I Want You to be Safe

Hey there, you lovely people!

Because General Hoff is my new favorite thing (and can there really be too much General Hoff? LOL I think not). Sooo I had to write a fic about it (and Hiccstrid), of course!

Shoutout to @dragonlovertr for this idea and also being the one I send all my rough drafts to LOL. What would I ever do without you, girl? <3

Also, there is a scene in here that I based off of @tarched new and AMAZING General Hofferson fanart. Thanks for letting me use it, buddy!

Astrid strode out of the Haddock house and wrapped her arms around herself. Winter was officially here and it was getting colder by the minute.

She walked down the many steps that led into the village and began searching for the new chief. The girl strolled past buildings and houses that were finally rebuilt. There was still some ice here and there, but Berk was finally starting to look like it used to…before Drago Bludvist.

As she made her way through the village, some of the fellow Vikings smiled at her and some gave her an annoyed look. Change was difficult for some. So, losing their chief and getting used to a new one was hard for many. She was getting the same looks now, with the announcement of her new role. It didn’t bother Astrid at all, not like it seemed to trouble Hiccup. She would tell him not to worry, that it will take time to earn their trust. He would agree but she could tell it still ate at him a little.

The girl spotted Eret heading up to the Great Hall.

“Eret!” Astrid called from the bottom of the steps.

He turned around, “Astrid?”

“Have you seen Hiccup?”

Eret stood in thought for a moment, his hand on his chin, “I think the last time I saw him, he was flying down to the docks.” He pointed in the direction, like Astrid wouldn’t know where the docks were.

“Thanks!” Astrid turned back around and headed that way.

I’m also so fucking pissed at how Alex and Meredith said ‘Kepner?!!’ when they realized April was going to be interim chief of general surgery. It was so condescending and rude of Alex and Meredith to act like that. This is reminiscent of seasons 6-9, when April was ruthlessly bullied for doing her job. April is more than capable of handling that job and she’s a brilliant surgeon. And Jackson better side with April or I’m going to riot.

More headcanons for the opposite element AU:

- Sokka, Katara and Yue grew up together and are close friends. In this AU Yue’s name is Hinata (meaning ’facing the sun’) because of the sun’s importance to the Fire Nation.

- Aang’s firebending teacher is Master Hama, The Dragon of the West, who also taught Katara when she was younger. Hama was never captured in this AU and is lifelong friends with Kanna.

- Air Nomads have books written in braille that Toph can read. The book she’s reading discusses spiritual projection, which Toph will later use to travel to restricted areas and spy on her enemies.

- Since Iroh is Chief in the North and Ozai is Chief in the South, Ursa didn’t have to kill Azulon. When Ozai tries to hurt Zuko, Ursa puts a stop to it, and she goes with Zuko for his banishment.

I Have an Idea

Okay, so the Voltron team works together so well! And remember that one episode where Lance is all like “We’re like space cops on space patrol!” and I’m like…. dude…. what a great AU!

So imagine this: The Voltron team as New York cops! Or like NCIS Agents!

-Allura would be the Chief or director, giving orders and being a Badass in general

-Shiro would be the hardened detective, squad leader, Leading the team with a stern sense of justice, and an Iron fist (hahah… Iron fist…)

-Keith would be a detective also, working right along side Shiro, Kinda as his shadow, or whatever.

-Lance would be a Beat cop at first, but eventually would be promoted to detective, after working a case with Keith and Shiro or something, and Shiro brings it up to Allura about his natural talent, and she is like, “fine, but he is your responsibility”

-Pidge works in the lab, running analysis on stuff, being awesome and fantastic!

-Hunk would work as a Beat cop, alongside Lance until he gets promoted, but he is still Lance’s go to for information. Hunk is the guy that they send undercover for missions, because people just have a way of trusting him.

-Hunk also brings the team food like all the time, so everyone loves him, and he just wants to make the world a safer place, the beautiful angel!

-He actually wants to take over running his parents restaurant when they retire, so he became a cop in the mean time.

-Coran is (get ready for this) The morgue guy! but like can you imagine!? He is just all cool and collected in front of the dead bodies, and Hunk is in the background throwing up. He is just old and weird, but everyone loves him, and respects him.

-Coran is super in denial about getting old, “Yes of course I can see that Puncture wound!” “No I dont need my glasses! *gets his glasses after they leave*”

-Coran has been there so long, that he has formed a kind of father daughter relationship with Allura, cause he was there when she was working her way up the ranks, and she still comes to him for advice.

-Zarkon would be the crime boss that runs everything in the city.

-Lance and Keith being super competitive on the job, Like Lance: “ I got some information on the heist Keith, did you get anything?” Keith:”actually I did.” Lance: *kind of shocked* well what did you find then? Keith: I’m not telling you, cause then you will tell Shiro and pretend like you found it! Shiro: “why dont you both tell me what you found before I fire both of you and replace you with Coran!”

-Shiro having PTSD because he is a retired Marine, and got blown up and has scars all down his left arm, and all over.

