Penelope & Derek’s Matchmaking Service

Prompt: The reader and Reid both have a crush on the other person but are too scared of ruining their friendship to tell the other person. Penelope decided to give them a little push and drags Derek into her mischevious scheme.

A/N: This was an idea that popped into my head because I could definitely see Morgan and Garcia meddling in their coworkers love lives. I’m not opposed to making a part two of this, so let me know if that’s something that you would want. Also, anyone who can catch the subtle F.R.I.E.N.D.S. reference that is in here somewhere is my favorite person ever. Enjoy :)

Penelope sighed in frustration as she watched you and Spencer alternate staring at each other. It was almost painful the way that neither of you actually caught the other doing so. It was like some form of fate caused you to look away a second before Spencer decided to look up. Derek noticed her standing in the doorway. “Hey Baby Girl,” he called and walked over to her. She muttered a “hello” before huffing and crossing her arms. “Whoa whoa whoa, what’s the matter gorgeous? Those processing systems in that big brain of yours hung up on something?”

“How does it not drive you crazy?” she mumbled and Morgan raised an eyebrow at her.

“How does what not drive me crazy?”

“The two of them!” she whisper-shouted and spun around walking off toward her lair. Derek rolled his eyes, but obediently followed her down the hall.

“Gonna need a little more information sweetness,” he told her, leaning against the doorframe.

“Oh c’mon, do I need to spell it out for you? (Y/N) and Spencer. The way those two are pining after each other it’s both sickening and sweet at the same time. I’m not even a profiler and I can tell that they are head over heels. I mean I know (Y/N) is because she told me one night when I got her super drunk with the intent of forcing the information out of her, but that is beside the point,” Penelope explained as she pulled up the bullpen’s security video feed and maneuvered the cameras so they were facing you and Spencer’s desks.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m people watching.”

“Do you do this all the time?” Morgan asked standing behind her chair.

“Only when we don’t have a case or anything else to do,” Penelope defended, “You would not believe how boring it gets in here and you people never come visit me!”

“But why- you know what nevermind. Just please tell me that you don’t mess with the cameras in my office.”

“My vision, you are the object of my affection but for the most part my attentions have been focussed on my current OTP as you never do anything interesting in your office.”

“Forgive me for actually doing work instead of making googly eyes at my coworkers.”

“So you have noticed!”

“Of course I’ve noticed. The whole team has noticed. The only ones in the dark about it are the two of them,” Derek chuckled. Penelope smiled as she watched the two of you. You had gone over to ask Spencer something, but he had been so focused on his work you’d startled him and he’d almost spilled his coffee all over himself.

“They are so cute,” she sighed, “Derek I want my OTP to be together!”

“Somehow I don’t think we get a vote or have the power to make that happen,” he replied, kissing the top of her head. Penelope suddenly perked up.

“But what if we did?”

“What are you talking about?” he asked as she spun her chair around.

“What if there was a way that we could force Reid’s hand and make him admit something or ask her out?”

“Baby Girl, Reid has specifically told me that he doesn’t want me messing with this. You think I haven’t tried to get him to make a move?”

“He told you that, but he never told me,” she chirped, turning back toward her computer and started typing away. She pulled up a website for custom floral arrangements and started clicking on various options.

“What are you doing?”

“Creating something that all of you men hate. Competition,” she replied, patting the side of his face. A few more minutes of meddling the order had been placed, ready to be delivered tomorrow morning.

“Why do I get the feeling I’m going to be the one he blames for this?” Derek sighed shaking his head.

“Ha, do not worry my vision. If all goes bad, we pretend like it never happened,” Penelope told him.

You walked into the bullpen the next morning smiling happily as you carried two cups of coffee. You glanced around looking for Spencer, before nonchalantly setting one of the cups down on his desk and arranged the mountain of sugar packets you’d also brought into an orderly pile. You quickly scurried back to your desk and sat down, trying to look casual as you waited for Spencer to arrive. “No coffee for the rest of us, I’m genuinely hurt,” Derek teased, as he sat down on your desk.

“Hey, the only order I remember is Spence’s because it’s the easiest thing ever: a large black coffee and then just bring the whole container of sugar to him,” you replied trying to casually look around him.

“Uh huh,” Morgan muttered, clearly unconvinced.

“Good morning,” Reid said as he walked over to his desk past the two of you.

“Hi, Spencer,” you chirped, “I stopped for coffee this morning and brought you some.”

“Thank you so much, you would not believe the morning I’ve had. How much do I owe you?”

“Don’t worry about it,” you replied tucking your hair behind your ear.

“Well, thank you. Did you know that coffee was banned three times in three different cultures: once in Mecca in the 16th century, once when Charles II in Europe banned the drink in an attempt to quiet an ongoing revolution, and once when Frederick the Great banned coffee in Germany in 1677 because he was concerned people were spending too much money on the drink,” he rambled. You smiled and shoved Morgan off of your desk, so you could actually see Spencer.

“Well, I didn’t know that, but I do know that banning coffee should be a crime,” you giggled. Reid smiled back at you and opened his mouth to say something but suddenly went pale. “What’s-”

“I have a delivery for a Miss (Y/N) (Y/L/N),” a man said cutting you off.

“That would be me,” you replied, turning around. “What can..I..do..” you stuttered as you came face to face with a huge vase of lilies and red roses.

“Sign here please,” the delivery man said, handing you a clipboard and setting the vase down on your desk. You scribbled your signature down on the form and handed it back to the man. “Have a nice day,” he said walking away.

“Yeah, you too,” you muttered still too focussed on your flowers.

“Oh my god, those are gorgeous,” JJ mentioned as she walked over to your desk.

“Who are they from?” Emily asked, joining the two of you.

“I have no idea,” you replied, pulling the card off the side of the vase.

“Read it,” JJ urged leaning in closer. None of you noticed that Spencer had unconsciously leaned closer to the group as well trying to listen.

“Nothing can ever compare to your beauty, but these flowers are certainly a nice way to compliment it. I hope these make that lovely smile of yours appear on your face, signed your secret admirer,” you read out loud and closed the card.

“Oooh, this is interesting,” Emily said nudging your shoulder.

“Any idea who it could be?” JJ asked.

“Not a clue,” you replied, sitting back down in your chair, “I’m not seeing anyone and no one has asked me out recently.”

“Anyone who you hope it is?”

“Yeah, but considering he hasn’t shown the slightest sign of interest I’m pretty sure it isn’t him,” you mumbled. Unbeknownst to you, Spencer had wandered away into the break room fuming. This happened every time he’d finally work up the courage to ask you out on a date or flirt with you at all something would happen. Morgan would come interrupt,  Hotch would suddenly announce that you had a case, or in this case, some jerk would write you poetry and send you flowers. He downed the rest of the coffee that you had bought him and started making another cup.

“You ok, Pretty Boy?” Derek asked watching Spencer stir the coffee quite angrily.

“Just peachy,” Spencer growled.

“Ya know, you could just ask her out. (Y/N) has no idea who sent her those flowers,” Derek casually mentioned.

“Ha yeah right, I’m reasonably certain she’d rather have fancy flower man whoever he is,” he grumbled.

“Fancy flower man? Really Reid, that’s the best you can come up with?” Derek asked trying not to laugh.

“I have plenty of other vulgar things I could call him so don’t push it.”

“Hey, I’m not the one encroaching on your girl, but I would recommend you do something about it before you loose her to fancy flower man.”

“You think I should what?”

“Well, you’re her friend. I’m pretty sure you can find a way to top the giant array of flowers that he sent her.”

“I definitely could,” Spencer muttered, deep in thought, “I need to get to work but first I’m going to get Garcia to figure out who sent those to her.”

