Real Talk: Jackson. Appropriation VS Appreciation.

This is about Jackson Wang from Got7 wearing dread locks in a Chinese advertisement, just in case you haven’t seen all of the drama and people attacking him. (pictures below)

I’ll start off with saying, I don’t give a fuck that he wore dreadlocks. There, that saved you a lot of reading and time, so if you would like to unfollow/block me, go ahead. Agree to disagree. People want MY opinion on this, so here it is:

The way people are attacking him is all kinds of wrong. I’m ok with people explaining nicely about the history of dreads and how people can take an offense to non Black people wearing that style, that’s their opinion, even though some where being way too harsh about it but reading all the hate comments are disgusting. You would think Jackson got caught in an animal cruelty case (God forbid) or rape case (God forbid), so I’m reading twitter and instagram and saying to myself…what is happening? I’ve never seen K Hip Hop artist get THIS much heat and they wear dreads and braids on a daily basis, but when Jackson wears them in an ad, he gets so much hate and death threats.

“He’s so wrong”

“Educate him”

“He doesn’t care about Black people but he’s wearing our hair style” - Oh I’m sorry I didn’t know Jackson hated Black people..

Let me tell you something, I know people are going to hate me for my opinion, but they hate me anyway lol, so fuck it. I understand where their passion comes from, people hate that other races look up to Black people and want to dress like us, be like us, but at the end of the day they don’t want to be with us or could care less about us for real, I GET IT!. I get it, there’s a lot of people out there that don’t like us for real but wear our hair styles. I understand appropriation. I understand the history of it all. I’m proud to be Black and love my race, my culture and the passion we have.

And I also love that other races look up to our people sooo much that they want to dress like their favorite rapper, or try their style, the rappers themselves are even flattered and don’t care, they just love that they are looked up to and inspire people of all races.

Oh wait, my antil Blackness coon-ness is showing, let me stop! (sarcasm)

But personally, If people who are not Black wear braids, dreadlocks and they’re NOT doing it to mock us, profit from us, claiming it as their own, not a racist, and fucks with my people heavy and NOT doing it to degrade our race (like Jackson!), then I don’t give a damn how you wear your hair, bitch you can wear dreadlocks til yo ass 90, I do not give a damn, there’s some fuck up things going on out there in the REAL world of appropriation. Like this fashion show that was urban themed, gave them afros, braids, but there were no Black people in the show, obviously I was annoyed, because what are they doing? Profiting off of Black people and NOT giving any credit and claiming it as new/ their own. That’s the problem with appropiating. It’s stealing from one’s culture and giving no credit.

What is Jackson doing? Is he racist? is he claiming it as his own? Is he constantly doing it? Is he discrediting Black people and acting like it’s a brand new thing he’s doing?

What did Jackson do that SOOOOOOO MANY other non Black people do every day and are getting their hair braided as I type this. I’m lost as to why people are jumping down his throat and giving him threats and demanding an apology like he said “N*gger” or something?

This girl shared my inner thoughts on appropriation. (should watch this).

And also this.

^ He’s right!  What I said above, he’s NOT doing it to degrade or profit from our race. I said my thoughts before he even responded.

+ People are offended by his response saying he “is saying fck you to us, he doesn’t care about our culture, he doesn’t listen to us”, damn! what do you want him to say? Do you not see the hate comments he’s getting?, telling him to die, saying racial slurs, you guys want to play victim in every little thing so badly, there is NOTHING wrong with his responses, they are haters. He could’ve said worse.

+And “you are on the wrong page” he’s right! If you don’t like him and want to send him hate, then you ARE ON THE WRONG PAGE. If you have a problem with him, then don’t be on his page. don’t even click on it.

^HE APPRECIATES OUR PEOPLE!

HE’S INSPIRED BY OUR PEOPLE!

HE LOVES OUR PEOPLE!

HE LOOKS UP TO OUR PEOPLE!

The last thing on my mind is someone’s hair. I don’t know about y’all but I got bigger fish to fry in this racist world, and Jackson’s 2 minute twists are the least of the problem.

