and just all of the backgrounds in general

I’m bitter AND sticky so let’s get gooey on topic!

People just? forgot that ton of season 3 episode’s visuals are  actually amazing? I mean it could be just me but this season clearly trowed a ton of budget into some scenes an episodes!

Super Watermelon Island got an amazing fluid fight scene between two giant women and it was as energetic as it sounds

Gem drill, even tho it was pretty chilly on animation, had ton of detail on Steven’s faces, I find it like such a sweet detail having in mind the episode was focusing a ton on Steven and his connection with the cluster

(this is my personal favorite)

Hit the diamond had a TON of characters on-screen at the same time, having in mind 5 of them where new characters and they had to design new clothing for 5 of them

Even though my favorite part of this episode is the bond between Amethyst and Peridot, I think Too Short To Ride was pretty consistent, I am in love every time they put little lines under the eyes of the characters because it usually helps to remark the emotion they are feeling, is personal.

Stevonnie’s back for Beach City Drift and the thing I like the most about this episode is the backgrounds and the color choices, they are AMAZING and pretty relaxing to watch on their own.

Monster reunion was pretty harsh to see for me because painful scenes (aka scenes where the character is clearly in pain) make me feel incredibly bad, but I again shot out how they draw emotions and the subtle lines that make it all even better.

More than for animation itself, I praise a lot Alone At Sea because of writing and atmosphere, and the last one really works, I felt incredibly… tense, when Jasper showed up, how she acted and the way she expressed herself, and how the colors got dark and the rain around it… just gosh

Even tho it was a pretty okay-o episode in general, I really liked Gem Hunt’s backgrounds, the whites and cold tones made a good mix with Jasper’s colors and really helped her to pop out!

I’ve talked a lot about Bismuth, so at this point everything would feel redundant, so I’ll just say that the first and last scenes have pretty good colors, one being calm pastel tones and the other reddish dark tones #BRINGHERBACK2K17

And finally, Bubbled, which has some on the most beautiful space backgrounds i’ve seen in an animation product, is the feeling of emptiness that makes the most of the episode personally, how is literally just Steven and Eyeball and Eyeball pretty much tries to kill him, in other situations you can think about something going on, but is the fact that they are in space what makes it feel… well… empty, giving more focus to the characters that contrast the most in a sea of dark cold tones and blacks!

There are posts about Finn that come across my dash frequently that really concern me.

It’s not that I don’t think musings about what a sweet innocent soul he is and imagining what his humble life must’ve been like are coming from a loving place, but Finn’s character has already been filled in via a canon source, and it was not humble.

Read the novel “Before the Awakening,” where you will learn that while FN-2187 may have pulled shifts as a janitor just like any military trainee has to work some shit jobs, he was actually the absolute rock star of his elite band of Stormtroopers. He was the natural leader, the best of them all, the highest scores in every possible measure, someone Phasma and Hux were well aware of as the shining example of what their pet Stormtrooper program could accomplish. He was everything they’d worked for for years.

The only problem was, he cared too much about his fellow Stormtroopers, even though they didn’t return the feeling, due to indoctrination and some envy of his superiority. It is pretty obvious, reading BtA, that Finn is Force sensitive. It is that Force sensitivity that set him apart, and made him the one who could overcome a lifetime of indoctrination and get out.

I know it’s the fault of the film for sketching him so lightly, but guys, it is crucial that we start acknowledging who Finn is, and his strengths. Which, canonically, are leadership, strategy, all the skills a commander must have. I worry that there is too much PRECIOUS PURE CINNAMON ROLL going on and not enough shared knowledge of his *canon character background and gifts*.

Please spread the word about Finn. This sort of thing shortchanges him horribly. When the FO lost FN-2187, they lost more than just another Stormtrooper. They lost a future general, and the Resistance picked one up.

time-travel au except instead of anakin/obi-wan/padmé going back in time, it’s one or a few of the Brothers

can you imagine what that would be like?

qui-gon and obi-wan are fighting darth maul on naboo, maul is clearly winning, and out of nowhere there’s this h u g e surge in the force

everyone is disoriented, maul recovers first and moves to deliver a killing blow, and all of a sudden he gets shot in the back like 27 times

in the background there’s the nearly incoherent babble of “kriffing hells that hurt what was it what happened holy shit that’s a sith that is definitely a sith should we shoot it sir we should definitely shoot it it’s about to kill a general we have to help did we kill it is it dead it’s gotta be dead now go check it i don’t want to check it let’s just shoot it again there it’s gotta be dead now are you alright generals”

maul is definitely dead, the energy shield things power down, obi-wan rushes to his master’s side and the incoherent babble gets louder as they’re suddenly surrounded by a team of men in white and blue armor all scrambling to provide aid

obi-wan, satisfied that his master isn’t going to get himself fucking m u r d e r e d any time soon, turns to examine to newcomers

a hush falls over the group when they see his face

then, out of the silence, comes “….holy kriff, sir, your boyfriend is a b a b y” followed by one of the men smacking the back of another’s helmet with a loud crack and growling “shut the fuck up, fives”

everyone is very confused for the foreseeable future

(bonus: the Brothers are d e l i g h t e d to meet baby!anakin, and he is equally delighted. no one else is delighted by a group of highly-trained soldiers calling a 9yo “general” and visibly restraining themselves from doing exactly what he tells them at all times.)

Cover Letters

If you all don’t have a cover letter template written up so you can just fill in the blanks during a job hunt, you’re doing yourself a major disservice bc man does it look professional and it can be SO fast and easy if you do it beforehand.

