and he's too ignorant to realise

I live for Harry flirting with Malfoy to fluster him. For him getting more and more cocky about it. To the point it’s a joke to everyone else, but he can’t stop, because the ability to throw Malfoy off-balance has his heart racing. It’s like flying.

Until one day, Malfoy has had enough. With barely any words, he turns it back around. Steps close, lowers his tone, softens his expression. Suddenly, he’s speaking to Harry the way Harry had been talking to him. And Harry wants to deny it, he tries, but Malfoy’s standing too close, and he’s looking at him like that, and those words he’s saying sound familiar.

And Malfoy smirks, claims victory, and saunters off.

But Harry is still standing there, leaning against the wall off a corridor that’s out of the way. Breathless. Heart racing. And why had he followed Malfoy into that corridor anyway?

And he realises, he’s turned on. And disappointed. Disappointed that Malfoy walked away.

For weeks, Malfoy ignores him. Not a glance, not a word. Harry can’t catch his eye. He can’t tease and taunt him. He becomes bored. Restless. He’s being mocked for it, and he get’s angry, but he realises now that they’re right.

And he can’t stop thinking about how close they were standing, when Malfoy turned it around on him. And he can’t stop staring at him. All the time.

Christmas break happens, and when he comes back, he does something stupid, drastic. He manages to get Malfoy’s attention again. Only this time, this time, the flirting is deliberate. He catches Malfoy’s gaze, he holds it, and he makes sure Malfoy knows that he’s absolutely aware of what he’s doing.

And his heart is in his throat. Because it’s Malfoy, and there are so many reasons to not do this. But it’s Malfoy, and he never feels more alive than when he’s looking at him, and Malfoy is looking back.

And Malfoy is looking back.

Little first moments between the Inquisitor and their love interest that it makes my heart happy to think about:

- The first time Cassandra finds he’s left something for her, a rose lying across her favourite book or a little message scrawled on a piece of parchment cut into the shape of a heart, and realises that the flowers and the candles and the moonlit glade weren’t a one-time thing, this is going to be forever. The first time she picks up the gift and holds it close, knowing it’s not just a gift but a promise that he’s always going to make her feel like one of those women from her books, always going to see the woman inside the armour.

- The first time Blackwall wakes up beside her after she learns the truth, and remembers that he’s not hiding anything from her anymore, she knows exactly who he is and what he’s done and she’s still right here in his arms. The first time he looks at her lying there, and feels tears of a kind he’s not familiar with sting his eyes, tears charged by joy, and at last there’s no burning pang of guilt and grief clawing at his insides - because she knows, and she still chose him, and he can just look at her and be happy.

- The first time Bull slips off his eyepatch, feeling… not awkward, exactly, just very aware that this is the first time his kadan has seen him without it, that so, so few people have ever seen his face just as it is. The first time his lover smiles at him and reaches up and takes his face into their hands, traces the jagged lines of his scars with gentle fingers and presses their lips against them, and murmurs to him that he’s beautiful (and hot, of course).

- The first time Dorian kisses the Inquisitor in a street or in the throne room or in the courtyard, where everyone can see, and his smug grin has a touch of wonder behind it because yes, they can do this, they can show what they feel in front of the entire world and no one is going to come up to them and wrench them apart. The first time he glances at the people who’ve seen them and realises that some of them are even smiling to see them together, that the people around them want them to be happy.

- The first time Solas looks at her and realises with a jolt that he’s stopped seeing the vallaslin, that the silent voice inside him has stopped screaming about the wrongness of it every time he sees her, that while he still wishes it were gone, her face has become the most important thing. The first time that the way she smiles and the warmth in her eyes seem to outshine the marks of her slavery and ignorance, and he aches to think of all she doesn’t know, but she is so beautiful, so beautiful.

- The first time Sera hears the Inquisitor call something shite or frigging and stands frozen for a moment, her grin too wide for her face, because her girlfriend’s speaking like her, those are her words coming from the mouth of the woman she loves. The first time she realises that she’s become a part of the Inquisitor, part of the way she speaks and thinks and lives, and feels joy sweep through her because the Inquisitor is part of her, too, always will be.

- The first time Cullen goes through a whole day with no feverish longing, no shaking, no sick feeling in his stomach, and he knows the battle isn’t over and that all the pain could come back tomorrow, but right now he can look at the Inquisitor and think, this is what the rest of our life could be like. The first time he can really picture long nights and longer mornings beside her with no nightmares and restless sleep, years ahead of listening to her laugh, and he almost cries from the terrifying beauty of it.

- The first time Josephine pens a letter to her family and then stops and stares at what she’s written, because she’s told them all about the Inquisitor and how she hopes to introduce them some day, and just like that it seems so official, it’s set down in ink on parchment that she wants the Inquisitor to be part of her future. The first time she gazes at the letter in awe, because it suddenly seems to be the most precious thing in the world.

Could you write a Peter Parker drabble with that thing where one of them is putting on a new chapstick and the other asks to try it bc they wanna taste it, but instead of borrowing the chapstick they kiss them? With them being best friends please?

Finally, exams were over. You and your best friend, Peter, were celebrating by spending the day in the park with a picnic, courtesy of May.

You glanced to your left, where Peter was lying on his back with his eyes closed. His white t-shirt had ridden up a little bit to expose his toned stomach, and you forced yourself to look away before he could catch you staring and blushing.

It was difficult having a crush on your best friend. You two had known each other since you were toddlers, and he was so affectionate and sweet around you that it was impossible to tell whether he actually liked you.

“You okay?”

You looked back at Peter, his warm brown eyes now open and watching you in concern. You smiled softly.

“Yeah, just thinking,” you replied as he sat up slowly and used his hand to shield his eyes from the bright sun.

“About good stuff?” he asked, turning his head to keep looking at you. You smiled reassuringly.

“About good stuff.”

The pair of you fell into an easy silence, just enjoying each other’s company. The gentle warmth of the sun on your face, the joyful singing of birds in the trees, and your favourite person in the world beside you brought a content smile to your lips.

“Ugh I’m so tired,” Peter announced dramatically, falling backwards against you. You laughed as his back landed against your chest, and wrapped your arms around his torso without thinking.

“You’re so heavy,” you teased, tickling his sides gently. He squealed, sitting upright again and pretending to glare at you.

“I thought I could trust you, (Nickname),” he declared in a mock-hurt tone. “I thought what we had was special.”

You rolled your eyes, unfolding your legs from beneath you and resting them in his lap as you leaned back on your hands.

“You love me really.”

His eyes softened, and a strangely small smile tugged at his thin lips.

“Yeah I do,” he admitted, and your heart skipped a beat. You knew he didn’t mean it the way you wanted him to, but there was something about the look on his face…

You cleared your throat and looked away, pretending to be watching the birds in the trees as you prayed for the redness in your cheeks to fade.

Peter reached into his pocket and pulled out a chapstick, needing something to distract himself. Had he been too obvious when he’d said that? You two said you loved each other all the time, but your reaction had been strange. Were you beginning to realise he liked you?

You glanced over at Peter as he put on his chapstick.

“New flavour?” you asked, smiling knowingly. Peter had a slight obsession with flavoured chapsticks. He chuckled.

“Cherry. Wanna taste?” he asked jokingly, wiggling his eyebrows and pouting. You giggled, shifting closer to him.

“Yeah, alright.”

He held the chapstick out to you, but you ignored it. Taking a deep breath to steady yourself, you held his chin gently with your thumb and forefinger and guided his lips to yours.

You kept your lips pressed to his gently, not daring to move. You were about to pull away in embarrassment, when you felt Peter’s hand on your cheek and his lips moved against yours tentatively.

His lips were soft and careful, and the faint taste of cherry made you smile a little into the kiss. His fingertips ghosted over your cheek softly, and his long nose bumped against yours gently.

You pulled away reluctantly, your nose still nuzzling Peter’s. His eyes were wide and soft as they stared at you, and you giggled quietly as he bit his lip.

“Hey,” you breathed, moving your fingers away from his chin slowly. He caught your hand in his, lacing his fingers with yours.

“Hey,” he replied quietly, a broad smile taking over his face. “That was unexpected.”

You chuckled. “Just a bit.”

Nursery having his bday on Valentine’s Day means he prolly didn’t realise a bazillion times people were giving him a present to confess their feelings…

Like girls gives him chocolates.

“Oh thank you! I didn’t know you knew today was my birthday.”

Girl gets too guilty/flustered and just goes with it.

“Flowers? Thanks! Nobody has ever give me flowers for my birthday before. This is super cool.”

Guy shamefully retreats.

And it happens all the time till…

“Here Nurse, happy whatever” said Dex pushing a badly wrapped present against Nursey’s chest.

“What did you get me?” Nursery asked excitedly and ignoring Dex awkward shifting.

“It’s shaped like a book, feels like a book and looks like a book” said Dex dryly while crossing his arms.

Nursey by this point has tuned him out and ripped the paper apart.

“It’s a book!” Nursery said pleased.

“Shocking,” muttered Dex sarcastically.

“Love Letters of Great Men?” Nursey read out loud and felt his cheeks warm for no reason.

“Yeah,” Dex said oddly still.

“It looks interesting, thanks for the birthday present,” Nursey said already skimming through the book.

Dex cleared his throat. “It isn’t for your birthday.”

Nursey almost missed that, but then his head snapped up and his mouth fell open.

“Happy Valentine’s day you moron,” Dex said before trying to make a break for it.

“No wait!” Nursey called out desperately while stepping on top of the wrapping paper he had left fall to the floor, and slipping.

Dex caught him before he could face plant into the floor, with an exasperated sigh. Nursey looked up at him.

“I’m falling for you,” he said.

Dex mouth fell open and he dropped Nursey.

“Hey!”

“You deserve that,” Dex said with pink cheeks.

“Maybe a little,” Nursey admitted, standing up. “Can I take you out to dinner?”

“It’s Valentine’s Day idiot, everywhere is full” Dex said, his position relaxing and allowing Nursey to stand closer than normal.

“Well, I know this place, they have excellent pie and I know for a fact will be empty today.”

“…fine, but we are ordering take out and just watching a movie.”

“No Netflix and chill?” Nursey asked with a smirk.

Dex made a frustrated noise and walked away. “I changed my mind!”

“No wait! Dex I was joking!”

“I’ll see you at 6,” Dex snapped as he continued to walk away.

Could you do Harry X Daughter of Hades reader with her attitude more like Meg (NOT related to her, like how Jay acts more like Aladdin) I can’t stop thinking about the song I won’t say (I’m in love).
I kind of took the song idea and ran with it soooo…

If there was a prize for rotten judgement, you had already won it. Every person that you were drawn was inherently bad, not in the sense that they were a villain like you, but in the aspect that they wanted to break you heart. First the son of Scar, then the son Shan Yu, the sons of Mother Gothel, The Queen of Hearts and Dr Facilier equally as damaging to your mental wellbeing. Boys to you, were bad news, and you had had your heart broken so many times it was becoming tiring. You were the daughter of Hades, a goddess who was supposed to be the embodiment of evil, but it was hard to uphold a stone-cold reputation when you were constantly sniffling about your latest failed love interest. It was your best friend who always had to scoop you up off the floor, your best friend who always told you you were better than which ever villain broke your heart, your best friend who taught you that you didn’t need any pathetic boyfriend to make you worthy. It was also you best friend who had threatened to hook anybody who so much as looked at you the wrong way, but that was a habit you were trying to talk him out of. In short our best friend was pretty fucking amazing, if not a little intense. So you took his advice and made a new philosophy, vowing to never fall in love again. It wasn’t quite what he had meant but it was the easiest way to insure you would’t be hurt once more. Why would you need a relationship when you already had everything you needed in a best friend, when you already had everything you needed in Harry Hook.

“I could hurt ye,” Harry whispered a hint of seduction lingering in his Scottish accent as he traced the outline of Mal’s face with his hook.
He didn’t believe his luck when he found his Captain’s worst enemy in the “Curl Up and Dye” whilst making his usual rounds, and was using the opportunity to get underneath her skin. His brief session of intimidation was swiftly interrupted by the entrance of a very familiar goddess.
“Oh come on Harry! My best friend hasn’t even been on the Isle for an hour and you’re already threatening her! Hands off now!”
You had walked in on Harry threatening one of your closest friends, Evie and Dizzy standing in a corner not really knowing what to do.
You marched towards the smirking pirate and gave him the look, the look that meant business, the look that meant: you have two seconds to do what I say or I can no longer be held responsible for my actions.
Harry sighed.
“Oh come on Y/N, I’m only playing” he taunted, grinning at you slightly two widely.
You rolled your eyes.
“Off!”
“I thought I was yer best friend not her”
“Harry!”
“Ye haven’t replaced me now have ye darling?” He said with mock sarcasm, turning to you with puppy eyes before winking. He was still poking his hook at Mal, making you huff a little.
You changed your tactics, standing behind the pirate and pushing your lips to his ear.
“Now where would you get that idea Hook” you said so quietly it could have been a whisper, slowly running your hand up Harry’s back.
You felt all of his muscles tense up under his shirt and smirked to yourself. Your plan worked, his focus shifted to you instead of the purple haired VK. Suddenly you pulled him backwards away from Mal and stood in front of him, arms crossed with an un-amused look painted on your face.
“Don’t look at me like that. Ye make it out like I’m some kind of bad guy” Harry grinned, his signature smirk reappearing.
“That’s because you are”
The pirate pouted.
“Yer forgetting that ye ain’t exactly a saint yourself Y/N”.
You both looked each other in the eye, trying to keep a straight face, but cracked simultaneously, erupting into a fit of giggles.
“Perhaps. I guess this is why we are friends,” you said eventually but then hardened your tone again. “But I swear to god Har. If you threaten Mal again I’ll personally make sure you’re banished to the underworld. I don’t care how much Uma hates her”
You glanced at Mal with a smile, who had gone to join Dizzy and Evie in the corner of the salon.
“Anything for ye…” Harry started, when his eyes lit up with mischief you new exactly how he was going to finish the sentence. The dreaded nickname.
“Don’t you dare call m-”
“Hot stuff!”.
He winked at you and you groaned running towards him and shoving his chest. Harry had called you hot stuff since you were ten, when he made you so angry that your hair ignited, engulfing your head with cobalt flames much like your father. You begged him for days to stop, but seeing as you hated it so much (mainly due to the fact that people started to presume you were together) Harry decided to keep it.

