and i just feel like people are going to think i copied someone else's idea

Some of these will not apply to many people so pls take them with a grain of salt. Also I’ve been collecting these pretty much for the two years I’ve been in college so it’s not a guide, they’re just… random I guess.

Making friends

Warning - specially tailored for super shy people aka me

  • There’s a thing called the ‘first week window of endless oportunities’. It’s when groups are still forming and everyone’s desperate to make friends. This is the time to put your best self forward (I’m not saying be fake, just a little extra friendly).
  • Leave. Your. Door. Open. Do it. Even if you have a roommate. Best way to make friends the first week.
  • Actually get out of your room. You’re not going to meet many people if you hole up in your room. If you have a tv room or people are watching a movie, I don’t care if you’re not interested in what they’re watching, go.
  • If you have the balls to go to the room nextdoor and introduce yourself then you probably can skip this section by all means do it!
  • But if you don’t, going from door to door asking for help with your laundry takes a lot less courage + you will learn how to do laundry. Asking to borrow something (pencil, hair tie, hair dryer) also works.
  • If you’re staying at a residence hall, ask to sit with people at lunch! Nobody is going to say no, i promise.
  • Similarly if you see someone alone, ask them to have lunch with you!
  • Also if you meet someone you get along with, as soon as you can, ask for their number ‘so you can go to the dinning hall together’.
  • Remember people’s names - it makes people feel like you actually care about them. I know it’s hard but make an effort. Also it just gets annoying when someone asks about your name for the fourth time. Use mnemonics if you have to.
  • Asking what someone’s major is and where they’re from is standard procedure when you meet them but it doesn’t make for an interesting conversation. Think of other questions!
  • Make sure to arrive about 10 min early to your classes. There’ll be very few people and so it’ll be easier to strike up a conversation (actually people will probably talk to you without you having to say anything which is g r e a t)
  • Say yes - as a rule of thumb, your social life should prevail over your academic life the first two weeks. This is the time where you’re not really pressed for time. Say yes to watching movies, say yes to going to lunch, say yes to going to campus events (and even to parties). Obviously don’t do anything that makes you really unconfortable but do try to step out of your comfort zone
  • Make friends with an upper-classman from your same major. Or at least be on speaking terms. Talk to them on Facebook, ask them about your major, just use any random idc excuse to introduce yourself, it doesn’t really matter how you do it.
  • Don’t go home every weekend, even if you live close by. You’ll miss out on the best of campus life and some of the most fun memories with your new friends.

Keeping your old friends

  • If you know you’re going home for the weekend, try to finish most of your assignments/studying and make time to hang out with your friends. Spending time with them is the best way to keep those friendships alive.
  • But! Don’t worry too much if you can’t come home or make time for your friends too often, you just have to make an effort to text them regularly. It will come naturally if it’s your best friend, but don’t forget to set a reminder to text other close friends at least once every two weeks.
  • You may think you don’t care now but you will once you come home for the summer.
  • If any of your friends are staying in your hometown for college, be ready for them to get another friend group. That doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about you, but don’t be mad if they seem to have a lot more plans that don’t involve you. You can always ask to tag along some time and maybe even become friends with these people!
  • Some people you’ll just lose contact with. Don’t fret it.

Organization

  • Please print out or buy a calendar that has a whole page for each month. With boxes preferably *shameless plug*. You may think you have it all under control but there’s nothing like being able to see all your due dates, hang out plans and laundry days at a glance. (Also js but the pilot frixion are perfect to use on calendars because they’re erasable).
  • There’s so much space under your bed. UTILIZE IT.

Hey rat what where the things that made you stop defending sixpenceee. I did some of my own research but I wanna know what you think

The main two things that I saw all the time and could absolutely no longer defend:

  • sheer laziness in post-making; she didn’t fact-check basic points, she got names/dates wrong, her posts were riddled with terrible grammar and spelling, and she sourced sporadically at best. I couldn’t understand why someone with such an influential blog would spend so little time on it. not to mention a lot of the posts were awkwardly worded and/or just badly written in general.
  • post-stealing; I’ve seen her copy-paste huge chunks of Wikipedia articles, huge chunks of Reddit stories/threads, huge chunks of other bloggers’ posts. she’s even done it to me – I’ve posted something and @’d her in the tag, and she’s taken the post and reposted it to her blog. sometimes she would “credit” me as in saying I found it, but she never reblogged my actual work. god knows how many other people she did this to.

These are the two things I saw constantly all the time, and the laziness and plagiarism just really rubbed me up the wrong way. Some of the other stuff also happened often but didn’t annoy me as much (but I didn’t appreciate it, either), and some of this stuff rarely happened/I didn’t witness myself, but they’re all factors:

  • the money grabbing/constant self-promoing/note grabbing; like, I get it. no one is on Tumblr if they’re not looking for notes, but stuff like “follow for my woke soul” and ““deep”” quotes I used to see on stickers for MySpace profiles were just embarrassing and annoying. not to mention the mall goth shirts and the constant reblogs of her several other blogs. I didn’t follow for that. I followed for creepy content, and I got less and less of that over tie.
  • the art stealing; sixpenceee made shirts out of a lot of art I’m pretty sure she’s not licensed to use, including stuff under copyright law. this is really reckless behaviour and while most of the time I think copyright laws are bullshit I only apply this to massive corporations raking in billions. small independent artists are a different matter altogether. plus the shirts are constantly reblogged and very badly made. it’s just more of the above: she puts no effort in to anything.
  • ableism; I’m going to admit that I haven’t seen as much of this as it’s made out and that was the main reason why I sat on the fence for so long, but the more I read multiple accounts of people saying the same thing the more I can’t turn a blind eye anymore. once enough people are saying it, and for so long, it’s probably wise to take note. also when I sat down and thought about it I do remember several occasions where she’s tagged things mentally ill people have made/gone through as “creepy”, and a lot of the stories she rips off from Reddit do have the cheap ““twist”” of “and then………… he was MENTALLY ILL!!!111!!”
  • harassment/bullying/etc; this was something I hadn’t seen when people first started messaging me about her and for a while I did have the opinion of “well she can’t control her followers” but the more I’ve looked into it the more I’ve seen countless people saying that she either encouraged it or played the victim to encourage it, and several bloggers have been bullied into taking breaks or leaving altogether. she seems to do this to people who speak out against her, or other paranormal bloggers. I get you can’t control your followers but she has so much influence that she could shame them into stopping with one post. I have a fraction of her followers (in the five digits) but even I have had to do it in the past. it’s simple. you just make a post saying you don’t condone it and to stop, and 90% of people do. if people are bullying others in your name, shouldn’t you be ashamed? shouldn’t you want them to stop?

I feel really annoyed that it came to this because sixpenceee did help me out a lot at one point, and while I’m still grateful for that, one reblog two years ago is not enough for me to stay silent about all this anymore. there’s too much evidence against her and this “pay me to be nice to you” idea of hers says too much about her that makes me personally uncomfortable. I followed for good creepy content, not lazy posts, plagiarism, and fraud. everything else I’m more inclined to believe because of that “sixpenceee heals” post, too – and the fact that so many people have messaged me calling me brave for calling her out and saying they’re too scared to do it themselves just proves the other points. it’s a shame, but I can’t pretend it’s not happening anymore.

International Playboy || Jeon Jungkook

Jeon Jungkook was someone nobody really understood. Everybody wanted to be with him, and nobody knew why. There wasn’t like there was anything good that came out of it. All of his old relationships were the exact same, it’s been that way since high school when you first met him. He would date the girl for a few weeks, and then break up with her. That was it.

