and i don't want to wait three months to do this

I still don't know if he ever got his coffee.

I’m not 100% sure this even belongs here and I’ve posted this story elsewhere so some of you might have read it already.

Some background: I work in a rather specialized area of Forensics. Officially I’m employed by Police Scotland but they tend to let other law enforcement agencies, universities, etc borrow us from time to time. A lot of the time it’s for consulting work or guest lecturing but sometimes we’re sent to teach training courses.

About 18 months ago I was asked to lecture at a training course for some of the CID higher-ups in an English Police force. It was the first time I’d done anything like it and I was crapping myself.

I met with the conveners and other officials for dinner the night before my first day, and after dinner and drinks, I was dropped back at my hotel.

So to set the scene; it’s about 10pm, I’m all dressed up in my evening wear and I’m sitting at the bar in the hotel lounge. The place is dead, it’s just me and the barman so I’ve taken off my heels and am unraveling my hair having just ordered a hot chocolate. The barman asks if I want mini marshmallows on my hot chocolate. Yes, of course I want mini marshmallows on my hot chocolate. No I don’t mind waiting while you run to the kitchen.

So I’m sit there trying to trick my phone into connecting to the hotels WiFi when Angry Man walks in.

He stomped into the room and slammed his fist down on the bar about 3 ft from me and barked out one word:

“COFFEE”

I didn’t know it but apparently that attempt at communication was aimed at me; a fact I learned a moment later when Angry Man moved right up next to me, bent over me so his face was practically in mine and barked out again;

“COFFEE”.

In an attempt to get away from the screaming coffee man I slipped off the bar stool, putting it between the two of us. Extremely confused and more than a little terrified, it didn’t immediately occur to me that he thought I worked there, hell it wasn’t even registering that he wanted a coffee. He was just repeating it the same way a toddler does when they learn a new word but don’t entirely know what it means.

I’m going to blame the confusion, fear and tiredness for my completely moronic response, which was to parrot the word back at him.

Me: “Coffee?”

Angry Man: “COFFEE”

Then he slammed his fist down on the bar again. This time I noticed that he was actually throwing down money.

My brain suddenly came back online.

Me: “Oh. Eh, the barman should be back in a sec. H-”

Angry Man: “Get me a coffee. Now.”

Ooooh four new words. Progress.

Me: “I’m sorry, mate, I don’t work here.”

Angry man (shouting now) “You fucking lazy liar!! Do you think I’m fucking stupid?”

Yes, actually, but I’ll be keeping that to myself.

Angry Man: “Get off your fucking phone and get me a shitting coffee”

Me: “I really don’t-”

Cue rant about me being the only person in the lounge so of course I must work there and I was just being lazy and did I take him for an idiot. All while I’m slowly backing away from the bar so he can’t pin me between it and the bar stools. Then he throws in this:

Angry Man: “Do you have any idea who I am? Do you have any idea how important I am?”

I never got to find out how important this guy thought he was. Instead Angry Man’s Friend came wandering in.

He took one look at me; pretty much cornered by Angry Man who is now screaming about how he’ll make sure I never work again while I’m trying to calmly tell him to back off and he tries to intervene.

He took Angry Man by the shoulders and moved him back away from me while asking him what was going on.

Angry Man: “This stupid little whore is refusing to serve me”

Me: “I really don’t work here”

Angry Man’s Friend: “She doesn’t work here. Let’s just all try to calm down”

There was a few moments of Angry Man’s Friend trying to calm Angry Man while he ranted about getting me fired until two barman arrived, one of them with my hot chocolate. The presence of the three men distracted Angry Man enough for me to grab my shoes and escape with my chocolatey goodness.

As I left I could hear him demanding to speak to a manager.

The next day, after being introduced to a lecture theater full of high ranking CID Officers, I stood and walked to the podium only to be greeted by one guy in the audience laughing hysterically.

I just sort of froze trying to figure out the joke. Did I have food on my face? Was my shirt on inside out?

A quick check confirmed that, no. I’d managed to adult that morning.

A few other people began to chuckle as this guy struggled to get a hold of himself. As he regained control he pointed to his left.

Where a very red looking Angry Man was sitting.

I think it was the sheer relief that he wasn’t actually laughing at me that caused me to open my mouth and say to Angry Man;

“Oh did you get your coffee in the end?”

He walked out and I didn’t see him for the rest of the course.

Reunion

“You grew up.”

He laughs, rough and edging just slightly on bitter.

“Yeah, that happens when you disappear for two years.”

Derek’s eyes flit downward, and Stiles waits for him to comment on the FBI vest strapped to his chest but he doesn’t. His eyes only go so far as Stiles’ mouth, flicking back to his eyes and then down again, lingering, before sliding away. A warmth blooms out from Stiles’ chest, crawling up his neck and coiling downward, and this definitely isn’t the time for this but they haven’t seen each other in a year and a half, not even pictures because why the hell would Stiles have a picture of Derek (and he’s spent too long cursing not having pictures of Derek) and he finds his own eyes lingering.

“…You look exactly the same.” And that’s not true because Derek actually looks better, but there’s no real way to explain that Stiles hadn’t been able to hold all of the goddamn perfection of Derek’s face in his memory. He’d thought he had, but his eyes keep flitting around now and holding, catching on little details, little rushes of rediscovery in those eyes, that jaw, his teeth, his mouth, his…

Stiles wets his lips, and Derek’s looking again.

“We should––”

“I should have called,” Derek says at the same time, and Stiles blinks, breaking off, confusion pinching his brows because Derek hadn’t known Stiles was coming. He’d had no reason to call. Except… “After… Peter told me what happened, and I…”

“It’s fine.” It wasn’t, but it wasn’t any less fine than anything else from that shit show. It wasn’t any worse than Derek leaving town and getting rid of his phone to begin with.

“I felt sick the whole time you were gone,” Derek presses on, quick and urgent, like the words had been fighting for months to bubble loose and are finally breaking free. “I felt… Cora said it seemed like I’d just… emptied out. On the full moon, I could barely––”

Stop it.” It stung, because he’d thought Derek would care. For the longest time he’d felt like Derek should care, and deciding he didn’t was the first stepping stone to pulling himself together after… after the Benefactor.

Or… fuck, maybe Derek had cared, but he hadn’t cared enough to stay, to keep in contact, to check in when Stiles had needed… needed someone.

No, fuck. Needed him.

“This isn’t the time,” he says, firmly, because a fucking FBI SWAT team is nearby somewhere and there’s still a target painted on Derek’s back, and the fact that Stiles wants to crawl onto his lap and beat the crap out of him at the same time doesn’t matter, because Stiles is here to save his life. Again.

Derek parts his lips, looks like he wants to argue… and ends up just nodding, looking away up the street.

Stiles makes it a whole three steps toward the next corner before swinging back on him, balled fist smacking his bicep.

“Why didn’t you call?”

Derek doesn’t flinch at the blow. Sighs softly. When he meets Stiles’ eyes, the look in them’s enough to send months of coiled anger scattering.

“I would have gone back.”

“…What?” Stiles feels breathless on the word. Derek looks away, hands lost in the depths of his pockets and stance set in the defeated posture of a man with no way to win.

“If I’d heard your voice. If you’d asked. If you’d even sounded anything less than happy––” He grits his teeth, sharp and sudden, head ducking against some ugly thought. “…And I didn’t want to hear you happy, either.” That falls out lower, tight and rough like a secret shame.

“You didn’t want to hear me happy,” Stiles echoes, numb, and then slowly: “Without you.”

And he only understands Derek’s meaning because it’s been echoing in his own chest for over a year–– that stupid, selfish war of wanting to know he’s happy, and not wanting to know he’s happy, not wanting to hear him making a life and finding bliss in a way Stiles couldn’t give him. He’d always wanted to know Derek was doing well, so much that he’d lain up at night sometimes picturing new, bright, sometimes ridiculously corny futures for him… but the thought had always been as agonizing as it was hopeful and Stiles had never slept well afterward. And then he’d spent other nights up hating himself for being selfish enough to half-hope Derek might not be happy.

Might fail out there in the world, and come home.

Derek’s eyes are on his again, wide and shock-soft in a way Stiles had only glimpsed on him once before: the rush of thinking you’re alone in the world and realizing for one beautiful instant that you’re understood

He can feel a matching expression lighting up his own eyes.

“We’re idiots,” he breathes, and Derek shakes his head, barely seeming to feel the movement.

“I couldn’t go back there.”

“But you could have known I fucking missed you as much as––” He breaks off, despite everything suddenly unsure. “…you missed me?”

“I missed you.” Derek promises, not missing a beat.

“You missed me,” Stiles echoes, and it’s everything he never knew he needed to hear. They watch each other for too long, stunned, awed stillness.

And then the slam of a car door in the distance pulls them back; reminds them where they are and what’s happening. Derek blinks away, looking out and alert toward the street, but Stiles can see a faint flush around his ears, a happy pull that won’t quite die on his lips.

“This isn’t the time,” Derek says, and Stiles nods. There are villains to stop. People to save.

“This isn’t the time,” he echoes, but he’s smiling as he turns to head up the street. “Later.”

It sounds like a promise worth keeping.

***Nearly 3 weeks into the hiatus and I am missing Magnus and Alec desperately. Matthew Daddario voice: *When is it gonna end?” Siiigh. But well, what better way to spent the hiatus then reading some great Malec fanfics, right? Right. Because I have read a lot of amazing fics incl. discovering some great new authors. And now that autumn is coming…. the perfect time to read more.

Also, I am overwhelmed how many notes the last rec post got and how much you all enjoy(ed) it. So I hope this 5th edition will get a lot of love, too. Again, let me know if you liked this and if I should continue doing this. But now, have fun reading, pumpkins.***

FALL WITHOUT WINGS by @notcrypticbutcoy [ M | 144k | WIP ]

Alec has been told the same stories all his life. He’s been taught the same lines, over and over again. Downworlders are reckless, impulsive, demonic. They’re not to be trusted.

And Magnus Bane is the epitome of everything evil about Downworlders.

At least, that’s what people keep telling him. Alec’s not quite so sure anymore.

Or: In which the Nephilim have wings, are taught to loathe Downworlders, and Alec is presented with a conundrum when Magnus Bane saves his life.

HOLDING THE STICK by @baneismyexistence  [ M | AU | 80.3k | complete ]

And the most handsome man Alec has ever met.

He’s doomed.

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO… by @lecrit  [ E | AU | 21.5k | complete | Stars Aligned #1 ]

Working for Magnus isn’t easy. Magnus is out of control and Alec has to yell more often than not to get him to listen to him. He hates everything formal because it means he has to watch his mouth. Most importantly, Magnus is an incorrigible flirt.

Which would be alright if Alec wasn’t utterly, irremediably, unfathomably in love with him.

IT’S ALWAYS YOUR MOVE by @lecrit  [ E | AU | 15.5k | complete | Stars Aligned #2 ]

Maryse Lightwood is fierce, determinate and she is standing right in front of Magnus, on the threshold of his house, the scowl on her face announcing nothing good.

Magnus hasn’t seen her since the Oscars ceremony three days ago. To be fair, he hasn’t really seen anyone, too busy that he had been catching up on lost time with Alec.

Magnus thought he could be tranquil forever after winning an Oscar and finally confessing his feelings to Alec. Magnus was wrong.

WALK OF FAME by @lecrit  [ M | AU | 13.5k | complete | Stars Aligned #3 ]

Alec is fairly certain he is the luckiest man in America. On earth. Possibly in the entire universe.

He slowly started to convince himself of the now indisputable fact when Magnus and him started dating a year ago after the ceremony that crowned Magnus as King of the World (or Best Actor, but Alec isn’t always objective when it comes to his boyfriend).
A lot happened in a year, and Alec knows eventually the wheel is bound to spin and his luck might dim and vanish but as of now, he still feels like the luckiest man on earth, and he is going to make the most of it for as long as it lasts.

SYMPATHY FOR THE PRINCE by @ketzwrites [ M | AU | 31.9k | complete ]

Prince of Hell Magnus Bane, was tired of his life in Hell. Every day was the same; condemned souls being punished for their wrong doings, demons feasting on the worst humanity had to offer, two or three deals with a few greedy humans. It was dull, uneventful. Boring.

So Magnus packed his bags and moved to New York City. As the owner of the lavishing club Pandemonium at the heart of Manhattan, Magnus enjoyed a life without worries for five years, until the fateful night where a former client was murdered on the streets.

It was then that he met no-nonsense Homicide Detective Alec Lightwood, owner of incorruptible morals and the tightest ass Magnus has ever seen. Earth was fun, after all.

Confused, Magnus followed Rafael’s line of site to the opposite side of the train where a young man sat, pulling silly faces. In more ways than one as well because not only had he calmed Raf down but he was gorgeous.

MR. LIGHTWOOD by @nanf1c [ M | 1.2k | complete ]

A ‘no kissing, looking at suggestively or touching’ rule was applied when it came to Magnus and Alec at the downworlder meeting. Magnus respected that, respected his man, and tried his best as soon as he walked through the doors of the institute. But now, back in his loft, with the night fallen and Alec returning through the front door from a demon attack, looking battered and exhausted, Magnus couldn’t help but keep the game going.

Alec captures the defined line of Magnus’ jaw between eager yet clumsy fingers, tilting his face upwards as they gasp into each other’s mouths, exchanging fevered gusts of breath. Magnus seizes the swollen flesh of Alec’s bottom lip with gentle teeth, nipping gingerly, suckling with avid hunger and Alec’s groan resonates loud and clear throughout the room. By the angel, he wants this man desperately; his need has become a physical ache, pulsating through his nerve endings and coiling strictly around his burning muscles.

Unpacking sucked. And Magnus had only brought like half of his things. Okay, maybe two-thirds. But whatever, it didn’t matter. What did matter was that Magnus was sweating from carrying boxes, the cottage had no air conditioning, and he was super close to packing everything back up and driving back to New York in about three seconds.

