Aliens Vs Menstrual

Re-posting this so folks actually see the damn thing.

Please forgive the length… the plot bunny got away from me… very far away from me…

There was blood on the floor.

Avrex blinked and stared at the red droplets on the floor. More red caught xer eye. There was more just under the edge of the seat. As if someone had tried to wipe it up but hadn’t thought to get under the very edge. Only one species on board had red blood.

This had to belong to one of the humans.

But why would blood be here in waste room of all places? Granted, humans were an odd breed, and used the waste rooms for more than the elimination of waste. Some even installed mirrors and extra lights and spent an hour or more in there! But blood? Why here? And why on the waste reclaimer lid? Surely if one of the humans was injured they would go to the infirmary….

…wouldn’t they?

Avrex shook xer scaled head and stalked out of the waste room. Xey would get to the bottom of this.

The humans had been hired three months prior. Two at first. Then another two a month later. And a fifth one a month after that. They were extremely useful, and didn’t really take up much space.

Hunting down any of said humans was a challenge.

Three of the humans were mechanics, and could be found shimmying their slender bodies between various components of the ship to reach the part they desired to work on. Even with an extra set of large eyes, Avrex would often walk right by the little beings, missing their little oil and grease smeared bodies in amongst the equally oil and grease smeared engine components. At a hulking ten feet tall, Avrex often missed the little monsters because they were under something or other.

The massive first officer dismissed the mechanics as a viable first target for questions. Searching through the entrails of the ship for crew members that xey may or may not find was not an effective use of xer energy or time. Xey could always catch the mechanics at the designated meal time if the other two humans couldn’t answer xer questions satisfactorily.

The fourth human was no easier to find. He was a security guard, and could be anywhere on the ship at any given time. Despite the fact that he wasn’t a mechanic, he seemed to share their proclivity for climbing on things, and for crawling into spaces that were inaccessible to most of the rest of the crew.

That left Carl.

Avrex made xer ponderous way down to the metallurgy lab. The human designated as Carl was not like the others. He was much older. The kind, gentle being had been the first human the ship had taken on, and had paved the way for the four other humans that followed. The others respected him greatly, turning to him for wisdom and advice. Surely Carl would have some insight into why there was human blood in the waste room.

Carl was right where he was supposed to be.

Avrex pressed the alert button and patiently waited to be granted entry just outside the lab doors. The request was swiftly answered, the doors sliding open with a soft hiss to admit the ship’s first officer.

Carl had put his work station into a safe position, and turned in his seat to give the hulking alien from Jarrok his full and undivided attention. Avrex had always liked that about Carl. While the human ability to multi-task often came in useful, it was sometimes disconcerting to hold a conversation with a being that never once even glanced in xer general direction while they spoke.

Carl smiled as he stripped of his protective gear. “Avrex. What brings you down here?”

The first officer assumed a parade rest position. “I have a query about human behavior, and had hoped that you could explain.”

The human chuckled and ran a hand through his graying hair. “Well, I’ll do my best. Go on and fire away.”

Avrex paused, then decided to ignore the odd turn of phrase. Experience had shown that large amounts of time were wasted when human parlance was questioned. “I discovered a small amount of blood in one of the communal waste rooms. I am aware that humans use waste rooms for more than their intended purpose, but I am at a loss as to what form of task could take place in a waste room, and possessed the potential to cause injury. The blood was red, thus it can be safely assumed that such belonged to one of the humans on board. But none of the humans have sought out medical aid. If one of my crew is injured in any capacity, as first officer I am entitled to know, so that I may account for such injuries when drawing up the duty roster for the coming cycles.”

The elderly male frowned thoughtfully. “There are a couple things it might be. But I’m not going to stir up panic by picking the wrong one. Which waste room was it you found the blood?”

Feeling dread curdle in xer gut, Avrex gave him the correct room number.

Carl nodded. “Melanie was supposed to be working up near that sector. More’n likely it’s her blood you found. Come on, I’ll walk up with you and help straighten this mess out.” Avrex started to protest. Surely xey could manage without taking Carl away from his work if given the pertinent information. The elderly human shook his head in seeming amusement. “Trust me Avrex, it’s better if I go along. If this is what I think it is, you’d just end up with a very angry or hurt mechanic on your hands.”

The first officer shut xer maw, frilled ears pinned back against the sides of xer head. What could possibly be going on that would result in a human being injured or angry?

Xey walked back down to the correct deck with Carl, deciding to wait and see. If what Xey had heard from other ships was true, an angry human was something to be avoided if at all possible.

Despite the consistent trouble the rest of the crew had in locating the mechanics while about their work in the engines, Carl seemed to have no problem tracking down the correct human.

At his call, she crawled out of a space so tight Avrex wasn’t sure xey could’ve gotten a paw in.

The second human the ship had taken on, Melanie had been hired barely a week after Carl. She was by far the smallest of the humans, and the quietest. Her peers took shameless advantage of her small size, leaving work in the tightest spaces to her. She didn’t seem to mind, preferring to work alone rather than with her group as most humans were purported to do. In fact, with the exception of Carl she seemed to avoid all of her kind for the most part.

The raven haired female flashed her teeth in the odd threat gesture that humans insisted denoted welcome, amusement, or joy.

Melanie wiped her hand on a rag and stuck it out to Carl for a traditional human greeting. “Hey Carl. Did one of your do-dads break down again?”

“Not this time dear.” Carl assured. “The first officer swung by with a question, and it seemed you’d be most likely to have the answer. Seems Avrex swung by the restroom and found human blood on the floor. Any chance you’d know something about that?”

Melanie paled.

The elder human nodded and patted her shoulder, seeming to have derived his answer from her silence. “It’s alright dear, no need to worry. I was married for thirty-five years before cancer took my sweet Belle, and she and I raised six beautiful daughters. There isn’t a thing under the sun I haven’t seen, and I’ve made more trips to the store for feminine things than I could probably count! Do you need any help, or do you have everything in order?”

The young female slowly relaxed at his kindly manner. She shook her head, asserting that she had ‘it’ covered. Avrex shifted xer weight, subtly drawing the humans’ attention back to xer question.

“You’re the only woman on board, Mel. Would you like to explain? Or would you rather I did?”

Melanie’s cheeks started to change color underneath the grease. “I can do it.”

Carl seemed pleased by the answer. “Go get ‘em then. And if you need anything, you go ahead and ask me or Cal. That’s the lad over in security, in case you didn’t know. Lord knows he’s young, but he won’t give you any grief if you need something and can’t get it yourself.”

Calling a farewell, Carl patted Avrex on the shoulder and headed back to his lab, leaving the massive reptilian being towering over the tiny female.

Avrex slowly squatted down as low as xey could manage in an attempt to put her at ease. Xer experience with humans was still somewhat limited, but observation had shown that humans tended to be slightly intimidated by a difference in height.

Her cheeks were changing color again. Looking down, the human female mumbled something at the floor.

Avrex cocked xer head. “Could you repeat that more clearly please?”

Melanie seemed to gather her courage and finally looked the massive officer in the larger pair of xer four amber colored eyes.

“I’m on my period.” The admission made, she seemed to lose some of her discomfort. “It started a few hours ago while I was up in the machinery. I had to climb down and run to the rest roo-damnit, waste room to clean myself up. I’m sorry about the blood, I’ll be more careful in future.”

Avrex cocked xer head. “I do not understand. I was under the impression that ‘period’ is a form of punctuation denoting the end of a sentence. How then, can you be ‘on’ it?”

She stared at xem for a long moment, eyes widening as she slowly seemed to realize that xey genuinely had no idea what she was talking about. “Ok. Um… the word ‘period’ also means a length of time. Human females use the word as slang to talk about a specific time. It’s… God, I can’t believe I’m giving an alien the talk. Ok, so basically…”

Avrex listened in growing astonishment as the little female described a process by which one of her internal organs partially deconstructed itself once a month unless she put it to use in forming a baby. If she was to be believed, it happened once a month from approximately age eleven to age forty to fifty. Admittedly, compared to the amount of blood in the human body the amount lost during one of the episodes she described was relatively small. But, she explained that other fluids were expelled as well, along with pieces of the organ that was shredding and rebuilding itself. The entire process took place approximately every three to four weeks.

Avrex shook xer head. “Shouldn’t such a process be painful?”

Melanie shrugged. “Well yeah. I know some women who stay in bed the entire time they’re on because it hurts so bad.”

The first officer reared back in alarm. “Are you in pain?!”

Another shrug. “My uterus is shredding it’s inner lining because I’m not knocked up with a baby. Yes, I hurt.”

Avrex had to work hard not to snap xer teeth in xer anger on Melanie’s behalf. “If human females require bed-rest while experiencing one of these ‘periods’, why are you not in bed? Surely if you explained the situation to the medical officer he would have given you medical leave. We do not require a crew member to return to active duty immediately after surgery, surely an internal organ coming apart cannot be so different!”

Melanie laughed. Laughed!

The little human caught xer hand and gave it a squeeze. “I said some humans Avrex. Some. Most don’t experience severe pain. If it gets bad, it means that more than likely something else is wrong. Most of us wear special liners in our clothes or inserted into our bodies to catch the blood so we don’t get it all over the place. And we just go on with our daily routine. Grin and bear it. We’ll be alright.”

The first officer wasn’t convinced. “At least tell me that you have spoken to the medical officer about something to relieve the pain.”

She shook her head, holding up a hand to forestall xer protests. “Some women do. I don’t like using pain medication for something I can tough out. Humans have this thing, where we can slowly build up an immunity to certain drugs through prolonged use. I avoid pain medication so I don’t build up an immunity. That way, when I do need it I know it works really well. As soon as I realize my period is starting, I start drinking more water. The human body is about sixty percent water, and making sure that I’m properly hydrated speeds up the process and makes it hurt less. Instead of dealing with it for six to seven days, it only lasts three to four. Seriously Avrex, I’m fine, and I’ve got a handle on the rest of the symptoms. There’s nothing to worry about.”

Avrex felt as if xer head was spinning. “Other symptoms?”

The human bared her teeth in another smile. “Most of us get moody because our hormone level fluctuate a bit. It hits every woman a bit differently. Some women turn into a weepy mess. Me? I turn into a grouchy, irritable, cow who avoids everyone like the plague. Other women will get angry at the drop of a hat and bite the head off the nearest individual that annoys her.” She must’ve seen the look of shock and horror on xer face because she immediately backtracked. “Shit, not literally! I mean they just get overly aggressive, usually verbally.”

She waited for a second, to make sure xey understood, then went on.

“Aside from the moodiness it’s a grab bag of ways your period will affect you. Some people get cravings, some people get back pain, or their breasts”, she put her hands illustratively on the soft mounds on her chest to be sure that there wasn’t any miscommunication between them about what ‘breasts’ were, “get sore. Most of us get cramps in our lower abdomens right about here.” Again the illustrative touch, this time to a spot just below her belt. “Some of us have an increased sex drive, while others just want to roll themselves up in a blanket like a burrito, and a lot of us are fatigued. Every woman’s different.”

Avrex slowly shook xer head, completely dumbfounded by the sudden influx of information. “Is…is there anything you currently require? I know that Carl already asked, and you informed him that you were sufficiently prepared, but…”

Her face softened. “I’m fine Avrex. Really. I just…”

“Hey! Melanie! You gonna keep up with the men today, or are you gonna have a tea party with the dinosaur all day?”

Avrex almost responded.

Almost.

Instead, xey remained stationary, watching as a strange change came over the female before xem. Where before she had been timid and shy, at the sudden derogatory call from the newest of the five humans, a male named Dave, her face suddenly became calm and smooth as granite.

