and how much sherlock cares about john

shit to remember right now:

- angelo’s. “which is fine by the way” “i know it’s fine” GO WATCH IT WATCH THE WHOLE THING
- the battersea scene
- “things you wanted to say”
- literally ALL of tsot
- “i wish you weren’t… whatever it is you are”
- “hypnotizing mesmerizing me”
- “but look how you care about john watson. your damsel in distress”
- the aborted tarmac confession
- all of the princess bride parallels.
- “i wanted more. i still do”
- “romantic entanglement…” “would complete you as a human being”
- “love conquers all”

do u know….how much and how often sherlock reminds john that he’s amazing? how much he tells him he loves him? it always feels like it’s never enough. sherlock calls john beautiful and when john scoffs sherlock smooths his hands over the scars and bumps on john’s skin and says he wishes john could see what he saw and john feels a little prickle of tears that someone could care about plain ol’ him that much, enough to become the center of attention of someone who knows about so so much

I’m honestly so disappointed in the Sherlock fandom. All you seem to care about is that johnlock didn’t happen. Johnlock isn’t the point of the show. Sherlock is someone who has trouble with people and doesn’t really know how to exactly"love" people. Instead of being pissed and disappointed that johnlock didn’t happen be proud of Sherlock for the relationships that he has. Sherlock has grown so much emotionally wise since season 1. Stop saying season four was terrible, in my opinion season four was the best yet. Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss didn’t “queerbait” anyone, it has never been canon or even said that it might be canon. Get over yourselves, if you were true Sherlock fans you wouldn’t care if johnlock happened or not, you would have cared that the hug happened because John was hurting and Sherlock was being a good friend. I’m really disappointed in the fandom, I thought everyone would care more.

What if John writes a love poem for Sherlock and stresses over it whole day that if Sherlock sees it he will laugh. But in the evening Sherlock suddenly stops John in the middle of the living room . his face red and starts stuttering “John you need to hear something.” and recites 10 pages worth of writing, which sounds like a poem, consisting of description about each of John’s jumpers, the different shades of his hairs, his eye bag, his nose, his smell, his checked shirts, in an attempt to show how much he loves John because this is the way of showing how he cares. The only thing he is good at is observing. So John must know this is his language of love.

When Sherlock stops, John kisses every breath out of him and it’s the best day ever.

I still don’t understand how some of you are having doubt about what’s going to happen on Sunday. The entire last episode was solely about Sherlock letting himself be destroyed by drugs and then putting himself directly into the hands of someone that he knew was going to kill him. And how did he convince himself that this was a good idea? Because there’s always two of them. Don’t you read the strand? I don’t care what John says about how he only saved him because Mary told him to, John is cleverer than that, he would have realized something was up, the same way he did in ASiP. This whole episode was a recount of their first case together, with Sherlock’s flashbacks when he was with faith, to the cane, the limp, the gun, Sherlock saving Faith from suicide, so much of this. There’s nothing new under the sun.

If you’re worried about Adl0ck, first off: she’s a fucking lesbian. Secondly, the writers have said many times that the “groundbreaking revelation” is something they’ve been working up to since series one and we haven’t seen Irene (other than that weird cameo in TSoT) since ASiB. To add onto that, yes Sherlock saved her, but that was it. It was almost like he did it because he wanted to even the score between them, show her that he too can be surprising. But he didn’t do anything more than that.

In comparison, let’s look at what he has done for John: cured his limp, gave him a life worth living, jumped off of Bart’s, went through two years of torture, loneliness, and who knows what else, let John beat him when he came back because he thought he deserved it, gave John space after that even though it was killing him, offered to let John leave the bomb so that he could survive, composed a waltz for John’s wedding to someone else, wrote a best man speech that was a thinly veiled love letter and brought everyone to tears, walked around for an entire day with his heart on his sleeve while he watched his life as he knew it crumble to pieces because “Marriage changes people in ways you wouldn’t understand”, left John alone for a month because he thought he didn’t want him around, died because he offered John’s wife help, he literally flat lined, full stop, the doctors gave up on him, brought himself back to life when he heard the words “John Watson is definitely in danger..”, dragged his ass out of the hospital window and into London with a bullet wound in his chest and: Put John’s chair back, called John and told him (something) about who Mary was, saved John’s marriage, made a deal with the devil to try to save Mary from whatever Magnussen had on her, shot Magnussen outright once he realized he couldn’t save her any other way, agreed to go on a one way trip to his death, didn’t tell John what he meant to say always because he knew it wouldn’t be fair to John due to the circumstances of the situation, took a shit ton of drugs to keep himself brave enough to literally go to his death so John could stay happy with Mary, took the blame for Mary’s death, took a shit ton of drugs again so that he could get into the hospital, let John beat him again because he believed he deserved it, let himself be extremely vulnerable with Culverton so that he could let John save him because he believed that it was the only way to truly save John Watson, asked John if he was okay even though the last time he did he got horribly rejected, let John confess about “cheating” and didn’t judge him for it, got up and held John Watson to his chest while he cried, was the first and only person to tell John that it’s not okay, it just is what it is.