Girls were attracted to the bad boy vibe he gave off. There was something about him that every girl wanted to tame, but none could. It didn’t matter how many hearts he broke, or what the girls said about him because in the end they would all have dated him again if they had the chance. And that was what made you so different.

After being his friend for three years, not once had you dated him or been in a romantic relationship with him.

Everyone was jealous of you, because you were the only girl he actively hung out with that he wasn’t dating at the time. Jungkook and you had become friends in high school and ended up going to the same college, and here you two were. You would watch him date several girls, and every time you would get jealous.

Sure, they thought that you being his friend was unfair. They thought that it wasn’t fair that you got to hang out with him all the time, apparently Jeon Jungkook was an object that was meant to be shared between everyone, and you weren’t allowed to even think about being close to him.

You didn’t like that idea. You didn’t like the whole bad boy vibe, you didn’t like the fact that he went around and broke the hearts of innocent girls, you didn’t like that he looked at everyone else that way except you. It was like there was something about you that just wasn’t appealing to him.

It hurt to know that, but you never said anything. You would never have traded being Jungkook’s friend for anything. Just being able to hang out with him and talk to him was good enough for you. It was torturous, but it was worth it. Jungkook had become someone he wasn’t, and you were the only one who got to see the real Jungkook.

When it was just the two of you hanging out in your dorm at night, he would tell you about his fears, his insecurities, his problems. The two of you would lay in bed and just talk for hours, nothing romantic or sexual about it. You would sometimes fall asleep and he would drape a blanket over you before making a bed on the floor and falling asleep. It was things like that that made you fall for your best friend.

Jungkook was someone nobody understood, except you.

Astrological Counseling based on Your Most Afflicted Planet

For those of you still learning, afflicted means that a planet is receiving hard aspects. For example, if your Uranus has squares, a quincunx, semi-squares, and an opposition to it, this is afflicted.

Moon: You have to experience your emotions fully and acknowledge each hard aspect and how it plays out in your life. Use your moon sign to express your feelings. Exhale all the times you’ve been hurt and nurture your inner child without letting it come out as immaturity. Inhale the love of the universe and visualize it wrapping around your soul.

Sun: You’ve been made to feel inadequate or that you don’t matter. Build yourself up from within, pursue creative projects when you are all by yourself so you have no concern for others’ criticisms. You can even literally stand in the warmth of the sun and visualize your self-esteem building. Exhale all your moments of embarrassment and inhale an acceptance that many things weren’t as big of a deal as you made them out to be.

Mercury: Realize that all the times you were made to feel dumb were just because those around you didn’t understand the way your mind works. Keep your intellect sharp by challenging yourself to read stimulating information, do word games, anagrams, Sudoku, puzzles, math equations, and logic exercises to create new mental pathways. Spread your ideas to those who listen, brush off those who don’t. Every time you get an idea, write it down so that it doesn’t slip away. Don’t cling to a hope that your thoughts and ideas will be recognized, the universe appreciates you even if that novel of yours hardly sells any copies. It is worth it to put your projects out there.

Venus: Realize that current beauty standards are based in perversion. You are a goddess full of grace if you choose to find it and embrace it. Your femininity could have been wounded by trauma or just having been made to feel like you don’t fit what women are expected to be. You can break free from gender norms and find yourself. Release guilt and allow yourself to experience pleasure. In a man’s chart where Venus is afflicted, the way he perceives women is tainted by all the times that women lied to him or manipulated him. He must learn to not project his hurt onto women.

Mars: You feel like you’ve had to fight all your life. Others may not give you a break but you can give yourself a break. Make time in your day to release anger thru physical activity, exhaling frustrations, going into nature to inhale peace. You are exhausted because this world expects you to be full of drive and ambition. Realize that aspiring to excel might not actually bring you fulfillment. You may always feel the need to do more, but release expectations, worry less about accomplishment and more about health. Allow yourself to get more than enough rest, this competitive world is not the way humans are meant to live.

Jupiter: Your capacity to have “abundance mindset” has been squashed by all the times you had to ration your resources. You can learn healthy indulgences and be reasonable about cutting down on what is unnecessary. You are hesitant to be generous because you have experienced not having enough. When you receive positive aspects transiting your natal Jupiter, you’ll be able to lighten up (I can tell you when these happen)! Gaining more knowledge hasn’t happened as well as you’d like. Jupiter afflicted makes it difficult to have an optimistic disposition but you can choose to find light in many situations.

Saturn: You feel like this world is constantly beating you down and you rarely get cut slack. Use this to find compassion for those who are struggling and learn to be lenient with them, realizing that they may not have as great capabilities as you do. You’re tempted to judge others because you had people treat you harshly and now you feel frustrated at those who take it easy. You feel resentment towards people who don’t realize the same things you’re aware of. You can find the balance between diplomacy and being realistic, despite your tendency to point the finger at peoples’ faults. You’ve had to work hard and you subconsciously dump your hardships on others whom you think had less strife than you. Find the lightness in your heart, consider all angles of a situation instead of coming down on someone else. Work thru your inner angst, allow yourself to feel what you have suppressed.

Uranus: Chaos has brewed inside you because you didn’t get the chance to experience your wild side in a healthy way. You were taught that stepping out of line would get you in trouble, so you felt like you had no choice but to obey, even when the rules felt unnecessary to you or when the leaders were controlling you out of their ego instead of based on what is best for everyone. An example of this is if a child is taught to go along with what parents say, not question and not talk back, these children grow up with very little self-worth and incompetency at thinking for themselves. Remind yourself that questioning and rebelling doesn’t make you disrespectful, it makes you a free thinker. In your adult life you feel compelled to do crazy things because of how boxed in you were before, and you have the choice to be wise about letting out your Uranian nature and finding healthy outlets.

Neptune: Life circumstances have prohibited you from fully experiencing your connection to the divine. Having to act practically without getting the chance to develop your intuition has dimmed your soul. You feel like something is missing in your life but you’re not sure what. It is possible that you went thru a phase where you were seeking your next high, to lose yourself in altered consciousness out of your overwhelm of the real world pounding on you. Make time to develop your soul, attending an organized retreat would be beneficial to you. Spend time in nature, feeling how the dirt between your toes connects you up to the sky. Silence your mind while holding stones and allow yourself to slip into other dimensions. Hypnotism would be therapeutic for you. You can discover your connection to spirituality by learning to let life be as it is, then opening yourself to the vastness of the unknown. Meditate on that concept alone.

Pluto: The times you had your power taken away from you has built up inside you as a compulsion to make others feel less powerful. You dominate conversations and like to psychoanalyze others. Realize that just because you may have studied psychology does not mean you are correct about the motivations behind someone’s actions. People aren’t as manipulative as you may project them to be. Learn to be gentler about what you perceive to be someone’s faults. You can be the Phoenix rising from the ashes if you choose to be.

We keep behind close doors

Everytime I see you I die a little more

Stolen moments that we steal as the curtain falls

It’ll never be enough

“Y/N, I’m going to be really clear here. You’re becoming an international recognised model and you have to focus on your career. I think you need to stop seeing Tom.” Her manager blurted out, making the poor girl choke on her drink. Of course, it had to be something THIS big to have Y/N’s manager take her on a lunch date.

“What? Why? No way! I’m not leaving him. I love him! I… I refuse to keep modeling if he’s not with me.” She fights back, sounding confused and desperate.

Why’d she have to stop seeing her boyfriend? They only had been dating for three and a half months, they loved each other. Both had agreed on keeping it as a secret for a while, so no one knew except for their closest friends, and of course, their managers. But why did they decide they had to break up? What would Tom say? Was it his idea? Little did Y/N know that, on the other side of the restaurant, Tom and his manager argued on wether or not Tom’s manager knew what was best for him.