She slowly turned and cast a threatening, and yes Avrex was sure that this smile was definitely a threat, at Dave and the other male mechanic Josh. Josh had been the fourth human taken on, hired within days of Cal the security guard.

As Dave was the one who’d spoken, Melanie seemed to focus most of her attention on him. “Care to run that by me again smart mouth?”

Josh, older and more mature than Dave, seemed to understand the unspoken warning. “Dave…”

The younger human ignored him. “Ooh, someone woke up on the bitchy side of the bed this morning. What’s a matter sweet cheeks?” He made an expression that Avrex would later learn was called a leer. The male grabbed her by the arm. “Maybe you just need a little action to settle you down, yeah? How ‘bout it babe? I bet I can get that stick out of your ass. Hm? Maybe put something better…”

A large wrench whistled through the air and stopped within a micron’s breadth of the young human’s nose. It was easily the length of the male’s forearm, and had previously been occupying a loop on Melanie’s belt. He stared at it, cross eyed and pale, then looked at the diminutive little female who could’ve easily broken his nose if she’d had less control.

“What’s a matter?” She parroted the question back, voice tight and dark. “What’s a matter is that I started my day in a fountain of my own blood, and that’s how you’re going to end yours if you ever call me ‘sweet cheeks’, ‘babe’, or any other cutesy nickname again. And as for keeping up with you ‘men’, I’m already three days ahead of schedule. You’ve barely been on this ship a month and you’re already two weeks behind. So I’d say it’s you who aught to be keeping up with me, because it seems anything you can do I can do better and faster while bleeding.” Her dark eyes narrowed. “And lastly? If you ever lay hands on me again? I promise you, they will never find your body.”

She slid the wrench back into her belt, cast a respectful nod to Avrex, and calmly crawled back up into the machinery.

Dave stared after her for a long moment, then pointed. “Josh! Did you see what that bitch just…”

The older male cuffed him over the back of the head. “You’re an idiot. Never piss off something that bleeds for seven days a month and doesn’t die. I haven’t got to know her all that well yet, but Mel is worth ten of you. That woman works her ass off. If you ever go after her again, and she doesn’t kill you, you can bet that I will happily beat you black and blue!”

Avrex bared xer teeth, allowing a tiny warning growl to rumble deep inside xer barrel chest. The reptilian first officer slowly stood to xer full ten foot height, looming over the miscreant. “Consider yourself warned.”

An additional talk with Carl yielded a few ‘pearls of wisdom’ concerning ‘feminine’ needs.

With the thunderstruck captain’s blessing, Avrex ordered small metal receptacles installed in each of the public waste rooms on board at their next stop. Carl had suggested small boxes, but given the frequency of meteor showers and pirate attacks, evasive maneuvers were engaged fairly often. Avrex thought it better to have the receptacles affixed to the wall and a basic bolt lock placed on the lid so that the ‘feminine’ supplies wouldn’t be thrown around the waste rooms when the ship had to duck or roll suddenly.

Upon having the situation explained, the other alien members of the crew who hadn’t been released for shore leave were more than happy to help. They liked Melanie, and the discovery that she spent a week in pain each month and gave no outward sign was disconcerting to say the least.

Other changes included stain proof bedding, a heating pad, a new fluffy blanket, and a few earth sweets being slipped into her room.

Dave, the human who had harassed her, was not invited back to the ship.

Instead he was replaced with a male creylight from the Andromeda system. While not as small as the humans, he was still flexible enough to reach most of the components without taking a piece of the engine apart, and he was much stronger. The humans wouldn’t have to drag the lifting equipment out as often.

He was also made aware of how his predecessor had been fired for his disrespectful, inappropriate, and frankly downright threatening behavior towards Melanie.

The crew was not going to tolerate such treatment towards their favorite human.

Melanie nearly burst xer ear drums with her grateful calls upon returning from shore leave and discovering what xey had done.

She had been dreading coming back to work and having to deal with Dave. And then to find out he’d been fired, and to see what ‘sweethearts’ the rest of the crew had been…

As xey crouched down to receive the strongest ‘hug’ the little human could muster, Avrex couldn’t help but marvel at the change in her attitude. While she still treated Josh a little coolly, Melanie seemed much less guarded than she had before. She made friends with Cal, and Carl, and slowly started to get to know Josh. She was more outgoing while socializing with the rest of the crew. The timidity faded, an air of preparedness that the crew hadn’t even realized was there fell away. Leaving her relaxed and free. For the first time since she’d boarded the ship, she seemed truly happy.

She felt safe.

And Avrex couldn’t help but feel both saddened and enraged at how surprised she seemed that they would go out of their way to make her feel safe and comfortable. That she was so used to relying on no one but herself. So used to being stepped on and living in fear of the male half of her species taking advantage of her.

No more.

Avrex took care of xer crew.

I Got You On My Mind [Part 4]

Jungkook Soulmate AU (Angst)

[Part One] | Previous Part | Part Four | Next Part

Summary: After your memory loss, adjusting back to normal life has been difficult. Luckily, Jungkook is always there for you. Still, something seems off about him, and you just can’t understand why.

“Oh yeah, I’m being discharged tomorrow,” you told Jungkook, who was pushing your wheelchair through the hospital. He insisted that you needed a change of scenery. “My parents are going to pick me up and drive me back to my apartment.”

“I-I guess it’s too early for the ‘meet the parents’ thing, right?” Jungkook stammered, uncharacteristically nervous. “Unless you want me to. Like, I don’t mind if–”

“Chill, Jungkook,” you laughed, cutting his off his rambling. “I think they’re more worried about my brain damage than any soulmate business.”

“The doctors said you’ll recover your memories though, right?” Jungkook asked, worry lining his words. “Your memory loss won’t be permanent or recurring?”

“They said my memories will come back slowly,” you replied, shrugging your shoulders nonchalantly. “But most of the time, the memories will have to be triggered by something. They also told me I might have short-term memory issues for the next little while.”

“That seriously sucks,” Jungkook said. “If you need any help with anything, just let me know. I don’t really know how I’d be useful, but don’t hesitate.”

“We’re not in the same department,” you snorted, turning to peer up at your soulmate who was both familiar and foreign in this instant. “This is gonna make school so difficult. I’ve forgotten nearly three months worth of content!”

“Maybe take the semester off?” Jungkook suggested. “Amnesia is a pretty valid reason. Have you talked at all to the university?”

“No,” you groaned, sinking into the wheelchair. “I don’t want to think about responsibilities right now. Just marvelling in the fact I’m still alive and kicking.”

A silence fell between you and Jungkook as he pushed you through a more crowded area of the hospital. You noticed a few younger visitors visibly gape at Jungkook, then glare at you jealously as you rolled by.

You agreed with them–how was Jungkook so damn good-looking? You hit the soulmate jackpot, for sure. Still, even if he looked different, you didn’t doubt that you would like him just the same.

“You know, it’s pretty crazy,” you blurted out unthinkingly. “I’ve been talking to you my entire life, and I always thought meeting you would feel like meeting an old friend. But honestly, you’re a total mystery to me right now. Maybe it’s because of the memory loss, or maybe other people feel this way, too.”

“No, I know what you mean,” Jungkook responded quietly, trying to figure out how to express his thoughts properly. “It’s just…we have an idea of who our soulmate is in our heads. When they’re not exactly that person, it’s kind of confusing.”

“And I’m sure there’s a lot of stuff we still don’t know about each other,” you agreed. “Honestly, I tried to make myself seem a lot better than I am.”

“Yeah, me too,” Jungkook laughed, though it sounded a bit off. You brushed it off as embarrassment. “Didn’t want to disappoint you.”

You turned your head and looked up into Jungkook’s eyes. “You couldn’t have disappointed me Jungkook, really. I’m just happy to finally meet you,” you replied, giving him a small smile. “And it’s kinda paradoxical, isn’t it? Disliking your own soulmate. Weren’t we, like, made to like each other?”

“I guess,” Jungkook said, staring ahead unwaveringly. He pushed you down another hallway, which led to the cafeteria. You only knew because of the wafting smell of hearty food was growing stronger by the second. “But nothing’s ever that simple.”

“Don’t I know it,” you sighed, laughing a little in spite of yourself. You turned the corner into the bustling cafeteria, the noise of the crowds deafening compared to the near-silent, depressing halls of the hospital.

“Want to grab something to eat?” Jungkook asked, the heaviness of your conversation vanishing before you could even blink. “I was going to grab something for myself, too.”

“Sure, I’ll have whatever you’re having,” you agreed. Out of habit, you reached down to pat your pockets for your wallet. “Oh shit, I don’t have any money on me. Don’t worry about it, then.”

“It’s cool, it’ll be my treat,” Jungkook said. When you turned to look at him, he was giving you a lopsided smile.

“Then, is this our first date?” you asked cheekily, delighting in the way Jungkook’s cheek burned. You never expected that a guy like Jungkook, with this terrible fuckboy persona, would be so easily flustered.

“If you want it to be, sure,” Jungkook answered, coughing into his hand awkwardly. You just laughed, and Jungkook pushed you forward wordlessly.

Life at home after getting discharged made staying in the hospital seem like an amusement park. After being sentenced to bedrest by your parents–and having Jieun enforce it with an iron fist–you spent your days bored out of your mind.

In only one week, you had binge-watched three shows, reread all of your course notes (and they didn’t help you remember anything), and read more manga that you had ever read before in your entire life.

You were positively itching to get outside and do something, but what bothered you the most was that you hadn’t talked to Jungkook since your “first date.” When you had gotten home, you jumped to charge your dead phone, which miraculously hadn’t been destroyed in the accident. But when the device finally charged, you soon realized that you had no way of contacting Jungkook.

For some reason, his phone number wasn’t saved in your contacts. Even though Jungkook had said you had met before, apparently you hadn’t exchanged numbers. That seemed very strange to you.

When you asked Jieun about it, she just shrugged the question off. She said your situation was a bit complicated, but that she’d have to leave it up to you and Jungkook. But Jieun did say that she would mention it to him when she saw him at school next.

Sighing, you reached for your phone beside you. It was still early in the morning. Time had lost all meaning to you, since you spent every moment of the day trapped in your apartment. A bit bitterly, you watched your friends’ Snapchat stories and longed to return to normal daily life.

Suddenly, your phone began buzzing. You dropped it in surprise, and it landed on your nose. The impact stung, and you cursed, reaching clumsily for the phone. You saw an unflattering picture of Jieun illuminate the screen. Eventually, you were able to answer.

“Hey, what’s up?” you asked, rubbing your hand against your sore nose.

“Y/N, I’m so fucking stupid!” Jieun practically screamed. Wincing, you held your phone away from your ear. “I know you shouldn’t be moving around, but I need you to come to the university right now. I’m working on a group project that’s due in two hours and a bunch of our files got corrupted. I have some stuff backed up on my laptop, which I left at home like an idiot!”

“Don’t worry, I can bring it to you,” you reassured quickly. “I won’t fall into traffic on the way there. It’s like a ten minute walk, so don’t worry.”

“Just don’t strain yourself, okay?” Jieun ordered, the panic still evident in her voice. “Don’t go to quickly and look both ways!”

“Hey, only I can make fun of myself,” you quipped, pulling yourself out from underneath the covers. “I’ll be over soon, I just need to get dressed.”

“Okay, see you soon. Thank you so much, Y/N,” Jieun said, and the both of you said your goodbyes before you disconnected the call.

You glanced down at your pyjama bottoms and at the thick cast over your right leg. Changing pants would be a battle for another day. Unsteadily, you stood up and balanced your weight on your unbroken leg. You reached for the crutches leaning against the wall beside you and tucked them underneath your arms.

