Oh my god, in last night’s Bob’s Burgers, Bob takes Gene to a laser light rock show at the planetarium (super important to Bob, because it was his favorite when he was a teenager, and this is the last night before they’re closing the exhibit because it’s old and no one goes anymore, also it’s Bob’s birthday), and Gene has no idea what he’s in for, but he gets pumped for it anyway ‘cause Bob’s so excited about it, and finally they get in there and they’re watching it, and Gene has a sensory overload and kinda starts freaking out ‘cause he can’t handle it, so Bob takes him out and they sit in the car for a bit. Gene’s angry because Bob didn’t tell him it would be so loud and scary, so Bob offers to play the album for Gene at a normal volume, and Gene starts to enjoy it, so he reclines the seats, takes out the cigarette lighter, tells Gene to pretend it’s a laser, and starts drawing in the air, explaining the plot to him (it’s like a full on Pink Floyd or Rush-esque rock opera about a bunch of robot overlords telling rockers that they can’t play music anymore, and one Rebel rising against them). Gene gets really into it and decides he wants to see the finale of the laser show (which Bob regards as a life-changing experience), so they sneak back into the planetarium (there’s no re-entry allowed) with a few tricks that parallel the story from the album, and watch the climax of the show together (Bob fashions some earplugs for Gene out of a napkin). On the way home, Bob’s asking Gene how he liked it, and Gene says “I loved it!”, Bob asks him to speak louder ‘cause his ear’s are shot, and Gene yells, “I LOVED IT, DAD”. Bob yells back “I love you too, Gene”.
I FUCKING!!! CAN’T!!! DEAL!!!! WITH HOW GOOD THIS SHOW IS!!! I know i don’t talk about Bob’s Burgers a lot but this show is flawless and charming and gross and funny all at the same time, the characters are written like people with actual fears and anxieties, and unlike a lot of comparable shows, the comedy doesn’t come from the family being pitted against each other, it’s always the family against the world… I love it, I love it, it’s so pure and refreshing and still somehow manages to be funny without sacrificing it’s heart, and I fuckin’ love it, please watch Bob’s Burgers holy CRAP okay I’m done.
Edd is a pretty fly ace guy, and I’m honestly so glad he exists, because I relate to him on a personal level.
Probably my favorite Edd scene was him just raising his hand and yelling “I don’t like anyone” when Rolly asked if anyone else was going to come out, because I’ve literally done that myself when coming out to people as asexual. I love him.
I’m determined to get to all the characters before Pride Month ends!
I'm sad you finished the Bokuroo week, you draw them so rarely now and I just miss my boys so much
anon please don’t try to guilt trip me into drawing more bokuro that’s kinda very rude I realize no one really reads tags so I’m gonna just say it here again - as I mentioned before, this period is really damn busy for me because for whatever reason all my fandoms and ships have decided to hold their ship weeks all together in the span of 20 days and I’m a sucker for this kind of events which means I wanna participate in everything and end up being unable to put actual effort in everything else for a while
THAT SAID how productive I am with a specific ship depends a lot on how much they’re appearing in the main story (currently in the bokuros’ case it’s a very pretty round zero), how responsive/respectful the fandom is when I do post about them (the bokuro fandom is amazing!!! Everyone around it that still keeps on trying to make it about other ships and turn my art into something it’s not supposed to be, not so much) and how much content for said ship I can consume through the fandom/how easily accessible it is (there’s very little content for bokuro in general and try and look for stuff in the tags it’s all about other ships/ot3s or ot4s/unrequited or past-relationship/tagged-but-only-as-brotp)
I really, really, really love that ship a whole damn lot still, trust me, but when I have so little inspiration coming from anything that could give it to me and at the same time I got other ships making me super creative, I’m naturally bound to produce less for it. I’m not abandoning it, I’m just asking you to be patient when my creativity doesn’t happen to be focused on them for a while
I’m sorry I’m just really angry at the antis in the voltron fandom right now.
You guys made a petition. A FUCKING petition.
I don’t even know why some of you are even still here. You clearly don’t give two iotas of shit about the show, its creators, or even other fans.
I mean have any of you, any of the people who signed that petition, actually THOUGHT about what you’re doing? You are essentially demanding that the showrunners, the people who made this wonderful series for us all to enjoy, to bend over backwards to cater to YOUR needs and YOUR wants and for what?
