Super Nova Explosion :

One of the most spectacular events of our universe is the Supernova explosion. So massive is the explosion that for a brief amount of time, the explosion actually outshines the entire galaxy in which it explodes. For a short period of time, a single supernova can easily outshine an entire galaxy of stars, releasing as much energy in a single burst as our Sun will in its entire, 10 billion-year lifespan.

Most chemical elements are made in a supernova. The normal process inside stars, stellar nucleosynthesis, fuses hydrogen to create the elements, from helium through the periodic table to iron. To create the heavier elements through to uranium, however, requires something exponentially hotter and more energetic even than the core of a star – those forces typically found in the instant of a supernova.

Eleanor Lutz is a designer with a molecular biology degree and she made this amazing science infographic about embryogenesis.

Embryogenesis is the process by which the embryo forms and develops. It starts with the fertilization of the egg cell (ovum) by a sperm cell, (spermatozoon). Once fertilized, the ovum is referred to as a zygote, a single diploid cell. The zygote undergoes mitotic divisions with no significant growth (a process known as cleavage) and cellular differentiation, leading to development of a multicellular embryo.