As quickly as you could (which was not very quick), you had thrown on a clean shirt and a jacket. Your hair was a mess, so you shoved on a beanie to disguise the tangled frizz. With Jieun’s securely laptop in your backpack, you began the trek to school. Suddenly, the journey seemed incredibly long.

When you finally arrived on campus, you were panting lightly and sweating. You made your way into the music building, relatively unfamiliar with its layout. You detached yourself from one of your crutches and reached into your pocket for your phone. Quickly you sent Jieun a text letting you know you were here.

There were a few benches in the foyer, so once you hobbled over to them, you set your bag down lightly and placed your crutches against the benches. Flopping down, you discreetly tried to massage your sore armpits.

But you were glad to finally be out of the apartment. The fresh air made you feel infinitely better.

“Y/N?” a familiar voice called. Your head whipped around in the direction of the voice. Jungkook a few meters away from you, looking as dark and intimidating as ever. His wide-eyed expression kind of ruined the image though. “What are you doing here?”

“Jieun forgot her laptop at home,” you replied, pointing to the backpack at your feet, as Jungkook made his way toward you.

“Shouldn’t you be at home?” he questioned, stopping when he was standing in front of you. You craned your neck to at him properly. “Is it okay for you to be walking around so soon?”

“Please, don’t get started on that,” you groaned, squeezing your eyes shut. “My parents and Jieun are unbearable. I’ve been lying in bed doing nothing all week.”

“You know, that honestly sounds like heaven,” Jungkook joked. “I’m so swamped right now. I haven’t slept in days.”

You inspected Jungkook more closely. His eyes were ringed by purplish dark circles, but they were hardly noticeable. How unfair–he always looked good.

“Hey, why haven’t you talked to me all week?” you asked suddenly, narrowing your eyes at Jungkook suspiciously.

“I was meaning to call or text or something, but I don’t have your number,” Jungkook answered sheepishly, scratching the nape of his neck awkwardly. “Didn’t know how to ask for it, since you haven’t been around campus lately.”

“Why’s that, though?” you continued, glancing down at your feet. “I mean–you said we met before. Why didn’t we keep in contact?”

“W-well, we did meet, but it wasn’t a proper conversation,” Jungkook explained stutteringly. “It wasn’t under the most normal circumstances, but–”

“Y/N!” Jieun’s loud voice suddenly interrupted. She burst into the foyer, looking absolutely frazzled. Her hair was a mess, her eyes were bloodshot, and you were pretty sure there were coffee stains on her shirt. “Thank god!”

Your friend ran over to you and practically dove for your backpack. She grabbed her laptop and hugged it tightly against her chest.

“Thank you so much. I’m so sorry I made you come all the way here,” Jieun cried, sounding frantic still. “Are you okay? Sore anywhere? Go home right away, okay? You need to rest. And please don’t tell your parents!”

“Oh my god, I’m fine Jieun,” you whined. “I think I can handle walking for, like, two minutes.”

“I just don’t want anything to happen!” Jieun insisted, stomping her foot childishly. “We’re speeding up the recovery process by being extra careful!”

You rolled your eyes. “Whatever. Go work on your project and try not to fail.”

“I will,” Jieun replied. “I’ll bring dinner on my way home.” She turned, only spotting Jungkook for the first time. Her eyes narrowed and she frowned slightly. “Jungkook.”

“Jieun,” he replied, just as shortly.

You looked between the two of them, wondering why there was so much tension. It looked like they were having a silent conversation, and you hated not knowing what was going on. You had the suspicion they were hiding something from you–but for the life of you, you couldn’t figure out what, exactly.

Eventually, Jieun just nodded and strode away, leaving Jungkook with a tight expression. Visibly, you could see Jungkook try to shake away the tension, his jaw unclenching. When he turned back to you, his features were schooled.

“Give me your phone,” Jungkook said, reaching out his hand and smiling softly. “I’ll add my number.”

Okay, so this one was a bit filler-y. Originally I had planned to make this one angsty too, but I figured you guys could use the respite. Also, it would have been like 4k words and it’s like 2:30AM and this girl needs to sleep. Anyway, stay tuned!! Thanks as always for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Your replies and reblogs/tags are so cute I read them all 💛💛💛💛

can i prompt touch starved tony who loves any and all physical contact he has? someone puts a hand on his shoulder? amazing! someone lens into his side at movie night? the best! someone actually hugs him? omg! the avengers start to notice and perhaps do something about it?

Tony is a puppy. He soaks up affection like a sponge. (I threw in some Bucky because I wanted sleepy, helpless Tony.) Look out for under the cut!

You can find this story on my Ao3 here.

Natasha noticed first. She had a leg up on everyone though, having been sent to spy on him. She’d noticed when Pepper would reach out to casually touch him—a pat on the shoulder, playing with his hair, sliding her foot up his calf—and Tony would look ecstatic. At least, as ecstatic as an emotionally constipated person could look. At first she’d thought it was flirting, and Tony was happy to finally have it reciprocated.

But then Jim Rhodes had stopped by and swept Tony up into a hug that brought his feet off the ground, and Tony had made a happy little noise that had… done something to her heart. While Rhodes was visiting, it seemed like they were always touching, whether it was an arm over Tony’s shoulders or Tony pressing his feet against Rhodes’s thigh.

Happy was touchy-feely with Tony, too. Even after boxing matches, when they were both bruised and sometimes bloody but always smiling, they’d lean their shoulders together, or Happy would be escorting Tony somewhere and keep a hand on his elbow. Tony didn’t even fuss, even though usually he would bitch about not needing anyone’s protection.

Cr.

First dates are embarrassing. First dates are awkward. I’ve been through countless ones, sitting across from people who bored the living daylights out of me. It was less exciting than watching paint dry. Some dates were so utterly rude - I think you and I both know what it’s like to be on the receiving end on that. But now we both don’t have to waste our time anymore!

With First Date Bait they went out for me! Afterwards, they informed me if it was recommended to go out on a second date. It’s amazing with a 99.99% accuracy rate! That’s how I ended up meeting my husband!

First Date Bait.
Why waste your time with awkward first dates?

He’s late.

That’s not a good sign.

I’m sat here at work, behind the bar, on a very slow day.  As I’m sat here, I’m listening to a conversation about the 13th Doctor, between a friend of mine and her sister.  Mind you, Stephanie(my friend) is a lesbian, staunch feminist and HUGE Doctor Who fan…Christa is fan of the show.  Now, this conversation took a turn I hadn’t expected it to, being as it centred round how wonderful it was to have a female Doctor.  Roughly about 15 minutes in, Stephanie switched gears so quickly, even Christa was caught off guard by it, as was I.

What made Stephanie switch gears so fast, was something Christa said about Peter Capaldi, and the 12th Doctor, and how wrongly cast the Doctor had been.  Stephanie stopped mid-sentence, glared hard at Christa, and very calmly said “How do you figure it was badly cast?”  Christa, without missing a beat, “Capaldi was too old, and definitely not hot enough looking for the part.”  Stephanie goes, “Anything else?”   “His acting was very wooden, dull and repetitive.  Comes from being too old.  Bad idea to cast him as the Doctor.”

Stephanie simply says, “Were you even watching the same show I was? Because, I very highly doubt you were.”  Christa didn’t answer, so Stephanie continued on.  “So, what you’re saying is, had they cast a younger, hot looking man, regardless of how good, or bad, his acting was, this younger, hotter looking man would’ve been better casting?”  Christa nods, “Definitely.”  “Ok, so we have a female Doctor now.  You and many others, are gushing over this fact, right?”  “Yes.”  “It’s thrilling, I get that.  I’m thrilled by it, too.  But, what I do not get, is how every single one of you are so surprised by some of the backlash over this casting.”   Christa, stares at her for a second, “What do you mean?”  “What I’m saying is, did you forget something very crucial here?”

Christa looks rather confused by this question.  Even I’m not sure, at this point, where Stephanie is going with this.

Christa finally says, “I’ve no clue what you’re talking about.”

Stephanie, “The crucial point is, every single one of you, who are now waxing poetic about getting a female Doctor, were also the same exact ones tearing down Capaldi and the 12th Doctor.  Bitching and moaning about how he wasn’t young enough, how he wasn’t good enough looking to be the Doctor.  Did you all of sudden, forget doing that?  Did you collectively forget being superficial, shallow ageists?  Or, is it something you’d rather forget, now that it’s being said about this Doctor, and the fact they are female? You’re so surprised by the sexism being tossed around, and why is that?  Why?  Because you’re looking in a mirror at yourselves, and it’s not a very pretty image, is it?  Was it perfectly okay when you were doing it?  No, it wasn’t.  It was mean, cruel, cold and narrow minded.  Is it perfectly okay for those doing it now?  Absolutely not.  It’s never okay, period.  Everyone has a right to their opinions, doesn’t make them right.  Just because you, and many others, did not like Capaldi, or his Doctor, doesn’t mean that no one did.  And, just because many are thrilled to get a female Doctor, doesn’t mean everyone is going to feel the same.  They are nothing more than opinions on how YOU, as an individual, see it.  It does not make your opinion the be all, end all…you can’t throw out ‘everyone better agree with me, or else,’  bs.  You end up looking the fool, if you do.  You end up mighty surprised, and very angry, when someone else goes, ‘No, I don’t agree.’  Again, why the surprise?  Why the anger?  How can you be, when YOU were doing the same thing to them?”

Me and Christa were both sat with our jaws in our laps.

“So let’s go back to Classic Who, which you’ve watched numerous times.  Now, you even had opinions on all those Doctors, same as many others do.  Again, many of you have tossed about the ‘not good looking, too old, too young, too this, too that,’ nonsense…’the acting is wooden, dull ‘blah, blah, blah. Same utter bs is going on now.  The reboot comes along, they give us Eccleston, Tennant and Smith.  And guess what they were?  Good looking and young.  But what happened?  Along came Capaldi, and oh my god, every single one of you flipped your shit over it!  Instead of going, ‘It’s the Doctor, our hero still lives!’ what did you do?  You started tearing him down before you even knew what he’d be like.  You screamed ‘Too old! He’s ugly!  He’s not Tennant or Smith!’  Because that’s where the so-called loyalty lay.  It was with the good looking, younger guys who ignited wet dreams.  You collectively went ‘Ewwwwwwwwwwww’ and stopped watching the show.”

(let me add, that about half way through that last part, Stephanie stops, grins widely and says, “I’ll admit, even though I’m a lesbian, I’d go bi in a heart beat for Capaldi!  Good lord, that man is beautiful!”)

All Christa has said up to this point is, “This isn’t the same thing! They don’t compare at all!” Stephanie shrugs, “They are the same thing.  Just worded differently to fit the situation.  All those who were tearing Capaldi down, and who still are, even now, don’t understand where the one is, you’ll have the other.  Sexism, ageism, superficiality, bigotry etc, are all nasty and narrow-minded thinking.  We are ALL guilty of this thinking process.”

Finally, I think Stephanie realised I was sat there.  She looks at me and says, “And, your thoughts on everything I’ve said?”  I was like, “Er, well…” She grins, “You are part of the Capaldi camp, right?”  “And, proud to be.”  “And, you had shit lobbed at you for liking him? “Yeah.”  She shook her head, says “I’m seeing all kinds of hate thrown at him now, even more so the ‘Finally! We’ve a GOOD Doctor, a cute Doctor.  And, we will finally have GOOD stories again!’  I’m sure you feel like these people are comparing the 12th Doctor to a annoying road bump on the way to the amusement park.”  I nodded.  “It feels that way, yeah.” She smiles, “Oh, now don’t you feel that way!  Without 12,without all his grumpiness, his childlike wonder, his insanity, or his actual character development, would we even have the 13th?” She smiles more, leans forward and says, “No, we wouldn’t.  But don’t you worry, 12 isn’t going anywhere, he’s always right there, where he should be, in the heart. And if anyone tries to tear you down for the fact that you adore him, adore him harder! Same goes for everyone adoring ALL the Doctors, including 13. “

TITLE - “I need a place to stay.”

