america: what time is love

Steve has no shades of grey when it comes to Bucky and I love him for it. Bucky’s in Austria, whats he gonna do, walk there? If that’s what it takes. He’s been brainwashed Steve, he doesn’t know you. He will. Steve he’s wanted by multiple governments, why won’t you hand him over? He’s my friend and it wasn’t his fault. Like, there’s no question for Steve, there’s no part of him that hesitates, no other factors play into it, is it Bucky? Does he need help? Steve will do whatever it takes to give it to him. Can you believe how much he loves Bucky wow.

Get to know me meme — [4/5] favorite relationships: Steve Rogers x Peggy Carter

“Well, I couldn’t leave my best girl. Not when she owes me a dance.”

Captain America: Civil War' bromance: Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie on Cap's 'greatest love'
  • Interviewer: Would you say that Bucky Barnes is—
  • Anthony: A nightmare, yeah!
  • Interviewer: —the greatest love of Captain America, more so than Peggy Carter?
  • Chris: Yeah, they love saying—the Russos love saying that it's a love story. Uhm, I would certainly say that—You got a guy, Captain America, you got a guy who—he lost everything, he gave everything and he lost everything. So as a result there's certainly gonna be a direct allegiance to anyone from his past, and a direct priority to anyone from his origin, his original family. So, in that regard, it is a love story. The same way I love my brother, the same way I love my father, the same way I love my friends. That's a love story, that's a love story. You know, you can take it however you wanna take it, but the fact is that's a love story. So, so I think in this film you see Cap for the first time prioritize that love over his allegiance to the masses, which has always been his M.O. He's always given up himself, and put himself last for what other people need. But in this movie, Bucky means more to him, and it's what creates the conflict, really.

Okay so I live in England. I was out walking around town one day and I saw this little cute restaurant at the end of the street named Boston Tea Party. I immediately began laughing and my friends stopped me. “What is it? What’s funny?” I pointed to the restaurant name. They stared at it and then back at me with a ‘what the hell?’ look on their face.

Me: “Boston tea party. You know, the boston tea party! You know what that is, right?”

Friends: “No???”

I didn’t really expect them to know that much of American history but

So I described what the boston tea party was. So they’re like “Oh okay… So why is it funny?”

So whenever I pass it in the street I turn to my friends and with a blank face say, “I’m gonna throw their tea in the river.”

And what everyone didn’t know was that I was serious. I planned to sneak in, or if I couldn’t, apply as an employee and get in that way. I was legit going to steal all the tea and dump it in the River Avon.

So to start my mission I did what anyone would do: Google.

Google… enlightened me. I learned it was not a tea shop and was actually an american style diner. They don’t even serve tea. “Oh,” I said. “…That makes more sense.”

I WAS PREPARED TO COMMIT A CRIME JUST BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT’D BE FUNNY. I could just imagine it. Getting deported and sent back to America. And when all my america friends asked me worriedly, “What? You got deported?! Why?!” I can explain the situation. And I just know I would be everyone’s hero. I know it. I would add it to my list of life achievements. Everyone would love me. My high school US teacher would put up a picture of me in his classroom. Everything would be perfect.

so the moral of this story is…

The KLF - What Time Is Love? (LP Mix)

So.  Embarrassing.

There’s this image I’ve seen on Tumblr, I think, that says, “No one remembers their first download.” which is a throwback to the days of vinyl.  Now, while I am getting long in the tooth, vinyl is still mostly before my time.  I had a few albums growing up, like a Superman storybook, and probably some Mini-Pops or some crap, but mostly I grew up in the age of the cassette tape.  However, as I really started to get into music in high school, the compact disc had just hit the scene.

I’ve never been good at remembering things.   My memory is suspect at best.  I think my first cassette may have been Bruce Springsteen’s Born In The U.S.A.  And my first CD?  Also hazy, but I think it was The KLF.  There was a guy I worked with who I had a bit of a man-crush on.  Not in a sexual way.  In the way that I wanted to be like him.  He was charming and cool.  And he was into some interesting new music.  He introduced me to The KLF.  It was weird and different and I liked it.

I remember buying the CD shortly after.  My mom had just bought a CD player for our home stereo.  I would rush home from school before she was back from work and throw on this disc and crank it up.  The beginning of the song attached is really weird, looking back on it.  But the part where the guy comes on the mic and talks to the audience and ramps up the song used to get me pumped every time.

I haven’t listened to this in years, but I’ve been in the process of ripping a bunch of my old CD’s to iTunes, so don’t be surprised if you get more stuff like this in the future. ;)