WITH YOU WRAPPED AROUND ME, THE WORLD FEELS PERFECT by @matsdaddario  [ E | 3.6k | complete | Lovely Firsts #3 ]

Magnus is still asleep; Alec can feel the steady rise and fall of his chest against his own back, and Alec takes the few minutes just to enjoy being wrapped up in Magnus’s arms. He looks down at their hands threaded together, resting against his stomach. He loves the contrast between them; tan and pale, long and lean, deep red nail polish and short, bitten nails. There’s something comforting there too. How different they can be, but how well they fit together. Alec has a moment of feeling like they were made to fit together. It might be stupid, it brings a blush to his cheeks, but a warm feeling settles in his stomach at the thought. He likes that.

ONE DAY by @magnusragnor [ T | 1.3k | complete ]

“Do you -” Alec started, hissing his teeth in pain and looking up at Magnus. “Do you have any more of that free of charge warlock TLC?”

“What are you -?” Magnus asked, before the memory hit him full force and he tried not to laugh, because Alec was hurt, god damn it. But Alec was smiling up at him and his eyes were shining bright full of hope and love, so Magnus leaned down and kissed him.

MORNINGS LIKE THIS by @softmagnusbane [ G | 1.1k | complete ]

Alec feels all his love for the man in his arms bubble up to the surface looking at him like this. Sleep rumpled and peaceful, his hair is a soft mess that Alec almost can’t wait to run his fingers through when Magnus wakes up, his lips so kissable and slightly open. There is nothing better in this world than being able to wake up to this he thinks idly.

PLAYING WITH FIRE by Obsessivecompulsivereadr [ M | 3k | complete ]

Alec’s breath catches nearly every time he looks at Magnus, and it happens even during times they haven’t been on an official date. But tonight is different. Magnus isn’t his sedate and dignified self right now. He’s back to being flirty and relaxed, and he looks so good that Alec can’t stop thinking about touching him.

SO BRIGHT by @lemonoclefox [ G | 17.5k | complete ]

Alec has come out, but that doesn’t stop his parents from their continuous attempts to set him up with a nice shadowhunter girl. So, what better way to finally get them off his back, than to say he has a boyfriend? Problem solved. Except they now apparently want to meet this guy, who doesn’t exist. Thankfully, Magnus Bane – who encouraged Alec to come out in the first place, and whose silent crush on Alec is just as bad as Alec’s crush on him – is more than happy to help. Even if the night doesn’t end up going entirely as planned.

They stared at each other for a moment, each beat of Magnus’s heart seeming to thicken the air again, pulling them back to the charged space they had fallen into on all of their dates. They were in this charged space where their bodies were saying one thing, and one thing only.

I want you so badly.

TO LOVE A SHADOWHUNTER by Madalena [ E | 10k | complete | The Peacemaker Chronicles #1 ]

“Are you really going to risk your life for a Shadowhunter?”

Those were some of the last words that Magnus Bane had said to Dot before he stepped through his portal to his lair, protecting only the warlocks. Abandoning the rest of the Shadow World to Valentine and his Circle.

Dot wasn’t sure how long she had been under Valentine’s control, but now as she stood on Magnus’ balcony, hours after Magnus and Clary had portalled away to the Institute, to save both Shadowhunters and Downworlders, she knew something had changed.

Someone had changed him.

OBLIVION by @champagnemagnus [ T | 2.7k | complete ]

Alec stood up, keeping a careful distance and being sure to move slowly as he approached. “Magnus, I am so sorry. For everything you had to go through.”

Magnus’ eyes never moved from the spot on the floor he was staring at. He shook his head slightly, eyebrows furrowed deeply. “That agony rune…” He paused, taking a moment to swallow. His face was drawn in so much pain that Alec had to look away for a moment. He immediately punished himself by digging his fingernails into his palm. It was selfish to worry about his pain. He had certainly inflicted more than enough on Magnus that he had to atone for. “Made me remember things that I spent…centuries trying to forget.”

THE RED BUTTON by @ketzwrites [ M | AU | 38k | complete ]

After one black out too many, Ragnor and Catarina had enough of Magnus trying to drink himself to an early grave. It was time for an intervention and they had the perfect place in mind: The Institute, the best rehabilitation installation in the New York state.

Only Magnus wasn’t exactly asked for his opinion on the matter. And if there is something Magnus doesn’t like, is to be forced into something.

Maybe the Head of the Institute, Alec Lightwood, is enough of an argument to chance his mind?

In stream the other day, we started talking about an Avengers Mall AU, and now I can’t stop thinking about it, because I have so many years of bad retail stories built up in my head and non-powered AUs usually don’t work for me, but the longer I think about it, the funnier this gets.

Steve and Sam are two guys who retired from their military branches and teamed up to run an artesian bespoke candy shop.  Steve has no idea half of their sales comes from the fact that Sam put the candy pulling hook in the front window and teenage girls just stand there, drooling.  Sam is totally aware of this, and uses it to ALL his advantage when he’s doing the sugar work.

Bucky took a part time job at the Hot Topic across the way because hell, he was spending all his time hanging out with Sam and Steve, might as well get paid.  He was the only reliable employee over the age of seventeen; he is now the manager and he’s FURIOUS about it.  His staff is made up of Nico, Kamala and Sam Alexander and various people who get hired and then don’t make it through the training because Bucky glaring at you while you take register training is just SO HARD TO HANDLE.  No one is sure if he’s after Sam or Steve or both.

The SHIELD crew runs a pretty decent mall restaurant, but yeah, used to be a Golden Corral and Fury reserves the right to yell “Do you see a buffet here?” at anyone dumb enough to think it still is.  He doesn’t actually do it, because most of the people who are confused enough to ask are retirees who remind him of his grandma, but still.  He reserves the right.  Nat is a truly terrifying line cook, Maria’s front of house, and Phil’s the head waiter.  Clint doesn’t actually work there, but he’ll put on an apron and belt out an impressive rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ in exchange for free food, and no one else on staff wants to do it, so he eats there A LOT.

Clint is always in the mall.  In the back corridors.  Hanging out in the food court.  Wandering up and down the anchor store escalators.  Everyone thinks he works somewhere else.  No one knows where he actually works.  There is a betting pool.  It has been building for YEARS.

Jan runs the sort of high end boutique that has like, four outfits in two sizes on six gigantic racks.  There are no prices.  You do not ask how much it is. You know if you can afford it.  If she likes you, you can afford it.

Thor runs the hardware store.  No one knows why the hardware store is there.  This is not the sort of place one would see a hardware store.  Thor says he inherited it from his father, and it was there before the mall, and no one really wants to look into it.  Mostly, they seem to get by on selling knives..  Big knives.  Little knives.  Knives as long as your arm.  They get by on selling knives, because who’s buying screws at this place?  Oh, right, anyone Sif TELLS to buy screws.  "You need screws.“  "Oh, no, I-”  "You can always use more screws.“  "Y-yes, ma'am.”  She might be domming half of their customers without knowing it.  The Warriors Three run the stock room.  Badly.

Bruce runs the used bookstore down on the lower level where he can’t really afford the rent but the mall management like saying there’s a bookstore, and no one else is going to rent that hole, so he gets to stay, hiding in his piles and piles and piles of used books.  Mostly science and history, but he does a brisk business in romance novels and murder mystery paperbacks.  He likes it down there.  He wishes people would stop trying to get him to come upstairs to socialize.  He also kind of wishes people would stop coming down TO socialize.  His cousin Jennifer runs the register and helps the customers most days, she’s very quiet and very mild mannered and wears very lumpy clothes and giant eighties style glasses, so no one recognizes her when she goes to her second job, as a crossfit instructor for the gym on the top floor.  Jenn is, as they say, RIPPED. Put her in a leotard and her whole personality changes, it’s like she’s a different person.

Carol is a recovering alcoholic ex-pilot who runs the bar at the ‘bad’ chain restaurant down on the far end of the ground floor.  Other than the SHIELD place or the food court, it’s the only place to eat in the mall, and honestly, you’d be better off in the food court.  The food is trash, but she can mix a mean mojito and she knows every secret of every worker in the place, and she’s paid double on Saturdays because she’s her own bouncer.

Jessica Drew runs the arcade on the main floor, one of those stupid ones with 'glow mini-golf’ and games that constantly spit out tickets, you know, legalized gambling for children.  It’s a chain, but the give out far too many prizes and she and her staff (Peter, Miles, Anya) would be fired if they also weren’t the highest grossing location on the eastern seaboard.  They throw the best birthday parties in the state, and have a waiting list that’s like, months long.

Wanda’s shop sells… Something.  No one knows what any of this stuff does.  Or if it’s legal to own.  But when you find something you want, OH GOD YOU REALLY WANT IT.  She mostly sits and reads, and drinks tea from Hank McCoy’s tea shop.

Stephen Strange quit his job as a surgeon and retired to run a magic and joke shop.  If you ask him why, he just shrugs and said he made some very bad choices.  A relative somewhere oversea, Asia, Clint says it was somewhere in Asia, died and left him some sort of inheritance.  So now he just sells fake rubber vomit and teaches slight of hand.  Buy him a drink, and learn more than you wanted to know about card tricks.  Walk into his shop, and be prepared to sit through at LEAST four card tricks before you can escape.

Greer run’s “Tigra’s Treasure Trove” on the second floor, it’s the anime and manga and gaming and comic shop.  She wears cat ears and a tail.  Every day.  No one’s sure if she does it to bring in the otaku, or if it’s a lifestyle choice.  No one wants to ask.

Tony owns the mall.  Owns like a hundred malls across the country.  No one knows, Obie does the day to day running of the management company, but Tony owns them.  He’s mostly in it for the buying and selling, but he likes this mall.  This one.  He likes it here.

He has a Sharper Image type store on the top floor.  It’s him and Rhodey and Pepper and Pepper will kill them both one of these days but he sells the sort of stuff you do not need but God you want it.  You walk into his store and it’s all apple store chic, white and chrome and gleaming surfaces, collapseable tablets and robots and holographic projectors and all the geek chic that you want and everyone in the mall wants something from him, they’ve all got something on layaway (he only does layaway for other retail workers because he doesn’t want to keep track of this stuff) except Steve and it makes him insane.  He spends far too much time trying to figure out what he can stock or create or build that will get Steve into his shop.

Pepper calls them “Steve-Grabbers,” Like 'grandma grabbers’ but designed to attract the most sincere hipster she’s ever met and she’d kill Tony over adding this stuff to stock without telling her, but it all sells.  It all sells.  In his desperate attempt to attract Steve, Tony misses and attracts EVERYONE ELSE.

Dan and Phil are roommates in college, Dan's horny and has been begging Phil all day to fuck him and make him cum and Phil finally caves when Dan starts jerking off in the shower while he's trying to do his homework so he puts on a cock ring and fucks dan until he passes out(aftercare too) and they don't go to their first class the next day cuz they're too tired lol overstimulation, cockslut!dan, choking and hairpulling

I also added a weeeeeny bit of daddy!kink and gave Dan a tongue piercing because why not? If you have trouble getting past the cut on mobile open in your browser!

When Phil first meets his university roommate, he knows he’s hit the jackpot. The boy who’s sitting on one of the single beds introduces himself as Dan, and suddenly Phil isn’t quite so regretful over his decision to live in one of the cramped one-room suites on campus, rather than paying extra for the more spacious dorms down the road. Dan is gorgeous, to say the least. He has these pretty brown eyes surrounded by fans of long lashes and lovely, dark locks that feather out against his face. His smile is so bright it might not even be an issue that there’s only one tiny window in the cinderblock room and that the lightbulb screwed into the cracked ceiling is basically useless.  He’s classically beautiful – but that isn’t necessarily what makes Phil decide he needs to have him within the first three seconds of knowing him. It’s more likely that every fibre in this boys’ being screams twink. From the way he’s dressed, in skin tight black jeans and a deep plunging V-neck that’s probably two sizes too small, to the way he spreads his long body across the small bed like he’s there for a centrefold shoot. Phil’s staring at his pouty, full bottom lip wondering what it’d look like wrapped around his cock when Dan – on habit, or perhaps something else – pushes the silver ball of his tongue piercing out and gently grips it between his teeth, before retracting it back into his mouth. It’s then that Phil’s want becomes more of a need.

They call you Magpie, occasionally— Bloodhound more recently— and you like to collect things.

You’ve always been careful about it, of course— learning where, if they exist at all, the lost and founds are, how to stumble across the people around who have the uncanny ability to know everyone and everything that matters to them, the places locals always check for items gone adrift— and you’ve heard strange things about EU, even before you actually arrived. Nothing concrete, nothing substantial, but enough on the forums and ratemyprofessors and hidden in deep corners of the web that you take extra care this time before continuing your finding (and returning, which is, admittedly, more of an entertaining challenge).

So instead of picking up the curiosities or collecting the feathers and bits and baubles, you watch, as you always do, and you’re thorough, as you always are. It takes some months and some seeing things you perhaps shouldn’t have and some time spent imagining solutions you likely couldn’t spare, but when all is said and done you think you’re ready to begin.

When you take the feathers, you leave behind piles of birdseed (your cockatiel’s favorite, and millet too when the plumage is especially colorful). When you find bottle caps, you bring them to the fountain and throw them in the highest tier; for the koi in the pond and their gasping mouths, you bring stories (words, the important thing is the words) whispered in the dead of night and shut up in the pretty green bottles left for you on the sidewalk. You find marbles in your pockets, bright as bubbles catching the sun, and make earrings out of them using the delicate wire you’re given every time you leave interestingly-shaped driftwood in that hole beside the dumpster (the earrings you keep, and sometimes give away to classmates worried about getting caught (or getting Caught, depending) in the rain). You give poetry and songs (whatever’s in your head, be it Bon Jovi for a week, the lines of that play you’re struggling with, or the rhymes that occasionally overtake your thoughts) to the crows and the trees and they give you nothing, but nor do they take.

The squirrels you know better than to deal with. A senior warned you (indirectly, eyes straight ahead as you both walked along), and when you accidentally leave your doodle notebook under the tree, you are left shaking pine needles out of your hair for weeks (it does smell nice, to be fair).

You never take found things without giving in return, and never give without expecting to leave empty-handed. It is a kindness, all of it, and you treasure the thanks you get (you do not always get thanked, and you do not mind).