SO LET’S TALK “WHO’S THE TRAITOR” SOME MORE

If you’ve never read my initial theory post, please do yourself a favor and check that shit out. It is a foundation for the theory that, regrettably, was missing a lot of information that I wasn’t able to get to until I was able to do a reread of the series, plus I wanted to wait for the series to develop a little further. The original post was made right after “Deku vs Kacchan 2” was released, so we’ve had about 30 chapters of development. You might be wondering how on earth 3k words isn’t enough to make my point the first time, but here I am yet again!

I might sound crazy, but believe me when I say… I am the MOST serious.

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader

Warnings: language, fluff, it’s an innocent lil epilogue

A/N: Sorry I get so cheesy in this space. Thank you to the people who encouraged me along the way, most of you total strangers who didn’t need to stop and take time out to do so, but did it anyway because you’re good people. Thanks to the other writers who sympathized with and cheered for me, I adore you. This is dedicated to you empathetic, beautiful people.

a mini masterpost (if you will) to thank you for 150 followers!! [edit: at the time of posting i have 191 followers omg!!] y’all are the sweetest :) also, thank you for the request @glitteratti !!

01. handwriting (at least for me) makes or breaks a spread

i’ve always found that if my handwriting looks nice and neat, i like the spread so much better regardless of whether it matches/has a theme/whatever. i would say take the most amount of time on your handwriting and maybe you’ll feel more proud of the spread?? idk that’s what works for me lol!

02. don’t worry about making sure you have a theme

ok real talk my bujo spreads literally never have a theme everything is always a riot of color and i just paste/tape/glue/write whatever i feel like into the margins on the sides. i think there seems to be pressure to make sure your spread is super color coded with perfect brush lettering and washi tape that perfectly matches your ink color and tbh those are nice and if that’s ya thing great!! but to me they’ve always seemed unattainable and i never strive for that

03. fill it with what you like!! do what you’re feelin’

it’s your bullet journal. no one else can or should tell you how to create it as it is a representation of yourself (and i’m not trying to do that in this post i’m just offering what works for me!! what works for another studyblr will be completely different). example: i’ve been really into star trek the past few weeks and consequently, my spreads have been full of star trek lmao because right now it’s making me happy!! plus i’ll love to look back one day and remember this feeling and to me my bullet journal is like a low maintenance diary bc u can literally do anything you want with it

04. don’t be afraid to break your own traditions

i remember thinking at the beginning of my bujo journey that everything had to be perfect and each month i had to create my habit tracker exactly the same and doing one thing differently would stress me out and like,, no! my main advice is do whatever you’re feeling and don’t compare it to others in the community (and i know people have some amazing bullet journals so it’s hard not to compare) but in the end what’s right for them may not be right for u!!

05. update it every night before you go to bed!!

because the request was about remembering to keep it up! tbh i don’t do this as often as i should but one of my daily habit tracker things is “prepared for the next day” and i only check this off if, at the end of the day, my bujo is updated and ready, my lunch is made, my clothes are laid out, and i’m prepared for the day ahead of me and the only reason i ever am prepared is because i’m so vain that i want to fill in all the little circles and cross every item on my list and tbh trying to keep everything organized and neat and that satisfaction of being able to cross something off my to do list is the only reason my bujo functions for me lmao (if anyone is interested my other habit tracker categories are productive (which i only check off if i finished all my to dos), play with my dogs, and duolingo!)

06. when designing your spreads, don’t have a reference image open!

imo this messes with my creativity. if i try to copy someone else’s spread i get frustrated and i always feel like it looks really bad compared to theirs (which is a bad mentality anyway bc u should never compare your work, least of all your creative expression, to another’s like this). however, to clarify, i think taking inspiration from people is a great thing!! i love to look at other people’s bujos and try to incorporate things they’ve done but i don’t think it’s respectful or helpful to copy someone’s style exactly. (also if anyone is interested i could make a lil post about people with great bullet journals?? or maybe i could do bullet journal compliments???? does anyone want this lol i’m just typing as i’m thinking but lmk if i should do bujo compliments!!) also @studyrose ‘s bullet journal is probably my favorite hers are always beautiful and i get a lot of my ideas from her so u should check it out :)

07. maybe make an aesthetics tag?

i have a tag #aesthetic (feel free to check it out!!) of images i reblog (mostly art and photography) that i can look back thru and print out to glue into my bullet journal! it’s super helpful when i don’t have any magazines to clip. i also have an #art tag on my fandom sideblogs (i’m such a nerd i can’t believe i have more than one lamoamo) and i frequently print fanart from them as well!! (just make sure to credit the artist if u post a pic involving their art i used to not do this but then i realized how disrespectful it is so i make sure to tag the artist now lol)

08. it’s okay to take a break from bullet journaling, especially if it’s becoming more of a hindrance than a help. it’s meant to help you organize your life and if it becomes more of a hassle than it’s worth, just take a break. reset. come back for the next monthly spread better than ever.

i have done this many times in the past and you don’t owe an explanation to anyone. it’s meant for you.

hope y’all enjoyed this!! again, lmk (shoot me an ask/message me/talk to me!!) if anyone would be interested in bujo compliments :) thank u for being amazing if you’re reading this i love u!!

xoxo sarah

I have been grading math homework and quizzes for the last couple of years, working with a number of professors and graduate teaching assistants, and I see students making the same mistakes over and over again. I hear the same complaints from other professors, GTAs, and graders. I thought I would throw out some advice that might help your grades, or at least endear you to the person in charge of them.

I think these tips will apply to any class in which you turn in problem sets on a regular basis, and you might be able to apply some of this to things like lab reports, but I am mostly focusing on undergrad-level math, computational or proof-based. I hope it goes without saying, but first and foremost you should do what your instructor, not a stranger on the internet, tells you to do.

So, if I am grading your homework, here is what I would like you to do:

  • MAKE MY LIFE EASY

The harder it is for me to grade, the less points you are likely to get. That’s not just me being spiteful - if I don’t see your answer to a problem, I can’t read your handwriting, or I don’t understand how you got from point a to point z, it is going to be very hard for me to award you points. I try to be generous, as do most people I know, but we can only do so much for you.

  • KNOW YOUR MISSION

What are you trying to accomplish in these assignments? How do you do that?

 - You are trying to practice the course material to get a better understanding. So, do all the work assigned to you, and don’t just copy it from your friend (we can tell) or a solutions manual (we can really tell)

- You are trying to communicate to me (and to yourself!) that you understand the course material. I don’t need to see all of your scratch work or first attempts, but I need to see how you arrived at your answer, and I need to know what your answer is. I urge you to type or neatly rewrite your finished assignment before you turn it in. Please highlight your answers with a box, a circle, or some other indicator. If you’re writing a proof, start with “Proof:” and end with “QED” or a tombstone (or even a smiley face!) so I know what I’m supposed to be evaluating. Your work should be readable - in terms of handwriting, spacing, and yes, even grammar. It should follow a logical order so that someone reading it can understand what you’re doing. Explain your steps if you think you need to. And if a problem tells you to use a certain formula, theorem, or method, use it.

 - You are trying to learn from your mistakes. Of course this varies from grader to grader, but in general, we spend a lot of time giving you feedback, so please write something!!! I can’t help you if you don’t even attempt a problem. And for what it’s worth, while this isn’t true of everyone, a lot of people (myself included) will almost never give 0 points if it looks like an honest attempt has been made. If you have no idea what to do with a problem and it’s the last minute, it might be worth it to write down what you’re confused about - “I thought I could do this using integration by parts, but I couldn’t work out what to use for u and dv” is something I can respond to, and hopefully give you some help!

