and my shipping goggles

…What is your secret, Lance?

So I was watching through season 1 again when I noticed this snippet and thought to myself: what secret are the mice sharing with Allura right here? Because that looks like Lance’s usual cocky behavior, yes, but his attitude is no secret. There’s got to be more to it.

Naturally with my shipping goggles on I see it as something to do with Keith. Maybe he’s crushing on Keith or just wants to impress him by being cool so he acts like an asshole?

Yes, that seems like Lance.

When I think about Lancelot, or Lance/Lotor relationship in general, it gaves my writer side such giddy feeling

(Please forgive for my English cause Im not a native speaker, so I cant express myself clearly )

Because it has POTENTIALS, so much potentials to explore, even when it has nothing to do with shipping (which I found both appealing and disgusting, they will make a very unhealthy pair).. If Im corrected, Lotor in the original series is an insecure character, wants to prove himself with his father Zarkon, while also a half Altean/half Galran,.. This dude has a lot of juicy tropes for a compelling villian my gosh). If the producer keep the basic trait in the original to this version while potrays him with more sinister, manipulating characteristics , Lotor would be an interesting addition to our blue child Lance, an important piece for Voltron team’s dynamic after Shiro’ s disappearance and Lance’s character developement

Because if they have the same self-esteem, attention issue, Lance and Lotor could bond over those, understand each other’s struggles, even become best pals. Lance, during this time already feeling worthless, now he found someone who see his abilities, sympathize with him, Lance would be escatic. Moreover, Lance is extremely friendly and accepting (he protects Yupper and consider it his friend righ after they met, how precious), I wouldnt be surprised if Lance found in Lotor a trusting friend and extent his protective nature over him

And this is when things go down

The voltron team just lost their beloved leader, so Keith will have to take up his position (which I dont think it’s a smart idea, ss2 havent groomed him well enough) and lead Voltron. I can see the balance of team voltron will be broken, mainly because of Keith’s inexperienced and Lance’s self-issue and jealousy. Im expecting a big fight between this two dorks Dreamwork dont let me down. Lance, with his insecurities and homesickness bottled up for 2 seasons, will finally reach his breaking point, snaps

So Lotor came in, reassured Lance, maybe even offer Lance a position in the Garla army (preferably Lotor’s right hand man lol ) where he could be useful and respected and liked and they sounds SO RIGHT to Lance, right?? Even worse, Lotor could offer him to return to his earth, his home..He could make Lance questions his loyalty to his friends and Voltron, while serving as the direct enemy for Keith and Voltron in general

But if the producer wants to follow the original, that Lotor has an unhealthy obsession to Allura and be a rival in love and war with Keith , they would miss an awesome chance to write a very, very good dark and compeling story, an well-written villians and Lance’s journey to mature

Excuse my shipping goggles

ok but do we realize that a lot of the big dialog between Shiro and Allura centers around a need to be together/not wanting to be separated

Collection and  Extractions: Shiro feels he should be the one to accompany Allura on her mission. At the end in the face of being recaptured he refuses to leave her behind despite what that means for the rest of the team and the universe

Eye of the Storm: “…it doesnt matter Princess, we go in this together and thats how we’re getting out”

AoT: Allura admits to Shiro he was right, they are stronger together

Black out: Shiro and Allura both get major power upgrades . Not necessarily together, but its still imo, symbolic.

CH. 857 Initial Thoughts & Analysis

Soooo we got ourselves a nice chapter today  Lots of talk about what Nami said and vice versa, so I wanted to give my thoughts about it as well. I reread the chapter without shipping goggles and it makes it clearer to me what this all means.

So first thing is Sanji’s attention to Nami, well I found it normal. I think Oda only did that because Nami is the only female in the group atm and is using Sanji’s actions towards that female to show that our boy did not in fact change at all due to the situation with Pudding. We’ve seen a completely different Sanji up until now and I see this as a way of Oda reassuring the readers that Sanji will stay the same and still go gaga over every girl and that he is not drastically changing his character

Second, Nami says she was put through the depths of fear because of Sanji and she’s not wrong. Because since they went after him, she saw Luffy almost die on the ship, almost die against Cracker, almost die against Sanji, almost die against the army, and almost die in the prisoner book (well more specifically his arms). And she herself almost got killed in the forest, had to see Luffy beat up , and almost got tortured to death in the prisoner book while also having to witness Luffy ripping his arms apart. That sounds quite the hell to me.

But another translation says incident, so that must mean when they reunited, which was when Sanji attacked Luffy ruthlessly after his fight with Cracker. If that’s the case then it shows how strongly she was hurt to see Luffy get beat up by a crewmate right in front of her eyes. She was extremely fearful for Luffy’s life. So much so, that she had to go straight to Sanji and slap him for what he had done. And then telling Luffy that he went too far, no matter his reasons. I see this as a big positive for Luffy x Nami because she shows that is still mad to a degree about what happened.