Honestly, where the hell else could this show be going?

I love how Mycroft’s real softer self is shown in this episode. He always had it but never showed. I always liked him but after this episode I love him all the more. He knows Sherlock can’t even imagine hurting John, let alone killing him, so he tries to sacrifice himself instead. He cares so much about his little brother like he always did. Always protecting him. But Sherlock cares about him just as much. I guess in that moment, Mycroft forgot Sherlock would never hurt him either no matter what. Not even in his dreams.

Brother love at its best.❤

  • Sherlock: ...

so writemeastoryofsolitude and i were wondering how on earth mofftiss are going to tackle the johnlock wedding, here are a few ideas:

  • it would be a small, intimate ceremony just for closest friends and family, complete opposite of john and mary’s lavish wedding
  • mike stamford is john’s best man, papa greg is sherlock’s
  • harry actually showing up
  • mycroft looking extra smug as if it’s all down thanks to him
  • mummy and daddy holmes, and mrs hudson all crying through the whole ceremony
  • since food equals sex, john feeding sherlock the first piece of the wedding cake
  • sherlock not even caring about going anywhere nice for their sex holiday since all he cares about is being with john, but john wanting to do this for sherlock because he deserves it, they both do
  • mycroft getting them a ridiculously extravagant wedding gift and john being concerned it’s way too much but mycroft insisting like “please, if this had happened a hundred years ago, do you have any idea how large a dowry i would have had to give you for finally taking him off my hands”, john like “….he’s not a woman” and mycroft giving him a smile and an appraising look like “the point still stands, i’d have paid truly exorbitant sums to ensure my little brother was happy and healthy and engaged with life, but it turns out i don’t have to”
  • neither sherlock nor john want to stop dancing the entire night of their wedding
  • at the end of the night john being like “okay we’ve been dancing for hours, my feet and knees are killing me, and you’ve spent the last three dances not-so-subtly grinding against me and groping my arse so the only dancing i want to do with you right now is strictly horizontal and on a bed” and sherlock practically sprinting from the room, shouting goodbyes at everyone on his way and “WE’RE OFF TO START OUR SEX HOLIDAY, GRAHAM DON’T TAKE ON ANY INTERESTING CASES WHILE I’M GONE, INDEFINITELY, ON A SEX HOLIDAY WITH JOHN, MY HUSBAND”, while john follows him apologising without really meaning it and finally giving up and just running after sherlock and grinning
  • sherlock deciding to change his name to watson-holmes and john being like “you don’t have to do this, your name should maintain recognisability for your work” and sherlock giving him a look “john, you’ve been a part of that work since we met, and besides holmes and watson, i think those names should ought to remain connected in everyone’s minds forever, don’t you?”
  • john changing his name too because together forever is together forever
  • sherlock going on john’s blog and making a post with size 60 font saying “NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING CASES, WE ARE ON SEX HOLIDAY”
  • john commenting on the post like “you were just getting ice, come back to bed”
  • sherlock commenting back “YOU come back to bed :-)”
  • sherlock changing john’s profile photo to one from their wedding and changing the description to include “married to sherlock watson-holmes”
  • sherlock rewriting their wiki articles to mention their marriage at least once a paragraph
  • holmes parents making john call them mum and dad
  • the first time john and sherlock visit holmes parents and john calls them mum and dad he feels a bit awkward but the beaming smiles sherlock and his parents give him make him feel like he finally has the loving and supportive family he always longed for
  • first christmas dinner as a married couple at holmes parents’ house, john and daddy holmes chatting in the sitting room while sherlock “helps” his mum in the kitchen which is more “let’s mummy embarrass him by complimenting john and the effect married life on sherlock”
  • mycroft joining them in the kitchen and making a comment like “yes, i heard those effects quite vociferously last night, you may want to relocate to the upstairs bedroom when you return to baker street if only to spare mrs hudson” and sherlock retorting “you may want to relocate to a kitchen surface that john didn’t fuck me up against last night then”, mummy being absolutely scandalised for about 5 seconds and then being like “i know what you mean sherlock, when your father and i got married we couldn’t keep our hands off each other, why in this very kitchen….” and the rest getting drowned out with truly horrifying screams of “MUMMY!!!!” from both brothers

