The Secret To Shinhwa’s Longevity? The Answer is Their Leader, Eric Mun.

Eric Mun, one of the best leaders, if not the best, sets an example of what true leadership is. What has he done for Shinhwa that the group stayed intact, becoming the longest-running idol group in Kpop, with no disbandment & no member change?

Let’s start from the very beginning. After winning a street dance championship in the US, Eric was selected by Lee Soo Man in March 1997 & he debuted as the leader of the 6-member-group Shinhwa on 24 March 1998

In 2003, Shinhwa’s 5-year-contract with SM came to an end. At that time, many 1st generation groups faced disbandment, like H.O.T, Secks Skies, S.E.S. So it was expected that Shinhwa would disband too. Following the group’s contract expiration, SM wanted to disband the group & offered solo contracts to only some members. But Shinhwa’s aim was that the 6 of them would stay together as a group and could not be separated. So, Shinhwa refused the solo contract offers with SM, which was undoubtedly a shock in the industry. So far no artist had ever dared to offend the big boss of the Korean entertainment industry, and they were the first.

So, what did Eric do to avoid disbandment and keep the members together after the contract expired?

Eric, the leader who chose to keep his group together over money. His first priority was his group.

He was offered solo contracts that were FOUR times more than the other members. “Honestly, others would think about those offers for a month, but Eric rejected them immediately, just to let the members be together.”

Truthfully, how many people do you know that can make such sacrifice, whether in real life or in idol world?!!!! .. Eric could’ve said, ‘screw Shinhwa’ and then accept SM’s offer to double his contract 4 times on the condition that they disband Shinhwa and he go solo.. But Eric’s genuine love & loyalty for his group couldn’t be replaced by money or securing a place in SM. He turned down the offers IMMEDIATELY & & took Shinhwa to another company, which was even a great risk as they were leaving the big boss of kpop entertainment to start again in another much smaller company. The result didn’t matter to him as long as remained with the members.
imagine that Eric accepted those tempting solo offers, then we wouldn’t have Shinhwa anymore. The fact that the six of them are able to stay together now, Eric contributed A LOT to it.

and to Eric, his choice wasn’t a sacrifice .. it was the best decision he has made in his life.

After Eric chose Shinhwa over money & suggested moving to another agency, then came the next problem. Leader Eric had to fight for the rights to “Shinhwa’s” name.

After Shinhwa left SM among much controversy & refused to extend their solo contracts, then came a huge problem. The members needed to continue using the same name “Shinhwa”. But since SM still owned the rights to Shinhwa’s name, so Eric had to put himself through a crash course in legalities to resolve Shinhwa’s contract issues. Eric was the one who negotiated with the management and no one will ever know how much hardship he had to endure during the negotiations. Eric went to court against SM to retain the rights for Shinhwa’s name. He even studied law to find a way for Shinhwa to continue being active under the same name. (Bear in mind that he was only 24 years old back then!!) .. He paid a HUGE sum of his OWN money to buy the name’s rights.. Eric really went through hell during that period until in the end, Shinhwa won & left SM with the rights to their name.

Can you imagine that a young man in his early 20s, gave up on massively tempting solo offers and chose to go through hell & fight for his team just to remain with his band mates & keep the group intact?!!! .. who else can do such thing?!! .. what a true leadership & loyalty!

It’s also Eric who negotiated -alone- with other companies till he chose the best offer for his group. Then Shinhwa moved to Good Entertainment. But unfortunately, not so many people were pleased with that decision & so they tried their best to bring Shinhwa down, asking them to disband like what other groups did back then.

In 2004, a journalist once wrote an article heavily criticizing Shinhwa & blatantly used personal attacks on the Shinhwa members implying that they are failed musicians who try too hard with solo activities. He proceeded to slam Shinhwa with ruthless criticism, leading to a big media frenzy. It was then that Eric stepped up once again as the leader to speak out. He made a powerful reply to the reporter & published it on the Internet, asking for a more meaningful review. That reply of Eric went viral & found its way to the official school books in Korea, marking him as the 1st & only artist to have such feat. He ended the letter with: “It’s not so easy to see Shinhwa. If there’s anything, you can look for me.” & this line became very famous.

Here’s an excerpt of his lengthy letter..

WOW! such powerful reply! Eric might be 4D & act like a cute kid, but when someone or something threatens Shinhwa, he turns into a totally different person. totally dependable & trustworthy leader.

When Eric was at the peak of his success, being the nation’s flower boy after starring in the very popular drama “Firebird” in 2004, & dominating almost all CFs and he was dubbed the “CF King” .. Many thought that he would leave Shinhwa & there were many articles released that urged him to go solo & pursue his successful career as an actor & rapper away from Shinhwa.

“I remember a conversation I had with Eric over drinks back when we were filming Firebird (Phoenix). I said ’“It’s a good idea to go into acting. Anyway, you can only be an idol for a few years, just make acting your lifelong career”. Eric turned serious and replied “NO! I’ll be with Shinhwa for more than 10 years, for a lifetime. Please wait and see!”
- Firebird Director San Ray’s twitter (2012.03)

Eric strictly clarified to everyone what his top priority is, which is the group Shinhwa. Eric: “Shinhwa is everything. Without Shinhwa there won’t be the present me, and I would not meet precious friends and members who love me.”
Eric: “Shinhwa is our root and it has to be our core.”

This man’s loyalty & devotion to his group is simply unbelievable!

2008 - The group hiatus due to military service. Eric is always the leader who knew how to keep his word.

In 2008, Shinhwa held their last concert before the 4-year hiatus due to the army enlistment. In that concert, they promised the fans that Shinhwa will come back after all members finish their military service. “Shinhwa will come back, please wait for us”

But .. during those 4 years of military service hiatus, Shinhwa was on the verge of disbandment. So the dependable leader Eric stepped up again to keep their promise to the fans & keep the group together.

and that’s how Shinhwa came back to us again, thanks to Leader Eric who lived up to his position as the best leader & the big brother to his group members and brought them together again. Couldn’t be more grateful to this AWESOME man! he’s truly a man of his words! .. Thanks to him, we have Shinhwa today!

Eric: “Shinhwa must go on forever. Even if there is no company that wants us, we might just form our own company and carry on.”

In 2007, some members left Good Ent. (the company Shinhwa moved into after SM) & many people thought Shinhwa were going to disband. But the loyal leader Eric stepped up again and assured that Shinhwa will go on forever even if there’s no company that wants them, Leader Eric came up with the idea of forming their own company! He’s truly the leader that thinks ahead & seeks for what’s best for his group! to this extend he’s so loyal & dedicated to Shinhwa!

Eric’s efforts to gain the full rights to Shinhwa’s name.

But .. to establish Shinhwa’s company, there was a serious issue needed to be resolved. Shinhwa didn’t have the full rights to their name yet, since SM handed over the full rights of “Shinhwa’s” name to Jun Media Ent. in 2005.
So before establishing “Shinhwa Company”, leader Eric went through a very tough time & had loooong negotiations with Jun Media to use Shinhwa’s trademark. And finally, after reaching an agreement, Eric’s dream came true & Shinhwa Company was established in 2011, marking Shinhwa as the first & only idol group to establish their own agency with their own name & personally run it.

But due to many legal issues concerning Jun Media, Shinhwa filed a lawsuit and leader Eric went to court against Jun Media in 2012. He went through hell again with many trials & appeals & temporarily changing the company name to “ShinCom Ent.”. Until finally In 2015, Shinhwa won and gained the full rights to their name after 12 years.
This man, Eric, used to show up in varieties, all smiling & laughing, acting 4D & as 3 yrs old kid, while he had such huge burden over his shoulders, fighting for years for Shinhwa to continue with their name. He makes me speechless!

The members expressed their gratitude & thanks to Eric as he was the one who struggled the most during the the whole process.
Such a dependable Leader!

The leader that always thinks of Shinhwa as family.

Eric has always been the dependable big brother to all the members. “I always think of the members as my real brothers”. And as a real brother, Eric is always there for the members when anyone of them faces troubles & does his best to help the members out.

Eric, to help Minwoo out, gathered the members & suggested that everyone of them contributes a sum of money so that they help Minwoo overcome his financial trouble as loyal brothers.
This man continuously sets examples of how true friendship should be.

When Eric earned a large sum of money in CFs, he split up his pay and supported other members who had financial difficulties. When he was dominating CFs, he called the members to his house and gave them bonus money. He’s also filmed CFs originally meant for himself but he got the company to include the rest of the Shinhwa members.

Shinhwa’s appearance for China gag concert in 2015 was originally meant to have Eric as the only guest, but he refused & told the production team that if it wasn’t a SHINHWA segment, he wouldn’t attend. So, Shinhwa as OT6 was casted instead.

One of the things that make other groups disband is when the members care more about their solo work than the group itself.
Then comes leader Eric, who leads by example. For his solo activities, he always thinks of “us” before “me”! his group always comes first.

To Eric, Shinhwa always comes as a top priority even before his solo work. When he does a solo activity, he does it because he knows it will benefit the group itself, not doing solo to shine away from the group. He does his solo work to promote Shinhwa.

Even when he gets a solo activity, he never decides on it by himself… Eric will first get the agreement of the members if there is something he wants to do for himself. If there is a solo activity that he wishes to do, he would first gather the opinions of the members & seek the agreements of all the members first!!.
Seriously who ever does something like this?!!!! .. such an attitude of his sets an example of what made it possible for Shinhwa to promote separately and together.
Eric: “Rather than my solo activities, Shinhwa’s activities are more important.”

another secret to longevity? it’s the leader’s genuine care and support to the other members’ solo activities. Eric always sets an example for others to follow.

Dongwan: “Eric always thinks about every member, and seeing how he helps make us take care of each other.“

Eric has always been a truly supportive & selfless Leader. Not being selfish & focusing only on his solo activities, but he always helps his members in their solo careers, showing ultimate support & encouragement to them & happily agrees to feature in their albums, and always expresses how proud he is as his members are doing great in their solos. While staying at home, he keeps on monitoring their performances & giving them very useful feedback & advises.

Eric: “Aside from our group activities, I’m really happy to see the members do well in their solo careers. If I can offer my help in any way, I’d like to help them continuously.”

& what does he gain in return for his massive help & as feat. fees in his members’ albums?! .. Pizza or sunglasses :D

Eric, the leader who leads from behind & puts the members in front. He doesn’t like to stand out and always stays away from the limelight, happily giving it to the members.

and there is always that noticeable thing about Leader Eric. He has always been supporting Shinhwa from the back since debut. Never been bossy. He always stays away from the limelight, happily giving it to the members. You’ll find him standing quietly in the interviews. So humble & quiet to the extend that many people are still not aware that Eric is the leader of Shinhwa. This is because he is a man with few words and doesn’t stand on the front of the group. His true features of taking care of his people shone brightly as him working behind the scenes. But when Shinhwa encounter a problem, he takes the front line, protecting the group & the members.

and after all of this, it’s expected that Eric will be thinking highly of himself as one of best leaders, if not the best ..
but ..this man is so humble to an extend you can’t believe!

Another thing about Eric is that he never thinks highly of himself!! he’s one of the most humble people you can ever meet!!. Like he’s one of the best leaders, if not the best, the loyal, selfless & dependable leader that has been keeping Shinhwa for such a long time in the industry & still, he doesn’t think that he does something extraordinary!!

Seriously, how can he even be this humble?!!.. Eric, you’ve been setting standards of how ideal leadership is!

Whenever someone praises or says something nice about him, he’ll do some funny stuff to cut that person off & move to another subject. Like what he did in Shinhwa’s latest concert when Dongwan thanked him for his great efforts in getting the full rights to Shinhwa’s name back. Eric kept on kissing Dongwan to cut him off.

Or when someone praises his outer looks, & it’s known that Eric is one of the most handsome Korean celebs (he was dubbed Korea’s handsome representative) but he never brags about his handsomeness for even once, and when others tell him that he’s handsome, he’s gets so shy & flustered & tries to change topics.

and even though he’s the mighty Eric, with more than 20 years in the industry, regardless of his fame, he remains the humble Eric who still bows 90 degrees to even the hoobaes & the fans. Forever humble as Day 1. Eric really sets an example that no matter how famous you are, you should always be humble & down to earth with everyone.

The leader that always thinks of Shinhwa before himself !

& he also doesn’t think he’s doing something extraordinary!!!

and even during his solo activities, he seizes every chance to promote Shinhwa & the other members’ solo events.

Then there is this amazingly meaningful quote of Eric, that makes me feel so lucky for being a Shinhwa Changjo ..

“It’s impossible for Shinhwa to disband now even if we wanted to. Shinhwa doesn’t just belong to us, it also belongs to the fans and people who love us.”

To any group, before disbanding, think deeply of this quote. Your group doesn’t just belong to you, it also belongs to your fans & people who love you!

Now.. With every anniversary we celebrate with Shinhwa, the group that debuted in 1998 & still going strong with no disbandment & no member change, let’s forever remember that the main reason behind this is Eric, the best leader we could ever ask for. The leader who knew how to keep his group intact & overcome all troubles they’ve been through since debut. That troubles that could’ve easily made any other group disband.
Eric always puts Shinhwa as a top priority over anything else .. To him, the group always comes first. He really lives for Shinhwa!

“Eric is really like an otaku. If he gets addicted to something he’ll bury himself at home but after we left our first agency, as the leader of Shinhwa, he became the otaku of Shinhwa. Even now, he worries a lot for Shinhwa and is also in charge of dealing with external matters. He is a leader I’m thankful to and can trust.” - Dongwan

Thank you leader Eric for all of what you’ve done & still doing to Shinhwa. Thank you for keeping them as forever six .. thank you for always protecting us, Shinhwa Changjo .. Thank you for always protecting Orange .. Thank you for always protecting Shinhwa Company .. Thank you for always choosing Shinhwa over anything else no matter what the temptation is .. Everyone of us appreciates your great efforts & dedication for Shinhwa. Plz continue on leading Shinhwa for more anniversaries & more success. 2gether 4ever, walking on the same road. Never apart, friends till the end. ♥♥

#HappyEricDay ♥♥  Happiest birthday to our awesome leader Eric ♥♥

Search for Loneliness Part2

Hi people! This is part two to the one shot called Search for Loneliness which is the first one on my blog. I think you can read this even if you haven’t read part1 and still get the plot. Hope you enjoy!
Huge thanks to the person who requested Part1 and to my friend @interfectorems for the patience and help!

Plot: Harry broke Y/N’s heart. But how come he misses her now?

Warnings: May hint on sex and includes curse words.

Pic isn’t mine.