A/N - So I couldn’t kind of get this idea out of my head and after such an overwhelming response for little ol’ me on my last one shot, I just knew I had to post another. This is one of my favourites. So I really hope you like it. Let’s just say things get kind of hot…

Slamming the door loudly and in distress, you stormed down the metal steps and down onto the dirt below. You were furious right now. Your whole body was shaking with the adrenaline that was circling around your body. You couldn’t even see anything but red. And that wasn’t just from the blood that was dripping down from the forehead.

You couldn’t believe what had happened tonight. Actually you could. Because it was a disaster waiting to happen. Like a volcano waiting to erupt and it did tonight. The explosion had just occurred right in front of your very eyes and you were cut up in the cross fire.

Bringing your head up to the sky, almost to ground yourself back down from the anger, you saw the darkness above. Almost similiar to the one in your body right now. But this one had large gloomy clouds covering it, the heavy rain now starting to lash down covering the floor below, just as much as the ones in your eyes wanted to do.

But you couldn’t do that here. You couldn’t break down the way you wanted to out here in the open. You had to go to the only place you could seek refuge for the rest of the night.

Shaking your head, you took a deep breathe and began your journey across the park, your eyes staring intently ahead, trying to ignore the rain splashing around you, as well as any watchful gazes from those who were still up and out, even in the early hours of the morning.

Once you reached your destination, your hands gripped around the metal railing and you forced your muddy covered boots up the steps to the front door. Bringing your bloody fist up to the door, you winced as you knocked on it a few times, hoping they were home and would be able to help.

Because you needed them. Maybe way more than you knew you did. But still. You needed him.

Within a matter of moments, the door to the trailer opened up quickly and an irritated looking man stood behind it, but once he saw it was you stood there, clothes drenched from the rain, blood covering several parts of your body and a look of desperation on your face, it softened.

“I need a place to say.” You told him, your voice soft and your words more of a demand than a suggestion.

Stepping away from the door, Fp allowed you to come inside, not even wanting an explanation as to why, because even just seeing you in this state was enough to make him want to bring you inside and help you through whatever was going on.

But he had a good idea what had caused her so much sorrow tonight.
Coming into the trailer, you went straight over to the cool box in the living room and brought a beer out. Quickly you snapped the lid off of the bottle and took a large swig from the liquid, whilst Fp stood against the side of the wall watching you curiously.

You avoided his eyes on you as you came and took a seat down on the couch, your hands still shaking and your breathing heavy, but now you could just sit down and chill out for a moment, in the safety of this mans home, you knew you would be in a better place soon.

Fp left you for a moment by yourself, you presumed to let you have a moment to calm down, but when he came back through with first aid kit, you knew what was going to come next. It wasn’t just going to be him healing your physical wounds, he would want to know the rawness you felt inside too.

“Are you going to tell me what happened?” He asked as he came over to you.

You shrugged your shoulders at him, “Depends what you want to hear.”

“The truth would be a good start.” Fp bent down in front of you, before he laid the box down on the table behind and opened it up.

“Let’s just say the destruction we all knew what was waiting to happen did finally happen tonight.” You kept your answer brief.

Fp raised his brows up at you slightly, as he brought out some rubbing alcohol to clean your wounds, “You talking about your sister-in-law?”

“Yeah, that bitch.” You grumbled, before taking another swig out of your beer as Fp took hold of your wrist.

“Your brother find out about the affair?” He began to dap the cuts on your knuckles lightly with some cotton, but even that caused you to wince and stop drinking your beer.

Fp rolled his eyes to look at you after hearing your sudden reaction to what he was doing, it wouldn’t have been the first time his touch had sent you over the edge, but that was a story for another time.

“Yep,” You rubbed your lips together uneasily, from both the memories of the last couple of hours, but also from the stinging on your skin, “he saw it with his own two eyes down at the Whyte Worm.”

“And how did he react?” Fp then questioned, before he went to change the cotton for the next wound.

“How do you think he reacted?” You spat back at him, not aiming your anger towards him, but at this whole messy situation, “he was pissed, Fp. He flipped. I flipped.”

“I can see that.” He couldn’t help but smirk, as he brought his face up to meet with yours.

You rolled your eyes at his amusement towards your choice of retaliation, about to go take another sip from your beer, when you suddenly felt his fingers graze the top of your forehead, brushing a few strands of your hair away from your face and your gaze fell straight onto his.

Looking back at him, you felt your stomach drop slightly at his touch on you, his fingers so light and gentle on your face, the last time they had been like that had been many weeks ago, things hadn’t been this close between you two for a long time and it felt just as good as it always did.

But this time it was different. So different. So much had happened.

Noticing your reaction to what he did, Fp tried to ignore the tension now rising in the room and went back to caring for your wounds, as he dabbed the cut on your forehead, where your sister-in-law had thrown a glass at you and it had just skimmed across your skin before crashing into the wall behind.

Swallowing away the lump that had formed in your throat, you cleared it quickly and went back to retelling the story, “She followed us back here. She tried to get him to forgive her and take her back. And I’m sure at one point he was going to, until I stepped in and told her to go, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer..”

Fp finished cleaning the wound, before he leant over and took some gauze tape out of the box, before he began to stick it over the cut on your forehead, wanting to make sure you would heal nicely, both on the outside and in, so he just let you continue on.

“So I tried to drag her out of the trailer, but she just wouldn’t leave, so my brother stepped in, but even his attempts failed, because everytime she kept coming back and trying to worm her way back into his head,” You explained further, as you leant across to put your half drunken beer on the table,

But Fp took it back off and took a swig out of himself, this story enough to make anyone wanting to drink away the drama, but also because he couldn’t deal with this sexual atmosphere that was still lingering in the background at such a serious time.

He wasn’t even sure you felt it too.

But you could. And you did feel it. So very much. It was so strong.

“And I just lost it,” You said as Fp’s eyes came back onto you and his eyes trailed down to the blood that was seeping through your t-shirt, specks of it peeking out the top round the neckline on your skin, so close to where your chest and cleavage were,

And there was that tension, it grew more and more, with just a simple look.

“I-i-i just flipped….”

You found yourself now lost for words, as your eyes met with his once more, your chest tightened and your stomach began to churn with excitement and nerves, the way Fp was looking at you was sending you over the edge.

This man. He made you forget everything. He made you feel so alive even in the dark. Fp jones had you so good.

“I..” Fp even found himself struggling to form a sentence, before he cleared his own throat huskily, “w-what happened there?”

“Uh,” Your gaze dropped down to your chest, where Fp’s own kept moving from your face and to this area of your body, before you confessed what else happened  "that’s not my blood. It’s hers.“

Fp couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, whether it was a nervous one or just one of humour to hear this, "What? What did you do to her?”

“Don’t worry she’s still alive and walking, I mean, just about anyway…” You explained with a small smirk, as you stood up and shrugged yourself out of your leather biker jacket, “I could have done a lot worse.”

“Not a doubt in my mind.” He smirked, as he watched you walk round and headed over to the kitchen.

“Do you think I could borrow a shirt? I mean, I’ll give it back, but I don’t fancy having that snakes blood on my body for a second more.” You said, as you daringly took off your t-shirt to reveal your red lacy bra.

Fp’s eyes lit up slightly to see you stood there, bloody shirt in one hand, the other on your hip, the lacy garment covering your chest, but Fp knew what was behind there, and you knew how teasing this would be for him, but it made all more fun and you needed some fun.

“I take that as a yes.” You spun round on your hip and began to walk through to his room, when you felt his hands quickly wrap around your waist and stop you from moving any further.

Your breath hitched in your throat at his large and warm hands on your body again, his skin touching your own, for the first time in a long time and it felt so damn good to feel it again, it sent shivers to erupt over your skin and this time round, Fp knew what he was doing to you.

“You might have not killed that girl tonight,” He whispered huskily in your ear from behind you, as your teeth grazed against your bottom lip, trying to fight off the uncontrollable smile that was going to plaster all over your face, “but you’re definitely killing me..”

Slowly spinning round to face Fp, your gently laid your hands down on the black t-shirt that covered his chest and looked up at his face, his frame towering over your slightly, “Fp Jones, I thought we agreed..”

“Screw the agreement,” He hissed back at you, looking around your whole face with a smile, “I’m glad you came here, (y/n).”

“Me too.” You smiled back.

A few weeks ago, well many weeks ago, after the last time you had given into the feelings you two had discovered you shared for each other, you had agreed to stay away from each other to try let things simmer out.

Fp was still married to Glady Jones, his wife and he had two children, a son and a daughter, who were still kids. It wasn’t fair on them to rip the family apart more than it already had been. And you respected them all enough to stay away.

But tonight had been so different and hard not to run back to Fp. He had promised to be there for you when you needed him. The same way you told him you would be there when he was ready.

Yet things had happened tonight. And there was no way you wanted to wait a second longer. It had put too much in perspective. You wanted to be with Fp Jones. You needed to be.

Letting go of you, Fp took off the black and white plaid shirt that was covering his upper body and handed it over to you. You went to take it from him, wanting to put it on and wear his shirt, when he moved it away stopping you doing so.

Frowning back at him in confusion, Fp shook his head with a small chuckle, “not yet. We still need to finish cleaning you up first.”

Without even giving you a chance to respond and question him, Fp quickly picked you up and held you high with his hands on the backs of your thighs, your hands came around his neck as you giggled helplessly.

He lowered your body slightly, so your face came into the same level his, before he leaned a little closer, your faces inches apart, as you sighed and felt the tension rise once more. Your eyes teasingly flickered from his eyes down to his lips, wanting to test the water and see if this was what he truly wanted tonight.

Because this was what you wanted. This was what you needed more than anything.

Catching your gaze with his own, Fp broke the gap between the two of you and kissed you, gently and slowly at first, but as he felt you sigh into the kiss and pull him closer, he turned up the heat and embraced you passionately.

Carrying your body and his own out of the kitchen, Fp went over to his bathroom and pulled open the door, he began to take off his shoes as he continued to kiss you, and you kissed him back just as hard, your hands tangling round the back of you, were you took off your bra and let it slide down onto the floor below.

Pulling out of the kiss, Fp grinned back at you as you did the same, before moving your lips onto his jaw, kissing along his stubble as your fingers played with the hairs on the back of his neck, knowing it would send him over the edge as he struggled to turn on the shower beside the two of you.

Once the water was on and working, Fp carefully stood your body back down onto the floor, as you slipped out of your own shoes, whilst he began to take off his pants. You couldn’t help but step back over to him, stopping him from going any further and instead you began to take off his shirt.

The garment dropped to the floor seconds later, before your hands trailed down from his smooth chest and onto his stomach, one of your favourite parts of his whole body, the way it felt up against your own naked body was one of the most comforting things.

Breaking that space between the two of you again, you kissed Fp strongly before you motioned him towards the shower cubicle. Not wanting to waste another moment, Fp picked you back up and stepped under the water with you.

Just like the rain that was crashing down outside. The water collided with your bodies, the two of you still stood in your jeans, but your bare chest exposed and touching, as Fp brought you to your feet again.

The kiss never breaking, not even once, as the water began to wash away the drama of that night, making way for the sun that would rise in the morning, one that was full of warmth and security in the only place you wanted to stay, where Fp also wanted you to stay.

The day just seemed too surreal. It was drastically different from the last two years of high school, especially for your desk mate.

Kim Namjoon was finally getting noticed, this time, in the best way possible.