  • BE AWARE: STYLE COUNTS

Most of the time, I can and will take off points for style. Some instructors have a certain number of points worked into their grading rubric for style. Here are some suggestions!

 - Staple your f&*%ing homework!!!!! No, do not fold over the corner. Don’t tape several sheets together. Staple it. With an actual, metal staple.
–> It never hurts to write your name on every page, and number your pages as well. Just make it as hard as possible for me to lose a page.

 - Do not turn in paper with those spiral-bound frills on the edge. Most spiral-bound notebooks are perforated, so tear along the perforation! Otherwise, please use printer paper, loose-leaf binder paper, or really anything else…

 - …anything except neon pink paper. I’m only saying this because it’s in my grading pile right now and I am dreading it. Use conventional paper!!!! I don’t care much about the ruling, but it should be white, or very nearly. Yellow legal pad paper is pushing it. Engineering paper is fine.

 - And on that note, please write in a conventional color. Black, blue, gray, or very near those colors. It should be dark. It should be readable. It should definitely not be red. I personally don’t grade in red, but a lot of people do, and regardless of that, it is hard to read large chunks of red text.

 - I know I said this already, but: rewrite your homework. Seriously. If it is anything but straightforward computations, it is going to get messy, and fast. Do your scratch work on a separate sheet of paper, and then write up a final copy with everything you want me to see, and nothing you don’t.
–> If you can, type it! Here is a post by @munirastudies to get you started with LaTeX, which is very useful for typesetting technical and symbol-heavy text. The benefit to typing your homework is that it’s easy to go back and edit!

That’s all I have for now! Please feel free to message me with any questions or suggestions you have! I hope this is helpful to someone :)

edit: here are suggestions other people added! [x]

An open letter to recast owners

I’ve been debating with myself wether or not to post this because I’ve been away from the hobby and this ‘discourse’ for some time doing my own thing and generally trying to get my shit together but then someone had the bright idea of posting that delightful list and attempting to brand myself and some 700 people as bullies and stalkers. Not cool bro, not cool at all.

So this is my open letter to the recast owning community, particularly those like the admins of the above blog. I always welcome discourse, if you want to discuss any of this or any of my points then I more than welcome you to my inbox, it’s always open.

Greetings fellow doll lover,
The thing I really, really want to emphasise above all else is that we get it. We really do.
Who wouldn’t want something they’ve been wanting forever and a day for cheaper than usual? It’s only natural and we’re a generation (or two) of people who’ve been brought up to search for a bargain every chance we can. So we understand the temptation. But the issue of recasts vs supporting artists goes much deeper than just the price tag and that seems to be where the disconnect is, at least from what I’ve observed the last few years.

Allow me to make an analogy;
Imagine, if you will, that you’ve got yourself a job cleaning floors, be it for a bit of money on the side or your sole source of income.
You’ve got yourself all set up, you’ve bought the brooms, the dustpan, the garbage can and bags. Not to mention you bought all those cleaning chemicals which weren’t cheap at all. So you’ve come up with how much you charge your clients based on the cost of your equipment and you manage to squeeze in a little on top to cover your labour and time. You come up with what you consider a very fair price considering the time, effort and cost involved in your work. Sounds fair right?
Now imagine you’re cleaning a floor, you’ve done a good job, you could eat off that floor. Some guy comes along, tells you what a good job you’ve done and even picks up a piece of rubbish for you but the second your boss appears to pay you what you’re owed this other guy, we’ll call him Mr R quickly shows him the garbage can, telling your boss at length what a wonderful job has been done and he’ll only charge half of what you where asking for.
Oh! Well your boss loves that idea, a perfect floor for half the price! Who wouldn’t jump on that deal! So MR R leaves with the money, having done a tiny amount of work compared to you. You’re left out of pocket and with nothing to show for all that time and effort your poured into your work.
How would that make you feel? Maybe you could let it slide if it happened just once but imagine that Mr R keeps coming back, he’s got the money now to follow you to your next job and the one after that and so on after all.

I’m hoping it’s obvious where I’m going with this… on a simplified level that’s exactly what recasters do. They make money off the hard work, skill and all that time an artist pours into making dolls and deny those same artists potential sales by poaching customers with an artists own work. I don’t know about you but I’d find that so incredibly beyond galling if it were me in the artists shoes. And if your work is constantly being sold out from under you, why bother to continue?

That is the crux of why recasts are so harmful to the BJD world. Creating a BJD from scratch takes skill (something which might have entailed formal education and the debts that go with it), a hell of a lot of time and development and a lot of money sunk into it along the way for equipment and materials. Why should anyone sink all that into making dolls when someone else is going to come along, make the minimum amount of effort and make money off that artists hard work?
And if artists decide they’ve had enough and it’s just not worth their time to make dolls anymore then we ALL loose out. Even recast owners. Because what’s there going to be to recast if dolls aren’t being made in the first place?

There’s been many good posts made about the costs of producing dolls and I encourage and implore you to go look for them. Do some research on what’s involved in producing the dolls we all enjoy and you’ll come away informed and hopefully with a good sense of what it’s like for the artists who’s work we all covet.

So much of the narrative being used by blogs like bjdrecastpositive and the people behind them relies upon is attempting to paint anyone who disagrees with them as bullies and stalkers.  I can’t speak for all 700 people singled out on that list they complied but I know that I’ve never stalked anyone in my life (who even has the time or energy for that?) and I certainly don’t bully anyone. Being vocal and disagreeing with something someone posts publically is not bullying.
And once again I implore you to use your own common sense and take that list and posts like it for what it is; an attempt to shift focus away from the real issues at hand.
There’s some very impressive mental gymnastics going on (which we’ve seen before) comparing recast owners and their side of the ‘debate’ to the struggles of the black community or the LGBTQA community among others, not to mention all that intersectionality but and I really must emphasise this as hard as it may be to hear it; recasts owners are not the victims, they are not being persecuted or discriminated against. That isn’t what being disagreed with in a debate is. That isn’t what having your decision to buy a fake doll called into question is.
And a decision is exactly what recast ownership is, with the exception of course of the poor people who get scammed, it is a conscious decision to put luxury wants above all else, regardless of whom it hurts. How ever someone wants to justify it to themselves on no level does deciding to buy a fake doll and having that called into question compare to being persecuted for your skin colour or sexuality. And I honestly cannot believe that’s even something I have to explain. The mind boggles.

Like I said at the beginning. I get it, I really do. None of us are pretending to be perfect or to have never made questionable decisions but the point is that we are all capable of looking back on our decisions, realising it was a mistake and doing the right thing. Be that by changing our ways or by making amends. Even some of the big name doll companies have made such journeys, Dollzone started out as a recast company, they decided to change their ways and they’ve since flourished into what they are today, likewise Fairyland fucked up pretty big by copying the designs for their steampunk weapons a year or two back but they realised they’d messed up and made it right. We are all constantly growing and learning. It’s part of life and learning from our mistakes is a fundamental thing we all share.

All I’m asking with this letter is to encourage recast owners and supporters to simply put themselves in someone else’s shoes, to think about the implications of buying fake dolls and to have a good hard look at their decision to do so. There are so many alternatives, be it layaways or this awesome list of dolls under $300 that @bluekitsune put together. The alternatives are there, you just need to look for them.

Character study: Kageyama Ritsu

I´ve heard many of my friends say that they find it difficult to understand Ritsu’s actions in Mob Psycho 100 anime. I agree that he is a controversial character with complex feelings but as I think I can relate to him a lot, I figured I’d do a character study on him. Enjoy and feel free to come to talk to me about our boys!

