Have fun, and only do it if you really want to!

Also exscuse my “normal” pic, I have no editing skills
rising signs when drunk
  • Aries: loud af, super fun, changes the music and dances by themselves, sometimes a bit of a dick (in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE), makes everyone dance with them, the one usually to come up with an idea to ride down a hill on some cardboard they found (SO FUN), probs will steal a sign
  • Taurus: probs drunk eating or hanging out in the kitchen, always on the look out for food or a snuggle, really well dressed and presented, super touchy and affectionate (often they're not super affectionate), SUPER giggly lmao, almost a mom-friend but if you're not a CLOSE friend they rly will not give a fuck, will very likely take off their clothes bc they feel so restricted
  • Gemini: giggly as hell, absolute SHIT talker, could probably win a debate with their confidence when drunk, tends to like run away, ditzy and off the planet entirely, somehow manages to talk with everyone at the party, doesn't really remember their names, accidentally flirty but only bc they are on their own level
  • Cancer: Super mom-friend if you're a close pal, will not give a fuck if you're not close, really loves food, tends to be super fun and captivating, really social and flirty, doesn't take it anywhere though so when it gets more than flirty they kinda just... leave that situation, can get offended rly quickly but also as quickly is laughing in the centre of the room
  • Leo: the organiser, lights up the party when they walk in, everyone is playing drinking games around them, always dressed on-POINT, laughs really loud, NEVER empty handed, always chatting to a group of people really animatedly, will find/swap clothes with someone by the end of the night, first one to get everyone to do shots for the night, forward rolls away from a bad convo, life of the party
  • Virgo: tries to look after everyone at first, makes sure they're comfortable, really sweet and caring, then gets absolutely smashed, talks shit and gets super direct, tells people they're wrong and corrects them in a hilarious way, doesn't shut up when they get started, makes sure everyone is super drunk and having fun, will be the one to hold back hair even if they just threw up
  • Libra: will touch EVERYTHING, super flirty and huggy, friends with everyone in a charming way, has control of the music ALWAYS and will complain when it's shit, somehow has everyone's details by the end of the night, HILARIOUS, talks really fast when they get excited, makes people chug their drinks and starts a chant off, usually ends up hooking up with someone at the end of a night
  • Scorpio: magnetic as hell, super dark and sarcastic at the beginning, cynical and observes, then decides who the fun people are at a party and gets LOOSE AS HELL, seductive and a smooth talker, will definitely bring someone home with them, gets someone's number, dances on the tables, sings/raps a song surprisingly perfectly, charming and witty, super funny
  • Sagittarius: omg life of the party with leo rising, does literally their own thing 100% of the time, gets on their own buzz entirely, makes a brand new friend group and runs off with them during the night, might just run off in general, makes a speech early in the night, makes the FUNNIEST jokes, can talk about politics and also absolutely nothing within the same conversation, always with a drink
  • Capricorn: witty and observant at first, then comes out of their shell and a completely different side to them emerges, will leave mid convo if it's boring, is sarcastic and loud, starts running around and somehow gets the energy of 5 billion condensed suns, gets really confident, speaks and laughs loudly
  • Aquarius: SOCIAL AS HELL, big arms and wild movements, always dresses so uniquely and cool, deeply involved in all drinking games, always ends up scoring more alcohol somehow (it's often given to them), takes a heap of selfies but immediately deletes them if they look slightly bad, will not ever stop talking
  • Pisces: absolutely wildly silly, laughing super hard on one side, and then mid-conversation sprints into another bc they like what they're talking about more, sometimes has a break where they suddenly get sad or mad, but then immediately reverts back to their cloud 9 state, gets a shitload of energy, meets everyone in the party and almost immediately forgets their name, always gets super drunk, passes out, wakes up and keeps going

On the subject of old events, does anyone else remember the Lock Capsule? What was even up with that?

If y’all don’t know what I’m referring to, let me explain. The Lock Capsule was a special event key item in HGSS and BW that was never used. Like not even in Japan. The idea was to have people send this item from HGSS to BW and it’d give them a TM (TM95, Snarl). Sounds straightforward, right? Nope. It was ridiculous. It was nothing but bad ideas and horrible planning.

Let’s pretend we’re an average player without a guide on how to do this whole thing. (Honestly, without a guide, we’re screwed by step 2, but go with me here.)

First of all, it’d have to be sent to HGSS as an event. But in HGSS, the item is absolutely useless - and cryptic. The info just says “A sturdy Capsule that can only be opened with a special key.” This alone would have players searching all over the Johto region looking for this “special key” … but there isn’t one. And there’s not a single clue in the game as to what it’s for, what it does, or how to use it. At all. Nothing. Nada. Null. Zilch.

Then we have BW. Which again for the most part doesn’t mention it at all - unless you have it. And getting it from HGSS to BW is even more absurd. You can’t use the PokeTransfer to send it up - since that only transfers Pokemon. You couldn’t give it to a Pokemon to hold because it was a key item. So, how would you get it there?

You have to use The Relocator, and I’m sure I’ve lost a few of you here. What’s The Relocator? It’s a very special feature of BW. Why don’t you know about it? Because the game fails to really mention that it even exists until you unlock it. And unless you know EXACTLY what you’re doing, there’s no way you can unlock it. You have to find an otherwise totally useless and cryptic NPC in Castelia talking ambiguously about a “special machine” he invented and tell him a specific phrase - “everyone happy, simple connection.” And let’s all be honest with ourselves: at this point, none of us are happy, and this is anything but a simple connection. So he can go take a long walk off a short cliff.

Alright, well, now maybe the game will tell us a little more about the Lock Capsule, or at least the Relocator? Hardly! He only says the Relocator is for “special pokemon and items,” and doesn’t tell you where to find it or how to use it. So again, we’re left clueless. What we actually gotta do is save and restart, and then select The Relocator on the main screen. Which is located at the very bottom of the pre-game menu, so unless you’re looking for it, you’ll probably never see it. As soon as you start it up, it - without any explanation - attempts to open DS wireless communication. At that point, it acts much like PokeTransfer - it tells you to grab your second DS with any 4th gen game inserted and go to Download Play. Except, unlike PokeTransfer, The Relocator can only transfer five every specific things: a shiny event Raikou, Entei, or Suicune, a 4th gen event Celebi, or the Lock Capsule. Oh, by the way, it doesn’t tell you any of that. If you have none of those, it will simply tell you nothing can be relocated. Even if you do have one of those, it doesn’t even tell you it relocated them, it just cryptically says the relocator will close.