-Pidge uses her access to the government computers and databases to search for her missing family, who as it turns out were in Shiro’s squad, when he was in the military

Oh my god I have so many ideas for this!!

I’ll probably come back and add more!

I said that for toku ladies week I would make a post listing why I think every main rider from shows I’ve seen could have been a woman from their show instead and I was mostly joking but then I did it anyway

What she says: I’m fine.

What she means: Josephine Montilyet is one of the best and most interesting characters in Dragon Age yet she’s not regarded as such in the series. People paint her as lackluster and boring when she’s had a full life filled with adventure. She grew up in a noble family in Antiva and became a bard at a young age but left the occupation after ending someone’s life at the fault of the Game. Following her time as a bard, she worked her way up to becoming the Chief Ambassador from Antiva to Orlais, familiarizing herself with Orleasian politics and culture. Josephine was recruited to the Inquisition and dedicated all of her time to making sure the organization succeeded. The Ambassador is one of the most hard-working, dedicated characters in the series. Not only that, but she remains kind-hearted and principled even when dealing with the most difficult of people. More so than others, she is also resourceful and works to ensure a proper solution to all and any problems. (And she can end marriages by placing a glove in the wrong place! Josie also ends up working with the House of Repose - a house full of assassins - post Trespasser!) Josephine deserves more recognition and respect, as she is incredibly underrated, and quite possibly one of the most simplified characters by the fandom in Dragon Age.

Omelia-based review on 13x17

In yesterday’s episode I finally found my passion about Omelia again!! In my opinion the episode is one of the best in this season so far. The episode gave me a lot of feelings and my heart was busy 💔💕💖

I want to start with my favourite scene of the episode, which is not so much about Omelia but also not so much not about Omelia: the talk of Lady chief trifecta about Maggie’s mom. It was a quite refreshing scene and it made me laugh.

This conversation turned fast into somewhat serious (of course Maggie, it was serious from the beginning): Meredith telling Maggie that she needs a reason, an explanation for her mom’s behavior.
Amelia does not share Meredith’s view. To see that the talk to Maggie was not necessary, you could see that pretty clear from her face.

Amelia and Maggie’s mom have some parallels here: They both refuse to explain their actions and behavior to their closest because they are too afraid of the consequences what leads to a lack of understanding in Maggie and Owen.

I think, Amelia started to reconsider her beliefs about not talking to Owen in this scene.

Speaking of parallels, here comes the next: Elsie and Lewis, passionate former surgeons and married for over 60 years.

They are an adorable couple and it is too sad that Elsie doesn’t make it in the end.

Even though they are not on good terms atm, Owen finds honest and loving words about his wife:

She is the head of the neuro department, she is the boss and she is as stubborn as hell too. I know Dr. Shepherd very well and you can trust her.”

Of course people can say something about people what they don’t believe but would Owen say, he can trust Amelia when he doesn’t mean it? Owen knows what he wants.

And finally, here it is: the talk I have been waiting for half a season.

“You don’t get to call what is normal. You don’t know. You want a dream, Owen. And when you have a child you might not get to have what you asked for. You get what you are given and it might be wonderful and it might be painful and it might be both.”

“I know you are scared. Amelia, I think you would be an amazing mom.”

“I was already an amazing mom, Owen. For better and for worse. Are you here for that? Are you here for that?”

The comment about Cristina hurt.
But they started talking and if I hadn’t already been crying during their talk I would have started to during the song of Sleeping at Last. They always make intense scenes even more intense.

I do think they are on the right way to being together again.

Omelia will be the next Lesie, I believe in this.

I have been very sceptical about the pregnancy rumours and I still am. But what the hell is she drinking?? I hope it did taste better than it looked like.
Also: Meredith’s kids are still alive. At least some of them.

Joan (Sunshine-Boy): Autism, a passionate artist and likes anything related to music/art

Jean (Division 6): Autism, his social skills are a bit more obvious when I draw him in groups with the other squadrons, but he is very good at his job and will become an admiral of his own ship. (He is also a grade school teacher in the Sunshine-Boy universe)

Dahlton (Roachbros): Autism, He likes aliens alot, and space, and anything to do with the paranormal or conspiracies. He doesn’t talk to anyone all that much unless you like the same things he does

Joy (Suite Dreams): Autism, she’s bubbly and is very good at keeping things clean. She works as the chief steward in the hotel.

My(Nova): Autism and non verbal, she likes the rain and cloudy days, she likes lizards and catching bugs. A very outdoorsy kid. She is also a picky eater

Marius(Sunshine-Boy): Aspergers, (Some ppl see aspergers as a different category but lately ppl have been putting it in the same spectrum as autism, so I thought including him was necessary.) He likes people but people don’t like him. He has a pet ferret and really loves animals. He’s also pescatarian

Where the Trees Grow #2

Here’s the second part of my entry for @brothersapart‘s contest! You can read the first part here, if you haven’t already. Also, I’ll probably be posting this to my AO3 account soon, so just letting you know. Enjoy!