“To me, my brother is the standard of the world.”

This is the basis of Ritsu´s worldview. He looks up to Mob in everything and tries his best to copy him. He’s quiet and modest like Mob and doesn’t want to stand out in any way. But one thing he lacks that Mob has: psychic powers.

Now, just to make it clear: Ritsu is not obsessed, edgy, emo or mean. He is caring, but he is also lonely and deeply hurt. This is my main view on him.

Ritsu has high standards for a normal person with no chances to attain physic powers. He’s also very hard on himself. He’s not proud of himself even when he’s so hard-working and great at school, just because he lacks one thing he thinks is fundamental. I think that actually, Ritsu has very low self-esteem. It shows when he can’t forgive himself for that one imperfection and he isn’t content with just being himself. So when everyone around him showers him with praise of how perfect and good he is, it just fuels his self-hatred because “no, you’ve got it all wrong; I’m far from being even decent.”

Then the student council’s vice president Tokugawa tells him in traffic lights “don’t try to act like your brother.” I could interpret the expression on Ritsu’s face only as one of dread. He probably felt like he had got caught: his demand of perfection for himself also includes that no one could know about his struggles.

The other thing besides his high demands towards himself that defines Ritsu is his loneliness. It’s shown that despite his popularity at school, he has no close friends. His relationship with Mob is also shaped by Ritsu’s fears and self-esteem issues and is far from being truthful. Sadly, Mob, who is unable to read people properly, have no idea what’s going on with his brother until episode 8.

Ritsu still loves his brother. Ritsu doesn’t care about himself but he does care about Mob and he uses a lot of his energy making sure Mob is happy. It’s easier to focus your love on somebody else when you don’t love yourself. Ritsu doesn’t give it at all to himself so his all is directed to Mob which makes it sometimes a little extreme. For example, Ritsu starts The Big Cleanup on accident when he wanted to make the school a better place for Mob.

Ritsu claims that he doesn’t love his brother in order to cover up his lack of self-esteem. He tells himself that he’s making sure that Mob is happy because "he fears what would happen if he would upset Mob in any way.” He goes so far as to tell Mob that “the buddy-buddy brothers act ends now.” But Mob is right when he answers “I can tell. That’s a lie”, because it truly is a lie, which is revealed at a moment later when Ritsu rushes to stop Koyama from hurting Mob. He´s in tears and that´s not a face of someone who doesn´t care at all.

Ritsu is not a bad person. Ritsu step up for the other Awakening Lab kids in order to save them and got himself beaten. Maybe it was his “duty” because he is the only one in that group with psychic powers suited for fighting, but I think otherwise. I’m actually very concerned of how little he values himself.

The controversy with Mob and the fight with Koyama after that changed Ritsu a lot. He snapped out of his own, corrupt mindset and become a person he truly is. In episode 9 he is way more friendly with the Awakening Lab kids, complimenting them and cooperating with them.

So what explains Ritsu´s actions towards Onigawara and his earlier violence? I could say that before attaining his powers, his struggling has come near a breaking point. During that time Ritsu’s pain exceeds his kindness. He feels alone and he’s hurt and to be honest I’m not surprised when he takes it out on others when giving the chance. He doesn’t try to stop Kamuro from blackmailing people because Ritsu is so tired of his own suffering but what he actually ends up doing by that is to hurt himself more. It’s like he punishes himself of not being perfect in his own standards by baring “the truth” to others, too. Which means rebelling against the “perfect boy” he’s been labelled with. He’s tired of hiding his true feelings so he takes it out finally. And what comes out is violence because that is what he feels inside: pain. It feels good in a way, to be finally free, so he continues. No one cares about him so he’s not going to care about his victims, either. “I’ve lost my limits. I have obtained a loss”, means just that.

But the good person Ritsu is always there, too. Ritsu feels good using violence but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t feel guilty, too. Ritsu’s powers awaken when he had passed the breaking point in his mental stress (just like Claw tried to forcefully awaken psychic powers in people using extreme mental and physical stress, i.e. pain). After that, his corruption and guilt only fuels them. One would have thought Ritsu’s issues would have been solved when he´d attain psychic powers, but that’s not true. In this point he is in so deep he’s unable to feel good even when his lifelong dream has come true. In his mind he is still far from being decent because of what he had done. Actually he doesn’t want to be this kind of person who hurts others. So he doesn’t continue when Kamuro breaks down.

By the way, I´m not a fan of “Ritsu hates Reigen” belief. He’s cold towards the man, yes, but that´s because he suspects that Reigen is only using Mob. He’s cold towards Mezato, too, when she wants to write an article about Mob. There is nothing hostile behind it, only suspiciousness.

Ritsu is a loving little brother and I think he would make a very loyal and good friend. A friend is what he needs the most, after all. (That’s why I’m very excited about Shou!) Plus I´m loving the fact that his hobby is writing diary byeee

Lastly, we need to remember that Ritsu is only 13. He’s just a kid and he’s bound to make mistakes while figuring out how the world works. He’s at the age where he’s starting to form a personality so of course it’s still fluid and incomplete. His journey to become himself is only at the beginning.

“I don’t think the Downworlders are going to go for this, Alexander.”

“We’ll never know if we don’t try,” Alec reasoned.

Magnus glanced at Clary. “How do we know this rune even works?”

Clary squirmed. “Well…we don’t. I haven’t tested it yet.”

“So you want me to suggest to the Downworld to side with the Clave, who have a habit of lying to us,” Alec knew Magnus still wasn’t completely over the lie about the Soul Sword and, honestly, Alec didn’t blame him. He would give Magnus all the time he needed, “and use a rune that we don’t even know what it does.”

“I know what it does,” Clary protested. “It just hasn’t been tested yet.”

“An untested rune, then,” Magnus conceded. “I don’t think I can ask my people to do that.”

“What if we tested it out?” Alec suggested. “Me and you. Clary can draw it and we’ll see if it works.”

“Actually, you have to draw it on each other,” Clary said. “Don’t ask me how I know, I just…do.”

Day 3: Marlind (Knowledge/Nature)

I could be everywhere or anywhere the wind might take my soul,
I could be anything or anyone you’d ever wanna know.
           -Your Love – Austin Plaine

As soon as Sorey entered the town gates, the aroma of fresh trees and foliage filled his senses and he was suddenly aware of the surroundings which he had entered. Not only was it full of life with the many students, scholars, and traders alike, but the nature surrounding the town had absolutely grown in size. Life prospered within the trees and branches that now arched over the small scholar town, each one nearly emanating a large amount of blessings from each of its branches.

Sorey carefully walked through the crowds, as it was nearly noon, and found a nearby porch that had a rail and looked over a bit of the town. Prior to entering the town gates, Mikleo was summoned by quite a chatty scholar, and Sorey clearly saw how conflicted Mikleo felt in that moment, watching him as Mikleo’s eyes shifted from the scholar and back to Sorey. Sorey just smiled and waved to Mikleo, an indication that he would go ahead and meet him later, to which Mikleo glanced back and nodded apologetically.

Leaning against the rail, Sorey began to scan the busy crowds and started to notice just how much larger Marlind had become.

Well, formerly Marlind, that is. It was definitely the same town, with very different aspects, just as he had seen from his previous visit in Ladylake. He had grown accustomed to the fact that every town he would encounter on this journey would be drastically different from what he remembered, but he still couldn’t help but compare the two sights he had seen from each city or location they travelled to.

