  • say “he did his best”

Let’s talk for a second how in ‘The Final Problem’ when Mycroft was about to face off with a clown, how not only does his umbrella turn into a sword, but he saluted said Clown as if it were a proper match.

More fucky things...

Where was Ben’s 20 page monologue they were so excited for during comicon?

Where was the scene Martin was uncomfortable to film, and had to do it alone? (it wasn’t Mary’s death scene cause other actors were present)

Why was John typing into a jpg file about a baby that wasn’t born yet?

Why did Lady Smallwood’s name change from Elizabeth to Alicia?

Why in the hell did Mycroft let his sister who he KNOWS is a manipulative genius psychopath talk to another  manipulative genius psychopath?

Why all the water imagery that was never followed up on?

Why the glowing, sometimes black, skull painting?

Why constantly build Mary up as a villain, then have a half-arsed redemption arch?

Why WHY do that Molly Hooper?

Why think a secret sibling would be ‘history making’ when it’s an over used, soap opera level trope?

Why would Amanda say an actor playing more than one character would be ‘ground breaking’ when orphan black, vampire dairies, Tyler Perry’s movies and soooo many others do the same thing?

Something has to be up, this makes NO sense.

Edit: ALSO why this: “ Doesn’t matter who you really are” and “I know who you are” and “its about the legend and stories” When they’ve said OVER AND OVER it’s not a detective show, it’s a show about a detective???

@abouthetwofthem added some great points, so I’ll add them here so we can see!

Also, WHY don’t we know anything about John’s letter, or Sherlock’s recurring dream yet?

WHY did they introduce Hopkins, if she only had a secondary role in the first episode?

WHY did they make a reference to Irene Adler in TLD?

WHY did they credit Henry Knight’s actor and Irene’s actress if the first didn’t appear at all and the second was just mentioned?

WHY did they spread fake rumors about Colin Morgan being in the show and fake pictures of “young Mycroft” ’s actor (don’t know if you remember this, he was thin and had big ears)?

WHY did they use Eurus’ metaphor of the “little girl on the plane” in such a twisted way? How could she be the little girl and herself at the same time?

And WHY “it’s all about the wallpaper”?

“So Doctor Watson will move in again?”

“Yes. He will.”

“With his daughter.”

“Rosie. Yes.”

Mycroft nods. He clears his throat and leans back in the armchair.
“Good. At least there will be someone here to keep an eye on you again. Even I can’t be everywhere.”

Sherlock snorts. He stands up abruptly and walks to the window. Turns his back to Mycroft, who suddenly wishes, he wouldn’t have said those last words.
But it’s part of the pattern, that built up between them over the years.
It’s difficult to escape this pattern, even when he wants to. Like now.

He worries about Sherlock.
He can see that his brother is still withdrawing. Can see it in his red rimmed, tired eyes, his gray skin and his slightly shaking hands. He knows the signs too well.

There’s a lot of anger too. Mycroft can’t believe that Sherlock did drugs again. So many drugs that he almost destroyed his body with it. Just for … Well, for John Watson. Business as usual, wasn’t it?
The events revived a lot of old memories.

Mycroft sighs.
He looks at Sherlock’s back. Before he can really think about it, the words have already left his mouth.
“How are you?”

Sherlock shrugs slightly. If he’s surprised by the question, he doesn’t show it.
“I could be worse,” he says quietly.

Yes, Mycroft thinks wearily. He could be worse. That’s true.
They’ve seen worse. Much worse.

“Tell me, if you need more painkillers,” he says and stands up. He grabs his umbrella. “I will send Anthea …”

Sherlock doesn’t answer. He just stands there in front of the window and stares into the beginning sunset.

Mycroft takes a last look at him and then makes his way to the door.

Suddenly Sherlock quietly says, “Thank you”

“What?” Mycroft makes in surprise. His hand, which was already reaching for the door knob, freezes in the air.

“I never really said thank you,” Sherlock says and finally turns around to look at Mycroft. “For what you did in Serbia. For getting me out.”

Mycroft swallows.
Where did this come from? Why now?

He manages a thin smile. “Well. You’re at least moderately clever. Maybe you wouldn’t have needed me after all.”

“No. I would have died there,” Sherlock says seriously, and the words make Mycroft shiver slightly.

Yes. Sherlock would have died there. And Mycroft doesn’t want to think about this scenario. Living in the past is not his style.

For a moment, there’s silence between them. But this time, it’s not an uncomfortable silence.
Sherlock breaks it eventually. “There are words one should say, before it’s too late,” he says quietly. Then he turns around, to the window again and adds, more briskly, “Now go. I bet there’s a war you have to prevent from happening.”

Mycroft’s smile widens. “Actually, yes. There is one.” He opens the door and makes a step forward. Then he stops again. He hesitates.
Maybe it’s still too early for this.
Maybe …
Screw it.

“How about tea on Friday? There’s a place I know, where you can get the pastry you used to devour as a child,” he says, deliberately casually.
He nearly holds his breath, as he waits for Sherlock’s answer.

For a moment, Sherlock says nothing. He continues to stare outside the window, his hands folded behind his back. But then he shrugs and says, “Why not.”

Mycroft smiles. “Great. Goodbye, brother mine.”

“Goodbye, Mycroft.”

When Mycroft leaves the flat, he has the feeling that he at least made a tiny step out of their pattern. And so did Sherlock.
And that’s a good thing, isn’t it?

The Elephant in the Room

Guys. It’s been staring at us, in plain sight. The elephant in the room is “we had one night.” But Sherlock and John’s love remained unspoken because 1) neither Sherlock nor John thought their love for the other was requited after that night; 2) Sherlock believed falling in love with John cost Mycroft Bond Air.

Somewhere along the way, Sherlock became unsure if that one-night had happened at all. The night he loved and was loved by John in every way imaginable.

It all happened during ASiB. The clues can be found on John’s blog first, with The Woman as a disguise; then, the show itself. Let me walk you through the…… devastation.

I had thought this meant there were missing pieces about the confrontation between Sherlock, Mycroft and Irene Adler at the end of ASiB – we all saw what happened, but John couldn’t blog about it due to Official Secrets Act. Odd, isn’t it? But it was never about Irene Adler; it was always about Sherlock and John. The comments provided clues.