People turned their heads to look at him when he walked down the halls, girls became absolutely flustered when they made eye contact with him. He didn’t even need to say anything, and people were looking at him as if they had seen god.

A short silence followed. The two of them just breathed into the phone.

“What do you mean ‘she is not at my place’?” Phil eventually asked his best friend, trying to remain calm.

“Well, she just isn’t. Why is she not at home?” Dan wanted to know, confusion noticeable in his voice.

“I don’t know, okay? I thought she’d be at yours. Do you think she just left?” Phil was by now enormously worried and Dan could tell.

“Let’s find her.”

After Phil had hung up he immediately called his sister. It rang a few times and then it went to voice mail. He didn’t leave a message instead he just tried to ring her again. Once again no luck.

Y/N would have probably picked up if she weren’t cuddled up on the sofa in her best friend’s living room. The two of them always have girl’s nights whenever one of them feels down. So they watched a Zac Efron movie while eating ice cream at nearly 1 am. Shortly before they turned on the TV, Y/N told Sam everything that had happened and she ensured her that the whole dating Dan thing will surely work out in the end. Meanwhile her phone was in her bag in Sam’s room, out of reach and unable to hear.

“Dan, I called her like 5 times and she didn’t pick up!”

Phil didn’t have the time to even say hello. His sister had never done something like that before.

“Okay, I’ll be at your house in 10 minutes.”

Just like Sam earlier that night, Dan came to rescue his best friend. Phil was already waiting in the drive way although it was freezing outside. He immediately jumped into the car when it arrived.

“We should drive through the neighbourhood.” Phil suggested, again without greeting his best friend, there wasn’t enough time for that.

So Dan started driving while Phil hectically stared out of the window and got excited whenever he thought to see somebody move in the dark, but the shadows he saw were just cats.

“This is all your fault” Phil mumbled and Dan couldn’t believe his ears.

“What?! I just kissed her.”

“I know.” Phil breathed in frustration. “It’s not your fault at all.” He then added sounding devastated.

It was silent again in the car, both of them weren’t in the mood to listen to music in a situation like this.

“I’m sorry.”

Phil’s voice was so quiet that it was barely audible.

“I was way too rude to you and Y/N. I don’t know why I overreacted like that.” he admitted and could feel a little part of the weight on his shoulders vanish.

“She’s your little sister it’s completely normal to feel the need to protect her.” Dan tried to cheer his best friend up, he was just glad that he was insightful.

“I think I was just shocked to see you two like that. I know that you are not a bad guy but I- I still got so angry at you. I thought you were just sneaking around with her behind my back for fun, but I noticed that she means a lot to you.” Phil couldn’t stop explaining himself and apologizing.

It was all his fault that they had to drive through the whole neighbourhood to search for his sister and he knew that and it crushed him. At first, he thought Dan was the bad guy in this story, but it was actually him. The awareness of that put his stomach in a twist and he fiddled with his hands out of worry.

“Phil, I really like Y/N.” Dan calmly declared and he meant it.

“I know.”

“I should have told you about my feelings for her earlier.”

“I shouldn’t have freaked out.”

After driving around the block for more than half an hour Phil had nearly lost all his hope. He leaned his head against the cold class of the car window. His eyes still didn’t leave the pavement.

“Dan?” Phil asked carefully.

“Yes?” his best friend answered. One could tell that Dan was curious by now.

“When you and my sister start dating, promise me to not forget about me.”

At first, Dan thought he was joking but he realized that Phil was being serious.

“Phiiilll, why would we ever do that?”

“I don’t know, I’m gonna be the third wheel and you two will only hang out with each other. Without me.”

Phil was afraid to finally put his fear into words. It was true, he was afraid of losing both his sister and his best friend and they were the two most important people in his life.

“Nothing is gonna change, we could just hang out together. It’s not like we are just gonna forget you, Phil.”

Phil took a deep breath and felt that he had calmed down a bit now and he felt a lot lighter.

“Do you think we should give up and drive-“ before he was able to finish his sentence he got interrupted by the sound of his phone ringing. It was so loud that it nearly made him jump.

“Hello!” he nearly shouted when he saw the caller ID and immediately picked up.

“Hi, why are you not sleeping?” Y/n asked she sounded confused and tired.

“Sleeping? How am I supposed to sleep when you just ran away?”

“Ran away? I am at Sam’s house.”

Sam’s house. Of course! Phil felt stupid for not thinking about that earlier, she’d always go there for girl’s nights.

“I was so worried about you.” Phil admitted instead of being angry at her. He had already caused enough trouble today and it was not her fault for needing a nice chat with her best friend after all the horrible things he had said.

Phil and I had a long talk after all that happened that night. He sincerely apologized for the way he acted and we went back to normal.

*5 months later*

“Prepare to lose Howell!” I shouted as I pressed play on my controller and started the game.

We were sat in the living room in front of the TV and played video games. At first Dan, Phil and I all played against each other and the best two got into the finale. Dan wasn’t wrong when he said that I’m better at this game than my brother.

“Never in a million years, Little Lester.”

I rolled my eyes at the nickname but had to grin like a fool anyway.

After a few minutes, it turned out that I was clearly the better player.

“I will never understand how you can be so good at this?” Dan sighed, annoyed that he was going to bitterly lose against me.

“Well, I had the best teacher.” I explained while high fiving my elder brother.

Phil had a huge smile on his face while Dan fake pouted.

“I wouldn’t be that confident of your victory, baby.”

“You are so far behind, it is nearly impossible for you to win.” I grinned amused.

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that either.” Dan said with a smirk and I knew something was off.

In the matter of a second he had taken the controller out of my hand and started tickling me with his huge hands.

I immediately started laughing so hard that I didn’t make a sound anymore. I tried to push him away from me put he had lifted me onto his lap and wouldn’t let go no matter how hard I kicked him with my feet.

“ST-OP” I manged to croak in between heavy breaths in desperate need of air.

“Say I am the best boyfriend in the world and also the best at any video game.” Dan suggested grinning widely. He stopped tickling me for a second so I could take a breath.

I shook my head no, teasing him.

Dan immediately attacked me with his large hands again, tickling my sides. I squirmed under his touch and felt how my face got red because of the lack of oxygen.

“OKAy! I- I’ll say it. Anything just please stop!” I squealed, giving in.

Dan seemed satisfied and actually stopped. “Let me hear it then.” He said cockily.

“I am the best boyfriend in the world and also the best at any video game.” I giggled and Phil who had to witness the whole scene started cracking up.

“Dad jokes? Really, Y/N?” Dan sighed annoyed but he was still smiling.

“Don’t act like you don’t love them, Dan.” I chuckled proud of myself.

“I really do love you.”

I couldn’t help but blush at his words. He was just too cheesy and cute.

We both leaned in for a kiss. Our lips met. They slowly moved against each other. I ran my hands though his brown hair as his tongue brushed my –

“GUYS! Not when I am here.” Phil complained and acted like he had to cover his eyes.

i-love-shiro  asked:

Sooo... How about the fam having a nice day at the zoo? You know, Keith gets to see some Hippos, Lance casually says that one particular Hippo reminds him of Daddy Keith? :D Also, consider this: Hippo puns. Hippocrite, Hippochondriac, Hippothesis...

[The Voltron Family] Shiro was driving home from work, when his rock playlist stopped to give way to Keith’s upcoming call, so he clicked the accept button on his car screen.

“You would not believe what Zarkon just told me,” Keith said on the other line not bothering to wait for Shiro. The kids were with the Galra because they didn’t have school for the day. “So apparently, our kids said they haven’t been to a zoo and Zarkon just called out on me! On us! Saying we were depriving our babies of a beautiful childhood! And you know what he said?? He said he even took his kids to a zoo! IN SRI LANKA! They’re Italians, Takashi!! ITALIANS!”

Shiro couldn’t help but be amused at how Keith was so riled up. “The kids are Russians though,” he corrected.

“That’s not the point!” Keith cried out, then cursed, “Dammit. Stupid asshole doesn’t know how to stay in their lane.”

“Keith? Are you driving?” Shiro asked with a chuckle as he took a turn.

“Yeah,” Keith answered and with a sultry voice he added, “Race you home?”

“Oh, babe,” Shiro cooed. “What did we say about flirting while driving?”

“Too late, just passed by your Range Rover!” Keith laughed. “Suck my—”

“—Don’t you dare finish that sentence, Kogane!” Shiro grinned so wide as he pushed the pedal. Hearing his husband’s laughter, Shiro snorted. “Loser gets to wash the other’s back later in the showers.”

“Oh, babe,” Keith mocked. “Now that makes me want to lose on purpose.”

—-

The following Saturday, the whole family went to the local zoo and the kids were ecstatic. They were by the ticket booth and Lance wouldn’t stop jumping around.

“Buddy, save the energy for later,” Shiro tapped his 6-year-old’s head.

Lance was so giddy that he couldn’t contain his smile. “It’s my first time! And Hunk’s too! And Pidge’s!” He looked around and then back at Shiro again. “Will there be dinosaurs?!”

“I’m afraid they’re extinct, captain.” Shiro frowned.

“Extinct? What’s that?” Lance asked.

“It means they’re dead, Lance,” Pidge answered, rolling her eyes. She squeezed Shiro’s hand and looked up, “Daddy Shiro…” without saying anything else, Shiro picked her up.

“You’re so spoiled,” Lance crossed his arms. Pidge just stuck her tongue out.

—-

Shiro was exhausted and they haven’t even toured half of the zoo. The kids, however, had unlimited energy. He was glad he brought two cameras that day because his first one was almost full. Forgive him if he found everything his kids do adorable and he just had to take a photo. Especially after the marine animals sections, he was able to capture a dolphin staring at Keith. Honestly, he wouldn’t even blame the dolphin at this point if it was taken with his husband too.

Their next stop was the Hippo Cove. Hunk and Lance ran together holding hands and if Shiro took a photo, well, no one had to know except the whole world when he publishes their photos.

“No running, kids!” Keith called out and sighed knowing how futile it was.

The place was packed with so many kids and parents that little Hunk was lucky enough to squeeze himself between two adults in front of the glass for viewing. Shiro picked up Pidge so she could look over the heads, Lance was running around trying to find an empty space for him but he was growing restless by the second. He was about to call him out so he could join Pidge, when Keith tapped the little boy.

“C’mon, up you go,” Keith spread his arms out and Lance beamed so wide, jumping into Keith’s arms. Shiro wanted to cry because he wasn’t able to take a photo of that adorable moment. He’d just have to suck it up and immortalize it in his mind.

Keith stood beside him with Lance, the little boy’s arms around Keith’s neck whispering “Closer, closer! Closer!”

A loud giggle came out of Lance’s mouth when he pointed at one hippopotamus in a corner. “That hippo looks just like you, Daddy Keith!”

“Excuse me?!” Keith snapped his head towards his son, clearly offended.

Shiro turned towards the direction where Lance pointed and he couldn’t help but bark out a laugh. The hippo in question had leaves on its head, making it look like an emo hippo brooding in a corner.

Lance laughed so hard. “He has long hair just like you and you always look like this,” the boy scrunched up his nose, knitted his eyebrows and frowned. “What do you mean we ran out of milk?!”

Shiro had to hand it to Lance, he made a pretty good impression of Keith looking grumpy in the morning. He expected Keith to be insulted and yet he was surprised when Keith grinned so wide and bumped noses with Lance.

“That was really tonto, you know?” Keith couldn’t contain his fondness as he gave Lance a soft peck which made the little boy beam and hug him tighter.

Shiro was dying. It was too cute. It wasn’t fair.

“Hey, Keith!” As soon as Keith and Lance turned their heads towards him, he continued, “How can you get a hippo to do whatever you want?”