Harry was awoken by soft kisses being peppered across the warm skin of his shoulder and a low groan fell from his mouth. Images of a girl flashed before his eyes and a lazy smile forced its way onto his face, happiness flooding through his entire body.
She was here.
Y/N’s smooth fingertips were drawing over his tattoos and Harry took a deep breath, wanting to fill all his senses with her, all of what was her. His muscles relaxed beneath her soft touches and his heart thumbed heavenly full with emotion in his chest. Y/N had come back to him. Or maybe it was him who’d never left? Or…
Strange. She smelled differently than he remembered. And her hair was softer. In fact, now that he thought about it, the tender touches he was receiving could in no way be coming from his Y/N. Y/N hadn’t ever drawn over his tattoos, but rather along them, touching his bare, uncovered skin rather than the inked one. It was only a faint difference, but the moment he started paying attention to it he couldn’t ignore how drastically wrong this felt.
His heart fell and his stomach knotted. There was still the same distance between Y/N and him as there had been last night. And the day before. The week.
Harry rolled onto his side, successfully disconnecting the foreign girl’s touch from his body without even looking at her and got to his feet so quickly his head felt dizzy.

“Breakfast?” his raspy voice muttered, but he was out of the bedroom before his visitor could complain about his unfriendly manners or give an answer to his question.

….

“Yes, Gem, I’m aware of that.” Harry rolled his eyes at his sister’s lectures about how he’d missed another family dinner and pressed the phone closer to his ear. “It must have slipped my mind. M'sorry.”

“You seem to have very little room in that mind of yours lately,” his sister remarked, “We’ve all seen what might be occupying all the space. How is you’re new mysterious women doing?”

“S'no mystery,” he replied slowly, “And s'not very serious.”

She hummed, indicating that she clearly didn’t buy it. “When did you decide Y/N was to be out of the picture?”

Harry huffed in annoyance. In moments like this he regretted ever bringing Y/N around to meet his family. If he hadn’t done that they surely wouldn’t be bothering him about her anymore.

“I had my reasons so don’t even start.”

A loud, exaggerated sigh was heard, yet she remained silent. Gemma knew her brother well enough to sense when it was best to leave him alone. She also knew when he’d spill what she wanted to hear without needing to be pushed.

“She was just… not right, you know?” he admitted.

“How so?”

Harry shrugged even though she couldn’t see, his fingers nervously switched on the tap, allowing clear water into the sink. Switch on. Switch off.

“She couldn’t accept my life”, he explained, careful to choose his words wisely, “There were many little things she did which clearly showed how little she understood about my lifestyle and there were bigger ones. I once asked her to come to dinner with me and Kendall and she said no, not because of my past relations with her, but because she didn’t want to get into a situation where she’d be filmed for a TV show. Or because there would have been too many paps around. Same went for any other time I wanted her to meet someone remotely famous and at some point all the arguments became too much. Is adapting to my standards really too much to ask? She couldn’t just expect me to change for her or to not go out for dinner every week anymore.”

Silence. One that told him enough.

“What?” he asked annoyed.

“Why do you think I didn’t come to that yacht you rented a couple of years ago?” Gemma giggled. “I met Kendall and she’s actually quite lovely, but her presence does mean a massive amount of cameras. So do all of your other friends. I’ve got sort of used to it over the years and still hate it, so I can understand if a girl with even less experience feels frightened or intimidated by it. Just my opinion, little brother. Maybe you could have solved that issue by simply giving her more time.”

Harry swallowed hard and processed his sister’s words. More time? But weren’t five months enough to come out of your shell if that’s what your boyfriend expects of you?

Gemma went on: “If you feel happier now then I’m on your side, promise. But you need to make an effort, too, Harry. If any relationship of yours should ever lead to something, you have to get used to the thought of making an effort yourself and not just expecting the girl to do all the work.”

….

Harry scrolled through her Twitter page and it was strangely empty. The last phrases she’d tweeted had been posted weeks ago. Not even her favorites showed any activity and though Y/N hadn’t exactly visited her Social Media every day, this absence did appear odd. Harry couldn’t admit it to himself, but he did miss knowing what she was up to. Had she experimented with a new recipe? Had she gone to the cafe in north London she’d always wanted to visit? Had she managed to get a ticket for that gig one of her favorite musicians  had held last week? He wished he could ask her.
Deciding that this wouldn’t provide any of the desired information, Harry closed the app with a sigh and instead found himself opening the familiar app of his photo folder.
This images weren’t new, but familiar and this was something he desired just as much; the familiarity Y/N had posed that was now lost. Harry stared at the photos and was surprised how every detail of her face was still engraved into his memory, just like any face of a person he cared about was. Only that he shouldn’t feel that way for her anymore. He didn’t have the right to.

“What are you doing?”

The voice was soft and sweet and yet Harry flinched at the unexpected noise. Mia… Maya… Harry wasn’t sure which name it was exactly but after she’d stayed over for three days now he figured asking would be rude. He shut off his device and let it drop onto the coffee table before him, doing his best to appear relaxed.

“Nothing really.”

His new girl smiled and stepped closer. She was pretty. Her hair fell in long waves just below her waist and her wide eyes sparkled with a friendly curiosity for what he was up to, thought or felt. A curiosity he’d known when he had himself began developing feelings for Y/N and now was all he needed to recognize the condition the girl before him was in. She would fall for him. Soon.
Harry didn’t tense when she stepped closer and instead held out a hand for her to take, giving it a slight tug so she would swing one leg over his lap and climb up.
Harry granted her a gentle smile when he had her sitting in his lap with both slender arms wrapped around his neck, his own hands pressing against her smooth back. Maybe if she’d fall for him, he would find the perfect companion he had been dreaming for. The one Y/N had failed to be.

“Are you okay?” Mia or Maya asked with a small frown between her perfectly plucked brows.

Harry just nodded, his throat too dry to answer. Her smell invaded his senses and the sweetness of her perfume clouded his mind. His girlfriend, if that’s what she could be called, smiled and leaned in to press a kiss to his mouth, expecting it to be a short one and finding herself surprised when Harry’s tongue pushed between her lips and dipped into her mouth. One of his hands moved up to press against the back of her head, keeping her from moving back while his fingers pulled at her top with a feverish desire to tore it away. A small laugh fell from her soft lips and she disconnected their kiss in order to oblige his wish and undress. Once off, she leaned in and pressed tender kisses to the side of his neck, sighing whenever his hands moved over the uncovered skin of her body.
Harry’s mind raced and his heart thumbed heavily in his chest. His lower stomach ached and his thighs felt pleasantly tingly. Soft hair brushed over his skin, warm lips placed gentle kisses and delicate hands left faint scratches on his back and stomach. He allowed his head to roll back and his eyes to fall shut.

“Y/N.”

The name left his mouth in a breathy gasp and it took the girl he was holding to shrug off his embrace before he could realize what he’d done wrong. Hurt evident in her eyes she stumbled to her feet and bent down to gather her shirt, covering her naked torso with hastily moving and shaking fingers.
Harry’s stomach turned and he shook his head, an exhausted huff leaving his mouth.
Why wouldn’t Y/N leave him alone? Even when she was miles away she could torment him like no one else ever had.
Words were shouted, but he took it with no fight and instead stayed sat in his chair as the girl before him began to cry and shake, receiving no words from him to mend her heart ache. At some point he thought she’d slapped him, his cheek, previously kissed by the same person now red and stinging. But he wasn’t sure and only noticed his guest had left when the door fell into its lock with a loud noise.

….

He had to call her. Y/N hadn’t left his mind in days and frankly he was quite sick of it. So many ordinary tasks had been ruined by her messing with his head. Nervousness made his heart skip and press the phone just a little closer to his ear, waiting impatiently for Y/N to pick up.

“Hello?”

Her voice. His eyes fell shut when he heard it and his fingers tingled. She sounded calm and collected, not angry at all.
Harry cleared his throat.

“S'me.”

Silence. He heard Y/N take in a breath. “I’m sorry, but who’s this?”

A frown took over his forehead until it dawned on him. She couldn’t have known it was Harry, he realized. In order to keep any woman he was involved with from having his private number he had it blocked at all times. He could call and text them without any of them getting his contact info. It was an old habit he’d broken for Y/N and quickly picked back up once he’d broken up with her.

“Harry,” He clarified, a small smile tugging at his lips, “Forgot about me already, have you?”

The silence following his words was nothing like the one earlier. It was as if the connection had died and Harry quickly checked to see if she’d actually ended it or not. Harry’s feet shifted and sighed.

“Y/N?” he pressed on carefully.

“Harry.”

It was a whisper, exhausted and empty.
Harry’s heart squeezed painfully tight and he brushed the sweaty palm of his free hand against his jeans. So she really wasn’t angry, but hurt.

“Listen,” he began, “I-”

But he was already interrupted by the dreadful peeping noise and this time once he looked at his phone, her name had vanished.

….

His head hung low and his hands were balled into fists. Just one knock, that’s all he had to force himself to and from there she would take the lead. Every time Harry had had a problem it was her who knew just how to solve it, why should it be different now? All she’d need is him who came back long enough for her to help.
With a deep breath Harry raised his hand and let his knuckles meet the door twice. A shudder ran down his back and his throat went dry.
What would he do? What would he say?

I know I was an asshole but I flew all the way back to LA for you so please forgive me?
I can’t explain it, but I miss you.
You haven’t left my mind in weeks, no matter how much I tried.

He couldn’t blame her should she shut the door right into his face if he dared bringing any of those weak excuses. His trail of thoughts was interrupted by the wooden door opening just a slim gap, allowing the person inside to see who it was interrupting their evening.
Harry braced himself, his heart skipping in his chest and he looked up eagerly to see the face he’d missed so much more he could have been prepared for.
But it wasn’t Y/N.

“Mary.”

Harry cleared his throat as the unexpected sight of Y/N’s friend threw him off guard. She narrowed her eyes once she realized it was in fact him and she opened the door wider, keeping hold of it to block him from entering.

“I knew you’d miss her,” she spoke, her voice nothing but unkind and empty of sympathy, “She is too good for you and I just knew you’d end up at her door once you realized that no girl you’d try replacing her with would compare.”

“Is she here?” Harry asked, ignoring the sting in his chest caused by her harsh words.
They were true in every way but his pride wasn’t going to just let him admit that.

“Yes,” Mary replied.

He paused, expecting her to say something more but she just continued to stare at him with venomous eyes.

“I need to see her,” he elaborated and took a step forward.

The gap quickly narrowed, but to his surprise Mary nodded. “The moment she calls for me to drag you back outside, I will.”

Harry nodded and pushed past Mary, entering the familiar space. He could still feel her enraged gaze on his back as his own eyes scanned the living room in search for his ex girlfriend, but she was no where.

“She’s in the bedroom.”

He uttered a thanks to the woman eyeing him and with weak knees he walked down the familiar hall and to the closed door or her bedroom, his heavy heart dropping to his stomach. He’d stood here so many times before.
Sometimes with flowers in his hands to surprise her just because she was as lovely as they were. On other days, mainly morning, he would take a moment to prepare for seeing her barely dressed and in her bed, his fingers tightening around the cups of coffee or the bag of breakfast he had gone to pick up.
Of course he also recalled the many nights where he’d stood right here, with her in his arms or hoisted up and pressed against the wood.
Never before had he stood here with fear rushing through his veins. It’d been him who’d rejected her, but he couldn’t imagine handling the situation if their roles were reversed. He was certain he wouldn’t be able to bear it.

Then he heard it. At first only faintly, then clear and loud enough for his heart to break.

Whimpers. Cries. Sobs.

Her face when it had finally dawned on her that he was leaving her had been a picture he’d replayed in his head over the past weeks.
His ears still rang with her cries and his eyes burned at the memory of her soft lips parting to beg him to stay with her.
And still, he hadn’t realized just how much he’d harmed her until now that he could hear her heartbreak through the thick wood of her door.
His hands pushed down the handle before he had thought twice about it and he rushed into the room. He could have sworn his soul crumbled at the sight of Y/N curled up in her bed, a thin blanked shielding her shivering body from the cold while she cried and sobbed into her pillow. Her arms were wrapped around the fluffy material and her head buried into it so Harry couldn’t see her face. Harry wasn’t sure if she’d even noticed his presence or not but he didn’t care.
Before Y/N could protest or really understand what was going on, he’d discarded his shoes and climbed up behind her. Both of his arms found their familiar hold around her waist and he felt tears shoot to his eyes when he finally buried his head into her neck, breathing in her comforting scent. His legs pushed hers apart before intertwining with them and so Y/N soon was cuddled into and against Harry, closer and tighter than she’d ever been before.

“I’m so sorry,” Harry breathed against her skin, “I love you.”

Not for a moment did he hope she might have missed the confession that had slipped his lips before he could stop it. Though Harry hadn’t thought about it before, hadn’t come to any conclusion and sure as hell hadn’t spoken to anyone about it, he realized it was true. He did love Y/N and any reason he’d dug up to break up with her had been for the sole purpose of stopping him from falling deeper.
But he loved her. And this time he wouldn’t leave.

“Forgive me,” he continued, his own voice breaking as his eyes stung with tears.

Y/N’s body was stiff aside form the occasional shakes by her crying and she did nothing to return his embrace. But she didn’t push him away either and this allowed him to hope.
His lips found her neck and he sobbed when happiness flooded his body, his skin tingling with the relief of finally having her close enough to touch again.

“This time will be different,” he promised against her before pressing another tender kiss to her skin, “I promise you, Y/N.”

And so they lay, on the very bed Harry had broken her heart on all those weeks ago. He thought it fitting that it was here he doing his best to mend it again.
But although he held her, breathed her in and murmured promises of how much he regretted it all, Harry continued to fail to understand just how deep his betrayal had cut and so he didn’t know that all Y/N’s head was screaming for was for him to disappear, even if her arms were too weak to push him off and her voice too thin to send him away.

….

When Harry awoke he was alone.
His hands didn’t need to pat the mattress in search for her, his entire body could feel her absence without having opened his eyes to confirm it. He felt cold.
He crawled out of bed with a groan and stretched his limps before walking gingerly to the closed door, down the hall and into the kitchen. His hands clenched and his heart skipped widely in his chest, nervous of what was going to happen next.
Y/N was standing with her back to him when he entered the small space of her kitchen and for a moment Harry considered sneaking up on her and wrapping her into an embrace, just like he’d done many times before. She turned around to face him before he got the chance.
Y/N’s eyes met his and he froze. Her gaze wasn’t anything like the loving and warm one he’d expected to receive. Instead, her eyes were bloodshot and swollen, proving just how much she’d cried last night, if not many more nights before that.
Her lips were bitten and dry, her hair appeared to be mat and when she raised her mug to her lips to drink he noticed how her hand was shaking.

“Did you sleep okay?”

It was a stupid question, he knew that even before he’d asked it, but he couldn’t think of anything else he could say. The girl before him looked nothing like the Y/N he knew.