As your hands connected with the pirate chest, he grabbed your arm and pulled you towards him. In a second, you were tossed over his shoulder, kicking, screaming and flailing your limbs as he spun you around in a circle, his hook resting over the small of your back. You were both chuckling heartily, completely forgetting you had an audience until little Dizzy cleared her throat loudly enough for you to hear.
“Harold James Hook! Put me down right now!”
“Any thing ye say… Hot stuff”
“Harry!” You screeched.
“Well as much as I would love to stay and chat.. hot stuff” He ignored your glare but sniggered to himself before continuing “But I’ve got more children to steal from”
Immediately your jaw clenched and Harry realised his mistake too late.
“You’re stealing from children again?”
He ran his hands through his hair and avoided your eyes.
“I am a villain Y/N. It’s what I do”
“No, we talked about this Harry! You’re a villain yes, but not a monster. You don’t steal from children”
“Uma told me t-”
“Uma doesn’t control what you do”
“No, I’m sorry I forgot that was ye job” Harry muttered sarcastically under his breath.
You raised an eyebrow at him long enough for him to cave in.
“Fine! I’ll give it all back!” The pirate finally announced “Ye going to be the death of my Y/N” he said rolling his eyes.
“What else are best friends for Harry?” You grinned back at him as he made his way out of the salon.
“Dizzy yer money” He grumbled reluctantly, dropping it by the door before turning back to face you “Meet you in the market at seven?”
“Meet you in the market at seven” you reaffirmed, nodding at him with a grin.
Harry hadn’t even been gone 10 seconds before you were descended on by the group of confused yet intrigued VK’s standing in the corner.

“Oh. My. God!” Evie shrieked like a little school girl, jumping up and down and squealing
“We knew it! We all new it!” Dizzy shouted, grabbing your forearm and tugging at it a little.
You huffed but chuckled lightly at their giddiness.
“You know what?”
“That you love Harry!” Mal practically shouted, grabbing your other arm and beaming at you.
“No.” You said defiantly, your top lip wrinkling at the mention of the word love. “I most certainly do not.”
“Who’d you think you’re kidding Y/N?” Evie laughed “He’s the earth and heaven to you”
“He’s my best friend!” You protested.
“We can see right through you. You love each other!” Mal added, glancing at Evie with a knowing look.
“It’s okay Mal, just shout it a bit louder. I don’t think the deaf man at the end of the alley quite heard you” you hissed, shaking the girls off of your arm “We do not love each other okay?”
“But you have him wrapped around your finger! Do you think he would have given me back my money if anbody else had told him to” Dizzy tried to reason.
“He’s my best friend!” You repeated.
“And I’ve seen the way you look at each other” Mal said.
“He’s all you talk about, all you think about” Evie said backing her up.
You inhaled sharply before starting to ramble, refusing to take a breath until you had finished
“I am not in love with Harry Hook he is my best friend and that’s how it has been and how it will always be everything works just fine the way it is we do not need to complicate that by taking it any further I mean why would we anyway relationships aren’t even a thing on the isle and I don’t need to ruin the one thing that I got right because of some stupid feelings that might not even really be there”
The three VK’s looked at each other, then at you
“Oh my gosh Y/N you’re scared of falling in love”
“I am not!”
“Face it like a grown up Y/N, you’ve got it bad. It’s a good thing you know, love is a good thing”
“You don’t get it”
“But we do… Don’t be proud Y/N, it’s okay to admit you’re in love”
You just looked at them for a second, your stony facade wavering slightly as a memory invaded your thoughts.

(Flashback)
Vibrant, curious, alive with bounce and effort. That’s how you remember the two of you that night. Your hair was flowing behind you, rustled by the breeze, as you ran giggling from the brunette beside you. He was mesmerised by your goofy grin, your cheeks pink from the cold. You and Harry couldn’t have been older than seven but you had snuck out once the sun had set, running barefoot down a grassy sand dune, holding your shoes in one hand, tossing them over one shoulder, grabbing each others hand with the opposite.
“Harry, look at the sea!” You shouted with wonder.
Reflected on the gossamer surface of the ocean was a perfect silver orb, a full moon, making the young pirate laugh a little.
“It’s only the moon Y/N”
“But it looks pretty though. It just looks so perfect ” you defended, pouting a little as you gazed out at the water.
“Yer really weird you know” Harry said, letting go of your hand but shuffling closer to you.
“Oh” was all you said quietly.
“It’s a good thing” Harry rushed, trying to explain what he was thinking “Ye know normal people are boring”
Harry looked at you, his pirate hat was way too big for his head so it slouched too far forward, covering his eyes. You broke out into an uncontrollable smile as you looked up at Harry who even at that age was taller than you.
“I love you Harry”
“I love you too”
Then the seven year old pirate knelt down, one knee digging into the wet sand as he took off his hat. He scrambled around in his back pocket until he pulled out a small copper ring, a glossy black stone adorned the band.
You gasped.
“Will ye marry me Y/N?” the younger Harry Hook announced, giving you the ring and grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
Your smile was even wider.
“Har! We are far too young to get married! Ask me again when we’re older and I’ll say yes.”
You passed him back the ring and kissed his cheek.
“Okay Y/N” Harry said slightly deflated but still smiling as wide, “Ye better not forget”

When you snapped out of your daydream, Evie, Mal and Dizzy were staring at you with smug looks, leaving you to wonder how long you had zoned out for.
“I won’t say I’m in love” was all you huffed before you left the salon.

You weren’t even half way down the street before you started to curse the three of them. Because, for the first time, it occurred to you. They might actually be right.
You were in love with Harry Hook.
Shit.
You were in love with Harry Hook.
He was your one stable force, your one ounce of stability in a world of chaos who was always there through good and bad. You loved him so much for that. You were in love with him and you couldn’t believe that you’d only just realised it.
But then the doubt came.
You knew he didn’t love you back, Harry had made it very clear on numerous occasions, hell, he was the one who told you to stop falling in love. Once before you had tried to confess your feelings for Harry, even if you didn’t consciously realise that was what you were doing yourself, and the outcome had bruised way more than just your ego.

(Flashback)
Ursula’s Fish and Chip Shop was packed as per usual. You were hustled into a particularly lively corner, talking with Harry over a plate full of fries. It wasn’t unusual for you two to eat together, in fact you had been bonding over questionably good fish and chips for as long as you could remember. It had become a tradition. Much like it had become a tradition to try and calm Harry down when he told you about who was irritating him and tradition for him to throw food all over the place. Much like how it had become tradition for Harry to glare at anybody else who tried to talk to you until they walked away. Much like how it had become tradition for you to laugh at him and tell him to relax. But that day was different.
“I don’t think ye understand how much I hate that kid,” Harry snarled, picking up a handful of fries and launching them across the room. Normal.
“Har! When did you ever care what Drew thinks anyway? If you’re mad at him, fine by me, but don’t waste my food on his sorry ass,” you laughed, hugging the plate of chips protectively. Harry slumped down beside you, muttering to himself. Also normal.
“Have ye got a problem mate because if not ye need to move along and stop looking at Y/N. She isn’t interested” He shouted at whichever poor boy was approaching you. Again completely and utterly normal.
“Give it a rest Har, I can defend myself” you giggled. Normal, sweet normal.
But then you tilted your head to look at him
“Besides Harry, I wanted to ask you something”
Not normal. This was new. This was un-expected. This was spontaneous, out of blue, intriguing but not in any realm of normality.
“Well ask away” replied Harry with a grin, clearly he wasn’t phased by the new conversation.
“I was just wondering whether you wanted to go and see the floating lanterns with me tomorrow, you know for my birthday. They’ll be lighting them in Auradon all weekend so if we get boat at night we’ll be able to see them across the lake” You looked up at Harry hopefully “I thought it could be nice”
“Ye want to see the lanterns?”
You nodded your head.
“Ye have always been odd Y/N. But yes, I’ll come see the lanterns with ye. I’ll get Uma and Gil to come t-”
“No!” You said quickly before returning your voice back to normal “I mean, maybe us two could just go.
You smiled weakly at Harry, who cocked his head and looked at you differently. It took a moment for you to realise what you had just done. You had asked Harry on a date. You cursed yourself over and over unable to comprehend why you had just done that. He rubbed the back off his neck.
“Hmm, when I think about it I have to train some new crew members with Uma. Maybe another time?”
Your stomach twinged a little but your forced yourself to keep smiling.
“What about the day after. Like I say they’ll be letting them off all weeke-”
“I’m on lookout duty all that night”
“Oh” You felt about two centimetres tall in that moment but you refused to let that stupid smile falter.
“How about you just tell me when you’re free and we’ll go on a boat trip then. Lanterns or no lanterns. I mean my birthday would have passed but it’s okay”
Harry put his hook down on the table and avoided your gaze purposely.
“I don’t really have time for a boat trip. I’ve just always got stuff to do”
Rejected. You had just been rejected by your best friend and it stung like a bitch.
“That okay,” you lied “No worries”
Harry picked up another chip and ate it awkwardly. You didn’t speak for a while.
A small piece of you had just died, but you kept that goddamn smile on your face.
“Are ye okay Y/N, ye look like yer going to be sick”
“Yeah yeah I’m fine. Actually no, I think I’m getting sick. I’m just going to sleep it off. Bye”
You ran out of the restaurant and away from a bewildered looking pirate, before he could stop you. You couldn’t work out why you were crying about Harry Hook that day but looking back it was so obvious; your heart had been re-broken.

You weren’t mad at Harry after that day, how could you be? He hadn’t done anything wrong, he just didn’t love you in that way. But that was okay, because he was still your best friend, nothing could take away from that. So you moved on, accepted that being friends was the best you were going to get and pushed any feelings you had for Harry deep down. Just not deep enough.

You were down at the market place before Harry was, so you took the time you had spare to browse the various stalls, ignoring the calls of market traders to buy their produce. Usually if you wanted something you would just steal it, an odd apple here and there, a random scarf from time to time. Recently though, you had being to cut back on your petty thieving vice so you resisted the urge to take anything. You made your way to a small cart at the back of the market selling jewellery, the whole stand glinting with golds, silvers and bronzes. You knew none of it would be precious metal, you simply didn’t get that on the isle, but they were pretty nonetheless.
“How much is this one,” you said, picking up a silver hair brooch encrusted with small red gems.
The market vender was about to answer but was cut off by a voice from behind you, a familiar palm resting on your shoulder.
“Might not be the best idea to get that with yer hair sweetheart” Harry whispered, pulling himself in close to you and speaking in your ear.
A nauseating jolt of butterfly’s rippled through your stomach before you could stop yourself. Get a grip girl. You tried to tell yourself but you couldn’t help it.
You handed the hair clip back to the stall worker and walked away with Harry.
“I was going to get that you know” you said, punching Harry playfully in the arm.
He grinned at you.
“I didn’t know ye were the jewellery type hot stuff”
You punched him again for using that god awful nickname before you answered him.
“I love jewellery Har, you know it’s one of my many weakness’”
It was true, Harry would often tease you, calling you a magpie, as you had a soft spot necklaces and earrings.
“I got you something” Harry said quietly, opening the his palm to reveal a intricate ring. He reached for your hand, slipping it onto your finger and smiling at you.
You looked at the pirate, then at the ring, then back at the pirate again.
“Harry! It’s beautiful” You flung your arms around him but then paused “Did you steal it?”
Harry scoffed.
“Did I steal it? Ye got some nerve ye do Y/N. Of course I didn’t. I’m just offended ye don’t recognise it” he laughed.
You looked at the ring Harry had given you again. It was copper, a glossy black stone adorning the band. It was the ring from the beach, the ring from your childhood. You took a step backwards
“Harry I-”
You were cut off when Harry pushed his forehead against yours, your eyes widening in alarm. He slowly, started to angle his head towards yours, his lips parting slightly. He was going to kiss you, holy shit he was going to kiss you. A wave of anger washed over you almost instantly.
“Harry what the hell!”
You slapped him hard, straight across his face, surprising the both of you. You were only getting angrier.
“Y/N-”
“No! Stop it! Stop playing with my emotions! I thought you were different! I don’t get it, you don’t like me enough to spend time with me on my birthday Harry, MY BIRTHDAY, but somehow you think it’s okay to spring shit like this on me!” The ends of your hair were burning blue now
“I didn’t mean to-”
“This is all just an intimidation thing isn’t it” you yelled not caring who was staring now “You flirt with everyone you’re trying to intimidate I knew that, but I’m supposed your best friend, why are you trying to scare me”
“I don’t w-”
“I’m going to walk away now so I don’t set myself on fire in public,” you said as calmly as you could manage “Go try and kiss somebody else”

You had to calm down and you knew it. You had to do it fast. Your hair was always the first thing to catch fire but the burning sensation would spread further than that if you couldn’t control it. You wanted to cry, to scream, to tear down a building when you stomped away from Harry, your confusion at his actions amplifying your emotions. You had to stay in control. There was one time when you couldn’t, when the anger was so overwhelming that your body temperature rose so dangerously high that you collapsed. You were hospitalised for weeks with severe burns, reiterating the fact that although you were the daughter of a god, you weren’t immortal. An uncomfortable prickle of heat spread across your skin as you collapsed in the alleyway bawling. You were lucky that Evie found you.
“He tried to kiss me Evie. I don’t understand him and it’s driving me insane. I don’t know what he’s thinking,”
“Oh Y/N,” Evie said, daring to touch your shoulder once you had cooled down “You are literally the only person on the whole Isle who can’t hear what he’s trying to tell you”

Optimistic. That’s how you felt as you stepped onto that pirate a ship, a strong belief that everything was going to turn out brilliantly. Evie helped you to accept that perhaps you over-reacted at Harry’s attempt to kiss you, so you marched to the docks armed with an apology and a sorry looking smile. You felt terrible, if Harry had truly intended to kiss you genuinely then you couldn’t even begin to understand how he was feeling. Not only had you completely rejected the poor pirate, you had embarrassed him in front of the whole market. The saddest part of all of the whole messy situation was that you actually wanted to kiss Harry, it was your fear of admitting your feelings that was pushing you away. You hoped Harry was in an understanding mood.