“It’s just a checkup we’re doing. Making sure everything is running smoothly,” Dean told the chief police officer. He had on his FBI get up, Sam and Jacob safely tucked away in an inside pocket. He watched the chief as she finished up what he assumed was paper work. She paused and looked at him.

“Everything’s great. Well, other than the theft and break-ins here and there, but nothing we can’t handle ourselves.” She had a southern accent, but it seemed faded from years of living in the north. Dean nodded and stood. He reached in one of his suit pockets, the one below his brothers and felt around for his small business card.

Jacob and Sam felt the jacket move as Dean reached a hand in under them. Every movement Dean made was noticeable in his pocket. Even more so in the inside jacket pocket. The two sent each other a look, but remained silent.

After I saw Moana, Moana/Maui thing seems so natural to me. Like, it’s typicall situation from mythology: young woman have children from a god (demi-god, in this case), and the children become great heroes, and start a great clan of tribal chiefs. Through I don’t think Maui will be a great husband: he is wanderer, and Moana must remain a chief. But also I think her people will respect her as a leader (both spiritual and mundane) even if she gave birth to children without (visible) husband. Yes, this romance will be a bit sad: Moana isn’t immortal, like Maui… But her grandmother reincarnated as a skate and become a spirit. Moana will probably have similar fate (through her spirit animal can be something other then skate) and remain in spirit realm.
But this story isn’t topic of movie for children. It more close to some epic fantasy. Through Disney can always make Moana-2, where Maui become love interest of Moana…
But I like another idea. About now, somewhere in Oceania, still live their descedants, who can see and befriend nature spirits…

The President of the Magical Congress of the United States is BLACK and a WOMAN named Seraphina Picquery! Not only do those two facts make her good for representation purposes but also take into account this is during 1920’s!

(She also uses a wand made from famous North American wand maker Violetta Beauvais, which is notorious for “taking to Dark Magic like a Vampire to blood” but she doesn’t care)

Her chief of staff tried to convince her to ban alcohol (as a reference to prohibition) and she replied with “the giggle-water is non-negotiable”.

This is all pulled from Pottermore, we haven’t even been really introduced to her yet and she already seems like a bad ass.

Bandora’s gang of miscreants from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger and their concept art.  I did not include Bandora herself just to focus on the other members who include:

Grifforzer- Bandora’s muscle, her wicked knight in golden armor. He is married to Lami.

Bookback- Bandora’s chief scribe who records all of her deeds.

Totpat- An alchemist with vampiric blood who has yet to taste blood himself.

Pleprechaun- An amoral fae sculptor who seems to be more interested in making monsters than what they are used for.

Lami- Bandora’s spy who became separated from the rest before they were sealed away. She also wears Golden armor, perhaps to match her husband, Grifforzer.

anonymous asked:

Hi Sara! I wonder about Erik's cooking abilities and eating habits. Does he appreciate a healthy diet or is he very picky or would he just eat whatever is in his reach when hungry? And when he has Luna living with him in the same flat, how do they organize housekeeping? I do not think Luna would accept being forced to do everything alone, would she?

Hi Anonym,

and sorry for the long wait. Erik’s cooking abilities are rather basic. He is not a person, who would let water burn, but he is also not a master chief. Something in between the two extremes. And he tends to be a very picky eater. He does not like overly sweet, fatty or creamy stuff, and tends to prefer fish, poultry over meat. So basically he seems a rather healthy eater. But a huge issue with him is his calorie intake. He is a person, who would go through his day only on a cup of tea, and simply forget to eat all together.

About the question how if he does his household chores. He does. In this regard Luna has a pretty pleasant flatmate, who is doing his stuff and does not skip on household chores. They have a weekplan that shows who has what to do, and both of them go after this plan.

Hatshepsut (1508–1458 BC) was the fifth pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of Egypt. Hatshepsut came to the throne of Egypt in 1478 BC. Officially, she ruled jointly with Thutmose III who had ascended to the throne as a child one year earlier. Hatshepsut was the chief wife of Thutmose II, Thutmose III’s father. She is generally regarded by Egyptologists as one of the most successful pharaohs, reigning longer than any other woman of an indigenous Egyptian dynasty. According to Egyptologist James Henry Breasted she is also known as “the first great woman in history of whom we are informed.”

anonymous asked:

on modern naval ships, is there still a First Mate equivalent? What would his/her title be?

There is!  “First Mate” has never really been a navy kind of term; back in in the day, you had the First Lieutenant, who was the senior lieutenant serving under the Captain, and who functioned as the second-in-command.  These days, US Navy ships have the position of Executive Officer (or, “XO” as he/she is called), and that person is the second in command.  The Royal Navy uses the same position, although on smaller ships, the XO is also the First Lieutenant.

(The USN has a job on ships called First Lieutenant, but the person isn’t always a lieutenant, and is never also the XO).

“First Mate” is sometimes used on civilian ships, although these days it’s more likely to be “Chief Mate” that’s the second-in-command.
