Latin mottos from The Sellout, by Paul Beatty
Paul Beatty puts his “home-school Latin to good use” in his new satire. Here are some of the less offensive examples, many apparently written with the help of his stuffed Funshine bear. The book is well worth the read for a satirical look at race and culture from a black perspective and the odd tidbit of Latin-based silliness.
Semper fi, semper funky
Unum corpus, una mens, una cor, unum amor
Pecunia sermo, somnium ambulo (money talks, bullshit walks) - Funshine bear appears to not be the best editor of grammar)
Austerus verpa (strictly dickly)
Factio vestri aevum, non vestri calceus amplitudo
Tu dormis, tu perdis