This is what mine looks like:

Date

Your Name

Company Name

Company Street Address

City, State, Zip

Dear Hiring Manager/Hiring Department (pick 1 depending on how big the company sounds)

I am interested in applying for the (Insert job position here) that was (insert how you found the job here). My resume is included for your review.

My background includes extensive customer service experience in fast-paced environments (If you were in a lot of fast food/retail). Through those experiences I’ve developed a large focus on customer experience and satisfaction, that would easily fit within your company’s dedication to positive customer relations. Insert something specific to the company’s creed here. My skills include (relevant program/being eager to learn new skills), (a thing you can do), and (probably something like “reliable work pace”).

I would sincerely appreciate getting to meet with you to talk about this opportunity further. Please feel free to email me or call to get in contact with me. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Your name again

Enclosure (it means a resume is attached too)

Short, sweet, to the point, and totally valid in p much any workplace. I wrote this up as a homework assignment for a business class and oh man it’s helped me out so much.

  • If you wanna write your own just keep the general structure the same:
  • 1st paragraph: what the job is, how you found it, you have a resume for them
  • 2nd paragraph: Your background, what you learned, how you would fit in, show you read a little bit abt the company, what you can do
  • 3rd paragraph: You wanna talk abt this in an interview, call or email you, thank them for their time

You can do this, cover letters don’t have to be intimidating!

little things I love about the fma fandom:

  • fan art for EVERYONE even though the cast is fucking massive. You want are of Catherine Armstrong? You bet! Frank Archer, who was literally invented solely for the purpose of being a twat 03? Tons! The dude from the background in Briggs with cool hair? You bet your ass Briggs Cool Hair Guy has art.
  • stupid short jokes we’re allowed to make since we’re all taller than our protagonist
  • “tiny miniskirts” could easily be the worst Annoying Fandom Catchphrase ever (and I’ll admit it probably was in the years following fma03) but these days I just see it used as an excuse to draw Roy Mustang in revealing clothing and who doesn’t love that?
  • those three weeks or so where there were flower crown edits everywhere, that was a good time
  • the general consensus that the correct term for Greed and Ling’s relationship is “roommates
    • the numerous AUs that accordingly write them as actual roommates
  • just the general fact that we’re still a thing?? like how the heck have we held so strong, by fandom standards we are elderly but we’re still kicking!
  • Olivier Mira Armstrong could beat up pretty much anyone in the fandom and we all know we’d thank her
    • but then there’s also a few people who are Extra in love with her, usually also along with the rest of Briggs. Bless them
  • here come the kimble
  • seriously, bless badlydrawnanime
  • royai shippers just fucking revelling in having the best dang straight ship anyone could dream of
  • still SO bitter about characters’ deaths (some of which happened more than a decade ago if you measure by the manga’s publication!) and probably more hypersensitive to jokes about them than any other fandom I’ve been in, yet also way, way more likely to make those infuriating jokes. We straight-up can’t help ourselves.
    • like I literally own a shirt that makes an “arm and a leg” joke it’s the most infuriating item of clothing I own any I love it
    • we basically wrote the book on Dead Anime Mom jokes, get on our level aaron jägerbomb
    • maes hughes. full stop.
  • the truest unifying constant through the years of our incredible, indelible loathing for Shou Tucker
  • Greed fans in general. Just… why are we like this. Help.
  • pretty chill as fandoms go? Not a whole lot of drama? thank god??
    • and as far as I’ve seen no drama specifically between 03 fans and manga/brohood fans like OH MY GOD can you imagine how annoying we’d be if that was a thing?
  • jaclcfrost posts
  • sassy alphonse
  • snap snap spark spark

With the “Wanted” event coming up I’m going to talk about something that’s been bugging me about su that I don’t see many other people talking about and the reason I am preemptively pissed off about the whole thing: Backgrounds

When su started the backgrounds where always really nicely done and a huge part of why i loved the show as it really didn’t look like a ton of other shows out there. Even with other shows that had more detailed backgrounds like gravity falls (especially towards the end) I always felt that su’s had the most stylistic cohesion which I admit is a personal bias but what the hell.

Backgrounds were creative, very nice looking and fit with the character designs very well and they still look really pretty.

I mean look at these! they’re so nice and sparkly and detailed! there was effort and style and substance and it looks great.

Back when homeworld had just been introduced i saw a lot of fan concepts about what it would look like and i was super pumped to see it since it would be an entirely new and creative environment that a talented group of artists would be creating and visualizing. Now we’re actually going (technically for the second time) and what do we get?

literally just colors in geometric shapes for character to float around in.

even in the more detailed shots they still don’t try that hard

they’re still messy and not quite as detailed.

su has been suffering from backgroung-sucking-itis for a while now and in my humble opinion watching this happen over the seasons it’s been a downward slope of less effort being put in and a reliance on the soft lined gradient style of the backgrounds.

not only have the backgrounds become less detailed but now the characters don’t even blend in with the backgrounds and just kind of.. float

the sharp thick lines and bright colors of the characters and the soft thin-lined pastel backgrounds don’t… really,, blend anymore and no one has shadows and where both the characters and bg are steadily looking worse its just.. sad at this point.

i started this post planning to rant and honestly? im just sad and disappointed and the backgrounds aren’t shiny and sparkly and nice anymore and all the characters look really ugly and homeworld looks like some random abstract screensavers and im.. tired.

if Hamilton had come out during the Glee Era, this is what the episode basically would be

- Opening scene: ND in the classroom talking among themselves. Schue walks in wearing full period costume. Everyone is confused and a little ashamed. Schue tells them he’s discovered they’re all failing history, and one of them tells him history is just SO BORING.

 - cut to a scene of somehow all the kids in the same class in various stages of unconsciousness while a Professor Binns type teacher drones on about the war of 1812.