You scoured the upper deck for the pirate but you struggled to find him anywhere. You did on the other hand, find Uma.
“Hey Uma! Do you know where Harry is?” You asked the Captain, slowly making your way towards her.
You may not exactly have been friends with Uma but you two were civil and got along well enough. She nodded at you reluctantly, as if contemplating whether to speak.
“He’s in his cabin,” she replied softly, looking at you with pity.
You presumed she was acting strangely because Harry had told her about the market incident. You were wrong.

You whistled to yourself as you you climbed the stairs to Harry’s cabin, pausing outside of his door to give yourself a pep talk. There was no point in denying it anymore, you were completely and utterly head over heels for the boy and bottling your feelings up wasn’t going to help anything. You decided then and there you were just going to tell him, get everything off of your chest once and for all. It was Harry after all, you could tell him anything in confidence and vice versa, the two of you were practically inseparable.
“You’ve got this Y/N,” You told yourself “Get in there and get yourself a boyfriend”.
You grinned nervously but felt oddly calm, opening the door of Harry’s bedroom.
“Har?” You called out softly.
Then your whole world collapsed.

Harry Hook.
Hailey Facilier.
Kissing.
Each other.
On the lips.
That’s all you had to see to know it had happened again.
Your heart had well and truly broken this time.
You shut the door slowly, knowing they hadn’t seen you.
You felt like you’d been hit in the face.
But the funny thing was, you weren’t surprised. Harry was the biggest flirt on the Isle, he was known to break hearts left right and centre, yet you refused to believe he would do that to you. It was like giving a murder a knife and expecting not to be stabbed. After all he had said about the guys who had hurt you, he had joined the list himself. But you still weren’t prepared for it. How could you possibly have prepared to have your heart ripped out of your chest. You underestimated the power of heartbreak. Why were you never ready for it? Because you loved him. Or maybe because you were in denial. You thought Harry would never do it to you. You thought the murder wouldn’t stab you. But you had been stabbed all right, stabbed right in the very back.

You stumbled your way back to the main ship. You couldn’t see, you didn’t know where you were or where you were going, you knew one thing and one thing only. You were burning. Anger boiled deep down in your system, as hot as lava, scorching you from the inside out. It churned from within you, hungry for destruction and you knew this time that it’s too much for you to handle. There was no way for you to control this. The pressure of the raging sea of anger wouldn’t just force you to say things you didn’t mean or release the pent up emotions you had suppressed for weeks, it would hurt people, including yourself. Seriously hurt people.
How could you Harry? was the only thought you had as you hit the deck.

“Harry!” Gil yelled as he ran to find the first mate “Harry! We don’t know what to do!”
The doors to Harry’s cabin flew open revealing him sat alone at the foot of his bed, his head in his hands. He jerked his head to face Gil.
“What are ye going on about,” he snapped.
“It’s Y/N! I think she’s about to set on fire again!”
Harry winced at your name but still managed to roll his eyes.
“She’s the daughter of bloody Hades what do ye expect! Ye know her hair sets on fire”
Gil shook his head violently, so much so it made him dizzy
“Yeah but Harry! It’s not just her hair!”

Harry was panicking. He was there when this happened before, when he had no idea what to do, when all he could do was stand and watch you. He raced down to the ship deck, where you were laid on the floor, a crowd of pirates surrounding you. He pushed them all out of the way.
“What the fuck has made her so mad!” Harry screamed to no-one in particular as he kneeled beside you.
“Get away from me!” You spat, wiggling as far from his as you could. You couldn’t stand up anymore, your entire body glowing red as you continued to get hotter and hotter. It hurt to move.
“Y/N”
“Please,” you croaked, any resentment in your voice vanishing, leaving you completely vulnerable “Please just go back to Hailey”
“What do you mean back to Ha- Y/N you’ve got this all wrong”
Without thinking Harry reached for you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you in close. He grimaced, a searing burning pain exploding from the arm that was holding you but he shrugged it off, pulling you into a closer embrace. He started to rub your cheek.
“Please try and calm yer self down Y/N” He whispered to you.
“Let go of me Harry, I’m hurting you”. You were crying but your tears turned to steam as soon as they touched your face.
“I’m the one that’s hurt ye love and I’m sorry”
His embrace was soothing, his muscular arms protective of you as he held your frail burning body. Slowly but surely you felt your body temperature decline.
“Do you love her Harry?” It was a question you didn’t want to know the answer to but you asked anyway.
“Y/N ye don’t seriously think that do ye?” He gripped your harder. Your skin was no longer glowing like embers of a bonfire but you still far from back to normal.
“I saw you kissing and-”
“She kissed me Y/N! She kissed me! And I pushed her off me! And I screamed at her because…” He paused for a second and just looked at you.
“Because what?” Your voice was gentler now.
“Because I fucking love ye Y/N”
It happened suddenly, as if someone had flipped a switch.
You were extinguished.
The flames disappeared.
A new kind of warmth dispersed inside of you, a tingling happy glow of heat radiating from your stomach banishing the remnants of any anger. You melted, returning back to your normal state, looking up at Harry in disbelief.
“What?”
“Ye heard me, I love ye. And I’ve told myself for so long that I didn’t, because I was scared of ye finding out but I can’t help it I-”
“I love you too Har”
You buried your face into the crook of Harry’s neck, no longer afraid of burning him to death.
The Pirates around you began to cheer and you became suddenly aware that you had an audience. Harry waved his hands in an odd gesture and they all scurried away, leaving you sat on Harry’s lap in the middle of the ship.
“I’m sorry for being a dick”
“And I’m sorry for nearly giving you third degree burns”
You both spluttered with laughter.
“Yer lethal Y/N. Remind me of this whenever I plan on making ye angry again,”
“Oh so you plan on making me angry in advance do you?” You smirked back at the pirate.
You were back to being Y/N and Harry again, slipping back into the comforting roles as if nothing had happened,as if you hadn’t just been sat on the floor consumed by your own raging anger. It was refreshing.
“Ye better believe it” Harry winked at you.
He offered you a hand and pulled you up to stand behind him.
“Now!” He said grandly “About that boat trip ye were banging on about…”
Harry lead you to the ship’s railing and motioned towards a small white rowing boat tied up along the docks, a singular paper lantern resting at the bow.
You grinned at him.
“Harold James Hook, have I told you I love you?”
“I love ye more”
“Not possible”
“It is”
“It isn’t”
“It is”
“God we’re unbearable aren’t. we,” you chuckled lightly.
“I’m afraid we are..” Harry smirked “…Hotstuff”

“It’ll be fun!” Lydia insisted but you weren’t sure.

“There’s nothing bad about spending some time in the woods.” Malia piped in with a smile.

“But guys it;s a week in the Beacon Hills woods… can’t you help me convince one of you to come.” You mumbled but they shot you apologetic looks.

“We planned stuff when they said no the first few times… but if you like I have a satellite phone I can give you.”Lydia offered and you nodded, not questioning wy or when she’d gotten it. “I’ll drop it round before you go.”

It’s not that he doesn’t love Lydia. Of course he loves Lydia. He’s always loved her; been infatuated with her; fascinated with the idea of her. That never really went away. It just changed; grew deeper and more complex with everything that they had experienced.

It’s just that after she drives him to college and leaves him with a lingering kiss and a promise that she’d see him soon, things feel different.

So much has happened since that night he dragged Scott into the woods to look for the body of Laura Hale. So much has happened that he doesn’t really feel like he fits into his own life. He tries to ignore it; to pretend that everything is okay; but after the Ghost Riders, he realises he can’t pretend anymore.

It might be the fact that he was stuck waiting in the train station with Peter Hale but he’s been thinking about Derek. He’s been thinking about Derek a lot, thinking that if anyone understands what it’s like to feel like you don’t fit into your own life, it would be Derek.

One night, after a few too many beers, he texts Derek. He doesn’t expect a response, sure that Derek has changed his number many, many times since he left Beacon Hills without so much as a goodbye. Hell, who knows if Derek even has a phone anymore? It’s not like he was good at texting even when he had some semblance of a pack, of people that maybe, sort of cared about him.

I don’t feel like I’m me anymore. Feels like I’m trying really hard to be the same but it just seems hollow.

He doesn’t get a response but it doesn’t really bother him. He wasn’t expecting one anyway. He’s stopped expecting things from people. He’s stopped expecting a lot of things. That voice in the back of his head tells him that he stopped expecting things from Derek when he left without saying goodbye, like hours in a pool meant absolutely nothing, like Stiles meant absolutely nothing.

So yeah, he wasn’t expecting a reply. He just wanted to say the words.

After that, it kind of becomes a thing.

It doesn’t happen all the time. During the day, Stiles manages just fine. He has classes and assignments and even a couple of tentative friends who he’ll grab a coffee with every now and then.

It’s a different story at night though. He tosses and turns for hours, terrified that if he falls asleep, he’ll disappear again and that no one will bring him back. Those endless days in the train station plague his thoughts and he just can’t seem to escape them. It feels like he’s running through those tunnels again, only to end up exactly where he started.

So he tells Derek everything. He pours out the whole story, explains the terror he felt when he knew that he would be taken; when people looked him dead in the eye and had no idea who he was. He explains the frustration he felt when Peter was the only one he could rely on; the bitter disappointment when Peter left and he was all alone. He tells Derek everything and it feels like he’s standing on the edge of a cliff, just screaming into the empty nothingness. The words are out there and even if Derek never replies, it’s better to have written them than to have done nothing. It’s ever so slightly relieved the feeling of slowly choking on the terror.

He ends his text message like this: sometimes I think I’ll disappear again and no one will come looking.

And then his phone beeps.

I would.

That’s it. Two words and Stiles feels like he can breathe again. Someone would come looking for him.

It’s not like those two words opened a floodgate of communication but Derek does occasionally reply.

When I do sleep, I see Allison dying. I wonder if Scott blames me. I blame me.

If I had been a better Alpha, Erica and Boyd would have stayed. No one blamed me for that, just like no one blames you for Allison.

Do you think I’ll ever stop blaming myself?

I’m not the right person to ask about blame.

Found handcuffs in my roommate’s closet. Think he uses them for community safety on full moons or he’s just really into 50 Shades of Grey?

Stiles, it’s far more likely that your roommate is an aspiring Mr. Grey than a werewolf. Put them back where you found them. It’s rude to snoop.

Omfg I can’t believe you know what 50 Shades of Grey is!

Everyone knows what 50 Shades of Grey is.

You aren’t everyone though! I didn’t know that you read books. Or watched movies. Or had any knowledge of pop culture.

Derek doesn’t text back. Instead, he gets sent a photo of a bookshelf. It’s so full that Stiles is genuinely impressed; it doesn’t look like even one more title could be added to that collection. He doesn’t know why but he finds himself feeling kind of sad that he didn’t know this about Derek whilst he was living in Beacon Hills. Stiles tries not to dwell on the feeling but he knows himself well enough to know that he’s feeling guilty.

He knows what it’s like to wonder if anyone would care enough to come looking if he disappeared. He imagines that’s how Derek felt after his family died and Stiles didn’t do anything to make him think otherwise.

He doesn’t text back.

It’s the night of the full moon and Stiles feels strange, like something is missing. He was invited to a party or two but declined, pretending that he had an assignment he really needed to finish. He’s weeks ahead of his course work but he doesn’t want to go out tonight. He knows his friends back in Beacon Hills are going to be okay without him; knows that it’s a good thing that he hasn’t heard from them; but it stings a little.

He doesn’t like feeling so replaceable.

He sends Lydia a text message, asking how everything is going. He doesn’t want them to be in danger; doesn’t want them to struggle without him; but it would be nice if they noticed his absence. He’s hoping that Lydia will tell him that they’re okay but that they miss him.

She doesn’t reply straight away and he doesn’t know what to do with himself.

He can see the moon out of his dorm room window. He snaps a picture and sends it to Derek without thinking. Never thought I’d miss chaining Scott to a radiator, he captions the photo. He thinks he means for it to be a joke but even to his own eyes, the words seem flat on his screen. He sends them anyway. It’s not like he’s been censoring himself recently, not around Derek anyway.

On my first full moon alone, I howled at the moon, hoping that someone would answer. It’s lonely without pack.

I’m not really pack though, he responds. It’s easier than acknowledging the fact that Derek’s family burned to death in their family home; that crazy Uncle Peter tore his sister into pieces; that his only remaining family are either certifiably insane or residing with a pack in South America.

It’s okay to miss being needed.

I don’t know if they ever really needed me.

Derek texts back a photo of a pool.

A quick internet search confirms that it’s just a stock photo from Google but his heart races anyway. He remembers diving into the pool and holding Derek afloat; how terrified he had been that they would both drown; that his dad would find his body and drink himself into an early grave.