Also, the aforementioned Raikou, Entei, Suicune, and Celebi (which are used for the Zoroark and Zorua cutscenes) could be transferred by the normal no-need-to-unlock-in-a-very-odd-and-unknowable-way PokeTransfer and still work fine for those cutscenes. (I wasn’t 100% sure on this, but since posting this I’ve had it verified by others.) Also because The Relocator doesn’t tell you exactly what can be relocated. there’s no way to know it can relocate the Lock Capsule, unless you’re Relocating with a game of HGSS that already has one. That’s it! That’s the only way!

Okay, let’s say you’ve now gotten to this point. You’ve relocated the Lock Capsule. Now what? Right, the item description says it can only be opened with a special key. Time for another key hunt! … or not! Because again, there’s no key! At all! Instead, you have to take it to another random, otherwise useless, completely no hints as to what he really does for you NPC in Castelia. The game, AGAIN, gives you no hints. At all. If you talked to the NPC before getting the Lock Capsule, he simply mentions he picks locks. That’s it. But even if you did talk to him before, you probably forgot all about him, because he’s just a useless NPC on a random floor of a building in the biggest city in Unova.

What’s your reward for all this? The TM for Snarl. And since the Lock Capsule was never released, no game of BW can legitimately have all TMs. Whoops! Also, because GameFreak never deletes items from their games, it’s still a dummied out, non-functional, unobtainable key item. Yeah. Even in Sun and Moon. It’s still there. It’s just hidden away.

So basically, they never did this event because it’d need to come with a highly detailed guide on how to use it. Amazing.

anonymous asked:

What's the difference between all the sabers/arturia's? (Ex: saber Lily, saber Nero,)?

the original saber and what people usually refer to when they say ‘saber’. her identity is arturia pendragon, or king arthur except a girl basically.

saber alter. arturia but with depression. lacks ahoge and has lighter hair.

santa alter. saber alter but pretending to be santa.

saber lily. arturia but young and idealistic. doesn’t actually make canon sense but its ok because she’s cute. wears ponytail instead of braided bun and ahoge points up instead of down.

saber lancer and saber lancer alter. arturia but in a different class. saber and lancer are both class names so that terminology doesn’t actually work normally but ‘saber’ has become synonymous with arturia at this point. has longer bangs and also huge boobs for bullshit reasons.

saber nero, or red saber. her identity is nero claudius caesar augustus germanicus. unlike with arturia they didn’t even come up with an excuse for why she’s a girl. her hair is more vibrant gold and the bangs make that arc at the top.

nero bride. also called saber bride. the game insists that this is a completely normal bridal outfit.

saber of red. not to be confused with red saber. her identity is mordred. i don’t think there’s really an excuse for why she’s a girl either we just roll with it at this point. probably the only saberface who has a good reason to be one. has spikier hair and braids on the sides.

sakura saber. her name is okita souji. literally completely unrelated to all other sabers. no explanation whatsoever for why she’s a girl. made as a joke but well liked nonetheless. hair is pinkish and shorter in the back than the others.

mysterious heroine X. originally from an old aprils fools joke. her goal is to destroy all saberfaces. literally just arturia wanting to get rid of the competition.

mysterious heroine X alter. we just roll with it at this point.

So there’s a moment I’ve been wanting to talk about in Extra Game. There are five seconds left on the clock, Akashi is facing down Nash, and he doesn’t think he can make it.

When Kuroko pops out and steals the ball from behind Nash, thus saving the game:

This moment is interesting to me specifically because of Nash’s power, Demon Eye.

Demon Eye allows Nash to see the whole court and every player with the precision of Akashi’s Emperor Eye (it’s ridiculous and I love it). But what else do we know about Nash’s Demon Eye? Very little – Extra Game was very compressed, and didn’t waste much time explaining it. However, we do know about Akashi’s Emperor Eye.

Now, the showdowns between Akashi and Kuroko are little to none. Akashi doesn’t ankle break Kuroko, and Kuroko doesn’t attempt to use misdirection on him (personally, I always thought it was meant to imply their abilities didn’t work on each other, or weren’t useful). There is, however, one notable exception – the only time we ever see Kuroko steal a ball from Akashi. Kuroko’s Quasi Emperor Eye.

According to the rules established in-universe, the only way Kuroko can steal a ball from Akashi is using QEE; so, in order to do the same to Nash, he must use at least QEE to get the ball. And the only person he could have been using that ability with here was Akashi.

Hence: Kuroko has used Quasi Emperor Eye with two people only – once against Akashi, and once with Akashi. Kuroko is so in tune with Akashi in this moment he’s able to predict his movements faster than Akashi himself can. As the manga put it,

“It’s not something [Kuroko] can use on his opponents. He can only use this on his teammates, with whom he’s devoted so much time to building up trust with. However, it’s because he has that trust… that he can see into the future, an instant farther than even Akashi.”

Okay, so Yuuri’s hobby is gaming.

Has there been art done of him playing video games? Is there an artist somewhere who also finds the idea of Yuuri gaming in baggy house clothes, thick socks, in the zone and ignoring a whining Viktor in the background cute as hell?

PLEASE I NEED THESE THINGS.

For some reason, I imagine Yuuri to be a console gamer? I think we have only seen him with his laptop, but still, I don’t know. Somehow I imagine him playing solitary games and RPGs. He probably tried MMORPGs, I guess. While I think Yuuri would get stressed out by the demands of real-time gaming - not to mention the weird-ass angry players… yeah, I’m looking at you Russians - it’s also fun to imagine him as that Asian kid with a strong af high-level mage trouncing everyone else. But maybe his one true online friend is Phichit, lol.

Plot twist: Yuri Plisetsky is an Angry Russian Gamer™ and probably encountered Yuuri at some point online without either of them knowing.

Cheryl loved Jason. What was she meant to do at his funeral, not cry? And yeah Jason was on the football team but Cheryl was at every game too doing as much to help the Bull Dogs win as he did. Also she has a 4.0 grade point average. If there’s one thing I’ve learned being in Cheryl’s class it’s don’t underestimate her. And don’t bet against her.

Alright, so, I’ll start this off by saying I am honestly not an expert on Kakyoin, contrary to popular belief (I’d actually consider myself more of an expert on Jotaro’s character, if anything), but I’m going to do my best to give my views on Kakyoin’s character, as well as some canon evidence to support it, and hopefully it will help a bit.

If you want a great reference of how to write Kakyoin in fic, go read Sand, sand and more sand on AO3, because it’s honestly one of the best depictions of Kak I’ve ever read, and he’s quite close to canon.