“Uh,” Derek stuttered, trying to come up with a way to divert him, “Why does it matter who it is? You should be more concerned with your plan to woo her, you can worry about who it was later.”

“You’re right. I’m going to take my lunch early. I need to go get a few things,” Spencer said and quickly rushed back to his desk to grab his wallet. Derek sighed in relief, happy that he’d managed to redirect Reid’s thought process, and made himself a cup of coffee. Your sudden presence in the break room caught his attention. “And where are you going lady of the hour?” he asked sipping his coffee.

“I’m grabbing another sugar for my coffee and then I’m going to get Garcia to find out who this admirer person is.” Derek did a spit take and started coughing. “Whoa, you ok?”

“Yes, yes, I’m fine. But maybe you should just let this play out? See if he reveals himself to you?”

“Derek, I just want to know who it is so I can tell him I’m not interested. There’s only one guy who’s attention I want and he seems to not really care.”

“Sweetness, Reid is a great guy just a little awkward and shy when it comes to ladies, you might try being a bit more obvious about it,” he teased. You furrowed your brow and slowly turned your head toward him.

“How did you know I have a crush on Spencer?”

“I’m a profiler and I’m really good at my job.” Derek replied.

“Yeah sometimes I forget what we do for a living.”

“And the fact that Penelope can’t keep her mouth shut,” he muttered quietly to himself. Just not quiet enough.

“What did you say?”

“Nothing!”

“I’m going to kill her!” you growled and stormed off toward Penelope’s office.

“No no no, wait!” Derek shouted as he chased after you. You tore the door open and walked in.

“Hello my lovely, what can I do for you today?” Penelope chirped. You narrowed your eyes at her before flicking her on the side of the head.

“OW!” she shrieked. “What was that for?”

“I cannot believe you told Derek that I like Spencer. I told you that in confidence and you swore you wouldn’t tell another soul,” you fumed.

“Technically you told me that while you were drunk.”

“Same thing!”

“But you know I tell my chocolate thunder everything, so you should’ve expected this.”

“Ugh, my life is over,” you whined. “Spencer is still acting weird and now some stranger has sent me flowers. Can you make yourself useful and tell me who sent those at least?”

“I take offense to that comment!”

“Who told shared a secret that she swore she would take to the grave?”

“Fine,” she muttered, “but I already know who sent them. I looked it up earlier.”

“Then who is it?”

“It’s uh, Brian in payroll,”

“Brian in payroll?”

“Mhm,” she mumbled, twisting a piece of hair around her finger.

“Uh huh, does Brian in payroll have a last name?” you asked crossing your arms.

“Yes, yes he definitely does.”

“Yeah? What it is then?”

“Well, I can tell you that it is most certainly not Morgan or Garcia.”

“Penelope,” you groaned. “Why would you do that?”

“I’m just trying to spice it up, you know force our dearest doctor’s hand.”

“Yes and in doing that you’ve managed to scare him. He took off fifteen minutes ago,” you grumbled flopping down in the chair beside her.

“Aw, sweets it’s gonna be ok.”

“My life is over.”

“Hey look on the bright side, at least you got some bitchin flowers,” she said trying to lighten the mood. You lifted your head and glared at her.

“Not funny.”

“(Y/N), you need to get back to your desk and take a look at this,” Derek said as he walked into Penelope’s office.

“And you! You knew she was going to do this and you didn’t stop her,” you growled and stalked over to him, poking his chest.

“As upset as you are right now, I really think you should just go back to your desk. You might like what you find,” Derek replied pushing your hand away. You narrowed your eyes at him.

“If this is another part of this BS plan you two have going on, I’m going to kill you both,” you grumbled, stalking down the hallway.

“What are you doing?” Penelope whispered at Derek, as they followed you.

“Just watch,” he replied with a smug look on his face. You were expecting to see yet another bouquet of flowers that the two of them had sent to you, but you certainly weren’t expecting this. Your desk was scattered with various pieces of paper and rose petals. A large white teddy bear was sitting in your chair with a bouquet of gardenias nestled in its arms and a bag of (Y/F/C) tucked in beside it. You stood rooted in place out of surprise until Derek gave you a slight nudge. You walked forward and picked up one of the pieces of paper. You smiled as you recognized Spencer’s handwriting and started reading. It was a poem by Christina Rossetti, one of your favorites actually “I loved you first”. You had talked about this with Spencer months ago, when you both discovered your shared love of poetry. From the looks of it, he had managed to write down all of your favorite poems on these little notes (probably including a few of his own favorites) and put them all over your desk. You plucked the bouquet of gardenias out of the bear’s arms and smelled them.

“Red roses traditionally symbolize love and passion while gardenias’ symbolize pure, secret love which more accurately displays how I feel about you,” Spencer mumbled from behind you. You immediately spun around and dropped the bouquet back in your chair, before throwing your arms around his neck and crashing your lips into his. He seemed to be stunned for a few seconds, before kissing you back and wrapping his arms around your waist. Hoots and hollers came from all around the office, mainly from Penelope and Emily. You separated a little breathlessly and rested your forehead against his. The pair of you were smiling from ear to ear. “Please tell me this isn’t a dream,” he muttered closing his eyes.

“Nope,” you replied popping the “p”, “I’m real.”

“So I take it you like me too or else I think you’ve been sending some very mixed signals.” You chuckled and kissed him again.

“Does that answer your question?” you asked, after you’d pulled back.

“I think it does, and to think I had a whole speech planned out to make you at least go on one date with me,” he replied scratching the back of his neck sheepishly. You just shook your head and smiled at him.

“That’s so sweet, but how on earth did you have time to set this up? I couldn’t have been gone more than fifteen minutes,” you said, turning slightly to look at your desk,

“14 minutes and 23 seconds actually, but I’ve had the notes sitting in my bag for about a week now,” he told you.

“Ok, that’s enough, back to work all of you,” Hotch said, commotion having finally drawn him out of his office. There was a collective “sorry” muttered from around the office, before Hotch turned his attention to the two of you. “Do we need to have a conversation or can I trust that this isn’t going to affect work?”

“I think we’re good,” you answered.

“Good, now I need to call Dave and inform him that he owes me twenty bucks as do the two of you,” Hotch chuckled motioning JJ and Emily. The two women groaned slightly before reaching for their purses.

“Wait, what?” Spencer asked raising an eyebrow, keeping his arms wrapped around your waist.

“To make a long story short, we started a pool going for how long it would take the two of you to get together after three months of watching the two of you flirt. I had yesterday, Hotch had today, Rossi had tomorrow, and JJ had next Monday,” Emily explained as she walked up the stairs and handed the money to Hotch, who gladly pocketed it and went back in his office to presumably call Rossi who was off on vacation time.

“I cannot believe this! How many people in this office are invloved in our love lives?” you cried in frustration, even though you were smiling.

“Wait, who else is involved in our love life?” Spencer asked, looking down at you confused.

“And that’s our cue to run chocolate thunder,” Penelope muttered, as she took off running dragging Derek along behind her. You shook your head and laughed, all irritation suddenly vanishing.

“Wonder what that was about,” Reid thought out loud, as you unwound from his arms and moved all his gifts out of your chair.

“Don’t worry about it, just remind me to tell Brian from payroll to send her some flowers,” you told him. He looked very confused but just shrugged and kissed your forehead. You grinned up at him, knowing that this was the start of one of the best times in your life.

Words Written on Your Wrist | Soulmates! Spencer Reid x Reader | Part 1

Fandom: Criminal Minds

Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader

Requested: Nope, I just figured I’d jump on the soulmate band wagon

Requests: OPEN

Part 1/?