Room. Fancy. Revolver. John’s starving. Sherlock would love some… brunch. They missed brunch, but Ms. Hudson was able to feed them lunch after all. Sherlock thought it was incredibly tedious to talk in codes because of some ridiculous law thing. Cake… may be death in S4, but it was sex first.

The Elephant in the Room post is smoke and mirrors, but Sherlock’s comments were very telling. Go look. I’m going to give you evidence from the show itself now. Let’s starting with ASiB:

Sherlock knew he was in love with John since… probably the end of ASiP. But ASiB was where he (mistakenly) came to realize that caring is not an advantage and John likely didn’t feel the same.

After TGG Sherlock thought they were getting somewhere; but by Christmas, they were still stuck in 1895. Sherlock was so jealous of John’s strings of girlfriends he took it out on Molly (the Christmas party deduction was about himself). But, later on, during Irene Adler’s “fake death” period, Sherlock and John ended up spending one night together. But in the end it cost Mycroft Bond Air - Sherlock was able to say everything in the scene above with certainty and vehement because he was speaking from… experience.

The one night was likely before this:

The reappearance of Irene Adler and the scenes that followed… led to John and Sherlock each had their moment of confusion:

They both thought they were… together, like, together; but after seeing the exchange between Sherlock and Irene, John likely thought he was just a placeholder (yes Irene was flirting but Sherlock was completely oblivious which John couldn’t tell for some reason). The whole Hemish baby name thing flew over Sherlock’s head but he did notice that John was… confused and unhappy. Mycroft was right, in a way:

The 007 deduction was Sherlock’s desperate attempt to show off – for John’s benefit. Sadly, John missed it completely and likely thought Sherlock was trying to impress Irene Adler.

Sherlock and John’s one-night gave context to the exchange between John and Mycroft at Speedy’s:

Translation: I know Sherlock is gay because I had sex with him. But he doesn’t love me or Irene Adler for that matter. I don’t think.

Which prompt Mycroft’s question about Sherlock’s heart; he thought John would have the answer given the new… status. In the end, Mycroft settled with letting John know that he was well aware of the fact that they’ve been busy, and when the “one-night” happened:

(You can see John visibly “gulp” in this scene)

After Sherlock’s return, the memory of that one-night became… unreliable.

Tessa’s dinner with a ghost could’ve been a callback to ASiP, but the editing is telling a very different story:

You can go back to watch it – despite the way the subtitle appears, the first scene cut exactly at the end of “one night”, and the second scene came in right before “dinner.” The way Sherlock and John reacted in the scene suggested they both remember their own one-night. Somewhat, under the drunken haze.

HLV rolled around, everything went sideways quickly. But again, that one-night provided a very different emotional context to all that happened.

Which brings me to TLD, Sherlock began to remember:

It wasn’t Faith. It was The Lady in Red John.

Not convinced? Ghost has the answer – emotional context again!!

Because just moments before, this:

The revolver. A callback to Sherlock’s last comment on John’s blog post.

I’m going to leave you with the following for now, cause I’m exhasted; this is the reason we are given TFP, emotional context, remember?

(Y/N) was sitting on the table, with her arms around Sherlock’s shoulders and her legs framing his hips. The consultant detective was kissing her; small pecks at a time, almost shyly, as she giggled at every idiotic joke he invented along the way. It was one of those moments of intimacy that they actually enjoyed.

John was with Mary, Mrs. Hudson was out at the market and the past case had just been solved which meant a day off for the couple. Or so they thought; Mycroft entered 221B without even knocking – and if he did, neither Sherlock nor (Y/N) heard him – ready to give his brother a brand new case.

Sherlock had started deepening the kisses just when Mycroft stepped on the flat. He walked confidently towards the kitchen – aka the source of the sound of (Y/N)’s giggles – and cleared his throat to announce his arrival.

“Brother mine, (Y/N).” He cheered. (Y/N) tried to look at him but Sherlock pulled her face back to him. Mycroft cleared his throat once more. “Brother.” He insisted.

“I’m busy, Mycroft.” Sherlock replied between kisses. (Y/N) tried to move away, she was a bit shy in front of her brother-in-law, but Sherlock kept her still.

“And I’ve got a case for you.” Mycroft replied with a heavy sigh.

“Leave it on my desk, I’ll check it later.” Sherlock mutter nonchalantly and continued his snogging session with (Y/N).

“This is life or death, Sherlock.” The consultant detective groaned angrily but refused to look at him brother.

Instead, Sherlock’s hands travelled directly to (Y/N)’s arse. “Sherlock!” She squealed, making Sherlock smirk mischievously.

“Mycroft, I would recommend you to leave before she starts shouting blasphemies.” Sherlock clicked his tongue, granting one look to his brother before continuing his plan. He touched her breasts, and her hips, and her arse once more. (Y/N) tried to pull away at first, but then Sherlock begged her to play along and so she stopped.

“Brother, please.” Mycroft begged angrily.

“Leave.” Sherlock commanded. (Y/N) managed to give Mycroft an apologetic glance before he finally decided to obey.

“Ever since you got a girlfriend…” He started, giving his back to Sherlock.

“Don’t dare to finish that sentence.” Sherlock threatened as he stopped touching her.

“I was going to say something good.” Mycroft mocked him, “Nice to see you, (Y/N).” Mycroft started walking out, “and brother…”

“What?” Sherlock rolled his eyes.

“Use protection, we don’t want you to have a child while you’re still being a baby.” And with that said, Mycroft left.

Sherlock groaned angrily but got calmed down by (Y/N) rubbing his shoulders as comfort. “He’s just trying to get you back for our little show…” She whispered.

“He’s jealous because my girlfriend isn’t a plate of food that disappears two seconds after I watch it.” Sherlock hissed. (Y/N) had to agree with Mycroft, Sherlock could be a baby at times.

“Yes and that girlfriend is right in front of you and will disappear if you don’t pay attention to her.” (Y/N) said softly. Sherlock smiled lovingly and looked at her once more. “Where were we?” She inquired flirtingly.

Sherlock went back to the small pecks from the beginning. There was no hurry, no one chasing after them, no one threatening their lives. Just the two of them, enjoying a few seconds of peace in the best way they could: together.

