hc + drinking

send me hc + a word & i will write a headcanon about that word.

alcohol is something sam enjoys a lot. he will and can drink anything ( but he really hates horrible beer — so nathan, get the good beer OR ELSE!! ) he likes to go out and grab a drink at the bar, every now and again. he would drink with rafe A LOT!! like rafe was his ultimate drinking buddy while they were partnered up - i’m just saying - this needed to be stated before i wrote the complete headcanon.

drinking isn’t something he is addicted to but he does drink, as often as he can. more often than not he indulges in alcohol to keep himself from dwelling on personal responsibilities and problems. sam doesn’t take responsibilities for his actions - he is very child-like in that manner ; instead he avoids it - and at times he can be very manipulative, thinking his problems are bigger than nathans ( referring to the part when he goes on about what he put on the line as if it is bigger than what nathan did - all because he knows that his brother will feel the surviors guilt he once felt before. )

first. it was shown that he drank when at the auction. the conversation is very much OPTIONAL!!! but if you do have the optional conversation with sam he will tell nathan about his worries of getting caught when stealing the cross ( he’s literally sweating bullets ). worried about what might happen to them. later you can see him drinking during the auction while nathan swipes the key card ( though they did that a lot in the past it had been 15 years since they last saw each other, one would excuse him if he believed they would end up getting caught )

second. he was seen drinking again after they successfully stole the cross — victor mentioned elena. nathans wife who nathan had been lying to ( sam didn’t tell nathan to lie to her , and he wouldn’t have told him to lie to her , he stayed out of their relationship ) but the whole situation brought the fact that sam was currently lying to his younger brother back to the front of his mind… and he took yet another drink… trying to convince victor - or more-so.. himself that nathan was ‘meant for this life’ this was something he truly believed ( yet had been doubtful due to seeing how happy his brother was previously. )  not thinking this whole ‘marriage’ thing could last. not for people like them.

third. once again the whole ‘marriage’ and ‘lying’ takes place in this — sam tries to use the alcohol as a distraction - handing his brother a cold beer ( after nathans argument with elena ) and attempts to remind him of how far they’ve come ; knowing damn good and well that he was lying to his brother and that had he told him the truth from the beginning his brothers life wouldnt be in shambles, though… sam didn’t feel bad about what he had done. maybe somewhere? but FOR THE MOST PART sam is stuck in the past !! thinking he and nathan only need each other and will only ever need each other — this, of course, does change by the end of the game, but sam does miss the old day because he’s still partially stuck in the past ( it’s something he had to learn to get used to. )

this isn’t to say sam doesn’t drink unless he’s nervous, or anxious, it just means that when he becomes nervous, anxious, or is attempting to avoid personal responsiblities he will drink a lot more often.