- Schue assures them history is TOTALLY COOL, informs them about Hamilton, tries to white rap his way through either Guns and Ships or Yorktown. Santana makes that “why am I surrounded by white fools” face that she always makes. Hamilton is the assignment this week, even though COMPETITION looms in the future, but when have they ever actually practiced before the week of?

- Blaine has been super friendly with some guy from Dalton or from Hairgellers Anonymous or something, is constantly liking his posts on FB. Kurt sings “Burn” over a montage of Blaine ignoring him in ridiculous situations that no one would ever be on their phone during.

- Rachel has decided this week is one of the weeks where she’s aggressive about becoming a star, sings Satisfied.

- Tensions are getting high, so Artie flawlessly white boy raps through “What’d I Miss” while Mike dances, to lighten the mood.

- The kids are learning about Hamilton, but Schue is worried they’re not REALLY learning the point he’s trying to get at.

- Probably the Unholy Trinity sings “Schuyler Sisters”

- Schue walks back in on the kids excitedly talking about the show and/or history in general. Smiles that smile he smiles when he thinks he’s a good teacher. “See you guys? History is now. You’re the founding fathers. You’re the underdogs. Your time is coming, you just have to wait for it.”

- New Directions: YEAH!

- The group sings “Wait for It” in the auditorium either in full costume, or wearing just vaguely matching outfits. Finn takes lead, but Mercedes comes in on the middle solo.

- They all smile at each other at the end, while Schue makes that face again.

- Sue is in the background glowering that ND has managed to not fall apart yet again.

Creating Diversity from Generic White Script

So, I’m taking a screenwriting class, where we’re writing a short film script. I’m writing basically a story about an RA who’s struggling through the stress of like, cyclical catching students misbehaving, writing them up, school etc. My issue is, it’s a script, and something our prof has talked about is how it’s important to actively build diversity into the story to avoid the hollywood ‘Best (white person) For The Role’ which makes a lot of sense, but on the other hand, my story idea is currently… entirely generic, i.e.

I’m at that point where I have to make a decision about whether it would be fruitful to specify the race/ethnicities of certain characters. But my problem is, some of the characters speak very little, and most of them say things basically any student would say in the same situation. Even my main character speaks mostly in a professional context using basic RA lines like ‘hand over your IDs.’

Because it’s a script, it seems really weird to me to say, okay this character is asian, but then there’s no real reason for them to be or not to be, say, black, or latina, or mixed, etc.? At this point, I have to decide moving forward whether to build my characters to incorporate some indicators of specific racial/ethnic background (linguistic quirks, etc.), but I don’t know a) whether I should or not because it seems necessary only because of trying to subvert an all white cast, and b) how I might even go about this, again, seemingly arbitrary process.

So how can I build diversity into a script that’s relatively generic without it feeling arbitrary or canned? Or without specifically indicating race/ethnicity in a context in which it wouldn’t really be addressed outwardly?

[Redacted for readability]

Your professor is correct. It’s time to normalize People of Color in scripts, stories, in all forms of media. White is still very much the default for Hollywood and clearly your script as you struggle to place us just existing without it feeling unnatural or obtrusive.  You question whether it is fruitful to specify race where race won’t be addressed. I say it is. This is exactly what many of us want, just a story where we’re included and treated as human beings doing things, with agency, and not table settings and decorations for white characters to interact with.

It seems unnatural or unnecessary to specify race to you because you’re used to the default being white people who don’t need an introduction of race. It’s time to just stop feeling the need to have to explain our existence and just let us be there. Let us exist.

Why not add cultural and personal details, though? Even in the small ways? Honestly, if people are only speaking in professional terms and doing generic actions void of much emotion and personality, your story may come off as bland and the characters undeveloped and unmemorable. Perhaps I don’t have a full understanding of what you’re doing with this script, though.

The way people speak and the words they say, the way they react to things, it’s all informed by where we come from and who we are. You could show culture with a name, from the lunch they eat, the words they mumble in their native tongue in frustration…and those things come off as much more engaging to me than just White/Generic/Everyman does generic/ professional things.

~Mod Colette

I agree. We’d love stories where we’re the protags, but there isn’t a lot of hullaballoo about our identity. But that doesn’t mean wiping the slate completely.

(I’m thinking of a recent video featuring Martellus Bennett of the NE Patriots and how he actually has a book series with a Black protag going on adventures, and how he talked about the importance of having Black characters having their own stories that weren’t just about their identities.)

-Mod Jess

How to solve your problem: backstory.

Any generic script can be modified to PoC, depending on your definition of “generic.” If by “generic” you mean “ethnically uncoded"— well, you’re wrong. Generic is very ethnically coded. It’s white coded. You just don’t notice it because it’s the same markers in your life. If you watch something like Black-ish or Fresh Off the Boat, you’ll see the differences in ethnic coding in a family suburban sitcom.

If by “generic” you mean “uses archetypes familiar to the genre”, then you’re dealing with a situation where there really genuinely isn’t any race marker. As I mentioned— Black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat are family suburban sitcoms. These are generic plots, made different by asking: what would this ethnic group experience in this context?

You don’t seem to know enough about diverse ethnic groups in order to insert them into the narrative. Black people, for example, tend to dress more professionally than is required. This is because the markers of “casual and cool” for a white person (jeans, t-shirt, sneakers) are seen as “slob and inexperienced” for a black person. There are hundreds of examples like this, if you start looking.

As Colette said: you’re used to the default being white people. All of us are! This is something you have to actively unlearn. But the way to unlearn it is to ask the same questions you do in general character building.

Things like:

- How does this character’s background impact their behaviour?

- How do others see them? (Note- cultural markers like the above dressing professionally example heavily influence this)

- How did their parents push them?

