Concept Art for Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Ride

(Or: Say Goodbye to DCA’s Tower of Terror!)

It was rumored, then denied, then re-rumored, then re-denied. Bu now? Now, it’s official. Here’s some brand new concept art for Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout!, the upcoming, awkwardly named ride that will replace Disneyland’s (well, Disney California Adventure’s, to be exact) Tower of Terror.

The ride was confirmed last night on the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con during Marvel Studios’ presentation. Here’s the relevant info about the new ride, straight from the official press release:

Debuting in summer 2017, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will take Disney California Adventure park guests through the fortress-like museum of the mysterious Collector, who is keeping his newest acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy, as prisoners. Guests will board a gantry lift which launches them into a daring adventure as they join Rocket Raccoon in an attempt to set free his fellow Guardians.

The new attraction will transform the structure currently housing The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ into an epic new adventure, enhancing the breathtaking free fall sensation with new visual and audio effects to create a variety of ride experiences. Guests will experience multiple, random and unique ride profiles in which the rise and fall of the gantry lift rocks to the beat of music inspired by the film’s popular soundtrack.

Look who got charged (and who didn't) after the KKK brawl in Anaheim
It’s been confirmed by the Anaheim Police Department that thirteen people were arrested during yesterday’s clashes at a planned Ku Klux Klan rally, but only seven were charged — six of them counter-protesters. All five KKK members who were arrested have been released, including Charles Edward Donner, the man who stabbed three people. I stopped by the Anaheim Police Department today as members …

All of the KKK members are free, including Charles Edward Donner, the man who stabbed three people.

The Klu Klux Klan was a terrorist hate group out to bully, intimidate, threaten, cause fear, intent to murder & murder. I learned from the past and have no reason to think that they have different hopes, dreams & intentions. Hate crimes are illegal…so, why is the KKK still allowed to exist?

February 27 2016 - The Ku Klux Klan tried to protest in Anaheim. As they were unloading their confederate flags and signs they got confronted by opponents and a scuffle ensued, in which the KKK cowards stabbed three people, one of whom was seriously wounded. Their driver fled, leaving the rest of the KKK to run after him, with the ‘Grand dragon’ getting a good kicking.

Solidarity to the brave anti-racists who got hurt confronting these racist terrorists, Antifascism is always self-defense! [video]/[article]

Capturing the Moments We Take for Granted with @vandheur

“#hellomynameis Hennessy Vandheur (@vandheur). I am 17 years old, and I’m from Anaheim, California. I can tell you the instant I knew I was going to be a photographer for the rest of my life.

I’ve been a foster kid since I was 14, when my mom kicked me out of our house. I was on a rooftop in Los Angeles taking photos during a really dark time in my life. I didn’t know what to do with my life, where to go. But then, I looked out and I saw the city, the lights — I saw just how beautiful the world was around me. There’s such beauty in capturing a moment like that, and making it accessible to everyone. I’ve made it my passion to immortalize the moments around us that we all take for granted.

With photography, I found something that saved me, that made me get up in the morning. It made me want to create something new every day and put something beautiful back in the world. Making art gives you a reason to love yourself — to be able to appreciate yourself for what you do. It’s helped me evolve into someone who’s confident, driven and more satisfied with my life. I smile more often now.”

Here, in sprite form, the first round matchups of the 2015 nhl Stanley Cup playoffs.  Teams with home-ice are in their home sprites, and aways for the rest.  Should be great!

ANAHEIM REPORTBACK: Yesterday, when the KKK decided to continue with their planned rally blocks away from Disneyland even though there were little-to-no police protection there for them, antifa were able to get into some serious exchanging of viewpoints.

By the time the po-po finally showed up, several people were hospitalized and half a dozen antifa + seven KKKlowns were arrested, mostly on assault with a deadly weapon charges.

We understand that three antifa were stabbed by the Klowards and one remains in serious condition.  We’ll let you know more as more information is made available.