A/N: This could link to one of the other reader inserts ‘The Baby Is Coming’ but you don’t have to read that to understand this. I hope I haven’t made Mycroft or Sherlock to OOC. Enjoy! xxx

Exhausted was an understatement. You knew that childbirth was very painful and tiring but nothing could have prepared you for that. However, the long nine months and incredibly painful birth was all worth it as your little boy was born. Sherlock was stood by the window nursing the babe. He’d insisted that you slept but you wanted to stay awake because the Holmes parents, now grandparents, were on their way. You assumed that Mycroft would probably stay at the Holmes residence but you didn’t know whether he’d be forced to pay a visit to the hospital. Sherlock was tense. You could tell he didn’t want Mycroft to come but you did. You wanted a close family and although Mycroft was a fairly distant and an unsociable person, he was the uncle of your child and you wanted him to be involved.

“Yes mother,” A voice said from the other side of the door. The voice belonged to Mycroft Holmes. “The nurse said that they were in here.” The door opened slowly and in came Mycroft and his parents.

“Congratulations!” Mrs Holmes exclaimed and came over to your bedside. She kissed your cheek and then rushed over to Sherlock and kissed him. Mr Holmes gave his congratulations whereas Mycroft stayed in the doorway.

“Have you decided on a name?” Mycroft asked.

“Arthur Hamish William Holmes,” You replied with a smile.

“My little Arthur,” Mrs Holmes said happily as she took the boy from Sherlock. “I say that we’re too young to be grandparents."

"I for one accept my age,” Her husband replied but she just chuckled. After holding Arthur for quite a while, she finally passed your son over to grandfather Holmes.

“Finally a grandchild,” He said. “We knew Mycroft would never have children and we finally gave up hope with Sherlock. Then he met you, Y/N. You both produced a lovely little baby boy. My grandson.” He was full of pride.

“Would you like a hold?” You asked Mycroft.

Sherlock was about to object but his brother did first. “No thank you,” He said. “Babies are not really my forte and I have a good view from here.”

“No I insist.”

“I don’t-”

“Mycroft Holmes, you will take the baby, hold the baby, and enjoy it.” You got out of bed and you took Arthur from Mr Holmes. You then passed him to the child’s uncle. Mycroft was terrified. He was almost shaking. Mycroft was in charge of the whole country (practically) but that was no problem and he was as cool as a cucumber. Give him a child and he will panic.

“I think we should all, with the exception of Mycroft and Y/N, get some coffee,” Mrs Holmes said. “No objections!" They all got up and left. There was no arguing with Mrs Holmes.

Mycroft watched helplessly as you fell asleep. He had hoped to hand Arthur back you but tiredness had took over you. He couldn’t give him to anyone else either. He was stuck. He walked over to the window, which was where Sherlock had stood earlier. Mycroft looked down at the boy. Arthur’s eyes were wide open and he was looking up at his uncle. Mycroft’s expression softened. He began to realise how important this child was to him. He was trusted with little Arthur and he would do anything to protect him. Mycroft was the one who taught Sherlock to not care however the 'iceman’ himself was now making exceptions.

Sherlock entered the room. He saw you asleep in the bed and then saw his older brother looking down at Arthur with admiration in his eyes.

"I may appear harsh,” Mycroft stated. “However, I promise that I will do everything in my power to keep Arthur, you, and Y/N safe.”

“Were you not doing that already?”

“Yes but that was out of 'brotherly compassion.’ Now it is out of… Out of… Love.” Love was a hard word for Mycroft to get out but he did it all the same.

Sherlock chuckled. “I’m flattered.”

“I’m serious.”

“I’m the father. Am I not able to keep my wife and child safe?”

“Yes but what happens when it comes to cases? When you’re getting into other people’s business and you put yourself and them in danger? Or when you’re bored so you get high? Who will be there to pick up the pieces? This isn’t a game, Sherlock! These are people’s lives!”

“I’m a changed man now.”

“I’m trying to help, Sherlock!”

He sighed. “Then thank you. Also, Y/N would like you to be godfather as well as John.”

“Just Y/N?”

“Fine! I guess I think you’d be fit too…”

“Then I am honoured.”

Mycroft is insecure

A beautiful but sad moment in TEH is when Mrs Hudson interrupts the silly conversation of the Holmes brothers and says:
“He’s secretly pleased to see you, underneath all that.”
I think that in this scene Mrs Hudson outwits both brothers again and again.
And after that last spot-on observation, Sherlock looks at her lowkey impressed and remains silent.

This means that Sherlock sees the (double) truth in her words and doesn’t deny it.

On the other hand, Mycroft asks her with a sudden mood shift for the better : “Sorry, which of us?” to which Mrs Hudson replies: “Both of you.”

This is fantastic physical acting by Gatiss here. Mycroft tries to look indifferent and above all that, but he actually feels contentment and great curiosity.

The fact that he, Mycroft Holmes, fails to instantly understand which one of the two Mrs Hudson meant and can’t keep himself from asking an almost childish question tells us that his insecurity about Sherlock’s feelings clouds his judgement.

The sad thing is that, unlike Sherlock, Mycroft doesn’t know whether his young brother actually cares about him like he does. Despite all the hostility, Sherlock knows deep inside that Mycroft loves and looks after him.

When Mrs Hudson responds “Both of you”, Sherlock turns to look at Mycroft playfully, but it is loving and affectionate. He looks at him straight in the eye, which means that he’s finally eager to become more open with his older brother and he would like it if Mycroft did this too. He’s like “See, the goldfish reads us better than we can read each other, brother mine”.

Mycroft may be able to see through Sherlock very easily, but he can’t do it when he’s personally involved. He is afraid that Sherlock truly loathes him. He fears that this is not just a childish sibling rivalry or that Sherlock never forgave him for some deed of the past. He’s very insecure and yearns for some sort of brotherly affection, so he literally clings to whatever information Mrs Hudson might give him. Does Sherlock care about him? Is the “seemingly insignificant” landlady right? Is he loved?!

Mycroft needs Sherlock just as Sherlock needs him, if not more.

I require a hug.

The Mutual Friend

So who IS this ominous mutual friend then?

Thinking about it, I remembered some cuts in the filming earlier this episode which I found quite startling

directly followed by this

even later

and just a few moments later in direct cuts

Even as this indirect implication of “that kind of friendship” in this scene:

because you know

So this implies a quite tight connection between Mycroft and Culverton, doesn’t it?? Why would they cut it like this otherwise???

And Mycroft and Eurus - have always been close!

So? Did he? Why? Why would he tell such intimate information about his baby brother he wants to protect - especially to his murderous manipulative psychopath-sister? Friends, are you?

And what about the note?