With the lost things, you tread more carefully. You peek at them from the corner of your eye and wait a day (sometimes two, sometimes three, depending on how hard it is to only cast a glance) in order to see if the item is claimed; eventually (reluctantly, sometimes, but you do know how to help lost things find their homes, and you don’t want to leave them), you pick them up.

If it’s made of anything shiny, you leave it by the crows, rattling off as many interwoven lines of poetry you can cobble together about guarding and glittering, returning and finding, dropping off folded tinfoil sculptures as well (the crows have never given you anything back, but nor has anything been taken, and so you figure it’s fair they keep whatever they feel they’re owed). Though you only intend for them to keep watch and draw attention (whenever something pretty is misplaced, everyone looks at them), you begin to leave them your little aluminum figures whenever you catch wind of anything (or anyone) disappearing as a good luck charm, fond of how they watch and listen and protect what’s them and theirs. It is meant to be an idiosyncrasy, but you start to notice that they gather around the places those lost things turn up. You don’t give thanks and you pick up no more of their feathers than usual. When something is returned you make sure those involved discover a sudden and temporary interest in reading classic poems aloud.

When it’s anything that seems personal (or urgent), you hunt It down; a sigil that looks like an abstract swirl or perhaps an eye or perhaps a hand. Usually someone’s wearing it, frequently it’s purple, and always it’s on the softest-looking piece of fabric around; you drop the item nearby, wrapped in pairs of the warmest socks you can get on short notice, and grin before moving along. After the third time, when you get pins and needles walking away, you also start folding paper flowers out of the lists you keep of what you pick up where (and, if applicable, what you left in return). You leave those stuffed inside the socks, and notice that in certain places nothing turns up anymore (you do not blame It for being more skilled than you).

When it’s just an ordinary lost thing, you bury it, and leave a circle of pebbles above; later, you place a crow’s feather in the middle as well. You check back in a week and usually it’s gone. If it’s still there in two, you put it in the school’s lost and found, and at that point, more often than not, you later end up discovering it in your room.

You begin to get a reputation.

You hope, perhaps (probably) vainly, that it will do you no harm, and that you will not become one of the lost things you are so fond of.

You do what you can to keep safe; you owe no one a thing, and there are quite a few that owe you (and owe you very much).

You like to collect things, but you don’t collect debts. You do much freely, and you find value in kindnesses, but you value yourself, of course, most of all.

You hope you will not become lost, one way or another. You try to remember that, before, your help was freely given and the debts you were owed forgiven more often than not. You hope your (what-started-out-as-)innocent hobby will do you no harm.

You begin to get a reputation.

I still don't know if he ever got his coffee

I’m not 100% sure this even belongs here and I’ve posted this story elsewhere so some of you might have read it already.

Some background: I work in a rather specialised area of Forensics.

“COFFEE”

I didn’t know it but apparently that attempt at communication was aimed at me; a fact I learned a moment later when Angry Man moved right up next to me, bent over me so his face was practically in mine and barked out again;

The next day, after being introduced to a lecture theatre full of high ranking CID Officers, I stood and walked to the podium only to be greeted by one guy in the audience laughing hysterically.

I think it was the sheer relief that he wasn’t actually laughing at me that caused me to open my mouth and say to Angry Man;

“Oh did you get your coffee in the end?”

He walked out and I didn’t see him for the rest of the course.

What your favorite Touhou girl says about you
  • Reimu: People might consider you pretty vanilla, but you really like Touhou and Reimu does a good job encompassing the best things about it.
  • Marisa: You're a cheerful person who likes to live life as you go, and are always ready for excitement. You like how her attitude reflects yours.
  • Sakuya: You love seeing girls kick ass and look cool doing it. Most likely a Jojo fan. Probably still salty about Touhou 10-13.
  • Ichirin: Also a Jojo fan.
  • Youmu: You're a weapons fanatic and ready to bust out your katana collection and explain in detail how Japanese smiths worked with metal. You also like nervous anime girls.
  • Reisen: Weapons fanatic also, but mostly guns. You're really into military fiction and girls in suits.
  • Yuyuko: You like beautiful ladies and you know it. You look at fanart of her a lot.
  • Remilia: You've either been reading or writing fanfiction for years, and have like 20 headcanons for her and her past.
  • Alice: You probably have one or more ships involving her, and tons of doll headcanons.
  • Yukari: You're into powerful mysterious ladies but also find it relatable how she sleeps uncaringly for months at a time.
  • Yuuka: You're either a hardcore PC-98 fan or in love with the idea of a hot lady kicking your ass.
  • Momiji: You're a furry. Don't even try to deny it.
  • Ran: See above.
  • Rin: See above.
  • Chen: See above.
  • Mamizou: See above.
  • Kagerou: See above.
  • Aunn: See above.
  • Flandre: You discovered Touhou through the Ronald McDonald video, and most likely thought she was a crazy yandere chick at some point. You really want to leave your past behind you.
  • Byakuren: You probably like latex, and older women. Or motorcycles. Maybe all of these things. You either think she's pure and too good for this world, or disagree with her entirely but can't bring yourself to dislike her.
  • Kanako: You're definitely into older women. You want to be stepped on.
  • Utsuho: You like science fiction, huge-titted ditzy girls, or both.
  • Patchouli: You think she's relatable, because she's a shut-in who hates social interaction and just wants to be left alone.

  • Koishi: You're either into adorable cute fluffy sparkly things, or gory horror. Probably both.
  • Sanae: God you just want an anime waifu already
  • Mokou: Probably gay, weak to ripped clothes, and faints at the mere thought of her. Probably consider her the most relatable 2hu.
  • Kaguya: You're sick of arguing with Mokou fans.
  • Raiko: Gay.
  • Yuugi: Definitely gay.
  • Clownpiece: You're most likely from America. You shitpost frequently.
  • Kasen: You've read every Touhou print work there is. When ULiL came out you wept tears of joy for three days in a row.
  • One of the Watatsuki sisters: You're tired of having to explain to people who your favorite Touhou girl actually is.
  • Iku: Yeah right, nobody's favorite Touhou is Iku.

  • Mima: You're most likely in denial.

Please do a preference or blurb where Gemma or Anne don't like you or think that you're using him for money (which makes you really insecure about him buying you stuff)and Harry finds out about it and is really upset about it.

You didn’t come from a wealthy family. In fact, most of your childhood was spent scraping for your last dollar hidden in couch cushions and eating less when your parents were in between jobs.

That being said, you weren’t poor either. Your parents could afford to send you to a good school, and you came home each day able to do your homework to earn good grades, without having to deal with any extra work. You were just strictly middle class.

When you met Harry, you were in your second year of university, and in the midst of all your student debt, Harry showed you what it felt to have no regard whatsoever for the price of things. He took you to amusement parks and sent you gifts you’ve been eyeing for months. Of course, these were just little side effects.

Harry was kind and humorous and treated you like you have never been treated before. Within the first few months of you two dating, he acted as if he was still courting you. Flowers and chocolates were sent almost weekly, and you spent every waking moment (apart from attending school, of course) with him. You were madly in love.

“I want you to meet my family.”

You and Harry were ice skating when he suddenly pulled you to a stop and took your face into his palms. His breath was visible in the air between you two, and his green eyes were bright and vivid. You stammer, “M-Meet y-your f-family? Like n-now?”

He chuckles, brushing back a stray piece of your hair, and says, “Not now. But soon.”

“How soon?”

Harry’s smile doesn’t break. “My birthday.”

Your knees suddenly start to buckle, and Harry catches you in time before you have the chance to fall. “Your birthday is in a week,” you huff, stabilising yourself back on the ice. “I thought it was just going to be the two of us. Cuddled up in bed the entire day…or something.” You add the last part to make it didn’t seem as if you were greatly looking forward to the plan. You were. A day with just him and no one else? Nothing was better.

“Yeah,” Harry stretches the word out, and you see the shift in attitude in his eyes. “But I was thinking, since my mum and Gemma are gonna be in London that week, we could just invite them over.”

“We’ve been together for a year,” you hesitate. “Would Gemma and Anne really–?”

“Yes.” Harry interrupts, pressing a kiss to your shaking lips. “I love you and you love me. I want my family to see how happy we are.”

You think for a minute, not ready to meet the two most important women in his life, but also not wanting to disappoint the soon-to-be birthday boy. “Okay,” you sigh, finally giving in.

“Good, because I already invited them over to stay with us.”

“Harry! I haven’t seen you in forever!”

Your hands are shaking in the pockets of your pants as you watch Anne and Gemma tumble over the threshold and into Harry’s waiting arms. You stand to the side of the room, by the fireplace, unsure as to what to do or what to say. Luckily, Harry sensed your nervousness and after embracing both women, he gestured towards you with a bright smile. “This is Y/N. She’s the one I’ve been talking about.”

“More like endlessly rambling about,” murmured Gemma and she and Anne shared a laugh. You smile as Harry’s mother walks over to hug you, and keep smiling when Gemma’s arms wrap around you.

Harry announces, “I’m going to go make some drinks and snacks for all of us. You three get to know each other. I have a feeling you will be seeing each other a lot.”

And with that, he leaves the room. You sit down on the nearest sofa, and Gemma and Anne follow suit, both stopping to remove their coats first. “So,” you try, “how was the travel–”

“That’s a nice belt,” Gemma interrupts. You frown, glancing down at your waist. “Is that Gucci?”

You nod. “Harry got it for me on my birthday. I begged him not to but–”

“But you accepted it anyways,” Anne finishes, her voice laced with poison.

“Yes,” you whisper under your breath.

“Where did you go to university, Y/N?” Gemma asks.

“Oxford.”

“Wow. Ivy league. You must be drowning in student debt right now.”

“Yeah,” you smile, thinking she was joking. “I can barely afford–”

“Those boots?” Anne chirps in. “Are those Harry’s?”

You look down to see that they, indeed, were. You didn’t even notice. You just needed something comfy to slip your freezing feet into. “I guess they are,” you murmur.

Gemma clears her throat, and it makes you look up at the female version of your boyfriend. “Harry wears his heart on his sleeve, bless him, but he is often blind when women like you come sneaking along. But not me. And not Anne. Harry might think you love him, but you don’t have us fooled, you money-digging–”

“Snacks!” Harry bursts out from the kitchen at that exact second, and you have enough time to wipe away a single tear before he places down a giant plate of crackers in front of you all. “The drinks are still inside, but I was too excited to wait.”

Anne knits her eyebrows together, and she’s smiling that easy smile that makes Harry believe it never left her face. “Too excited for what?”

But Harry’s already reaching into the coat cabinet, and pulls out a hidden box wrapped in bright red. He walks over to you, beaming, and says, “For you, my sweetheart.”

Your lips part in surprise, and even though you don’t take your eyes off of Harry’s, you can sense Gemma and Anne glaring at you. “What is this?” You ask as Harry drops it onto your lap.

“A little something. Open it and see.” He drops his head to the side and looks up at you with loving eyes. You bite the inside of your cheek as you start to unwrap it.

“What is it?” Gemma asks, peeking over her brother’s shoulder. “Shit.”

Diamonds are reflected in her eyes. Harry explains, “I had it custom made for you. See? It’s my name and your name loosely written on the sides. You lost your bracelet last week, and I wanted to make it up to you.”

“But it’s not even my birthday,” you whisper, eyes glazing over. It was beautiful. Too beautiful for your hands to touch.

“I know,” he presses a kiss to the side of your head. “But you make me so happy, I just couldn’t resist. I was going to give it to you after the night was over as a thank you for meeting my family, but I couldn’t wait.”

“Harry,” you whisper, tears threatening to spill. You still don’t dare to touch it. “You shouldn’t have.”

Harry opens his mouth to say something, but Anne interrupts, “Harry, I think the drinks are getting cold.” Harry looks up at his mother, and then back at you, before disappearing back into the kitchen.

“Why aren’t you smiling?” Gemma hisses. “This is what you want, isn’t it? This is why you have him wrapped around your finger.”

“I love him,” you murmur softly. “I love him with all my heart. I would love him if he had nothing.”

Anne shrugs. “Even if that’s true, I guess we’ll never know now.”

“I love him!” You repeat, louder, more frantic than before. A tear spills onto the bracelet that is still wrapped up in velvet.

“Then why don’t you just rip that bracelet apart?” Gemma barks. “Rip it to prove that it doesn’t matter.”

“It’s expensive,” you murmur. “It’s priceless. I can’t possibly…I can’t…”

“That’s because you don’t want to,” Anne snarls. “Gemma is right. You’re nothing but a gold digger. A nasty gold digger that is going to stay away from Harry from now on.”

“Drinks!” Harry strides into the room (again, at the worst timing possible), and immediately notices the tension. “What happened?”

You immediately rise from your seat, picking up his present for you and discarding it on the table. “I don’t feel too well,” you lie. “I’m going to go rest for a bit.”

“Do you want your–” You didn’t even have to turn around to know that Harry was pointing towards your bracelet.

“No.”

You don’t know how much time has passed. Hours, probably. Gemma and Anne have already left. The house is quiet. Harry climbs into bed and sighs, “If you don’t like it, you can just tell me.”

You furrow your eyebrows. “Don’t like what?”

He looks at you pointedly. “The bracelet.” He replies obviously. “I can return it and exchange it for whatever you want tomorrow. Just say the word.”

“Don’t,” you blurt out. “Get a refund and donate the cash to charity.”

“Huh?”

This is when he notices the huge pile of things in the corner of the room. “Is that–?” All the things that Harry has ever bought you were placed in the corner of the room. He whips his head back to you. “What’s wrong? Did Anne or Gemma say anything?”

“No,” you whisper. He can tell you’re lying in less than second.

“What did they say?” He pulls you closer to him. “Tell me.”

“Nothing,” you try again, but he’s not buying it. Finally, you confess, “They said I was just using you for money…” Tears start to build up in your eyes again, and this time, they fall. “They said…They said I was a gold digger…but..but Harry I’m not, and I tried to tell them, but they wouldn’t listen.”