It comforted Sorey, though, that all of the places they have been to always still held a sense of familiarity. While this former Marlind looked much more busy than he remembered, the nature focus that primarily defined the town was still strong, if not stronger, than he had ever seen before. The great tree that he once thought was large  during his Shepherd journeys had now grown much taller in size, its branches covering Marlind in a protective dome while still letting most natural light seep through its foliage. Many other smaller trees with different colored leaves also contributed to the great tree, creating a vast array of color above the town. While it covered some part of the sky, it did not by all means completely block it out. The trees had a way of intertwining naturally and still allowing sunlight and the blue sky peek through its leaves.

It took Sorey’s breath away. How the blessings in the town overflowed with such positive prosperity was beyond him and it slowly began to dawn on him that this was indeed a result of his long slumber.

In the corner of his eye, he could see Mikleo making slow progress through the crowds, but he was stopped almost every minute by another passing scholar. He spoke to each person with confidence; it could be seen in the way he carried himself with broad shoulders straightened, head held high but not in superiority, and eyes filled with understanding and attention to each individual he spoke to. The way which Mikleo kept carrying on conversations and never refusing to talk to anyone was a feat which Sorey knew he developed over the years of his absence.

Sorey smiled; he felt proud as he watched Mikleo go about his work, nodding to each individual and responding as if it were second nature to him. It made him realize that in the years of his absence, Mikleo was hard at work writing multiple books; travelling everywhere and taking in the sights. Eventually, he became a well-known seraph that travelled Glenwood frequently and was sought after many scholars and travellers alike who wished to know more about the different theories and discoveries which Mikleo so often divulged in inside his books.

However, as impressive as Mikleo’s repertoire had become, it wasn’t the knowledge or work ethic which made Sorey proud; it was the fact that Mikleo was able to move forward without him, was able to live life to the best of his abilities, and eventually find pleasure and gratification in the activities he loved to do the most. It was the very same activity and hobby that Sorey loved to do, and he admired Mikleo for being able to pursue it all the same, as it must have bittersweetly reminded him of Sorey countless times.

Mikleo’s determination and ability to endure and stay strong were feats which he was amazed by. Smiling, he propped his arm on the railing and rested his head on it, staring at Mikleo who was now walking towards his direction and did a small wave in indication that he noticed Sorey. Sorey waved back. He learned from Lailah during their previous visit at Ladylake that Mikleo had the full intention of writing the books and exploring the world on Sorey’s behalf so that when he woke up, he would have the resources necessary to catch up on what the current world was like. When Sorey asked her what other people thought of his books, she merely smiled and looked directly into his eyes.

“The people call Mikleo’s writings a reflection of an inspiration; most often, his words were written in a way that felt genuine, full of life, and in positive anticipation for someone he seemed to be waiting on.” She placed a hand on Sorey’s shoulder and squeezed it gently. “Each book was in dedication towards you, Sorey, and he made sure everyone who laid eyes on his writings knew.”

Sorey was at first a bit embarrassed upon hearing that, but after reading a couple of volumes of Mikleo’s books, he began to feel emotions of gratitude towards everything Mikleo worked for, just for him.

Looking at Mikleo now and how far he’s accomplished made his heart well up in a way he couldn’t quite understand; all he knew was that he was so very grateful towards everything Mikleo had done.

As Mikleo began to climb the small set of stairs which led to the small landing that Sorey stood on, Sorey chuckled.

“Mr. Popular, are we?”

Mikleo took his spot next to Sorey and rolled his eyes. “This isn’t even the half of it. I love visiting this town, but there’s always a downside to doing so as well.” He nodded towards Sorey. “What do you think of this town so far?”

Sorey looked up towards the intertwining branches above him and he smiled. “Big. Crowded. Kind of intimidating. But also very warm, compassionate, and well-intentioned.”

Mikleo looked up as well towards the intertwining branches. “Rohan’s done amazing work as Lord of the Land to keep the tree from blocking out the sky completely. Figuring out the path of a constantly growing tree and naturally guiding it to not block out the sky is an amazing feat that I could never fathom.”

“It must be the effects of his blessing that you’re feeling,” he continued. “Rohan has always been a kind seraph and many of the students, scholars, and other people alike are just as so. It’s very rare that any scholars are impossibly competitive; you have friendly rivalries, but nothing too serious, which makes learning much more cultivated and developed for many young individuals here.”

Mikleo looked up at Sorey, who was still in awe by the amount of trees in the area. “It’s amazing.”

Mikleo laughed. “You know what’s also amazing? The library that’s been built next to Dumnonia Museum.”

Sorey’s eyes lit up. “There’s a library?! We have to go, Mikleo.”

Mikleo at first looked doubtful. “Hm, I’m not sure if that’s a great idea.”

Sorey began to laugh. “What, afraid that I actually know more content and will have read most of the books in the library already?”

At this, Mikleo just rolled his eyes and gave a small playful smack to Sorey. “Please, coming from the person who’s slept more than half his life.”

The tone in Mikleo’s voice was something that Sorey couldn’t pass. Slowly, he looked at Mikleo and smirked.

“Is that a competition I hear?”

Mikleo’s head snapped in Sorey’s direction and he squinted his eyes towards him, a smile forming on his lips.

“You’re on.”

Mikleo turned around quickly to go in the direction of the library, but was suddenly stopped by Sorey, who grabbed his hand just before he took a step down. He raised his eyebrow inquisitively, staring at Sorey who was looking at the city.

Slowly, Sorey turned to Mikleo and he smiled. “I just wanted to say thank you.”

Mikleo was silent at first, processing Sorey’s words, before he shook his head and smiled.

“Idiot. No need to thank me for something I wanted to do.”

They were silent for awhile after Mikleo’s comment, hands linked and eventually intertwining. The wind around the town began to pick up, with it Sorey’s ponytail and the capes which hung behind Mikleo’s back. It continued gently for awhile, picking up these items which served as representatives of small changes they underwent through the years; yet they themselves had not changed, despite everything else around them. Sorey grinned and squeezed Mikleo’s hand, suddenly feeling more bold than usual.

“Were you referring to me in the dedications that are in each of your books?”

Mikleo stared at Sorey for a moment and nodded. “Each and every single one of them. No individual picked up a copy without that one page being inside it.”

Sorey tilted his head to the side, feigning innocence as he asked his next question. “Did anyone actually ask why you were so attached to this Shepherd, I wonder?”

Mikleo quickly picked up on Sorey’s implications and he immediately began to feel flustered. He looked away and began to turn around to start walking down the stairs.

“I-In any case, we should start heading to the library now before it gets too late.”

Sorey laughed as he realized Mikleo was avoiding his question and followed him down the stairs. “Mikleoooo, I just want to hear you say it!”

“Like you’ve ever said it to me recently!”

“What? That I love you? And that your words in your books indirectly tell me each time that you love me too?”

Mikleo sputtered incoherent words and he glanced back at Sorey every once in awhile as he continued to walk forward.

“Y-you can’t just say that so easily…! And if my books already say it to you, then-!”

Sorey shrugged, but his grin began to grow even wider. “Why not? It’s the truth! And come on, I just want to hear you say it out loud without using your books!”

Mikleo just sighed. “O-one day, but today’s not that day, okay!”

Sorey nodded and lightly chuckled. “Okay. I’ll just take you holding my hand in public as one step forward out of your shell, at least.”

Mikleo just rolled his eyes, but didn’t deny that he did, in fact, enjoyed holding Sorey’s hand in public and squeezed it a little harder as they walked in the direction of the library.

Sorey concluded that Mikleo was a great scholar, but indeed needed lessons in breaking out of his shell in some contexts.

He was still proud of him nonetheless.

I don’t wanna be anything other than your love.

FINALLY! The next one-shot in the klance YouTuber AU! The next thing I post probably won’t be a part of this AU since I work on a ton of stuff and I still need to finish a lot of it, but I wanted to post this today as a thank you!