He hadn’t cared about Derek then, not really, not the way he cared about him now. He had held Derek afloat because it was the right thing to do and because he was selfish. He knew that if he and his friends had any chance of surviving this, they would need Derek.

Near death experiences don’t count as being needed.

This time Derek is the one who doesn’t reply. It’s fair enough, really. Stiles wouldn’t really know what to say to that either.

When he wakes up in the morning, he has three unread messages.

Lydia tells him that all is well in Beacon Hills and tells him to check his email because she’s edited his latest essay. He tells Lydia thanks and tries to ignore the flicker of disappointment in his chest.

It counts as being needed. You weren’t just kept around because you were better than nothing. You’re an asset, Stiles. You’re smart, yet somehow stupid enough to throw yourself into danger without thinking twice. Underneath that unrelenting sarcasm and attitude, you care a hell of a lot. If it wasn’t for Scott, his attitude towards me and some of his questionable decisions, I’d have asked you to join my pack.

A second message, sent about an hour later, reads tell anyone and I’ll rip your throat out with my teeth.

He can’t help but laugh.

Lydia asks Stiles if he’s coming back to Beacon Hills for break. It had always been his plan to spend break at home, to fall back into things like he had never really left. He goes to reply, to tell Lydia that he’ll leave after his last classon Thursday, but he finds himself lying.

Sorry Lydia, totally broke. Can’t afford flights and I don’t think the Jeep would survive the drive. Maybe you could come here instead?

I can’t. It’s all hands on deck here.

She doesn’t elaborate. More noticeably, she doesn’t offer any financial assistance. Whilst he would turn it down, the Martins are one of the richest families in Beacon Hills and Lydia is generous with her money. If she cares about someone, she shows it with material gestures. He hasn’t seen Lydia in months; since she drove up to college with him. Shouldn’t she want to see him? Shouldn’t he be moving mountains to see her? This is Lydia, after all. He’s been in love with her for as long as he can remember.

All he knows is that something doesn’t feel right here. There’s a gentle hum of disappointment under his skin but when he examines it, he finds that it seems to be related to the fact that he didn’t know Beacon Hills was facing another threat. It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the fact that he’s not going to be seeing Lydia this break. He doesn’t know much about relationships but he knows that she’s supposed to offer and he’s supposed to care.

His fingers hover uncertainly over his phone, not quite sure what to say. He can’t actually remember the last time he properly spoke to Lydia. They text a few times a week, when he has time between class and she’s not busy with pack business. He scrolls back through the conversation and he’s struck by how superficial it seems. He can’t even remember the last time that they spoke on the phone. They agreed to have weekly Face Time calls but after their plans fell through three times in a row, they stopped making arrangements.

In the end, he sends back a simple good luck. He needs more time to analyse before he says anything more.

He manages to fall asleep before 3am, which is no small feat these days. He dreams of his mum, of her body on the kitchen floor and his tears marking her face as he cries down the phone, begging for an ambulance. He dreams of her body on a cool metal table in the morgue, of his father having to identify the body because his mum was sick and Stiles couldn’t get the ambulance quick enough to save her.

He dreams of Peter offering him the bite but this time he accepts it, sick and tired of being the weak, defenseless human. He can feel the pain, can feel fire coursing through his veins, and he knows that the bite isn’t taking. He isn’t strong enough to survive the bite so he’s going to die, all alone on the cold, hard concrete.

He dreams of the pool, of Derek growing heavier and heavier. “It’s okay”, Derek whispers, as Stiles has no choice but to let go. He watches Derek’s paralysed body sinking to the bottom of the pool, his lungs burning as they fill with water, and he cannot do anything.

He sees Erica standing on his front porch, smiling at him. He relaxes. Maybe this is a nice dream. Erica is alive and happy, which is how things should be. He tentatively smiles back, lifts a hand in greeting. Her smile grows wider, showing bloody teeth, and he reels back. Blood keeps dripping, gushing out of her mouth, until she keels over on his welcome mat. He doubles over and vomits on his front lawn.

He dreams of Gerard. He manages to get free, trips as he tries to run up the stairs and escape the basement. Gerald just laughs as he slowly walks up the stairs and takes hold of his leg. He screams as Gerard drags him back down the stairs, knowing exactly what fate awaits him there.

He dreams of motel car parks and road flares, of Scott going up in flames because Stiles isn’t enough to save him; because Stiles has never been enough. He says all the right words but Scott just scoffs and tells him that he wishes he had never met him, that his life would have been so much better without Stiles, that it was Stiles’ fault they were in the woods that night. Scott tells him that everything has always been his fault, then drops the road flare and the whole car park burns a fierce red.

He dreams of the Nogitsune, of the darkness. He pushes the blade into Allison’s stomach, hears Lydia’s screams reverberating off the tunnel walls. He wants to take it back, to do something, to save the girl his best friend loved; to save the girl he once considered a friend. He can’t do anything though; he’s not strong enough to fight the darkness.

He dreams of the Ghost Riders, of endless days and nights waiting for someone to remember him, of thinking that maybe it would be better for everyone if he didn’t come back. Easier, maybe. He dreams that he comes back and his dad’s face contorts into something unrecognisable, twisted by anger and grief; the regret of choosing to remember his son at the cost of losing his wife all over again.

He awakes suddenly, covered in sweat and gasping for air. He doesn’t think, just grabs his phone and dials the only person he thinks will understand.

It doesn’t matter that it’s nearly 4am. Derek answers the phone after the second ring and god, Stiles has missed his voice. He didn’t realise just how much until he hears it again.

“Stiles?”

Months ago, Derek texted I would and Stiles felt like he could breathe again. Now, Derek has said his name and he feels grounded again, like his feet are back on the ground.

“Bad dream”, he answers. “Sorry for waking you”. He knows Derek wasn’t asleep but it’s the polite thing to say.

Derek doesn’t say anything. Years ago, back when they first met, Stiles interpreted the silence as frustration, like Derek was purposely not fulfilling his role in the conversation so that Stiles would get the hint and shut up. After a while, Stiles started to think that Derek was silent because he was socially awkward and just didn’t really know how to participate in a conversation. After all, he had been alone for a long time.

Derek’s silence seems different now, though, like he’s giving Stiles a chance to process his thoughts and decide where he needs to begin.

“Why did you leave without saying goodbye?” he asks, acknowledging for the first time that he was bothered by it.

“I didn’t think anyone would really care”, Derek says, like it’s that simple. In Derek’s eyes, it probably was that simple.

“I did”. He pauses and the silence stretches between them for a few more seconds as Derek allows Stiles to collect his thoughts. “I was the one who realised you were gone. I went to the loft after school and the place was empty. I don’t have werewolf senses so I couldn’t just track you down… I drove around for hours looking for you. I was fucking terrified that you had been taken by someone or something but then I found Peter at that stupid abandoned train cart you used to live in. He told me that you had gone and that you didn’t want to be found. That fucking stung, by the way. You said goodbye to Peter but not to me”.

“He’s family”. Again, his words are spoken like it’s just that simple.

“Blood isn’t always thicker than water, Derek! Peter is a fucking lunatic, alright? He killed Laura! That’s unforgivable! I know I’m just some stupid, spastic teenager and that you’d happily rip my throat out with your teeth if it wouldn’t stain your upholstery but I deserved a fucking goodbye”.

It’s not until he says the words aloud that he realises how angry he is. He cares about Derek. He has done for a long time now. He trusts Derek in a way that he doesn’t trust anyone else and that’s not a recent thing. The reason he feels comfortable enough texting Derek all his deepest, darkest thoughts isn’t just because he thinks Derek will understand. It’s because he trusts Derek. Quiet, angry, hurting Derek who proved himself time and time again; who proved that despite all his faults, he would show up when it counted; would save and protect Stiles no matter what. He thought that maybe, just maybe, Derek trusted him too; that maybe Derek cared just a little bit; but then he left without so much as a goodbye or a forwarding address.

Stiles doesn’t know what else to say so he hangs up.

I should have said goodbye.

I wanted to but I wasn’t sure you would care.

Actually, that’s a lie. I think I knew that you, out of all people, would understand why I was leaving. I think I was just trying to avoid an honest conversation that I wasn’t ready for.

I’m sorry.

Thank you.

He doesn’t text Derek for about a week. He tells himself that it’s because he needs to invest more time into his studies and into his relationship with Lydia but he knows that’s a lie borne out of self-preservation.

In all honesty, he’s scared.

He hasn’t been scared of Derek for a long time. He’s been scared for Derek and whilst around Derek, both of which are common feelings considering Derek seems to have an annoyingly persistent habit of getting into life threatening danger.

He’s scared now though because Derek can be awfully perceptive when he wants to be. Derek also happens to understand him more than most other people these days, which is why Stiles has been messaging him in the first place. If Derek was really listening – and Stiles thinks that he was – then he’s revealed just a little bit too much about his feelings.

Stiles has always found Derek attractive. Even when Derek was threatening to rip his throat out or pushing his head into a steering wheel, he’s been very aware that Derek is more attractive than most people in Beacon Hills combined. Stiles has eyes after all. He’s sure that Derek is aware of it; that he’s smelt the arousal that seems to follow Stiles everywhere he goes, particularly where Derek is involved. Derek, to his credit, has politely ignored the attraction rather than acknowledging it and causing never ending humiliation.

Somewhere along the way, things shifted. The more time Stiles spent around Derek, the more he realised that Derek wasn’t just a pretty face. He had been through hell and somehow still survived but it was more than that. Weaker men would have crumbled if they had gone through half as much pain as Derek but he came through it all and somehow, he still cared about people. He turned Isaac, Erica and Boyd because he was lonely but also because he thought he was giving them a better life. He showed up, time and time again, even when he didn’t have to. Even though he said that he didn’t, he knew that Derek trusted him. Derek’s actions spoke far louder than his words and somewhere along the way, Stiles had proven himself to Derek. The threats and the violence had been replaced with an understanding that they had each other’s backs.

When he went to Derek’s apartment and found it empty, he had realised. Things had just clicked into place and he knew that his physical attraction to Derek had grown into something deeper and stronger. It was a secret that Stiles had intended to take to his grave. He had shoved it into the far corners of his mind and pretended that he wasn’t bothered by Derek’s absence; he had dated Malia and then Lydia and acted like everything was fine.

He had never talked about it so when those words tumbled out of his mouth, the anger and the frustration and the hurt feelings were still so fresh. Derek is smart enough to put the pieces together and realise that there’s something more there, at least on Stiles’ end.

So yeah, he’s scared. He’s not scared that Derek won’t reciprocate his feelings because he already knows that Derek doesn’t feel the same. He’s terrified that he’ll lose Derek completely and he doesn’t know how he’ll be able to handle it.

It’s pathetic but he’s felt more human over the last few months than he has since Derek left. He isn’t ready to lose that.

He and Lydia break up during the week that he’s ignoring Derek.

They manage to have a Face Time conversation and about three minutes in, she tells him he looks like complete crap. He tells her that he’s struggling with the distance, that after everything, he just isn’t ready to come back to Beacon Hills and she’s far too valuable to travel to him and leave the town unprotected.

Lydia doesn’t even look surprised and she’s polite enough not to call him on his bullshit.

“It’s better that we end it now. I’ve received an early acceptance to the University of Cambridge so in the near future, we’ll be on different continents”, she says in agreement.

There’s a lot left unsaid. They’re both aware that Stiles is no longer the same person he was in third grade, when he decided that he was going to be in love with Lydia Martin forever. They’ve both lost people and gone through more trauma than most people see in a lifetime. Rather than growing together, they grew apart. Stiles knows that a lot of the responsibility for that rests on his shoulders; that he should have worked through his issues with Lydia, that he should have trusted her with the burden he was carrying.

He was just so in love with the idea of Lydia; so desperate to have the perfect relationship that he had been dreaming of for years that he refused to share his darkness out of fear that it would taint everything.

He ignores the voice telling him that Derek Hale has already seen him at his worst and seems to tolerate him regardless.

For someone who once thought that Lydia Martin shined brighter than the sun, he’s remarkably okay with their breakup.

Scott texts him for the first time in weeks, a simple

heard the news. Hope you’re okay.

He replies with a smiley face. He doesn’t think there’s much else to say. He and Scott will always be brothers but they’re living different lives now.

After a particularly sleepless night, he texts Derek. He figures that if Derek was going to make a scene over Stiles’ little crush, he would have done it already.

Would your arm have grown back?

Do you think about that a lot?

I’ve done a lot of research and can’t seem to find the answer.

We aren’t related to starfish. I’m 99% sure I’d have ended up with a stump.

He gets to know Derek a lot better over text.

Breaking Bad or Walking Dead?

Is that even a question, bitch?

Summer or winter?

Winter. I remember learning how to snowboard when I was younger. My family had a lodge.

Favourite Harry Potter character?

George Weasley or Sirius Black. Ten minutes later, his iPhone indicates that Derek is still typing a message. It’s worth the wait when Derek practically sends an essay about why he likes each character. That leads to a three hour phone call about why Severus Snape is a bad person. Stiles falls asleep while Derek is ranting about the scene in the movie where Severus steps over James Potter’s dead body to see Lily.

The fact that Derek’s a secret Harry Potter fanatic makes him way happier than he should be.

Late at night, their text messages grow more serious.

Worst relationship?

I don’t think I’ve had any truly terrible relationships. I haven’t really been heartbroken or betrayed. I think I’ve been a bad boyfriend though. Both Lydia and Malia deserve better.

You weren’t heartbroken over Lydia?

Not really. I was more in love with the idea of her.

That’s how I feel about Kate.