Summary: Everyone’s wrist has three words on it, the first three words you’ll hear your soulmate say. You think the idea of soulmates is just a bunch of junk, but you’re in for a rude awakening when you meet your soulmate at your new job at the BAU. Because you worry you will lose your new dream job, you keep the fact that he’s your soulmate hidden, pretending as if those three words didn’t exist.

Words: 2639

Warnings: Swearing?

A/N: I was about 5000 words into this and then decided it was going nowhere, scrapped like 2,000 words, then worked with that to make it a series. This has a really slow start I am so sorry. I don’t know if this is very good or if anyone will be interested in me continuing this so I would greatly appreciate feedback! My requests are open so I’d also love it if you would send me in requests! I have reblogged two prompt lists so if you search ‘prompts’ and you’ll find them, just tell me which list it is and then the numbers! Thank you for reading!

I also realize it is late June, not Christmas time, but Christmas facts were the only ones I could come up with so a little bit of grace would be appreciated haha

You hated soulmates. You hated the idea. You weren’t someone’s other half. You were your own self and that’s all you wanted to be. You even went as far as to try to tattoo over the mark on right wrist, but the ink always faded away within hours, so instead you always took to wearing a bracelet over it. Out of sight, out of mind.  The soulmate phenomenon, as it became known as, was one that caused every person to have the first three words they hear their soulmate say, in their handwriting, on their right wrist. As you stared down at yours in the shower, you wished could scrub it away with your loofa.

‘Did you know,’ scrawled in perfectly horrible handwriting across the thin flesh of your inner wrist. ‘Great,’ you thought to yourself, ‘not only does my soulmate have terrible script, they sound like a know-it-all.’ And man, did you hate know-it-alls.

You got out of the shower and pulled on a robe before flipping through your closet to pick out an outfit for your big day. Your first day at the BAU. You had worked your entire life for this, and you couldn’t be more ecstatic. The best minds in the FBI, you thought to yourself with a smile, and you’re one of them. After picking out a long sleeve blouse and nice pants you sat down to clear your head over your absolute favorite beverage, coffee. Reading through the newspaper you idly wondered what kind of people you were going to be working with. You of course knew Hotch and Rossi, since they were the ones to interview you for the position, and they had mentioned the names of the rest, but you didn’t know their faces well.

Downing the rest of your coffee quickly you glanced at the time and decided then would be a good time to head in, early was on time, on time was late, and late was inexcusable, in your mind. You grabbed your keys and bracelet, putting the band around your wrist to hide the words, even though you were wearing long sleeves. The drive to Quantico was easy, there was a light dusting of snow on the ground and you doubted there would be much more considering the Virginia climate, but you didn’t mind. You checked to make sure your go back was in the back seat just in case before going up to the bullpen. Upon entering the BAU area, box under your arm, you were met with an assault on your senses. Everyone was hustling and bustling, and you were amused to see two people, who you assumed to be on the team you were joining, in a loud conversation. Well, conversation wasn’t the word, it was more of a soliloquy by a tall and long haired bean pole while a man who could be a Greek god was looking very annoyed. You couldn’t very much hear the conversation as you entered the large room but as you walked closer on your way to Hotch’s office you were able to make out the words.

“Did you know that if you were to add up the costs of all of the items listed in The 12 Days of Christmas it would be around $1.3 million? And that December 25 was actually….” And that all you heard, because you could feel your heart stop in that moment. It had to be a mistake, there are plenty of know-it-alls in the world, it doesn’t have to be him. Just calm down, you tell yourself, continuing to the office in front of you as if nothing had happened. Your plan was to just ignore it and hope for the best. You’ll be damned if you were going to let something you didn’t even want to ruin your dream job.

You greeted Hotch, setting your box down in a chair and shaking his hand. “I’ll introduce you to the team and show you to your desk. We don’t have a case today, it’s just paperwork, so we have a bit of time.” He said with a small smile, and somehow you figured that that was the most you were ever going to see of a smile. Walking down to the bullpen together you took in the entire team, two beautiful blonde women, one of which was dressed very eccentrically and you knew you were going to like her, a dark-haired woman who looked like a badass snow-white, Rossi, who you had already met, Mr. Greek God, and your soulma-, you mean the long-haired bean pole. “Everyone, I’d like you to meet SSA Y/F/N Y/L/N, she will be joining our team.” You smiled and waved and everyone, setting your box of things down on your desk before Hotch continued, “Y/L/N, this is JJ, Penelope Garcia, Emily Prentiss, Derek Morgan, and Spencer Reid, and you of course have already met me and Rossi,” Hotch said, introducing everyone.

You opened your mouth to greet them but before you could say anything the eccentrically dressed blonde woman came rushing up to you, a huge grin adorning her face, “Oh my gosh it’s so good to meet you, is there anything I can do for you, can I help you get settled in? Would you like some coffee? Do you like coffee?” She asked quickly, motioning a lot with her hands.

You laughed, your suspicion now confirmed, you were going to get along great with her. “I love coffee, actually, and I wouldn’t want to trouble you, it won’t take long for me to get settled in and start working.” You kept your eyes on her and only on her, even though out of the corner of your eye you saw two heads snap to look at you. One of which was that of who you now know to be your soulmate and the other was the other blonde woman, who you assumed knew what three words resided on the man’s wrist. You cursed internally, how could your favorite beverage betray you like this?

“Are you sure?” Garcia asked again, her puppy dog eyes looking at you.

“Garcia,” Hotch’s voice cut into the conversation, stern but amused, “Why don’t you show Y/L/N around since you’re so eager to help.”

“I can do that! Come on Y/N!” She grabbed linked arms with you, leading you around to show you the office to show you were the break room and the coffee pot were as well as what resided on each floor of the building in case you needed anything from other departments. Her optimistic and bubbly attitude lifted your spirits almost to the point of forgetting about the fact that the bane of your existence resided just feet away from your desk.

“So what did you do before joining the BAU?” Asked Morgan when you and Garcia returned to the bullpen.

“I was a Forensic Psychology Professor,” you explain as you sit down and start getting situated at your desk, “I taught at Brown University.”

“A professor at your age? That’s impressive.” Prentiss nodded, eyebrows raised.

“I peeked early,” You joked with a laugh, a bit unnerved that the two people who were staring at you earlier were avoiding conversation. You felt a bit bad not letting the man know that you knew he was your soulmate, but you did want it to jeopardize your job. You just got here, the last thing you need is people either thinking you got the job because you were some one on the team’s soulmate or that you couldn’t think objectively working so close beside him.

Spencer starred at you, his mind going a mile a minute. Has she already heard him say something and didn’t recognize it? Had she already heard him say something and it wasn’t what was on his wrist and he was a glitch? If she hadn’t heard him say anything yet, what should he say? He thought over anything and everything he could say to, wanting the first three words out if his mouth to be eloquent and as lovely as she was.

“What made you want to join the BAU?” JJ, the woman you knew you were Reid’s soulmate, asked.

“I wanted to make a difference, save lives.” You shrugged, feeling like you were getting interrogated, “My uh… My childhood best friend was a victim of a serial killer and I want to catch the type of people that did that to her.” The room fell silent after your confession, though most everyone nodded out of acknowledgement and respect. You turned back to your desk to continue setting out photographs and putting away things but a voice caught your attention, the same one that was rambling off facts when you walked in.

“I’m sorry for your loss.” He said quietly, making eye-contact with you. You knew as a profiler he was looking for micro expressions, anything to let him know that the first three words of that sentence were on your wrist. But they weren’t, so you weren’t technically concealing anything when you simply smiled warmly and thanked him before returning to your desk. You also weren’t lying when Garcia asked you if you found your soulmate yet at lunch.