“What?” they both asked.

“Hipponotism,” Shiro laughed and he could see Hunk, Pidge and Lance roll their eyes at his stupid joke but not Keith.

Keith was stupidly smiling at him and if Shiro leaned in to kiss his husband in public in a damn Hippo Cove, well, he was glad there were people to witness it.

Reader x Kol Mikaelson

Synopsis: You and Kol Mikaelson have known each other since you were both kids. Now, being almost a teenager and also a Hale, you have to struggle with the fact you turning into a werewolf without having any clue about what to do. Kol comes up as a sweet best friend and helps you through it.

A/N: HELLO! I know I’ve sort of disappeared. However, last monday was my high school graduation prom, so I didn’t have any time to update the blog and I am deeply, DEEPLY, sorry. Anyways, back to the story I’m publishing now. I have been requested awhile ago to do a long fiction about Kol and Reader. I thought it was a great idea and I decided to do it. So, it will be kind of a crossover between teen wolf and the originals. I truly hope you like it. This is just a introductory part. And I know I talk too much. hahaha :)

Word Count: 1637

[11th century]

“Kol, where are you? Please, don’t leave me all alone here!” A girl cried, running around in the woods. “I mean it!”

The twelve year old, knowing she would not get a solid answer, just sat against a tall and strong tree. Warm tears rolled down her face as she hugged her own knees, providing the realisation of how cold her own hands were; aside the obvious shaking.

Playing hide and seek was a bad idea, she thought, feeling helpless. Kol was the girl’s best friend and was perfectly aware over the extension of her loathing towards the merely concept of being alone. Especially in the woods, where her father warned her she should be extra careful. It was the burden of being a Hale: to always live hidden and to always be careful.

“Can’t you be nice to me?” Once more her high pitched voice yelled. “You are supposed to be my friend. Best friend. Answer me!”

“You’re no fun, Elizabeth.” A voice came out from between two other trees, making she jump, scared. “We come here everyday to play and you’re still scared I’m going to leave you.“

“That’s because you always hide so well. I never find you!” The girl shook her head. “Also, one of these days you will, once I become…”

“A wolf?“

Mary Elizabeth nodded her head, lowering her eyesight. Kol chuckled and walked towards her, cupping one of her cheeks and lifting her chin in order for the girl to look at him. She had puffy and red eyes from the crying. At that sight, he felt something inside him break. It was awful to look at her like that. Knowing she was hurt and scared. The young Mikaelson wanted to keep her safe and far way from her family problems. Like a best friend should do.

“Listen to me, please.” The boy said, firmly. “I don’t care about your past or what you will become in the future.”

“It’s not that and you know it. Honestly, I’m only scared that one day I might feel the urge to hurt you.”

Kol sighed, pulling Elizabeth into a tight hug. She instantaneously wrapped her arms around his waist, feeling the boy’s soft squeeze. He rested his head on hers, her scent invading his nostrils. Even though it was awkward, as boys and girls usually tend to not get along when young, they loved every minute they spent together.

That moment, especially, felt endless. Both of them under the sunset, feeling their skin’s warmth… Perhaps it was right that second they had fallen in love with each other for good.

“You won’t.” He said, his voice muffled by her hair.

“Excuse me?”

"Hurt me.”

“You can’t possibly know that…”

Kol placed two of his fingers on her mouth, not allowing the girl to finish the sentence. Mary Elizabeth could be very pessimistic when she wanted to be and he hated that. A smug grin curved his lips until, suddenly, he felt the tip of her tongue against his skin. A disgusted glare showed up on his eyes, while she laughed out loud.

“Better now?”

“All better. It’s always amusing to see you like that.”

“I’m glad you’re happy.” Kol said, sarcastically.

Eventually, he caved in and joined her, chuckling.

“It’s getting dark. How about we go home, Lizzie?”

“Yes!” She placed a hand on her stomach. “Oh, Lord, I’m starving.”

“Me too! I feel like I could eat a horse.”

“And, since you’re my best friend, we could share this horse.”

“No way! It’s my food.”

“Alright, Mr. ‘It’s my food’.”

They giggled and started to walk home.

Since the village they lived was bit far from where they were, night fell before Elizabeth and Kol got home. The sky was beautifully clear, which allowed them to appreciate the pale light coming from the moon. Definitely a moment they would remember for the rest of their lives, as they would perceive later on.

“Kol, can I ask you a question?”

“Sure.”

“Why did you become friends with me?”

“You were the prettiest little four year old I had ever seen.” She giggled, looking away. “I mean it!”

“Don’t play dumb with me. I am a Hale, sure your parents did not want their son hanging out with my kind.”

“I’m pretty sure they don’t know. But again, I don’t give a shit. Soon we’re old enough… I don’t know. Maybe we could leave this place.”

“Of course!” She said undoubtedly. “And don’t you dare leave me behind.”

“I don’t think I made myself clear: you’re stuck with me.”

“Don’t make those kind of promises. You’re thirteen. I bet when you’re older, you get yourself a girlfriend and forget all about me.”

Kol frowned and then stopped walking.

“Why are you saying that?”

“Well… It’s true that you’ll probably get a girlfriend. But I was joking about the part where you leave me. It doesn’t have to be like that.”

“I wouldn’t… Never… I mean… Damn it. I just want you to know I like you. And no other girl will ever take your place.”

Mary Elizabeth narrowed her eyes and gave him a small nod. She got confused by his words, but, somehow, it made her heart warmer. It was good to know he liked her just as much as she liked him.

“Promise you will be with me? No matter what?”

“Yes, Kol. I promise.”

“What if you find a boyfriend?”

“I guess I feel the same way you do.” Her voice was unsure, for they never had such type of talk. “Let’s no worry about this now, okay?”

“Right. We don’t have time, anyway. Your mum is already waiting by the door.”

“Wait… Correct me if I’m wrong, but it isn’t you mum there as well?”

“Huh? What is she doing here?”

Kol furrowed his eyebrows as she pulled him to a bush, in order to hide and listen to what the women were talking. The girl had so many unresolved questions about what she was and her parents would not say anything. All she knew was that her older brothers became wolves and she would be one herself, in the future.

“What are you doing?”

“Well, remember what I said about being fully aware of what I am?”

“Yes.” He mumbled, trying to keep himself hidden.

“Well, I lied.”

“What?”

“Shut up, I’ll explain later.”

Kol’s complaints were muffled by her hand, which gave her an opening to concentrate. A few months earlier Elizabeth started to change. Sounds became louder and her sight improved so much she could see miles and miles away from where she stood. Also her reflexes were faster. The healing quickly was a thing as well. According to her brothers, that was normal. First those stuff, then, on the full moon after her thirteenth birthday, she would turn.

Are you sure Kol is not here?

Yes, I am. But Mary Elizabeth isn’t here too. They’re probably playing in the woods.”

Oh, well then. If he comes here, send him home immediately.

Are you afraid my family will do your son any harm?

Not your family, your daughter. Do you even know what she is? What she’ll become?”

You don’t have to worry about that. My Elizabeth is a sweet girl, she could never do anything to anyone. No matter what you say she’ll become.”

If you believe so…

I do.

Very well. I must leave now. Send him home.

Then the Mikaelson matriarch left and Mary Elizabeth sighed, frustrated. She desperately wanted to understand, go deep within her origins. Knowing she had failed one more time to figure out made an urge to hit something come up, which induced the girl to close her eyes and take a relaxing breath. Only to keep it together.

“Care to let me know what the hell just happened?”

“It’s complicated.” She shook her head. “I mean… These things are all new to me. And I so don’t understand it. Yet, nobody is able to explain what  is going on with me.”

“I don’t get it.”

“The wolf part of me is surfacing. I’m pretty sure my change will occur soon.”

Kol looked confused.

“Why didn’t you tell me that?”

“I was scared. So much was happening… Also, I didn’t want to be worry you.”

He stood up, cleaning the dust on his trousers and started to move towards the village again, obviously mad. She huffed, rolling her eyes and running to catch up with him. Even though Kol understood why she had hidden that, he still wished she would have told him. After all, they were best friends.

“Wait up!”

“You don’t trust me.” The boy said, almost snarling.

“I do. I do! But I didn’t want to bother you before I was sure… Before I freaking know what I am.” Elizabeth grasped his arm and captured his eyesight with hers. “That’s why I was so preoccupied with you. I don’t even know what is going to happen after I turn thirteen.”

“Well, you have to be damn sure I’ll be with you. I told you I don’t care.”

“Then let’s forget about this and go home.”

Hale used the five minutes left to arrive their homes to explain her subtle changes. Her friend looked stunned by it. Kol saw himself wishing to be like her. Perhaps not a wolf, but definitely something just as powerful.

“I guess this is where I stay.” The girl stated, biting her lower lip.

“Will we see each other again tomorrow?”

“Like we do it every day.”

“OK, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“You will.”

Kol, then, leant in and kissed her right cheek, which made the girl blush, embarrassed. He whispered goodbye and left, a cocky smile shining on his face. This time more confident than ever about his future.

You don´t listen // Montgomery de la Cruz

A/N: I´m from Germany so I have no idea how the schools in America are like.

It was a week ago that you last had spoken to Montgomery. The last time was at the party of Bryce Walker. You were so drunk, that he had to drive you home and walk you to your front door. And that´s when you did something you regretted. You kissed him, you kissed him in your drunken state, but the worst part was that he pushed you away. He didn’t even want to kiss you and it hurts. The problem was that you had a crush on that brown haired boy with freckles, but since that night you couldn´t look at him, you were too embarrassed.
You were walking through the hallways of Liberty High, making your way to communication class. You sat down in your usual seat in the classroom. You were the first on in class so you pulled out your phone, answering texts from Jessica and Sheri. “Hey Y/N, how are you?” You looked up and saw Sheri standing in front of you. “Hey Sheri, I´m good and you?” You greeted her with a small smile. “Good, I never thought I would see you here today?” She exhaled with a small smile. “What do you mean?” You tried to sound confused, but of course you knew what she meant. This was the only class you and Montgomery had together and to avoid him you skipped it. “You skipped this class for almost a week.” She said and you rolled your eyes. “Well, I´m here now.” You answered and she nodded, sitting down in front of you and started conservation about something that happened during cheerleader practice. People started to gather in and with them also Montgomery and Bryce; of course they had to sit down on our table. “Hello Lady´s.” Bryce greeted you smirking. Sheri greeted him with a short hello while you just nodded. “Y/N, haven’t seen you in a while, you look good.” Bryce shoots you a smirk, winking at you. “Thanks Bryce.” You said and rolled your eyes. You sighed in relief when Mrs. Bradley came through the door and began her lesson.
For the rest of the class you scribbled in your text book, avoiding every glance Montgomery shoots you. After the bell rang you almost stormed out of the class room, making your way to the library, the only quiet place and also the best one to avoid Monty. “Y/N, wait a minute.” You heard Montgomery shout after you and you quickened your pace. He turned you toward him and looked at you confused. “What?” you snapped pushing his hand off of your shoulder. “You have been avoiding me.” He simply stated and you rolled your eyes. “I have not and now excuse me I still have an essay to write.” You tried to walk away from him but he stopped you again. “Is it because of what happened at your porch last week?” he asked and you took in a sharp breath. You shook your head no, avoiding his gaze. “Come on, Y/N/N, look at me.” He whispered and grabbed you hand, squeezing it slightly. “Stop Monty.” You said and pulled your hand out of his grab. “Stop being nice. That makes hating you a lot harder.” You whispered and you knew it was childish but it was your way to protect yourself. “You hate me, but kissed me?” he asked clearly amused. “God, I take everything back. You´re an asshole.” You mumbled more to yourself and walked away from him, not only hurt and embarrassed but also pissed. “Come on, Y/N/N, it was only a joke.” You shook your head, tears starting to well up.