Harry’s breath catches in his throat. Then, without warning, he immediately jumps out of bed and rushes to where his phone lays on top of his cabinet. “What are you doing?” You ask, nose already started to clog up from the tears.

He presses his phone against his ear, and in less than a beat, he’s screaming, “DID YOU CALL Y/N A GOLD DIGGER?” Oh shit. “How dare you accuse the woman I love–” He pauses, face scrunching up in disgust at whatever is being said from the other line. “All that is untrue. What kind of stories have you been reading? I’m not speaking to you both until an apology is issued.”

And with that, he hangs up the phone.

“Harry, you didn’t have to do that,” you say as he crawls back into bed with you.

“I don’t have to do a lot of things. I don’t have to buy you stuff you don’t need, but I do because I want to show you how much I love you. I don’t have to devote my entire life to writing songs, but I do because I would never prefer doing something else. But what I need to do is to make sure that my girlfriend knows that she is an important part of who I am, and to make sure no one tells her anything else.”

this is so shit and i might rewrite it but i felt so bad for not writing in a while so i just needed to post something but might take it down later because i am so unhappy with this ending.

hogwarts au in which shiro, a quidditch star who suffered a career-ending injury, returns to hogwarts to teach charms. there he becomes fast friends with allura—the arithmancy professor—and matt—who teaches herbology—and spends quality time with his cousin/adopted brother, keith. shiro had known from the beginning that returning to hogwarts would be a good move for him; he just hadn’t realized how good, until he met lance.

lance, the seventh year gryffindor prefect and quidditch co-captain. lance, who shakes shiro’s hand and says, “you are my favorite chaser of all time,” as though shiro never stopped playing after the loss of his right arm. lance, the boy who crouches down in front of crying first years and consoles their homesickness. lance, who doesn’t care about house loyalties, who buys a bag of sweets at honeydukes to send to his little cousins, who writes insightful essays, who wants to ace his NEWTs and become a healer.

it’s lance who finds shiro at the edge of the quidditch pitch, late one autumn night, broom clutched in his hand and a bout of insomnia clinging to his eyes.

“hey,” lance says gently. he’s dressed in muggle clothing, and his hands are buried deep in his front pockets. “why are you still on the ground?”

shiro’s hand tightens around the broomstick. if lance notices, he does not comment. instead, he exhales shakily, as though nervous, and starts talking about the world cup he saw three years ago. shiro remembers it—he had played it, after all—but what had been a loss for him seems like a triumph to lance.

“i made the team that year,” lance admits. “and—i hated keith, at first, because he was so much better than me, and because he knew you. so i practiced—and practiced—and practiced, hoping that i could make you proud. which is stupid, right? you don’t even know me. i mean, maybe keith mentioned me—we were rivals—but… you didn’t know me, not like i knew you, but i had to try.”

shiro doesn’t fly that night. he doesn’t fly any night that he cannot sleep, haunted by the fall no one could stop, even as fall deepens into winter and winter thaws to spring. but lance is beside him every time, their feet planted on the ground, a bubble of artificial warmth cast around them. most of their conversations are small and silly; some are deep and soul-searching; and shiro finds, as the flowers begin to bloom and the semester draws to an end, that he’s fallen in love.

“it’s about fucking time,” matt grouses when shiro confides his feelings. “seriously, i was this close to gluing you two together with a sticking charm until you figured it out—”

“i think what matt is trying to say,” allura interrupts, “is that you deserve to be happy, shiro. and if you’re happy with lance, then we support you fully.”

still, shiro is lance’s teacher for another month, and he has to remember himself. so instead of pulling lance into the heat of his embrace and kissing him until they’re both breathless, shiro decides to do the next best thing:

he waits at the edge of the quidditch pitch with two brooms in his hand instead of one, and when lance finds him—as he has always found him—shiro says, “fly with me.”

and lance does.

“Eleven.”
Tim turned in his chair, confused. He wasn’t sure what the voice was talking about. It had been an exhausting couple of days— he wasn’t even sure who the voice belonged to.
“Eleven,” Damian repeated. “That’s the eleventh time you’ve yawned in—” he put his book down and swung his wrist above his head to check his watch. “—three minutes. Is something wrong?”
“If it’s bothering you, just go to a different room.”
“I was here first.”
In the grand scheme of things, no, Tim thought, you were not. He knew better than to say it out loud, though— Damian was eyeing him suspiciously from the couch, like he was ready to pick a fight. Tim had enough to deal with already.
He bent back over his case notes. If he finished with them in the next hour, he would be back on schedule for the first time in months— he could go check that crime scene by the docks and visit with his informants on the South Side. Probably try the piers after that, and then… Tim stretched his arms over his head. And then he would…
“Twelve.”
Oh my god. Tim swung around again and glared at his little brother. Damian didn’t seem to mind— he was flat on the couch with his book held above his face, reading peacefully.
“Did you sleep last night?” he asked, without looking up from his novel.
“No.”
“How about the night before?”
“You know we have three other living rooms, right? You could have any of them to yourself.”
“I’ll take that as a no.”
“Leave me alone, Damian. I’m working.”
“You should go to bed.” Damian turned slowly to look Tim in the eyes. “It’s not healthy to stay awake that long.”
“I didn’t know you cared.”
“You’re right.” Damian put down his book and pulled out his phone instead. “I don’t. Thanks for reminding me.” He started texting, ignoring Tim completely.
Fine. Tim went back to his files, careful not to yawn— he really was tired. He just needed to power through it, was all. He’d be fine if he kept going, and maybe got some caffeine. He would give a lot for some of that just now.
By a happy coincidence, at that moment, Jason stuck his head in the door.
“Yo I made coffee. Does anybody want some?”
Damian made the face he reserved for bat droppings, coffee, and Tim. “No.”
Tim held out an arm. “Give. Now.”
Jason handed him a mug and settled on the end of Damian’s couch. He watched Tim drain half his cup in one go (it was good coffee, okay?) very intently… too intently. Tim stared back at him.
“What?”
“What you doing?”
“I’m waiting.” Jason grinned down at Damian, who was still focussed on his novel.
“Waiting for what?”
Jason just smiled. Tim stifled another yawn— the caffeine wasn’t helping. He felt incredibly tired, worse than before, even. His eyes kept closing without his permission. He laid his head on the table for a few seconds. He was… wow… wait…
“That,” said Jason. “There we go. Mission accomplished.”
Tim peeled his face away from the tabletop. “Did you just—” He stared at Jason incredulously. “Did you just drug me?!”
“Don’t accept coffee from strangers.”
Damian looked up from his book. “Okay,” he said. “Now take him to his room.”
“Damian??” Tim couldn’t believe this. Of all the— He tried to resist as Jason scooped him up and threw him over a shoulder, but he couldn’t find the energy. They started down the hallway, with Damian trailing behind them, face still planted in his book. He knocked gently into the door frame on the way through and looked up to glare at the wall.
“Listen,” Jason asked him, “do I want to know why you’ve got this grade of sedatives lying around?”
“That, mostly.” Damian shrugged in Tim’s direction.
“You’ve done this before?” Tim dangled helplessly on Jason’s back. “I swear to God I’m going to— Bruce! Help!”
Bruce had poked his head out of a his own doorway. He squinted at the three of them like he was afraid to ask— Tim reached a hand in his direction.
“They drugged me!”
“Drake’s going to sleep now,” Damian informed his father, crossing his arms.
“I’m…” Bruce apparently decided that he didn’t want to deal with it, because he turned around and walked back into his room, shutting the door behind him.
“Hey!” Tim was— He wasn’t— How the hell— “Bruce, get me an antidote! Get me some different siblings!”
No response. Tim tried to punch Jason in the back, but he was so tired that it barely made an impact. Jason laughed at him as they pushed through his door.
“Keep trying.” He let Tim fall onto the bed. Damian handed him a blanket from the guest closet, and Jason threw it over Tim.
“There. Go to sleep.”
“I hate you so much.”
“We wouldn’t have to do this if you would take care of yourself.” Jason held out a hand for Damian to high five. “Zombie squad out.”
Damian ignored the hand. “No, Todd.”
They turned off the lights and left Tim alone, seething in the dark. In thirty seconds he was asleep.

I still don't know if he ever got his coffee

I’m not 100% sure this even belongs here and I’ve posted this story elsewhere so some of you might have read it already.

Some background: I work in a rather specialised area of Forensics.

“COFFEE”

I didn’t know it but apparently that attempt at communication was aimed at me; a fact I learned a moment later when Angry Man moved right up next to me, bent over me so his face was practically in mine and barked out again;

The next day, after being introduced to a lecture theatre full of high ranking CID Officers, I stood and walked to the podium only to be greeted by one guy in the audience laughing hysterically.

I think it was the sheer relief that he wasn’t actually laughing at me that caused me to open my mouth and say to Angry Man;

“Oh did you get your coffee in the end?”

He walked out and I didn’t see him for the rest of the course.

Hi! I'm not sure, maybe you've already wrote something like this in other requests (I don't remember all your hc although I love your works!). Maybe you want to write hc about mc and her s/o had a very bad fight. The reason was stupid and it was s/o fault that they fought so badly, but now mc is really mad. How will rfa+Saeran+V make up with her?

Aww thank you! We do have one where the fight is MC’s fault here. So here you go~ Enjoy!

Zen:

  • He was off for the evening for the first time in a long time
  • But when he asked you to go out with him, you told him you already had made plans with other friends
  • It really shouldn’t have been a big deal, but Zen blew up about it–mostly because the stress of late hours was getting to him
  • “I honestly feel like I’m more invested in this relationship than you are. You can’t even take one night off for me?”
  • All he remembers after he said those words is that you abruptly hung up on him
  • A few days go by and he cools off
  • And he starts thinking more about what he said and how stupid it was
  • You were always supporting him, and it was selfish for him to say something like that
  • You weren’t answering his texts or calls, so he goes to your apartment
  • He’s waiting at your door with a bouquet of flowers and a box of your favorite chocolates
  • You don’t even have the chance to let him in as he’s showering you with apologies
  • You listen to him, but you also say you need to talk it out
  • You assure him that you’ve been pretty busy this month, and you didn’t mean to brush him off
  • In order to compromise, you two set aside one weekend a month that is reserved only for you two

Yoosung:

  • You had been wanting to meet your parents, since you’ve already met his
  • He keeps saying he can’t because of his work and school
  • But really he’s just scared he’ll be a disappointment, so he’s avoiding it
  • You keep asking him at intervals, because it really was important to you
  • On top of it, you keep talking about all this stuff you had to do
  • He doesn’t even know why he said, but it slipped out of his mouth, “You’re turning into such a nag, MC.You’re not the only one with stuff to do.”
  • You recoil and just quietly mumble, “Sorry. Didn’t know I was such a bother”
  • Yoosung is too ashamed to say anything, so he watches as you quietly leave
  • Within the hour, he’s spamming your phone with apologies
  • When you don’t respond, he feels so horrible and guilty
  • He has no idea how to make it up to you
  • He starts thinking about all the other things you were “nagging” him about and realized how much work you were piled with in addition to trying to make time for him
  • He writes down as many as he can and starts getting them done for you
  • As the days go on, you started to notice a lot of those errands you had to do were already done
  • You knew it was Yoosung, so you finally go to see him
  • He hesitantly gives you a hug and mutters another apology
  • He promises to go see your parents that weekend and also asks that you tell him when you’re getting overwhelmed with stuff

Jaehee:

  • Business at the cafe was booming
  • Jaehee just didn’t realize how on edge she was, as she was very task oriented
  • She tried to make sure everything was perfect, which meant she was cutting in the middle of your work if it wasn’t done fast enough or in a certain way
  • You calmly approach her and say you’re worried she’s taking too much on herself
  • But she takes it wrong in her stress, “Are you accusing me of being a control freak? Fine. Take all the work if you want.”
  • You get really quiet and leave the cafe to go home
  • You call in sick for the next three days, and Jaehee starts to get nervous thinking she really messed up
  • She realizes you were right about the work load and pull an all nighter trying to set up a better scheule
  • She presents it to you and tries to be professional, but in the middle she just kind of breaks down and apologizes
  • She admits that she really misses your presence, not just while working but afterwards
  • Of course, you forgive her and you two make an effort to always be honest about work and stress and your feelings

Jumin:

  • It had been a little while since you’ve been married
  • And he was against you working, since there really was no financial need
  • This was always a touchy subject, but since he’d been away on business trips a lot, you were getting lonely doing nothing in the penthouse
  • When he gets back from his long, no so successful trip, you bring up the working thing again
  • He takes everything you say wrongly and snaps, “I’m trying to make you as happy as possible. At least try to be grateful.”
  • You’re taken aback a little before you reply evenly, “How can I be happy when you won’t even let me have a purpose besides being trapped in this house?”
  • You storm into your room and lock the door behind you
  • Jumin collapses on the couch in exhaustion
  • After drifting in and out of sleep, he calms down and his head clears
  • And he realizes what an incredible mistake he made
  • He tries to go apologize, but you won’t open the door for him
  • So he sits down with his back against the door and starts giving his apology
  • When he’s done, he just waits patiently against the door
  • You eventually decide to leave the room, and you’re surprised to find him still leaning against the door
  • He looks up at you with these sorrowful eyes and you can’t help but forgive him
  • But you still want to talk things out
  • He agrees and you two are just sitting on the floor in your hall working things out
  • By the end, you’re crying, he’s holding you, and you two have come to an agreement that makes you both happy

Seven:

  • You’ve been trying to help him break some of his bad habits and start taking care of himself
  • Normally, he didn’t mind
  • But lately, with everything going on with Saeran, he’d had a lack of sleep and also had been going through a rough time
  • Those self-deprecating thoughts started creeping in again and he felt like dirt already
  • You had found he’d skipped a few meals and hadn’t been getting any exercise to clear his mind
  • So, you gave him some gentle scolding
  • But he took it to heart and lashed out, “If you think I’m that incapable, why do you even bother hanging around? I don’t ask you to come by this often.”
  • There’s a moment of tense silence before you just throw your hands up
  • “Fine. I’m out.”
  • He hears you slam the door behind you as you leave his apartment
  • He gets into his broody mood for a few hours before he cools off
  • He just feels so horrible, and he knows you’re just trying to help him
  • He knows you’re not going to take his calls, so he just goes to your apartment
  • You open the door because you’re not expecting him
  • He’s holding up a bag full of your favorite take out
  • He gives you a sheepish smile, “See…now you can see if I’m eating?”
  • You still give him the silent treatment while you eat, but you feel a little less angry after eating
  • He apologizes and you two talk through some things before you’re back to your normal selves cuddling on the couch