Most of the team was all sitting at the tables in the break room, idly chatting and getting to know one another when Penelope grinned, leaning in as if she was an elementary schooler asking who you had a crush on.

“So, have you found your soulmate yet?” She asked as she wagged her eyebrows.

“I’m still single,” You say easily, smiling as you took another bite of your soup you brought from home.

“Now that isn’t an answer.” Emily grinned, pointing her fork at you. Damn it, you should have known trying to pass a question off with a non-answer with a group full of profilers wouldn’t work.

“Well, I don’t know, you know?” You try to lie, trying to dig yourself out of a hole, “I know what’s on my wrist, I don’t know what’s on other people’s. Like what if I’m not my soulmate’s soulmate? I don’t want to get ahead of myself if I don’t know what’s on his or her wrist.” Well, that wasn’t a lie, you reason with yourself. “Plus, mine is a pretty common statement, so it could be anyone, I’ve had a few false alarms in the past when I’ve overheard conversations, so I also don’t want to get ahead of myself that way.”

“What does your wrist say?” Jenifer asked suddenly.

She doesn’t beat around the bush.

“I’d prefer to keep that to myself. Not even my best friend knows what’s on my wrist.” Laughing uneasily, you push your spoon around in your bowl.

“That makes sense, it’s a really personal thing.” Garcia nods in agreement and you swore you could kiss her for how easily she dropped the subject.

“Mines what my Savannah first said to me,” Morgan grinned proudly as he held out his wrist, “She’s a doctor at the hospital nearby.”

“What about you JJ? I see a wedding band.” You smile, nodding to her left hand, glad to have the attention off you.

“’You must be’” She repeated holding up her wrist, “It turns out that it’s in person. I actually spoke to Will on the phone before in person, but what’s on our wrists is what we said to each other when we first talked in person. It’s funny, because I introduced myself with my name, so he knew the second he called me that he would be speaking to his soulmate and I had no idea.” She laughed, reminiscing.

“I wish we all had it that easy,” Emily scoffed as she pulled back the sleeve on her shirt. “Mines ‘You look beautiful.’ Do you know how many times I’ve heard that at a bar?”

“Exactly! Its similar with mine!” You exclaim with a smile, glad someone else could back you up on the small fib you told. But as the room fell back into silence you noted that the only other people who had yet to say what was on their wrist were Penelope and Spencer, and by the way Penelope was quickly chewing her food so she could talk you guessed she was going next.

“I haven’t found my soulmate either!” She said quickly after finished chewing, “Nor has our resident Brainiac, but he’s like you, he won’t tell us what his tattoo says either.”

You knew you had to say something, if you didn’t say something you knew it would cause suspicion, so you turned to him, raising an eyebrow, “What’s your reasoning for not telling anyone, Mr. Resident Brainiac?” You ask easily, watching as JJ gave him a sympathetic look out of the corner of your eye, knowing that both of them were probably thinking he was a glitch at the moment.

“M-“ He starts but clears his throat nervously, “Mostly the same reasons as you.”

“Great minds think alike,” you laugh as you begin to close your Tupperware, “But fools seldom differ,”

“But fools seldom differ.” Wait what. You frown. Was your hearing going or did you two just state the second half of that saying at the same time? Quickly recovering, the frown is replaced by another smile as you watch a pink tint rise to Reid’s cheeks. You had to admit, this man was very attractive.

Everyone laughed and Morgan clapped you on your shoulder, the others packing up their stuff as well. When you got back to the bullpen Hotch and Rossi were there, huddled around a file.

“Do we have a case?” Prentiss asks as the team gets closer.

“it seems so, it looks to be a rough one so we will brief on the plane.” Hotch said as he closed the file, then turning his attention to you, “Y/L/N, I trust you have a go bag packed?”

“Yes, I do, sir.” You quickly say, nervous for your first case, especially since Hotch was describing it as a rough one.

“Wheels up in 20.”

As you sat down on the plane the team quickly began discussing the case, the unsub was kidnapping women, holding them for at least a week, stabbing them, and then displaying their bodies in public places.

Spencer read a bit of file out loud, sometimes going on fact tangents relating to something on the page, and you had to admit, it was darn adorable. You’d glance over at him every chance you could without arising suspicion, and you began taking him in in his entirety. You did always have a thing for long haired guys, his cheek bones and jaw line were to die for, and his hands, oh his hands, you decided you loved watching him turn pages in the file. You internally scolded yourself, of course you’d find him attractive, he was your soulmate after all, a match made in heaven. But that gnawing thought in the back of your head that you could lose everything you had worked towards thus far because of some butterflies in your stomach and ink on your wrist dragged you down like an anchor from the cloud you seemed to be floating on.

“There’s no signs of torture besides the stabbing,” You comment with a frown, “Which wouldn’t indicate a sadist, but the stabbing implies a sexual component. He could be impotent.”

“I agree,” Reid says a bit too quickly, looking up at you.

“The displaying and posing of the bodies could be a taunt,” JJ offered, drawing attention away from Spencer.

“When we land I want Prentiss and Morgan to go to the first and second crime scene, Rossi and Y/L/N to the third, JJ and I can go to the Fourth. Reid why don’t you start on the geographical profile.” Hotch designated as the jet landed.

To be Continued.

Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader x Emily Prentiss

A/N: I kinda had fun with this one! I decided to make it a little less serious but I hope it lived up to what you wanted!

The entire BAU team was left speechless when they first laid eyes on you. The way you walked, talked, held yourself, hell, even just the way you moved was enough to captivate them. Everyone in the office had held a small crush on you for a moment, even Hotch was guilty of it. But while most of them quickly moved from it and simply formed a strong friendship with you, there were two that couldn’t quite seem to get over it.

A/N this has been linked to tumblr before and then deleted. It’s such good fun though and it’s in need of an edit (cos it was like the third multi fic I ever wrote) so I’m reposting it!

Reid x reader

“Guys I’m out. Going without sex or orgasms for this long is not worth a grand or the bragging rights in my opinion,” Emily handed her two hundred dollars to Derek with a defeated look on her face. “Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a very handsome fella over there that just offered to buy me a drink. I’m fairly certain he’s gonna be taking me home tonight.” She downed her drink before sauntering across the dance floor to where a dusky haired male had been sat intently watching her for the last hour.

“So it’s just Y/N and Pretty Boy left,” Derek grinned at the pair of you, adding the money to the envelope already containing his own and Garcia’s buy outs.

“You just wanna give in now Y/N?” Spencer looked over at you, a smirk on his face.

“Nope. I’ve got this. I can beat you. I will prove that guys need sexual intimacy more than girls.”

“Oh Y/N come on. We knew it was a long shot any of us beating Reid, but if it was gonna be any of us then it was going to be Prentiss just because of her sheer determination. Just give in now, I saw you eyeing up that bartender.” Morgan raised his eyes at you, glancing over to where the hot bartender was leant over restocking the chillers. Oh my, he had a nice ass. You could definitely sink your teeth into that. You’d bet he had something nice he could sink into you as well.

Reid shifted in his chair, following your glance and leaning into you whispering, “Do it, do it, do it.“

You punched him on the arm, glaring at him.

“You’re not helping Spencer.”

“I’m not meant to be helping, I’m trying to win here. Plus, which one of you was it that paid that escort to come on to me when we first started this little bet?”

“No idea what you’re talking about,” you averted your gaze to the ceiling.

What? It had been the only way you’d initially thought any of you could beat Reid.