- How do they want to be seen?

In order to build race into your characters, you have to get out of your all-white box and start to understand our perspectives. Just like you learn to write a whole bunch of different white people in writing, learn to write a whole bunch of Black, or Latinx, or East Asian, or South Asian people. We’re all still people, but our experiences have shaped us for who we are— just like white people.
When building characters, you have to ask yourself all of the questions about who they are and how they’re seen in order to write anything good. These are the steps for any character building, so if you’re thinking there’s too much work involved… well, sorry, no, there really isn’t. Not in this industry.

You live and die by your ability to create relatable characters, and in order to do that, you have to build backstory. And in order to build diversity in, you have to learn how to craft a PoC backstories that have just as much nuance and variety as white backstories.

I’m not sure my job could get any more fun. Discovered that dwarf mongoose enjoy popping bubbles.

This is the first time they received this enrichment- they weren’t sure what to think at first (especially because the machine makes a whirring noise) but then they got into it. Zookeeping win. Obviously mongoose would never see bubbles in the wild but this enrichment provides them with a novel, fun thing to watch and play with!

@aquaristlifeforme pls tell me your otters love bubbles

(Ignore the audio- I took this video in the public area and there’s just general chatter and some snippets of another animal demo in the background)

Wynonna Earp Cast, Crew & Fans - a Famdom

,We’ve just began season 2 and as this show gains new fans, new followers on here, twitter and even YouTube, old fans wanna remind the new ones to please see how this fandom has acted and continue that way.

We don’t pry into the actors lives, we support them as they support us. When they have stuff going on in their personal lives we’re happy for them. If they care about a cause then we jump on board with them doing whatever we can to help. In term we’ve raised a couple thousand for different causes and charities. When something bad happens in their lives we dont pry, we give our love and support and the cast all know that we’re there for them whatever they need.

There are no shipping wars in this fandom, I know from personal experience the 100 fandom and the Once fandom in particular can have one hell of a shipping war if people dont agree on a ship, and personally if everyone supported the exact same ship, itd get hella boring. if someone ships a couple of characters such as Waverly and Champ then we accept this. We all know the most famous ship at the moment is Wayhaught due to the show and it’s show writer defying the ‘bury your gay’ trope ( which FYI included a lesbian character being shot and living cause she wore a BPV). This happened in the middle of the big debate from Lexa being shot in the 100 after finally being happy to Root being shot in POI. It got to the stage where soon as Nicole was introduced people messaged Kat saying that ‘I hope your character has a bulletproof vest), it changed views, it made people remember that all LGBTQ+ people are valid and they can be happy and find love and be all the things in the world.

The cast themselves care so much about their portrayals, Dom and Kat even carrying out research into their roles and what LGBT means in the community right now, they’re researching the struggles, everything a person might go through and it’s changed them as people. The cast is doing anything and everything they can in order to change stereotypes, to give people confidence, to allow people to be themselves and to not be scared or ashamed, to be able to accept themselves and who they are. Its a show where people can be vulnerable, be a joker, be a fuck up, but still have so much inner strength, that we are more than just one thing. that we are more than what people perceive us to be.

Wynonna Earp is a show where people can find themselves, find their voice, find their inner strength, to face your demons, to accept themselves. Wynonna Earp is a show where the cast and crew treat the fans as friends and not just people the other side of the screen.Every con they make sure they talk to everyone, to hear their stories, to make sure our voices are heard too and they’re affected by this. They care so much and give back to their fans.

The crew behind the show constantly giving back to fans by doing giveaways, creating content to go with the show, to create awesome behind the scenes videos. (Major props to Allison, David, Robbie and all the gang at IDW)

There’s a video called Road to purgatory where the cast and crew talk bout the fans and what they mean to them.

Its a show where the fans have serious no chill from being the main reason why the show got S2, its a show where no chill involves sharing love every single day for each of the main cast and its show runner. A show where no chill involves saying thanks to the people BEHIND the show for everything they do and have done for fans. Its a show where the cast, crew and viewers all want the same thing.

This fandom is more than just a set of people with a similar interest, it’s an environment where people can be accepted, to make friends, to find their partners, when people are going through a hard time the fandom is right there offering support and a shoulder to lean on. Its a fandom where people can go when they believe all hope is lost, no matter what background, what race, gender, sexual orientation, everyone here matters, everyone is valid.

It’s a famdom that can save people, that can heal wounds, that can make anyone feel at home. Its a place where people can talk about the show, the cast or just anything in general, its a place where people can make friends, find their partners, its a place simply full of love and support and passion.

This fandom is more than just a group of people, it’s a family that’d do anything to give back to each other and to support each other and I hope as it grows it stays this way. Just please if you’re new, see how the fandom has acted in the past and please keep that going so we’re a place of hope, love and compassion for anyone and everyone that might need that certain place in the future,

My official redesign of the Beauty and the Beast 2017 ballgown. I tried to keep the general design of the new version while making it historically accurate. Think of her as a living golden rose.

nuclearmentality  asked:

I know you can't tell us if/when Infinity Train gets greenlit (I, for one, am hoping it does!), but I wanted to know how hard it was, overall, to make the pilot, and whether you think you'd be capable of running a full show.

It’s hard to say how difficult it was. Kinda difficult? It was the exact amount of work I expected it to be. I feel like “hard” or “easy” is sort of a relative term that often shows that something was more or less work than expected rather than objective difficulty. I planned things out as much as I could and tried to be easy to work with. I tried have a looser hand in some areas and stronger in others. Part of running a show is being able to give up certain aspects of the art of making a show to other people. So while I was allowed to do as much as I wanted, I intentionally tried to limit myself so I could practice.