@mofftiss hit us up if you need more ideas

I honestly can’t stop crying. That episode was a wild ride from start to finish and I am just so satisfied with it. The best by far was the way they ended it, with Mary giving her Baker St boys her blessing to be “what they could be.” I know some people will be upset that Johnlock didn’t become canon in an OBVIOUS way with a kiss or love declaration, but it was obvious in its own way. I think they did it perfectly, because at the end of the day, we’ll all interpret it differently, and this way whether you ship Johnlock or not, the story still goes in the direction it needs to: Sherlock and John back together at Baker St. No matter how you interpret their relationship, the canon will always be these two men, who need and care about each other so much, spending their lives together solving crimes and getting into trouble.

So if that was truly the end of the show, I honestly can’t complain. It was a perfect wrap-up, coming full circle in a lot of ways, with a happy montage to end it. My hope is we get a nice little Christmas special full of Johnlock domestic bliss and funny cases, but if this is the last new episode we get, I’ll still be happy with what they’ve given us.

Do you know what continually amazes me? How many people watch BBC Sherlock that don’t care if Sherlock and John are happy in their lives. I mean, think about it. We have seen both of them happy before. Pretty much the whole of series 1 and 2, they are happy. Series 3, they are not. The fact that these two men feel sad or unfulfilled in some way is hammered home over and over and over again throughout series 3. And the only difference between series 1 and 2 and series 3 is that in series 1 and 2 John and Sherlock lived together and in series 3 they do not. And John is married. So….what gives?

John’s having nightmares again. Sherlock is shooting up. John is still in therapy even though he has his best friend back. Sherlock is forlornly looking at John’s chair and he has pretty much CONSTANT tears in his eyes. They aren’t happy. And the only way they will be happy is by being together (and you can take that word platonically or romantically). Either way , that’s what it’s going to take.

The fact that not EVERY SINGLE PERSON out there is rooting for that to happen makes me really sad. We still have so far to go when so many would rather two men spend the rest of their lives seeing each other occasionally and horribly unhappy than with them being together.

John is Sick; Sherlock X Reader

Requested by Anon: Could you possibly do a oneshot where the reader has just becomes friends with sherlock, and while following him around on a case the reader ends up making perfect deductions before sherlock can leaving him stunned?

Sorry it’s been so long! I really feel bad!!

You sat on the living room couch looking at something random on the internet when Sherlock hurried into the living room.

“Y/N!” Sherlock said. “John is sick.”

You widened your eyes at how much Sherlock seemed to care for John and let a mischievous smile cross your face. “You seemed very concerned about John,” you told him cheekily.

Sherlock sighed and rolled his eyes before continuing. “We have a case…” he said impatiently.

“You’re coming with me,” he stated you as he moved to grab his coat.

You had an uh-oh feeling overcome your body. You had never gone on a case with Sherlock even after a year of living with him. You saw him on cases and you didn’t know how John could handle him and you didn’t want to learn. But before you could protest he was already out the door leaving you to hurry behind him.

You chased after Sherlock for a couple blocks before arriving at the crime scene. You saw people who looked familiar, Anderson, Donovan, other random police officers who occasionally searched Sherlock for drugs. You spotted Lestrade who looking utterly confused as to what you were doing here.

“Y/N?” he asked, clueless.

“She’s with me Gavin,” Sherlock told him before he moved over to the body.

Lestrade approached you and asked how you got dragged along. “John’s sick,” you said.

“Oh, well I’m glad you could join us,” he whispered.

“Stop flirting Lestrade,” Sherlock told him still examining the body.

You moved over to the body and took a good look. “Male, late 30s, happily married, 2 or 3 children, addicted to some kind of narcotic which is most likely why he was found in this neighborhood. His wounds are careless and sporadic, this was most likely done by another drug addict,” you communicated to Sherlock whose mouth was agape at your deductions.

“How did you know that?” he asked amazed.

“I took an anthropology course once,” you told him before getting up and starting to head back to Baker Street.

“Once?! Wait, Y/N! What was that? Wait!” he called, this time chasing after you.

I don’t know how to make gifs, but this all the evidence I need to show to her apologists. While Sherlock tries to shelter John, she just cares about her own safety. She doesn’t give a fuck about her husband. Much less about Sherlock.

