His nephew’s birthday was today.
Yes. March 12th it was. He even remembered coming to the farm one year around that date for the kid’s birthday.
…so, maybe he was only 90% sure.
He wrote the text - keeping it short and simple, because he was not known for being verbose:
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VIRGIL!! ~From your uncle Jensen.”
He even added a little animated image before he hit the “send” button, fairly proud of himself.
Well… Virgil supposed he got points for at least trying. He sat at his desk with an amused smile as he quickly replied the message he’d been sent.

So, I have good news and bad news. The good news is, today is someone’s birthday. The bad news is, it’s not mine. Mine’s August 15th, for the record. It’s Alan’s birthday today, so you might want to give this a second try.