He doesn’t reply; chooses to call Derek instead. It’s 2am and for the first time ever, Derek tells another person what happened with Kate Argent. Stiles had put most of the pieces together a long time ago but hearing Derek tell the story is the most horrific thing Stiles has ever heard. The police reports had noted that Derek, Laura and Peter were the only survivors; that Derek’s mother and father, his grandmother, three younger siblings, and four cousins of various ages had all perished in the fire.

Derek’s voice doesn’t waver as he tells Stiles that Kate had seduced him; that he had told Kate all about his family; that he had mentioned a family gathering that he wanted her to attend. He tells Stiles that he came home from lacrosse practice to see his family home burning to the ground.

Stiles only utters four words that night but repeats them like a mantra until Derek’s breathing evens out and he drifts off to sleep.

It wasn’t your fault.

Did you love Jennifer?

No. I think I could have in time but we both know how that ended.

Why did you believe me when I told you she was evil?

Because it’s you. You’re one of the only people that hasn’t lied to me. That earned you a little bit of faith.

Did you love Brayden?

No. I think I wanted to show the world that I had survived Kate and Jennifer and didn’t have any emotional wounds. I think most people would call that a rebound relationship.

Do you think you could fall in love again?

Stiles waits for an excruciating seven minutes before Derek replies.

Yes.

I tried to tell my dad that I was bisexual once. I think he thought I was joking.

I never got to tell any of my family that I’m bisexual. After the fire, Laura and I moved to New York. I wanted to tell her but I couldn’t find the words. I couldn’t find the words about Kate either. I like to think that she knew anyway and loved me regardless.

I’m sorry I accused you of her murder. That was really fucked up.

I was never really going to rip out your throat with my teeth.

I know.

It was easier to just be angrier all the time. Anger is easier to manage than grief.

Was easier? Are you not angry anymore?

I’m still angry but it’s not the only thing I feel anymore. These messages help. So does therapy.

Derek Hale in therapy? I never thought I’d see the day! In all seriousness, I’ve thought about therapy a lot. I went after my mum died and it helped a little bit. I just don’t know where I’d find a therapist who knows about the supernatural.

Derek texts him a phone number for a counsellor about fifteen minutes off campus. He doesn’t ask Derek how he knew what college he was at.

Peter offered me the bite once.

I didn’t know. I’m glad you didn’t take it?

Because I’d be a terrible werewolf?

Because no one should be connected to Peter in that way. I think you’d make an excellent werewolf. Far better than Scott.

Have you seen the latest episode of Game of Thrones?

He calls Derek and they talk for hours. He almost hangs up the phone when Derek tells him that he doesn’t understand the appeal of Jon Snow but he likes the sound of Derek’s voice far too much.

On April 8th, he gets sent a photo of a cheesy card wishing him many happy returns.

Happy 18th birthday, Stiles.

He sends Derek a photo of his face with his widest grin. He didn’t even know that Derek knew his birthday.

When’s your birthday?

11th July.

And how old are you going to be? I vaguely remember starting at Beacon Hills high as you were getting to graduate but then when we saw you in the woods, you looked like you were 80.

I’m only four years older than you, Stiles. I’ll be turning 22 but I haven’t celebrated in years.

But if someone wanted to hypothetically post you a card and a present, where would they send it?

Derek sends him an address in New York City. Stiles doesn’t need to ask; he instinctively knows that this is the apartment that Derek and Laura lived in before her death.

Do you think you’ll ever go back to Beacon Hills?

Not unless it’s an emergency. I was supposed to go back with Laura when we heard about the killings in our territory but I told her that I wasn’t ready. I made her go alone.

It wasn’t your fault.

Stiles can’t sleep. He Face Times Derek and pesters him until he finally agrees to start watching Parks and Recreation.

Stiles has the same episode playing on his laptop but he finds himself paying more attention to Derek’s face than the episode. He’s never seen Derek laugh before and the sight of him chuckling is mesmerizing.

It becomes a regular thing. Derek watches something on Netflix; Stiles watches Derek.

I hope you fall in love with someone who loves you as much as I do.

Stiles should not be allowed access to his phone while under the influence of alcohol. He texts Derek that exact sentiment the next morning but Derek doesn’t respond.

He doesn’t hear from Derek again.

I’m really sorry, Derek.

I shouldn’t have made things awkward between us.

Your friendship is more than enough, I swear. I’m not going to push for something that you don’t want.

None of his messages elicit a reply and god, it hurts like a fucking bitch. He thinks he finally knows what it’s like to have a broken heart.

He receives a text from Lydia.

A little bird told me that Derek Hale is currently moping in New York City.

Peter?

Cora.

I didn’t realise you were in contact with Cora. Hell, I didn’t realise that Cora was in contact with Derek.

Of course I’m in contact with Cora. She’s a useful contact. As for her contact with Derek, that’s only a recent development. Their pack bond still exists in some form; she reached out when she realised that something didn’t feel right.

What am I supposed to do about Derek moping? It’s kind of his thing.

Check your email.

There’s an email from Lydia. It’s a forward from a travel agent, confirming that a flight for a Mr. M. Stilinski has been booked for this Saturday.

He doesn’t know what to say. It turns out he was right about Lydia Martin – when she cares about someone, she shows it in materialistic gestures. This might be the greatest gesture that she’s ever done.

Stiles can barely sit still during the flight to New York City. He’s terrified that Derek will slam the door in his face but he knows that if he doesn’t try, he’ll regret it.

The cab ride to Derek’s apartment takes an eternity. He almost forgets to grab his bag in his rush to get out of the cab and forces himself to take a deep breath; to slow down just a little.

He mentions to get into the building without buzzing, darting through an open door as one of the tenants leave the building. Before he got on the flight, Lydia had texted him the apartment number, and his hands shake as he knocks on the door.

“Stiles?” Derek’s voice sounds even better in person. “What are you doing here?”

“You didn’t reply to my texts”, he says like it’s just that simple. In his eyes, it is.

It seems like it might be just that simple to Derek too because he grabs him and pulls him close. Before Stiles can protest about being manhandled, Derek’s lips are against his and the words die on his tongue.

“Why didn’t you reply?” he asks a few hours later. He and Derek had eventually made it to the bedroom and it was everything Stiles had imagined and more. It was worth forgoing the conversation but Stiles couldn’t ignore the obvious for much longer.

“I panicked. Over text, it was easy. I could say whatever I wanted and not worry about the repercussions. The thought of it becoming something more was terrifying, Stiles. You know my relationship history”.

“And you know that I’m not like any of them”.

Derek nods in agreement. “You’re not like them. You’re more than them. You already mean more. I wanted to be in a better place before giving this a chance”.

“That’s why you’re in therapy?”

“Yeah. I’ve been considering it for a long time but that night when you yelled at me for leaving without goodbye was the final push I needed”, Derek explains. “I’m still not completely there. There are still things we need to talk about and things that will require a lot more therapy but I’m in a place to give this a chance, if you still want to”.

“If I hadn’t have shown up on your doorstep, what would have happened?”

Wordlessly, Derek passed Stiles his phone. The draft messages are illuminated on the screen and Stiles scrolls through them. There’s countless messages, dating back at least two weeks, and they’re all different versions of an apology; of an explanation. Even if Stiles hadn’t shown up on his doorstep; Derek was trying. Derek has proven himself time and time again; Stiles knows that he would eventually have sent a message explaining everything.

“I still love you and I’m all in”.

Stiles calls the university the next morning and defers his enrolment.

University can wait. Right now, he and Derek have a lot to work through, both individually and together. Stiles hopes that if things go well, he can transfer his studies to a university in the city. Based on the course catalogues he finds in Derek’s study, he thinks that they’re on the same page.

He has seven missed calls from Scott and twelve text messages, all urging him to come back to Beacon Hills.

There are three messages from Malia, stating that he needs to get his ass into gear and help them out.

There’s even a text from Lydia, saying that she wouldn’t be asking if it wasn’t serious.

He looks over at Derek, who looks more relaxed and happy than he has in a long time. “Shit’s going down in Beacon Hills. They need me to save their asses”. He wants Derek to come with him but doesn’t want to ask; doesn’t want to be responsible for Derek’s shoulders growing tense as he heads back to the town that took everything from him. “I shouldn’t be gone for more than a week”, he says as he’s packing a duffel bag and throwing it into the back of Derek’s Camaro.

“That’s what Laura said”.

There is no other explanation; nothing else that needs to be said. A second duffel bag is tossed into the back of the Camaro and Derek gets into the passenger seat like he belongs there.

Turns out he didn’t need to ask. Maybe Derek needs him just as much as he needs Derek. After all this time, it’s a nice thought. It helps keep the darkness at bay; helps Stiles feel just a little more grounded than he has done in a long time.

“You didn’t think you were doing this without me?”

“Without us?”

Yeah, it feels pretty damn good that they’re an ‘us’ now.

Conflict and Confined Spaces

A bit of angst for you all, she and Harry are bickering and reading an article about their relationship only intensifies it more.

You and Harry had been bickering on and off all day, it had started over you not being ready on time for a breakfast meeting he had wanted you to come to, it then was about a pair of boots you had left in the lounge room he had tripped over while on a business call, the pair of trousers that were on the line when it had started rain that you hadn’t gotten off and now were wet. They were petty little things, he was stressed you understood that he had so much on at the moment with press for Dunkirk and finalising things for the tour, but this didn’t mean he could take everything out on you. Things didn’t get any better when it was time for the two of you to get ready for a dinner with some of his friends, you had gotten ready before him to avoid the same argument that had happened earlier that day and spent the time on the couch reading news articles on your laptop, it was something you’d come accustom to, you’d loved to keep up to date with current affairs generally skipping over the gossip section not having the patience to read anything related to Harry or the friends he had made in the industry, but when a headline accusing Harry of cheating come up on your timeline you hadn’t scrolled past like you generally would have. Maybe it was the bickering the two of you had done all day, or the way he had told you to shut up this morning when you had argued back at him that made your eyes stick to the screen taking every word in analysing every piece of “evidence” the writer had provided. She was a friend of Harrys the girl the article was about Jess, you didn’t know her well just knew she was at a lot of the parties you had attended with him over the years, the article had spoken about the two of you, your relationship that had been going on for 2 and a half years. The article had quoted a “reliable source” who said that your relationship had been on the rocks over the last couple of months, it was true you and Harry had been fighting more frequently but you’d never have called your relationship on the rocks, there were photos of Harry and Jess leaving a few cafes and restaurants and one from a club. You tried not to let any of this get in your head, he loved you no matter how much you fought, he had always had female friends and you’d never been jealous of them and she was no different they had just ran into a few more photographers than usual. He had always sworn that he would never cheat, but people lied, you’d had your heart broken before by cheaters and you’d promised yourself you’d never allow that to happen to you again.

Your overthinking had been interrupted by him calling your name, you looked up from your computer quickly shutting the lid to see him coming down the stairs.
“ Put a jacket on will yeh we don’t need yeh distracting everyone with your breasts” he hardly looked at you as he commented causing you to cross your arms across your chest suddenly insecure about your outfit. You’d done as he said, in any other situation he’d never say anything about what you wore and if he did you would have told him to back off, but that article was chipping away at your confidence bit by bit. The car was silent and so was the ride up the elevator and you were almost relieved not to have to speak to him, you wanted to question him about the article, it wasn’t unusual to see stuff like this in the papers and your usually just discuss it and move on but tonight he could barley look at you. He had grabbed your hand as you exited the elevator and you pulled away instinctively when you saw your table with Jess sitting there looking perfect and gorgeous, you were thankful for the dull lighting so no one could see the way your fake smile had dropped and been replaced with sadness. You hated it was getting to you this much, that when you had so sit next to Harry with her directly across from you, you felt sick it wasn’t her fault that she had been the target of a cheating article with Harry, but the more your watched the two of them interact the more you saw how they got along so well. The conversation between the group was constant enough that you only had to fake a laugh and give short responses occasionally throughout the night and when Grimmy and Loud sent concerning looks your way you just had to fake yawn to get their attention off you.

You thought you were doing fine at keeping your emotions at bay, from letting jealousy creep into your veins and make you regret your actions, that was until they started a conversation about a nightclub they’d gone to together, but it wasn’t just any nightclub it was where you and Harry had met. The club in discussion was renown for its 80’s and 90’s music nights, you and Harry had met there and it had become your spot and you’d spent most of your anniversaries there rocking out to the classics and to know he had taken her there had shattered your heart into a thousand pieces. You had excused yourself in the middle of your conversation and had made a beeline for the bathrooms a few stray tears making their way down your face. You had walked past the toilets and through the slightly ajar door that lead to the rooftop of the restaurant, you’d allowed yourself to slide down the wall and rest your head against your knees, you willed yourself to stop crying to stop thinking about the article and Harry and Jess and how she was gorgeous and everything you weren’t. The door had opened and out the corner of your eyes seen Harrys familiar shoes walk to where you sat.
“ I just need a minute Harry, Ill be back to keep up appearances soon” your words came out dryly not lifting you head from your knees to look at him, you didn’t need to he would have a scowl on his face like he had whenever he had looked at you today.
“ Is this your rebuttal for the fighting today to just sit at the table like you’re there against your will while everyones trying to have a good time” he spoke his words with anger which made your head snap up and raise your eyebrow at him.
“ Yes of course I live to make your life difficult Harry, didn’t you know?” the sarcasm and annoyance dripped from your words and he had shook his head at you.
“ Yeh know I was really looking to tonight and then you’ve gone and acted like a brat and ruined it” he shook his head again before going to leave the rooftop.
“ Looking forward to seeing Jess you mean” the words hadn’t meant to leave your lips, they were meant to be snarky comment in your head, but now they were out in the open and you couldn’t take them back.
“ what are yeh talkin about” his ignorance or blatant lying infuriated you
“ Don’t act dumb Harry! You took her to our club, where we met and have spent every anniversary, our spot” You had yelled at him this time as you stood up the tears had started again a look of realisation washed over his face.
“ You’re not seriously upset about that are you?” You rolled your eyes at his response and had wanted nothing more to be the brat he accused you of being and throwing a fit and screaming at him.
“ You know what I cant do this here, I’m too tired for this Harry” you sighed a stray tear rolling down your face, you couldn’t look at him without wanting to scream, and you didn’t want to ruin this night anymore than it had already been ruined.