I’m not going to link the other one-shots, just know that from now on these one-shots will be tagged with ‘klance youtuber au’ on my tumblr. The series can be found on my AO3 here.

This one is how Lance and Keith first met!! Most of the one-shots in this AU are gonna be entirely fluff, unlike the last one, but who knows? I’ll probably find a way to incorporate more angst at some point. I hope you guys like it!

Keith hated crowds, and he knew he always would. The feeling of being in a space that wasn’t quite big enough for all the people in it made him extremely uncomfortable, especially since he always felt everyone was staring at him, for some reason. Talking to one person he didn’t know was bad enough, but being surrounded by them? A nightmare, as far as he was concerned.

Stupid VidCon. Stupid Shiro and his stupid, stupid YouTube channel. Why would anyone want to document their life on video for an audience, anyway? Sometimes Keith wondered how they were even friends.

And it didn’t help that he was completely, hopelessly, lost. The directions Shiro had given him made absolutely no sense! Apparently he was supposed to ‘look for where Allura’s selling makeup’, but Keith didn’t know who Allura was, much less where she sold her line of 'limited-addition lipsticks.’ The only thing he knew about Allura was that at some point she’d taught Shiro how to successfully do winged eye-liner, and now he wore it all the time.

Keith sighed, and looked back down at the notepad in his hand, with the list of Shiro’s instructions for where to go. They still didn’t help. And, to make matters worse, Keith forgot to look where he was going, and bumped straight into someone else.

Supernatural, No-Homo-Style (You’re welcome, SPN writers)

Okay, listen. I’m not someone who tries to tell other people how to go on with their creative stuff, but this is just – an idea. So the thing is, I understand how terribly hard it can be to write a story without homoerotic undertones. They just – happen, you know. All these parallels and carefully crafted scenery to underline a certain subtext, man, just – I know that feel, bro. All my stories? Never supposed to be Destiel. Dean just comes barking in, screams “I’m queer, dude” and then I just – well, anyway. Not that Dean is queer, of course, why would you ever think that.

So what I want to do is: I want to offer you guys, SPN writers, directors, producers, you name it, a way to no-homo your episodes efficiently so no one can tell you that you want us to ship Destiel because that wouldn’t be true, right, right? And man, I know a lot about bro friendships, I watched The Wild Soccer Bunch when I was ten.

Because I’ve noticed that some people – without any indication in the subtext or even text whatsoever – started picking up extremely on the romantic undertones in Dean and Cas’ relationship specifically in the last two seasons. So I’ve looked into this plot and I just found a few teeny tiny things that were of course completely unintentional but could make some weird lunatics think that this is something the writers actually think of.

So let’s start, shall we? Very important in every bro™ relationship: don’t make the entire plot of a season rest onto the special bond between you and your bro. I know this is an easy mistake to make because let’s face it, Cas is awesome, but some people might read into this and think “Man, if he can resist his strange ‘love’ for Amara by looking at Cas, maybe that means he loves him?” and hahaha, what a crazy thought, right? So yeah, rookie mistake no. 1 but man, that can happen to everyone. Instead, maybe make him have concern for his bro but at the same time not be able to overcome his mind control because of his lo broness with Cas. It’s really easy and then the director doesn’t have to put some suggestive shots into the episode where Amara figures out how much these two bros bro with each other and uses that revelation against them!

Also, speaking of this? I know, heart imagery is great and when you only have a cast of male white dudes it gets hard to portray it without homoerotic undertones, but yeah, it’s still a bad idea to have the main villain hover over the heart of one bro and then get a magical connection to the other bro through this heart. I mean, I get it, keep your friends close and your bros closer, but some people might think that the heart imagery connects to the feeling of love and that would be ludicrous, right?  A good alternative would be to simply scratch this whole plot line. Maybe make Dean doodle some hearts while talking to Amara if you want heart imagery so much because hey, she’s a FEMALE and she’s RIGHT THERE so by every television standard they HAVE to copulate!

Next – the pining and caring for Cas. I mean, is that really necessary? Cas is a big boy. He can take care of himself. And Dean, you should really just listen to Sam when he says that Cas will be okay and you should make the smart choice instead of the heart choice (and there it is, the heart imagery again! I KNOW heart rhymes with smart – but here are a lot of others things that you could have used instead: fart, cart, bard, pop tart – you’re welcome to use them! Let Dean make a fart choice next, guaranteed no homo™ and also fart jokes are awesome and funny and original!)

Why not have Dean have a roll in the hay with Mildred? Man, that woman was badass! But having her insist that Dean was already pining for someone else and watch the sunrise together, an imagery that has been associated with Cas consistently, that just was plain bad writing. I get that you wanted to write you out of a corner because Mildred was coming onto Dean and that it wasn’t supposed to make us think of Cas at all but next time just so the full route and let Dean have his way with the ladies, he loves it because he’s a LADIES man and he loves the LADIES or the fellas I don’t judge wait what Dean shut up!

And all these talk about Cas and Cas and where is he and Cas and Caaaaaaas (shut up Lucifer)? It’s great talk, really, but maybe replace it with a significantly less gay word: BRO! Why care for Cas when Dean can care for his BRO?! There’s no reason against it! And if it’s not necessary for the plot, maybe don’t make Dean talk about his bro at all. You gain precious minutes that you can instead use for the brother bond you value so much! (What, you say, you want to end this co-dependency? DON’T! Then you may have Dean ready to enter a healthy relationship and man, people could think this relationship could be gay, urgh)

Next mistake: the scene in that barn? Don’t get me started. You started so good, SPN writers! You had Dean say a really bro-like thing, “don’t worry, I’ve had worse” - good on you, Dean, that was very manly and very good at ignoring the glaring (and oozing) problem right in front of you. But then of course someone had to turn it around and put this silly “I love you” in there and repeat it. Your script probably just fell into a printer and got copied twice so they thought “ah, heck, now we’ve got to say it twice and make it sound like the first one was specifically for Dean, and let’s throw some suggestive camera angles in there while we’re at it” so maybe next time, I don’t know, try to keep these rogue scripts in check. You don’t want anyone to think that Cas actually loves Dean and only Dean.

And also, I know, bros love bros and they love their quality time with each other, but still, bros don’t just leave the room when they talk to their bro and the phone and then sound suspiciously like they forced themselves to have a completely different conversation when they re-enter the room. And maybe, because you all just love the Sam-and-Dean-codepency have Sam talk, too! Let him interact with his bro! People could think that the fact that Sam has a completely different dynamic with Cas means that Dean’s love for Cas is more than just family and that’s obviously not true *cough* who would think that *cough* Lucifer maybe *cough* and every other villain on the show and a few friends too *cough*

… I’m sorry, I got something stuck in my throat. So anyway, let’s get to the next point: I LOVED that scene in 11x23 where Dean told Cas that they’re such BROS and Cas means so much to them as BROS and I really hoped that means we could have some BRO action in Season 12 but no! Somehow Cas still didn’t feel like he belonged because apparently being a BRO wasn’t enough for him? He still wanted to prove himself to Dean specifically with no talk about Sam? I know, guys, guys, I know you want drama in your show, we all know this, this is SPN, but next time, tone it down a notch. You may just want to have drama where Cas is part of the family as a BRO and everyone accepts that and he too and he doesn’t have to get PERSONAL GIFTS by Dean to maybe show him that he belongs and still not getting it because something is still missing -  because then people might think that this something missing is something absurd like LOVE and not in a platonic way.