Because of this, she said she “will never forgive him” and it’s not something that is permanent. She will forgive him later on, but it shows how she doesn’t forget what she and Luffy had to go through just to get him back. She was happy to take him back when they first reunited, no sign of hate there, but after he turned them down harshly, Luffy almost died twice, and she almost got tortured to death.

As we know, Nami is a very compassionate and forgiving character, she risked her life to get Robin back and felt strongly saddened when Usopp left the crew, so she is again relieved that Sanji is coming back, but at the same time she still has her feelings about the wrongdoings that he did.
Oda wants to make it clear Nami is forgiving and loving with her crew mates, while at the same time, respects the position of captain and Luffy’s life.

If she forgave Sanji just like that then people would say “she is a bad crew mate she doesn’t uphold the respect the crew deserves”
If she wasn’t open to him at all then she’s “a cold bitch who is selfish” ( even though people still are saying that xD)

so let me get this straight *no pun intended*. Irene Adler is gay but when she said "look at us both" to John, means that she's lesbian but in love with Sherlock? but then again, what about the "I'm just playing the game?"

Maybe Irene really fell for sherlock in a way. I am saying “in a way’ because i don’t believe all attractions can fall between the two categories of either sexual or romantic.Sometimes there are other things. I am not saying this with my shipping goggles on. Two of my family members, who are pretty casuals, have never seen Irene as romantic interest. More of an intellectual interest. Someone who is as sharp as sherlock. I mean Irene blatantly said “brainy is the new sexy”. i totally read that as her attraction towards sherlock being intellectual. Finding someone who is as brainy as you is exciting believe me. It even does not has to be related to sexuality.

Maybe my reading is wrong. Maybe Irene did fall for Sherlock romantically while just trying to play the game. Maybe she didn’t intend to. Human mind and sexuality is sometimes difficult.Pretty flexible things. I am no expert in these things. But still I never saw Irene as romantic interest.

Her “look at us both” of course translates as “ We both like women, but we’ve also both fallen for Sherlock. Confirming John had fallen for Sherlock. But falling can be different. This is the fun with open ends. Pretty much open for any interpretation. Battersea is one of the most important johnlock evidence scenes. But if you accept the Johnlock evidence, I think you have to accept Irene falling for sherlock as well. Falling for the brain. Not the groin.

But the thing is, Sherlock never fell for Irene. She is one of the most interesting people he came across in his life. That I truly believe. But in his whole life sherlock fell for only one person. And that is John Watson.

This was a mess. I hope you get my point.

Hey jen. There's already some discussion on what gem the inevitable Lapidot fusion might be, but I'd like your opinion on her appearance. How giant will our giant woman be? Opal-sized? What eye-arm pattern will she fall into (3 eyes, 2 arms like Garnet, 2 eyes, 4 arms like Opal etc)? From what I see in fusion makeup, multiple eyes indicate differences in perception (ex. Future-oriented Sapph and present-oriented Ruby), while multiple arms indicate differences in action.

Honestly, I’m in two minds about the whole thing.

I very much agree with what you said there about how the look of the fusion is determined (i.e. whether or not they have multiple arms and/or multiple eyes), but I think it’s actually very difficult to call in this case.

I designed a Lapidot fusion around a year ago…

…who, as you can see, has a second set of arms.  This was before Lapis and Peridot properly interacted on-screen, and my logic behind giving her the second pair of arms (but not a second pair of eyes) was the idea that the pair of them have very different personalities and act very different, but that they see things in a similar way.  At the time, they were both unwillingly stuck on earth (a planet that neither of them cared for) and had no way of returning home, neither of them were Crystal Gems and therefore seemed to still be holding onto the Homeworld ideals, etc.

The thing is, I still believe that this idea could hold water.  They’re both still on earth, but they’re not “stranded” any more - they’ve now found a new place that they both see as their home, together.  They both enjoy similar things (Camp Pining Hearts, meep morps, etc) despite their different personalities.  Neither of them are loyal to Homeworld any more, with Peridot actually being a Crystal Gem and Lapis seemingly heading in the same direction now that she’s part of the “Crystal Temps”.  There are also occasions where they seem to be able to “read” each other perfectly without even needing to look at one another (such as Peridot getting the high-five in Gem Harvest).  So, for these reasons, one set of eyes does make sense.

However

Although their personalities are still quite different, they sometimes do physically act in a similar way to each other.  They both have extremely similar abilites (hydrokinesis and ferrokinesis) for a start, and neither of them seems to have a tangible “weapon” outside of this that can be drawn from their Gems - with Lapis having her wings as a secondary ability, and Peridot having her limb enhancers as her secondary “ability” (assuming she gets them back, of course).  Both of them are prone to being somewhat temperamental as well, although this does manifest differently with each of them - with Lapis being very brooding and/or unforgiving, and Peridot having loud obnoxious tantrums.  There have also been occasions where they’ve mirrored each other’s facial expressions and/or body language.  So, for these reasons, it’d make sense for her to have only one set of arms.