To your surprise he had followed you out to the table and before you could say a thing he had told everyone you weren’t feeling well and he was going to take you home, he left money for the bill and the two of you left without a word. The elevator ride was silent and longer than you had remembered it being on the way up, until it stopped all together with a slight drop and the main lights turned off and emergency lights dully filled the space. You had groaned loudly before repeating the word no about 6 times, you couldn’t be trapped in an elevator while fighting with Harry with no where to escape to when things got to much.
“ Are yeh gonna speak to me now” you turned to face him you could feel the anger slowly fizzing out and all that would remain would be hurt. You just looked at him, the person you fell in love with was there somewhere, underneath the stress and anger of the day your Harry was still there you knew that, and thats what hurt you most that despite knowing he was yours this doubt and scary feeling of betrayal and thoughts that he was cheating filled your mind.
“  Are you cheating with Jess?” the words had slipped out of your mouth as tears poured out your eyes, his facial expression turned from shock to confusion before he looked you in the eyes standing up.
“ Yeh think I’m cheating with Jess?” his words were a mix of hurt and confusion.
“ You took here to our place Harry, there are pap photos of the two of you everywhere, I don’t know what to think” you raised your voice at him a sob leaving your throat as you finished your sentence, you had let your legs collapse into a kneeling position on the floor and allowed yourself to cry harder than you did on the rooftop. Harry had stepped towards you but you had told him no.
“ Baby Im not cheating on yeh, I-I would never, Jess and I are just friends I promise yeh” You had allowed him to get closer and bend down in front of you, still keeping his distance but watching you carefully with his green eyes.
“ I read a stupid article and I believed everything, you’d been so cold to me and we had fought all day and then I saw how well you get along and she’s so pretty” you had worked yourself up so much that hiccups had accompanied your cries, Harry didn’t say anything just wrapped his arms around you before lifting you so you were between his legs your face in his neck. He had shushed you and reassured you for the first half an hour of being stuck in the lift and had you giggling over how stupid the two of you had been for fighting all day for the next 1 and a half hours. You were more than relived when the electricians fixed the problem and you safely exited the elevator, the two of you looked crazy when the doors opened the two of you sitting on the floor your tear streamed smiling face and his white shirt which had black spots from your mascara.

13 Reasons Why (Tape 3)

Characters: sister!reader, Dean, Mary, Sam, John, Cas(mentioned), Jody(mentioned), Claire(mentioned), Alex(mentioned)

Warnings: swearing, angst, mention of death

Word count: 3830

Summary: Mary’s tape hits Dean harder than he expected and he starts to see the people he loves in a different light

Series: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9

Here it was. Tape 3. Ready in the tape player, but Dean just couldn’t bring himself to listen to it… At least not yet.

There were more things that you left behind that he had thought. First of all there were these tapes and how he found out that you left Sam a note. He wasn’t sure when to start reading it, maybe even just looking at your handwriting would have been too heartbreaking for him to see. Even just holding that paper in his hand and knowing that you once held it in your hand was enough to almost make Dean cry. How could he possibly handle reading the letter? The tapes were killing him already, adding more to that would have been too much for him to take in.

He took the tape player with him. It was inside his duffel bag that he had packed ready for the hunt Sam had found them. “You ready to go?” Sam questioned from the passenger seat in the impala.

Dean had been daydreaming this entire time just thinking about the tapes. “Yeah.”

The drive to Tulsa was around 4 to 5 hours long, a car journey that would probably require talking to each other. Dean wasn’t mad at Sam, and it wasn’t that he didn’t want to speak to his brother but everything just felt too tense and awkward after talking about the tapes so much already.

“So, what did you say this hunt was?” Dean questioned after they had been driving for over an hour.

“Well-” Sam started as he pulled out the newspaper from his duffel bag, “-it seems to me like a demon case, but I could be wrong. There’s nothing on here about sulphur so it could be case of ghost possession. But I could be wrong, we’ll see when we get there.“

Dean listened to what Sam said but the words went through one ear and out of the other. He didn’t care about this damn hunt, his mind was on the tapes and he couldn’t stop thinking about them.

“How far are you?” Sam asked. The subject always had to be the tapes, didn’t it?

“Why does it matter? I’m the last one on the tape anyway so I don’t have to pass them on,” Dean replied, keeping his eyes on the road to avoid having to see the judgemental look from his brother.

“Because once you’ve heard them all we can do something about a few of the people on them,” Sam answered as if it was obvious. “Who’s are you up to? Are you on yours?”

“No I’m not on mine!” Dean hissed. He concentrated on the road hard to make sure he looked like he was only focused on driving.

“Then who’s? Have you heard Cas’ tape yet?” Sam questioned which caused Dean to press his foot harshly on the breaks.

“Cas is on the tapes?” He shouted angrily as his look shot to his brother. “Are you fucking kidding me?”’

“Dean, calm-” Sam started to speak but was quickly cut off by Dean’s rage.

“Sammy, I swear if you tell me to calm down.” He shook his head with closed eyes. His voice was steady but angry which was even scarier than when he screamed at Sam.

“Look, I’m sorry, OK?” Sam apologised. “I thought maybe you had listened to a few more.”

“Which tape is Cas’?” Dean asked with his car still pulled over in the middle of an empty highway.

“Ten.”

“Ten?” Dean repeated with a loud voice. “I’m not that far! Why are these tapes so easy for everyone else to listen to? I haven’t even started tape three yet!”

“You’re going slower that everyone else, but it’s only because you care about her,“ Sam concluded.

“What, Cas didn’t?” Dean shot back before starting up the car again. He drove slower this time, he didn’t wanna pull over again when driving so fast.

“Of course he did. He still does, but not many people on the tapes did. Only a few of you cared,” Sam explained. “People like you, and Cas. But then there’s Crowley.”

“Crowley’s a dead man,” Dean snapped. “I mean it, when I see him next I’m gonna torture him for months and then drive Ruby’s knife into his heart so hard that not even Hell will be able to save him from what’s coming.”

“Crowley isn’t the only one you’re going to hate after listening to them,” Sam admitted with a quiet voice. “I know that you’re angry at dad.”

“Angry at him, yes,” Dean repeated, “hate him? No.”

“Look, we know everyone on these tapes and we care about most of them,” Sam explained. “It’s gonna be hard to hear them, because they will change the way you see people. Especially this one.“

“Especially this one? What the hell does that mean?!” Dean demanded.

“I told you, you just have to listen to the-”

“Wait a second,” Dean said, coming to a sudden realisation. “Are these tapes the reason you’re all avoiding going to Jody’s?”

Sam swallowed thickly. He had already said too much by saying that Cas was on the tapes.

“Is Jody on the tapes?!” Dean demanded. “Or… Is it Claire? Or Alex?”

“You need to stop asking questions, listen to the tapes,” Sam finished. No matter what was said now Sam would have ignored him so Dean just didn’t bother to reply.

His thoughts for the rest of the drive were on Jody. It couldn’t be her on the tapes, it must have been Claire or Alex. Maybe it was Claire and Alex… You always did have a bumpy relationship with the two girls. Dean always guessed it was because you were all the same age, but maybe there was more to the story.

Before Dean knew it, they had arrived at the motel and checked in. He wasn’t really paying attention to what he was doing but it was such a natural occurrence it didn’t take much thought.

Once they were checked in they went to the house where the victim had died to ask his wife a few questions. They knocked at the door and were greeted by a woman with tears still streaming down her face.

“I’m Agent Stills, this is Agent Collins,” Sam spoke professionally. “We’d like to ask you a few questions.”

“Of course,” she sniffled as she invited them in.

They sat on the couch opposite her and began to ask the usual questions. The funny smells, cold spots, strange noises and all that. She did say it felt a little chilly when she arrived home. She was at the hospital that day having another pregnancy scan because she was over the due date.

Sam and Dean thought how heartbreaking that must have been for her, having her husband die just before she had their baby.

“We’re very sorry for your loss,” Sam Finished. He passed her his card and told her to call if she had anything else to tell them. Once they were done talking to the wife of the victim, they headed back to the motel.

Dean sat on his bed with his duffel bag on Sam’s bed. He just stared at it knowing that those damn tapes were inside there, ready to be listened to. Sam sat at the table on his laptop doing research for the case. “Dean,” he said, but Dean didn’t answer.

“Hey!” Sam repeated as he threw a screwed up piece of newspaper at his brother. “What are you thinking about?”

“What do you think?” Dean replied without moving his eyes away from the bag.

Sam sighed, “I’m gonna swing by the diner, wanna come with?”

“I think I’ll stay here,” Dean snapped. Once again, his eyes never left the bag. Sam said something before leaving but Dean ignored him just like he had been for most of the day. He couldn’t be bothered to listen to what he had to say, all that mattered was the tapes.

And he repeated it once again, just like a mantra. Pick up the tapes, but the headset on, press play. Your cold voice spoke through the headphones and into Dean’s ears.

“I never realised how much a persons life could be affected just by the opinion of another,” you said to start off the tape. “Sure, there’s that saying that ‘sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me’, but seriously… Words tear our brains apart. Broken bones are just a physical pain that can pass, but our emotions and the way people make us feel stays with us forever.”

* * *

Three days had passed since your mother had died and you hadn’t even seen John or Mary. After you left they took off on the hunt you were looking at in the newspaper and left Sam and Dean behind which meant only they showed up when you called.

When they took you back to the bunker you started to question things in your mind. Dean was 38 and Sam was 34, they were old enough to look after you, so why did they have to live with John? Why couldn’t they kick John and Mary out of the bunker? You knew they were so excited because your dad was back and their mom was back too- but were they really needed?

John and Mary were planning on coming back to the bunker again, still unaware that you had returned. Sam and Dean had no idea how to tell them what had happened so they just waited for them to return.

Your brothers were always so kind to you. As soon as you returned to the bunker they made sure you were ok, they took you to your room to make sure you got some sleep and enough food and water when you woke up. And as annoying as it got, they constantly explained to you how hard this life was and how hard things can be, and that if you really wanted to they could send you to live with a woman they knew called Jody. She had two other girls staying with her, Claire and Alex, and she set them both up at school.

Their offers were kind, they didn’t care about what they wanted, they just wanted you to be happy.

It was around 4pm when John and Mary came home to the bunker. You sat in the library and impatiently waited for them to notice you. You were worried to say the least, the last time you saw John things got really bad. His words hurt you, they would stay with you until the day you died.

* * *

“Hey,” Sam said as he walked through the door with a takeout burger in a box for Dean. “I got you some food.”

Dean paused the tape to listen to his brother. He took it back off again, it was still so hard to listen to.

Sam threw the box to Dean, sat at the table and opened up his laptop. “I’m gonna do some research on the case and this town, can you check out some lore?“

“Sure,” Dean nodded before pulling an old book out to see if any of the descriptions matched the deaths of the victims that had lived in that house over the years. They all died exactly the same way so there must have been some kind of explanation. He ate his burger within minutes, just like he always did. Everything felt like such a rush unless it was hunting.

Hours and hours had passed before they finally came to the conclusion that it was a Pontianak. It was some kind of ghost that died when they were pregnant and went after men with pregnant wives.

The case was all a bit strange, but nonetheless, it was a case. People were dying and it was their job to save them.

Thinking that way broke Dean’s heart because there was only one persons life that he wanted to save… But it was too late for that.

* * *

John and Mary looked at you as they passed Sam and Dean. “Y/N?” John asked. He didn’t seem angry, but not exactly happy either.

“We didn’t want to worry you while you and mom were hunting,” Dean began to explain. “But something bad happened… Y/N’s mom was murdered.”

“What?” Mary gasped. “Sweetheart, I’m so sorry.”

Mary spoke softly to you as she took a seat next to you and rested her hand on your shoulder. “What happened? Did you see anything?”

“No,” you lied with a shake of your head. “She just, I got home and she was dead. The demon attacked me but I didn’t get a good look, it all happened so fast.”

“So, are you moving back here?” John asked.

“I know you don’t want me here,” you looked down. “After what you said-”

“I didn’t mean it, Y/N. I’m sorry that I sent you away,” he apologised. It wasn’t enough that he was sorry for sending you away; you knew that he didn’t love you the same amount that he loved Sam and Dean and that telling you to leave didn’t affect him.

“Sam suggested me going to live with Jody,” you replied as you wiped your tear away quickly. He already thought you weren’t as strong as the rest of them, but you couldn’t show weakness, even if it was one of the hardest moments you ever had to go through.

“I think that’s a great idea,” John agreed. Now you were sure that he meant what he said when he told you to leave. He just wanted to be kind to you right now because you were in pain. For a second, you thought that maybe he was sending you away to protect you, but the thought was quickly pushed to the side when you remembered how angry he was towards you when he kicked you out of the motel.

“Oh, I don’t know if I want to,” you admitted. “I mean, I want to stop the world from having to deal with deaths because of monsters. I know I can never get mine back but I could stop people from losing their mothers and that’s enough for me. I want to continue hunting,” you spoke with a strong voice as you stood from your chair. “You’re all good hunters, you can teach me.”

Dean smiled. He loved seeing this side of you, you took charge and told them what was happening. No more crap about, ‘maybe next time’ or ‘you need a different life’. If you wanted a different life you would have taken it but this was your decision. Not John’s or Mary’s or Sam’s or Dean’s. It was time for you to make your own decisions.