You sat in the library trying to focus on your essay. But every time you tried to form sentences your thoughts to that arrogant jock. Maybe it was your own fault. When you didn’t kissed him and controlled your emotion, you wouldn´t be in this situation. You could no longer pretend to see him just like a friend, like you didn’t fall for him.
Your phone, what was lying next to your text book, began to vibrate. You looked down and saw that it was Sheri, asking you if you want to go get a coffee with her after cheerleader practice. You told her that you will wait for her at the parking lot. After half an hour later you made your way into gym deciding to wait on the bleachers for Sheri.
When you stepped into the gym Sheri instantly spotted you. “Hey Y/N” she greeted you with a big smile and waved at you. Your gaze wandered around the gym and you spotted Montgomery. You thought about leaving again, but decided against it; it would look stupid and childish. So you sat down on the bleachers, pulling the book you were recently reading out of your school purse. You tried to focus on the words written in your book, but your eyes always wandered toward Monty. To say he look good in his baseball shirt and sweatpants was an understatement. You noticed that you began to bit your lips and instantly stopped, turning your attention back to your book.
“Hey Y/N, do you wanna play with my bat?” Bryce shouted flirty at you and the rest of the boys began to laugh; except for one jock who shoot daggers toward Bryce, what you didn’t noticed. “I think you couldn´t handle my swing, Bryce.” You shouted back, with a fake smile on your lips. The boys behind Byrce laughed and with them the Monty. But Bryce wouldn´t give up and walked toward you. “Well, but I can try. I could skip the rest of practice and we could go over to my house.” He leaned on his baseball bat smirking and winked. “In your dreams, Walker.” You looked back down at your book, feeling uncomfortable that the whole gym is watching the scene. “But we could make this dream come truth.” He smirked up at you and you sighed. “Stop talking before I throw up.” You shoot him another fake smile, hoping he would finally stop. He lifts his hands in defense and turned around, going back to his friends and continue practice. Your eyes meet Monty´s and he shoots you small smile.

You lay on your bed finally finishing your essay that was due in two days. A knock on your door tear you from your essay and in your doorway stand your mother a smile on her lips. “What is it, Mum?” you asked, returning the smile. “Well, there is this good looking boy standing in our living room, asking to see you.” She simply stated and you raised your eyebrows surprised. “Wait, what good looking boy?” you asked her confused, sitting straight up in bed. “You know the one with freckles. He says his name is Montgomery.” She answered and you let out a sigh. You got up and walked behind your mother downstairs. Midway down the stairs you stopped, looking at Monty with a frown on your face. He was talking to your father and they seem to get along, normally your father hates every male that comes near you. “What are you doing here?” you asked from your spot on the stairs and Montgomery turned around, a nervous look on his face. “Uhm, I wanted to talk to you.” He said and shoots you an even more nervous smile. “Are you two together? I mean is he your boyfriend?” asked your father and looked at you delightful. “No dad, we are not together.” You look at your father who held now a slight disappointed look. “Come Monty, we´re going to my room.” You said and began to walk upstairs again, hearing him sprinting toward you. “Keep the doors open you two.” Your mother shouted after Monty and you. “God, Mom stop.” You mumbled, but by her snickering you knew she heard you.

Montgomery stands in the middle of your room, looking at your pictures and the books in your bookshelf. “You have a lot of books.” Montgomery mumbled scanning through your books. “So that´s what you wanted to talk about?” you asked amused, standing next him after closing the door. “No, of course not.” He said, finally turning toward you. “So that night when you kissed me, I pushed you away, not because I didn’t want to kiss you but because you were drunk. I doesn´t want to take advantage of your drunken state.” He said and you laughed sarcastically, which earned you a confused look from Montgomery. “You don’t have to say this so I feel better. It´s ok. You didn’t want to kiss me, it was my fault that my feelings overwhelmed me, so no need to feel bad.” you rambled looking at your hands. “Like always you don’t listen. I want to kiss you since middle school, but you were drunk and I wasn’t sure you really wanted to kiss me, so I pushed you away.” Your head immediately shoot up when his words had sunken in. “You want to kiss me since middle school?” you asked surprised, a small smile forming on your lips. “Well, yeah. Your lips look really kissable.” He mumbled and you chuckled at his words. “Same goes to you, I guess.” You whispered smiling at him. “Why didn’t you kiss me, when you wanted to do it since middle school?” you asked amused, lifting an eyebrow playfully and he rolled his eyes. “We´re friends and I didn’t want to ruin it. You´re one of the few people who put up with my bullshit.” He whispered taking a step toward you. “Yeah, you can count yourself lucky, de la Cruz.” You smiled at him, also taking a step forward. He hummed approvingly, his hands wandering to your hips, pulling your slowly closer to him, while your hands rested on his triceps, making their way to his shoulders and then to his neck. Before you could make another remark his lips were pressed against yours. You pulled him closer by his neck, enjoying the kiss. It was better than that night. He gingerly bites down on your bottom lip, which elicited a moan from you. Monty used the opportunity to deepen the kiss, while he pulled you closer by your hips, your hands tugging slightly at his hair. When someone cleared their throat you broke away, panting slightly. You looked at your mother, who held an uncomfortable smile on her lips. “Yes mom?” you asked; your cheeks flushed out of embarrassment. “I, uhm, just wanted to bring you kids something to drink and a snack.” She mumbled, putting the tablet down on your desk. After making her way back to the door she looked at you with a smile on her face. “So you´re sure he´s not your boyfriend?” she asked and you groaned in annoyance. “Bye mum.” You said and pushed her out of the door, closing it behind her. “That was awkward.” You said laughing. Monty nodded and walked toward you, pulling in another kiss. This was one was much shorter, but not less sweet. Monty pulled away, too early for your liking, smiling down at you. He leaned his forehead against yours before asking: “So, tomorrow Monet´s after school?”

Yes you, an ordinary civilian, was dating an individual that helped to save the world on pretty much a daily basis……it was like your life had suddenly turned into a script from a movie and even now as you felt his presence and you looked upon him you still couldn’t wrap your head around it all.

“Are you watching me sleep again [y/n]?”

A tired smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he slowly, and a little reluctantly, opened both of his eyes. He knew you did it every morning but until now he had never mentioned it. It amused him that rather than getting up and starting your day you would just lay there and watch him instead. He couldn’t see any fascination with him sleeping but if it kept you happy then he would live with it.

“(Y/n), wait!”

Quickly you turned around the next corner, trying to escape the boy the well-known voice belonged to, but he must have run, for he had reached you shortly after, a wide grin on his face.
Smiling back weakly you looked up at him. “Hey, Merlin.”

Oh god, you just wanted to get away.

After all you needed to do the laundry, then clean up the guest chambers, and then… you needed to continue avoiding Merlin.

You weren’t sure how obvious your crush on him was, but you knew the longer time you’d spent with him, the more nervous you’d get, the more hopes you’d make yourself, and you just couldn’t afford that right now.
He maybe was a servant, just like you, but he was Prince Arthur’s personal manservant. You were the kind of girl that was basically responsible for everything, that no-one else wanted to do.

Literally.

Making Peace with the Enemy / Montgomery de la Cruz

Clarifications

You were beyond angry.

You have had many conversations with your boyfriend, Monty, about him getting into fights with your brother and vice versa.

Montgomery and Alex both mean the world to you and you hate to see them at each other’s throat. Sometimes they were okay, but you knew that in the blink of an eye one of them could easily push the other over the edge.

You weren’t being unreasonable when you asked them for it to stop-you just didn’t want either of them to get hurt. More specifically, your brother. While you knew he could pack a punch-if you were being honest, you wouldn’t put your money on Alex in a fight between the two. Especially if he had been provoking Monty.

Your friend drags you through the hallways of school, guiding you to the two boys whose punishment you were already mentally preparing.

Pushing your way through the crowd, you grumble under your breath at them all for not bothering to try and break the pair up.

When you finally managed to shove your way to the front, your arms crossed over your chest.

You knew better than to jump in between them, so you just stood there glaring at them and waited for Monty and Alex to both run out of energy.

You couldn’t believe them, after your relentless begging and attempts to mend some form of relationship between them, they go and do this!

Shaking your head, you take a step closer-careful not to get in the middle of their brawl. “Are you serious?!” you demand, raising your voice so they could hear you over the commentary of the crowd and the grunts of their opposition.

It took a few moments and a couple extra jabs at one another before they stopped, realising you were waiting for them to calm down.

“Babe,” Monty begins, almost a pant. “I can explain.”

Alex rolls his eyes and wipes at the blood on his mouth, “You sure you’re capable of stringing together enough words to make an actual sentence?”

“Oh, shut the fuck up Alex!” he replies.

“Shut it! Both of you!” you yell.

The group of students had fallen silent, not wanting to risk interrupting you.

“I don’t even want to deal with this right now,” you groan, pinching the bridge of your nose. “When will you grow up?” you ask. “This has got completely out of hand, you can’t keep doing this.”

“(Y/N),” Alex tries.

“No! Just stop. I’m sick of your excuses.” Monty snorts at your scolding, “Don’t even get me started, Monty,” you spat. “I’m mad at you both.” Your head was starting to pound, you hadn’t even been around them for more than a few minutes and you already felt drained. “I’m going to turn around and start making my way to class, okay?” you tell them slowly. “If either of you so much as tries to start this shit up again,” you continue, waving your hand towards them to show them what you were talking about, “I will not be responsible for my actions.”

Your brother mutters something under his breath, but the sharp glare you send him shuts him up.

“Go clean yourselves up, you look terrible,” you declare.

You weren’t sure how it happened, but once you turned your back on them…it was as if everything around you had gone into past forward while you were stuck behind.

Monty and Alex were back on the floor using their fists to communicate and the crowd of students had become erratic. The people around you were pushing you forward and you ended up falling right beside the quarrelling boys.

You couldn’t make out who’s leg the foot was attached to, they were moving too fast to take notice. It had come out of nowhere and taken you completely by surprise.

It felt as if the pain hit you in slow motion, as if you were frozen in shock. Finally your body caught up with your mind and a wave of pain ran down your arm.

“Oh shit!”  “(Y/N)!”

Their voices were blended together and their faces became blurred by the tears in your eyes as they pushed their way in front of you. “Are you okay?”

“Of course she’s not okay! Look at what you did!”

“Me?!”

“Stop!” a third voice chimed, your friend more furious than ever as she moved so she was behind you, her hand resting against your back. “It doesn’t matter who did what, look at her! The fault is on both of you.”

You felt dizzy and your head was pounding worse than before. The pain in your wrist was burning and you couldn’t look at it, you knew it had been damaged.

“Is it broken?” Monty asks, crouching beside you and resting a hand on your shoulder. You pull away from his touch and let your friend help you to your feet. You release a small whimper and cradle your hand to your chest. You’d never broken anything before and you weren’t sure. You didn’t think it was…but the pain wasn’t going away.

“Let’s get you to the sick bay,” you friend says softly. “Then we’ll go from there, okay?” You appreciated her attempts to calm your nerves and nodded in reply. “Neither of you will follow, got it?” she demands, directing her attention to the two boys who were standing behind you like lost puppies.

“Like hell-”

“Monty,” you interrupt. “Just go,” you sigh. “Both of you please just go away.”

You didn’t blame them for what happened…not really anyway. You just couldn’t be around them right now.

Hesitant knocks echo around the room as the door is slowly pushed open, “Can I come in?”

You mumble a response to your brother and he enters your hospital room, closing the door behind him.