*ahem*

Kakyoin is pretty snarky. He’s subtle about it, but he’s also kind of a shithead. He’s polite most of the time, but it seems to be more of a setting he defaults to when he doesn’t feel entirely comfortable around the people he’s with. We have quite a few quips from him as examples of this, such as him laughing at andd mocking Anne during the dark blue moon arc, and saying she couldn’t possibly be the stand user on board, and in the Geb and N'Doul fight where he orders Polnareff to attack the canteen because he “doesn’t want to”. He also at one point responds to Polnareff saying “this looks bad!” with, “well it most certainly isn’t good.”

He’s blunt, but this also means that he’s honest. He dislikes liars, and prefers that everything is set out before him clearly and plainly as opposed to someone that is clearly dancing around the subject.

He also seems like quite the know-it-all, and likes being right; and he’s probably the type to argue with someone even if he knows he’s wrong. He seems to genuinely enjoy teaching the crusaders about the culture of all the places they visit on their journey, and he has the ability to retain all of that information to recant to them, as well. It seems to be somewhat of an interest of his.

And then there’s this, of course…

The cherry thing is something that kind of bothers me in fandom and fic. Yes; Kakyoin says that cherries are his favourite fruit. Child Kakyoin has cherries on his shirt (keep in mind that the scene with child kakyoin is added in my DavidPro and is not technically canon). BUT, it doesn’t mean that he has to have everything cherry-related. It’s a seriously overused trait in fandom to the point that it just becomes annoying. Kak can have a coffee without it having to be cherry flavoured. Just remember that he canonically enjoys lots of different foods, and that he doesn’t need to exclusively eat cherries and cherry flavoured things. He probably likes to eat foods from all different cultures.

Video games: There is evidence to suggest that Kakyoin spends a LOT of time playing F-Mega, however, this doesn’t mean that his extreme knowledge of the tracks and mechanics applies to every video game in existence. He’s a teenager, with no friends in the 80’s, of course he’s going to spend time playing video games. But back in the 80s, people often only had one or two games, so it’s likely that he has simply replayed F-Mega a LOT, to the point of knowing it by heart. I know the levels of Mario 3 extremely well, simply because I played them over and over again as a kid. If you are fixated on a single game for extended periods of time (especially if it’s the only game you own), you are of course going to know the game well. Knowing a lot about a single game does not mean that he’s obsessed with video games, and does not necessarily mean that he’s a shut-in, and never goes outside.

Also keep in mind that he says that he’s “pretty good at video games”. He doesn’t claim to be great at them, and since we’ve already established that Kakyoin is quite blunt, it would be out of character to assume that he’s being humble here. He literally means that he’s just “pretty good” at them. No more, no less.

His real-world experience is vast, and it’s also mentioned that his parents take him many places on vacation. He’s been to a lot of places, and retains cultural knowledge. It’s not as if he’s read it in books: he’s actually been to these places before, and he mentions it frequently. This suggests that he gets out quite a bit, and also kind of suggests that maybe he isn’t quite the model student type in school.

Kakyoin doesn’t appear to be the honours student & straight A’s type. He doesn’t think twice about skipping out on his new school to travel to Egypt, and as I said before, his knowledge appears to come more from first-hand experience rather than school studies (and I bet he missed more than a few of his classes due to the trips that he and his parents took). He’s a know-it-all, but it doesn’t mean that he does well in school.

On the other hand, Jotaro IS a model student, despite his delinquent status. It’s more likely that Jotaro would be the one helping Kakyoin with his homework.
(He might disrespect his teachers, but he still gets good grades, and let’s not forget that he becomes a marine biologist later in life.)

Kakyoin’s profile also mentions that he “appears very effeminite”. This is another thing that is often misinterpreted. His appearence may be somewhat feminine, and he takes pride in how he looks, but his personality and mannerisms are not inherently feminine.

He hates being forced into submission, and this is the reason why he despises Dio so much. Dio took advantage of his vulnerability and the fact that Kak didn’t have any friends to use him as his pawn. He drew Kak in, made him feel wanted, needed, and then took control of his mind and body.

“He appears to be very effeminate. In reality, he despises submitting to people or sucking up to them.” - Taken directly from his canon personality description.

Another thing that people seem to miss is the fact that he’s extremely sadistic. He says himself that Heirophant “loves nothing more than to rip things to shreds” and that it might “drive him mad with joy”. He likes being in control of the situation, remember. He probably hates losing fights, as well (especially since he could be considered a weakling for losing).

Kakyoin also seems to like Baseball, judging by his profile naming a favourite team, and sumo, as we all know from his exchange with Jotaro.

One of the things that fandom does definitely get right, is Kakyoin being the mother hen of the group. He’s taken on the role of the responsible one, because Joseph is… far from being an adult. He’s strategic and thinks everything out logically, and so is the mature one of the group, especially after Avdol’s “death”. He appears to be content to follow Joseph, but when it’s needed, he steps up and becomes the leader in his place. This is seen when Jotaro, Joseph and Polnareff start physically fighting random men that they suspect are the one in the Wheel of Fortune car, to which he says that, “this is not a good idea,” and that it’s, “getting out of hand”. It’s also seen in the tower of grey fight where he mentions that it’s better that he fights on the plane, because he’s the least destructive of the bunch (even though he’s capable of blasting holes into clock towers, apparently his emerald splash isn’t destructive; okay Kak…).

He’s also fiercely protective of his friends, and extremely loyal as well. Kakyoin isn’t the type to abandon his friends in any circumstance.

He’s a CASANOVA. While Jotaro draws more unwanted attention from girls due to his bad boy façade, Kakyoin is slick and smooth with them, so much so that they notice him more over Jotaro. He’s quick to diffuse the situation when Jotaro pushes the girls aside (again, in the tower of grey arc), and it’s just… yes.

Just look at this. You can bet your ass he’s not the type to blush and stutter as he’s confessing. Straight up grabbing the girl and apologizing for Jotaro. Smooth as butter.

Here are some other scenes that might be able to explain his character a bit better as well:

Mouthing off to Joseph- Jotaro approves.

This line is wonderful. (Again, to Joseph? It’s almost like they have this kind of rivalry going on, haha)

Some really good insight to his character and motivations (And one of my favourite Jotakak moments).

The anime kind of makes this out to be a sort of “Kakyoin mocking Polnareff” scene, but in the manga he seems like he’s just stating what he heard. Pretty matter-of-fact about the whole situation.

Unimpressed.

I believe that this is the first moment that Kakyoin really realizes that he and any of his companions can die at any moment. Avdol has been shot, and he’s in complete shock. This is a normal teenager that’s now painfully aware of the danger he’s putting himself in to help out Jotaro and Joseph. Sure, he realized that he would be involved in fights, and a little blood would be shed for the greater good, but I don’t think he had realized up to this point that he might actually die.

And here’s Kakyoin’s character bio.