And I know they will say, “So who cares wrong is wrong, he needs to be educated”, HE IS! He knows about Black people, his role models are Black, so of course he’s going to want what they want, you guys are acting like he wore the dreads to be ignorant and racist and you’re acting like he constantly “steals” from our culture and profits from it, he doesn’t.

I’m out.

Here’s the picture:

Watch the haters come in 3, 2, 1…

I just want to talk about how very Niall this photo shoot is.

He’s not trying to be someone he’s not, he’s not trying to be something he isn’t, he isn’t trying to emulate anybody else, he’s just- Niall.

He’s Niall Horan, and so is this photo shoot. From just lounging around casually with a guitar in his lap, to wearing casual clothing – that looks so fucking delicious on him, to getting up mid-interview to investigate where a random noise is coming from, to putting his crazy sock obsession on full display on the fucking cover of the magazine. His down-to-earthness is all over this, and that’s so incredibly endearing to me.

I love this man so fucking much.

Things that make Bobby Beautiful

He took part in SMTM3, and went through the roughest stage of his life, for the money to bring his family back to Korea and build a house for them

He calls iKONICs ‘best friends’ & ‘adorable’ on a daily basis and treats them exactly like that

He’s bad at telling lies and would rather tell his girlfriend the truth if he didn’t like her outfit than to lie to her

He draws cute figures and hearts on his hands and arms

He recorded his members voices and laughters to add them to the ending part of his solo song ‘HOLUP’

He respects women and treats them like QUEENS. He even called a fan queen once and other fans ‘flowers’

He got out of a car just to let an old lady pass the street and bowed to her. When a cameraman called him a hero for it on broadcast, instead of agreeing, he said he isn’t a hero just a normal human being

He prefers to see his members slogans at concerts or konbats instead of his own slogans

His three biggest priorities in life are music, family & Jesus Christ.

He asked fans to sing along to iKON songs, and when they did, he kissed their hands.

He wears and accepts fan presents as often as he can and even treasures some in his room

At the age of 14 he came to Korea all by himself to start a career only to be able to take care of his family which still lived in the us back then

In 2015 he had enough money to bring his parents back to Korea and build a house for them and he still takes care of them

When he saw a pregnant fan at a concert, he went down the stage and gave her his jacket so she wouldn’t feel cold and be safe

He wanted a tattoo and asked his dad and brother to do a family tattoo with the lyrics of his born hater rap ‘fear only god hate only sins’

He grew up in church and thanked god on almost every award show in which iKON won

He and his mother have golden couple bracelets

He can play the guitar, piano and drums but he never shows off. Many people don’t even know that he is a pretty decent singer too

Anytime a fan or a random person falls down near Bobby, you see him being the first person to help them get up even when the place is crowded or they’re in a hurry

when fans asked him at the airport if he was tired (during one of the most stressful times for iKON members) he said ‘I’m fine, don’t worry’ in a soft voice and repeated it over and over again until the fans stopped asking

He sleeptalks and keeps telling Donghyuk to go to church

He is the most hyped and happy when he is on stage and hears iKONICs singing along to iKON songs

All his members repeatedly said that the private bobby they know, is exactly what we get to see on tv and that he is very natural and honest

He is everybody’s hype man. No matter who is on stage or performing, he hypes them up and dances and sings along and jams to the song

He picked up a fan from work and had a date with her for the program dingo. He bought her food, helped her clean up at work, flirted with her but kept his distance, gave her his jacket and presents at the end and a long hug and took her home

His goal in life isn’t to live a luxury life, but a happy one.

He asks younger members what they’d like to eat and lets them pick what they want first

He is actually an introvert and shy around strangers but still gives as much fanservice as possible

He watches animes and reads manga and loves to wear clothes with anime print or cartoon prints on them

He wears colorful friendship bracelets that fans gave him

His biggest treasure is a Winnie the Pooh plushy that his older brother gave him when he was born. He panicks whenever he can’t find it and sleeps with it until this day even said it makes him sleep better.

Even when many people call him ugly, he never wanted to do plastic surgery and repeats that he loves himself the way he is.