After your friend had taken you to your schools sick bay, you had been taken to the hospital for a doctor to treat your wrist. It hadn’t been broken, but they wrapped it up and you were waiting for the doctor to return to give you the all clear to leave.

“I’m so sorry,” he insists. “I never-we never meant for you to get hurt.”

“It’s not your fault, Alex,” you admit. “I’m not mad about what happened, I just wish it never did. It didn’t have to,” you insist. “Why are you and Monty always at each other like that?”

He adverts his eyes, refusing to answer, which causes you to sigh.

“I’m not asking you two to be best friends,” you reason, letting your head fall back against your pillow. “I just want the fighting to stop. It would be great if you two could get along…but I’m not going to push my luck.”

Alex’s lips tug up into a small smile of amusement and he takes a few more steps into the room. You pat the empty space on the bed beside you and he happily takes a seat.

You rest your hand on his and you squeeze it gently, “I need you to understand something,” you tell him. “I love you, you’re my brother-my family-and that means everything to me. But I also love Montgomery,” you whisper. “The way I feel about him…I’ve never felt like that before.”

Alex nods, showing you he was listening to what you were saying.

“My family will always come first, Alex. You know that. But I don’t want to ever have to choose between the two of you. I don’t ever want to be forced to make that decision…but if the fighting continues and if it’s the only way to prevent both of you from getting hurt-one day I might have to. Do you see what I’m trying to say?”

He was silent for a moment, letting the silence engulf you both. “That you would choose me over him?” he asks with a teasing grin.

You slap him on the shoulder with your unarmed hand, “Alex!”

“I get it, I do. I promise I’ll try harder.”

“Thank you.”

Another round of knocks was heard through the door and when it was pushed open, Monty stepped through. “Am I interrupting?” he asks hesitantly.

You shake your head, a smile taking over your face, “Never. Come on in.”

He moves towards the bed and stands at the foot. The silence that surrounded the room was no longer comfortable, but awkward.

Alex got to his feet and kissed the top of your head quickly before making his way to the door, “I’ll leave you two alone,” he decides, stepping out into the hallway and closing the door before you could say anything.

Your attention turns to your boyfriend who seemed to be shuffling uncomfortably on his feet. You roll your eyes and hold out your arm, waiting for him to come to you.

Monty slowly walks around the bed and leans over the bed to pull you into an embrace. Your release a content sigh and hold him tightly against you.

“I’m sorry,” he whispers. “I-”

“I know,” you smile, cutting him off.

“You’re not mad?” he asks, not bothering to mask his surprise.

“Not so much anymore,” you tell him. “I don’t care about my wrist, it will heal. I care about you and Alex. Like I was telling him, I don’t want you to be friends-well I do, but I’m trying to be realistic,” you ramble, causing him to laugh. “But I do want you to try and be civil at the very least.”

He nods, “I know and I’ve really been trying.”

“I understand that, Monty,” you sigh. “And I’ve seen you try and control yourself around him…I know it might take a while, but I don’t want anything like this to happen again. I can’t stand to see you both fight like that. It really hurts me,” you admit.

Regret fills Monty’s face, “(Y/N)…”

“I’m not blaming you. Or Alex. I just…”

“I understand,” he declares. “I’ll try harder.”

“Thank you,” you smile. “You don’t know how much that means to me.”

Monty cups your face gently and his eyes lock on yours, “I love you,” he says quietly.

You place a hand on one of his and take it in your hold. You move it to your lips and press a soft kiss against his already bruised knuckles. “I love you too, Monty.”

“And what was your connection with the victim?” Sam asked Miss Pope, the woman who had witnessed the victim murdered in the woods by a mysterious figure that had disappeared into thin air afterwards.

“She was my fairy godmother.”

Dean nearly choked on his drink. “She- I’m sorry, what?”

“You think I’m crazy,” the woman smiled sadly, shaking her head to herself.

“Everyone does,” she continued, “doesn’t change the fact that someone, something, killed her. I know what I saw detectives, a cloaked figure killed Louarna and there was nothing I could do to stop it.”

Sam gave her a sympathetic look before he asked, “is there anything else you noticed about that night? Any strange smells or flickering lights on the street before?”

“I think I saw-” an abrupt knocking on the door stopped Miss Pope in her sentence. “Excuse me,” she got to her feet, heading for the door and leaving Sam and Dean sitting in the lounge.

Dean gave his brother an exasperated look, throwing his hands up, “freakin’ fairy godmothers, man? What is this chick on?”

Sam shrugged. “We’ve come across weirder things, Dean.”

“Hey, maybe we’ll find a frog that turns into a princess,” Dean scoffed.

“Well, that’s highly unlikely,” another voice spoke as a different woman walked through the door followed by Miss Pope.  “All those curses died out many years ago, Dean Winchester.”

Ding dong!

Ding dong!

“Y/N! Open up!”

Shit. You were hoping he forgot.

You lazily walk over to the door and pull it open. “Yes, sir? What can I do for you?” You say dryly.

Your friend Justin looks you up and down and shakes his head.

“Why aren’t you ready?” He asks annoyed.

“Ready for what?” You say trying to sound as innocent as possible.

Justin just gives you a bitch face and then invites himself in.

Meant to be - Montgomery de la Cruz

A/N: Before anything, I want to leave clear I’m not a fan of Montgomery’s behaviour in the show, but I really like the actor who plays him and I wanted to give it a shot writing about him. So in this AU Montgomery has already realised he’s been a dick and has changed for the better; then, this fluff takes place :)

As always enjoy!!

“Monty, you need to relax. Everything’s gonna be totally fine.”

“Oh, believe me, I can sense it’s not. What if I embarrass myself? Or say something inappropriate? I’d only worsen the bad reputation I already have.”

You couldn’t do nothing else but watch the way his shoulders sank down after his words, regret taking over his countenance.

Even though you tried to look for the softest way to answer, you also knew you had to be honest, otherwise you wouldn’t help him.

“Okay, the image you worked yourself over these years wasn’t the best one, true, but you can’t cling to that, you need to move on.”

He hung his head low, watching the nervous interaction between his fingers. It had been a long time since he last felt okay with the jerkish manners he used to have. Although it took him a while, he eventually realised he needed to change.

It wasn’t until then that he understood the happiness he had been looking for in his tough and cruel behaviour had always been in being kind and respectful to others.

Using a low, if not barely audible voice, he asked “You know I’m in the process of changing that, right?”

With that question he intended to erase once and for all, the insecurities that in occasions crossed his mind. He feared you continued thinking that old Montgomery still existed. He dreaded the idea of you not trusting his will of amending all of his past mistakes. But, most of all, he despised the idea that you didn’t believe in him.

“Of course baby, you should be very proud of yourself”

You walked towards his standing figure in front of the views his window offered, wrapping your arms around his chest and placing a soothing kiss on the crook of his neck.

“You don’t have anything to fear, my mom’s gonna love you, and, despite what others may think, you’re a good person, don’t you dare to forget that, you hear me?”

He tilted his head in your direction and gave you a wide grin that reached his eyes, before placing a chaste kiss on the tip of your nose.

“You really think that?”

“Baby, I’ve thought that all along”

He turned completely to face you, placing one hand at the small of your back and the other cupping your cheek. Staring at your orbs he understood why he wanted to change for the better so much: the cruelty he had been filled of until then would only have ruined the kindness and innocence you possessed. He didn’t want that, he intended to give you as much as you gave him.

“I love you”

***

“Are you still nervous?”

“No, I’m fine”

“Baby, your hands are sweating”

“I just hope I don’t embarrass myself, just that”

You chuckled, looking for your keys in your back pocket. The smile erased from your face when you didn’t touch the cold metal. “Ugh, I think I left my keys at your place” “Why is it that I don’t find it any surprising?” He laughed when you rejected the peck he was about to leave on your lips. “Let’s just knock” he suggested.

“Who’s there?” Your mother asked from the other side “Us” “I like the way that sounds” she mumbled to herself, before unlocking the barrier that separated you.

“Mom, this is Montgomery. Monty, this is my mother”

“Monty? Is he your boyfriend Monty?”

“Yeah”

“Like, your boobear?”

“Boobear?” he interrupted, giving you an amused look. You could feel the burn coming from your embarrassed face.

“Mom! You were the only one who knew I called him that way!”

“Oh… sorry”

Monty looked at you with loving eyes, action your mother didn’t ignore. The fact that you called him that when talking to you mother made him want to run to the highest point on Earth and shout out loud to the world how much he loved you. Such a simple fact made him genuinely happy.

“Hey, it’s cute, like, really cute”

He broke the hold of your hands, just to cross one arm around you waist and place a peck on your temple, whispering “my cute boobear”

“Hello Mrs. Carter, I’m Montgomery de la Cruz. Nice to meet you, ma’am”

“Call me Diana. I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, it’s nice to finally meet you”

Your mother opened her arms to receive him with a warm hug. You knew Monty loved hugs, and were sure that would, if not erase, calm his nerves.

You bit your lip to not giggle when she looked at you in between the hug and made a sign of approval.

“What are we still doing here? Come on in!”

***

The afternoon was being lovely. Your mother and boyfriend turned out to get on really well. The conversation between both went smoothly and there weren’t any uncomfortable silences nor awkward sentences to break the ice.

After getting to know each other properly, your mother started talking about you. If there was anything you feared, that was her speaking about “her beautiful baby girl”, because that meant having to share your childhood pictures and, what was even worse, anecdotes.

“Look at you in this picture babe, you’re the cutest” Monty couldn’t get his eyes off your ten year-old self dressed up as Jessie from Toy Story at Zach’s eleventh birthday party. You glanced at it and shrugged as the corner of your lips lifted slightly, remembering the story behind that picture which actually involved him.

What you didn’t expect was your mother bringing your thoughts out loud.

“Did you know when she saw you were dressed as Buzz Lightyear she told me “See mommy, we’re meant to be” she’s had the biggest crush on you since elementary school, haven’t you sweetie?”

“Mom! that’s enough, stop it please, you’re embarrassing me!”

Monty laughed along with your mother. Seeing you still got embarrassed even though you were already dating just potentiated the soft image he had of you, and weakened his willpower to restrain himself from bathing you with kisses constantly.

Monty had never been reluctant to public displays of affection, he didn’t go too far either. He liked to show he cared about you and didn’t wish anything but to make you happy, so that didn’t stop him from getting up from the sofa he shared with your mother to the armchair where you observed their interaction, and kiss you on the cheek.

“You guys make a beautiful couple, honestly. Monty, you’re a really nice guy. I feel like you both complement each other so well” Your mother said giving you both the sweetest smile.

“Yes Diana, we do“

Your joy was her joy.

***

“Thanks for the lovely evening Diana, you’ve been really nice to me, hope to see you soon”

“Of course Monty, there are lots anecdotes I haven’t told you yet” She whispered this last part.

“And I’m looking forward to you telling me all of them” They snickered conspiratorially.

He walked towards you and held you by the small of your back “Mom, I’ll guide him to the door”

“Okay, see you soon, darling!”

Outside the warmth of your house it was already dark, the only illumination being the dim light of the lampposts. You hadn’t realised how much time you had spent with your mother until then.

 “So… did you have fun?”

“Your mother is so cool, I had the time of my life looking through your pictures” He didn’t wait any longer to kiss you slowly yet intensely in the mouth. “You went from adorable, to adorable and hot”

“Shut up!” you giggled, throwing your arms around his neck. “Let me remind you how you persistently claimed you were going to embarrass yourself, and how it didn’t turn out like that”

“My poor boobear! Nevermind, to me you just got even more lovely, seriously”

You brought him by the hem of his shirt and whispered into his ear

“I love you… boobear”

“I love you too. By the way, the eleven year-old you was right from the start, we were meant to be together”