Now it’s not like you were suggesting that the only way he could get laid was with a hooker. In fact when this whole thing had started you’d been as surprised as the rest of the team when Spencer had wanted in, you’d all kinda assumed he was a virgin, shocked when he’d revealed that actually his numbers were not that far below your own.

You’d just thought that if you could crack him first, then the rest of them would be easy pickings. So you may have contacted a local escort agency. May have suggested she come on to your friend and colleague and just pretend she’d noticed him across the room. May have offered to pick up the tab for whatever else happened afterwards.

Yet Spencer had recognised her as someone the team had questioned in a local case before you’d joined the team.

This had all started three months ago when Garcia had shown you all that ridiculous story of the 27 year old sex addict who gone along to a group therapy meeting, only for it to end up turning into an orgy.

You’d all laughed finding it hilarious initially until Emily had said, “And let me guess. It’s a man.”

“What makes you assume it would be a guy?”  Derek had been offended on behalf of his gender.

“Statistically speaking it is more likely to be a male. Only 12 percent of women have openly admitted to actually being addicted to sexual activities,” the genius of the group had pointed out.

“Yeah but for it to turn into an orgy there had to have been some women in that group right. Other wise wouldn’t it have just been a load of guys beating themselves off together,” Derek stated.

“I agree with that. There had to have been some women there right? But you can bet it was the men that initiated it. Women find it easier to take care of their own needs without guys, whereas men prefer to have their needs taken care off by another person.” Emily’s come back had had you shaking your head, just waiting for Reid’s next comment.

“Actually, that’s not true either. Studies show that men and women have pretty much the same statistical preference when it comes to either engaging in intercourse with another person or masturbating alone. Around 65 percent of both sexes prefer sex with someone else as opposed to doing it alone.”

“And where do you stand on that preference Spencer?” You saw an evil glint in Derek’s eyes, him spotting an opportunity to make Reid feel uncomfortable.

“Depends what mood I’m in. If I’m feeling lazy then I’ll do it myself. If not then, I find someone to assist and to share pleasure with.”

You’d all turned to stare at him then, everyone’s jaws dropping.

“I’m not a virgin you know. Just cos I don’t come into work bragging about who I spent the weekend doing like Morgan or Emily do, doesn’t mean I’m not actually doing it.”

“Nicely said my friend, nicely said,” you held up your hand to him and he high fived it, a slight grin on his face.

“Hey, what about Y/N? She does it too. We all watched her walk of shame the other week,” Morgan looked directly at you and you shrugged.

“I don’t go into explicit detail like you though. And neither does Garcia.”

“Yet you two were happily discussing what new ‘toys’ you’d bought the other week.“

"What’s your point Morgan?” You were failing to see where this conversation was going.

“I just don’t like the assumption that it had to have been a guy, who initiated the orgy. Women are just as into sex as men.”

“Yes we are my handsome chocolate muffin, but I bet we could go longer without it,” Garcia patted Derek’s arm before looking around at the rest of you. You were all sat at around JJ’s desk, minus Rossi and Hotch who were at a lecture off site.

“You’re on then,” Morgan offered his hand out to Penelope who just gawked at it confused.

“On?”

“Yep. Because I don’t think you could. So we’ll have a wager shall we. Which one of us can go the longest without any sexual activity.”

Penelope thought for a second before declaring, "I’m in. If these guys are.“

And so your little bet was born. You’d all agreed to be 100 percent honest with each other, and although you’d agreed never to profile each other, this was the one and only time you’d all allow it.

The rules were clarified, no sexual activity with another person and no self relief. Kissing would be allowed, but nothing further than that. The stake was set. Two hundred dollars from each of you, the winner taking the pot as well as bragging rights.

“Just to check…… Is this just sex with a member of the opposite sex? Or are we saying that all sex is off the table?” Both Spencer and Derek’s heads quickly turned in your direction, and you spotted a smirk on Emily’s face.

“All sex, regardless of gender….. But when this is over, please feel free to have as much girl on girl action as you like and to fill me in in explicit detail.”

“Haha not a chance Derek, what me and my lady friends get up to, stays between us,” you replied hearing him groan.

Penelope had been the first to cave only four weeks in. She and Kevin had been on a break when the bet was originally made, but now they were back together. She walked into work one sunny morning, an even brighter smile than usual across her face and a floral scarf round her neck despite the rising temperature.

She’d taken one look at us all staring at her quizzically before digging into her purse and pulling out four fifty dollar bills, sheepishly handing them over.

Derek had lasted another five weeks, him becoming increasingly cranky at work. It was hilarious watching him shifting uncomfortably whenever Garcia discussed her previous nights antics with Kevin.

Emily had suggested that you both wear skirts to the office the following day in order to break him, and so you both rocked up in tight fitting A line skirts with long slits up the side, finding every reason possible to have to bend over in front of him.

By the time he’d left for the day you’d both been certain he was going to explode. He sent a group text four hours later, a photo of himself lying next to a hot redhead.

And now three weeks after that Prentiss had declared defeat and from your view across the room it looked very much like she’d be getting her fix within a matter of hours.

You really wanted to win this, but you were also very, very frustrated. Sure you could cheat and go home and browse through a few choice videos on porn hub whilst having a good old intimate chat with your friend Ryan (Reynolds not Gosling, yes you’d named your rabbit. What of it?) but you knew you wouldn’t be able to hide it from the rest of the team the next day. As good a profiler you were, you were a horrendous liar when it came to personal matters.

But now it was down to you and Spencer…….and although the boy wonder had surprised everyone with his confession that he wasn’t a virgin and actually had had an arrangement with a bartender he’d met on a case, he’d already gone eight months without it and didn’t appear to be struggling at all.

Where as you weren’t used to going a few days without at least having a chat with Ryan. Poor old neglected Ryan, gathering dust in the back of your drawer. You’d make it up to him when this was over, maybe even buy him a friend to keep him company.

An idea sprung to mind,“Guys what if this was a draw?"

"What so you both admit defeat now together. That’s no fun. If you do that then it doesn’t prove anything,” Morgan shook his head at you.

“Oh come on, we’re long past making a point now.”

Garcia’s eyes suddenly lit up and she pulled Derek to her, whispering excitedly into his ear, a grin spreading over his face.

“Baby Girl I love it. But they are so not going to go for it.”

Spencer’s eyes narrowed at them, “Go For what exactly.”

“Trust me kid, what she’s suggesting is way out of your comfort zone. No way will you be down for it. Y/N maybe but not you. You just don’t got it in you Kid.”

“Haven’t got what in me?”

You watched the two of them wondering what the hell was running through their sadistic little minds.

“Penelope was suggesting that we change the bet now it’s just you two left…..And instead it becomes a contest to see which one of you can break the other.”

“Break the other? Why would I want to break Y/N? What would I even be breaking, I don’t understand.”

You did, you knew exactly what they were getting at. But you weren’t going to say anything….. Yet.

“Break her newly regrown hymen Reid,” Derek chuckled.

“Hymens don’t regrow, that’s a myth. It doesn’t matter how long a woman goes without sex it doesn’t grow………… Wait what?” he spluttered as his brain finally processed what Derek and Garcia were suggesting.

They fell apart laughing.

But…… It wasn’t actually a bad idea. And it would be seriously fun. You’d formed a friendship outside of work with Reid, but that definitely didn’t stop you thinking he was hot. And watching him getting flustered was the most adorable thing ever. And it would save you having to go out and find someone to fuck when the was all over. You could remain professional at work. It would just be sex after all.

“How would that even work? Like I have to convince Y/N to go to bed with me? Or she convinces me to go with her?” Reid interrupted their laughing and your train of thought and now it was your turn to exclaim.