He disliked dressing up as girls the most, but still did it so fans would be happy

He is really respectful. Especially towards seniors and fans. He always bows 90 degrees.

He doesn’t like skinship but let’s other members be touchy with him

He told fans to care more about themselves than about iKON and do their best in their area (school or work etc.)

this post will be constantly updated

do yall mind if i love minho with my entire heart and soul? lemme just pour my heart out for a second and tell yall how much i love this man… he has a GOLDEN heart he is truly a kind and sweet human being he cares about his members and fans so much GOD we are so blessed and lucky to have someone like choi minho in this world he is such a pure soul that just wants to spread happiness and love to all those around him i really love him with my entire heart and i hope he’s happy because that’s all that matters

Trump’s Civil War

Trump’s unwillingness to denounce the white supremacists who came to Charlottesville last weekend bent on violence has been part of his political strategy from the start.

Remember, weeks after he began his campaign by alleging that Mexican immigrants were criminals and rapists, two brothers in Boston beat up and urinated on a 58-year-old homeless Mexican national, subsequently telling police “Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported.”

Instead of condemning the brutality, Trump excused it by saying “people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again.”

During campaign rallies Trump repeatedly excused brutality toward protesters. “You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks.”

After white supporters punched and attempted to choke a Black Lives Matter protester, Trump said “maybe he should have been roughed up.”

Trump was even reluctant to distance himself from David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan.

Since becoming president, Trump’s instigations have continued. As Representative Mark Sanford, a Republican from South Carolina, told the Washington Post, “the president has unearthed some demons.”

In May, Trump congratulated body-slamming businessman Greg Gianforte on his special election win in Montana, making no mention of the victor’s attack on a reporter the night before.

Weeks ago Trump even tweeted a video clip of himself in a WWE professional wrestling match slamming a CNN avatar to the ground and pounding him with punches and elbows to the head.

Hateful violence is hardly new to America. But never before has a president licensed it as a political strategy or considered haters part of his political base.

In his second week as president, Trump called Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the National Rifle Association to the White House.

Soon thereafter, LaPierre told gun owners they should fear “leftists” and the “national media machine” that were “an enemy utterly dedicated to destroy not just our country, but also Western civilization.”

Since then the NRA has run ads with the same theme, concluding “the only way we stop this, the only way we save our country and our freedom, is to fight this violence of lies with a clenched fist of truth.”

It’s almost as if someone had declared a new civil war. But who? And for what purpose?

One clue came earlier last week in a memo from Rich Higgins, who had been director for strategic planning in Trump’s National Security Council.

Entitled “POTUS & Political Warfare,” Higgins wrote the seven-page document in May, which was recently leaked to Foreign Policy Magazine.

In it Higgins charges that a cabal of leftist “deep state” government workers, “globalists,” bankers, adherents to Islamic fundamentalism and establishment Republicans want to impose cultural Marxism in the United States. “Recognizing in candidate Trump an existential threat to cultural Marxist memes that dominate the prevailing cultural narrative, those that benefit recognize the threat he poses and seek his destruction.”

There you have it. Trump’s goal has never been to promote guns or white supremacy or to fuel attacks on the press and the left. These may be means, but the goal has been to build and fortify his power. And keep him in power even if it’s found that he colluded with Russia to get power.

Trump and his consigliere Steve Bannon have been quietly encouraging a civil war between Trump’s base of support – mostly white and worried – and everyone who’s not.

It’s built on economic stresses and racial resentments. It’s fueled by paranoia. And it’s conveyed by Trump’s winks and nods to haters, and his deafening silence in the face of their violence.

A smaller version of the civil war extends even into the White House, where Bannon and his protégés are doing battle with leveler heads.

National security advisor Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster fired Higgins. Reportedly, Trump was furious at the firing.

McMaster was quick to term the Charlottesville violence “terrorism.” Ivanka Trump denounced “racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis.” Reportedly, chief of staff John Kelly pushed Trump to condemn the haters who descended on Charlottesville.

Let’s hope the leveler heads win the civil war in the White House. Let’s pray the leveler heads in our society prevent the civil war Trump and Bannon want to instigate in America.