“Can’t say I did.”

Not even her voice sounded the same, he noticed with a sinking heart.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured, unsure to which one of his many mistakes the apology applied for.

“Breakfast is in the fridge,” Y/N spoke without reacting to his words.

They ate in silence, Harry sitting on the table and Y/N leaning against the counter. He watched her hand trembling slightly whenever she raise the spoon full of cereal to her mouth and he needed to focus on his own fingers to keep them from shaking too.
Once they had both finished Y/N turned to wash her bowl clean, but flinched away from the water when Harry stepped close to do the same.

“Y/N,” he sighed, set down the ceramic he was holding, before leaning against the counter himself. “Talk to me.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Y/N answered quietly, “Other than  that I think you should leave.”

Her eyes refused to meet his and instead focused onto the floor. A frown took over his face.

“Leave?” He shook his head.

“Yes.”

“But Y/N,” he protested, “we made up. Last night when I climbed into your bed… we made up, didn’t we? Said I was sorry and promised to be different now…We made up.”

Though he’d wished to have her look him in the eyes again, the moment she did, he regretted it. Her orbs were cold and empty of any kindness.

“Because you climbed into my bed as I was crying?” The raw emotion in her voice knocked the breath right out of him. “You think that’s all it took?”

“I-” Harry began, but was interrupted.

“Surely you must know that it was you who’d made me cry last night. It’s been you every night for the past weeks.”

He swallowed hard and his stomach was in knots as he watched her turn around and exit the kitchen. Though he was worried about what would happen next, he followed her into the living room, this time aware of her resentment towards him and so he didn’t try and sit close to her again once she lowered herself onto the couch. Harry took a seat on one of her chairs and watched her warily, unsure if she wanted him to speak or had something to say herself. After a moment of silence he took a breath.

“I swear to you,” he began, “that me breaking up with you was in no way your fault. I know I made you feel as though it was, but it wasn’t. All you did was caring for me so much more than I’d imagined someone could and I fucked it all up simply because I didn’t know how to deal with that.”

“I didn’t think somebody caring for you would pose such a problem to you.”

“It didn’t,” Harry quickly argued, “Not a problem, but something that scared me. I didn’t want you to realize that I didn’t deserve you.”

Y/N laughed. “That’s bullshit. You wished that was why you broke up with me but we both know it isn’t.”

Harry fell silent. The girl before him shook her head and let her gaze wonder to the window, appearing deep in thought for a moment.

“I have spent every minute of every day since you abandoned me with ways of making sense of it. Do you realize that? While you were fucking her, I was sitting here wondering what I’d done to be thrown to the side like a plaything you decided you didn’t want anymore.”

“That’s not true,” Harry protested before he could stop himself, “I saw you with that man at the shops. I did nothing with anyone until I saw those pictures!”

“Oh, I’ve seen those photos, too,” Y/N spoke, her voice raising, “And you, of all people, should know that the media can make anything into a story! It was a guy who’d accidentally bumped into me and asked if I was alright. Nothing more.”

Oh.

“And what about you?” she continued “Did you also just happen to fall into that woman’s arms and did your mouths meet completely by chance? Did she stumble into your bed and you just coincidentally happened to be naked?”

“Stop.”

“Why? Don’t you want to think about her?”

“No,” he murmured, his eyes suddenly wet with tears.

Y/N swallowed hard and though it wasn’t easy for her to see the man she loved tormented, she had to admit that with every word she spoke, another weight was lifted off her chest.

“I’m not the first,” Y/N began, her tone gentler, “That’s what saddens me, too, though it saddens me more for you than it does for me. Tell me, what is the girl’s name? The one you left behind now so you could come to me.”

Harry froze. He looked at Y/N and if he wasn’t mistaken he recognized a hint of pity in her eyes. Not pity for herself, but for him.

“Do you not know? It’s Moira.”

Moira. Harry’s mind raced. Not Mia. Or Maya. Moira.

“I saw it in every picture that was posted online. She was like me, looked at you just the same. Are you aware that you broke her heart just the same you have broken mine?”

No, Harry thought, he couldn’t have.

“And what is the girl’s name you left before you first met me? And the girl before that and the girl before that? You have left so many people in the past few years there is a trail of heartbreak behind you and to this day you have remained completely unaware of it.”

Y/N’s cheeks were wet but her voice didn’t tremble.

“It isn’t the same,” Harry spoke, his voice hoarse, “you’re the only one I want, Y/N. We laster five months, that’s worth so much more than any fling I might have had before you.”

He closed his eyes and let his head fall into his palms.

“They meant nothing,” he swore, “and Moira,” he swallowed hard, “was only a distraction from you.”

“You said I wasn’t what you wanted,”  Y/N continued, “I assume you told all of them the same. You’ve let so many people down all because you selfishly chase a romanticized picture of a relationship you have in your head.”

“I’ll change,” Harry weeped against his palms, “From now on it’ll be only you. I don’t need any imagination of a relationship. I want what was real. Want it with you.”

He removed his palms form his face and got to his feet. He noticed her body tense when he neared but she didn’t move away, not even when he dropped to his knees before her.

“I’m in love with you.”

She shook her head. “Don’t,” she whispered and this time she allowed him to see her tears fall from her eyes, “don’t say that only because you’re scared.”

“I’m not,” Harry whispered, “It’s the truth, that’s why.”

Y/N didn’t flinch when he reached for her hands and his heart squeezed when she didn’t pull away.

“I am scared,” he continued, “How couldn’t I be? Your rejection would break my heart and I don’t know how I’d live with the knowledge that it is my fault that I lost you? But I’m not scared of being alone anymore, not enough to throw myself into random relationships like you were right, I have done all this time. I want you or nothing at all, Y/N. I love you.”

He watched her sob and squeezed her fingers with his gently, appreciating any skin touched by her warm tips. This small touches, the reluctant squeeze and tiny movements, meant so much more than the physical contact he’d graved and taken last night. He’d held her, kissed her, breathed her in. But this was voluntarily. She was holding his hands because she wanted to.
He could have rejoiced.
When her body fell forward and into his open arms, he didn’t know for sure if it was because she wanted it or just her body giving out, finally surrendering to the weight of her emotions.
He cried out when her arms settled around his neck and his heart broke when he felt her kiss his neck. After all this time, he could breathe again.

“Harry,” she whimpered.

“I’ll fix this,” he promised, “Everything. I’ll call and apologize to every woman I hurt in the past. You are right, always are, and I should apologize to them for my selfish actions. But you and I are different, Y/N. We’re real and I won’t let my stupid imagination ruin anything again. I don’t want the classic perfect. I want our perfect.”

She sobbed and held onto him tighter. Harry fell back to sit on the floor and a relieved laugh tumbled from his mouth when she followed to sit in his lap, both legs now wrapped around his waist.

“I love you,” he whispered against the shell of her ear.

He groaned when her small hands pulled at the strands of hair at the back of his neck, but obeyed and moved his head back so his eyes could meet hers. Her beautiful orbs were full of the loving care he’d missed so much and he felt another wave of tears rush to his own eyes.
For a moment she just looked at him, the man she’d given her heart to, who’d then broken it and now promised to mend it again. Harry.

“It’ll take time,” she murmured shyly and he nodded without hesitating, “but I think we’ve got enough of it.”

A smile danced on his mouth and his eyes closed when her soft lips met his in a tender kiss. He had her back, he thought, his heart full of joy and he wouldn’t ever be reckless enough to let her go again.

YouTuber!Au Series

Word Count: 2611

Genre: Fluff

(A/N): For this series, the scenarios will not be posted in age order of the members like we usually do, though we will still start with Coups here.

Los Angeles really was a beautiful city. Never before had you seen a city that could so seamlessly mix so many different cultures. And amongst it all, at the heart of all the diversity, was the same post-modern lifestyle that brought everyone together. You couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to go for your first proper vacation with your boyfriend of three years, Seungcheol.

You’d met him shortly before he started his ever-growing YouTube channel, meaning you got to be there for his growth, his lows, his highs; everything. And throughout everything, he stayed by your side too, never even laying eyes on any of those beauty vloggers that could easily have any man on YouTube they wanted. The both of you were so undoubtedly in love, his fans could even see it from the few videos of his you agreed to be in.

Seungcheol’s videos were mostly reviews of strange products he found online, random comedy rap songs, and the occasional gaming video (which are actually more like just him screaming then laughing when his characters die). They didn’t really give his audience any clues about his personal life, so whenever Seungcheol happened to do a more personal video, he’d usually invite you to be in it. You could tell he loved interacting with his fans and answering questions about himself. But, the Q&As got boring for him after a while. So, this time, he promised his fans something different.

Not only was Seungcheol visiting LA to collab with his friends Joshua and Vernon, he was also planning a relaxing getaway for the both of you, part of which he promised to vlog and upload to his channel.

“How could someone be so loving and considerate,” You thought as you lounged around in Seungcheol and your shared hotel suite, “And just… Perfect?”

It was still early afternoon and the sun hung highly in the crisp spring sky. The big windows in the living room of the suite allowed for the rays to illuminate the pristine hotel furniture. It was only your first full day there, so as you walked around to check out the room, you admired how beautiful the furniture and the wall art was. You could feel a pair of eyes on you, and you quickly turned around to discover that someone had been admiring you.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Your boyfriend asked you.

“The view is amazing, Cheol. I can’t believe you booked this room for the entire week.” You replied, still astounded by the scenery outside.

“Oh, I wasn’t talking about the view. Though, my view right now is pretty great.”

You walked over and playfully slapped his shoulder before scurrying away slightly and pulling your shirt down to below your butt, so he couldn’t see your underwear. With your back facing him, you could only hear his voice, but somehow you felt the smirk on his face.

“Hey,” Seungcheol laughed, “Need I remind you, that’s my shirt. If you stretch it too much I’m not going to want it back. Which, in all honesty, probably isn’t even a bad thing because it looks so cute on you.”

As you blushed at his comment, a pair of arms latched onto your waist and pulled you closer to their owner.

“When are you leaving for Joshua’s house?” You asked, tilting your head a bit to the side in order to hide your blush. But this only gave Seungcheol more access to the side of your neck, which he didn’t hesitate to pepper with little pecks.

“We’re meeting tomorrow,” He said, in between kisses, “Today is all about you.”

“Really?” You asked, turning to face him.

He placed a chaste kiss on your lips before answering, “Well, you and the vlog. I planned some sightseeing things for today so I figured I might as well just vlog that. I mean, who wants to see a twenty minute long video of us just sitting at the beach?”

“Hmm, good point,” You responded, “So then, what kind of sightseeing things are we and your camera doing today?”

“Well,” He began, laying his chin on your shoulder, “Joshua told me about this really great shopping neighborhood. We could walk around for a while in there, then I made a reservation at this really fancy restaurant.”

“Oh? How fancy are we talking?”

“Like, I wouldn’t even be able to afford a table if YouTube didn’t give me a bunch of money to blow on this trip.”

Eyes widening, you replied, “Wow, so what should I wear then?”

“I don’t know, maybe like a short, fancy dress?”

You nodded at his suggestion, trying to assess your options.

“I’ll have to check my black box to see what dresses I brought.” You said.

Seungcheol’s grip around your waste loosened and his eyebrows furrowed, “Black box?”

“Oh, sorry. I meant to say ‘my black suitcase’.” You explained.

He nodded, seeming quite weary, and withdrew his hands from you altogether. As you watched his hunched figure shuffle into the bathroom and close the door, you pondered why Seungcheol could have been so taken aback by your little mistake. Though, you quickly shrugged it off, as he came out again soon afterwards, looking perfectly fine. The both of you quickly forgot the whole incident and began getting ready to go.

-

“So if you guys want, when we get back to Korea we could do a little haul video.” Seungcheol remarked at his camera.

The two of you were leisurely roaming down the sunny streets of LA, as Seungcheol filmed himself and some of the sights he thought looked nice. He’d been blabbing on to his camera for quite a while. You tried to remain interested, but he was just talking about random potential video ideas, so your mind started drifting off. Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed a quaint yet expensive-looking chocolate shop.

“Wow,” You exclaimed, tugging on the sleeve of Seungcheol’s dress shirt, “That chocolate shop looks really cool!”

“Do you wanna check it out?” He asked with a cackle, admiring the way you were so excited by chocolate like a little kid.

“Yes! One more thing to put in the haul.” You joked.

With another giggle, he turned his attention back to the camera and stated, “Alright guys, we’re going to check out that little chocolate shop. I’ll find out whether or not we can film in there and if we can, I’ll see you guys inside the shop.”

He placed a hand over the lens and stopped recording, then used his free hand to hold yours as you led him into the store.

With the jingle of some bells, the both of you ventured into the little shop and as you began revering the chocolate, Seungcheol asked one of the employees if he was allowed to film inside. You couldn’t hear their conversation from where you were, but the skinny, snooty-looking cashier did not seem to be falling for Seungcheol’s puppy dog eyes. You could infer what happened as soon as Seungcheol returned to your side, shoulders hunched as he put his camera into his backpack.

“That guy was not having it.” He chuckled.

You snickered and returned to your admiring of the fancy chocolates, feeling an arm place itself on your shoulder.

Pointing at the chocolate covered cherries, Seungcheol said in awe, “Wow, those look delicious.”

“Would you want to get those?” You asked.

He nodded eagerly in response, earning slight giggle from you. Seungcheol called the snobby-looking employee back over to pack up the cherries.

“Ok sir, would you like those in a white or a black box?” Asked the employee.

“A… B-black box?” Seungcheol stuttered.

You couldn’t figure out why Seungcheol was so stunned by the words “black box”, but you could tell the employee was having the same thoughts.

“We’ll take them in the white box.” You interjected.

The employee nodded and began placing the chocolate covered cherries in the box. When he was done, he handed the box to your boyfriend, whose eyes were still wide with shock. Though, he managed to snap out of it long enough to take out his company credit card and pay for the chocolates.

As the both of you exited the shop, you couldn’t help but dwell upon the situation for a bit longer, thinking about earlier in the day too. Why was Seungcheol so awestruck whenever someone mentioned a black box?

Your thought process was interrupted by Seungcheol taking his camera back out and continuing to talk about the chocolate shop. This time, you were left unable to zone out as he opened the box and fed you a cherry. He then proceeded to tell his viewers about the fancy dinner reservations he made for later on, and explained that that was the reason why you were both dressed so nicely.

After another two hours of walking around and shopping in the random stores you’d come across, Seungcheol called the both of you a taxi to take you to the restaurant.

-

“Choi, party of two.” Said Seungcheol to the maitre’d, subtly trying to out-fancy him by using an abnormally deep voice and fixing his tie.

After checking his book, the maitre’d stepped out from behind his host stand and gestured, “Follow me. I’ve an excellent table for the both of you.”