Saeran:

  • He was having a bad few days dealing with his emotions and things resurfacing
  • You try to help by asking him questions about how he feels and just talking soothingly
  • He gets really irritated and just cracks
  • “You’re so annoying. Just shut up!”
  • You’re really hurt by this, so you just kind of fade out and leave
  • He knows right away that it affected you, but he doesn’t bother going after you
  • He thinks it’s probably a good thing anyway for you to get some space
  • But after nearly a week of not hearing from you, he starts to get worried
  • He’s also starting to miss you
  • He tries to call you, but he goes to voicemail
  • He leaves a string of messages throughout the day
  • You legitimately weren’t by your phone, but he just thinks you finally got fed up and left him
  • His apologies are so heartfelt that you forgive him after listening to all his messages
  • You find him right away to work things out
  • He agrees to try to be more sensitive to you, and you try to be more understanding of when he gets into one of his phases

V:

  • He had been putting off eye surgery for quite awhile
  • And you knew he was hiding a reason behind his procrastination
  • So, you kept pushing him to get it
  • He just feels like you don’t understand and he’s getting on edge about it
  • He gives you a lot of silent treatment and subtly makes cutting remarks
  • But this only makes you feel horrible about it, and finally your feelings just burst out
  • “If this is about keeping ties with your past…or with Rika…just tell me instead of keeping everything secret. I thought we were done with that.”
  • You walk out and everything clicks to place in his head
  • He knew you were right about keeping secrets, and he knew his behavior wasn’t acceptable
  • He types out a letter as best as he can with his good eye
  • In it, he apologizes and promises to become a better person for you
  • He also includes some other sweet things
  • He goes to your place and slips the letter under your door
  • When you read it, you can feel your heart melting
  • You guys meet up for coffee and talk face to face about working things out
  • He eventually does get the surgery, thinking of it as symbolic of leaving behind his past

Hi! I love Dan and Phil, individually and together, but I think they're not trying to hide a romantic relationship. Don't you think that after ten years, they'd finally come out if they were? I mean there are a lot of gay couples on youtube and it would not be that big of a deal today than it was in 2007. Just wanted to hear your opinion on that. Have a nice day!

before i answer, disclaimer: i have ADD and this post might get messy since i find it difficult to concentrate and phrase myself properly (and english isn’t even my main language!)

well, i’m not gonna try and force my own views down your throat or anything but let me ramble a bit about why i wholeheartedly believe dan and phil are in a relationship;

i think i’ll start with the very fact that they recently moved to their third shared home together. say whatever you want to say but if they were indeed just friends, considering they’re in their mid 20s and 30 dont you think they’d want to move out separately and get going with their lives? and dont you think they wouldn’t be so keen on making comments about keeping living together in the long run (or forever….  a forever home say whaaaat).

now, you might argue with the good ol’ “but they benefit from living together regardless of relationship status”. fair enough. however, let me point out that it has became as clear as day especially in 2017 that they share a bedroom. i don’t know about you but i don’t think two strictly platonic friends who just moved into a duplex would want/ need to share a bedroom unless they’re uhhh mayhaps in a relationship and love to cuddle? i know a wild concept…….

and i’m sorry but if you want to argue against the shared bedroom fact with the shoebox phil claims is “his room” i have nothing to say but shake my head. no way phil actually lives in that room that has no windows and no space to move around and why is the entire room crammed in this one corner… where is the rest of the room……. and why is that room has no personal touch to it…. it’s literally just AmazingPhil props and things……… feels much more like a set to me than an actual bedroom. (also we saw phil’s mirror and hair straighter in the moon room aka “”dan’s bedroom”” which i think we can all collectively agree is simply “the bedroom”)

another thing that strikes me is how dan joins phil’s family vacations (especially in 2017) and how he seems to become part of the family much more than anyone who’s classified as “platonic” to phil would have. dan is just as much of a lester as cornelia is? dan joins the lesters just as much and as frequent as a spouse would. in fact, dan joins the lesters so much on their adventures that if im not wrong, the longest dan and phil spent apart in 2017 was not more than a weekend? that’s whack!

now these were just three things that were very prominent in 2017 regarding the belief whether dan and phil are in a relationship or not that were “behind the scenes”as in going on in their personal lives, kind of? i mean sure we see the  shoebox on AmazingPhil and the moon room in some liveshows and we get pictures from their shared vacations but now i will move on to what we see on screen across their channels

i’ll start this with a throwback to the boncas bc i think that damn speech is enough to debunk any “uwu platonic” argument, ever. i don’t think phil would have done THAT if dan didn’t mean a whole lot to him and i think saying the universe would rip in half in they go apart is a concrete proof that they themselves can;t and don’t want to imagine a life in which they are not joint at the hip.

moving on to gamingmas, which i will forever find so significant?? they broke a lot of boundaries during that month regarding of invading personal space, a bit of a more mature humor (esp on phil’s account), casual touching and a whole lot of flirting and a lot less (almost none at all) looks straight into the camera to show they are aware this is filmed or to do a “wtf is this lol” kinda thing. gamingmas was a turning point. i will forever firmly believe they did all of that in an attempt to normalize this kind of behavior on screen (and it definitely worked!)

dan and phil continued the vibes of gamingmas well into 2017 and the casual touches, lingering gazes and flirting (as well as expressing affection towards males in specific) is now the normal running theme over at dapg to a degree where we don;t even lose our shit anymore. we joke and meme but nothing strikes us as overwhelming bc we are “used” to it, which i think dan and phil aimed for i genuinely think they wanted to get to this stage of showing more comfort and more intimacy on screen without everyone and their mothers going whack over “pHaN iS rEaL!!!!!1″ and for it all to come across as oh so casual and chill!

so now you ask, “they go through all that why not just come out lol”

WELL, in my honest opinion, dan and phil will never officially come out as a couple. and you know what, maybe things would have been different if The Video didn’t leak and get spread around (twice, mind you.) but things happen and one thing lead to another and after all they have been through and how they were shaped as people and their experiences with guarding and protecting themselves and their privacy any sort of statement about whether or not they are a couple or just friends or even paid actors  (let alone labeling themselves and their sexuality bluntly) is highly unrealistic. so if you are waiting for a coming out video or whatever to convince you that won’t ever happen i’m afraid.

dan and phil value their privacy and they have every right to do so.

so yes, maybe in the early days of 2009/10 they were very flirty all across social media and on camera and maybe just maybe you need to consider the few following things regarding why they stopped with that:

  • The Video leak. like honestly? can’t and won’t find any more justified reason to feel the need for privacy and shielding yourself and making comments on how ‘het’ you are  for instance just to brush off the most intimate thing imaginable that since has been glorified and memorized by millions(?) of people who were never meant to even know this video and that declaration of affection even exists. is it scary. and i fully understand the “no homo howell” phase and how awkward they appeared together on camera for awhile, very very proud of how far they;ve came esp in 2017 though.
  • the radio show! is it a little tied to The Video leak since the second leak happened when the radio show was still fairly new but before they moved to london (into their second shared home coughs) they weren’t all that big, you know? but with the popularity of the radio show came the increasing popularity of their youtube channels and their followers/ subscribers count went up and up and their content became exposed to a much larger range of audience and these new audience/ fans were not familiar with the past (at least not at first glance) and dan and phil needed to leave “good” impression (not that being flirty and dumb wasn’t good impression but it wasn’t all that professional and now they’ve grown big enough to be in need of professionalism.)

these two things were a turning point to how dan and phil view themselves on camera and their content itself (phil sticking to the AmazingPhil PG persona) (dan with his struggles with creativity and integrity zzzz) and really, considering their story  (and how well known the early days are, and how dan and phil are aware to that…) it suddenly makes perfect sense why dan and phil aren’t in any sort of rush or need to ever come out.

however though, i think that the “post baking universe” as in the halloween 2016 baking video, the boncas speech, the european leg of tatinof, pinof 8, and gamingmas were a prep to this switch in dynamics we have seen in 2017 and that keeps very steady so far. feels as if late 2016 was so “wild” bc they were testing the waters and our reactions to see if they wanna pull through with this change.

so, even if they will never officially come out, their dynamic both on and  off screen screams that they are literal boyfriends and they don’t need to spell it out for us to know and see. anyone who cares enough about their relationship status and look at their content with it in mind can very obviously and easily see how in love these two dorks are. same love from the early days of 2009/10 only now it has shifted into a steady, secure, safe, most wonderful thing and you can see that their love towards each other in filling their hearts with pure joy.

so yeah, dan and phil are definitely in a relationship and that doesn’t seem to change anytime soon, if ever at all.

(THAT WAS SO MESSY IM SORRY BUT I HOPE MY POINT CAME ACROSS?)

If you will: It's Valentine's day, Sherlock and John are at Baker Street. Sherlock's phone buzzes with Irene's text alert and John goes all TLD again and says that for god's sake, it's Valentine's day and he should just reply. When Sherlock protests John takes up the phone to do it himself and sees that Irene & Sherlock have been texting about how Sherlock is in love with John and wants to tell him but don't know how. :) ♥

(this was supposed to be a ficlet, but turned into 1 500 words. Thank you so much for this prompt.)

Read on AO3

John stares at his book, having stop reading for a while now, but needing an excuse to stay in his chair a little longer. He doesn’t want to head up to bed yet, it’s not late and Sherlock has been quiet all day. John is hoping he’s going to play some violin tonight, maybe two or three melodies. It’s been a while since he last played, and John misses it more than he has thought he would.

But Sherlock is apparently still lost in his own thoughts, eyes closed and hands pressed against his mouth. HIs proper thinking pose, John thinks with a smile, and forces himself to look back at his book before Sherlock could realise he’s staring. He had moved back to 221B a few months ago, Rosie settling quite nicely to her new life, and strangely, so is Sherlock. John had feared it would not feel like before, but then he’s not sure it could ever feel like before. Not after all they’ve been through.

But he’s back, Sherlock is taking cases again and they still order take away far too much.

It’s good.

John waits for another ten minutes, glancing up at Sherlock now and then, before letting out a deep sigh. He should head up and have a good night sleep. He puts his book down, rubbing a hand over his face and gets up. He looks down at Sherlock for a second, “Going to bed,” he says, not expecting any answer. “Good night.”

Sherlock remains still. John takes the first step towards the stairs. The ring tone echoes in the room for long seconds.

John’s entire body freezes. His eyes feel shut, his breath catching and his hands tightening into fists before he can even pretend to be in control.

It’s not good.

It’s not good because he’s been back for a few months, and Rosie is settling quite nicely, and Sherlock is taking cases again, and they still order take away far too much, and John is desperately craving more.

He hears Sherlock moving behind him and John turns around. He’s looking at his phone, not picking it up. John’s chest aches.

“You should reply,” he hears himself saying.

Sherlock’s eyes found his, “I really should not.”

John takes a shaking breath, “It’s Valentine’s Day.”

“And?” Sherlock asks, frowning and not looking away.

God, John wants to kiss him.

“It’s Valentine’s Day, a woman who clearly has feeling for you is texting you, the least you can do is reply.”

Sherlock’s frown depends, “Irene Adler doesn’t have fe-”

“For God’s sake, Sherlock,” John snaps, “Why is it so difficult to understand?! You could have it all, right there, with just one text!”

Sherlock stands up, passing by him without another word, and walks to the kitchen.

“Are you even listening to me?” John asks, a bit too harshly, but at this point he’s barely aware of what he’s saying.

“What is the point,” Sherlock replies calmly, “You don’t listen to me either.”

John lets out a nervous laugh and shakes his head, hands shaking. He can’t believe this, can’t understand why Sherlock would miss a chance like this. He deserves to be happy, deserves to be in love, and now that he has the chance, he’s not doing a damn thing about it.

“Fine,” John says, “Then I’ll do it.”

He moves before Sherlock can react, knowing he only has a few seconds. He unlocks Sherlock’s phone, opens the text and finds the name he’s looking for immediately.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Sherlock. Have you told him yet?

John frowns, his eyes finding the previous texts on their own violation.

So, I'm really curious as to what kind of "Awkward Romantic Crap" Keith did during the first three weeks of dating Lance when they were "boyfriends-who-don't-know-how-to-be-boyfriends" XDD Could you maybe give some examples?

I could, but, really, isn’t stuff like that sometimes best left to the imagination? ;) … Right, who am I kidding? I’m a bit sleepy, so my apologies — I’m gonna just give ya one example of Keith being an awkward turtle of a person :)

Awkward Romantic Crap, The First

Keith adores Lance a stupid amount. He spent several months contemplating (between the denying and the repressing because feelings why?) the many ways he would kiss that loudmouth into silence, give him all the reasons as to why he was wanted and valuable, not allowing him the chance to doubt himself ever again, but now they were boyfriends and Keith … He just couldn’t find the words.

So he tried with this one romantic gesture — he tried to get Lance flowers.

Lance had no allergies (Keith sacrificed his dignity to ask Hunk), the flowers were normal and totally not flesh-eating (Keith gave up a little more pride to ask Coran for where to get a bouquet), and flowers were a thing couples did (according to Shiro, and by this point Keith sort of wanted to live inside Red and never face the team again).

So the reason why this became Awkward Romantic Crap is because Keith just could not find the right time to give them to Lance.

There had to be some kind of special boyfriend-sense he was lacking because it never felt right to just suddenly give Lance flowers. And he really didn’t want to do it in front of the others, and his private time with Lance was hard to come by and most of it they spent feeling out their relationship and having some truly humiliating (albeit necessary) talks about boundaries or whatever.

They bouquet stayed in his room for a week, the special space blooms starting to droop.

