were the last person to see the third victim alive, but didn’t do or say anything, and you have felt guilty ever since.

Since then, you have had a curse: every once in a while, you will relive the same three to five minutes over and over again, Groundhog Day style, until you change something. It might mean pushing someone out of the way of a car, it might mean stopping a purse snatcher. But you are stuck until you fix what needs to be fixed.

Now imagine, after coming home to find a loved one murdered, you are blamed for the crime and are about to be arrested when you feel that same “rewind” effect happening… only when you open your eyes, it is 1988, you are 11 years old walking to school (but with your 29 year old mind intact), and the murders from your childhood are about to happen again.

What would you do?

ERASED is the best anime of 2016. No other show excited me, terrified me, made me think, made me cry, or made me remember as much as this show did. Even if you don’t like anime, watch this show. It’s my #1 for a reason.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my list! If you see a favorite of yours from 2016 that’s missing, shoot me a message and I’ll check it out!