As the bony old man led you to the table, you could see that he was right. The table Seungcheol reserved was on the balcony of the restaurant, right next to the fence. From your seats, you both could see the majestic skyline of the city, in the glorious sunset lighting.

“Oh my gosh, Cheol.” You gasped as you admired the breathtaking scenery.

Pulling out your chair for you, Seungcheol replied, “It’s amazing, isn’t it? Kind of like you.”

As he shuffled to his own seat, you playfully smacked his shoulder for being cheesy.

“You’re so corny. It’s a good thing you’re cute to balance it out.” You admitted.

“Hey, you don’t mind if I vlog some of this, do you? I talked to the manager on the phone a few days ago and he said I could film here.”

“No, go ahead. This place is so beautiful, your fans should see it too.”

“Thanks, (Y/N). I must be the luckiest guy alive to be able to spend my time with someone as understanding and stunning as you. But, don’t worry, I’ll only vlog the food and a little bit of us talking.”

You blushed at his compliment as the waitress arrived and gave you both menus.

“Hello, I’ll be your server for tonight. May I start you two out with some drinks?” Asked the petite brunette.

“Do you have any recommendations?” Seungcheol asked in response.

“Well, if you’re looking for something virgin, we make fresh fruit smoothies in-house. In terms of alcohol, most everything on the menu goes very well with champagne or certain wines. My personal favorite would be the Black Box pinot grigio.”

You only nodded at the waitress’s suggestion, not really thinking much about the wine, since you didn’t plan on drinking.

You looked up from your menu momentarily to ask your boyfriend what he thought about the recommendation, only to find him looking very uncomfortable, his eyes opened almost comically wide.

“Uh, you can order whatever you want, (Y/N). I have to find a restroom.”

With that, Seungcheol scurried off, leaving you alone with the waitress.

“We’ll both just have water, I guess, and a strawberry banana smoothie for me.” You told the waitress, sending her your best smile through the worry you felt for Seungcheol.

The waitress hurried off and quite a while passed before Seungcheol returned to the table. You would have asked him what was wrong, but he looked like he was not in the mood to talk. He simply trudged over to his seat and opened his backpack, which he’d placed right next to the chair. He looked through its contents for a moment then grabbed his camera and placed it on the table, not uttering a single word the whole time.

He set up the camera so that it could capture the both of you and the view of the city.

Before he pressed record, he turned to you apologetically, “Sorry about that. The toilet was calling and my bladder could not help but answer.”

After winning a laugh from you, he chuckled to himself and began recording.

“Alright guys, so we bought a lot of cool stuff earlier but we stashed it all in the hotel room and now we’re at the restaurant!” He filled in his viewers.

“This place is absolutely amazing,” You chimed in, “It’s like I can see the entire city from up here.”

“And the decor is so fancy. I’m going to feel like a millionaire until our waitress is inevitably rude to us then we have to leave!” He joked.

The two of you burst into laughter, earning strange looks from the other fancy diners. Once you both managed to settle down, the waitress arrived with your drinks. You imagined that Seungcheol would probably ask you what you were drinking and have you explain it for the sake of the vlog, but instead, he covered the lens with a napkin.

“Hey, (Y/N), I wanted to talk to you about earlier.” He said.

You hastily put the straw in your smoothie then turned your attention to him, “What about it?”

“Well, um, it was kind of obvious that I had something on my mind. And I bet you thought it was weird how I always seemed to freak out whenever anyone said ‘black box’.”

“I did notice that, but I didn’t really think much of it.”

“Good, good. That’s really good.”

The conversation died down a bit, leaving the two of you in an awkward silence.

Seungcheol cleared his throat, “It was just because… For the whole day… I was carrying a black box.”

“What?” You asked, your eyebrows furrowing.

Seungcheol took the napkin off the camera lens and allowed it time to focus before talking again.

“I had a surprise planned for you, to show you here, so I was worried that someone had found out about it. But, I was just being ridiculous.” He said.

He paused again, leaving you to grow more and more nervous. But after a moment, his eyes darted down, at his own pants. He reached into his pocket and pulled out none other than a small, black box.

“(Y/N), you mean so much to me, and I love you more than I’ve ever loved anything or anyone else. You make me so happy, so, if you’ll accept, I’d like a chance to make you happy… Forever. Will you marry me?”

Seungcheol opened the box to reveal a ring. The band was white gold and the diamond was bigger than you expected. You looked from the ring to your boyfriend, his eyes beaming with anticipation. As you reached your hand across the table, it allowed for him to take the ring from the box and slide it onto your ring finger.

You couldn’t find any words to express how you felt about the situation. Instead of talking, you simply admired the ring on your finger and how it caught the gleam of the orange sunset.

You opted for a simple, “Yes.”

Seungcheol reached over to take your hand again and placed a delicate kiss on its backside. With the crisp California air and your fiancé’s loving grin, everything just felt perfect as the sun set on what was undoubtedly the best day of your life.

Nervous on the first day, you become completely awkward, winning the affection of the divorced Jensen Ackles. You try to fight your desire for him, but he thwarts you at every turn. Catch Up Here: Masterpost

Things had been going smoothly that week, or at least you thought they had. Every morning you would arrive to work, early as always, getting everything set up for the day. Jeannie would come waltzing in a little later, giving the two of you enough time to gossip a little before it was time to start changing the way people looked. You loved your new job, the challenges, the friendships you were creating. You couldn’t ask for anything more.

And then there was your relationship with Jensen. While the two of you hadn’t had a chance to go on another date, he spent as much of his free time in the make up trailer as possible. You laughed at the excuses he would come up with, sometimes wiping off the blood, or rubbing oil onto his face on purpose. Then there were those mornings he would show up, two coffee cups in his hands, and the two of you would spend the early morning hours talking about anything and everything you could think of.

You two would be watching a movie with the boys, bags of snacks scattered on the table. As you watched the movie, Namjoon would snake his arms around your waist, attempting to hug you from behind. You’d smirk, playfully smacking his hands away, simply to mess with him a little bit. Wriggling out of his grasp, you’d spin around to face him directly, blowing him a kiss with a giggle.

“Yah, (Y/N), why are you doing this to me?” Namjoon would laugh, poking your sides gently. Once again, you’d lightly swat his hands away, continuing to giggle at his expression of playful annoyance.

“Cut it out you two, I wanna watch the film!” Yoongi would complain, chucking a pillow at Namjoon, causing you to giggle at his surprised expression.

He’d shake his head at your resistance, covering his face as he grinned, finding you absolutely adorable. You’d finally give in, giving him a peck on the cheek as you beamed up at him with a loving expression, Namjoon finally pulling you in for a hug. He’d rest his chin on your shoulder, as you finally focused your attention back to the movie playing.

You would be rushing about in the kitchen, preparing dinner for both you and Jin. Walking back and forth from the fridge to the oven to the counter, you’d wipe the sweat off your forehead with a cloth, the kitchen having heated up from the warmth of the oven. Jin would wander into the kitchen, having caught the mouth-watering scent coming from the room. He’d pause by the doorway, watching as your hair bounced around, tied up in a neat ponytail, as you crossed from the counter to the oven once again. He’d admire how cute you looked in the slightly oversized apron, smiling to himself as he’d watch you fussing over the cooking.

As you’d be so focused on making sure the food was cooking properly, you wouldn’t notice as Jin walked up behind you, and therefore taking you by surprise as he’d bury his chin into your shoulder. “What are you cooking, jagiya?” He’d question, as he’d stand by you, twirling your hair with his fingers.

“Not now, Jin,” you’d shake your head, your lips curving upwards in a slight smile. “We don’t want the food to burn now, do we?” You’d glance up at him, deliberately fluttering your eyelashes at him, just to annoy him. Jin would let out an airy sigh, as you chuckled, your attention focusing back on the task at hand. “She’s such a tease sometimes,” he’d smile to himself, grabbing an apron to help you out.

Yoongi would come back home, exhausted after a full day of relentless practice. “(Y/N), I’m home,” he’d call out as he stepped through the door, taking out his earphones. Being met with no answer, he’d call out again, “(Y/N)?” Tossing his shoes to the side, he’d step into the living room to see you sleeping peacefully on the couch, curled up into a ball. He’d notice you clutching one of his T-shirts, and wouldn’t be able to help but smile, his heart melting slightly at such a cute sight.

Discarding his bag and coat onto a nearby chair, he’d attempt to lay down next to you, shifting around as he tried to get comfortable. Just when he finally settles into one position, you’d groan sleepily, shifting backwards and accidentally pushing Yoongi off the couch in the process.

The loud thud would shock you awake, and you’d immediately sit up, hair slightly dishevelled, as you rub your eyes, vision still slightly blurry. “Yoongi?” you’d ask, looking down to see him sat on the floor, rubbing his side.

“All I wanted was to cuddle with you, (Y/N).” He’d pout, causing you to giggle at him, as he looked like an adorable little kid sitting there on the floor.

“I’m sorry, jagi,” you’d say, still giggling. He’d simply grin, laughing it off as you helped him up.

“Now, do I get my cuddle?” He’d ask, arms outstretched in anticipation.

“Oh look, suddenly I’m no longer tired!” You’d get up, walking straight past him, attempting to suppress your laugh at his betrayed yet playful expression.

Hoseok and the other boys would be getting ready for a live performance at a music show, and you’d decided to tag along, watching as the make-up noonas dashed around the room from member to member, trying to ensure everyone was ready in time for the performance. Brushes, eyeliner pencils and assorted bottles would be scattered around by the mirrors, the room buzzing with the sound of conversation and laughter. You’d be sitting on a row of chairs, casually chatting to Namjoon, while you glanced over at Hoseok who would still be getting his make-up done.

You’d wander around the room, walking back and forth from each member, as you’d have brief conversations with them all. After finally finishing up with the make-up noona and Jin taking his place, Hoseok would scan the busy room, searching for you. He’d finally spot you in the corner of the room, deep in conversation with Taehyung. He’d have to manoeuvre through several people to get to you, as the room would be so densely packed.

Finally reaching you, he’d wrap his arms around your shoulders, as he beamed up at you, his face immediately lighting up. Taehyung would giggle, finding you two to be absolutely adorable. You’d playfully swat Hoseok’s hands away, saying, “I was in the middle of a conversation with Taehyung,” turning around to face him, and pouting in mock annoyance.

“But babeeee,” he’d whine, giving you puppy eyes. When you failed to budge, instead standing there with your arms crossed, a small smile beginning to form on your face, he’d resort to doing aegyo, in an attempt to make you laugh. Your annoyed stance would falter, before you’d give up completely, breaking out into laughter and pulling him in for a hug.

“Ah, you know I can’t resist your aeygo, Hobi.”

BTS would be holding a fan meeting, and you’d decided to come along, without actually telling Jimin. The room would be filled with eager fans, the queue stretching out for what seemed like miles. You’d decided to surprise Jimin, and so you’d join the end of the queue, clutching your copy of the album in your hands. You’d lean over to the side, glancing down the queue. You’d sigh, running one hand through your hair as you realised just how long you’d likely to be standing there.

After what seemed like an endless amount of time, you’d perk up, realising you’d finally reached the front. Biting back a laugh, you’d slowly move down the line, greeting all the members just like a fangirl would do. The members would all crack up laughing when they realised it was you, grinning their heads off when you continued to deliberately act oblivious. Jungkook would glance down at Jimin who was signing another fan’s poster, smiling and waving as he’d move down to the next person, Jungkook cracking up all over again.

“Annyeong haseyo oppa!” You’d greet Jimin with a small bow, having finally reached him down the line. You’d set your copy of the album down on the table, beaming up at him yet internally laughing. Jimin would sit there in shock for a second, before breaking out into a giggle, eyes closing in his usual eye smile. He’d take your hands in his, asking, “(Y/N), what are you doing here?” You’d continue your charade, shyly pulling your hands away, and looking away, giggling with mock nerves. “W-what do you mean, oppa?” You’d glance back at Jimin, only to look away shyly again. Jimin would laugh the whole time, slightly impressed by your acting skills. He’d attempt to lean over to peck you on the cheek, but you’d pull away, giggling in an overly girlish way. After a few minutes of acting, you’d finally burst into laughter, clutching your sides.

“Do you like my acting skills, jagi?” You’d ask, smirking up at Jimin. “I should be an actress, right?”

Jimin would simply shake his head, still laughing uncontrollably. When he’d finally calm down, he’d lean forwards again, kissing you on the forehead.

“I’m sure you’ll be scouted by an acting agency soon, jagiya.” He’d reply, shaking his head at your mischievousness.

They’d all be be playing Jenga together, as you sat by watching, shaking your head with a laugh every time they’d manage to tip over the tower. Taehyung would attempt to pull out a block with as careful precision as he could manage, yet somehow still knocking over the tower. As the other boys cracked up laughing, Taehyung would lean onto your shoulder, his body shaking with laughter.

The game would start again from the beginning, Jin making the first move. As you’d intently watch the game go on, Taehyung would scoot up behind you, attempting to wrap his legs around you. You’d move over to the side away from Taehyung, just to tease him.

“Yah, jagi,” he’d whine, once again scooting towards you, arms outstretched. You’d shake your finger at him, blowing a kiss to him as you laugh, continuing to escape away from him. Taehyung would begin chasing you around the other boys who were circled around the game, the sound of laughter filling the room. At this point, no-one would be paying attention to the game, instead everyone cheering you on as you playfully ran away, your hair flying into your face as you ran. Eventually, you’d tire and Taehyung would finally catch up to you, grabbing you around the waist as you both collapsed on the floor in laughter and fatigue.

As you sat down, Jungkook would grin up at you, leaning in to give you a kiss. You’d also lean in, inches away from his face, lips about to make contact when you’d suddenly pull away, one corner of your lips turned upwards in a devilish smirk. Jungkook would look at you in slight surprise for a second. “Oh, so that’s how it is?” he’d ask with a playful tone. “Is that a challenge, babe?”

Suddenly, before you’d have a chance to react, his hands would fly to your sides, tickling you relentlessly. Taehyung would simply sit and watch as the two of you fought it out in a tickle war, snickering at the sight of you two.

Jungkook would end up straddling you, still tickling at your sides as you shrieked with laughter. “Okay, okay, you win!” Your hands flying upwards in surrender, and only then would Jungkook lay off, cheering in victory.

Summary: A crossover fic for @jensennjared ‘s Entertainment AU. Set in the world of Masters of Sex, this is a Destiel fic. Dean and Cas participate in Dr. Masters’ study on human sexuality. (If you haven’t watched Masters of Sex, you might want to google a brief synopsis, but the fic should still make sense without it.)