Oh and the last thing: 12x23. Boy where do I start. I mean I loved that you had separated them the last episodes (because people may think that they would start to kiss or something like that if you left them alone for a few minutes) but was it really necessary that Dean just stopped functioning as soon as Cas died? He could have instead, I don’t know, have a few pimples that he needs to squeeze and that’s the reason why he couldn’t face Jack with Sam together. I get that this was all great foreshadowing because Sam and Jack do have a weird connection but really, don’t make the mistake to pair Dean off with Cas again and make them look like they share a special connection! Pimples, man, I tell you. They’re almost as original as fart jokes and very heterosexual, trust me, I never had them and I’m as queer as can get.

So please, enjoy this free advice on how to no homo your episodes efficiently because just throwing in a few hook-ups with waitresses now and then just isn’t the FULL no homo experience™ because some weird people still think that Dean could be something like, I don’t know, bisexual, and we all know that bisexuality doesn’t exist and even if it did, Dean couldn’t possible come out at this age because that’s just unrealistic, amirite???

Thank you for listening.

Things one could do with Zexion’s powers

Alternate Title: Why Zexion’s powers are broken as fuck in the right hands

Notes:
This is an exercise in creativity not morality.
Also doesn’t account for probable energy/planning needed to do all this crud.
Also there is admittedly some overlap but not a ton

  1. Do a lot of social experiments
  2. Avoid anyone who annoys me by turning invisible every time they walk by
  3. Avoid people by turning into someone else and giving them false directions
  4. Get out of random things in general by turning invisible and sneaking off
  5. Create an illusion of godzilla and have it rampage through town
  6. Create a bunch of will o wisps and see how many travelers I can lead astray (this is admittedly inspired by the fact that Zexion’s powers are similar to that of Japanese folklore foxes)
  7. Ruin someone’s reputation by pretending to be them
  8. Pull a Noctis and summon a bunch of different weapons to fight with (this idea didn’t come from Noctis, it’s sort of a natural progression from summoning a bunch of the same weapon which we saw in Kh II, speaking of which)
  9. Summon a bunch of the same weapon to fight with
  10. Copy anime fighting moves or just action fighting move in general (like you could totally summon the giga drill from Gurren Lagann)
  11. Create clones of myself to make things like cleaning and homework go faster
  12. Have my clone appear to be attentive during a meeting while I secretly do something else in a spot nearby
  13. Be the best cosplayer ever
  14. Make small changes to my physical appearance for short amounts of time
  15. Talk to multiple people at once (admittedly they probably have to be fairly close in proximity to one another and I would have to able to keep track of multiple conversations at once)
  16. Throw a giant boat at someone
  17. Create cute animals for other people to pet and hold
  18. Bring imaginary creatures to life
  19. Turn into an animal myself and sneak around
  20. Make it seem like some ferocious animals have escaped from the zoo
  21. Make people think a place is legitimately haunted
  22. Open a kick ass haunted house and make a ton of money
  23. Become the best special effects artist ever and make a ton of money
  24. Become the most amazing magician ever and make a ton of money
  25. Cheat on an exam by A. Creating a clone to take the test B. Having the original me stand behind the smartest kid in class while invisible C. Having my clone copy answers from the smartest kid in class
  26. Be the best voice imitator ever
  27. Imitate the voices of people I don’t like and make them say stupid shit
  28. Be the best singer ever because I change my voice to sound like anyone and hit any note
  29. Memorize a piece of music and then pretend to play it on an instrument
  30. Actually learn a piece of music and then use my illusions to make it sound slightly better
  31. Summon a clone and then have a discussion/argument with myself
  32. Mute annoying people (if I can create the illusion of sound I can probably create the illusion of silence)
  33. Reenact entire movie sequences to a T
  34. Bring cartoon characters to life
  35. Make people question whether reality is real or not
  36. Start an urban legend or perpetuate an urban legend
  37. Fake my own death and then show up to my own funeral
  38. Make money and then buy stuff with it (like I said exercise in creativity not morality)
  39. Become the best spy ever
  40. Make an area seem cleaner than it actually is
  41. Sneak into movies
  42. Be the master of pranks
  43. Create the illusion of an army and then storm a place (also works for protests)
  44. Carry around contraband items by making them look like something else
  45. Always pass room inspections
  46. Make yourself seem older or younger than you actually are
  47. Create an imaginary friend that isn’t invisible
  48. Make something appear to spontaneously combust
  49. Start a fight between friends by either pretending to be one of them or doing the whole invisible thing (be invisible, do something, wait for one person to blame the other, repeat until they’re fighting one another)
  50. Throw random glitter and confetti into the air

Edit: Oh forgot one, create 3d models to help visualize what you’re trying to create with an artistic medium (ie you need to draw the dragon you see in your head, make an illusion of the dragon in your head and then draw it)

You liked to live by your aesthetics. You went to used book stores downtown, took polaroids of old buildings, went out of your way to a quaint little coffee shop for the feel of it. After you had gone to the bookshop, it was a habit of yours to go to the coffee shop, buy a warm drink, and read your book at a table near the window. You usually made the trip on a rainy day, for the aesthetic. You used old Polaroids as bookmarks and you wrote comments or thoughts in the margins of your book with a pink pen. The light chatter of background noise was soothing as you reread one of the Jane Austen’s. It was your first copy, therefore the most beaten up. You had always been a romantic, probably for the aesthetic. Which came first? Did your aesthetics extend from your romanticism, or did the romanticism stem from your aesthetics? It didn’t matter. All that mattered was that you loved the idea of love.
You were deeply engrossed in your book when you heard the sound of the chair across from you being pulled out. Someone sat down, but you buried your nose in the book. What would Elizabeth do? Would she accept Mr. Darcy’s love? Of course, you knew the answer, but you read the book each time like you had no idea. You just hoped that your guest would get the hint and leave you to read.
“Excuse me, I couldn’t help but notice that you’re reading Pride and Prejudice,” a smooth voice commented, and you glanced up at the boy. Your breath caught when you saw how cute he was with his curls and freckles. You almost shoved your nose into the spine of the book in nervousness. You knew you should probably say something, but you didn’t wanna mess it up. What if you accidentally offended him?
“Um, Yeah?” You managed to squeak out, and the guy smiled. He leaned closer, as if to get a peak at your face, but you were quick to bring the book back up. You fiddled with one of your polaroids to calm yourself.
“I think Mr. Darcy is a pompous prick that nowhere near deserves someone as well thought and versed as Elizabeth,” the boy stated bravely, and your switch flipped. You didn’t know how to talk to strangers about the weather, but you knew how to talk books, especially if you were defending one of your favorite romances.

Vain (Part 2) - Jughead Jones

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3

Summary: After an awkward encounter with Jughead Jones, you’ve been avoiding the anti-social teen. However, in the most cliche way possible, you end up paired together in a group project making avoidance harder than it first seemed.

I’m pretty new to writing on tumblr, so the response Vain got was overwhelming! Pretty sure that if I didn’t make a part 2, someone was going to skin me alive, (i got a LOT of asks for it, which I think is awesome!) It’s probably going to turn into a full on series so yay hype.

Warnings: - A lot of Shakespeare stuff which I try to explain :3

Taking Credit

I once had a friend – Amber was her name – who never did anything for herself, never earned anything of her own accord, and never achieved anything from her own work and effort. Everything she had come from someone else:

Her parents – who were not in any way rich, they certainly weren’t poor but they weren’t middle class either – who did everything around the house for her, who she threw tantrums at to get her own way, who she manipulated into complaining to the school every time a teacher noticed she hadn’t done her own work or was failing or being disruptive.

Her siblings, whom she domineered over. She blackmailed and bribed them into doing her chores and every other task she didn’t feel like doing. She’s the youngest of three, I should mention.