It’s also notable that he didn’t tell his parents where he was going prior to leaving. This doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s in bad standing with his parents (especially since his dying thoughts were of them), and could possibly be because he didn’t want to worry them, or something of the sort, but the fact remains that he didn’t tell them beforehand. Take from this what you will.

So yeah, this is what I get from Kakyoin. He’s kind, loyal to a fault, and deeply in love with Jotaro– and he’s a pretty complex character to write. Don’t feel like you need to take all of this into account, because it’s hard to keep his entire character intact with fanfiction. A lot of his personality comes across in facial expressions, so it’s sometimes difficult to translate that into non-visual media. Just refer back to canon if you aren’t sure of something, and you should be fine. Good luck!

this was the first PS1 game box art I ever saw and was also my introduction to the speculative world of 3D gaming. up until this point I’d only played a few games on my game boy and some sega megadrive games, and i found everything about this bewildering.

when i was a kid i interpreted crash bandicoots design as being a devil for some reason, and i also thought he looked really horny. i didn’t really have a fully formed understanding of why people had sex because i was 8, but his facial expression and the fact that he’s shirtless just made him look like a pervert and a fiend to me. sonic was totally naked but if he only wore trousers and nothing else the lack of the rest of his clothes would be more apparent. i also remember the advertisements at the time saying you could cheat in this game (it might have been crash team racing actually) and i was really worried by how unwholesome the whole thing seemed.

my first ever video game was pokemon yellow, a game which opens up with you in your bedroom, and you’re able to go downstairs and talk to your mum, which is something i could do in real life too, but this presented an entirely new and unfamiliar experience that thoughroughly haunted me.

everything else about this box art was frightening to me because so many things are happening. tiny tiger at the back especially, who not knowing anything about him, i just assumed he was some kind of orange orc or ogre with a tank for a lower body, the position of his cannon only furthering the very rowdy atmosphere i was imaging this series to contain. cortex being knocked away by coco riding a polar bear, an event that seemed to have nothing to do with the tank vs pogo stick action taking centre stage here, made my young mind really overwhelmed by just the thought of 3d gaming, which took me about a year to actually get over.

at some point i played a crash team racing demo disk at a friends house, and i was very hesitant because of my very negative image of the series, but i ended up really enjoying it, and eventually got my own PS1 so i could play the full game and the rest of the crash bandicoot games, i had a weird fixation on the character “dingodile” for a few years which i don’t have any real explanation for.

Just a heads up that Steam Summer Sales means RPG Maker software are at semi-affordable prices, in case you missed their humble bundle packs. >u>

So right now:

  • RPG Maker 2000: Originally $25, currently $5
  • RPG Maker 2003: Originally $20, currently $3 (yes, RPG maker 2003 is cheaper than 2000 somehow)
  • RPG Maker XP: Originally $25, currently $5
  • RPG Maker VX: Originally $40, currently $8
  • RPG Maker VX Ace: Originally $70, currently $14
  • RPG Maker MV: Originally $80, currently $28

VX Ace is probably the most commonly used version right now!  This is the one I mainly use, it’s very simple to use and there are thousands of tutorials for it. Most of the scripts you can download to do fancy stuff are for VX Ace. I’d recommend it for adventure/point and click games, but not for actual rpg games (mainly because there are no side battlers unless you download a script for it)

You can get RPG Maker VX Ace Lite for free, and there’s no time limit. You can make your own games, but you can’t make them for profit and you have less resources.

Note that RPG Maker VX Ace and RPG Maker MV are pretty much the same, but MV fixes a lot of stuff that was wrong with Ace (side battlers are back along with an extra layer) and lets you port to mobile devices. It also allows you to have the game on a website since it makes use of Javascript instead of Ruby (basically get MV if you have experience using RPG Maker, hated VX Ace, plan to make a game for Android or iOS, or if you are experienced in Javascripting). Also, MV’s tiles are bigger!

Out of the most affordable ones, XP is very similar to VX Ace and has a straightforward layering system and easy fog effects.

Edit: Previously I mentioned this might make XP better than VX Ace in some aspects, but it’s been brought to my attention (thanks @rukomura for pointing it out!) that’s really only the case with the mapping system, and that the event system can be pretty buggy, so take care!

I haven’t tried RPG Maker 2003, but some of the most popular games were made there, like OFFYume Nikki, The Huntress of the Hollow and Pom Gets Wi-Fi so you can still do a lot with it!

And… I actually have no idea about 2000 and VX. If you guys have experience with either, please reblog with more info.  >u>”

I loved "the team try to assume things about neil"!!!! Are you going to write more? I'd love to read more! Anyways, love your writing, stay healthy and have fun writing whatever you want!! 💜💜

I’ve got a couple more asks about this, so there definitely going to be more in the future. Here’s part 2/?

  • Dan has to know how many girls Neil has kissed now that the game’s revealed he’s kissed more than one
  • So she says “Neil Josten has only kissed two girls.”
  • Neil says “Wrong.”
  • Andrew’s eyes are on him even more
  • The team is shocked
  • Neil adds “And I don’t know how many, so counting up like this isn’t going to get you an answer.”
  • Allison insists “I’m calling bullshit. One girl, maybe. But there is no way you’ve kissed so many you lost count. We all saw how smooth you were with Marissa.”
  • But they weren’t all there
  • And they remember that as Andrew asks “Who the fuck is Marissa?”
  • Andrew isn’t jealous
  • He’s annoyed by the number of leftover lies and secrets
  • Nicky eagerly shows off his Neil knowledge and fills Andrew in
  • “She’s a cheerleader who tried to flirt with Neil. I got secondhand embarrassment when he turned her down. It was harsh.”
  • Neil argues “There was no point pretending I’d call her.”
  • Matt asks “Have you ever called anyone?”
  • Neil is offended by the question
  • But like, also, he’s only called his mom, Wymack, and Andrew
  • Andrew asks “What would she want with you?”
  • He means it as a dig and as a genuine question because at that point did Neil even talk about anything other than exy?
  • Neil says “Rumour has it I’m interesting.”
  • Andrew says “So is a trainwreck.”

You know what’s something that I love about the Portal series that sets it apart from a lot of other games?

Portal is, unnecessarily, very musical.

Its a puzzle game, there’s literally no reason for it to be as musical as it is. I’m not just talking about the score, either, though it is incredible. All video games have some kind of music so that you aren’t listening to nothing while you travel around maps and shoot at things. And for RPGs the music is a very important part of storytelling. Undertale did this masterfully.

But I’m talking about how you find easter eggs of turrets singing to each other as a past time, or how one of the loading screens is Potatos lamenting about being thrown down into old Aperture. Music is a theme in the game. Putting aside the music that you test by, these are examples of all the musical encounters you have just by walking around the game without tripping a cut scene. (Though I would like to note that GLaDOS singing the ending credit song for each game was also a very odd path for Valve to take that paid off. )

- Exile Vilify on the radio.