Also interesting cuts here

directly followed by this question of the therapist/Eurus

Is there a connection implied here between the note and Mycroft??

Why did it otherwise appear exactly at this moment? During Mycrofts drugs bust while Sherlock is in hospital? It could have re appeared at any time, but this is what we see with the note…

Family? Why family and not “your brother”??? Is he maybe looking after other parts of his family too?? There is a sister, he is looking after for quite a while… and

No Mycroft….probably not…

Maybe it’s all just a ‘Great Game’…. who knows…

(this was actually meant to be an addition to the Mycroft posts of @ebaeschnbliah, but I decided it earned an own post!)

Thatcher, Redbeard, a series of dreadful events, and the love that have yet to speak its name.

Someday the true story may be told – for those of us that have recognized and believed in the romance between Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, Sherlock has been the adaptation many of us wanted to see it happen. S4 was difficult – I didn’t think it possible to experience grief and loss because of a tv show, yet there I was, sad, disappointed, and moping for weeks. But after going back and reading some ACD canon as a form of therapy, I realized just how much I still love Sherlock. I can’t explain it, it is… what it is. So I watched S4 again quite a few times the last week or so. And guess what? I am here to tell you in all seriousness – love conquers all may still be on its way after all.

We already know the surface narrative of S4: Mary died saving Sherlock, Eurus, the long-lost third Holmes sibling killed Redbeard aka Victor aka Sherlock’s childhood best friend out of jealousy, and was the mastermind behind everything Moriarty ever did. After enduring the Sherrindford Experiment™, Sherlock solved Eurus’ riddles and saved John’s life; Baker Street Boys were back at 221B solving crimes as they always do, with some parenting on the side. The end.

My conclusion after tearing through layers of allusions? Mary probably didn’t die (I can’t make up my mind about this… for now); there was definitely no baby. It was all Mycroft’s fault, Eurus the east wind was a story he made up to conceal Lady Elizabeth Smallwood’s slaughterhouse, where Redbeard came into being and became Sherlock’s Reichenbach cauldron. Sherlock and John finally recognized the hurt, grief, and loss they both endured as a couple since TRF; but for now, they were back in the glass closet, the love they shared remained unspoken – until/if the lost special can be found. The end.

Don’t believe me? Let’s begin with Thatcher because so much of S4 revolves around the darkest moments in the UK during her time as the prime minister. Before I begin, please note that you’ll have to see beyond the suggested time and space presented on screen as the surface narrative unfolds, and instead try and think about allegory and allusion. Yeah, kinda like reading ACD canon, but a bit more difficult – let’s face it, visual media is just as capable of inspiring as deceit as we all know intimately by now.

Ready? Fair warning – this is the longest and saddest meta I’ve ever written, and it’s only the tip of an iceberg. Please be patience and try reading to the end, I promise it’ll be worth your time.

The scene that broke everything wide open for me was the exchange between Mycroft and Lady Smallwood:

Lady Smallwood. Alicia this time. PM – as in prime minister? Nope. Because earlier:

Why use an acronym, then? PM as in night? Darkness? Shadow?

A secret then. What did Mycroft reveal as he removed Alicia Smallwood’s card?

Oh and look what Eurus said in the scene right after:

The other one – Lady Elizabeth Smallwood. Lady…… Sherrinford?

221B was loud that afternoon. The clients – whoever they were – had talked about a lottery ticket for almost thirty minutes straight. (Y/N) was impressed that Sherlock hadn’t shut them up and kicked them out already.

“Is he sick?” (Y/N) whispered to Mrs. Hudson. They were huddled outside her flat’s door listening.

“Uh… I think you should go up and figure it out.” The old woman suggested and sneaked into her flat without leaving any time to argue.

Mrs. Hudson had always shipped John and Sherlock, that until (Y/N) appeared and so her ship changed. “Unbelievable what Twitter can do to a woman like Mrs. Hudson” Watson had said, but he was inertly please because he also liked Sherlock and (Y/N) as a couple.

The girl fixed her clothes and got upstairs confidently and ready to pretend she hadn’t heard the whole conversation. She opened the door slowly.

“Did you find the lottery ticket?” Sherlock asked. He looked bored, but he wasn’t acting like usual. Instead, he was sitting at his seat while the two clients – an old couple – sat at the leather couch.

“Yes, turns out he had it on his back pocket.” The lady giggled, “So we had time to…”

“(Y/N)!” Sherlock cheered as he saw the girl appear behind the door. He jumped out of his seat and rushed over to her. “Kill me.” He mouthed jokingly. (Y/N) chuckled in silence and Sherlock winked at her. The old lady cleared her throat, capturing Sherlock’s attention back.

“Am I interrupting, Mr. Holmes?” (Y/N) inquired, using her professional voice tone.

“Not at all, my dear.” Sherlock said, “They were about to leave, right mum?”

“Mum?” (Y/N) gasped.

“Yes, sorry.” Sherlock dragged her to the leather couch as the couple got up. “Mum, Dad, this is (Y/N).” Sherlock introduced them, “(Y/N) these are my parents.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” (Y/N) smiled warmly.

“The pleasure is ours.” Mrs. Holmes said. She had a strange look on her face, and same look was shared by her husband. Both of them alternating their gaze between Sherlock and (Y/N).

“You came, you talked non-stop, you met (Y/N), and now you leave.” Sherlock urged to say, “Tell Mycroft I say hi.”

“But Sher…” His mom tried to argue, but Sherlock was already pushing them out. His mother stopped right before she stepped on the hallway and Sherlock couldn’t help but to stop pushing them due to the authoritarian look on her face. “Dinner, at eight today.” She said.

“I’m working on a case.” Sherlock argued.

“The victim is already dead, however we are not.” Mrs. Holmes snapped back, “Dinner at eight today.” She repeated and then looked at (Y/N). “Bring her.”

“William Sherlock Scott Holmes, you better be there with her or else…” She threatened.

“Yes, mum.” Sherlock nodded.

“Good boy.” She palmed his cheek and then left. Sherlock stood still, frozen in place until (Y/N) walked closer to him.

“I’m afraid you have to come as well… She can be scary when she’s mad.” He mumbled. (Y/N) giggled, guiding him to his seat.

“It’s fine; I’d love her to answer some questions for me.” Sherlock chuckled, finally relaxing from his sudden terror.

“There’s a list, she knows it by memory.” He commented.

“A list about common questions about you and Mycroft?” She inquired.