* * *

Sam and Dean decided to check the house out at night. The woman had gone into hospital to give birth and the boys wanted to go back to the house and kill the Pontianak. They figured the house being empty would be a good opportunity to get the job done.

Dean went inside first, his flashlight stopped working the second he set foot in the living room. From their research they knew who the Pontianak was, they just didn’t know where she was buried. The Pontianak was once a woman called Jane White that lived in the house hundreds of years ago. They figured there would be something that would tell them where she was buried.

* * *

A few months had passed since you moved back into the bunker and things were going well. John seemed to adapt to you being around and although you still knew he didn’t like you, it was something you had to move past.

You sometimes had those moments where you would share a father/daughter bond, and in those times you felt happy. But afterwards you would just remember what it was really like and that you just had to keep a work relationship.

The boys were still the boys. Very loving and very protective, but you could also mess around, laugh and actually have some kind of relationship with them. There were a few snappy moments here and there but apart from that things were fine. They were going great.

But as soon as things got better, they got worse once again.

* * *

Sam checked down in the basement for clues while Dean stayed in the living room and waited for her to show. He put salt on all the windows and doors.

He felt a sudden chill as she appeared in the living room

“Dean,” Sam shouted up the stairs. “She’s buried in the basement, I just have to break through this wall.”

“Hurry, Sammy,” Dean replied as he picked up his gun and shot the Pontianak with rock salt.

The hunt was fairly simple. Sam burned the body, the spirit was gone and no one else had to die. The next day they packed up their things, got in the impala and drove off back home to the bunker.

The hunt wasn’t enough for Dean. He really wanted something he could stab, shoot, fight or punch. Dean needed to let go of all his rage and hunting seemed like the only way… He needed something bigger than this.

Sam was still tired on the way home and ended up falling asleep, so Dean continued with the tape while he was driving.

* * *

It was around 9AM on a Monday morning when you came into the bunker kitchen. You heard yelling on your way down and wondered what the hell was going on. No one had argued for a while, maybe it was just something that needed to happen.

“She has to go!” You heard John shout. You felt a twinge of panic in your stomach as he spoke, you really thought things between you and John were getting better.

“I thought you were past this, dad!” Sam yelled. “Christ, what is your problem?”

“Your mom doesn’t want her here either. It makes her uncomfortable to know that Y/N’s my child but not hers,” John revealed.

* * *

“Welcome to your tape, Mary.”

Dean, once again, was shocked by what he had heard on this tape. Mary was involved? She was uncomfortable with you living with them? Dean always thought that Mary loved you like the daughter she never had. He always thought that, to her, you were one of the Winchesters. That was another misjudgment he had made about his family. Where do their loyalties lie? Can he really trust them?

* * *

You didn’t want to hear anymore, so you stepped into the kitchen. Sam’s eyes shot to you and John followed. “Y/N…” John spoke.

“Thank you for being honest,” you simply replied. “I’m glad I know where we stand. John.”

“Wait,” he tried to explain but you had already wondered off. This was all probably just a misunderstanding. Maybe Mary always wanted a daughter and she was upset that you weren’t really hers. She was such a kind woman from what you knew, she comforted you when you lost your mom and treated you so well. You wanted to make her feel like she didn’t have to be uncomfortable with you.

“Mary,” you smiled as you stepped into the library.

“Oh,” she replied with tense shoulders. “Hi, Y/N.”

“So, listen. John told me that you feel uncomfortable with me around because I’m not your daughter,” you said, getting straight to the point. You folded your arms and Mary looked shocked at your words. “I’m not mad. But Mary, I see you like a mother. You’re not just Sam and Dean’s mom, you’re mine too.”

You stood there for a second and waited for her reaction. You didn’t know what to expect yet what she did still surprised you. She laughed.

“Oh, Y/N,” she continued to laugh. “You think I want you to be my daughter?”

“What?” You questioned as you unfolded your arms and dropped them to your sides. “Mary-”

“Thank you for that, I really needed that,” she replied with her final laugh. “You see, I’m not uncomfortable with you because I wish you were my daughter. I’m uncomfortable to know that you are John’s mistake. He didn’t love your mother… He only slept with her because I was dead.”

Her words hit you. You never expected her to say anything like this. You wanted to reply but you were frozen in shock.

“So,” she continued as she stood up and spoke so close to your face that you could feel her breath. “Sam and Dean are my children and John is my husband. I don’t need you coming in and messing up my family. You can stay, I can’t make you go, but don’t think for a second that you are my daughter, you never will be. You’d be better off dead.”

* * *

“I don’t remember everything that you said, but a lot of it stayed with me. I remember you saying that I’m not a really Winchester and that I messed up your family. I remember you calling me ‘John’s mistake’. But the thing that hurt me most was when you said that I’m not your daughter and I never will be, that I would be better off dead.”

If only there was a way to explain how angry Dean was. How could Mary say that to you? How could she make you feel so worthless? To tell you that you were better off dead could have been the first thing to give you the idea that death was an option.

“My message in this, ladies and gentlemen, is to be careful what you say to people. To you it may seem like you’re just getting your point across, but to the person on the other end it could quite literally feel like the end of their world. Mary, I want you to know how badly that scarred me, how much it hurt to know that a few months after I lost my real mother, the closest thing I had to one didn’t love me. You never wanted me, and that’s when I began to feel like I didn’t belong anymore.”

That was it. The end of tape 3. This changed the way Dean felt about everyone on there. He was furious with his dad, he was ready to kill Crowley, and when he next say Mary- well, he’s not going to keep his feelings to himself.

It seemed so unlike Mary to say anything like that. There must have been a reason. Something must have happened to cause her to act that way. But that didn’t matter to Dean, all he knew was that she said it and it was way out of line.

But, then again, she should have thought about that before she became one of the reasons why.

Bra's

Request: Could you do an imagine of tom wearing the readers bra (for comedy purposes of course) when he thinks the reader isn’t home?

Note: it’s short but I hope you still like it

,,Tom?“ You ask with furrowed eyebrows. In your arms two big bags from the grocery shopping you just did.
You walk into your kitchen und put them on the counter before walking into the living room, just to find it empty.
You call Tom again but get no response.
You decide to check for him in your shared bedroom and walk up the stairs, not making a sound in case he is sleeping. You carefully open the door and stop in your tracks, a muffled laugh escaping your lips.
,,What are you doing?” You rest your hands on your hips and watch your boyfriend turn around, in nothing more than a pair of boxers and one of your bras.
,,Y/N you’re home?“ Tom says, eyes wide in shock while he fumbles with the end of your bra to get it off.
You step into the room and observe him. His cheeks have a rosy kind of red and his eyes never leave yours, his chest rising and lowering fast.
,,Yes, I told you I’d just get some stuff from the store. What are you doing anyways?” Your laugh turns into a big grin and Tom shrugs his shoulders, one of the bra straps sliding off and stopping above his biceps.
,,I, uhm-“ he stretches the back of his neck and you try to hide your smile, loving the picture in front of you.
,,You once told me that some bras are pretty uncomfortable and I wanted to see if it’s true. I know it sounds stupid but I couldn’t stop thinking about it.” He finally manages to open the bra and strips it off, kicking it into a corner of the room.
,,You remember that?“ You sit down on your bed and hand Tom his shirt, which he takes gratefully. He lays it on the wardrobe next to him and turns back to you.
,,Yeah, why shouldn’t I?” His thick accent makes the whole situation just cuter and you sigh with adoration.
,,I told you that months ago, when I was drunk. In the middle of the night. And you’re really remembering that.“ You laugh while shaking your head, flashbacks from the night playing in your mind.
,,I remember almost everything you tell me.” Tom holds his hands up in Defense and you tilt your head, eyes focusing on something behind him.
,,Did you try all of my bras on?“ You ask confused, a small mountain of bras laying on the ground behind Tom.
,,Maybe ” Tom lets out a shaky laugh and blushes even more, feeling caught.
,,Which one do you like the most?“ You ask suspiciously while laying on your back, staring at the ceiling.
,,I don’t know, they all feel the same to me.” Tom admits, his shy smile slowly turning into a grin as he realises that you don’t judge him.
,,I like the black one the most.“ You point to a black lace bra and Tom smirks, picking it up.
,,Yeah, I like that one too.” He winks and you carefully throw a pillow at him, hitting his head.
,,Hey! I think it looks really nice on you.“ He weighs the bra in his hands and you ignore his comment, just watching your boyfriend as he continues to play with the fabric.
,,Can you put it on?” You ask without thinking.
Tom gives you a weird look but doesn’t hesitate to wrap it around his torso, closing it in front before turning it to the back and wrapping his arms threw the straps.
You laugh and throw your head back, eyes closed from laughing so much.
The cups stick out from his chest and cover his muscles while the straps are too small and dig into his skin.
,,Do I look good?“ Tom asks while wiggling his eyebrows. He slowly approaches you and let himself sink on top of you, your head trapped between his elbows.
,,You look fantastic.” You joke back, nails ghosting over his skin.
,,Oh you think so?“ His thumb draws small circles on your cheek and you lean into his touch, hands roaming over his torso.
,,Yep, but I think you look even better without one.” You try to unclip the bra from his back and fumble with the clasp, failing miserably.
Tom hides his face in the back of your neck and you giggle as he leaves wet kisses all along your skin.
,,I can’t get it off.“ You moan frustrated before pulling on it, just to let it smack back against his skin.
,,Don’t smack me, I’m sensitive.” Tom says laughing as he removes his arms and his full weight lays on top of you, a gasp leaving your body.
He wiggles himself out of the bra before laying half of his body weight on his arms again.
,,So where were we?“ He whispers smirking, carefully biting the skin above your collarbone to make you shiver.
,,Tom don’t tease me.” You whine, your nails trailing over every single muscle from his toned back.
,,Impatient much?“ His lips are just inches apart from yours and you take the chance to wrap your arms around his neck and pull him down to a kiss.
Your lips smash against his and your fingers twist the curly hair on top of his head while sucking on his lower lip.
You feel him relaxing under your touch and his hands roaming over your body, almost forgetting the situation from before.
After some time you pull away and start to trail kisses along his jaw to his neck, nibbling on the skin.
,,Y/N.” Tom breathes between kisses.
,,Hmm?“ You hum, not stopping your movements.
,,Can you promise me one thing?” He mumbles against your skin. You just nod and hope it’s nothing big, not wanting to stop now.
,,Don’t tell Harrison that I tried your bras on. He won’t stop to make jokes.“
You pull away from him and you two lock eyes, heavy breathing filling the room.
,,Believe me, we don’t need Harrison for that.”

stydia youtube au?

I probably need to watch more youtubers and i need someone to write a better fic

  • Lydia started as a fashion and makeup blogger. It’ll look good on college applications and she’s worked out a formula for maximum success and minimal effort.
  • She doesn’t calculate for how much she enjoys it. And certainly not for just how popular her channel is.
  • Stiles starts making youtube videos for no real reason. He like’s being the comedian and he likes the outlet for his energy. He’s not that focused on the follower count till he wakes up one morning and notices he’s passed the 500K mark.
  • Lydia goes to vidcon. She and Kira go and they spend the day wondering around the convention (videoing like everyone else) and just enjoying the day. At the end Lydia take’s the most impeccable selfie of Kira and her in front of the vidcon sign and posts it.
  • it’s only later when she’s checking her comments that there’s hundreds of comments saying “😂 😂 😂  @PointlessStiles and @Scott_11 in the backgroundso she checks back on her photo and sure enough there’s two boys around her age pulling stupid faces in the background of her photo.
  • She obviously check out the accounts and quickly realises he’s already following her and Kira already. He’s a youtuber too. And a good one judging by the number of followers he has.
  • When Stiles get’s the notification he has to sit down. “@Lyds_Martin started following you”. Stiles doesn’t encourage internet stalking but he’s been mildly stalking this girl for a while. When he’s seen her taking a selfie in the main entrance hall with Kira(Scott’s gaming partner) he couldn’t help himself.
  • But vidcon is over for another year so there’s no chance to see her again. Instead he does what any normal Millennium would do. He starts building an online friendship with her.
  • Lydia notices Stiles likes across her social media platforms. She’s followed both him and Scott across all social media and realised that they have a lot of friends in common she’s just…never noticed before. So she starts liking his things back.
  • It just escalates from there. Liking each other posts. Retweeting each other. Eventually leaving comments and emojis on each others posts.