Word Count: 2400

Warnings: smut, voyeurism, sex for a medical study, mentions of the homophobia typical of the 1950s (the time period for this fic)

A/N: This one was fun to write. Hope y’all enjoy it! XOXO

“You did what?” Dean sets his lunchbox on the counter of their tiny apartment, the metal hitting the counter with a clang. He rests his hands next to the small box, leaning over slightly, trying to calm down before this turns into a real fight. Cas couldn’t have waited until after dinner? He had to blurt this out as soon as Dean walked in from work? He still had car oil on his hands, for fuck’s sake.

Cas slides up behind him, wraps his arms around him, and Dean feels a chin on his shoulder. “Don’t be mad until you hear me out, okay? Please?”

Dean doesn’t lean in to the touch, but he doesn’t pull away. “I’m listening,” he says through gritted teeth. “This better be good.”

Sherlock was out on a case; (Y/N) calculated he would be away for at least three more hours. She had no idea what the case was about, or who ended up being the criminal, and she didn’t care at all. She needed to do it.

That day had been rough, and she was feeling less than nothing. Sherlock was far too focused on his case and ignored her, as usual. Not that she expected much from him, they had only been together for a month and Sherlock wasn’t precisely affective. But sometimes one just needs a little bit of attention.

He was a know-it-all. From the instant they met, Sherlock deduced everything about her… Almost everything about her. He always missed a detail and the one he missed on her was one of the most important part of her life, whether she liked it or not.

Hiding the scars wasn’t hard. London was a place so cold it wasn’t weird to wear sweaters and multiple layers of clothing; also, Sherlock hadn’t tried to get intimate with her, maybe his disgust for other humans or the fact that, for a whole month, he had gotten a case right after the other.

She locked herself in the bathroom, taking off all of her clothes and the small razor blade she carried in her makeup bag. Nobody had ever noticed it, she could’ve worn it as a necklace and everyone would’ve thought it was a fashion statement but it was more than that.

Her inner pain was far too hard to bear, and needed to be opaque against something else. Physical pain, yes, that was her only way out. When the brain is too focused on the outside, it forgets about the inside.

Her tears ran a second after her fingers grabbed the blade. She knew it was wrong, she knew she had to stop, but she lived in a world where no one noticed how much she ached; no one noticed her suffering, her fear… Not even the Great Sherlock Holmes, who everyone thought of a master mind, someone who no one could keep a secret from him.

“Ha-ha” (Y/N) whispered at the thought, she had hidden something from him and she hadn’t been discovered.

The cold blade ripped her skin as she moved it swiftly over her thighs. The burn gave her a sweet release, something no therapy could, but she was insatiable. She needed more than one cut to forget about his inner pain for the rest of the week. Hence, she made another one, and another one, and another one until the bathroom floor had small droplets of blood.

She stayed there, observing the red liquid running down her shivering skin. It was warm, and dark… When people thought of red liquids to forget, they usually think of wine, but this… This was more intoxicating than any wine.

She was too mesmerized by it, and so she didn’t hear when Sherlock arrived two and a half hours earlier. If she had only known that the criminal wore too many fluorescent colours to sneak in the darkness… It was harder to cut a cake than to trap him.

Sherlock noticed the locked door before even touching it. He knew (Y/N) was there, he had asked her to wait for him because Watson insisted that he owed her a date. But she was quiet, only a soft sob could be heard from afar, almost like a whisper and Sherlock – aware of the many death threats he and his friends received daily – couldn’t think of something else but to drop to the floor and try to see something from the little separation from the door to the floor.

He didn’t have a clear view, but he saw the droplets of blood as well as her bare feet next to them. Judging by her position, she was leaning over the toilet, like she had fainted, and so Sherlock panicked. He opened the door with a kick and revealed (Y/N), wearing only her underwear, with a blade in hand and with dry blood all over her legs, arms and belly.

“What did you do?” He whispered, falling to his knees.

[INTERVIEW] Armed & Dangerous

An interview by Armie Hammer Global

With at least four movies coming out this year, including the explosive Free Fire and the exquisite Call Me By Your Name, 2017 will definitely be a busy year for Armie. At Armie Hammer Global, we sat down to speak with the boss man himself about his career, his upcoming projects, and even about fans.

Let’s set the scene for all of you. It’s April Fool’s Day, but this meet up is dead serious (well…not really but at least a little bit). We are spread on three different time zones and two continents, but the common sunny weather makes it seem like the three of us are all in the same place, and of course, we’re all smiles. We won’t lie to you…it took a hot minute to all but Samurai Jack our way around some technical difficulties, but if there’s one common trait we share, it’s the ability to be absolute troopers through hardship. Thankfully, it wasn’t terribly long before we were all face-to-face (screen-to-face?) with one another and ready to delve into our little chat, starting with Armie’s incredible adaptability.

Armie Hammer Global: Your filmography is very diverse. One project is completely different from another. You’ve been in big productions, indie films, you’ve played a lot of different characters. Was this richness something you wanted and aimed for?
Armie Hammer: Yes and no. You know, that’s part of the fun of being an actor; it’s getting to do all the different stuffs and getting to work with different people and do different projects, play different characters, which is a lot of fun. I’ve been really lucky that I’ve got to do a little bit of an array of different characters. But the main criteria for how I pick my projects is really who is directing it. It’s just so important in movie making, the director and his vision and his execution of that. That has so much more to do with how a movie turns out than I feel almost anything else, including the script and all the rest. It really is just about the director. More than anything I just aim to work with a diverse list of directors, therefore it’s been a great process getting to work with so many different directors and do so many different projects. I feel lucky. More so than actually I feel like I am in control of making the decisions.

What a perfect transition with our next question! We know that you would like to direct someday. What kind of director would you be? The one that writes, produces and does everything, or just stay behind the camera?
It’s a good question. I don’t know yet. I know that I want to direct movies and I’ve been privileged enough to see so many great directors sort of first-hand direct movies, and I’ve said to myself, “Oh, I’m definitely going to steal that,” or, “Oh, that’s a really good idea, I’ll make sure I do that.” I would like to think that I would have the attention to details that David Fincher has, the relaxed warm nature that Stanley Tucci has, the vision that Ben Wheatley has. All the directors each bring something so different to it. I don’t know what I would bring to it because I haven’t done it yet.

Do you usually pay attention to the reviews of your movies and has one ever upset you? Have you ever critiqued a critic about you?
I would ultimately like to say I never read reviews, and that they never bothered me or anything like that, but the fact of the matter is when you’re there and the movie is coming out, it’s such a sort of all-encompassing feeling where everybody is on pins and needles. Everybody is anticipating the release and what’s going to happen, how numbers are going to look, what the reviews are going to say. If they’re good people kind of celebrate and they say, “Look at this one, look at this one!”, and if they’re bad, they go, “Look what you wrote!”. It’s impossible to avoid them, just because that’s the society and that’s the age we live in now. But I don’t seek out reviews, definitely. I definitely have read things said about me, in reviews and things like that, specifically about Lone Ranger. That one got a really bad reaction from really everybody without anyone expecting it. That one didn’t feel so good, other than that, it’s been fine.

And you have received some really great reviews for Call Me By Your Name!
Yeah, we got a lot! But I’m more excited about the fact that Luca got such great reviews. We were in all those places where we were premiering the movie, and just seeing how happy it made him it was really nice.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, Call Me By Your Name is the adaptation of the same titled book written by Andre Aciman. It tells the love story between Elio Perlman (played by Timothée Chalamet), a 17 years-old American-Italian boy spending the summer in the family villa in Italy, and Oliver (played by Armie in the film), a 24 years-old American scholar who stays with the Perlmans for the summer in order to work on his doctorate and help Elio’s father with his correspondences. Set in the 80’s, Call Me By Your Name takes you on a ride through a beautiful and hot Italy. The film was very appreciated by the audiences of Sundance and the Berlinale, two movie festivals where it was played. The various screenings were followed by unanimously positive reviews from both the festivalgoers and critics.
Call Me By Your Name is set to have a limited release in New York and Los Angeles starting on November 24th 2017.

Armie as Oliver in Call Me By Your Name. Picture courtesy of Sony Pictures Classic.

In the book, Elio describes Oliver as a complex person. Do you think that Oliver is as complex as Elios sees him, or is it Elio’s youth and inexperience that blinds him?
It’s both. They are both really intricate and complex humans. They are two people trying to figure themselves out. They are trying to figure out life, they are trying to discover what they like, what they enjoy, what sets them off. It’s not necessarily that one is more complex than the other or anything like that. Both of them are sort of like coming of age and discovering themselves. Obviously, more or so with Elio because he is a little bit younger than Oliver. It’s honestly about two people finding a connection and really realizing that there is something deeper there and having the courage to do something about it. And in some ways, you can really relate to what is happening to them. Everybody has felt, at some point in their life, that feeling of butterflies in the stomach. You don’t know why you feel this when you’re around that specific person, but you know that you feel something strong with them, and having to find the courage to do something about it, the beauty that can unfold with that. And then like all great summer romances that almost everybody’s had, they end.

What was the most complicated thing about playing a role like Oliver? Were you anxious about filming the more sensual scenes?
I wouldn’t say that I was anxious about filming the sensual scenes. I would say that there were things in this movie I had to do on camera that I had never done on camera before, like being comfortable being naked or being intimate with another man. I have never done that in my personal life, being intimate with another man (laughs). For me, I recognize more than anything, it was going to be a very good challenge as an actor because I would have to act, because this isn’t something I do in my everyday life, this isn’t something I really recognize. I had to do a lot of work to understand the psychology behind these guys, I had to do a lot of work to understand the things that they did together because it’s just different from how I live my life. Which is, by the way, I guess, all acting really is. It should be different from you, right? Otherwise, we are just doing the same part over and over.

Would you say that acting is a form of art?
Yes, it’s just a different medium. You don’t use paint or brushes or anything like that, but acting is one of the oldest jobs in the world, and basically our job as an actor is to be able to put ourselves into a situation and allow someone watching it a way into it. For Call Me By Your Name for example, everybody has been talking about this peach scene, where Elio is intimate with a peach. I honestly don’t get it. Nothing about that scene really makes sense to me necessarily; because I never had sex with a piece of fruit and I have never eaten a fruit that someone else has had sex with. And I wouldn’t think a lot of people have. But our job while in that scene is to give somebody a window into it where even if they go, “I would never do that, I would not do it,” they also say, “but I understand why these two people are doing this”. It’s about experiencing it yourself while you’re there, but also emoting such a way that you give people a way into it, which is the challenge. It’s our job as an actor to sort of reflect what’s going on in society, give it back to people, give them something to think about, give them something to feel. Not to sound all grandiose or whatever.

Armie Hammer is the cool Ord in Ben Wheatley’s new movie Free Fire. Picture courtesy of A24.

Boston, 1978, a gun deal in an empty warehouse goes wrong and turns into a real bullets fest. That is Free Fire, a brilliant and explosive comedy directed by Ben Wheatley and in which Armie plays Ord, the middleman that looks way too cool for the situation. Free Fire is simply an hour and a half of pure fun and great lines sublimed by a talented cast. Already out in the UK, the movie will hit more theaters across the world by the end of April, including in North America on April 21st, Russia and Australia on April 27th.

We saw Free Fire and absolutely loved it! What struck us the most in the movie is that, despite the crazy and out of hand situation depicted, every shot seems really precise.
If you knew how much work actually went into the film and Ben. They had to plan out every bullet hit in the movie months before we got there. And then you have a bunch of actors who show up and go, “Actually, I wanna go over there and do that,” and he’s like, “Nonono you can’t go over there”. It was like a real process. It’s so funny because when we started making that movie the script was sort of different from now. Because Ben is so fluid as a director, he writes and comes up with everything, he and his wife together. If there was anything that needed change it was changed right there on the set. And all of us got together, all the acting crew, and had such a good time with this movie that it just became funny. It really kind of became what it is now. A lot of the lines that you see that are like, the funny lines, whether it’s some of Sharlto (Copley) or some of mine, are all things that we really came up with on set.

Ord is quite the character. Despite the situation, he seems to keep things in control and it’s intriguing. Tell us a bit more about him. What is his story? Where does his calm come from?
Basically, Ord is so calm…because he’s just seen too much shit. This is like 1978, so about 8 years after he probably got back from Vietnam. This is the backstory that I gave the character. The reason why he got the nickname Ord is that he was an explosive expert in Vietnam. And his specialty, because he is a bit of a sick, twisted fucker, is that he would put posters in Vietnamese on a tree with big writing, and every line the writing would get a little bit smaller, a little bit smaller and a little bit smaller till eventually it was tiny. Then he would put landmines at the bottom of the tree so people would come up to read it and blow up. He’s a bit of a head case and he was in Vietnam, and I read a book about Vietnam called the Short Timers, which is actually a book that Full Metal Jacket is based of off. I read that and there is a really interesting line about it that says, “You don’t know the truth until you know death,” or something like that, “because death is the ultimate truth and everything else is really lies”. These guys in Vietnam expected to die every single minute so they just became friends with death, in a weird way, because they knew it was the only truth that existed, like, “He’s not a bad guy or a good guy, the truth is, he’s gonna die and I’m gonna die”. So, Ord came so close to dying so many times, like, “I should be dead so it doesn’t really matter at this point anymore”. He gets shot and he’s like, “Ah fuck”! He doesn’t have fear because he has already been so scared that nothing can scare him anymore. That’s why he’s pretty cool under pressure, that’s why he knows how to work with firearms better than anybody else, that’s why he is tactically minded, and that’s why as soon as it started to elevate, he backs up.

Do you have a lot of control on how you create your characters?
I would say it is teamwork. The writer is ultimately the one that puts everything down on paper. And then if the script is good enough, the director gets involved, and then boom you have a movie that kind of starts to go. The writer really sort of comes up with the foundation of everything. But obviously, they have written it before anybody was casted, so it’s not like he can tailor-make a role that fits perfectly. He makes the role that’s in his head. So once they hire an actor, it’s about finding symbiosis between the actor, the writer, and the director so that everybody is happy. Ultimately, you want the writer to be happy, the director to be happy and you, as an artist, you want to be happy. So it becomes more like teamwork. Sometimes you have more control sometimes you have less. I mean, when I did the Social Network, I had very little control over everything because the other people in control were David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin, and I definitely don’t think I know more than these guys.

Let’s talk about Mine because that really is a big moment for you! That was the very first movie you were just starring by yourself, your name is on the poster and everywhere. How does that feel for you? And congratulations by the way!
Thank you! It was great. It was a lot of pressure, especially because, for a majority of the movie, I’m really the only person on screen. I probably shot 75% of the film by myself, as the only actor and person in the scene, which is crazy. It doesn’t really give you anything to play of off, anybody to take cues from. It was a lot of work and we shot it in the Canary Islands, small islands channel along the coast of Morocco, it was hot, it was windy, we had sandstorms, lightning strikes, and it was just crazy. It was an intense filming. But I am happy I got to work with two great new Italian directors, Fabio and Fabio. I got to work with Tom Cullen who, in my opinion, is one of the best working actors out there right now. Annabelle Wallis as well, she was fantastic, Jeff Bells…it was a lot of fun making that movie. For a movie I basically stand still the entire time, I was shocked at how physically challenging it was.

