Neil Hamburger // The Top Ten - Censored! // America’s Funnyman

Top ten lists and unnecessary censorship are staples of late night, easy hackwork that you can plug anything into to get a working bit quick. Neil, failing to understand how either one works, attempts to combine them for double the laughs.

Neil Hamburger - “Hot February Night”

Listening to Paul McCartney reminded my of the track titled “Beatle Paul” from Neil Hamburger’s Hot February Night.  This was given to me for my birthday last year by a good friend.  I love Neil Hamburger.

I know this blog is mostly about music, but I collect comedy vinyl as well and Neil makes plenty of music references.  Even the title is a Neil Diamond reference.

This record actually takes some backstory.  Mr. Hamburger is opening for Tenacious D to an audience mostly unfamiliar with his purposefully insulting and juvenile jokes.  This goes on for about 35 minutes and the crowd hates him.

I know Hamburger is a love him or hate him guy, but he is a true master.  You know in the old WWF days they’d have Hulk Hogan go against a bad guy like Iron Sheik or Andre the Giant?  Neil Hamburger is a comedy Iron Sheik.

One of my favorite shows was seeing him in Lawrence, KS and the audience threw pennies at him and he spilled drinks on people.  America’s Funnyman indeed.