- Still Alive on the radio.

- Turrets practicing ‘Turret Wife Serenade’.

- The companion cube sings a version of ‘Cara Mia Addio’ when you pick it up.

- Funnels have their own music.

- Test Chamber 20 of Portal 2; the laser buttons have rhythm when they’ve all been activated.

- The things that re-direct lasers make their own music too.

- Wheatley plays classical music to try and show off to the player.

- The Announcer plays smooth jazz for you in one of the earlier tests.

I know I’m still missing some, but if you were to take these out of the game nothing would change. They don’t add anything to the story (aside from Wheatley trying to prove he isn’t a moron and failing at it), and some of them are Easter Eggs so you could just as easily miss them. There’s no point to them being there but we love that they are. It adds a character and charm to the game, like the Aperture facility itself is a big orchestra with robots that love to sing.

And it leaks into its fan base, too. We have a Portal 2: Musical that has been performed twice! Harry101UK makes his own original Portal music videos and tracks as a hobby. The Portal Stories: Mel mod not only uses all of its own original music, but it also has hidden musical easter eggs like a radio playing a rock version of ‘Want You Gone’. The most popular Portal fanfiction, ‘Blue Sky’, is named and themed after a song by Electrical Lights Orchestra. It is almost mandatory that if you are to make Portal content the universe you’ve created does not seem complete unless there is at least one hint at its musical themes. (That’s my opinion anyway, I realize the first game wasn’t nearly as crafty with its usage of music as much as Portal 2 was)

I dunno, it was just a thought I was sitting on for a while that I really appreciate the franchise for.

Rising Signs When Drunk

Aries: loud af, super fun, changes the music and dances by themselves, sometimes a bit of a dick (in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE), makes everyone dance with them, the one usually to come up with an idea to ride down a hill on some cardboard they found (SO FUN), probs will steal a sign

Taurus: probs drunk eating or hanging out in the kitchen, always on the look out for food or a snuggle, really well dressed and presented, super touchy and affectionate (often they’re not super affectionate), SUPER giggly lmao, almost a mom-friend but if you’re not a CLOSE friend they rly will not give a fuck, will very likely take off their clothes bc they feel so restricted

Gemini: giggly as hell, absolute SHIT talker, could probably win a debate with their confidence when drunk, tends to like run away, ditzy and off the planet entirely, somehow manages to talk with everyone at the party, doesn’t really remember their names, accidentally flirty but only bc they are on their own level

Cancer: Super mom-friend if you’re a close pal, will not give a fuck if you’re not close, really loves food, tends to be super fun and captivating, really social and flirty, doesn’t take it anywhere though so when it gets more than flirty they kinda just… leave that situation, can get offended rly quickly but also as quickly is laughing in the centre of the room

Sansa Stark does not deserve your hatred

In my last year of school we had to write a character analysis and I decided to write about Sansa Stark. My teacher (who was only a couple of years older than me) was a huge asoiaf fan and he got really excited about it, but I remember him frowning and saying in a perplexed voice, “How can Sansa Stark be your favourite character?”

I looked at him with the same confusion mirrored in my own eyes and replied: “Because she is strong.” That was the first time I realised how hated Sansa was and it really infuriated me and so I decided to show him in my essay why she is my favourite character and honestly I think he got it because I did end up getting a good grade.

The analyse focused on book Sansa but this will focus on show Sansa, and it will probably be a bit of a read.

This here is the very moment I began to like Sansa. This is where she looses her innocence and where her character growth begins. This is when she goes from being a child to a young woman. This is where she wants to kill her Prince Charming and she would have if the Hound had not stopped her. This is also a part many viewers seem to overlook, deciding to still view Sansa as a stupid little girl and that is the problem with those who dislike Sansa, they refuse to acknowledge her growth.

Sorry if this seems random, but I'm just starting to get into Kiribaku, and I'm trying to understand the ship. I can see Kirishima caring about and supporting Bakugou, but is that really reciprocated like it needs to be for there to really be a relationship? Like, Bakugou seems to tolerate Kirishima's presence more than anything, not really enjoying it. What are your thoughts on this?

it depends, in large part, to how much you read into bakugou’s reactions to various situations and people. it’s taken as given that bakugou has never had real peers before entering ua (midoriya and their changing circumstances in relation to one another notwithstanding). so while we’ve seen bakugou with his cronies in the earlier chapters and flashbacks (the kid with the wings, the kid with the extendable fingers), ua is really the first opportunity he has to meet people he is able to recognize as equals. he has various responses to those people, initially— he feels inadequate compared to todoroki, he’s threatened by midoriya’s very existence, he responds with hostility to kaminari’s teasing and asui’s assessments. his default mode is to disregard others, or to respond to them with derision and anger. but this is just an initial matter. over time, his relationships with every single one of his classmates has changed considerably— not just in how he treats them, but in how they see him in turn. and i think that progression is exemplified by his relationship with kirishima.