“Wait what?"

"Essentially yes,” Morgan clarified when he’d regained his composure.

You and Reid looked at each other, each wondering what the other was thinking.

“Oh guys, it’s no secret that you two like each other. That night we played truth or dare….. You both admitted it and we’ve been waiting patiently for something to happen between you…. But you’re not giving us anything!”

Ugh, you’d drank so much that night it was a wonder your liver had not demanded removal from your body. And you’d been so embarrassed the next day when you recalled some of the questions you’d been made to answer, but also pleasantly surprised at some of the answers Spencer had given. But nothing had ever come of you admitting your mutual attraction to each other.

“So would we actually have to do the deed with each other? Or just get the other to admit that they wanted to? And how would you know which one of us won?”

“Either one is good with us, although of course you actually doing it would be mutually beneficial…. Especially after all this pent up sexual tension. And we’d just have to rely on you being honest with us.”

You took a deep breath turning to your friend. Were you going to regret asking this?

“What do you think Spencer? Think you can wear me down? I’m game if you are.”

He looked thoughtful for a moment.

“You know what, I think I can.”

Summary: Aaron Jack Hotchner was born.  The reader has an incredibly close-knit relationship with the team, making it easier to raise her son, but his father has no clue he exists... Or does he?  I’m actually so excited that this fic is getting such amazing feedback, it’s makes me happy to know that there are people who want to read something that I’m very proud of creating.  Without further ado, here is the third part to ‘Gone’.  Enjoy!!

A/N: AJ is Aaron Jack’s nickname for Aaron Jack and Aaron Junior, just in case that confused anyone.

Previously on…

His dad was not here, but Aaron Jack Hotchner was surrounded by the people who love him and will go to the ends of the earth for him, and that was all that mattered.

Aaron was out in the world somewhere with Jack hopefully safe, but wherever he was, he had no knowledge of the baby boy just born with his name.  He didn’t know that you thought about him every day, and probably didn’t know that since he left, you spent every night crying yourself to sleep.  He didn’t know any of this because he was gone.

“AJ, I’m not going to tell you again,” you scolded your son.  He was stubborn as always, trying to play with the toys that weren’t his without permission.

“No, no, he’s fine!  He’s so cute.  How old is he?” the mother of the child whose toys Aaron Jr. kept playing with asked.

“He’s turned three today,” you replied, looking at the boy who looked too much like his father.  His smile resembled that of Aaron’s, and every time you saw it, your heart seemed to skip a beat, not only for the memories of your beloved boyfriend, but for the tiny child that was yours.

The playground was mainly vacated, only a few mothers and their children enjoying the beautiful outdoors that day.

“Mine’s four.  Nearly time to start school,” the mother replied with a sigh.

“That’s a scary thought,” you replied.  And it was.  There was no telling whether or not your son was even safe in any schools.   You hadn’t really thought about sending your son to school, yet anyways.  Your focus was raising him and keeping him safe.  As far as you were concerned, he would be home schooled.  Maybe Penelope would be willing to help out.

As if the computer genius could hear your thoughts, your phone began to ring with her name flashing on the screen.

“Hello,” you said after pressing answer.

“Alright, muffin.  I picked up AJ’s prescriptions and set up an appointment for a follow up in a month.  He’s also set on piano lessons courtesy of a one Spencer Reid.  Oh, and birthday party is set up.  We’re ready for you,” she said.

“Jeez, Penny, you didn’t have to do all that,” you told her with a smile.

“Oh, stop.  I’m happy to.  Now get both of your cute butts over here, we’re ready!” she said.

“Alright, thanks, Penelope,” you replied with a smile.  You motioned to AJ to come to you.

“No problem!  And happy birthday, love,” she finished before hanging up the phone.

“Happy birthday, little man!” the mom next to you said to your son as he approached the bench you were sitting on.

“Mommy’s birthday,” AJ said, pointing up at you.

“Your’s as well?” she asked, smiling.

“Mine was yesterday, but we celebrate them together,” you said, standing up and picking up Aaron.  “It was nice to meet you-”

“Shelby,” she said, sticking out her hand to shake.

“Y/N,” you replied.  “And this is Aaron Jack.”  Your son shyly waved at Shelby.

“Nice to meet you Aaron,” she replied with a smile.  “Hope to see you again,” she told you.

“You too.  Sorry about the toys,” you said sheepishly.

“Again, don’t worry about it.  My son Kale and I come here every Wednesday afternoon if Aaron would ever want to have a buddy to play with.”

“Thank you, that would actually be really nice,” you said honestly.  With the life you two had, another little boy in AJ’s life didn’t sound like a bad idea at all.  “Say bye, AJ,” you said to your son.

He waved again, letting out a tiny ‘bye’ before you walked away from your new friend.  You knew having someone his age to play with would be good for him.  JJ’s boys were always happy to play with your son, but Henry was in school and they were busy most of the time.  Kale would be a blessing.

You walked to the car with AJ on your hip.  Once he was secured in his car seat, you grinned down at him.

“Ready to see everyone?” you asked.  You’d told him about his ‘surprise’ party.  You were never really any good at keeping secrets.  AJ nodded excitedly at you, his smile sending butterflies throughout your body.  “Let’s go then.”

“Surprise!” the team shouted as you walked through the door.  You playfully gasped and looked down at AJ.

He slapped his hands onto his cheeks, opening his mouth in fake shock.  To a room full of profilers, it was obvious you gave up their secret surprise party.

“You told him, didn’t you?” Alvez asked, unable to keep a smile off his face at the sight of your son.

“Sorry, he begged to know if we were surprising him, and how can you say no to that face?” you said in a baby voice, picking AJ up.

“Hey, buddy!  Uncle Spence got you a present,” Reid said, taking him from your arms.  He walked over to the desk that was full of presents, the team, apart from JJ, in tow.

“He’s starting to look so much more like his father,” she admitted to you.

“I know,” you said, watching AJ’s family show him his new toys.  Your heart was soaring at the sight of it.  Despite the heartbreak you’d experienced almost four years ago, there was so much happiness that came to you and so much love surrounded you and your son every day, and you were so grateful for it.

“What are you thinking about?” JJ asked you.

“Just about how damn luck AJ and I are,” you replied, leaning into her side.  She pulled you in close for a warm hug, admiring the vision of her sons with yours.  It was a perfectly cliched moment, but it was all you ever wanted.

Emily stepped away from the group, slowly making her way towards you.  A look passed between the two agents, some kind of silent communication.  You dated a profiler for well over two years, so you knew a thing or two about reading a look.

“What?” you asked.

“What?” Emily asked back, acting nonchalant.

“There’s something you’re not telling me,” you told her, knowing you were right.

“Tell me about the woman you met today at the park,” she said suddenly, catching you off guard.

“Excuse me?” you asked, not understanding what she meant.  “What woman?”

“Y/N, you have a protective detail on you 24/7, and it’s their job to report to me.  They told me about the woman you talked to at the park,” Emily replied.

“So?  I’m aware you keep an all too watchful eye on me and AJ at all times, but why are you suddenly interrogating me on who I happen to converse with?”  you asked, your voice raising a bit.

“I’m just following protocol,” she tried, but you were too annoyed to listen.

“I don’t give a damn about protocol, what is this about?” you asked.  Emily looked at JJ, as if she was silently asking for help.

“We just want to know if you’re trying…” JJ started, but she couldn’t find the words.

“Trying to what?” you asked, skepticism clear in your voice.

“Strauss is worried you’re trying to contact Hotch,” Emily said.  What, you thought.

“How is me talking to a random mom at the park me trying to contact him?” you asked, vocalizing your confusion.