Like for example, I was interested in doing the music, but I also knew that if I got my own show I wouldn’t be able to do that as it’s too much extra work. So I got Chrome Canyon, who I trust a ton, and sort of used this as practice in learning how to talk about music with someone. Talking about music can be difficult and it’s not something I have a lot of experience in, even though I make a lot of music myself.

The shorts crew is also very experienced, so even though I’m told my process went pretty smoothly, whenever I DID hit a bump they all knew what to do and had my back the whole time. They were super supportive. The shorts program is sort of there to help you learn about all the bits and pieces that go into a show and see how you handle them.

So for another example, something new I hadn’t done before is attend a breakdown of my episode. Breakdowns are where the art director and the production team sit and figure out every asset that needs to be made for an episode. This means they end up paging through the entire storyboard, panel by panel, and find every:

- new background

- new prop (anything a character interacts with like if they pick up a spoon or adjust a rear view mirror etc)

- new special effect (like a glint on a sword or an explosion)

- special poses (if a character makes a really weird reaction face someone has to design it)

- special colors (if a character changes to a different scene they might need new colors or rim light designs).

- every reused background/character/prop

- Just in general go over design notes

I’ve had experience doing all aspects of production in my own work, and as a storyboarder on Regular Show JG had occasionally allowed me to take part in different aspects of production, but I had never seen a breakdown before. Now that I have, on my own board no less, I very much feel it should be a requirement for every storyboarder to attend one breakdown meeting in their career. Seeing other people try to decipher your work is very illuminating and instantly made me change the way I boarded and labeled things so I could be more clear in order to make their jobs easier. Like they always told me “add this background” or “label stuff” but you don’t really KNOW know until you see exactly what they’re looking at and swearing about in the room.

I absolutely think I’m capable of running a full show. It would be a learning curve, but so is any new job. Just about everything that I can think of that a show runner does is stuff that I really want to do. It sounds like a lot of fun and I’d love to give it a go.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR 1000 FOLLOWERS! You all inspire me to do better and to work harder! I made these icons as a token of my thanks (and because they were really fun to make! haha) Please feel free to use them! I’m not really a graphic designer or anything but I hope you guys like them hehe.

If you want, you can message me to change the background color or add your username somewhere! Don’t be shy!

Please reblog & like if you use them (or if you just like them in general! It would be greatly appreciated hehe). Thank you! Love you all hehe

AU where the dregs go to an amusement park

asdasdj OKAY BUT:

- the dregs daring kaz to go on the ghost train and he’s like i ain’t afraid of no ghost?? so he gets on and 5 min later there are two men clad in sheets literally pushing through the staff exit, two spooky knights trailing after them and one skeleton muttering “i didn’t sign up for this” (you can clearly see kaz behind them, casually swooshing his cane around, the epitome of calm)
- meanwhile wylan decides to prove to kaz /and to himself + brag a little in front of jesper) he can handle the ghost ride too so he gets on another train, smoothing his hair back, rolling up his sleeves, acting all cool and badass. 5 min later wylan reappears, white as a sheet, wheezing a little, saying “the lamest ghosts i’ve ever seen!! hahahhahah!! fear who?? i don’t know her”
- nina treats inej to a delicious ice cream cone and they take cool pictures dressed up as marie antoinette and nina fills up her dress so much (and well) the photographer can’t get his bearings while nina just smooths down her skirts with a haughty smirk like, “from one cake lover to another”
- inej makes an offhanded comment about this plush tiger she liked and how it’s ridiculous to pay so much money to shoot a target in order to get smth so it becomes the dregs’ mission to get her that toy
- five minutes later the squad rolls up carrying an entire bag of plushies, some short cash and owner’s apology written in ink while he begged kaz not to set his amusement park on fire
- inej smiles, shakes her head and gives the tiger to a little brown girl who seems lonely and upset while her friends are at the playground with their barbies (she also tells her how tigers are one of the scariest felines AND predators in the entire world and it can eat three barbies at once)
- meanwhile matthias decides to try his luck with the high striker (that’s how it’s called here so idk if that’s the right term but it’s that thing where you test your strength by smashing a lever with a hammer), not really trying to boast about himself or anything and literally BREAKS the lever, apologizing profoundly to the completely shocked guy holding his price
- kuwei is just chilling on the carousel like, “this is nice”
- they collectively get on the roller coaster and even kaz screams at some point even if no one can tell if it’s the urge to puke or he’s actually genuinely happy and enjoying life rn
- either way they try every other ride until they’re literally green and regretting A Lot of the choices they’ve made in the past half an hour but they’ll always remember that day as one of the best days in their life - not just as a team but individually as well
- after they’re done puking (inej is the only one holding up but she helps them cope with the aftermath of the rides by gently holding nina’s hair, patting jesper on the back, safekeeping kaz’s cane, throwing dirty glances at anyone who makes a face at them bc excuse you you’d be sick after 15 amusement rides too?? tf??)
- later, they all go for refreshments while jesper shows them the pics he’s taken on his phone when they weren’t looking. there’s even one where kaz’s unmistakingly smiling at no one in particular (it’s just a coincidence inej’s laughing in the background and kaz’s head is turned in her general direction)
- the pic /mysteriously/ disappears a few hours later but the good memories (and the rest of jesper’s camera roll) remain

Ryden Theory

This is a compilation of evidence confirming the very popular sun and moon theory (and overall ryden). Basically, the theory is that Panic! At The Disco’s Brendon Urie and Ryan Ross have a romantic relationship, which they hint at in songs through the titles ‘sun’ (Brendon) and ‘moon’ (Ryan). I will prove this theory to be true using lyrics from Ryan’s solo music, Panic! Lyrics, lyrics from songs released by Ryan’s band ‘The Young Veins,’ and general background knowledge of the bands. I do not mean to offend anyone, and I am not saying this is fact. I just know us fangirls need some hope, so I’m gathering it all into one (soft and) neat pile. I understand that Brendon is happily married, and this is only for fun.
Let’s begin:

A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out:
This was the band’s first album, meaning Ryan and Brendon had not known each other as long, and may not have been together yet. So, understandably, there are no sun and moon references in this album.
Pretty. Odd.:
1- Nine In The Afternoon- “And your eyes are the size of the moon.” This is a simple reference to the moon, but considering it is mentioned in a song that refers to the people in the song as lovers (“feeling as good as lovers can”), it can be seen as evidence.
2- Do You Know What I’m Seeing?- “Clouds are marching along,” “I never gave a damn about the weather and it never gave a damn about me,” and “birds are just hollow words.” All of these lyrics are describing things that can be found in the sky, as if the song is from the point of view of something in the sky, like a sun or a moon. Also, if you really wanna stretch it, you could take the lyric “if I go to hell, will you come with me” as evidence. Going to hell is going down, and something that lives in the sky might see earth as hell.
3- I Have Friends In Holy Spaces- “I’d like it a lot more than you think, if the sun would come out and sing with me.” Ryan sings very rarely, but after this song, Ryan has some important vocal parts. Sure, Ryan is the moon, so that doesn’t make too much sense, but it seems too perfect to be a coincidence.
4- Northern Downpour- “Hey moon, please forget to fall down.” It says moon, and I’m not gonna try to look any farther into the lyrics because I don’t understand what sugarcane and weather vanes have to do with anything.
5- When The Day Met The Night- “When the moon fell in love with the sun,” “When the sun found the moon,”and “All was golden when the day met the night.” This song is the best piece of evidence for this theory. The entire song is just telling the love story of the sun and the moon. Also, in a live version of the song, Brendon accidentally used male pronouns for both the sun and the moon.
6- She Had The World- “Spun the stars on her fingernails,” “When I look in her eyes, well I, just see the sky,” and “the sun was always in her eyes.” The entire song makes many references to the sky, which is a clue in itself, but the song also specifically says that they see the sun in the person’s eyes.
7- Mad As Rabbits- (Evidence of ryden, not sun and moon) “Paul Cates” and “Reinvent love.” Paul Cates is an lgbt activist, and reinvent love is referring to lgbt relationships, like ryden.

Vices And Virtues:
This is the album after Ryan left, so almost none of this evidence is sun and moon, and instead just Brendon being salty af.
1- The Ballad Of Mona Lisa- “Say what you mean, tell me I’m right, and let the sun rain down on me.” I take this as Brendon being angry that Ryan left, and saying ‘Well forget our sun and moon thing’ by using it in spite of him.
2- Let’s Kill Tonight- Let me begin this by saying, I thought this song was talking about having a hell of a night, but he might be saying ‘let’s murder Ryan tonight.’ I’ll take it piece by piece. “Make room! We’re taking over here.” Everyone says Ryan left because of musical differences, so Brendon might be saying that he is finally taking control of the band and doing what he wants with it. “Cold and alone, it suits you well.” This is probably Brendon teasing Ryan by saying that he will be alone because he no longer has Brendon. “May your feet serve you well, and the rest be sent to hell.” His feet serving him well is referring to him walking out on the band, and the other part is just him telling him to go to hell. “Where they have always belonged.” He is telling Ryan he belongs in hell. “Cold hearts brew colder songs.” This honestly might be a crack at Ryan’s songwriting skills. “Let’s kill tonight.” Basically, he wants to murder Ryan.
3- Hurricane- “You’re behind my eyelids when I’m all alone.” He still thinks about Ryan, but he is ashamed of that. “I want you to catch me like a cold.” He wants to be held in Ryan’s arms. “Give me peace, Oh, kiss me.” He wants Ryan to kiss him. Pretty obvious.
4- Memories- “She was the youngest of the family, and the last to be let go.” Brendon is the youngest band member and will be the last original member to be let go because everyone else left poor bden. “When they decided they would try to make it on their own.” Jon and Ryan decided to try and make music on their own. “When July became December, their affection fought the cold.” Ryan left in July, so maybe Ryan and Brendon tried to stay together after he left, but it slowly became harder because of touring and being in different bands. “They were young and independent, And they thought they had it planned, Should have known right from the start, you can’t predict the end.” Ryan and Brendon thought they would be together forever, but they did not.
5- Trade Mistakes- I feel like Brendon wrote this song from Ryan’s POV after he left Panic! Keep that in mind when reading the lyrics. “If I ever leave, I could learn to miss you, but ‘sentimental boy’ is my nom de plume.” A nom de plume is a pseudonym. So, he may be saying, Ryan seems emotionally cold, but he really does miss Brendon after leaving. “If I trade mistakes for sheep.” This is saying that leaving panic! Was a mistake on Ryan’s part.
6- Always- “I’m a fly that’s trapped in a web, but I’m thinking that, my spider’s dead.” He is saying that he is in love (caught in a web), but the spider is never going to come end his suffering (Ryan will never come back.) The song overall is a hopeless song of unrequited love that seems to perfectly fit the emotions Brendon would be feeling after his boyfriend left him.
7- Sarah Smiles- “I was fine just a guy living on my own, waiting for the sky to fall.” This is saying that he was all alone, waiting for the moon to come back. (I died when I figured that one out.)
8- Nearly Witches- “Marching clocks.” This is a lyric from Behind The Sea, so Brendon is referencing Ryan’s lyrics. (This lyric was one added by Brendon, so it was not from the demo.) “As a girl.” He was trying so hard to make it sound like he wasn’t talking about Ryan that it has the opposite effect. “Trembling hands play my heart like a drum but the beats gotten lost in the show.” This is saying that Ryan (a musician) used to love Brendon, but now Brendon wasn’t so sure if he did.
9- Stall Me- “Why would you bring me in if you knew what you’d become?” Brendon is asking why Ryan would ever start their relationship if he knew he was going to leave the band. “So curse everyone and everything, even the sun.” I think Brendon is saying that he hates everything, even himself.
10- Kaleidoscope Eyes- “I’ll still be here, wishing and waiting for you to come home.” Does that even need explaining?

Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die:
At this point, Brendon is in a very serious relationship (which became marriage in April of the year this album was released), so he had no references to Ryan. If you look really far into it (which I have done), you will find evidence, but it makes me sound like a crazy conspiracist.
Death Of A Bachelor:
1- House of Memories- “Memories turn into daydreams.” He is referencing the song Memories, saying that the pain that comes with remembering Ryan has faded. “When your fantasies. Become your legacies, promise me a place, in your house of memories.” He is saying that whenever Ryan becomes big in the music industry (hopefully), Brendon wants Ryan to remember him. “I think of you from time to time, more than I thought I would.” Brendon continues to think about Ryan, even six years after Ryan left. “Thoughts of past lovers, they’ll always haunt me.” Brendon continues on the idea of Ryan ‘haunting’ him, which originates in the song Nearly Witches.

And that is the end of Panic! They have not released music since that album, and I’m sure if they did, it has been so long that they would provide no new evidence. So, now we shall move on to the most depressing segment, but the section that contains really convincing evidence. Ryan Ross’ solo music!
Ryro’s Solos:
1- Lonely Moonlight- “The sun went down.” He lost Brendon. “Another day I lost, filled with regret.” He regrets leaving Panic! “I wandered through the sunshine, remembering when you were mine.” He is remembering whenever the sun was his. “Lonely moonlight.” A lonely moon lets off lonely moonlight, and he is very lonely without Brendon. “When I had a younger heart, you told me not to fear the dark.” When he was younger, Brendon(the sun)’s light lit his way. Also known as Brendon helped him through tough times. “Someone I love, loves someone else.” Brendon married Sarah four months before this song was released. That makes this song even more heartbreaking.
2- At Your Window- “Then it’s been dark since the sun came up, and now that your window’s shut.” By saying that his window is shut, Ryan is trying to say that Brendon is shutting out the moon, or cutting all ties with Ryan, and ignoring him. “And I find myself outside, at your window in the night.” The moon is outside everyone’s window at night, so I think Ryan is saying that he still finds himself wanting to be Brendon’s moon. “Through the sun, I see where I come from.” He mentions the sun again. (like, Ryan, isn’t this a little much. Why don’t you just scream an admission of your love for Brendon?) “Throw a stone at your home do you really even live here.” Once again, he is being ignored by Brendon Urie.
3- I’m down- “We got down.” This might be saying that they are no longer the sun and the moon because they left the sky. Also the title of the song is evidence because Ryan might be referring to the lyric ‘hey moon, don’t you you go down’ from Northern Downpour. That title might be a way of saying that things are really over because the moon has gone down.
4- Where I Belong- “If you wanna see the sun, you’re gonna have to dig your way out.” If he wants Brendon back, he is gonna have to work hard to get back into Panic!. “I’m done with the dark.” He wants his sun back. “I know I should’ve never left.” He wishes he hadn’t left Panic! (I know that isn’t ryden proof but whatever)

And now for The Young Veins Section.

The beautiful music The Young Veins created before their tragic death (the band not the members Ryro and Jon are alive):
1- Maybe I Will, Maybe I Won’t- “At least will you come visit me.” Ryan wants Brendon to at least try and make their relationship work.
2- Everyone, But You- “She comes to me when I dream, I’m tired of counting sheep to see her, I sleep because I need her, And everybody knows it but you, But you.” He is basically saying that he dreams about Brendon and misses him, but Brendon is the only one who doesn’t know that.
3- Take A Vacation- “If this is settling down, then why aren’t you here?” It is hitting Ryan that he and Brendon will not be together forever. “We’ll leave the waves at the ocean,” and “and leave the sand in a suitcase, so we don’t forget the fun,” both connect to the fact that Brendon left his virginity on a beach in North Carolina. A beach, might I add, that him and Ryan were both swimming at least half naked in. Plus, Ryan posted a romantic poem that night about kissing at the beach. I need to post a separate theory all about the ocean.
4- The Young Veins (Die Tonight)- Ryan said this song was written before he and Jon had left Panic! He also said he was having girl (Brendon) problems at the time. “Is ‘young’ a word for ‘dumb,’ a word for ‘fun’?” He and Brendon were young, and he feels stupid that they ever thought things would work out between them. “But if I were to die tonight, Would you cry or deny, My place in your life?” Brendon may have been ashamed of being with Ryan, so Ryan wondered if Brendon even cared. “I’m aware that you’re scared, Of my heart, but it’s here.” They were both young when romantic lyrics began appearing in their songs, so Brendon may have been overwhelmed by being in love that soon. He might have been scared of being in a serious relationship. “The shame is enough to separate us.” We all know that Brendon is very accepting of every sexuality, but he may have been more hesitant back then. “It really hurts when it’s wrong.” Once again, they may have been ashamed of being in a relationship with another man.
5- Dangerous Blues- “All I do is lie by the ocean side.” Once again, this may be referring to the fact that Ryan and Brendon most likely had sex for the first time the same night that they visited a beach. “Step outside your door, and go to the shore.” This is also probably about Brendon and him having sex at the ocean.
6- Lie To The Truth- “I know I broke your heart, Mine is broken too, Now if we’re even, Then why are we both blue?” He may be saying that he broke Brendon’s heart by leaving, and he broke his own heart as well, so why don’t they just stop hurting each other and try to make things work.
7- Heart of Mine- “If I could ask for anything, I’d only want my girl… I had to leave her all alone.” Dude. He left Brendon when he left Panic!… Dude.