to break things down a little more—

  • bakugou and kirishima end up together when the class is split up at usj. kirishima explicitly reaches an epiphany about bakugou here— he looks beneath the surface, and reads bakugou’s lack of concern for his classmates as confidence in their abilities. from there, he decides that he’s willing to go along with bakugou’s plan. and i think this is also where kirishima learns to read bakugou, or at least learns that how bakugou comes across and what’s actually motivating him might be quite different. this is important, because throughout the series kirishima is able to sympathize with or understand bakugou at points where other people don’t really bother to try.
  • during the sports festival, bakugou agrees to build a team with kirishima. this is pretty pivotal, because up until this point we’ve only ever seen bakugou react viscerally and negatively to the idea of help. of course, according to the rules of the game, he had to form a team. but kirishima is someone he knows, and who’s quirk he probably actually remembers. after usj, kirishima at least registers on bakugou’s radar. this might seem like the bare minimum of human decency, but remember that bakugou was surrounded by classmates whose names he barely knew. he knows kirishima’s name and respects his strength— a pretty pivotal distinction, coming from bakugou.
  • it’s made clear in the tournament portion of the sports festival that bakugou shows respect to others by giving his all when he faces them in battle. this is his side of his battle with uraraka, and why he reacts so violently when todoroki doesn’t use his full power against him. bakugou offers this same level of respect to kirishima, facing him with everything he has and developing a strategy unique to defeating him. so at this point, bakugou at the very least respect kirishima.
  • in between the sports festival and the training camp arc, there are a bunch of little moments that show bakugou and kirishima have kept up contact. kirishima invites bakugou along on class outings (even if bakugou doesn’t agree to go), and kirishima asks bakugou to tutor him, and deliberately asks in a way he knows bakugou won’t say no to.
  • this whole time, bakugou is simultaneously softening towards his classmates and building up a lot of resentment about himself and his own perceived lack of growth. he’s more natural when his classmates tease him, he and todoroki have a more amiable relationship, etc. but he’s festering with resentment and doubt this entire time, and i think that’s pivotal to reading his character.
  • during the training camp arc, kirisihima freaks out when he realizes bakugou is the villains’ target. he’d probably be similarly affronted if any of his other friends were threatened, given his backstory, but bakugou does seem to be someone particularly important to him. he takes his inability to protect bakugou as an indictment of his own character, to the point where he works with todoroki to engineer an illegal rescue operation.
  • the hideout raid/kamino ward arc is probably the defining bakushima moment in canon, up to this point, but it’s also the part of canon that best addresses your question. what does bakugou think of kirishima? he sees kirishima as an equal. as far as we know, he hasn’t given that distinction to anyone else, ever. midoriya knows bakugou won’t respond to him as an equal, and also dismisses putting yaoyorozu or iida in that role. he also doesn’t ask it of todoroki, who ostensibly has a good relationship with bakugou at this point. kirishima is explicitly called out, by the most observant character in the series (and also the character who has observed bakugou for his entire life), as the one person who has built an equal relationship with bakugou. a relationship that allows for challenges and teasing, but also camaraderie and mutual respect. this is like, pivotally important. we do not have on-the-page evidence of bakugou giving that level of respect and care to anyone else.
  • bakugou takes kirishima’s hand, and that’s a turning point in an arc that could have turned out very differently otherwise.
  • during the license exam arc, kirishima chases after bakugou (along with kaminari), and they both look specifically happy to be fighting side by side. their teamwork is old hat, by this point. they’re comfortable around each other and work well together, in various combinations of larger teams. this arc may have been the last time we’ve seen bakugou smile that triumphantly? and it’s with kirishima by his side, for what that’s worth. kirishima, kaminari and bakugou are all friends by this point, even if bakugou still isn’t particularly effusive.
  • and then, during the internship arc, which is specifically kirishima-focused, we see kirishima airing his own insecurities to a group of the 1a boys. (and bakugou is casually and comfortably among them! they’re in a dorm, if he was just tolerating their presence in class he could go up to his room and avoid spending any more time with them. but he doesn’t.) when kirishima voices these insecurities, bakugou gets angry not at him, but on his behalf. he tells kirishima how he views kirishima’s specific strength, and again expresses how much he respects kirishima. this is a big deal for bakugou, who has only ever reacted to others’ strength with challenge or insecurity, before. he admires kirishima’s strength without being threatened by it— not because kirishima isn’t strong enough to be a threat, but because their relationship has so many other layers and a level of comfort, at this point.

anyway, there’s probably a lot i’m forgetting, here. but the takeaway is that bakugou and kirishima’s relationship as equals and friends has been very deliberately built up and carefully tracked throughout the series. they both have important relationships outside of each other, but it’s clear that their development hinges on each other in many ways, too. bakugou has expressed care and concern over kirishima in ways he hasn’t for basically anyone else (other than all might). he cares about how kirishima views himself, because he has deigned to see kirishima as an equal. and that’s pretty significant.

because bakugou doesn’t respond typically to people, it can be hard to read his reactions for what they are. but the series is deliberate and careful about how bakugou categorizes people and what they mean to him. his own emotional language is consistent, if not particularly typical. so through that lense, kirishima’s importance to him is stated pretty clearly. even if he doesn’t show affection or care in the same way as other people, he still expresses those emotions. and kirishima has been set up as a character who knows how read bakugou’s reactions and expressions of emotion.

it’s easy enough, from there, to bridge the gaps and see bakugou’s feelings however you wish. but he definitely doesn’t just tolerate kirishima. it’s a relationship meant to specifically illustrate how differently bakugou is able to see and treat people now that he’s changed as much as he has.

How The AD Reveal Should Have Gone (Alex's Backstory)

When Alex left her adopted home, she begged/borrowed/stealed/etc enough money to get to the states in order to find her real parents. During this time, she met Wren, and he became infatuated with her. This was 2 years before Ali disappeared.

Alex, at first, thought Jessica was Mary. She visited the DiLaurentis household and explained who she was and the horrible life she had endured. Jessica played the part of Mary, internally freaking out about the amount of chaos Alex’s reveal would undoubtedly cause.  She put Alex up in a hotel room while she asked her to be patient as she got up the nerve to explain to her family about Alex’s existence.

At this point, Alex was not aware that she was a twin, let alone that her twin lived next door to her “Mom”.

Jessica immediately went to Peter, and the two of them devised a plan. Jessica would use her authority on the board at Radley to commit Alex as someone with multiple personality.  Peter, being genetically related, signed Alex in as “Bethany Young”.  They used Alex’s true back story (one which Alex originally had no problem agreeing to) as proof that she had a mental break, complete with accent.

Once Alex/Bethany was in Radley, Jessica kept tabs on her, and after the mind numbing drugs kicked in, would occasionally take Alex/Bethany on outtings. This is when she would insist Alex call her “Aunt Jessica”.  This was also why Jessica had told Ali you can “never turn your back on a Hastings”, because she was well aware that she could never share her knowledge of Alex’s existence, and if Ali had ever seen Alex, she would think she was Spencer.

There were a few times that Alex/Bethany was able to escape.

The first time was Ian’s Halloween party.  While there, she overheard Noel talk about his and Ali’s plan to scare the girls.  At this point, she hadn’t yet seen Spencer.  Alex had fuly intended to severely hurt/kill Ali in that abandoned house, though Ali was stronger that she thought.  Once the girls were freed from the locked room, Alex finally saw Spencer and she seethed with rage. She realized the true reason behind Jessica betraying her, and instead of leaving town, as she had originally planned, she opted to go back to Radley and devise a new plan.

Before she did, she befriended Ian, who was a member of the NAT club.  At that point, she both flirted with Ian, as well as paid him with money provided by Wren, and convinced him to film Alison and her friends. He didn’t understand why “Spencer” wanted to be filmed, though Alex incorporated it as part of her flirting, telling Ian she wanted to see how Ian saw her in his eyes.

Alex’s first priority, however, was still hurting Ali.  Alex/Bethany would never forgive Jessica for having her wrongly commited.  She starts writing to Ali, although when Ali visits Radley to see her, Alex has her roommate(Kimberly Brown) pretend to be “Bethany”.  Ali, being the mean girl she was at the time, enjoys playing with her new toy.