“Oh no, just a list of me.” Sherlock explained, “Mycroft’s got a whole file… She still doesn’t memorize it.” (Y/N) laughed loudly and Sherlock soon followed her.

anonymous asked:

So did Magnussen know about Eurus and Victor? He taunts Sherlock about Redbeard in HLV but doesn't think to use Eurus and her being locked up as a child as blackmail against Mycroft?? Like he shouldn't have even needed Mary. If not, then why did he think Redbeard was a dog? Did Mycroft brainwash him too lol?

I. I need to lie down Nonny.

Because you’re right. This… makes no sense. Especially if Mags has ties to Moriarty, who apparently had ties to Eurus.

*adds this to the toppling pile of inconsistencies*

Something fucky this way comes. Eurus doesn’t actually exist, methinks. She seems to be the only factor in the whole of everything that doesn’t add up.

The Broken Family (addict!sister!reader x sherlock x mycroft)

A/N: Hey, so here it is! New fanfic! What? The request did say ’need the angst’ so here it is, also I’m a bit sorry for making Sherlock be such a dick in this, also Mycroft is a bit not good and reader as well. Greg on the other hand is love. Tell me if you need a sequel, if you’d want to see where reader goes, or request how it should end. Hopefully this doesn’t suck. I worked hard on this one, made three different stories, but this turned out as the winner.

Request: Hey, can I request something? Could you please write a Sherlock x addict reader to turn the tables? I love sister!Reader inserts because Sherlock is usually less empathic with his siblings but it could be a friend!reader or whatever pops in your mind, I just NEED the angst, haha! Thanks in advance!

Warnings: Lots of angst and drugs, emotionally incapable to manage family drama Holmes’, even the reader.

The call Greg Lestrade had received brought havoc to the Scotland Yard. The detective inspector had not seen his men this active in months and a simple phone call had got all his subordinates on their toes and anxious. The said inspector had tried to find a drug den, the very heart of British paradise for drug addicts, but failed countless of times. This lead they had got though sounded very promising and matched to so many conclusions and other clues the Yard already had so Lestrade had no option but to check the place. He also wanted to see by his own eyes and be the one to finish this case if it was what they were looking for.

Lestrade arrived with numerous police cars as escort to an abandoned building. The sirens had been muted so the cops had an opportunity for an ambush, to catch as many druggies as possible and hopefully a dealer or two. That of course was mostly wishful thinking, but you never knew who would be in there. And that made the cases interesting, risky but very addicting to someone like Greg Lestrade who was desperate to solving cases. He already got questioned by almost everyone when he asked for a consulting detective’s help, that was he capable of doing his job, which he was, but to prove it to his colleagues constantly got to his nerves. This was the moment to shine.

The inspector went in with the first row of men, gun at hand, alert for what would be to come to him. He went up stairs with a quick pace, his men right behind him. He could hear his heart beat rise, so familiar and pleasing feeling of adrenaline pumping through his veins as he approached a wide messy room. The floor was filled with empty needles, plastic wraps and joints, companied with dirty clothes and mattresses. On those mattresses there were about seven young people, dozing off, hidden under their blankets, and hopefully all alive. It got depressing in matter of seconds when there would be a deceased kid’s body under the covers and to contact the parents was always something that took a high amount of pleasure points off of the accomplished case.

Lestrade howled the youngsters awake, lowered his gun, seeing the state they were in and informing his men to keep on searching from the other rooms. He waited until all the seven people got up, struggling to their feet, wobbling towards the door. An ambulance had been brought with the police cars as well and was ready to use. The nurses were ready to check on the zombified youngsters as they had been informed how many of them there were. Lestrade could be proud of himself now and he felt rather jolly, the emotion almost already reaching his face that he tried to contain to seem professional when his eyes landed on a figure, a familiar one that ran his blood cold.

”Oh, for the love of god.” He sighed, half grunted and knew this would make things much worse.

You were unaware of what was going on. You had no idea what had happened in the world that surrounded you, but then again how could you? You had shut out everything, creating this bubble that kept you in until all you had taken wore off and just then could you see the damage you caused. That of course happened much later from now, but you started to get the hang of it when you woke up to hear someone yelling the loud booming of the voice only became clearer as you came around. You were slightly dizzy, like half asleep but still aware of the surroundings, your eyes droopy and eye sight blurry, but your ears worked well enough for you to figure out what was to happen.

Your ears picked up with the shouting that became clearer and clearer, the loud mumble turning to muffled words and then loud muttering, until you were able to make out words. The first thing you were able to make out was your name, and the sound started getting closer. Your eyes couldn’t fix on the figure approaching you, but the blurry figure was something too familiar to you. The voice calling you cleared as well and you became certain who it belonged to.

When your eyesight came back to normal they met the inspector’s worried but angered eyes and you waved awkwardly back at him, a tired smile on your lips as you innocently greeted the man.

”(Y/n) Holmes.” Greg muttered in defeat. He had been a little doubtful that it really was you, since your hair was messy and your clothes nothing like the regular ones you wore. The high quality clothes that you dressed in, very Holmes kind of style, compared to the sweat pants and a big covering hoodie made you look unfamiliar, to you as well.

Greg was now just beside you, his hands on your shoulders, but they left your body just when you had started to feel them on you and he swirled around in frustration and then called for his men. This case would not see the headlines. and he took his phone out. Lestrade made a call that didn’t much please you. He knew he needed some help with hiding this said case from seeing the daylight and then there was you, then again it was only for you he had to do this in the first place. To your misfortune and fortune he ended up calling Mycroft.

You didn’t get much along with Sherlock. You didn’t know why, was it because he was as troubled as you, or that he was so concerned with his own life he couldn’t bother himself by adding you to it, not to mention even bothering to ask how you were doing which he did with Mycroft. Then there was Mycroft who seemed like he didn’t care about anyone, but it wasn’t true. He had always been the one behind the family, concerned of all of you being torn apart and getting separated. He held it together. Or tried to at least. That of course could be one of the reasons Sherlock couldn’t stand you. You got along with Mycroft so well and maybe Sherlock just wasn’t up for the task as to earn your trust? It didn’t matter though, you were old enough to make your own decisions and you had got this far without Sherlock’s care. You could do so for the rest of your life as well.