I will post a separate theory for the Myrtle Beach theory if anyone wants me to. Leave a comment if you want me to post any other Panic! theories or if you have anything to say about this theory.

Star Boys ⭐ ~ step-by-step process of >this< piece (^   v ^) <3 click through for minor captions!

since Tumblr can only hold eight photos, here’s my process reduced to eight steps. there’s a lot more fussing and changing and adjusting that goes in, but this feels like a good overview.

and here’s some bonus back story! X3 hehe~ i was really frustrated with my work last week… i honestly felt like maybe it was just time to move on and do something totally different. like it was just time to pack in my character work and go back to being a graphic designer. i kept starting new things over and over and over again and throwing them away. i felt very defeated. i was drowning my sorrows in coke zero and k-pop videos when i decided to just draw some self indulgent garbage to make myself feel better, regardless of how it might turn out looking. and i had no idea that it’d turn into this! XD

so when you’re thinking~ “why Pidgy… why did you dress those beautiful boys so stupidly?!?!” (7O  [  ]O)7 it was the k-pop dood! i was under the influence! have you seen the ridiculous/awesome clothes they wear?!?!? it’s FABULOUS! and i didn’t start drawing this thinking that i’d ever post it! HAHAHA!!! but it just worked out so smoothly! (O  v O) <3 and i felt myself feeling again like i knew i could - and new i wanted to - improve! I AIN’T GIVING UP YET!!!! (>   A <)

so yeah… (^   v ^);;; it’s a bit silly, and very colorful! hahaha! but~ i really tried my best to do new things and put my best foot forward… so i hope some of you enjoy it! i still have so much more i want to do! (O    w O) <3 <3 <3

The Otayuri Age Gap Dilemma

Discussing with some friends of mine I realised why Otayuri’s age gap is so much discussed and everyone seems to have something to say about it.
While two and a half years aren’t a big of a age gap at all their age in general make many people all around the world feel cringey for many reasons, I think this is mostly interesting socially speaking.
Aside from your own personal beliefs your opinion on such a topic comes from your cultural roots. At first I thought it CRAZY that people felt disgusted but then I realized that we just have different backgrounds.
Here I’m not saying it is fucking right to marry/fuck a child or talk a person whose sexual identity is still wobbly into having sex, so let me explain.
Earlier this year I made a post about how otayuri was ok and people just started saying “you say Yuri P. is old enough to have sex but calling Otabek an adult is wrong as he is still a child”, if you think that, my dude, I’ll stop you right there. Where I come from, Italy, relationships between young people are percieved differently than they are in America. Between the age of 14 and the age of 25 it is normal for kids to date each other, and a normal pattern for my country is: 16 years old girl w/ a 18 to 21 years old guy. Of course that doesn’t mean that some parents want their 14 years old kid to date a 25 years old person, but it’s not completely unseen, especially in the southern areas. Many of us kids have had the talk with our parents at age 14 because they thought “it is at that age you start getting in relationships and stuff”.
So, with this background I found it unbelievable that people felt downright disturbed by such a tiny ass gap.
But as it turned out in America is way more conservative, and even if there are of course exceptions it is normal that people from such a background think that such a ship is inappropriate. Just the legal age of consent in both Italy (14, 16 in some cases) and America (18) says a great deal about the culture of those countries.
All over the world people grow up in different environments and percieve things differently, so y'all stop being nasty and shit. Realise that both parts of the fandom are right.

EDIT: hi lovelies, just wanted to drop by to say I used America as an EXAMPLE of what i thought was “most different” from my own culture 💗

Hi! I really want to read the Iliad, but both times I've tried reading it I just become so overwhelmed. I read the Odyssey for school a few years ago and enjoyed it, so I was really hoping to read/enjoy the Iliad. I'm not sure if it's just all the different characters that are confusing me or if it's the language itself? Should I first do some research/have background knowledge of the story? (I already have a fair amount of knowledge of greek mythology in general) Any advice would be great!

First things first: make sure you’ve got a good translation, because there’s literally nothing worse than trying read twelve million lines of badly translated Homeric Greek. Personally I’d recommend Fitzgerald, but a lot of people (especially people who don’t read a whole lot of verse and are looking for something looser) prefer Fagles. Read up on that, grab a couple of different copies and see what feels most comfortable. That’s step one, and you may find that solves your problem without any further steps. If that doesn’t help, then it might be time to look into a reader’s guide. As for which one, I’m not going to be very much help with that because it’s not something I’ve ever used. (You might try the classics side of Tumblr. @terpsikeraunos? @thoodleoo? Maybe you can steer Nonnie in the right direction?)

Sorry if I wasnt really active, I have my intensive class this week, meaning that I have to draw non stop for 6 hours with onlumy 2x 10 mins break ahaha. I took this class to improve the way I draw nature and I guess background in general?? so the entire class draw outside. But its like fucking hot in Paris right now so it makes it even more difficult ahah. And I have a lot of homework to do but I just finished it ;;; Now I’m going to bed since I only slept 3 hours last night ahah dont kill me Anyway I love you all a LOT! I will never stop to say this eheh. And also sorry to all the people that I hurted, idk who but really sorry. OK NIGHT NIGHT💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