Until Lance came into his room, rubbing the back of his neck, sheepishly asking if they could have a date-night on the observation deck couch … And going mute halfway through his question when he saw the flowers.

Silence for a few seconds. Then, “Uh, who’s brought you flowers? Wait, was it that chick with the Elvis hair? Keith, Keith did you bond with another mullet? Are you … Okay, I mean, no, I’m being dumb. You can get flowers from admirers, it’s fine. Just … you could have mentioned it? Do we have to talk about this kind of stuff too? Or am I being, like, possessive if I ask you to tell me? Oh god, am I a controlling boyfriend —”

Keith shut him up with a kiss (maybe this made his heart speed up in the most awesome ways, but that didn’t negate the strategic value for getting a word in when Lance was full-ramble.) And then, trying to keep the blush down and failing, he said quickly, “They’re for you. They were … I got them, a week back, and I just … I couldn’t figure out when to give them to you?”

“A week — were you hiding them whenever we were hanging out in here?”

Keith didn’t answer except to turn even redder.

Lance wasn’t a silly jackass all of the time (though Keith actually found that silly jackass behaviour kind of fun and/or sweet because he was doomed), so he didn’t mock Keith at all — he just smiled and said, “Uh, you can give them to me now, if you want?”

Instantly, Keith reached over to the vase, pulling the flowers out, a few navy blue petals falling as he all but thrust them into Lance’s chest, the stems dripping water. “These are for you.”

“And what’s the occasion?” Lance asked, pink blossoming along his cheeks, down his neck.

“Just … just that I … I’m good with us. Now. And … happy. Because of you. So, thanks. For your existence.”

Lance’s face was doing a thing — Keith couldn’t tell if he was fighting back laughter or tears, but then two arms wrapped around his shoulders, bringing him into a soft yet lingering kiss. Satin petals brushed against Keith’s face as Lance still gripped the bouquet tightly.

When they both pulled away, Lance was grinning and Keith didn’t feel so awkward anymore.

Except when his boyfriend started speaking again … “Dude, would you have just let my flowers die before you grew a spine and gave them to their rightful owner? For shame, Red, for shame.” He dragged the bouquet into the limited space between them. “Look at my precious babies! Did you change the water? You’re supposed to change the water, Keith, you can’t just —”

Keith crushed the flowers between their chests in order to gain access to that irritating (delicious) mouth. Lance wailed about his flowers even as their lips met again. Keith let Lance go long enough to get the flowers some fresh water, watching him carefully tend to the blooms that were still intact.

And then Keith dragged him in for more kisses — he was always better with actions than words. Except flower-giving, apparently. But Keith had learned that he could do that kind of romantic crap, at least once. Better luck next time — he’d give them to Lance in front of everyone, come hell or high water, damn it.

(And maybe, at some point in the future, Keith finds a few dark blue flowers pressed between the pages of an old Altean book Allura had given Lance for his birthday.

Keith will blush again, cringe at the memory, and then kiss his boyfriend stupid when he walks through his bedroom door because he truly adores Lance a stupid amount, and Lance always appreciates his awkwardness, sees his efforts as the most sincere gestures of love, and Keith can’t help but see any mockery that did come his way as endearing.

So doomed.)

I am off to bed, and oh so tired, but hopefully this drabble makes some kind of sense. Hope you found it both awkward and enjoyable! ;D *hugs* Many thanks for asking!

Stiles Stilinski Imagine- Save Me Dumbass

Request- Oh my word I love your writing! Could I request a Stiles imagine where the reader and him go on like a cute date but then the reader gets kidnapped and is just really sarcastic with her captures and Stiles and Scott try and save the reader in the most unconventional and hilarious ways possible. P.S. I love your writing.

Author’s Note- First of all, thank you love. This request was a really cute concept, so warning it is pretty long. I hope you enjoy x

You ran out to Stiles’ jeep on your driveway. “Hey beautiful” he beamed as you opened the door and sat down. “Hey handsome” you returned, clipping in your seatbelt. “So what did you chose for date night?” you asked, as he took the jeep off park. “A drive in movie” he smiled. “Good choice” you nod, as he began to drive. When you arrived it was an abnormally busy day there, I guess it was because tickets were half price due to it closing down within the next few months. “What film is showing?” you asked, staring at all the people walking around with popcorn, drinks and snacks. “It’s Taken 2″ Stiles answered, after the lady passed you your tickets. You picked a space and reversed into it. You then both climbed out with all your stuff and set up in the back of the jeep. Stiles had packed blankets, pillows, food and even fairy lights to hang up. “You’re cute” you whispered. “I know” he winked playfully. You rolled your eyes and he kissed your forehead. You watched the film curled into your boyfriend’s chest, that was until you decided to need the bathroom. “I’ll walk you up there” Stiles offered. “It’s fine, plus when we get back people would have taken all of your cute stuff” you said climbing out. “I don’t care about my fairy lights, I care about you” he pouted, like a puppy. “Well I do, and I promise I’ll be back in five minutes tops” you sounded adamant. “Okay, well be safe” Stiles said hesitantly, not being able to hide his concern. “I will” you smiled sweetly, kissing him and walking off.

You hadn’t even walked four steps when your phone started to blow up with notifications. ‘You okay?’, ‘No guys are looking at you are they?’ ‘Tell them I have a bat and a werewolf best friend’ ‘Y/n you better reply I’m panicking’ . You stood still and turned around. “Stiles you can literally still see me” you shouted. “Just making sure” he called back. You shook your head and laughed, before continuing on your journey. You and Stiles text back and forth the whole way there, because he wanted to make sure you were completely safe. ‘I’m going into the bathroom now, I’ll text you the second I’m out’. ‘Okay baby’. The toilets were packed when you got in there, but once you came out of the stall they were completely empty. You washed your hands and dried them on your clothes, to get out of there as quick as you could. You couldn’t deny that something didn’t quite feel right. You got outside and reached for your phone in your back pocket. You started to text your boyfriend, when you felt like someone was watching you. ‘I’m on my way bac-’ you started to type, before you felt someone grab your shoulder firmly. You instantly turned around to see a hooded and masked figure, you also noticed that there was no longer people walking around, as it was now the climax of the film. “But it’s date night” you whined to yourself, being no stranger to the bad in Beacon Hills. You weren’t exactly terrified, as you’d come face to face with tons of supernatural creatures by now, and a kidnapper was hardly the scariest. Stiles must have seen that you had been ‘typing’ on the chat for a while, so he called you out of concern, which the capturer’s attention was automatically drawn to, giving you enough time to elbow him In the dick and run. You ran to the closest staff car park, which was a lot darker and quieter because no one was around. You ducked behind a car, realising that there was more than one kidnapper looking for you. You turned your phone onto silent and dimmed the brightness, before calling Stiles. “Are you okay, where are you?” he immediately answered. “There are about three masked people looking for me- and I’m in the staff car park” you whispered into your phone. “Okay I’m coming, don’t panic and just stay on the phone to me okay” you could hear the own panic in his voice, yet he tried to remain calm to not worry you. “Okay” you breathed. You looked under the car to see if you could see their feet, as they looked for you, and whatever Stiles was saying became blurred as you couldn’t see any of them. You stood up slowly and turned around, ready to make another run for it. “Oh shit- you scared me” you couldn’t help but add the sarcastic comment at the end, as you came face to face with them all. They covered your mouth with tape and shoved an empty pillow case over your head, before shoving you in the trunk of a car. Just great.

They must have sedated you or something, because the next thing you knew, you were waking up in the middle of an empty warehouse, on like the sixth floor up. You opened your eyes, seeing you were tied to a chair by your wrists. Shortly after that, you let out a small splutter. “What’s so funny?” one of the people spoke, feeling mocked. “It’s just very cliché” you criticised, with a smirk. “Someone has balls” the one that grabbed you said (the first capturer). “Clearly bigger than yours” you commented with a fake pout, referring to how he groaned like a little bitch earlier. “I like her” the third spoke, which you now knew was female. “Why don’t you take your masks off then, and we can become better acquainted”  you smiled falsely. “No can do I’m afraid, boss’ orders” the second male spoke. “And what would your boss want with me?” you asked, furrowing your brows. “You know if I was in your position, I’d be a lot nicer and do a lot of begging and less of the sarcastic comments” the first taunted. You stuck your finger up at him, with the little mobility you had and mouthed the words ‘Fuck You’, before looking back to the others for answers. Which caused the two of them to laugh, and for him to storm out like a child, slamming the warehouse door shut. “All we know is that we have to keep you here, until someone of more value comes along” the girl shrugged. Their boss clearly knows about your supernatural friends, and rather your capturers know a lot more than they’re making out, or their boss has genuinely sent them in blind, to see what Scott and the pack are really capable of. “So I’m the bait?” you quickly asked, not wanting to give too much away. “I guess you could say that” he spoke. The next few hours were torture, simply because you were that fucking bored. They didn’t ask questions, no interrogation, hell you were even waiting for a physical altercation to have something to do. The only fun you had, came from bullying the first capturer, who had stormed off a total of ten times because you were so mean to him. The worst part was that you couldn’t even try to save yourself with the training Allison had given you, because literally all they did was sit and watch your every move all day. You could blink and one of them would jump up, gun at the ready. Luckily the first capturer didn’t have a gun, like the other two, because you certainly wouldn’t have left unharmed.

Meanwhile, Scott and Stiles were having a lot more of a ‘productive’ day than yourself. I say ‘productive’ as they weren’t really getting anywhere, but the pair of them were really trying. Bless them. They didn’t want to involve the rest of the pack or Stiles’ dad yet, until they at least knew more information. Which of course they didn’t have, because the people that took you were clearly a new threat to the pack- and partially because they were acting like nervous wrecks. Stiles had stripped his murder board and replaced it with your case. In other words all he had done was place a picture of you an him together, with a string attaching it to a terrible drawing of three stick people. Scott on the other hand, was sitting on the bed searching the bestiary for answers. Which of course, would have been no help what so ever. “There’s nothing about a kidnapping creature that hunts in threes” Scott finally concluded, shutting it. “So maybe they’re not even supernatural?” Stiles suggested. They looked at each other intensely for a second, before both brushing it off and saying “Nahh” in unison. In the pair of their minds, anything surrounding the crime in Beacon Hills was supernatural based. “I could try and track her by scent” Scott suddenly remembered he was a werewolf. “You don’t have to” Stiles suddenly remembered. He grabbed his phone off his desk and waved it at Scott. “You’re going to call her?” Scott asked, confused. “No, I’m going to track her phone” he corrected, as if Scott should have known. “You have a tracking device on her phone Stiles?” he asked, judging his best friend’s overprotective and concerning behaviour. “I have a tracking device in all of your phones- Scott we all agreed to it months ago” Stiles stated. “Oh yeah” he nod his head, recalling the pack meeting on it. “To the jeep” Stiles shouted, very hyperactively. “Never say that again” Scott commented, trailing behind him.

“My boyfriend will find me” you said smugly, fishing for conversations to cure your boredom more than anything. “Good luck with that” one of them retort. “He will” you couldn’t help but have the last word. “Do you still have that tape?” the first capturer spoke again. “And he’s going to destroy you” you carried on. “Your boyfriend wont do shit” he said, getting into your face. “Well I certainly will” you bit back. He hovered confused above you for a second, that was before you forcefully kicked him in the balls, causing him to drop to the ground in pain this time. You smirked and raised your eyebrows, and the other two couldn’t help but laugh. He then stood up angrily (Still holding his balls) and grabbed the gun out of the girl’s hand. “No don't” the other male shouted, stepping in front of you. “If you kill her now, without getting whoever the fuck we’re supposed to be luring here, we wont get paid” he spoke In a low voice, which you managed to just about hear. “Yeah you cant kill me, I’m the bait” you smiled both sarcastically and smugly. He reluctantly gave the gun to the second capturer, who then passed it back to the girl. ‘You’re screwed’ you mouthed, so only the first capturer could see, after realising that they didn’t know anything about your supernatural friends. He clenched his fists and breathed, you were relying on Scott and Stiles because you knew that motherfucker wouldn’t hesitate to kill you.

“The signal ends here” Scott pointed out, staring at the locater on Stiles’ phone. He then pulled up into the empty car park and the two of them hopped out, slamming the doors shut. The sound of that echoed into the windows of the warehouse, alerting them of the arrival. “We’ve got company” the girl said, as her and the second capturer made their way to glance out the window. You squinted your eyes shut for a moment, out of their stupidity. When you opened your eyes, the first capturer was standing there with a cocky expression, he mouthed the words ‘show time’ to you, before joining the others to look out the window- and grabbing the girl’s gun once again. Meanwhile Scott and Stiles stood by the jeep oblivious, they picked up your smashed phone from the floor. “Maybe she’s in there” Scott suggested, as they looked at the large warehouse. “Nahh” they both said in unison once again. “That’s what they want us to think” Stiles said wisely, as they both went to get back into the jeep. All of a sudden, one gun shot was let off. “Stiles!” you screamed, not being able to see what was happening. You then began to pull against your restraints desperately. “Omg” Stiles said in shock, as Scott pulled out the bullet from his own arm. He turned to look up at the window, his eyes glowing bright red. “What The Fuck” the second capturer said in disbelief. “GET THE FUCKING DOOR” the first kidnapper shouted, while continuing to shoot at the pair of them from the window. The other two then ran and stood facing the door, the girl stood defenceless behind the second guy. The first capturer quickly joined them, after Scott had managed to make it to the building effortlessly. You had managed to cut one of your restraints, and were now tugging at the much tighter second one, when the door burst open. You couldn’t look, all you heard was the sound of gunshots, growling, and bodies flying around the room. You then turned to see Scott standing, looking down at the three of them on the floor. You breathed in relief, and then your eyes widened when you couldn’t see your stupid, wreckless, irrational, smart, loving, sweet boyfriend. That was until he stumbled into the room a few seconds later, completely out of breath, “Sorry, he got up all of those stairs a lot quicker than me” he spoke slowly between breaths. You looked at him and shook your head, “Save me dumbass” you interrupted. He then came over and untied your other restraint, before helping you up. “You found me” you then smiled at him sweetly. “Because I love you” he replied, cupping your cheeks and pulling you into a passionate kiss. “I helped” Scott interrupted jokingly. You and Stiles pulled away and smiled at each other adoringly. “And come here you” you turned around and pulled Scott into a hug. That’s when you saw the first capturer half standing up, attempting to raise his gun to shoot Scott. Stiles must have clocked on because before you knew it, Stiles had made his way over to him. “Where are you going?” he asked, punching him in the face, knocking him back over. Which low-key turned you on, because who doesn’t fancy badass Stiles? “Who sent you?” Scott asked, as you also made your way over to him. He simply let out a laugh through his bloody mouth, and spat on he ground to show his lack of respect. “Asshole!” you muttered, punching him in the mouth, knocking him out cold. Which low-key turned Stiles on, because who doesn’t fancy badass Y/n?

