Dadvid Appreciation Week 05: Family Holidays

Well, it IS almost Halloween and also I wanted an excuse to finally draw the CC cast in WOY outfits. Also taser joke because…Michael.

This was a FUN day to draw stuff for.

random life tips

hello everyone!! since I’m not a pro at studying (I just do my best) I thought I would share with you some of my go-to tips to have a better day/week/month/life 😊

  • wake up early!! this may seem typical but I used to sleep in a lot and when I started waking up earlier I noticed a big change.
  • clean your face daily! every morning and night clean your face and moisturize. just create a skincare routine and stick to it! also, use a day per week when you have time to relax and put some masks and exfoliate your face and body.
  • this may seem stupid but dress clothes you like and put on some makeup! but most important when you feel like this is not your day. when we’re feeling bad or a little sad we usually throw on some sweatpants & a sweatshirt and don’t use make up and even though it may seem stupid, if you push yourself to wear your favorite outfit or put a little bit of makeup you will see yourself looking better and this will make you feel better during the day (I promise)!!!
  • eat breakfast! brain food guys!!! this is the most important meal of the day. as a Spanish phrase used A LOT by my mom says “eat breakfast like a king, have lunch like a prince and have dinner like a poor man” (desayuna como un rey, come como un príncipe y cena como un mendigo).
  • make to-do lists: yeah, make to-do list for everything you need them! this will help you to do everything you must do without leaving any task (which would happen to me when I didn’t write out what I needed to do)
  • shower every night! okay if you prefer taking a shower in the morning is up to you but showering at night relaxes you and helps you sleep better
  • talk to people everyday (even if it’s your parents) you need to talk guys and tell someone how you feel and what happened during the day (those days I don’t talk to my friends/family I feel super sad and I don’t know why?)
  • listen to music that makes you feel alive!! I have this playlist where I put every song that makes me feel something. I think music is so powerful and can help you change your mood in a few secs
  • go out to nature! since I live in a city it feels super great when I get to spend some time out in the woods or the beach – go running, swim, take a walk or just sit, breath fresh air and enjoy!
  • dance, dance, danceeeeeee!!! hahah it doesn’t matter if your dance moves are worse than a potato but dance, jump and let go!
  • treat yourself with your favorite meal every now and then. I love eating so whenever I get to eat my favorite food it’s a happy day for me hahah :’-)
  • talk to your reflection in the mirror. tell yourself how great is your hair today, how glowy is your skin and how beautiful are you! do it every day, it’ll help 😊
  • sleep enough hours! when I don’t sleep a healthy amount of hours I feel super tired and I get angry super easily, so sleep well and wake up to a beautiful day!
  • journal and write daily or when you feel like you need to! write what you feel, what happened in that day, write your goals, quotes to summarize the day, the dreams you had last night… I don’t know! just let your mind go and write and/or doodle I promise this helps :-)

well I hope this helped at least some of you!! thank you if you’ve read this!! xx

The Real Godsend: Almond Oil

Coconut oil? Nah, man, fuck that. Okay, coconut oil is pretty great, especially for whitening teeth, but let’s talk almond oil.

Benefits and Uses:

This is a perfect face moisturizer if you have dry skin. Unlike coconut oil, this won’t clog your pores. It leaves your skin glowing and even makes it softer, since it contains vitamin E. It also lightens acne scarring.

Almond oil can be used to remove makeup, especially eye makeup and liquid lipsticks. No more rubbing your eyes!

Massage a bit under your eyes before bed. It will reduce dark circles, as well as fine lines.

Use it to treat chapped lips! Personally I prefer to use rosehips oil on my lips, but almond oil works well too.

Use it on your body! Moisturize your hands, feet, and elbows with it. It’s a light oil, so it won’t leave you feeling greasy and it absorbs easily. Almond oil can help prevent and lighten stretch marks too!

Almond oil also promotes hair growth! Use it on your lashes and brows. You can also use castor oil - castor oil is a little heavier than almond oil, so it’s just a preference thing, they work about equally well for me.

Use it in your hair! 1-2x per week, massage a bit into your scalp. It will make your hair more lustrous and it’ll look healthier! Replace any leave-in conditioners with this. Pro-Tip: Try mixing it with olive oil and castor oil in equal parts.

The scent is very light too, it doesn’t even smell like almonds, so don’t worry about the smell. It’s also super affordable. You can buy a 16oz bottle on Amazon for around $10.

Do NOT use if allergic to nuts.

Note: Make sure you are using sweet almond oil.

Sugaring Up-Keep for the Transition From Cute to BOMBSHELL.

*I upgraded my makeup, because my face is my baby and I need no imperfections.
- I’m a darkskinned Black woman with sometimes oily skin; I use Miracle serum before a moisturizer and BOOM! no oily/greasy makeup.

* I bought a few lingerie sets from VS. Just to make myself feel good. Also, a kimono, BECAUSE WHY NOT?

*I bought new outfits from the Sale section at A'Gaci, Charlotte Russe, and FashionNova. If it didn’t fit I sent it back. I picked up accessories from thrift stores. 😁

*Gel nails! Gel nails! Gel nails! With a classic pedicure once a month. Wax every 3 weeks. Eyebrows threaded.