Mike has to survive 52 hours in the desert with one knee on the ground. Not the most comfortable position, how was it for you?
I was probably kneeling 10 hours a day, for a month or something. My right knee still pops and gives me trouble and hurts. I was on my right knee the whole time with my left foot up. My knee is still kind of shocked.

Armie hits where you don’t expect him, including in animated movies. Earlier this year, the actor officially joined the Cars family and voiced Jackson Storm, one of the new characters from the third installment of the Disney Pixar franchise. We don’t know much about his cool-looking character yet, except that he is really fast and, apparently, not so likable.

First of all, we are very, very excited about this particular project because we love Cars! How did you become a part of the project?
I don’t actually know. I got a phone call from my agent one day, and he was like, “Buddy, I just got a call from Pixar,” and I was like, “What?” and he’s like, “They want you to be in the new Cars movie,” and I was like, “Are you serious? I’m so excited!” I was really lucky; I didn’t have to audition, I didn’t have to do anything. They just kind of called and said, “Do you want to be in this movie?” Maybe they were like, “You know Armie is an asshole, he’d be a really good asshole in the movie.”

We read somewhere that you were chosen thanks to your role as the Winklevoss twins in the Social Network.
Well, they were assholes so there’s that (laughs).

If you have twitter, you probably already saw screen captures of, often very funny, conversations between Armie and fans. Needless to say his answers are always very appreciated by the lucky ones who receive his messages.

You answer a lot to fans online. Why do you dedicate so much time to it?
Well, the reason that I talk to you guys is really because you’re nice. You seem like well-rounded and normal people, you guys live your life. You like my work and that’s nice and I do appreciate that. I don’t answer to everybody, that’s for sure. I would say that I spend so much time answering to people because if somebody is going to take the time to write something and go out of their way and say, “Hey man, I just wanna say I really like your movie,” or whatever, it’s nice, it’s appreciated. It is the same as like if you’re a chef and someone says, “Oh my god, I love the way you cook salmon, I love your steak.” You’re kind of an asshole if you just go, “yeah whatever”. I don’t know, they took the time to write for me, so it’s only fair that I take the time to say, “thanks I appreciate it”.

Not everybody really does that. Another thing we noticed is that there’s no sense of hierarchy with you. You treat fans as normal people, not as ones who are less than you.
I think that the root of that is probably that those people, who treat people like that, think that they are not normal people, either. They think they’re above everything. At the end of the day, you’re doing your job. I trained as an actor, I went to school as an actor, this is what I studied. It’s like being an electrical engineer. I just get to do my job, I get to make movies, I get to do this. It brings so much joy to me to make movies and if it brings that much joy to someone to watch a movie, then that works, it’s great. It seems like teamwork, almost.

To finish, we offered to switch roles, allowing Armie to ask us anything he wanted. Because April Fool’s!
Armie: How much time out of your day do you spend working on the site? Armie Hammer Global: Well, it depends on what you are doing. For example, last year, when you were promoting three different movies at each festival, it would take up to three hours every evening. We usually search for your name, for pictures, videos, interviews, and articles, and we also monitor social media. In the end, it’s really all about organization, because it also depends on how busy we are with our lives. /

Cars 3 will come out on June 16 in the US Mine is now out on DVD/Blu-Ray and HD digital in Italy, Spain and the US.

C’mon, C’mon.

Prompt: You and Sebastian are in a movie together, and you can’t wait for that special scene.

A/N: This is short but I wanted to get something out for y’all!! thank you for reading and much love xx

“Kiss me,” you murmured softly, looking intensely into Sebastian’s eyes as he gazed back down at you, invitingly.

He bit his lip, “But, we can’t. What about him?”

“I don’t care about him anymore! I want you!” You yelled, exasperated and yearning for his lips on yours.

“You’re so infuriating! Don’t you know he loves you!?” Sebastian screamed, the vein in his neck popping out. Whoa

“I only want you.”

Sebastian grabbed your waist and pulled you closer to him, leaning forward.

Just as you were about to finally feel his plump lips on yours, it was all ruined.

“Cut! Alright everybody, that’s a wrap for today. We’ll pick this back up tomorrow.” The director called, causing Sebastian to pull away from you and scratch his neck.

Sebastian smiled sheepishly at you, “You were great today.”

You nodded, “Thank you, so were you.”

It was so frustrating. Filming a new movie was the absolute worst thing when your co-star looked like a sex god and you were supposed to be his love interest. To say you were excited to be in this film would be an understatement, but with every chance you got to kiss him, it was ruined by one thing or another.

He was so nice, extremely intelligent, and everything that you ever looked for in a man. Unfortunately he just didn’t seem too interested in you.

You walked away from set, following the familiar path to your trailer, and plopped down onto the chair.

“You were supposed to film the scene from page 32, how’d it go?” Your assistant asked you, knowing fully well you were extremely interested in Sebastian. You wiped your forehead, sighing at the perky blonde girl in front of you, “The director called cut just before the kiss.”

“That’s unfortunate. It’ll come tomorrow, everything will be fine.” She reassured you, patting your thigh lightly.

You couldn’t help but feel desperate. Every time you saw Sebastian, you licked your lips. You had chapstick on you all the time. It seemed sad, and by the look of pity your assistant gave you, you were right about that.

“Whatever, I’m just gonna go home and sleep. Need my rest for tomorrow.” You winked, changing out of your on-set clothes and changing back into the comfortable leggings and sweater that you came in.

You wiped off the makeup and sighed at your freshly clean face, pulling your hair back into a bun and walked out of the door.

As you looked up, you ran directly into the strong chest of someone. Slowly your eyes traveled up the man’s body and you were relaxed to see it was only Sebastian.

“Oh, h-hey.” You stuttered, hugging your chest. “Hey, (Y/N), I was just going for a bite to eat, you wanna come?” He said, his smile inviting and friendly.

You grinned, “Sure.”

He led you to a small cafe that was just outside of the set, the both of you sitting down and telling your beverage choices to the waitress.

“So, I’ve seen some of your movies,” he started, “and you’re pretty damn good actress. I think the director made a good choice in casting you.”

Your face grew red, “T- thank you. I’ve hoped to become as good as an actress as, say, Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor.”

Sebastian smiled, “I think you’re already there. You did a pretty damn good job at looking like you wanted to tear my clothes off on set today.”

A giggle bubbled from your throat, “Welp, that’s my job.”

The waitress came by and took your orders, obviously interested in Sebastian. As she walked away you decided to change the subject.

“I recently watched a few of your movies as well.” You said, not a bit more confident.

“Really, what one?” He asked inquisitively.

You bit your lip, “The Bronze. I think you really brought that character, what was his name,” you snapped your fingers, “Lance. You really brought Lance to life.”

It was his turn to go red, his ears burning as he smiled sheepishly, “Yeah, that uh- that was quite a movie to… film.”

“Oh it certainly must have been!” You laughed, throwing a peanut into your mouth and smirking at Sebastian who hid his face in his hands.

The meal went on simply enough, the both of you talking about various roles you had and just getting to know each other in general. He talked fondly of his time on set in The Martian, talking of his love of space and his interest in astronauts. He mentioned it was something that he thought about a lot.

You talked of your movie roles, laughing about the small role you had when you were just starting out and embarrassed about the sex scene you had to have.

Sebastian followed you back to your rented apartment near the set, conversation not stopping as he skipped behind you with his hands in his pockets. He was animated and lively, something you had yet to see much of when acting.

You invited him in, thanking him for paying for the meal and sitting on the couch with beers in your hands.

“How do you feel about the scene tomorrow?” He asked suddenly, his eyes lit with mischievous thoughts. “Which one?” You asked once your lips popped off of the bottle.

“You know,” he chuckled, “the one where you can finally plant one on me.”

“If I’m not mistaken, you’re the one who kisses me.” You defend, shrugging your shoulders.

“Fine, fine.” He murmured, his eyes brightening with his smile.

Your hands ran over the condensation on your bottle, the two of you sitting in a comfortable silent. He studied your features while you looked away, his eyes moving to something else once he noticed you staring back.

“Do you think we should… practice for tomorrow?” Sebastian asked.

You almost spat out your beer. “Practice kissing?”

He nodded, “Yeah. I think it would be good, really show our body chemistry on camera.” He explained, now sitting closer and your knees hitting each other.

Without saying a word, he moved a hair out of your face and tucked it gently behind your ear. His hand rested on your cheek and he leaned forward.

Every muscle in your body stiffened, the moment you had been waiting for forever finally happening.

As his lips met yours, you sighed happily and relaxed into his touch. His lips tasted sweet, like cherries with a hint of the apple ale that he had been drinking just moments before.

His tongue tasted even stronger of the ale, it cold against yours but every move he made only made you want to kiss him longer.

After a moment he pulled away, his eyes meeting yours. You cleared your throat, “Yeah, that was good. You’re pretty good.”

Sebastian threw his head back and laughed. A real, belly clenching laugh. He wiped tears away from his face, only to chuckle more once he saw your smile, “I’m sorry, doll. You just-” he laughed some more, “you’re so awkward. It’s lovely.”

“Hey!” you threw a throwpillow at him, “don’t be a jackass.”

Sebastian giggled quietly to himself, only to stop and look directly into your eyes. “I’m going to kiss you again, and this time it isn’t for practice.”

Before you had time to process what he had said, his lips were on yours and your back was on the couch. Not for practice this time, do what you can! you thought to yourself, wrapping your arms around his neck and enjoying the sweet taste of cherries once again.

His hands stayed on your hips, pushing you down onto the couch and his lips capturing yours once again.

You pulled away, out of breath and watching Sebastian’s chest heave as he smiled. “Do you think we’re ready for tomorrow?”

“I don’t know… maybe you should kiss me one more time to find out.” You murmured cheekily, leaning up to kiss him again.

Okay, so I enjoyed writing this way more than I should have. The kissing scene got a little out of control but what can I say, sometimes the characters take over and there’s nothing I can do. Either way, this prompt from thegirlwiththeimpala inspired the following one-shot.

Prompt: I would like to request a oneshot where Steve and the reader are really close friends and are always flirting a little bit. One day she teases him and he warns her that she’ll cross his line and it leads to them kissing.  ❤

“Something More”

“On your left!” You laughed as you surpassed Steve for the second time.
“Not for long.” He huffed as he began to speed up. He was used to being teased like this as was so often the case when you were together and as he ran, he remembered how similar a day it was when you first met. He had been jogging early in the morning having expected nobody else to be awake and outside. Alone with his thoughts, he had been running distractedly until he felt himself collide with another person. You had been jogging with headphones in and were exercising so furiously that you hadn’t noticed Steve coming towards you. Of all the people to run into, it had to have been Captain America.
Ever since that day, Steve had come out early on a Sunday morning in the hope of meeting you again – you, who had initially called him a ‘stone-skulled ass hat’ before realising who you were talking to. Something about the way you didn’t care who he was intrigued Steve and eventually, after ‘running into him’ a few more times, you became great friends. Upon hearing the many tales of the person who could put Steve in his place, you were invited to Stark Tower where you hit it off with all the other Avengers too.

You waited by the park fountain, leaning over and panting. It had taken all of your effort to overtake Steve. You were definitely not faster than him but you had the advantage of knowing the shortcuts along your jogging route so that you could fool him into thinking you were. Not wanting him to realise that you had the biggest crush on him, you constantly teased and annoyed him. For the most part, he was a good sport about it, presuming it to be playful banter but even you could see when it was too much. Today, thankfully, was not one of those times.

Mark Hamill pays tribute to Carrie Fisher

“Here’s a panel I was hoping wouldn’t happen for another 30 years,” Mark Hamill announced at the top of his tribute to his late co-star Carrie Fisher, who died last December aged 60.

The actor celebrated Fisher’s life, shared anecdotes from the Star Wars set and, at one point, got choked up recalling her death during the Star Wars Celebration event on Friday.

The tribute was interspersed with memories of Fisher shared by Warwick Davis and pre-taped salutes from George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, and Rian Johnson.

But, for the most part, Hamill held the stage on his own and captured the audience’s attention throughout the bittersweet 60-minute event.

The actor admitted to the audience that since Fisher’s death, he keeps reverting to the “anger” stage of grief. “She should be here,” he said.

Hamill remembered the first time he and Fisher met, over dinner in London before they filmed Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

“Within 20 minutes she was telling me personal stories that I wouldn’t have shared if I knew you 10 years,” he recalled.

The actor took several minutes during the tribute to discuss his romantic attraction to the late actress. While he said he never was romantically attached to Fisher, he was possessive.

“I didn’t want to share her with Harrison,” he said. “I didn’t want to share her with anyone.”

Later, he retold an incident where the two made out during the New Hope era.

“By the end we were laughing,” he said, grateful to learn that they could never have been more than friends. It was for the best though, since his Luke Skywalker and her Princess Leia were siblings on screen.

There was a period of time, Hamill said, when the castmates fell out of contact. When their characters were revived for The Force Awakens, he said it gave them a chance to reconnect.

At one point, Hamill mourned her death in a sense that he felt she was hitting her stride as an older actress. Of her character in Catastrophe, Hamill said, “She is the crusty old broad that always lurked inside of [Fisher].”

The panel was not all adoration and sadness. Hamill laughed about the time that Fisher made him dress up in Leia’s outfit, and paraded him around the studio. “I was like her paper doll or something,” he said, adding that she always got her way with him.

Hamill joked about a pact the two had made. “I promise … if you go first, I’ll heckle your funeral,” Fisher told him, and made him promise to the do the same - a promise the actor refrained from keeping.

When Fisher died, Hamill said he didn’t want to write a statement. “I don’t want to talk about it,” he remembered saying. In the end, though, he thanked the audience for helping him “move on” and process the death of his co-star and friend. He confessed at one point, “Part of me did fall in love with her.”

Hamill and Fisher will share the screen one more time in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Kathleen Kennedy confirmed on Friday that Fisher will not appear in the yet unnamed ninth film.

Strip poker with the boys

A/n: this is more of a crack fic, just a random long idea. If you’re looking for something more sexy…I’m sorry V_V

***

“I hope no—I hope no.” The boy is dangerously playing with the bottles, making a tower out of them. Everyone else in the room is holding their breath, watching with interest if Max could pull it off. “I said I hope nobody—hic—does a…” His expression turns twisted, the grin on his lips malicious, preparing for the attack. “SMASHING GRAB!” It’s a given that he fails in grabbing the bottles properly, and the top and bottom ones fall loudly on the ground.

stars-in-her-heart  asked:

1.What precisely do you do? What are the duties and functions of your job? 2.What is a typical day like? 3.What is the culture like at the company/work space? 4.What are the hours like?