The three of you climbed into the jeep. “Thanks again dad” Stiles said out of his window. “I’ll take them in for questioning, I’ll help you guys write up your police statements later, with alterations I assume” The Sherriff nodded, relating to the supernatural parts the three of you will need to edit out. “Thanks” the three of you said In unison, as Stiles started the jeep. “So is that all they said, their boss is after one of us?” Scott asked, as you began to drive away. “Yeah, that’s all” you said in agreement, after telling them both all that had happened. “Looks like we’ll need to do some research, and call for a pack meeting” Scott suggested. “Tomorrow then” Stiles said. “Why not tonight?” Scott asked. “Because me and my girlfriend here, have a date night we need to compensate for” Stiles grinned, causing you to smile. “Oh I see-” Scott laughed. It had been one of the weirdest days of your life, and one you were surely never going to forget, you were glad to have such great friends and a perfect boyfriend to stay with you. No matter how completely and utterly stupid they can be, you wouldn’t change them for the world.

Sorry its long I know, and sorry if the request didn’t turn out as funny as you would have wanted, but I sort of ran away with the plot x

obscenegirl  asked:

Hey,can you do one where he meets you somewhere, like you meet at a coffee shop and talk a lot but don't exchange phones or anything, and he writes a song or looks somehow for ya to see if he can find you? (Yeah, carolina,i know hahaha)

I changed this just a tiny little bit. x

It had been so long since Harry enjoyed quality time with Lux. He was, of course, used to seeing her but not one-on-one. So when Lou told him she was sick and Lux needed someone to pick her up from her ballet class, Harry was more than happy to do it, informing her that they’d be also getting ice cream.

“You have to go inside and ask for her. They don’t let the kids out, they make them wait inside with their teacher.” Lou had told him.

So when Harry arrived, that’s what he did. “I’m here to pick up Lux Atkin.” He told the receptionist.

“Oh, yes, Lou told us you are. But they’re still in the middle of practicing a song.” The woman smiled politely at him.

Harry nodded with a smile. “I’ll just wait here.”

“You can go inside if you want. Their teacher doesn’t mind.”

The woman led him to the room where soft music was coming out of, him looking from the window of the door, seeing small twirling figures and the back of a tall one. The woman opened the door gently for him, Harry thanking her quietly before he got inside and waited by the door, watching.

He tried to watch the adorable kids in their tutus and their twirling and their plies but he couldn’t. His eyes were fixed on the adult teaching them.
You were graceful and calm, facial expression soft and cheerful as you directed the kids in a non-frightening way.
His breath hitched when your eyes met his, feeling his heart start to race and his hands to get sweaty as you gave him a warm smile before diverting your attention back to the kids.

When the music stopped, Harry straightened his posture and wiped his hands on his pants as he got himself ready.

“Good job today, sweethearts.” You clapped for all of them, making them cheer and hug each other before they began hugging your legs and getting close to you, making you giggle.

Harry smiled subconsciously, looking at your happy face before looking at Lux who looked at you as if you put the stars in the sky.

“I’ll miss you, too, I’ll miss you, too. But I believe someone is waiting for one of you.” You said, smiling towards Harry, making all the kids look.

“Harry!” Lux screamed before running towards Harry, hugging his legs tightly. “Did you see me dancing?!”

Harry bent down, carrying her in his arms. “I did. You were amazing, love.”

“I want you to meet Miss Y/N!” Lux said excitedly before she turned towards you, “Miss Y/N! Miss Y/N!”

You looked at her in Harry’s arms, walking towards them. “What is it Lux?”

“I want you to meet Harry! Harry, meet Miss Y/N. Miss Y/N, meet Harry!” Lux then clapped with a grin after she gestured with her hands.

“It’s nice to meet you. Lux talks about you a lot.” You grinned, offering your hand for a handshake.

“Does she?” Harry smiled, shaking your hand. You only nodded. “I’m glad she does. I’m not always around, ’s good to know she remembers me.” Harry smiled at Lux who giggled, resting her head on Harry’s chest.

“Awe, of course she does.” You cooed.

“Actually, I’m going to take Lux for some ice cream. Maybe you could join and tell me some of the stuff you know about me?” Harry picked his balls from the ground — not literally — and asked.

“Oh,” You smiled before looking at the half empty dance room. “There are still three kids waiting for their parents and I should be waiting with them.”

“It’s okay, we can wait, can’t we, Lux?”

“Yes!”

You grinned and nodded.
Soon enough, you had changed into your jeans and hoodie and took your hair out of your bun, putting it in a ponytail instead.

“Sorry I kept you waiting this long.” You apologized sheepishly as you reached Harry and Lux who were waiting for you by the door outside.

“It’s definitely no problem. Shall we get going then?” Harry raised his eyebrows with a dimpled face, pointing towards the door. You nodded, thanking him when he opened the door for you.

You opened the car’s backseat door for Harry as he buckled Lux in before he rushed to the passenger side, opening the door for you.

“Are you going to be opening all the doors now?” You giggled, getting inside.

“Is it impressive?” He joked, his hand on your opened door.

“Oh, very.”

“Then yes, I’m going to be opening all the doors.” Harry chuckled before closing the door and rushing to his side.

“You know, you’re a complete stranger. You could be kidnaping me.” You shrugged with a smile as you buckled your seatbelt.

“A nice kidnapper who’s taking you and a kid to have ice cream.” He grinned before driving off.

//

Sitting on the shop, Lux finished her small ice cream and was now playing games on Harry’s phone while you and Harry hit it off.

“I have been dancing since I was little. I have always wanted to be Odette in Swan Lake in the Royal Opera House.” You chuckled, looking down before licking your ice cream.

“And how is that turning out for you?” Harry asked with genuine interest.

“Let’s say I have been having my butt kicked with practice for months now for this week’s audition.” You grinned, blushing.

“Oh! You’re auditioning?” Harry asked with happiness in his tone. You only nodded. “I’ve seen you with the kids today, you’re wonderful. I’m sure you’ll do great.”

“This might sound a little weird but you kind of remind me of home. Your flower ring,” You pointed, “I have a drawing just like it on my childhood bedroom’s wall.”

Harry grinned at this. “Where do you come from?”

“Carolina.”

“And what is a Carolina girl like yourself doing in the lovely land of UK?” Harry asked in a more posh accent than he already had, leaning on the table.

“Alright don’t laugh, it’s kind of cliché, kind of lame,” You pointed at him with your index finger warningly.

Harry raised his hands defensively, shaking his head. “I would never.”

“Well,” You folded the ice cream wrapping paper and put it in the ashtray before looking at him. “My grandma told me to follow my dreams before she died. She knew how much I really wanted to play Odette, have performances in the opera, all that. She left me a whole load of share of money just for that. So here I am, in the lovely land of U.K.” You shrugged before blushing, looking down, “It’s very lame, I know.”

“Hey, hey, it’s definitely not lame. That’s amazing. You’re chasing your dreams and that’s honestly amazing. I’m sorry about your grandma.” Harry smiled softly, reaching out to put his hand on top of yours.

You shook your head with a smile, “Thank you. Really.”

“Now, tell me all about you. I think I’m up for strawberry lemonade.”

For two hours you and Harry talked about everything and anything before Harry had to drive you back to your car by the dance studio. You hugged Lux goodbye, Lux saying how much she’ll miss you before you walked to your car, Harry following you.

“Thank you for the ice cream. I had fun.” You smiled, unlocking your car before turning to face Harry.

“Thank you for coming. I’m glad you did, I had fun, too. I’m sure Lux won’t shut up about this for the next 60 years.” Harry chuckled.

You laughed, shaking your head. “She must be very sleepy and tired.”

Harry nodded, “Yeah, I’m taking her straight home anyway,” He gestured behind his back at Lux as you nodded. “Hey, uh, good luck with the audition.”

You opened the car door, smiling at him. “Thanks, Harry. I’ll see you later?”

“Yeah, yeah, definitely,” Harry nodded rapidly. Just as you were about to get in the car, you turned around, placing a quick peck on his cheek with a blush before getting inside your car, giving him one last smile before driving off.

“Did you see that?” Harry asked Lux in disbelief.

“I did!”

For the rest of the day, Harry definitely couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. It was when he was going to bed that it fell.

“I didn’t take her number!”

//

“Hello?” Lou answered Harry’s call after the third ring in the afternoon.

“Hey, Lou, it’s Harry.”

“I have a called ID, Harry. Stop saying it’s you every time you call me.”

“Hey! Just making sure you know it’s me.” He defended himself.

Lou scoffed, “What is it that you want? I know you.”

“Right, so,” He cleared his throat, “Do you, by chance, happen to have Y/N’s phone number? Lux’s dance teacher?”

Harry groaned when he heard Lou laugh hysterically. “No way!”

“Aw, come on, Lou.” He groaned.

“Okay, okay,” She calmed down, “But no. I don’t actually. I only have the number of the studio and very sorry to burst your bubble but yesterday was Y/N’s last day as the kids’ dance teacher there.”

“What?! Why?” Harry slumped in his chair.

“Something about her own thing, Od-”

“Odette. Practice for Odette. Alright, thanks, Lou!” Harry was quick to hang up before he rushed to his room where he changed his clothes for something more ordinary for the world to see other than his avocado printed boxers.

He felt like this was a scene out of the movie, laughing to himself in the car as he thought that this would be a good Rom-Com which might have alerted the neighbor car in the red light, the man twice his age looking at him warily.
Once he reached the dance studio, he quickly rushed there to open the door, confused when it wouldn’t budge.
Just then, his eyes fell on the “CLOSED” sign before diverting to the schedule time.

“MONDAY-FRIDAY. OPEN AT 7 AM TILL 2 AM.”

It was Saturday.

“For fuck’s sake.” He groaned, walking back slowly to his car where he sat quietly for a moment before he perked up in his seat, taking out his phone and opening the Safari app.

‘Royal Opera House Swan Lake auditions 2017.’ He typed, instantly clicking on the first link he saw.

Once he found that the auditions were tomorrow, he nodded determinedly to himself before he drove back home where he sat, making scenarios in his head and watching ballet videos for the rest of the evening.

Harry was restless at night. He was tossing and turning, even hummed to himself to sleep but nothing was happening. It was when his mind drifted to your long conversation at the shop that he found lyrical words flowing in his mind, almost humming a new tune to himself. With a newfound energy, Harry was sat on his desk, his brown leather journal sprawled in front of him as he wrote what was on his mind.

//

Harry was nervous to say the least. When he entered the opera house and got greeted as someone famous, it was one of the few moments he appreciated his status when he was allowed to be in the room where the Odette auditions were held. He sat in the chair beside the critic and professional choreographer, watching as different women auditioned. Some were good, some made mistakes and some Harry just couldn’t focus on.
It was when he saw you enter in a beige classical tutu, hair in a neat bun and a friendly smile that Harry’s breath hitched, his arm slipping from the arm rest, startling him as he sat up.

Your eyes met his and widened. He only gave you a discreet thumbs up and a grin, watching you smile as you looked down before the music started.
He was charmed. His eyes were fixed on your figure as you danced, putting your everything in it. It was when the critic beside him whispered “Amazing” under his breath that he grinned.
You bowed after you were finished, smiling at the happy judges before catching Harry’s eyes for a moment and walking gracefully out of the stage.

Harry was quick to thank the judges for having him, putting a word in for you.

“I might not be professional but I do know someone passionate about something when I see them. Miss Y/N was wonderful. Good day.”

He asked the stage director about your whereabouts, thanking him when he escorted him towards the dressing room. He knocked, hearing a different woman’s voice tell him to come in. He did.

He found a room full of ballerinas, some in the regular wear and some still in the tutus. “Hi, I’m looking for Y/N?”

They smiled to each other before you walked over to him from the other side of the room with a grin. “What are you doing here?” You asked quietly, holding his arms as you both walked outside again, closing the door behind you.

“What am I doing here…” He trailed. What was he supposed to say? That he couldn’t stop thinking about how much of an idiot he was that he didn’t take your phone number and that he couldn’t stop thinking about you so much that he had written a song about you? “I came to support you?”

You smiled, “I’m letting you off the hook this time.”

“I heard the man who sat beside me, the blond one, say amazing when you were done.” He whispered childishly before pretending to look around as if searching if anyone might have heard him.

Your eyes widened, “No!” You whisper shouted.

“Yes!”

You tackled him in a hug, squealing in his shoulder. “Oh my God, I hope I make it.”

Harry hummed in satisfaction, hugging you back. “You were beautiful out there.”

You giggled, pulling back. “As much as I actually like this,” You gestured between you, “But why actually are you here?”

Harry sighed, defeated. “Alright, I wanted your phone number after I realized I forgot to take it. Lou said she doesn’t have your number and that you left, studio was closed and I might have added another song to my solo album.”

“You-You did all that to get my number?”

“Well, I was also hoping for a date?” Harry chuckled nervously.

You grinned, “Remember when I told you about my grandma story and called it cliché?” Harry nodded. “Forget it. This is 10 times more cliché.” You giggled.

“Does that mean you don’t go on a date with me?”

“Of course I will!”

After changing back to your clothes and walking slowly with Harry towards the exit, hands brushing against each other, your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“What do you mean you added a new song to your solo album?”