“Are you?” Emily asked sternly, clearly wanting a straight answer.

“No!  Of course not.  Why would she think that?” you said, still unable to understand what talking to a woman at the park meant about Aaron.  JJ looked at Emily, another strange look passing between them.  “What aren’t you telling me?”

“It’s on need-to-know basis, Y/N,” Emily told you, as if that explained everything.

“It’s about Aaron?” you blurted out.  Tears began to form in your eyes.  “If it’s about him then I need to know.”

“Y/N,” JJ started, but you cut her off.

“Do you know where he is?” you asked, your heart beginning to speed up.  The agents at the present table started to quiet down, looking over at you.  You were fixing to go into hysterics, it was obvious.

“No, I don’t.” Emily said.  Her voice was strong.  She wasn’t lying.

“Then what?  Does Shelby know where he is?” you asked, recalling the mom from the park’s name.

“We figured that’s why you were talking to her,” Emily finally admitted.  You furrowed your brows, even more confused than before.

“What are you talking about?” you asked, knowing Emily was probably not going to be able to keep whatever this secret was from you any longer.  She sighed and looked at the other agents, silently telling them all to distract AJ and not listen to what she was about to say.

“Shelby Madison is the woman you talked to today.  She has a son named Kale, that’s who AJ was playing with,” she said.

“I know all this,” you replied, wanting her to spill.

“Shelby Madison is a private investigator,” she finished.  “Strauss thinks you hired her.”

“I didn’t.  I’d only met her today,” you said.

“What did she tell you at the park?  Try to remember the conversation you had with her,” Emily said, not as a friend, but as an agent.

“She asked me how old AJ was, she mentioned her son was four and about to start school,” you recited, slowly trying to remember the words she’d told you.

“What else?”

“She introduced herself as Shelby and asked to see AJ and I again.  That’s it.”

“When?”

“On Wednesdays.  She mentioned her and her son go to the park every Wednesday,” you said, realizing why Emily was asking these questions.  “I’ve never seen her before today.  AJ and I are at the park every Wednesday, too, she was lying,” you said.  “What does that mean?”

“It means someone hired her to find you,” Emily said.

Your heart sped up, your palms became increasingly sweaty.

“Someone like Scratch?” you whispered, the name feeling hot on your tongue.  It’d been two years since you said that name, and although he was out of your thoughts most nights, it was a name that still haunted you.

“No,” a voice said behind you.  The look on Emily’s face said it all.  You knew exactly who that voice belonged to.  It was a voice you hadn’t heard in three and a half years.  A voice you never thought you’d hear again.

It was the only voice in the world you ever wanted to hear, but knew you never could.

You turned to face Aaron Hotchner

“Someone like me.”

Revelations

A/N: Okay, so this AU is for @reidoneshots 2000 followers challenge and I chose no. 9 Revelations (I know The Big Game was mentioned in no 9 but I decided not to incorporate that because someone else was already writing for both eps as well lmao)

This is basically the episode Revelations (2x15) with a reader insert & a slight twist, where basically the reader saves Reid from getting drugged and decides to put her life at risk instead. This is a much happier version to the actual episode, believe me. I know when you start reading you’re gonna be like “yeah right,” but truly it’s so much better. I rewatched the episode and so I made sure that all the dialogue was correct. If there’s anything wrong with the dialogue, please tell me!

“There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. - Ecclesiastes 7:20”

“JJ, look at me,” Emily reasoned with the dazed blonde, she couldn’t fathom what she had done. The hounds lay there lifeless at her doing, her eyes fixed on their bodies before the sound of Emily’s voice snapped her into reality. She hesitantly turned towards her friend. “Where’s Reid?” Emily enunciated clearly, making sure she JJ knew what she was asking. “Oh, uh… we split up, he said he was going to go around back,” at those exact words Morgan bolted out of the dusty barn, his handcuffs in his back pocket shining under the dim light.

Part 2/?

       Part 1 Part 3

Words: 1699

Warnings: none

Summary: Everyone’s wrist has three words on it, the first three words you’ll hear your soulmate say. You think the idea of soulmates is just a bunch of junk, but you’re in for a rude awakening when you meet your soulmate at your new job at the BAU. Because you worry you will lose your new dream job, you keep the fact that he’s your soulmate hidden, pretending as if those three words didn’t exist.

A/N: Thank you all so much for all the positive feedback! It honestly means so much to me!! Here’s the second chapter!!

You and Rossi drove to the second dump site, going over possible theories as you navigated the foreign roads of New York. When you got to the scene you ducked under the yellow crime scene tape and took in your surroundings. It was a park, so very public. There was a bit of snow on the ground, though based on the photographs there was more when she was found.

“She wasn’t found until the snow thawed.” You commented, “There was a blizzard the night she was dumped, which covered the body, that probably upset him, which could explain why there was the short time period between the second and third kills than the first and second.”

“He could also be deteriorating.” Rossi added, walking around.

“I don’t understand what message hes trying to send. He takes average middle to upper class women, holds them for a week, doing god knows what, but it isn’t torture, then stabs them, then lays them in very public places. They all had contusions on their head, so blitz attack, the unsub either isn’t very physically big or lacks the social skills to lure them.”

Rossi agrees, giving the scene another once over before going back to the SUV. As you began driving back to the local precinct, silence took over the car and you thought that you couldn’t wait for 3 months from now when you’re settled in and part of the team. Since they act so much like a family, you felt a bit on the outside. That is, if you last three months and this soulmate situation doesn’t rear its ugly head. After a bit Rossi laughed, well not so much laughed but moer so pushed air through his nose in an amused manor.

“You do know that the Bureau keeps record of what’s on all their agents wrists, right?” He asks, looking at you with an expression you couldn’t quite make out.

“Yeah I know, I remember them taking a photogr- Oh. You heard, didn’t you?” Your stomach drops as you realize what he was getting at. Of course your superiors would know what your tattoos said in case there was a conflict of interest on a case or for identification purposes.

             “I did.”

“What does this mean?” You ask, hands gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles.

“I think that depends on how you want to handle the situation.”

“There isn’t even a situation in my mind. Or at least I don’t want there to be. I don’t want a soulmate. I’m happy with my job the way it is and I don’t want to risk it. I’m my own person, I don’t need another half.” You say with a sign.

“So you’re just going to let him keep thinking he’s a Glitch?” You can hear the disappointment and sadness in his voice. Of course, he would be sad for his friend, they had been working together for years.

“I don’t know. I just. I don’t want a soulmate.” You say quietly, a guilty feeling settling in your gut. “Please don’t tell him.”

“We’re bound by laws that say we can’t reveal what anyone’s tattoos say, it’s one of the strictest rules we have in the FBI, so I couldn’t even if I wanted to.” Rossi says as you pull into the parking lot of the local police station and you let out a sigh of relief.

“Good, you’re back, what did you find?” Hotch asks as you walk in.

You and Rossi go over all of the things you noticed in detail, explaining your theories. Spencer was standing in front of a white board, a map taped to it, mumbling something to himself and then writing it down on the board, and that guilty feeling started to rise again. Quickly looking away you grabbed the file for the case.

“Y/L/N, why don’t you go talk to the victim’s partners, we have them in the interview rooms, Reid, will you join her?” Hotch asks after a moment.

You curse internally, though you plaster a normal look on your face and nod, waiting for Reid to finish the geographical profile before you go to the interview rooms. Glancing at him you kicked yourself, you have to get over the awkward and guilty feelings, you’re going to be working with him for a long time, hopefully, so you need to get better at acting normally around him, you tell yourself.