5.Bouncing off #4, how much time do you spend outside of work on personal art, if at all? 6.Is it difficult balancing work with play? 7.If you went to college, did your college career help you with your actual career?

8.Any advice for someone who has not yet gotten into the field, things that you wish you had known?

Well first of all, these are just my answers, from my little personal experience, not the truth, I just hope t be useful to young students while answering to these questions.. I m sure there is many different answers to these questions.

1. I m currently working as a story artist on a feature film. That means I draw the story from the script given to me. I have been also art director and character designer, background concept artist in the past. my jobs are to tell a story whatever I have to do. Design, background, storyboard are only about storytelling. You have to serve the story ( yes it s looks like a cult ^^)

2. As a storyartist, a typical day is I read the script, I take the time to think about it and to look for films references, then I think about the area of my sequence, the scenography, then I start drawing thumbnails. It took much more than one day for me to do that.

3. About my current company, I m not here since a long time but I can say the culture here is “story is king” and they take care a lot of their employees, health or creative energy. It s the best company I have ever worked in in my life.

4. I don t get your question

5-6. It s very very important for me to spend time on my own project. To keep my creative energy alive. We are not robot and we need to keep deep pleasure in our work. Art is about loving what you create. The difficulty is we work in a industry. In france I used to work very hard during a few month for a company, no time for me, then I needed to spend a lot of months after on my own projects, I needed to repeat that process regulary. I couldn t have improve myself without spending time on my own project. Don t think life is only a linkedin page, that s okay to stop and work for yourself. Now I m in a big company, I take the time after work, to work for me, because I know I couldn t quit every 6 months.

7. I have been to History of Art college. I suffered a lot to not drawing at all but in another way I m very satisfied now of what I have studied. I m sure my actual work is made from what I have learnt traveling in foreign countries, discovering many different cultures in college. I guess I have been becoming more open minded. This job is not about technic but about what we are, our perception of the world. Storytelling is a great responsibility because you come into the mind of people, you can make them cry or laugh. It s a big power, you can not tell bullshit stories, you have to be careful. especially when you tell stories for children. Don t pay attention to bankable empty movies and try to study Tezuka, Miyazaki, Takahata, Kurosawa masterpieces…They are entertaining but full of humanity and true emotions.

8. First advice : Travel and live in foreign countries, discover other cultures and study History in general, stay very curious about all art forms, grow up your emotional intelligence, and try to take care of other people, enter in empathy with people. I m certain jerk insensitive people can not make good stories, even if they are great technical story artists . I m very influenced by literature and not only comics or cinema. Thats in my opinion very important. I don t think I m the best tech artist but at least I have some stuffs to tell..You can not become a good director if you are just a great tech artist. You mut become a better human being, not just a good worker. work on yourself( I m not perfect at all, I just try my best). You must have something interesting to say and some maturity at some point. Education and especially History and improving emotional intelligence is the key, not technics or tutorials.

Second advice : Integrity is the key. Shitty stuff calls always shitty work. If you start accepting shitty jobs, your folio will be full of shitty stuff. Logic.Take the time to do your own stuff. If only shitty jobs appears, ask yourself how to improve, and work harder.

Third advice : Never be influenced by other students way of work or only the best : I mean try to work twice harder than average students.

Last advice : Ask review from the best artist you can meet. Never hide your work. Have the courage to show and being criticized. People are always right to point something. Being amator is drawing and storytelling for your own pleasure and that s very important. But being pro is telling stories for people, touching their mind. To train yourself in that purpose, you need to get reviews from other. People are always right to point something, but have not always the answer. Being lucyd about its own work is the key.

bonus advice : learn scriptwriting, think more and draw less. Writing my own script for my personal project helped me a lot to become a better story artist and designer. Don t wait to have a professional opportunity to start writing.

bonus advice 2 : watch all the kurosawa 10 time each

The Jungle Book Review

Note: Considering how old and well known this story is, I figured putting out a spoiler warning is pretty useless. Nevertheless, I don’t go into detail about plot points specific to this particular adaptation, so this review is spoiler free!

“Now this is the law of the jungle, as old and as true as the sky,
And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk, the law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack” -
The Law of the Jungle, by Rudyard Kipling

Rudyard Kipling’s original 1894 magnum opus is truly one of Literature’s greatest works. Drawing upon his experiences growing up and working in Colonial India, Kipling created a vivid series of stories about the Indian Jungle that enraptured generations of readers. A masterful wordsmith, he created a Jungle that was both terrifyingly dangerous and intoxicatingly inviting. He populated this world with anthropomorphic animals in order to teach children lessons in respect and morality, with memorable characters like Bagheera, Baloo, Shere Khan, Raksha, Kaa and of course, Mowgli, the Man-Cub. Like many, I fondly remember having it read to me as a child, and to this day it’s one of my all-time favourite books.

And also like many, I loved Disney’s animated 1967 take on the original story. It was an almost completely different beast from the original story, but it was a wonderful movie that, while lacking much of a plot, was nevertheless charming with it’s humour and its songs, and holds a special place in the hearts of millions of children and those like me who are children at heart.

And now here we are, almost half a century on from Disney’s initial animated effort, and once again, after some slightly less than memorable live action remakes in the 90s, the Mouse House has unleashed upon the world yet another. But this one delivers. Guys, this one meets the hype. It’s freaking phenomenal.

With game-changing, spectacular, photorealistic CGI and an impeccably picked cast, Jon Favreau delivers a marvelous adaptation of The Jungle Book for this generation - one that pays homage to it’s animated predecessor, draws thematic inspiration from its source material, all the while creating a compelling narrative of it’s own accord - which could very well be the definitive adaptation of Kipling’s timeless tale.

There were numerous ways they could’ve screwed this one up. This film is the latest in a long line of live action remakes that Disney is recently producing of it’s animated classics. Some have been better than others. Maleficent, for example, despite a stellar performance from Angelina Jolie, was so obsessed with putting a contemporary spin on a well-known antagonist, and rewriting events in order to make the titular villain more sympathetic, that it was utterly devoid of the original Sleeping Beauty’s charm. The outrageous amount of CGI didn’t help matters either, and it ended up looking like a fake mess. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland remake, meanwhile had issues with a meandering plot. Last year’s Cinderella, however, was a breath of fresh air. In deciding to make a faithful adaptation of the animated classic, Kenneth Branagh’s movie was received well by both critics and audiences.

It’s thus that adapting the Jungle Book posed a tricky situation for Jon Favreau, and screenwriter Justin Marks. Had this movie been overly faithful to the 1967 animation, modern audiences would probably scoff at it. However nostalgically people remember talking animals singing about the Bare Necessities of life, a whimsical, live action musical with a lack of threat probably wouldn’t cut it. Too faithful to Kipling’s original text, and it would be considered too “dark and gritty” (as is all the rage today in Hollywood) for the typical Disney demographic. It would also probably lose the trademark Disney charm that people so fondly remember the original with. So what did they do? They combined the best of both worlds, of course, to great success. While setting a new bar for the standards of CGI in movies today.

As charming as the 1967 version was, it had a very basic plot and lacked a good deal of narrative heft. As befitting the works of Walt Disney, it was very child-friendly, which it ought to have been. But as a result, stakes were significantly lowered. Shere Khan ran away from fire after being distracted by those Beatles vultures. Again, very cute and child friendly - which isn’t to say Favreau’s version isn’t for kids, because it certainly is. Show this to any child and I bet they’d be totally enraptured by what’s unfolding on-screen. But Justin Marks, using themes from Kipling’s novels, lends a great deal of gravitas to the screenplay, and gives more depth to characters like Shere Khan and make them genuinely evil. There’s nothing particularly horrifying, but certain sequences may have especially young children, under 10 perhaps, holding their parents hands. It’s totally fine though - using more “mature” themes allows the audience to feel a real sense of danger, as well as a more clear, concise, and centralized journey for Mowgli to undertake from the start of the film to the end, especially in comparison to the animated movie. The wolf mantra heard repetitively throughout the movie is taken from one of Kipling’s original poems from the books, and allows to solidify the movie’s messages of the strength in both individuality as well as companionship.

Marks’ screenplay at different times changes the tonality of the movie from a humorous comedy, heartfelt emotional drama, to a thrilling revenge story, with the lush jungle as a backdrop. But remarkably, just like Kipling’s original story, these shifts in tonality don’t seem jarring at all. Scenes and sequences move smoothly from one to the other, and even the songs (the film includes “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wan’na be Like You” from the original - it would be sacrilegious if they didn’t).  which some people found to feel a little odd from the rest of the movie - I thought were spontaneous and added beautifully to the film.

The CGI in this movie, truly, is breathtaking, and arguably the best in any movie I’ve ever seen. It’s ridiculous to believe that every tree, every leaf, every drop of water, every strand of hair on the animals’ body, was created on a computer. “Location shooting” wasn’t the vast Jungles of India. It was a studio in LA. It’s clear to see how painstaking the process must have been to the animators, but their hard work definitely paid off. I don’t think we’ve seen such a leap in CGI technology since Avatar in 2009 or Life of Pi in 2012. At times it definitely felt like I was watching a nature documentary, as opposed to a fictional fantasy story. There are even some shots where water would splash upon the camera lens, adding a great depth of depth and immersion to the cinematic experience.

The cast was, as I previously mentioned, was impeccably picked. Ben Kingsley is wonderful as the stern but loving fatherly Bagheera, complete with his RP accent. Bill Murray is just perfect as the laid back and easy-going Baloo. There’s not many people who could’ve held a candle to Phil Harris and his original version of the “Bare Necessities”, but Murray rendition is just as brilliant. His role as Baloo is probably his best work in ages. Likewise is Christopher Walken’s King Louie, now a Gigantopithecus ape, since Louis Prima’s orangutan wasn’t native to India. And his cover of “I Wan’na Be Like You” is just perfect. His voice and accent fit the song so well. Lupita Nyong’o brings a warmth and motherly love to Raksha, and the seductive, dulcet tones of Scarlett Johansson’s Kaa really give you chills. As for the antagonist, the great Shere Khan, Idris Elba brings a menacing East London-accented gravitas to the iconic tiger. He’s a genuinely terrifying villain, and his interplay with Mowgli and delivery of lines has to be commended. There’s absolutely nothing to complain about the voice talent on display here.

Which brings us to basically our only human character in the film, Neel Sethi’s Mowgli. This kid is just brilliant. He portrays Mowgli with just the right amount of naivete, enthusiasm, humor, heart, bravery, and cuteness. We watch or read the Jungle Book through the eyes of a child, and Neel is the perfect audience surrogate, reacting like we would with a child’s amazement and wonder at the extraordinary events happening around him. On the rare occasions that his delivery of lines may slip up, or his eyes are looking in another direction it’s important to keep in mind that he was a) only 10 years old during filming, and b) a kid with hardly any acting experience acting not along with other humans, but literally nothing but green screen and boxes and tennis balls. It’s extraordinary how he managed to carry the whole film by himself, and you can’t help but think that if they cast the wrong kid, the entire movie would’ve probably fallen flat on it’s face. There are seasoned adult actors who act in front of a green screen and come off as utterly wooden and lifeless. Neel knocked it out of the park. An incredibly talented young man, who I’m sure has great things ahead for him.

I was initially hesitant about the idea of a live action remake of the Jungle Book, but safe to say I was more than satisfied with this film. It’s one of those rare movies that I can seriously find no serious fault with. If anything, I only wish we could see those Beatles tribute band Vultures in live action. Apparently Favreau even planned for Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to appear as cameos, but sadly the scheduling didn’t work out.

But the movie as a whole was spectacular - fantastic voice talent, brilliant photorealistic CGI, and a heartfelt, emotional narrative at it’s core. It’s a wonderful story for families, and is just 2 hours full of pure escapism. A massive well done to all the cast and crew.

Rating: 5/5

All thoughts turn now to Andy Serkis and WB’s completely separate adaptation, Jungle Book, now since delayed from next October to October 2018. Set to be closer to the spirit of Kipling’s novel even more than this one, it’s hard not to get excited with talent such as Serkis, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Benedict Cumberbatch behind it. There’s also a sequel planned for this one, with the same creative talent returning, so it’s all the more reason to get excited, especially with the wealth of Kipling’s original stories left to adapt. But those are still a long way away, and for now, we can rest content with what I believe to be the most definitive adaptation of Kipling’s text. A masterpiece.

Executive functioning and being a serial procrastinator

I haven’t written many blog posts yet and one of the main reasons for this is that I struggle with something called executive functioning and so I thought it would be useful to post about this topic to raise more awareness.

Executive functioning is basically a set of mental processes which include planning, organising, paying attention, remembering details and managing time and space. Executive functioning issues affect many people on the autistic spectrum as well as people who have ADD/ADHD and other conditions.

Funnily enough I’m often described as being someone who is incredibly organised and I’m seen as someone who has a strength in planning. Unfortunately this is misleading and leads to people having unrealistic expectations of me and my capabilities. I like to plan things in huge detail because I like to be in control and I like to limit the chances of unexpected changes happening as this causes me anxiety. I do like to think I’m a very organised person, but mostly in quite a superficial way. I like everything to be kept in a specific place and I hate being in an untidy and messy space. It comforts and calms me to be in a tidy space and know that everything is where it should be. If you look more deeply though, at organising my life and time you will see it’s more of an issue.

Here are some of the ways that executive functioning issues affect my life:

  • Initiating tasks

Although I know what I need to do, I find it incredibly difficult to actually get going with a task. It helps hugely if I have a deadline, but most life tasks don’t have deadlines and, if they do (such as paying bills), I will inevitably wait until just before the deadline to complete the task – which can be problematic in itself.

I find it helps if I make to do lists, but the problem is that I will put off actually making the list in the first place!

This whole issue might be difficult for people to understand and I think it can sometimes be seen as laziness. Believe me it causes so much stress and anxiety that I wish it was just laziness. Here’s an example: someone will send me an email that needs replying to. Every day I will think about the fact that I need to reply to the email. I will feel anxious about what the other person will think about me because I haven’t replied. I will feel cross at myself for not replying. This will then make the need to reply to the email even more intense, in turn heightening my anxiety. This cycle continues and I find it so hard to break the cycle and just reply to the email although in reality the reply will only take me ten minutes and is hardly taxing.

I’m sure many people will think, “Just do it,” but it’s not that easy. It’s a crippling sensation where I physically feel unable to initiate the task, no matter how simple it is.