”I thought it’s better you clean this mess up and do me a favor, yeah? Try to get some sense in this ones head.” Greg glared at you. You had sat down at the end of the stairs right opposite the front door that had been pulled open. You had managed to get down stairs with Greg’s help and the house had been cleared from all the other users, only leaving you with Lestrade inside. The bright daylight cast it’s golden light on the floor in front of you and barely reaching the tip of your shoes. You kept your eyes on the floor for now, resembling of a misbehaved child while their guardian was figuring how to punish you.

”Is that really a good idea?” Greg worriedly furrowed his brows. This alarmed you. For a second you thought of running. If Mycroft would be to sent you to rehab, or worse, tell your parents about what you’ve been up to you would rather die. As panic reached your features Greg raised his hand in a supporting and calming gesture, signaling everything was alright. ”Okay, what ever you see fit.” Greg said back to Mycroft in a rush, clearly Mycroft had started threatening the inspector and Greg went to assure your older brother that there would be no need for that. He would let Mycroft deal with all this his way, not stopping him even by stating his own opinion.

Finally ending the call that felt like it had lasted for an hour, Lestrade approached you and took a stand a meter in between the two of you, he looked down for a second, his shadow that was cast upon the daylight reached your knees, then tried to reach your eye contact which you avoided with all cost. He let out a sigh, his hands stuffed in his pockets. ”You okay?” He decided to be gentle and even a bit understanding when he approached you, but you couldn’t actually say you were thankful of it. You really didn’t care what Greg said or thought. You were going to hear a lecture sooner or later anyways so there was no need for him to give you his sympathy if there were any in a sincere way.

”Well this wasn’t my first time if that’s what you’re asking.” You remarked and eyed the wall with narrowed eyes.

”Did your brothers even know about this?” Lestrade dismissed your comment, but you knew it made him think. Of course this would affect him in a distant way. He knew almost your whole family and their secrets and now would be to ad yours to top all your brothers. Most likely not so pleasant but he was just being human and doing his job.

You didn’t say anything for a minute. Your expression softened slightly, turning to sadness, but not leaving the wall you tried to find interesting. The dark wallpaper, almost molded green color, just brought even more negative thoughts to your mind and you couldn’t help but ask, ”What’d he say?”

Lestrade shifted uncomfortably and looked away. You turned to look at him, to question him what could be so bad, but your eyes wondered to the door way, over Greg’s shoulder and you saw a tall, lean figure making it’s way to the door. The sunlight blurred the vision for a good while, until the man was right at the door, his raged expression showing. You could feel your body being forced upwards and your scowl was replaced with panic, sadness and hurt. You wanted to flee from your spot right now, hoping for Mycroft to follow behind your other brother, but knew you would need to settle for Sherlock.

”You have any idea what you have done?” Sherlock fumed, his body swaying as he walked fast next to Lestrade. ”I have other problems to tend to and you decide to do this now?” You flinched at Sherlock’s hard words, your head had started aching just now, or you had just realized it, and your whole composure screamed how vulnerable you were as you lowered your head and brought your shoulders closer to each other.

”I was this close solving an important case when I get a call from Mycroft about your little misbehavior.” Sherlock had never looked so scary and angry, not when it was pointed to you and you couldn’t even do anything to protect yourself. You could barely stand on your own feet. It was overwhelming and even if you had never been in good terms with Sherlock he had never been this aggressive towards you and it only made you distance yourself further from him in a psychical level.

”What if you’d calm down a little?” Lestrade suggested but his eyes never left yours. He had seen your state and knew you were about to break. He could read you well, even if you had heard how much Sherlock looked down on him you knew Greg wasn’t stupid. He at least could sense your fear and unstable status unlike Sherlock.

Sherlock turned his head to the inspector in a sharp swish, glaring at the man and hissed, ”What are you even doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be out there, hurrying your men out of here while I have to clean this mess?” And with that Lestrade decided it was better to just scattle and not start an argument. He nodded towards you and left.

”Why didn’t Mycroft come?” You finally dared to talk back, not sure was it a good idea but did it anyway.

”He’s far too busy for this nonsense.” Sherlock rolled his eyes. ”Something of me giving you a big scare to wake you up.” He muttered.

”Why did you even come?” You whispered mostly to yourself. Your hands were balled in fists and your head hang low. You knew you were close to the breaking point and couldn’t keep yourself together any longer.

”You think he gave me a choice?” Sherlock mocked. ”I know you and Mycroft are best friends, but you do still have some sense in you, at least I hope you do. If he wants something to happen he will make sure it does.”

”You’re Sherlock Holmes, you could’ve found a way around it! You’ve avoided responsibility before so don’t blame me for being here! I’m sure Mycroft is just pissed that he has to deal with all the shit we cause to the family. And all the crap you make him go through.” You muttered the last part and crossed your arms. You didn’t care if you were now acting childish, Sherlock wouldn’t scold you for that unlike Mycroft and you were counting on it.

”I am causing trouble?” Sherlock snapped back.

”Yes, you!” You groaned.

Sherlock chuckled sarcastically and smiled doubtingly. ”I’m not the one with needle marks bruising my skin.”

”Not now.” You corrected. You looked at your brother, both of you glaring at each other like two kids having a stare contest. ”Isn’t this all too familiar to you?” You asked and tried to get him to see the situation how it was and how it all had happened before, but not this way.

”Hey, looks like we aren’t that different after all! We could even get high together some time! You probably know and even make better shit that I have ever dreamed of!” Shock took over Sherlock. You had just hit him under the belt but there was no going back now. You had witnessed Sherlock playing before and you would do the same. You could hurt him there where he hurt others by stating the obvious.

He looked back at you, eyes wide and puzzled by your sudden rage. ”I guess Mycroft sent you so you could see what he had to deal with when you were using. Oh how the tables turn.” You sassed and tried to keep the tears in. You tried to hide the pain with your sass and hurtful comments, but you had been through an awful night and it had started to come down on you. ”I hope Mycroft had come instead of you. If he cares about your wellbeing and comes for you when you need him, why didn’t he come for me?” You sobbed.

You looked down, unable to keep the tears away that now rolled down your cheeks and dropped to the floor. ”You both are so stupid.” You cried out with a soft and silent voice. ”You say Mycroft is my best friend, but what kind of friend sends someone as cruel and inhuman person to comfort the other, huh?” You could hear Sherlock take a step closer to you, but you backed away, he called your name softly. ”No!” You snapped. ”Leave me alone! I don’t ever want to see you or Mycroft! Ever again!” And with that you dashed out, past Sherlock and disappeared to the near woods.

