“What is the point in beating yourself up over all of the the crappy things you’ve done? You did them! And and don’t say you had reasons, because at the end of the day, at the end of the world, nobody gives a damn about your reasons, because they are your reasons. No matter how much you punish yourself, it’s not gonna change anything. It’s not gonna bring anyone back.”
“Well, it seems to me that the best relationships - the ones that last - are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is… suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with.”
I made a gifset on this very subject yesterday and, honestly, it was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. Raquel does such amazing character work and I have fallen in love with about 90% of the characters she’s ever played. I’ve been considering making a top ten list with gifs. If so, this is what it would look like:
Hecate Hardbroom (The Worst Witch)
Susan Gately (Teachers)
Nancy Weeks (Moving Wallpaper)
Phyllis Baxter (Downton Abbey)
Elizabeth Waring (DCI Banks)
Jo Porter (Party Animals)
Miranda Cleaves (Doctor Who)
Mel Davies (Lead Balloon)
Sabine (Heading Out)
Julie Redding (Holby City)
Honestly this was also ridiculously hard. She’s just too good.
Jenna: We’ve asked the audience this question a lot, on why people like it, and what is it that appeals to you, and actually, we’ve had so many responses that are all so different. From “Because it gives me hope.” “Because it got me a fiancé.” “Because it’s an adventure and I like to think that I can go on that journey, too.” Maybe that is one of the things that is so special about Doctor Who, it’s this thing of it having these infinite possibilities. Each individual can find something in it for them.