When Ali begins to get “A” messages (from Mona), she begins to wonder if it isn’t Bethany sending them.  She antagonizes Alex/Bethany through letters and “visits”, making things even worse than the already are.  At the same time, Ali isn’t completely certain that “Bethany” is behind the threats, so after receiving the lipstick note on the mirror, she devies a plan to either expose Bethany or have her take her place.

Ali drops of an exact duplicate of her outfit at Radley, with a note for Bethany to escape and come meet her so they can finally work things out.  Ali figures she and Bethany can either hash things out for good, or that if someone is trying to kill her, having Bethany run around dressed as she is hedges her bets a little bit in case it is someone else threatening her.

At this point, Alison believes that the other Liars are innocent, and not the ones leaving messages.  That said, she can not have them in her way for all that is about to go down that night.  So, she drugs them.

Meanwhile, Jessica receives a phone call that Alex/Bethany has escaped.  She freaks out, and forbids Alison from leaving the house at all.

Spencer and Ali argue.  Ali walks back towards her house and Spencer walks towards the woods/house.  Melissa hears heard the argument between Ali and Spencer, as do the girls (Aria, Hanna, and Emily), in a drug induced haze. The girls arrive in the bushes in time to see someone dressed like Ali, hit Alison. Mrs. D also sees Alex hit Ali from the window.  Mrs. D rushes from the house as Alex runs away.  The girls, again drugged, begin to chase Ali’s assailant.

Mrs. D, believing Ali dead, buries her.  Mrs. Grunwald pulls Ali from the grave. The girls, chasing Alex through the woods, finally lap back around to the gazebo area and attack Alex.  As they begin to attack her, they start to hallucinate that it is Alison, and finally stop.  They leave Alex’s lifelss body in the gazebo area, and Melissa stumbles across it.  Seeing only the clothes and hair, Melissa thinks Spencer killed Ali, and buries her to hide the evidence.

At this point, Alex’s roommate, Kimberly Brown, who had escaped from Radley with Alex, leaves their meeting spot and comes looking for Alex to figure out what is taking so long.  She sees Melissa burying Alex, and as soon as Melissa leaves, she digs out the grave and saves Alex.

As it turns out, this was the worst mistake Kimberly could have made.  Alex, now set on burning down everything to do with Spencer, and the other liars, kills Kimberly Brown on the spot, switches clothes with her, and buries Kimberly in the grave.  That way, when her body is found, no one will expect she is alive and able to exact revenge.   At this point, Alex still believes she has killed Alison.

Mona sees Ali walking along the road, sends her out of town.  Ali knows for sure that someone is out to kill her, and that her Mom buried her without hesitation.  There is no reason to stay.

Alex then spends the next year devising a plan to get revenge on the liars for trying to kill her.  She enlists Wren to start dating Melissa, to get his way into the Hastings trust, and to learn more about Spencer.  As it turns out, Wren starts falling for Spencer, which only makes Alex hate Spencer more.

She starts communicating (electronically) with Mona, Lucas, and Jenna, who she learned from the NAT tapes had hated Ali as much as she did, as was also picked on by the liars.   When Aria returns to Rosewood, Alex gently nudges Mona to start sending A messages to the girls again.  She tells Mona that she will be an outcast agin, now that the Liars will be together again. In essence, she sets Mona free on the girls to torture them, knowing at some point she will escalate the game to her own level.

When she notices the DiLaurentis house is sold, and that workers start to dig around the gazebo area, she knows she will need to get ahold of that body to switch around medical records.  “Bethany Young” has to remain dead, or Jessica and/or Peter might start searching for her.   She pays off some cops and people in the morgue and is able to alter paperwork, and steal the body.

She noticed Jessica and Charlotte together, and eventually figures out how Charlotte fits in to the story.   When she first approahces Charlotte, Charlotte does not believe her.  She thinks it is Spencer trying to figure out where Ali is, if Ali is alive, and that she still wants to find her and hurt her.  Once Alex gains Charlotte’s trust, and Charlotte realizes how awful Ali was to Alex, Charlotte becomes a double agent, though doesn’t immediately tell Alex that Ali is still alive.  (Alex is still wondering what happened to Ali’s body)

Alex tries to burn the girls to death in the lodge fire, and that is the night she realizes Ali is still alive.  However Ali goes immediately back into hiding.  Alex then spends Season 4 trying to find Ali, and using the Liars to do so.   It is Alex that kills Mrs. D, and Mary takes the fall for her (as she did for Spencer with Eliot)  Once Alex heard thought Mona (via Shana) that the girls found Ali, Alex knew that Mrs. D that had to die, because Alex couldn’t have Mrs. D spilling the secret that Spencer had a twin.

Alex has also realized that Charlotte had been lying to her about Ali, and that is why Charlotte agrees to “take the fall” as Big A- to protect Alex.  Season 5 up to Charlotte’s reveal is about laying the groundwork to have Charlotte take the fall with everything wrong done towards the girls.  At this point, Alex is mostly done with revenge, and just wants to live her life out with Wren, Mary, and eventually Charlotte (once she is released).

Then Charlotte is killed, and Alex is denied her family.  She thinks one of the Liars did it, though doesn’t know which one.  She enlists the help of Mary, Eliot (Charlotte’s true love), and Wren to help figure out who killed Charlotte.

Then… Alex starts to fall for Toby.  While Alex had never really been jeaous of Spencer’s life before (I mean, who would with Peter as a father?), she did start to covet Toby.  There were two problems here- Yvonne and Wren.  Alex believed she could deal with Wren, though Yvonne would have to go.  Therefore, she set up the car accident, and while Toby was knocked out (and before help arrived) further injured Yvonne so that her injuries were mortal.

Next, she had to convince Wren that she would kill Spencer, and take over her life, allowing her to be with Toby.  This met with more resistance than she expected, and she eventually killed Wren, worried that he would tip Spencer off.   Alex knows she is playing the long game with this, and uses Aria and Ezra’s wedding (with Toby’s return) as her in to fully take over as Spencer and work toward getting Toby back.

As for Mary, it could go either way as to whether she knew Alex’s ultimate plan to take over as Spencer until the very end.  I am going to say that until Spencer was kidnapped, Mary did not know, and by then, it was too late.

THINGS CAREGIVERS SHOULD HAVE FOR THEIR LITTLES

Stuff caregivers should have on hand when they’re with their little, or when their little is over at their place, etc!

✨ A pacifier, if your little uses them! Sometimes your little can get fussy or maybe just wants to curl up and take a nap, and having a pacifier on hand can be very helpful.