So you can have some ground to stand on the next time you decide to tell someone to kill themselves over a ship? So you can have a “canon” reason for why YOUR way of doing things is superior? Or is it so you can begin policing the fandom so you can pretend that you have some kind of power over your life and that your not just some child who has to deal with the world around them growing realer and realer as time goes on and you have no idea what to do because you have all these new feelings you cant explain and your powerless to stop them?
I’ve been in fandoms since I was 14 years old. And I’ve never seen a group of people so utterly dedicated to destroying a series they pretend to love.
Because you don’t love the series. Hell, I’m not even sure you LIKE it.
Otherwise you would have realized hwo pointless all this is because SHIPS DONT MATTER.
THEY’VE NEVER MATTERED
THEY DONT MATTER WHEN YOU GET HURT FOR THE FIRST TIME.
THEY DONT MATTER WHEN SOMEONE YOU LOVE DIES
THEY DONT MATTER WHEN SOMEONE BREAKS YOUR HEART FOR THE FIRST TIME
AND THEY CERTAINLY DONT MATTER WHEN YOUR ON THE INTERNET DRAWING FUCKING FANART OF TWO FICTIONAL CHARACTERS FUCKING.
Here’s a thought experiemnt.
You create a statue. It’s yours. You made it. It’s your baby, and you love it, and while you dont think it’s perfect its YOURS. It can’t belong to anyone else but YOU.
But other people don’t see that.
They start to tell you how your statue should look, start to argue about the color, the shapes, the very core of it’s being. And when you ask them why they keep trying to change the statue they claim its because they “love” it.
But they don’t love it.
They wanna possess it. Make it theirs. They wanna claim your statue as their own property despite not having spent any of the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making it.
And possessing something and controlling it and twisting it to what you want to be isn’t love. Not even close.
If none of you can see why it is this behavior is harmful, or why it is that most of the fandom isn’t behind you…
None of the voltron fans WANT you here. We all just wanna enjoy this great show with its great characters. And yeah, there’s probably a good portion of us who DONT like the idea of shiro being shipped with the other characters because we interpret them as being from different age groups. But the difference is that fans, REAL fans, know where the line in the sand is drawn and don’t cross it. THEY know and understand that while they love the series, it doesn’t belong to them. They gotta let it grow on its own and be its own thing.
There are PLENTY of voltron fans who dislike shaladin or it’s ilk for what it is. But they understand that its something that up to interpretation because it’s a SHOW. A show they LIKE and ENJOY for reasons outside of the fan shipping.
YOu think the fandom is behidn you?
Voltron is a 30 year franchise.
There are fans of the series with KIDS.
REAL adults who know what the REAL world is like.
And nearly all of them aren’t behind you.
The universe is a big place. Bigger than the world. Bigger than your house. Bigger than your room. Or your laptop. And it’s DEFINITELY bigger than tumblr.
And if you don’t want to be a part of that universe with the rest of us. I have three words for you.
Your Characters Are Lying! How to Spin Lies & Keep the Reader Guessing
As everyone knows, when anyone in pretty much anything says, “I’m fine” or some variant of that, you know it’s a lie. We’re practically programed to think that nowadays, so first, keep that in mind when you’re writing, next, let’s talk about how to get more clever than that. Let’s talk lies:
Lies are seductive. I don’t mean that in a romantic context, though it can exist there too, but basically, the rule is that whatever is said, you’ll want to believe it. Even if it’s far-fetched. You want it to be true.
Why is the character lying? The reason will be character development, so make it good. Explore the possibilities behind their motives, make them sneaky.
Why is the character being lied to? What does the character want so badly that they might possibly believe this lie? This is more character development whether or not the character believes the lie.
Plan your lies. You don’t have to plan it all out, but make sure you know who knows what about who. This is a way you can be really sneaky. Even if the reader knows everything, it’s still exciting to see how it all unfolds.
As far as lies go, its a great way to show character as well as adding an extra layer of conflict and tension. It can get confusing but a few properly executed lies will add an extra layer of dimension to your story. Happy writing!
When you are feeling stuck in one place for too long, just remember, this is the beginning of the movie where the protagonist (you) is singing about wanting more in life. Sometimes the song seems to go on for a while, but soon you’ll go on an adventure!
the bottom of the garden, there is a hole. It sits in a wall shrouded by
foliage, by long, creeping vines and sharp, spiked leaves, and through the hole—the
ceiling is low, remember to crouch—there is a lane.