I don’t think that their fusion will have both two sets of eyes and two sets of arms.  This is because, if you look at the fusions we’ve seen up to now, the fusions that look nearer to being “perfect” are the ones that are formed of Gems who are very close to each other.

To give a few examples: Garnet is made of a romantic couple and she just has two sets of eyes and no extra limbs.  Stevonnie is made of a blossoming romantic couple (c’mon, let’s not deny it) and they don’t have any extra limbs or extra eyes.  Smoky Quartz is made of two individuals who share an exceptionally strong family bond, and only has one extra arm.

Compare these examples to Malachite - formed by two Gems who hate each other, born out of pure spite and rage… and has three sets of arms, no legs, and speaks with two voices rather than having a voice of her own.

Peridot and Lapis are (romantically or otherwise) extremely close to one another now - seemingly closer to each other than they are to anyone else.  So, I think their fusion could potentially be close to “perfect”.  This idea appears to have been subtly addressed in The New Crystal Gems (which I made a post about here: http://jenhedgehog.tumblr.com/post/157119130778/the-new-crystal-gems-could-be-foreshadowing-an).

Obviously I’d love for their fusion to be like Stevonnie (literally “perfect”) but, if I put my shipping goggles to the side for a moment, realistically she’s gonna probably have either the extra eyes or the extra arms - but I honestly can’t call which one it’ll be, because either would make sense.

As for the size - I’ve always headcanoned her as being slightly shorter than Opal, but a friend sent me a really good ask about this a little while ago, suggesting that a fusion’s size could be determined by the power of the two Gems who make up the fusion: http://jenhedgehog.tumblr.com/post/157576936243/maybe-someday-ill-have-a-more-indepth-post-but  In which case, Peridot and Lapis’ fusion could potentially be really tall, in view of how outrageously powerful Lapis is and how much Peridot’s metal powers have grown in such a short space of time!

It was subtly done, so as not to detract from the Natsu-Igneel stuff, but I LOVE the way Lucy showed concern for Natsu this chapter:

Non-comedic physical touch in FT (the manga, the covers are better in this respect) is pretty rare. Just the fact that she reached out and put her hand on his shoulder… I could live on this for a while.

But he’s a fire dragon slayer with a FIRE DRAGON inside him, so he’s burning up. (I wonder if Gajeel’s turned to iron!)

And just look at this group scene. Lucy’s attention is on Natsu. A ways away are Gajeel, Levy, and Juvia: Gajeel’s love interest and brotp. Levy and Juvia are focused on Gajeel; Levy has her hand on his shoulder, too. But just the composition of this panel clearly shows the various relationships.

I think I love this best of all. Everyone’s looking at this massive dragon that just came out of Natsu. Natsu’s all wrapped up in this moment: he finally sees his dad again!

But Lucy… she’s looking at Natsu. Concerned for him. Gauging how he’s taking all this. I see a bit of uncertainty in her, too. As if she’s not quite sure how to help him.

Ah, I love these sweet, subtle Nalu moments!

on soukoku and their relationship with each other

so i feel like i should start this off by saying that i do not ship soukoku—not for any particular reason, i just don’t—so i’m not at all looking at their relationship through shipping goggles or whatever. these are just my thoughts from what we know of their characters and their interactions with each other.

i’ve also never written anything resembling meta before so this is probably a mess of a post but whatever!! let’s get on with it.

my number one reason for writing this post is trying to figure out the answer to why exactly dazai and chuuya dislike each other so much, and when exactly this mutual hatred came to be. after thinking it over, there are three prominent possibilities that i’ve decided on: clashing personalities, some sort of intense betrayal, or a petty argument blown out of proportion. they all seem pretty reasonable, so let’s go over them one by one.

Wait wait what slip up? What he said during vlive? And what do you mean they are big time covering up? HAHAHHA IM SORRY IM SO ANNOYING I'm busy with finals so I haven't been following as closely as I should tbh

It’s ok bro I get it finals are a bitch >.

also, the video of the live I was talking about it is here w/ trans

Basically, Tae said he wanted Jungkook to end the live stream because he wanted to have a ‘cozy’ (there’s no actual word to describe what he said lmao) conversation with him which seems innocent but in Korea, these kinds of things are only said by couples/ to your lover and never to someone you consider ‘just a friend’ IDK how to explain lmao but it was trending in Korea because even they were shookth that Tae said that to Jungkook. (also this proves it was not a mistranslation hmmmM) this was submitted to me and this was an ask I got from an anon, both have Korean friends who explained why it was such a big deal that Tae said that to Jungkook.

Also, I say ‘cover up’ loosely lmaoo I just found it suspicious that Bangtan were suddenly ALL active on twt like even Jungkook and Suga posted???? whEN????? Idk the whole thing just seemed like they were trying to distract people/ take attention away from the live (let me just say that it worked btw lmao). This is just me looking at the situation with my shipping goggles though so don’t take it too seriously~