Appreciating Mycroft

What starts out as Sherlock questioning why Molly always takes Mycroft’s side in an argument turns into everyone showing Mycroft how much they appreciate him. Mention of Warstan, Sherlolly and Mythea if you squint. Mycroft and Sherlock are good bros.

“Why do you always take Mycroft’s side when we get into an arguement?”

Molly looked up from painting her toes, surprised at Sherlock’s query.

“Because no one ever takes his side,” Molly answered. She dipped the brush once more into the nail varnish, applying just one more coat. Sherlock made to sit down, but she stopped him. “Jostle me and I’ll put you on dish duty for a month, this is my third coat.”

Sherlock rolled his eyes, moving instead to his own chair. “Anyway, you were saying? Of course, people take his side, he’s got half the government in his pocket.”

Headcanon: Holmes brothers

I believe Mycroft was lonely when Sherlock was away. After all, Mycroft can’t be himself around that many people in his life. During Sherlock’s time away he also had to act like his brother really had died. If he had any closer acquaintances, he would have had to lie to them and accept their condolences for his loss.

Sherlock’s time away had taught him to appreciate people around him quite differently, so he soon realized how happy Mycroft was to see him, and how lonely he had been. That’s why they were playing Operation and the deduction game and that’s why he tried to persuade Mycroft to come to John’s wedding. Sherlock wanted to be there for his brother, but he just didn’t know how to put that into words after so many years of resentment and drifting apart.

Of course Mycroft was complaining about the games, but he didn’t leave, did he?

What’s On The Menu

When Mycroft stepped into the dingy flat, he wasn’t sure what to expect. He had seen Greg’s flat on surveillance footage and the like, but he had never actually seen the inside of it. That was taking it too far, even for him. He didn’t want to scare the man away, not when their first date had gone so well.

Greg had already stepped into the kitchen, donning a simple white apron. “You can make yourself at home. I’m sorry about the mess. I’ve been swamped with paperwork at the Yard and haven’t had time to clean. I haven’t even had a day off since that whole cannibalism thing Sherlock solved last week.” He chuckled softly, withdrawing two defrosted pork chops from his fridge, along with several fresh vegetables and a bottle of Chardonnay.

Mycroft smiled as he heard the man’s voice carry through from the kitchen. He propped his umbrella against the wall near a table with a bowl for keys and other belongings. Mycroft slipped off his coat and looked around for a place to hang it. God, he felt terribly out of place here, but he found a hook next to where Greg’s was currently hanging.

He figured he would get used to it in time. No doubt Greg would feel lost in his home too. Mycroft smiled at the thought of that. He would love to take Greg back to his overly elaborate old house someday. Patience, Mycroft. Get through one date at a time.

He berated himself for thinking in such a way. He completely enjoyed spending time with the man in the kitchen. In fact, instead of just sitting in the lounge and making himself comfortable, he ambled into the kitchen to watch Greg at work. He had impressed upon the government official that his cooking skills were one of the best things about him. Mycroft had to see it for himself to be sure. Sure enough, as he walked into the other room, Greg was busy at work cooking the pork and seasoning it with a flick of garlic and a few other spices.

“You don’t have to wait around in here, you know.” Greg said without turning around. Mycroft noticed that while Greg wore the apron, the Holmes brother’s eyes followed the apron strings downward. His cheeks flushed slightly at the sight before him, rather enjoying it. But then Greg turned around and moved to his countertop to slice up the vegetables.

Mycroft quickly glanced away, clearing his throat slightly. “Don’t be absurd. I’m here for an evening with you, after all. Is there anything I can do to help?”

“Not at all,” Greg said, grabbing a chef’s knife from the block nearby. Mycroft noticed that it was stainless steel. Greg didn’t get paid an extreme amount from his work as a Detective Inspector, but it was decent enough. It appeared most of that funding went to his kitchen. So why on earth did he insist on living in such a dreadful apartment? “Sorry, that came out a bit harshly. I get rather focused when I’m cooking.”

Mycroft smiled at him. “No worries, Gregory. These skills are intriguing me. I cannot wait to see what they deliver.” A small smirk twitched on his lips and he took the seat at the end of Greg’s kitchen table. “So, what is the plan for this evening, Inspector? After our night out in your Italian restaurant, and the one soon following when I treated you to a symphony concert and elaborate dinner, I am interested to know what’s… on the menu.” Mycroft licked his lips ever so gently, not breaking eye contact with Greg.

Greg, flustered to a maximum level, blushed a deep red and nearly missed the onion he had been cutting. Luckily, the knife fell directly against the cutting board, missing his fingers. He swore and turned his attention back to the food. God damn, Mycroft, Greg thought to himself. He chuckled nonetheless. “Give me just a few minutes to get this going fully, and then I’ll come back to that comment.”

Mycroft, amused albeit a bit nervous, nodded to him. He noticed the near danger that Greg had caused and his eyes widened in alarm. A small pang of guilt ran through his chest, but it quickly subsided as he realized the man was okay. “My apologies for that. I did not mean to make you nearly amputate your appendages.”

Greg laughed. He rather enjoyed Mycroft’s way with words. The impressive lexicon of the elder Holmes amazed the DI. He wasn’t an idiot, by any means, but Mycroft was the cleverest man in London. Probably in the world. And he was having dinner in Greg’s tiny kitchen. “It’s fine. Wouldn’t be the first time I injured myself cooking.”

“We do learn best from experience, but I would prefer it if you kept your digits out of the dinner. And attached to you.” Mycroft laughed to himself. Greg chuckled too, and threw the freshly chopped veggies in another pan to cook along with some olive oil and a bit of seasoning. Perfect. He poured some wine into two glasses and glanced at Mycroft before walking over to the table, taking the seat next to him. He moved his chair closer; Mycroft did the same and took the glass.

“Thank you, Inspector.”

“Of course, Mr. Holmes. It’s not as fancy as the dinner we had last week, but it’s something.” He said, clinking his glass against the other man’s. “Oh, I was so busy cooking that I forgot something.” Greg set his glass aside and gently leaned forward, grasping the knot of Mycroft’s tie to pull him closer. Their lips soon landed together. The kiss was slow and feather-light initially, but Mycroft quickly gained control of it and deepened it, enjoying the pure bliss that radiated from the both of them. The government official’s hands found themselves tugging Greg closer, one gently caressing his face, the other carding through those silvery locks he adored so much. Greg smirked through the kiss and lightly nibbled on Mycroft’s bottom lip before tugging away.