Sherlock Season Finale

I never make these posts. And I have like two followers so probably no one is going to see this and that’s fine. But–the season four finale of Sherlock was tonight. And Tumblr is having a lot of feelings. Specifically about johnlock/TJLC or lack thereof. And a lot of those feelings are being expressed in stuff like “I’m so betrayed” “this isn’t happening” “how could they do this?”. Which, to an extent, I understand. There’s a huge problem with queerbaiting on television and it’s not okay and Sherlock has without a doubt fallen into that category many times. But. The level of vitriol is stunning to me specifically because, when I finished the episode, I felt as though everyone had been right–Johnlock WAS endgame. Mary gave them her blessing. They rebuilt the flat together. They live together. They’re raising a child together. Sherlock made it painfully clear throughout the episode just how much he cared about John. He loves John, as many people say, with his entire self. And so when I finish an episode like that, one that leaves a happy couple living together in domestic bliss, and then see people screaming on the internet and tumblr and wherever about how they’ve been personally failed by the show, all I can think is that Johnlock, for these people, means wild gay sex. And so, because John and Sherlock never even kissed on screen, didn’t reenact everyone’s favorite fanfic, didn’t start tearing each other’s clothes off as soon as they possibly could–well, it must mean that the writers are homophobic and that the whole world is against Johnlock shippers. Except, consider the context of the show–when has there ever been gratuitous sexual ANYTHING? Even when John and Mary were married they acted…well, like middle-aged married people, not horny teenagers. So if the show were to make Johnlock canon–which I believe it did–it would happen in exactly the way that was shown in this episode–heavy on the relationship and rapport, taking physical intimacy for granted. And the thing that really bugs me, the thing that drove me to make this post, is that the people wailing about men in their (30s? 40s?) acting out their love like adults screams to me that they don’t care about the show, or the acting, or even the characters–because particularly with Sherlock, we don’t even know if he’s a sexual person. The one time he acted like one, it was part of a long con. And to dismiss that smacks of asexual erasure–they care about what gets them off. They care about the fetish of a gay relationship. Which overlooks so many of the deeper emotional themes of the show, not to mention the fact that a person’s sexual orientation should NEVER exist for the sexual gratification others, that I just can’t stomach it. It’s a narrow minded and emotionally shallow approach–to the show, but also to life and love in general. There is so much more to many–not all, but many–relationships than sex. And to insist on carnal satisfaction from your ship, and dismiss the effort and emotion that went into creating this entire show on the parts of all the writers and the cast and the crew, simply because your desires were not met in exactly the way you envisioned it happening, is, especially in the context of a mostly sexless show and a possibly asexual character, highly disturbing.

The Lying Detective, The Caring Brother and The Soldier When We Needed Him Most

With all this hate for the episode, can we all just agree that this episode, and this season said a lot about who Sherlock, Mycroft and John really are.

Mycroft: This is a private matter.
Sherlock: John stays.
Mycroft: This is family!

Sherlock: I- I love you.

Molly: I love you.

Lestrade: Yeah I’ll take care of it.

Sherlock: Thanks, Greg

Sherlock, you don’t know what youve got til’ it’s gone. And when faced with losing john in these situations, he realises how much he needs John. He is so much more humane than he lets on, and in this episode full of thought and feeling, he himself realises he loves Molly. He is forced to choose between John and Mycroft, it nearly breaks him. The whole time he tries to convince himself and everyone around him that he is under control without anyone else, when in reality, its those closest to him that keep him afloat. He is the Lying Detective.

Mycroft: Pathetic, you always were the slow one, the idiot. You despise the family name… Put this stupid little man out of our misery!

Sherlock: [To John] Ignore everything he just said, he’s being kind. He’s trying to make it easier for me to kill him. Which is why this is going to be so much harder.

Mycroft, so much more protective and caring than we all thought, when sherlock is faced with killing either him or John, mycroft immediately tries to convince sherlock to kill him over John. And he does it in the most painless way possible; pretend John is useless, so Sherlock kills mycroft quickly. Obviously Sherlock thinks up a plan, but Mycroft’s instant thought of letting his brother have a friend without losing him again makes you see how humane he is too. Adds a bit of realism to their situation. Mycroft’s power may have got to his head at times, but in the end he is a caring brother, and loyal friend.

John: Today we have to be soldiers, Mycroft, soldiers. And that means to hell with what happens to us!

John: Soldiers?

Sherlock: Soldiers.