••

Obviously the “amazing” part by the critic indicates that you got the part because you’re THE shit and owned the stage.
Also, it’s so ironic writing about ballet and all that while I’m finishing a box of pizza by myself. Hope you liked it! x

The One Where He's Needy - Zach Herron Imagine

Requested: Yes, by anon

Summary: When Zach finally gets to see you after a couple months of being apart, all he wants to do is spend some time alone with you and he gets frustrated when he doesn’t have you all to himself.

Word count: 992

A/N: I got a lot of Zach feels after I wrote this. I love that little bean. I hope you like this anon, thanks for the request! Xx

You knocked on the door of the Why Don’t We house, waiting impatiently for someone to open the door. You couldn’t wait to see Zach. It had been a long couple of months while they had been on tour. You weren’t able to see your boyfriend Zach for the entire tour due to their busy schedule and it was the longest the both of you have ever gone without seeing each other. Words couldn’t describe how much you missed him.

You were about to bring your hand up to knock on the door again when the door suddenly opened, making you jump slightly.

“Y/N!” Corbyn grinned at you and pulled you in for a warm hug.

“Corbyn!” You laughed and hugged him back. This kid was always full of energy.

“Zach!” He called out, pulling you inside and shutting the door behind you.

“What?!” A husky voice yelled from another room in the house. You smiled to yourself as you felt the butterflies kick in. This feeling you got when you were around Zach would never truly go away, despite the fact that the two of you have been dating for almost two years.

“There’s someone here for you!” Corbyn yelled back, giving you a thumbs up and a knowing smile before disappearing to another room. You shook you head and smiled at Corbyn’s behaviour, nothing had changed in the past couple of months.

Not a moment later, Zach was seen in the entryway with wide eyes and a giant smile gracing his face. Oh, how you missed that smile. You couldn’t help but gawk at how good he looked. Despite only wearing sweatpants, a plain shirt and his Gucci slides, he still looked absolutely gorgeous. You wondered how one human being could always look so good without even trying.

“Hey,” Zach grinned and pulled you into his arms.

You couldn’t help but smile too as you felt Zach’s arms around you for the first time in two months. The warmth of his body against yours brought back the comfort you’ve been missing all this time. You breathed in his musky cologne in satisfaction, it felt so good to finally see him again.

“Hi, babe,” You smiled back, standing on your tippy toes to place a small kiss on Zach’s lips. “You look good.”

Zach smirked at your comment and reached his hand lower to pinch your butt, making you squeal. “So do you, baby.”

“Hey!” You laugh and grab his hand in yours. “C'mon, I want to say hi to the rest of the boys.”

You dragged Zach, hand in hand, and followed the sound of laughter from the kitchen. You weren’t even in the kitchen yet when you heard Jonah telling someone off for being childish.

“Daniel, what are the odds that you’ll eat this entire watermelon in one go?” You heard Jack say as you and Zach entered the kitchen.

Daniel, Jack and Jonah were currently standing around the kitchen island, all facing the giant watermelon that was placed in the centre of it.

Daniel sighed. “Okay, ready? Three, two, one-”

“Seven!” They both yelled at the same time, earning an eye roll from Jonah.

“Ha!” Jack yelled happily, laughing at Daniel’s misfortune.

“Ugh! Why does this always happen to me?” Daniel groaned, getting a spoon out of the drawer next to him so he could start eating the watermelon. “I’m going to feel so sick after this.”

“Nothing’s changed boys, I see?” You smirk as you leant on the kitchen island too.

“Y/N!” Jack yelled out excitedly.

Daniel waved his hand and gave you a smile, unable to talk with a mouth full of watermelon.

“Hey, Y/N!” Jonah smiled. “I had no idea you’d come to visit so soon, I thought you were only coming next week.”

“Yeah, I decided to come visit you guys earlier. I couldn’t wait another week,” You said with a smile as Zach snaked his arms around your waist and pressed your back against his chest, needing to be close to you. He rested his head in the crook of your neck, pressing his lips against it slightly knowing that it would drive you absolutely mad. “So how was the tour?”

“It was amazing, honestly,” Daniel chimed in. “All the shows were lit and the fans were aweso-”

“Ugh, can we finish this catch up session another time? I just want to spend some time alone with you, Y/N,” Zach interrupted, frustrated with the lack of attention he was receiving from you.

“Okay, okay!” You laugh, not sure where this neediness was coming from. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy it though. It was nice sometimes to confirm that Zach needed you as much as you needed him.

The smirks worn on the boys’ faces did not go unnoticed by you as you both exited the kitchen and made your way to the backyard. Zach settled himself on the outdoor lounge and you sat next to him, the view of the starry night before you, enclosing the two of you in a world of your own.

“Come here, I want to cuddle,” Zach whined, holding his arms out for you. You happily obliged, loving this side of Zach that you didn’t get to see very often. You scooted closer to Zach and wrapped your arms around him and pulled him closer to you.

“What is with you today, babe?” You grinned at him and ran a hand through his soft brown hair. “You’re extra needy.”

Zach closed his eyes and leaned into your touch, savouring the gentleness of your nimble fingers. “I don’t know. I just missed you, okay?” He said defensively.

“Okay,” You whispered and looked into his beautiful eyes, smiling like a Cheshire cat. They were almost as dark as the night sky that surrounded the two of you, but they held all the light in your life. He was the light of your life.

don't be a fool

Summary;  Shawn’s newest tour schedule forces him to make a decision, resulting in a broken relationship between him and Y/N.

PART TWO || PART THREE

MASTERLIST || REQUEST HERE

It had been one of the best two years and ten months of your life — ask any one of your friends and they’d agreed with you when they say that you’ve never been happier. It sounds cheesy, and almost naive to be so invested in a relationship at such a young and ripe age, but it was inevitable when you had a guy as passionate, loving, and charming as the one and only Shawn Mendes

Despite his hectic schedule, Shawn always found a way to make time for you, and that’s what you loved about him. You were understanding of how he wouldn’t always be able to be home and in turn, Shawn always made the days and nights he was with you the best. The amount of trust you had in your boyfriend was like none other – his arms eventually became your second home. You trusted Shawn with all your love and heart.

Aside from the occasional disagreements that would usually be resolved before the two of you would go to bed, your relationship with Shawn had surprisingly gone somewhat smoothly. That was until the topic of Shawn going back on tour to debut his newest album was brought up at the dinner table. Of course the idea of Shawn touring around the world and ultimately being away from you and his hometown was nothing new to you. In fact, he’s been away from you months at a time because of his career.

It wasn’t the distance that scared you when Shawn brought up touring, oh no, not at all – it was rather the crack in his voice and look of pure terror when you asked him how long his upcoming tour would last. That’s when you felt the goosebumps ride up your legs and spine, and the color completely drain from your face. There was no way this would result in something good.

You’ve got my heart, but I can’t let you keep it babe,

‘Cause I won’t be sure that I can stay.

“W-What do you mean a year?” you frantically asked while trying to get yourself to believe what Shawn had just told you.

“I’m leaving in about a month, Y/N. I know that’s not a lot of time and I don’t know,” Shawn began to mumble. He takes a deep sigh waiting for one of us to break the silence.

I mean, this long distance thing can work out even for a year, right? That was the only thing that was circling your mind. You were about to open your mouth to tell Shawn that the two of you could work this out like you guys always did, but he beat you before you could even speak.

“I don’t think we should stay together anymore, Y/N.” Your stomach immediately dropped. It was like your world was collapsing right at your knees. At this point, Shawn was looking anywhere but into your eyes, while you were threads away from breaking down and begging him not to go this way.

“I don’t get it Shawn,” you tried to start, “I thought we loved each other, and we can always fi—” Shawn cut you off.

And don’t waste your time, trying to pull me in.

“I’ve been thinking and contemplating about this ever since they told me about the tour two weeks ago. I can honestly say that it’s not because I don’t love you, because that’s the furthest from the truth. I care about you so much that all I’d want to live for is to see you happy. Y/N, can’t you see, I don’t want to see you hurting while I’m out every night performing concerts and living my dream. You deserve so much more, so much more love than I could give you while I’m away.”

Shawn went on and on, but the only thing you could focus on was the heartbreak and how Shawn didn’t even seem disturbed that he was breaking up with you. Shawn was never the guy to be afraid to display his emotions and tears, but this conversation and his lines were so easily spoken by him that you can’t help but think he’s rehearsed these very words dozens of times. Not even a single tear has trickled down his beautiful face.

It felt like a ton of bricks had landed on you. It was as if you were being crushed by words. It’s almost insane how whipped you’ve become for Shawn over the last couple of years. One word and you’d do anything for him, even if it left you physically and emotionally damaged.

And don’t be a fool and wait on me darling,

I know that you don’t wanna hear this but I’m always on the move.

And don’t be a fool and say that you love me,

‘Cause you’ll find a man who will stand by your side and will be there for you.

“If you think this is what’s right for the two of us, then o-okay,” I mustard up the courage to say. This was in no way easy for you, but all you wanted for Shawn was for him to be happy and to live out his dream, even if you wouldn’t be in the picture. “I’ll always be there for you Shawn, whether that’s from the audience or through the phone when all of the fame has become too much. I’ll even wait for you if that’s what it takes – I’d wait a thousand years if you asked me. I love you, Shawn, even if this is the end for us,” You begin to choke back near sobs as tears endlessly run down my face.

Shawn rushes over to take a step closer to you, wiping the tears off your flushed face with his thumbs. “There’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll find someone who will give you the time and attention that you need. I want it so badly to be me, but I can’t be selfish. Don’t waste your time on someone who can’t return nearly half the effort, because I know that you can do so much better than me. Don’t be a fool and wait for me,” Shawn confessed.

He continues to cup you face for the next few minutes as you begin sobbing right in front of him. Tears have begun to flow down Shawn’s face as well — he finally gave in. The sound of crying was soon the only thing either of you –and anyone for that matter – could hear in the room.

And just know that I do, oh I really like you, babe.

And I wanna be there for you, for the rest of your days.

But I know you’ll hurt if we keep doing this.

So I’m sorry to end this now, but I know that it’s for the best.

You don’t notice it immediately, but the room had been engulfed in silence. Shawn’s strong grip on you has loosened as the hug you two shared had soon become an action of the past.

“I think I should move out,” Shawn begins, “Brian and Geoff offered to let me stay in their apartment until the tour starts back up again.”

You had gotten so used to the presence of Shawn in your small apartment that imagining him gone was a whole new story. All of those late night cuddles and movie dates, attempts of cooking meals in the kitchen together, being able to wake up to Shawn’s face every morning – it’ll all be gone and only live as ghosts to haunt you in the future.

As another wave of tears were threatening to escape your already red eyes, you try one last time to reason with Shawn. “It’s fine if you want to just stay here until then. We can just ig—” You were cut off for the second time this night.

“No, Y/N, I really think this is for the best if I just move out. I don’t think I’d be able to survive living in the same place but not being able to call you mine.” Shawn begins while twiddling his fingers.

“U-Um, okay, I guess you should start packing your things. I can help you grab your stuff from ou-my restroom for you.” You try to speak slowly, trying to hold on to the last time you might see him in a while.

Shawn looks down again. “Oh it’s okay, I actually got everything together this morning. Everything’s packed in my car and ready to head off to the apartment.” He begins to tap his shoes against the hard tile, as if he’s in a rush.

“Part of me wants you to wait for me so, so, bad. The other part knows that it’s wrong for you to still love me even through all of this,” Shawn picks up both of your hands and holds them for what might be the last time. “I hope you know that you’ll always have a special part in my heart, Y/N. I love you, but I don’t and never will deserve you.”

That was absolutely the last swing that broke your heart into another million pieces. How long did it take Shawn to resort to the decision of breaking up? Why would he even try to think that he wasn’t worth your love and time?

“I’ll wait for you, Shawn,” you bluntly say. I know you said that I ‘shouldn’t’ put myself through this, but have you thought that maybe some people are just worth the pain? Can’t you see, I love you, and I don’t think that’ll change anytime soon.“ You take a deep breath, dressing the possibilities of how Shawn can react and reply to your statement.

You fully understand what you just said, but now it was up to Shawn if he’d wait for you the same way you would for him.

Now as it was Shawn’s turn to speak, he seemed almost frustrated. His clenched fists and his upset yet sharp features almost confused you for a second.

I don’t think you’ll ever understand, I don’t think you’ll ever understand,

I know that you don’t wanna hear this, but darling don’t be a fool.

“Just stop Y/N! Why don’t you understand that I’m doing this for our own good!” Shawn finally bursted. “Why are you so stubborn? I’m just trying to help you!”

You sigh, but force yourself to agree with Shawn. “Fine. I think you need to go. I’ll always love and wait for you though, and you can’t change that.” Through all of this, you even manage to force a fake smile.

Shawn nods, fidgeting with his fingers debating on what to do next.

Just promise me one thing that you won’t forget

But for now kiss me softly before I say

Shawn sighed. “Don’t be a fool, because I don’t think you’ll ever understand why I’m doing this. I love you, bab- I mean Y/N. I can’t give you the time and attention you need, and I guarantee that you’ll find someone who’ll give you all you deserve. You might not think that, but I promise you.”

You two seemed to unconsciously step closer to each other, because Shawn leans in to share one last kiss. He opens the door before he says one last thing, “Don’t forget me, but just don’t be a fool.” With that he walks out of the door, leaving you in hysterical tears. You touch your lips, the last and closest reminder of him.

It all happened in a matter of seconds that you can’t help but try to think that this is all a nightmare and that Shawn will still be holding out his arms to comfort you. All you needed was a shoulder to cry on, but your rock was gone. Most importantly when Shawn left, he also took your heart with him.

Laying on the floor for the next few hours left you to think about what went wrong, and if the two of you would still be together if Shawn had never blown up on Vine. It seemed selfish of you, but all of your current thoughts seemed fueled by betrayal and hurt.

Shawn didn’t want you to be a fool for loving him despite being gone for a year, but this feeling certainly made the long-distance thing seem so much better.

Two years of the most perfect relationship might seem gone, and you don’t know how you’ll ever recover from this heart break. How could Shawn think this was for the best?

I know that you don’t wanna hear this,

But don’t be a fool.