✨ Super cool band-aids with Hello Kitty or princesses or other themes your little likes on their band-aids for when they get boo-boos, no matter how small. (Because all injuries, regardless of whether it’s just a tiny cut, scrape, or bruise, deserve utmost care from Daddy/Mommy, and must be treated with soft kisses and tenderness and covered with only the cutest band-aids! Duh.)

✨ Your little’s favorite juice or drink, as well as a sippy cup (if your little uses sippy cups) to put said drink in! If not, then juice boxes will do, as I believe they work just as well.

✨ A coloring book, as well as utensils to color, such as crayons or colored pencils! (Make sure you know what your little’s preference is when it comes to what they use to color! It’s very important.)

✨ A small stuffie for if your little wants one to hold/cuddle. Personally, I find It’s also smart to keep a few cute stuffies at your place if your little doesn’t live with you, so when they come over, they’re there for them to play with! (Stuffies are also great for aftercare, so if ever needed, they can have stuffies there to cuddle with for that purpose as well.)

✨ Some of their favorite little snacks in baggies! Snacks could be things like pretzels, pieces of cereal, fruit snacks, yogurt chips, pieces of fruits or veggies, crackers, etc.

✨ Some of their favorite candy to give as treats for good behavior! (Clearly, you shouldn’t give them the whole bag at any point– but if they do something deserving of a reward, then you could give them some of their favorite candy!)

✨ If your little is fond of pet-play as well, you could have a collar at your place for them to wear, as well as gear, if they have any! (Ears, tail, etc.)

✨ Some DVDs or tapes of your little’s favorite movies for when they’re in little space! You could also get Netflix if possible; it would be a good platform to have not only their favorite movies, but it’d also let them watch their favorite shows as well!

✨ Games for them to play! If they have a platform they play games on, whether it be a DSI or just their phones, tell them to bring it with them. This way, they’ll have something to do if you’re busy with something you’re working on! (But, if you’re not busy and they still want to play, then you can just keep them company and offer supportive encouragement!)

✨ Super cute stickers! This way, if your little is in the mood, they can decorate your face, pictures they’ve drawn/colored, and anything else nearby!

✨ Your hands, in order to give plentiful pets and rubs and gentle scratchies.

And, finally,

✨ ALL THE LOVE AND ATTENTION YOU HAVE TO GIVEEeeeee

That’s all I can think of, but please feel free to add on to the list if there’s anything else you believe caregivers should consistently possess!

Dogmeat Is A Synth

Okay I know this sounds like a shitpost but I am completely serious. I think I have some solid points, so bear with me.

  • Point 1
    His Role in the Story

Dogmeat is one of 5 companions that the game makes you even interact with before going to the Institute and choosing a faction (the others being Codsworth, Piper, Nick, and Hancock. 6 if you count Deacon), and one of 2 that it makes you bring along in your party for the main story (Nick). Even if you skipped over Red Rocket and went straight to Diamond City, Nick brings him along to track Kellogg and then he becomes available to recruit from there because you missed him before. The game doesn’t start making you take on companions like that otherwise until you start trying to join factions.

  • Point 2
    His Interactions with Other Characters

Speaking of factions, if you do follow him from the gas station to Concord, he leads you to the de facto leader of the Minutemen, the only faction that’s both capable of building the only way into the Institute and also not actively trying to hunt and destroy them. The fact that the person who builds the Minutemen teleporter is a synth is, I’m sure, pure coincidence. Or maybe it isn’t, considering another synth that he’s apparently worked with before is Nick Valentine.

Both Nick and Mama Murphy tell you how he’s not a dog that you own, he’s a dog who chooses his own companions and sticks by them. It’s never said how long. Maybe he just up and leaves one day once he’s bored or not needed, or maybe he sticks around until there’s nobody to stick around with. Mama Murphy has been shown to be under the influence of some kind of chem more often than not (unless you convince her to get clean) and Nick, as shown in Far Harbor, has gaps and faded bits in his memory, so it’s entirely possible that Dogmeat has been around for a really long time to have this reputation, but neither of them has really noticed just how long and how unusual that is.

Who knows? Maybe it’s all coincidental, but that I somehow doubt because…

  • Point 3
    His High Intelligence

This dog is absurdly smart. His Intelligence score is 8, and it shows. Within the lore of the game, 5 is the average for a normal person, 10 is supposed to be the peak human capability. So this dog is not only smarter than the average human, he’s up there with human geniuses. And it shows. He’s capable of understanding more complex commands than canine companions in previous games (which, okay yeah, can also just be put down to better game programming). If we go back to the faction thing again, the other two people besides Sturges that can decipher the blueprints for the teleporter are Tinker Tom, the Railroad genius, and Proctor Ingram, the Brotherhood Scientist. Ingram has had the benefit of training with one of the best technological forces in the wastelands. Tom has had to adapt and learn as a constant trial by fire in going up against the biggest tech behemoth in the Commonwealth. Sturges is a handyman. But all three manage to successfully build the machine from this:

I’m not saying Sturges was only able to build a highly complex piece of machinery from crayon scribbles because he’s a synth, but compared to the other people you run into, synths tend to be more intelligent. So why wouldn’t synth animals be any different?

  • Point 4
    He’s Not Like Other Dogs

What are the odds of running into a perfect purebred German Shepherd in the wasteland? Like, at all? Looking at all the other kinds of dogs you run into…

…the odds aren’t great. You don’t run across a single other dog that looks like him. Every other one you run across is either a grizzled mystery mutt or a heavily mutated monstrosity. Still all cute in their way, but definitely not Dogmeat. In fact, not even the other Dogmeats look like our Dogmeat. Even as far back as the first Fallout, Dogmeat definitely fell under the mutt category.

  • Point 5
    There is Precedent

He wouldn’t be the first synth animal the Institute has made. We all know about the gorillas, and even though dialog from Deacon about the watchers was removed, everything else about them is still there; documented in the Institute terminals and mentioned by more than one of their scientists. So he wouldn’t be the first synth animal created, he wouldn’t be the first sent to keep an eye on Vault 111,

And he wouldn’t be the first to rebel. It’s like Mama Murphy said, “Dogmeat’s his own man. You can’t own a free spirit like him.” He probably stopped responding to Institute commands and was too much trouble to retrieve, reprogram, or reproduce, so they just left him out on the surface. He’d stick with someone for a while, then go back to check near the Vault to see if the Sole Survivor had come out yet, wait a while, then take off if you weren’t there. Which would explain why a perfect, loyal, purebred German Shepherd was so close by as soon as you get out.

  • Point 6
    It Means He’s Immortal

Due to game mechanics, Dogmeat can’t be killed. At all. And unless they’re programmed to, synths don’t age either. So he won’t die of old age. And look at that face.

Who wouldn’t want that?