Ahh, John. In a way, he got what he needed this season. As Mary said, the only way he could be saved is by saving others, and he finally got the chance to step out from sherlocks shadow, stop being the blogger, and be who he really is. He’s more loyal than we were ever shown, stronger than we ever believed, and has enough human in him after all the losses he’s been through to keep not only Sherlock, but also Mycroft grounded when they are faced with challenges even they didn’t think they could face. John is a soldier. And he showed that when he needed to most.

I think I’ve realized why I haven’t been enjoying Sherlock nearly as much as I used to. All the build up, all the intensity, and all the drama derives from basic plot. Something blows up = it’s dramatic. Each series gets bigger and more elaborate.

Meanwhile, the characters remain stagnant. More than that, they’ve become predictable caricatures of themselves.

How have these characters changed since S2? Sherlock’s big gimmick is that he’s an unfeeling machine who only cares for John and maybe a handful of friends. Besides that his friend group is widening, that’s all there is. We learned bits and pieces about him, but nothing that’s evolved his character. We’re four seasons in, we know he cares about people! Why do they keep falling back on him being “unfeeling” – no one believes it anymore.
John Watson’s only character development seems to be his reaction to loss, but after his losses, he bounces back to who he always is. He doesn’t grow from these experiences, he just recovers. His big character development this season was………… he cheated on his dead wife ??

SPEAKING OF HIS DEAD WIFE: what the hell? That’s bullshit. I don’t say this because I’m mad a good character was killed, I’m upset because it was ridiculous to the point of being irritating. I’ve speculated that Mary was alive, but whether or not that is true is irrelevant with this season’s ending. Mary Watson was removed so that Sherlock and John can continue solving crimes together. It was the show’s way of giving them a happily ever after.
Ignoring the fact that her actions in the first episode of s4 were a completely unbelievable waste of time – a montage of her travelling the world in different disguises just for her to be found by gps?? Mary, a new mother, jumps in front of a bullet, acting against a mother’s instinct to care for their child?? – she was used as a tool for John to get back on his feet after Sherlock ‘died’, then once she had served her purpose, she was thrown aside.
I won’t lie, I’m not disheartened because a female character was mistreated and used as a prop – I’m mainly peeved because of how lazy and sloppy the writing was. Fine, kill her off. But at least make it good.

I don’t write this to rain on anyone’s parade. You are allowed to have enjoyed this episode and this season. Sherlock is still a good show, it is visually stunning and very entertaining. I just have some beef with it.

Everyone always makes these posts about how Sherlock would make a beautiful best man’s speech at Mystrade’s wedding but let’s be honest we’ve seen Sherlock give a best man’s speech before and he’ll just fumble the cards and mutter about something completely irrelevant and call Greg about fifteen names beginning with ‘g’ while he pretends not to care despite the fact that he cares very much like our small Sherlock is very precious but honestly they’d have got John to do it.
Bonus points: about half of the wedding speeches are taken up with Anderson and Donovan presenting a powerpoint chronicling all the times they kNEW Mystrade was real and thEY WERE RIGHT (side note: Anderson probably shouldn’t be trusted with a laser pointer) also Rosie still has to have her hand held to walk without falling over but she makes an excellent flower girl and only attempts to chew on her hairpiece twice

Confess (An Adlock Fanfiction/Ficlet)

(Yay! Thanks so much for everyone who sent in their prompts to help me relieve my stress. Decided to go with @seaductress‘ prompt first, which is “Sherlock is forced to admit his love to Irene under dire circumstances” because the idea popped to my head immediately. It won’t be as vocal as the ‘I love you’ scene with Molly, but I still hope you like how I put it. Enjoy, loves!)

How can someone feel so numb yet devastatingly in pain at the same time?

Sherlock was aware that what he was feeling made no sense. His fingers were shaking from when he destroyed the wooden coffin with his bare hands just moments ago, thinking about how much he had hurt Molly Hooper. The fear of losing everyone he cared for, slowly and intimately, simply felt rotten to the core.

He saw John’s hand reaching for him, reminding him that there are more things to come – things he had to face and hopefully conquer.

His mind reeled as he stepped into the next room, thinking about the stages his clever little sister has prepared to unravel the depths of his memories. First was his home, then his humanity by playing with the lives of strangers, then the idea of unrequited love. The words of Eurus on making him choose between Mycroft and John rang over and over, and yet what he saw in the next room sent his heart racing due to urgency.

With nothing more than a table with a sleek, black box on top of it, Sherlock felt his knees buckling in fear. It was all too familiar now, the contrast as to why he dismissed John’s quip upon seeing the wooden coffin.