“Sorry, got to check the food.” He winked at him and sauntered back across the kitchen.

Mycroft pouted slightly, knowing that Greg had done that on purpose to just leave him wanting more. His recently made-official relationship status played in his mind. The night that he had asked Greg out properly was a night he was never going to forget. Their first kiss was as beautiful as expected; most people would have expected the Iceman to be rubbish at it, but with powers of deduction such as his, he could figure exactly what someone wanted. Well, when he was able to think straight. Plus, the fact that he wanted to kiss someone as lovely as Greg Lestrade only made it easier.

That had been a month ago. It only took two dates before the men realized they were just prolonging the time that they could actually be an item. Boyfriends. Mycroft never thought he would accept that term, but he rather loved the idea of it, especially with the man before him.

The rest of the cooking time passed in a blur. The two talked about work and the latest developments in their professional lives. Although that was mostly Greg talking, as Mycroft couldn’t discuss his job with anyone.

“I know I can’t know what you actually do, but something would be nice. You’re so mysterious.” Greg said, but it was an affectionate statement.

Mycroft let loose a short laugh. “You know that if I told you anything at all, I’d have to kill you. And that would be most unfortunate, Gregory.”

Greg was taking a sip of wine and nearly choked as he said the words. He watched the British Government for a minute, unsure whether or not he merely jested. When he didn’t get a read, he gulped down the wine and moved back to the counter to prepare the plates for dinner. He served Mycroft first, topping off his glass of wine. Mycroft thanked him and waited for him to sit down before making a move to taste the meal.

Greg stopped him before he could. “Uh uh, not yet.” He said, raising a finger. Perplexed, Mycroft paused, watching the other man with heightened interest. He disappeared into the other room, only to come back lighting a candle. He placed it on the table and smiled. “There. Now you can go ahead.”

Mycroft shook his head and laughed to himself at Greg’s antics. Greg watched him intently. Mycroft raised the fork to his lips, the food steaming. He bit into the meat.

It was cooked to perfection.

“Delicious.” Mycroft said, but it was hard to tell whether or not he was talking about the food. Greg smiled at him and tucked in himself.

“I’m glad you like it. It was quite simple. I don’t have a lot of stuff in my kitchen, and most of my money goes to helping out the kids, but…” Greg trailed off. The children were a difficult subject for him.

Mycroft noticed the troubled countenance of his boyfriend and sighed. He reached over and grasped his hand. “It is always difficult when families have conflicts, Gregory. I sympathize entirely.” He smiled, just a little.

When the meal was finished, both of them cleaned up the kitchen. Greg hummed and dried the dishes while Mycroft washed them. It was a rather spectacular sight, as Mycroft had finally removed his suit coat, revealing his waistcoat and crisp white shirt. But that was nothing, especially when he rolled the sleeves of said shirt. God, the man wore so much clothing and just seeing him in such a relaxed state made Greg’s mind wander. Greg knew that Mycroft wore as much physical armor as he did mental. He was a tough nut to crack, but he was slowly starting to get a read on him. Slowly, softly, gently. He’d learn to understand the Iceman and ensure that his once icy heart stayed burning hot.

As they finished cleaning up and Mycroft wandered over to the table to finish his glass of wine, Greg smirked and saw an opportunity. He wound the tea towel in his hand round and round itself before playfully snapping it in Mycroft’s direction, hitting him right on the ass. Mycroft actually squeaked and nearly spilled wine on himself, and Greg couldn’t help but double over laughing.

The government official scowled down his nose at the man, but he couldn’t fight back the smile that broke through his normally grim features. “You know, I could have you beheaded for that.”

“I’d like to see you try, my dear.” Greg giggled, hanging the towel over the side of the sink. Before he knew it, Mycroft was hugging him from behind, placing the two wine glasses in the sink as he did so. His arms trailed around his boyfriend like a vine. Greg, shocked, had never seen Mycroft instigate such a deep display of affection. Of course they had kissed, and it was all very well and good, but never something as delightfully domestic as this.

“Well, someone’s feeling cuddly.” He said, glancing over at Mycroft, who had rested his head on Greg’s shoulder. The other man shook with a soft laugh, making Greg smile warmly.

“I have no idea to what you refer, my dear Gregory.”

“And you’re a bloody awful liar.” Greg said as he turned around to face the other man, who had backed off slightly. Mycroft had seen the opportunity. He’d seen several people do the same thing he had just done during his… research sessions on relationships at work. He was clueless when it came to affairs of the heart, but not a single soul needed to know that. It was also a good thing his government laptop was entirely secure from potential prying eyes.

“Mm, perhaps.” He said as Greg turned to face him, his arms draped around his shoulders and meeting behind his neck. Greg’s fingers played with the edge of his hair, tugging it slightly. Mycroft chuckled at him. “Say, what’s the next part of this delightful evening in, Inspector?” The government official practically purred the words at him, and it sent a shiver down the DI’s spine.

“Hmm, I thought we could watch a movie and just enjoy the rest of that wine. And each other’s company. In other words, I want to cuddle with you.” Greg grinned at him. Mycroft blushed and reached down to adjust his already perfect tie. Greg shook his head at him; he was always doing that. He loved it when he did. There were many things about that man that he adored. Of course, it was too soon to say those three little words, but they were always on Greg’s mind. How could one man affect him so strongly?

Oh if Greg only knew that the same exact thoughts were going through Mycroft’s mind at the same time.

“A film? What will we be watching then, Gregory?” Mycroft asked as Greg led him into the lounge.

Greg watched him for a moment. “Well, action movies are some of my favorites. Die Hard in particular.”

Mycroft returned the steady gaze, not letting on that he found action movies absurdly predictable and extremely limited by the genre. Nevertheless, he smiled. “I see.”

Greg furrowed his brow at him. “You don’t want to watch it.” It wasn’t a question. Mycroft glanced up, amused and impressed that Greg had read him so easily.

“I didn’t say that. I normally don’t watch these silly action films. But… It’s what you like, and I’m happy when you’re happy, Gregory.”

Greg beamed, unable to help himself. He played the movie, but Mycroft didn’t catch very much of it. Of course, he could hear the audio. But with Greg lying on top of him, kissing him in that way he enjoyed so very much, he honestly couldn’t care less what was playing in the background.
