I’ve been seeing a lot of things related to Keith’s abandoning fear and trust issues and pidge. I’ve seen people being angry at pidge because of it, but when you think about it... THEY HAVEN’T HAD A PROPER BONDING MOMENT! I LUST FOR A BONDING MOMENT BETWEEN THESE TWO IN THE NEXT SEASON!
Wait, people are mad at Pidge? EXCUSE ME, BUT… She wanted to leave because she wanted to find the closest people to her, her family whom she loved the most and were there for her entire life, not to mention she thought they were dead at some point, I believe.
I would do the same thing, might be a little selfish, yes, I don’t blame her, she didn’t know that Keith has such issues and I’m not surprised he acted that way towards her too, but let’s be real. She seems to be like Keith, more and more while I’m learning about her character. Pidge didn’t have that strong bond with the Voltron team at that moment, she just met them tbh, but Keith wanted her to stay, even if he didn’t know her that well, the boy felt she is someone who he can dare to open up and be friends with, and since she said she is leaving, all this hope broke at that point and he snapped, because this was the only way he can deal with people leaving him. Pushing them away.
After all of these pieces of information, I’ve gathered, I’m not surprised he is not interacting with her that much and why he didn’t listen to her at first in season three. He built a wall in case she or someone else will leave again. They can work in a battlefield, sure, but casual talk is something Keith is afraid to do with her. He will open up, and then what, her brother and father will be back and she will leave them again. She will leave him again. Either Keith, is afraid he can be hurt again, or he will hurt her, or both.
You saw how Keith reacted when Shiro was away. He snapped too. This proves that at this point he is closest to Shiro, and Pidge is the second, even when they didn’t talk much on screen, we now can assume why. Dream Works literally showed that to us in Keith’s Vlog. What is more interesting, she is the only one he snapped directly at and he is aware of that too, otherwise, we wouldn’t see that in his flashback. In other situations, he just screamed at everybody but still kind of not at Pidge. “GUY’S WE NEED TO FOCUS, GUYS, BE QUIET.”
Pidge was giving logical explanations, while Lance and Hunk were goofing around. He was referring to boys.
If we want to see them interacting more, Keith needs to break his walls and open up to Pidge, like he probably wanted to at the start and Pidge must gain his trust, even more. I think season 4 has a great opportunity to do this, I feel like, if Pidge gets’s her brother back, this might help her to open up to others as well, this includes Keith. Maybe we will finally see them getting over the drama from the beginning and their relationship, “friendship will blossom” into “more emotional friendship” if you know what I mean.
