Canadian visual artist Ella Morton is setting out in late September to document the rapidly changing landscape of the Arctic Circle — and the consequences of climate change — through analog photography and experimental film techniques.

Morton will join a group of artists and scientists on a three-week sailing expedition through the Svalbard Archipelago in Norway, just twelve degrees from the North Pole. She hopes the resulting photo series, The Dissolving Landscape will “speak to pertinent social issues about the impending effects of global warming in the Arctic” and “emphasize the complex relationship humans have with this landscape, which involves awe, admiration, and exploitation.”