*Brazilian hair - wig acquired; so I don’t have to worry about my own hair.

*I FEEL LIKE A GODDESS! I attribute the first three costs, as a start-up; and then the last 2 are reoccurring monthly fees. I’m a really good financial planner; so I stay ready. I keep tabs of every CENT that goes in and out. I know my monthly goals. I WORK HARD FOR THE MONEY.

*Before I started sugaring, I may have gotten a glance from men as I walked by. Now, they actually stop and stare. Or stop and actually talk to me. At least once a day, a man stops me to tell me, how gorgeous I am. 😭😂

*Moral of the story: to be a vixen, you just need to be cute and then have money. 😂😂😂

*A POT told me last night. He liked the “cute, girl, without makeup, contacts, and a wig.” I told him, I like who I am now. This is who I always wanted to be. I want to be a trophy wife one day. Once I said that. He changed his tune and said if I put my mind to it, EASY MONEY. LMAO.

By the time my shift is over at work I’m like a greasy mess with no blush or highlighter left to be seen
But this combo…. This drugstore combo right here? Kept my shit beat all day. Like I can’t believe I still see blush on my fucking face right now at 5pm with no touch up. Wild.
Also putting powder on your t zone before foundation is the gift of the gods 💕💞💖

I should probably also mention this stuff is dick appointment proof \(*´ ꒳`*)/ so you can do your makeup like a hoe and stay lookin like a hoe

andtremblelikeaflower  asked:

Do you have any recommendations for baby drag kings? I've been thinking of getting into it as of recently but I have no idea where to start

i’m a baby drag king myself! so idk how much help i can be but i’ll try!

I’ve only been officially doing it since like late May.

But if I could offer any advice:

-Come up with a name that sells your drag and is cool to you. It’s literally whatever the fuck you want. If you want your name to be Xerox Copy, Gas Station Bathroom, Salsa Picante, Red Rover, Phlegm, you can do that. There’s no limit here. My name is Andro Gin cause I knew I wanted some masculine liquor in there but I also wanted to showcase like “hey, this will be a meddling of gender and not ‘male impresonation’ ” hence the play on Androgyne. As an androgynous woman, I knew my alter ego would be androgynous aswell to some degree. So yeah, put thought.

-There are a ton of good makeup dupes on amazon that way you’re not spending an arm and a leg. search “flash palette” and the one that’s like appx $15 is the dupe to the $100 makeup forever version. it’s actually amazing. it comes in different colors for you to mix and play with for foundations and shit. I also bought this mass glitter pack on amazon that has literally advanced my drag. glitter, man.

-brushes are important but buying some arts and crafts cheapy ones i never realized would be as helpful as they are cause a lot of the time they come in weird shapes you didn’t realize you needed until you’re putting on makeup.

-If you’re gonna use makeup tutorials that’s fine, but don’t rely on it. i used a couple at first to understand how i would be contouring my face for drag but from then on i kind of just do my own thing. also don’t be pressured to do what it seems like everyone else is doing - there’s no one right way to do drag. it’s intimidating at first but it’s really cool to solidify your own look. i look at photos for inspiration but everything comes out of my own head. figure out what kind of king you are aesthetically and run with it. it’ll take a while for you to figure it out and even then you’re always gonna evolve so enjoy the ride.

-i’d suggest also to learn basic sewing. i’m fortune enough to have gone to theater school where classes like that were mandatory so i have a good foundation on how to construct pieces but only reason i say this is because $$$ and because sometimes let’s say you’re thrifting and there’s a perfect piece but it’s too big, you’d know how to alter it or let’s say your outfit gets fucked up while performing, you’d know how to fix it. etc. get thrifty get crafty

-if you’re gonna be an instagram king and not performing, make sure your looks are that strong. if you are going to be performing, idk how old you are - im assuming of age, go out to the scenes. this is so important. you need to make connections and you need to network otherwise you won’t get booked - especially if you’re new. maybe even go out in drag and have people actually see you, go on instagram and find the people running the party of the night and message them complimenting their work and expressing interest in performing

-Drag is mainstream now but remember, people see you as essentially a glorified gogo dancer. not everyone is gonna see you as an artist esp since half the time we’re performing for tip money. this can be rough cause people get drunk, not everyone is respectful, your gigs will end at 4am so it’s dangerous being in drag outside of the venue at that time - bring people to take you to your car, have weapons etc. you NEED to have a tough skin to do this. I got punched my second time in drag. shit like this happens to every drag queen/king I know. queer people, especially gender bending queer people, are still largely hated by cishet society so you need to protect yourself.

-Also, don’t be afraid to ask about payment. Queens/Kings get paid to perform. Find out how much that usually is depending on the venue so you don’t get swindled etc.

-respect your art, but also know how to entertain a crowd.

-not everyone is gonna like you or get what you do, that’s fine. people will though, and that’s what’s worth it.

-MAKE FRIENDS with other drag queens/kings. they will guide you esp if they see that you have potential. believe me idk where i’d be if it wasn’t for queens I met that are now really good friends of mine that held my hand while i was starting out. These are wonderful people and will be your loudest cheerleaders.

Best of Luck!!!