At times (when I have a lot of energy) I will become very productive and will make a list and tick off everything I need to do in a short time. This feels so liberating and makes me so happy, but unfortunately it’s also rare.

  • Completing tasks

Ironically, if I actually manage to initiate a task, I then often struggle to complete it. This can be as simple as watching a film to a longer term task such as writing a book. I switch between tasks very quickly and move through hobbies at a ridiculous pace. All around my house you will find various projects that I’ve started but never finished. I get annoyed at myself about this and it has mounted up to where I now have so many uncompleted tasks that it would take years to complete them all.

  • My working memory is incredibly weak

I can only hold one or two pieces of information in my head at a time and I easily forget things I’m told. I have lost count of the number of times I’ve been asked to pass on a message or I’ve been asked to do something and I’ve forgotten almost immediately. I get very annoyed and frustrated when this happens as I feel like I’ve let people down and as though I’m a failure. At work (as a teacher) I forget the same things over and over. I have found some strategies that help such as having a sign in a prominent place reminding me of something or I use the children to help me remember things. For example, I have to have a register monitor in my class or else I will never remember to take the register.

I think this is one of the reasons why I love routines so much as then there is less chance of forgetting things. Every day before work, I do the same things in the same order. If I don’t, I forget things which stresses me out. I run through lists in my mind about what I need for the day by mentally going through the day at top speed and working out if I have everything I will need.

I am one of those people who will go upstairs to get something and will then forget why I went up there and will only remember later in the day what I was meant to have done. I even know a lot of the time that I will forget to do something, which probably sounds quite amusing, but, due to my difficulty in initiating tasks, I struggle to make myself write down a reminder so it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy – isn’t that crazy?!

  • Explaining myself clearly

I struggle to verbally explain myself clearly and I know this often frustrates those close to me. When I’m recounting something, I will forget what I’m saying and so pause lots and then repeat things I’ve already said and usually I will end up rambling and the other person loses interest. Luckily this doesn’t often show as a problem at work – I usually only notice it at work when I’m particularly tired and I find I have to make excuses to my class about my brain not functioning properly that day. I also find that I’m more reserved at work and careful about what I’m saying so the ‘real’ me comes out more at home.

I find it difficult to retrieve various words when I’m talking, which is obviously linked to having a poor working memory. Often, when speaking, my mind will just go blank and it can take a couple of minutes for me to remember the word I wanted to say. This is fine when I’m with family and friends as they help me out and will give me time to think, but in a more formal situation (like at work), I am under more pressure to communicate efficiently. One way I’ve learnt to retrieve a word is to go through the alphabet and then often, when I get to the first letter of the word, it will suddenly come back to me. This only works if I have time to think though.

  • Managing time

Basically, I leave everything until the last minute often resulting in me being late and I hate being late. You’d think it would be as easy as just starting things a bit earlier but I never seem to learn from my mistakes. I often need a prompt from my husband to get ready to go out as he knows I will be late otherwise.

  • Attention

My attention and concentration go from extreme to extreme. If I’m really enjoying something then I can focus on it for hours without considering anything else. I will know I should be eating or getting ready to go out etc. but I won’t be able to pull myself away from the activity I’m doing.

There are some situations when I really struggle with attention though. My attention issues are related to something called orienting. This means that I have a tendency to focus on irrelevant stimuli and I can be easily distracted.

An example of when this is a big issue for me is when I attend my martial arts class. Often, the instructor will show a particular move that we will then go off and practise. I find it so hard to focus on the move being taught and my attention will wander for the simplest reason – a clock ticking, someone whispering etc. Nearly every time, when we are told to go off and practise the move, I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing. This is very embarrassing as I then look incompetent and stupid as I have to admit I missed what was shown and get my partner to show it again.

I find that if I have too much sensory input, I am unable to process the information I’m meant to be focusing on. This means that sometimes I will miss what someone is saying to me and so I have to pretend I heard what they said rather than admitting I wasn’t paying attention and getting them to repeat the information.

When at places like the cinema, I really struggle because I can hear every little rustle and whisper and so I end up missing parts of the film as all I can process are the other sounds I can hear.

Also this becomes a problem when reading. Often I will have to read the same passage several times as I just can’t focus on the words I’m reading. This can be embarrassing in class if I’m discussing a text with the children and I haven’t retained what we’ve just read.

  •  Depression

I do struggle with depression and this is often due to my executive functioning issues. My feelings of inadequacy and failure make me feel so low at times. I wonder how someone as intelligent as myself can’t just do a simple task and I beat myself up about it so much. It doesn’t help that other people don’t understand about this problem and their comments and judgements can make me feel 100 times worse.

The boredom I often feel also contributes to my depression. The weekends and school holidays are the worst as my routines are often lost and I have a lot less structure. I sit around thinking about all the things I should or could be doing, but just can’t initiate anything. The more depressed I feel, the less I want to do anything and then it spirals out of control.

I am pleased that I have finally managed to sit down and write this blog post. I’ve been wanting to write it for ages but due to some of the things I’ve mentioned, it was delayed. I have found some good strategies to help with my executive functioning issues but I hope I can develop more strategies as this is still one of my biggest problem areas. I apologise to anyone who has ever had a delayed reply from me, had me turn up late or felt as though I wasn’t listening to them – hopefully now you understand some of the reasons why.

Warnings: Mentions of abuse, angst, SHIT IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN

You grab your purse and keys and hurry out the front door. On your way to meet jackson and his mother at a playground, you can’t help the bubble of hope swelling in your chest. She’s reaching out. You can finally get the full story and get them the help they need. Just as you get in the car, your phone blares ‘Carry On Wayward Son.’

“Hey babe.”

“Hello beautiful. How’s your day going?”

“Great, actually.”

“That’s awesome! What’s going on?”

“I’m meeting Jackson and his mom. I think she’s finally ready to tell me what’s going on. I can finally help them!”

“That great, but be careful.”

“I will, I promise.”

“Okay. I have some good news too. I can say now that I have only a week of filming left! We finish the season in six days. Then I just have the wrap party. And after that I can come see you and we’ll pick up wher-”

“Jensen! Don’t distract me.”

“But I love to distract you.”

Christian Walz - Wonderchild

Stiles used to think Laura was exaggerating when calling Derek a dinosaur, but that was before she asked him to buy a new camera and he came back with a Polaroid.

Derek doesn’t see the problem. It does the job—it takes pictures—and you only need to wait a couple of seconds before getting the pictures printed. Laura complains about not being able to edit them or get copies or the quality, but Derek just shrugs. He doesn’t approve of Erica teaching his sister how to “cheat” using Photoshop and insists that it’s much more practical to just stick the pictures on the board in the office right away.

To support his boyfriend Stiles snaps a picture of Derek bending over one of the bikes in the garage the same afternoon and puts it up next to Derek’s schedule. It stays up.

Full "Stern" Interview with Mario & Marco

Mr. Götze, how was 2011 for Marco Reus?

Mario: Many goals for his club, avoided the descent with Mönchengladbach, matches with our national team. He can go on like this.
Marco: Oh, national team?! But I was injured most of the time. Now I have to be friendly too: Became Champion, on top with Borussia Dortmund. He even showed great performance from time to time. *smiles*

Are you satisfied with this year?

Marco:  You can always improve, and that’s what we want to do. But I'm satisfied with what I have achieved so far, yes. It should not seems like you would rest, because that’s not true.
Mario: Yeah, you don’t do this. Maybe our fans feel different about it, but for me as a football player the championship is far away.

Did your status on the pitch changed during this year?

Mario: I always feel that the rivals adapt to me better than before.

Does defenders still wispers to you that you have only 5 minutes left?

Mario: *laughs* to live?

Until the next injury.

Mario: I’ve never experienced something like that.
Marco: You won’t be offended with words on the pitch. The actions speaking for themseves. You will get injured or not.

You both play in clubs with strong footballers but most of the time you were able to convince as a team. At the same time, you guys are known as players who make the difference. How important is a single player in times of modern football?

Mario: Bacelona is a good example. They got many players with individual quality, but they make everything as a team anyways. I think both is important to be successful.
Marco: They often talk about a main character. Maybe a single player can decide a game from time to time, but never the whole season.

What made you two so successful, exept talent and luck?

Marco: Maybe your surprised when we don’t say: I wanted it so bad and I had the will. We had and have it of course too, but mainly it’s the fun we have.

At least that doesn’t sound like the type of footballer like Oliver Kahn.

Mario: Do you mean with Kahn that you always have to torment yourself?
Marco: I stick to it, it’s the fun. That you’re crazy for football and be passionate.
Mario: Discipline and Disclaimer too, but I totally agree with Marco.
Marco: Mario even plays football down in the basement.

In the basement?

Mario: We got a little pitch down there, perhaps 4x5 meters in size, with little gates. Me and my brothers play with a little plastic ball, but not as often as in the past.
Marco: although it would be necessary. *smirks widely at Mario*
Mario: I’ve invited Marco to a little match, but he doesn’t dare. *grins back*

So, Reus has a basement training deficit against Götze. Another difference between you is, that Mr. Reus was already at several clubs.

Marco: I didn’t play in the first year of the B-Jugend at Borussia Dortmund, because the Trainer said he would set the players after their performence and skills.
Mario: That’s why you didn’t play.
Marco: You weren’t even born back this time! *laughs* In those days I already thought that I’m good enough and after a game against Ahlen I asked them if they wanted me, and the Trainer said yes. Basically I tranferred myself. Ahlen made me feel good.

Why?

Marco: Because I was finally allowed to play football. It hurts when you’re like 15,16 or 17 years old and you can’t play. That’s like a ban. I didn’t even cared that I played for the third class Ahlen instead of the first class Borussia Dortmund.

Mr. Reus, you said you have to feel good to bring good performance. What does that mean?

Marco: When I moved to Mönchengladbach at the age of 20, I became part of a very young team, which helped a lot. Than of course the surroundings: family, girlfriend, manager.

Mr. Götze, you still live with your parents.

Mario: And it’s the most beautiful place to live.
Marco: I live alone - and can’t complain. If you will ever move out…
Mario: What surely happens…
Marco: You will like it. And I even know why.
Mario: I love to cook.
Marco: That’s what I’m talking about! *both of them laughing hard*
Mario: No, let’s be serious. I have my family and friends here, so everything is fine.

Do you ever feel like your career went rapidly better and better?

Marco: I’m a late Bloomer compared with Mario.
Mario: I think you have to classify and process. When you’re surrounded by the right people, you can relativize everything.

Do you still have contact with some friends from the past?

Mario: Something changed. There are 2 or 3 friends who still see’s me like who I am. But there are some people too, who only wants to be friends with you because of your career.
Marco: Those people who “always believed in you”. I know them too.

Do you get warily?

Mario: Yes.
Marco: It’s always difficult to find people you can trust. But that’s not a problem, I have enough good friends.
Mario: When we are away with the team, we always sleep in expensive hotels and of course we spent a lot more money on clothes than other people at our age. That’s a fact. But we don’t spent all our money for expensive things, we still eat pizza for 7 euros. *laughs*

Do you get begging letters sometimes, like some lottery winners?

Mario: Nobody asked me for money yet.

Mr. Reus, you watched a game from the tribune a few days ago, because of you toe-injury. You sat next to you girlfriend. (Mario is typing instantly something in his phone) Did you told her how everything runs and she said “ok I’m going to watch this game with you in the stadium, even the cameras filming and and taking photos of me”?

Marco: She is watching every game of my team at the stadium. This time I was injured and sat next to her. Sould I sat down 3 places away from her, or what? *laughs* That would’ve been quite unnatural.

They wrote in the newspaper that you showed the love of your life.

Marco: She sat next to me in the stadium! After that we went together to the VIP room, but she left after a couple minutes. My family stays there after every game too. I think, you don’t have to overthink everything.

Mario(shows a picture from the newspaper on his smartphone. The photo shows how Marco kisses his girfriend.): “Marco Reus kissed his Caro tenderly on the tribune”. *laughs hard*
Marco: Completely unnecessary to show that now, completely unnecessary. *smirks at Mario*

Do you feel in everyday life that footballers are role models too?

Mario: It’s not like I feel it every second. I don’t went to the christmas market and drink 5 cups of Glühwein of course, but I wouldn’t do this at home either.

Some professional footballers of Dortmund went to a concert of the politically incorrect and disputed Rapper Bushido.

Mario: I wasn’t there.
Marco: I went to Söhne Mannheims in Oberhausen, they aren’t politically incorrent, right?

Could you sing along without being filmed? Celebrities who are went out privately recover themselves on youtube sometimes.

Marco: Nobody filmed me or recorded me… I think. I didn’t even danced or something like that. *laughs*
Mario: You’re just wearing a hat when you went out, that’s enough.
Marco: We even play football in towns and live in towns where football is an pretty important thing. I don’t know Berlin that much, but I think football is more significant in Mönchengladbach and Dortmund than there.

We often read that many different clubs offer a lot of money to buy you too. Mr. Reus, the Fc Bayern woos you at the moment. How do you deal with that?

Marco: I’m not so much interested in reports like that. When I show performance and big clubs wanna buy me, I’m happy about it.
Mario: It’s always great to hear that, of course. But the question is, how serious those articles are.

But of course, the representatives of major European clubs report their consultant Volker Struth and Dirk Hebel.

Marco: Yeah, sure and that’s what I’m a little bit more interested in. But I don’t ask Volker about new inquires every week and he don’t annoy me with it either.
Mario: We are both pretty happy at our clubs. I don’t think I’ve send any signals that shows that I really wanna leave Borussia Dortmund.
Marco: When the newspapers wrote that Bayern wanted to buy me, something beautiful happened to me. I came to training and over my locker hung a poster with the words “Ulli, keep your money”.

How would react your teammates when they read that Arsenal wants to pay 40 million euros for Mario?

Marco: Then he gets spells in the cabin, that’s for sure. Plus some from me. *smirks*

Footballers and trainer always say they wanna focus on the next game. Do you really do that?

Marco: Ask someone from the Bundesliga against whom he will play in 5 weeks, he will need time to consider.

How do you plan your own career?

Marco: It’s diffecult to really plan something, everything can happen in football. You have to convince every single day, during every training. When I wanna influence my career, theres no other way. I think, I really live for the moment.
Mario: Me too. Of course I have some goals for the future, but I don’t put myself under pressure.

And what about private things? Kids, for example, do you want some at the age of 30?

Mario: Perfect question for Marco.
Marco: Thanks, you’re so kind. It can happen a little bit earlier, but it can wait.

Mr. Götze, how will 2012 go for Marco Reus?

Mario: If he will marry? At least he will score a lot of goals and give some Assists.
Marco: And Mario has to stay healthy and show, how good he is. I mean on the pitch, of course. *smirks*