 @PointlessStiles Fierce af 🔥”
@Lyds_Martin 😂 how many times did you film this “
@PointlessStiles Brains and Beauty 👓📚 “
@Lyds_Martin you look good in plaid”

  • Stiles does his next youtube video with a cast on his arm and Lydia watches with concern. She moves over to twitter and sends him a message. He replies pretty quickly and tells her he’s fine. Not even a break. And they just….keep talking.
  • Lydia finds out he’s planning to go to Boston U, right next door to her. He’s friends with Allison through Scott and thats how he knew who she was. She tell’s him about MIT and the riemann hypothesis. They talk about everything and anything. Eventually they exchange phone numbers and keep talking on there.
  • Her comments on his posts always get a fair few likes but suddenly they’re getting replies by the hundreds all with the same word “STDYIA 😱 ❤️” In some format. She searches it on tumblr and realises it’s people shipping her and stiles together.
  • It’s kind of creepy but mostly harmless. Lydia tries to push it to the back of her mind but she’s starting to realises how much she thinks about Stiles and how much she likes him. It’s kind of hard to ignore other people noticing their chemistry too.
  • And then suddenly it’s time for vidcon again. It seems natural with all of them being friends to meet up. Lydia’s stomach is flipping. It’s ridiculous. She meets plenty of new people all the time and never feels like this.
  • Stiles waits with Scott and Allison in the entrance lobby. He’s full of nervous energy and Allison keeps smiling at him knowingly. When he see’s the glint of strawberry Blonde hair making her way across the room he smiles brightly.
  • Lydia hugs Allison first but then moves straight to Stiles. He holds out his arms and she moves into them quickly. She breathes a hey into his neck.
  • They spend the rest of the day wandering around. Kira’s on a “women online” panel and they go to support her. Lydia finds herself sticking by Stiles. She like’s his insight into the vlogging world and the fact that between his laidback attitude is a smart, well planned business plan.
  • They both get stopped more then once for a selfie and it’s the first time Lydia’s ever felt like her channel actually reaches real life people. Stiles seems to sense her slightly forced smile and puts a hand on her back to help her relax.
  • When they’re walking back to their hotel, behind the rest of the group Lydia takes a breath and grabs Stiles hand in her own. He looks down at her and smiles gently.
  • He kisses her before they all leave. It’s soft and gently and Lydia wants to do it again. In just a few months they’ll both be in Boston and she’ll have plenty of opportunities to do just that.
  • Later that day Allison DM’s her a photo. She blushes at it and sends a message to stiles for his approval.
  • She get’s a record number of likes and comments when she drops the photo of her and Stiles kissing on instagram, with the caption “Stydia💕 “
BTS Reacts to you flinching during an argument

Jin

You’d both started arguing over something trivial, but Jin’s habit of being dramatic meant he was making a bigger deal out of it than it should have been. He notices your reaction as soon as he makes an exaggerated gesture, flinging his arm out, and you flinch away in response. You moves out of your space immediately, all of the anger taken out of him. “I’m sorry,” he would say, “But I want you to know that I’ll never hurt you.” He would take you out for dinner as an apology, and you appreciate his sincerity in respecting your reaction.

Suga

Suga didn’t get angry easily, but when he did, he had a nasty habit of projecting his own insecurities onto the person he was angry with. With it being you, you’re a lot more affected by his harsh words and mean tone of voice. You would flinch, though it was an instant reaction to a particular comment he makes, and suddenly you’re hearing those words from him and someone else as a painful memory plays in your mind. Suga would see how close to tears you were, and feel suddenly drained and guilty. “I didn’t mean any of that. Please forgive me.” The next day he would spend his time at the studio, feeling guilty, and message you constantly to apologize and check that you were okay.

J-Hope

The argument between the two of you had escalated, but it still shocks you when Hosoeok raises his voice, shouting at you aggressively. It’s the way his voice deepens, and the cold look in his eyes that makes you tense up completely. Your chest feels tight and you turn away, suddenly shaking. There’s a moment of tense silence, and he only realises what he’s done once he sees you shiver, eyes darting to the floor. “Did - Did I scare you? I didn’t mean to shout, I’m sorry Y/N.” You stand still as he slowly walks up to you, wrapping his arms around you and gently rubbing your back. “Let’s not fight again, okay? It’s not worth it.”

Namjoon tries to rationalize arguments and find other ways of communicating, but this time he was in a terrible mood and couldn’t think to care about the consequences of fighting. While getting caught up in yelling as he stomped about the room, while you stood tense and stalwart in the centre, he accidentally knocked a lamp over. You couldn’t hold back your loud gasp of fright as the lightbulb smashed on the ground. He swore as he looked at the mess of glass, and again at your terrified face and teary eyes. Stepping gingerly around the broken glass, Namjoon reached to hold your hand, wiping a falling tear from your face. He hadn’t noticed how upset you were, and was mentally berating himself for trying to get a reaction out of you earlier. “I’m so sorry baby. I’ll clean up the mess okay? Yours, and mine.”

Jimin

After slamming a door too hard after an argument had led to an outburst from you, begging Jimin not to be so loud, he realised how frightened you were of loud noises. Though he didn’t want to pry too far, he wanted to understand why it scared you, and if there were any other problems you had that he could eliminate from your relationship. You spend time together talking about where your fears stem from, Jimin listening patiently, and he promises to understand as best as he can so he can prevent doing anything that will make you upset in the future.

V

The two of you were walking down a street, having just gone out with the other members, and were arguing over Taehyung having ignored you for most of the night, albeit without realising. V hadn’t realised how upset you were until he turned around from where he was walking in front of you, and saw you flinch back from him. He stops, taking in your subdued posture and the way your arms are crossed against your chest. “Y/N… are you scared of me?” “Of course I am!” you reply, “Why wouldn’t I be when you get angry at me, when you’ve drunk too much and start yelling?” He looks into your eyes and sees your confusion and fear, and feels terrible. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry, I should have known better.” He takes his coat off to cover your bare shoulders, warming you instantly, and holds your hand for the rest of the way home.

Jungkook

Jungkook was so shocked when you started crying during your argument, and had no idea what to do when you then ran away to hide in your room. He left the house, walking the streets as he thought over everything that had just happened, considering the shocked look on your face before you started crying, when he had, in a fit of anger, slammed his hand on the wall so hard the noise echoed around the house. He cringed at his own behaviour, not blaming you for being upset. He gave you some time to yourself as he got his own thoughts in order, and came back once he had calmed down. He knocked on your door, a bouquet of roses in his hand, and apologised.

Happy AkuRoku Day! ♥ I actually wrote a completed one-shot for you guys this time! All fluff and afterlife feelings, so I hope you enjoy!

They didn’t go out and watch the latest superhero movie. They didn’t make a reservation at that one restaurant they both like, which didn’t always have the best entrees but always had a decent bread basket and that sea salt cheesecake they could never say no to. They didn’t do anything the couples magazines told them to do–flowers, jewelry, scented candles, a new dress and suit, some ludicrously expensive gold-leaf and champagne infused candy from that one store that opened downtown.

They were both thankful for that.

NCT 127 Reaction to their crush falling asleep on them.

Taeyong

Taeyong could tell you were sleepy from the moment you arrived at the dorms, so he was expecting you to perhaps drift off. What he didn’t expect was you curling up on the sofa, your head in his lap as you fell to sleep. He would feel so awkward, his eyes would go huge and round and he’d just look around for some sort of help, but he’d quickly realise his moving around might wake you up so he’d settle down quickly to keep from waking you up. I think he’d tentatively put his hand your shoulder or back, being really gentle to keep from waking you, and he’d move his thumb back and forth slowly in that really gentle, soothing way. When you woke up from your nap he wouldn’t comment on it in case you felt awkward, he’d just offer you some juice or something with a small smile on his face.

Taeil

The moment your head dipped onto Taeil’s shoulder he would go still instantly. Were you trying to cuddle? Was he supposed to like… hold your hand? He’d be so nervous, he would just keep watching the tv, his heart rate slowly picking up and a nervous sweat breaking out on his skin. When your jaw slacked and you let out a sudden snore he would jump, startled, but would quickly place a hand on your head to hold you in place. He’d be silently praying he hadn’t woken you up with his little jump. When you didn’t react he would settle down quickly. Now he was looking at your face he could see how peaceful you looked. He’d smile gently and begin to run his hands over your hair, just relishing in being so close to you. After a few minutes he’d turn back to the tv and go back to watching the show, his head dipping to rest on top of your head.

Johnny

You had spent an amazing day at the beach with Johnny, running around on the sand and splashing in the sea. You had both collapsed in your seats on the train and were slowly pecking your way through a bag of chips when you fell to sleep, your head resting on the back of your seat. The moment Johnny noticed he would snicker and turn to you, pulling out his phone to snap a few photos. When the train lurched you rolled to the side. You were now fast asleep on Johnny’s chest, with him in a very awkward leg position he couldn’t keep up for the long train journey home. He lifted your head slowly and quickly swivelled in his seat so he was sitting normally, but as he congratulated himself on a smooth movement he forgot he was holding you up and your head thwacked down onto his shoulder. He froze on the spot, terrified he had woken you, but you were so tired you just slept on happily. Johnny would snap a quick photo to show to the boys later, he would brag to anyone who listened, but otherwise he wouldn’t act very differently, he’d just sit on his phone.

Yuta

When Yuta had promised you dance lessons you had been a bit nervous, because you didn’t have the best rhythm in the world and Yuta was an amazing dancer. But he was actually a really good teacher and you found yourself working hard and having a lot of fun. When you told Yuta you needed a bit of a break he took you to the corner of the dance studio to have a water break. Yuta was watching the other boys dancing, giving them tips, but you could feel your head dipping slowly, you had been dancing so hard and you were exhausted. Knowing you couldn’t stay awake much longer you curled up on your side, deciding to take a nap.  As soon as Yuta realised what you were doing a pang of nervousness would run through him. He’d swallow back the nerves and tut at you, telling you to come and rest on his lap because the floor was too hard. So you found yourself napping with your head on Yuta’s lap, the other boys glancing at the two of you. Each time Yuta’s smirk would grow and he’d shoot the boys a thumb up. But actually, he was super nervous to have you so close, he just couldn’t miss the opportunity for a bit of physical contact with you.

Doyoung

The two of you had been watching films together when you fell asleep, your head resting on his shoulder. Doyoung was so wrapped up watching Harry Potter fight a dragon he didn’t even notice for a while. But then he’d look down at you, wondering why you had gotten so quiet, and his eyes would bulge out of his head. He’d instantly start telling himself off, he could have woken you so easily, it was honestly great you were such a heavy sleeper or he never would have forgive himself. He would stare at you, just admiring how gentle you looked all curled up, your cheeks a little puffy, your face relaxed. He’d have a huge smile on his face, because seeing you looking so sweet was so lovely to him and you were making him feel so soft. He’d pull the blanket draped over your legs around your arms to keep you warm and then he’d turn back to the movie, but he’d be unable to remove that massive grin from his face and he’d peak down at you every few minutes just to check if you had gotten any cuter (he didn’t that it was possible.)

Jaehyun

When Jaehyun noticed that you had fallen to sleep on his lap he would straight up start giggling. He was kinda nervous because you were on his lap and he wasn’t quite sure what to do. He’d just kinda stare at you open mouthed, drooling a bit, and he wouldn’t be able to stop laughing. He’d grab his phone and video call Taeil to be like “Hyung look!” and then Taeil would tell him to stop being stupid and then he’d hang up. So then Jaehyun would message Winwin and Winwin being the cheeky shit he is would tell him to start moving your hair and poking your face. So Jaehyun would just start poking your cheeks, he wouldn’t even noticed when you woke up. One moment you were asleep, the next you were staring at him. He’d instantly start apologising because he’d realise straight away he’d been acting like an idiot, so as you sat up he’d just keep apologising. He’d pull you into a hug and he’d hold you there until you fell asleep on his chest. He’d keep his arms tight around you to keep you comfortable to make up for waking you up. He’d have an affectionate little smile on his face when he thought of how comfortable you were around each other.

Winwin

You and Winwin had been studying together, trying to keep up with all of your work. You were on the sofa, on your back, trying to read over your notes to memorise them whilst Winwin was sat on the floor, his books and notes sprawled around him. You were so comfortable in the warm dorm, you just couldn’t focus on your work and you quickly drifted off. You would roll in your sleep, bringing you to the edge of the sofa, and your arm would flop down to rest over Winwin’s shoulder, your hand on his chest. He would jump out of his skin, like he’d be so shook. He’d look up super slowly, not knowing if you were awake. When he saw that you were asleep he’d just pause and smile, his whole face crumpling up with a big ass smile at how cute you were. He’d try and turn back to his notes to keep working but he just couldn’t focus with your hand on his chest, so he’d lean back so your heads were close together on the sofa and he’d just close his eyes and lie there happily.

Mark

Mark is super freaking busy so I think any chance you got to chill together would end up in him sleeping. You went round for a movie marathon but twenty minutes in he was asleep on your shoulder. It was super comfy curled up on the sofa, and you quickly fell asleep too, your head resting on his head. He’d wake up randomly feeling disoriented with his head on one side and he’d sit straight up. You slumped over with his sudden movement and wake with a yell, and soon it’d just be the two of you screaming at each other, both feeling completely dazed and confused. When you both realised what had happened he would start stuttering an apology. After you assured him it was fine you’d settle down to watch the movie, still laughing at eachothers silly reaction, but he would just be sat there the whole time ignoring the film. His cheeks were burning so much, he couldn’t believe he had fallen asleep on you like that. And you had slept on him too! He would be lowkey wondering if he could pretend to fall asleep again so that he could lie on your shoulder again.

Haechan

It was super late and you and Haechan were having a catch up in his bed, you were just lying next to each other, muttering quietly between yourselves about your week and just random things that came to mind. But Haechan wasn’t really focussing; he was actually feeling super nervous. You were right there next to him, and he couldn’t stop thinking about holding your hand. He would be so nervous thinking about it that he wouldn’t notice when you went quiet. He’d decide to test the waters and just move his arm so your arms were touching. When he glanced down to see your reaction and found you asleep he’d feel an escape of tension in his chest. On the one hand he was glad you were asleep because you couldn’t react badly, but he REALLY wanted to see if you would have liked having him touch your arm. He’d just kinda end up staring at you, because he was usually wayyyy too nervous to look at you for this long. He’d end up just drifting off to sleep whilst watching you, a content little smile on his face.

Bellamy Blake Imagine: Too Stubborn

Requested

Prompt: 26-”Come over here and make me.”,
12-”Quit it or I’ll bite.”

Summary: Bellamy and reader have feelings for each other, but are too stubborn to admit it so they instead keep pissing each other. However Octavia and Clarke wouldn’t just let it go and send them on a mission hoping it would force them to admit what they feel for each other.

Y/N’s POV

“Put it down before you hurt yourself,” I rolled my eyes at the sound of Bellamy’s voice in which I could practically hear him smirking.

“Shut up before I hurt you,” I retorted not bothering to look at him because I knew exactly what I would find, him standing there with folded arms and amused look on his face.