“Hello, my name is Dr. Spencer Reid and this is SSA Y/F/N Y/L/N,” Reid introduced you both and you shake the fiancée of the first victim’s hand.

You two went through the motions of questions, did Angela have any enemies, what were her habits, where was he last, the works. You ignored the nagging feeling that was pulling you left, which just so happened to be the side of you that Spencer was sitting on. It was like your body was telling you to reach out and touch him, but you definitely kept your hands to yourself. Though you hate to admit you moved your chair forward and to the left a couple inches, disguising the leftward movement with the forward one. Maybe if you were closer it would get rid of that annoying feeling and you could concentrate more.

“No, no I don’t think she had any enemies, everyone loved her. God, I loved her. We weren’t perfect together like everyone else but we loved each other, we made it work.” The fiancée went on, tears in his eyes. You frowned, what could he mean by that?

“Im sorry for asking this, but what do you mean?” You ask, leaning forward a bit.

“Angela and I met in a support group for Glitches.” He clarified.

You and Spencer nod, and you see Spencer fidget uncomfortably. After that you finish the interview quickly, moving onto the next the second victims husband. When you walked in and shook his hand you immediately noticed that his wrist was bare, and you frowned. Not only was this man a Glitch, he was a Blank. You envied him. You glanced at Spencer, wondering if he had noticed the pattern arising as well, but he didn’t seem to look at the man’s wrist at all. As you Reid was about to dismiss the man after asking all the routine questions you quickly interrupted to say that you had one more question for him.

“How did you and your wife meet?” You ask, hoping that this could give you at least some direction.

“We uh, we met at a group for Glitches.” He said as he held up his wrist you then thanked him for his time and he left.

“Both of the couples so far met at the support group, we should ask the others as well.” You say quickly, “It could be where the unsub is meeting them.”

“I agree, good catch,” Reid says with a small smile, but you noticed he didn’t make eye contact with you.

Soon enough you found out that out of the four couples, all were Glitches, all four of the four couples met at support groups. When you explained this to the team, they immediately called Garcia asking about all the support groups in the area. Glitches weren’t that common, only about one per million people, and New York state’s population was just under 20 million people, which meant there were about 20 Glitches in total. Garcia found two support groups, both in New York City, but dozens of online forums. Together you came to the conclusion that the unsub may be a Glitch as well, possibly murdering these people because he was jealous that they were happy even without a soulmate.

“We should have two of us go undercover and go to the meetings.” Morgan suggested.

“I agree,” Rossi said next.

“I can go,” Prentiss volunteered with a shrug.

“Your script isn’t very believable as a Glitch though, Prentiss, like you said before, it is a pretty common sentence.” Morgan said with a sign, “Maybe JJ or Y/L/N could go, her is more ambiguous.”

“I can go.” Reid said suddenly, catching everyone’s attention.

“I could do it as well.” JJ gave Spencer a quick glance.

Luckily the team didn’t have to wait long because the first support group met that night at a local community center. JJ and Spencer were fit with wires, and instructed to go in with a story already set to explain how they were Glitches and that they made a pact to go to the support group together. Hotch, Prentiss, Rossi, Morgan, and you all waited outside in two surveillance vans, listening in on the wire. You watch as your teammates walk into the building, hoping that they would be able to find something out about the unsub.

“Hi, welcome to GA, Glitches anonymous, you two are new, what are your names and script so we can get you a name tag?” You heard someone greet. You stopped your jaw from dropping as your heart beat quickened, did they mean what you thought they did? Reaching up to tuck hair behind your ear you notice your hands are shaking. Glancing to your other teammates you make eye contact with Rossi for a second before you tear your eyes away.

“Excuse me?” JJ asked, Reid staying silent.

“Your script, what’s on your wrist, in order to build trust, we all write down what’s the first things we heard our soulmate say to show that we are willing to be vulnerable.” The person obviously running the support group explains.

“What if you’re a Blank?” JJ asks, obviously trying to give Spencer and out so that he doesn’t have to say what his is over the wire.

“Blanks are so rare, we’ve only had two in the 20 years we’ve been around. A lot of people like to claim their Blanks so they don’t have to write it down but we also always roll our sleeves up to keep everything out in the open. So, what are your names and script?”

“Im JJ, mine says ‘you must be’” JJ conceded, holding her wrist out.

“and you, sir?” You subly tried to take deep breaths to calm your heart. They were all in the room when you told Garcia that you love coffee, they would all know immediately.

“Uh, Im Spencer and uh,” He pauses and coughs uncomfortably, you glance to your teammates, who all look like they pity him as they listen. He had been working there for about a decade now and he never revealed what the words on his wrist said. “My script says ‘I love coffee.’”

You and the team were all huddled up in the victim’s house in Texas for a recent case. A whole family was missing.

Everything was going by plan until the sheriff of the police department walked down the steps that led into the living room, a young petite woman following behind him. She stood behind him quietly, she didn’t look a day older than nineteen. Her dark brown hair framed over her wide doe eyes. In between her arms, she held an aged book of “Huckleberry Finn” that looks like it’s been read a thousand times.

“Sorry to bother, but I just found this young lady hiding in the bedroom closet upstairs,” The Sheriff says. By the look in Hotch’s eyes, I knew exactly who he was gonna make talk to her.

“Reid, you think you can talk to her?” Hotch questions and Spencer nods.

“Mark Twain, good choice,” Spencer comments as he leaves the living room with her.

“He’s one of my favorites,” I hear her say, a giggle following in the distance.

“He’s one of my favorites,” I whisper to myself in annoyance, using an exaggerated high pitch tone to copy her voice. I tried redirecting my mind back to the box in front of me, sorting through all the objects inside. Seems like they were moving stuff out of a boy’s room.

“You good, Y/N?” Morgan asks teasingly, a brow raised.

“I’m great,” I force a smile. You knew Spencer was a sucker for girls who were inclined to literature. You could back that claim up with his past with Maeve and you.

“Relax, green-eyed monster,” Derek laughs. “Boy Wonder over there is head over heels in love with you, he’s not leaving you anytime soon.”

“Touché to that,” JJ comments.

You huffed and left the room, files in hand to go ask the sheriff for more information about the family. And also to peak in on the conversation between Spencer and Mrs. Twain.

As you hopped up the steps, you spotted Spencer and the girl in what looks to be her bedroom. She was crying and he held her in between his arms as she did so.

“What the-” you began to stomp your way over there but someone stepped in front of you.

“Y/N, I’m stopping you from doing something you’ll regret,” Rossi scolds. “We need that girl to talk. Apparently, she’s one of the unsubs victims who managed to escape recently.”

In your opinion, this was incredibly unprofessional. But Rossi was right, the team needs a lead and if this girl is the answer to that, Spencer has to do what he has to do.

About an hour later, you and the rest of the team were back in the conference room of the police department. The second Spencer walked into the room, he found newfound perspective on the case.

“I think I figured it out,” he says quickly, rushing over to the work board. “Thanks to Leah.”

You could feel Derek’s teasing gaze on you and you turn to give him a death stare.

Spencer quickly drew up all his ideas on the board and connected all the dots within five minutes. He called up Garcia to give the team a quick biography on the life of the suspected unsub and finally, everything seemed to piece together.

***

When you and the team arrived at the unsub’s secondary location, everyone piled out of their cars, guns ready and pointed.

Spencer suggested bringing Leah after all the unsub ended up being her older brother. He was the cause of death of a previous family in the area, same exact M.O. You discovered that family was a surrogate for his actual one. This time he finally had the confidence and he kidnapped the parents and spared Leah. The boy was an outcast in his family, the only person who really appreciated him was Leah which is why she was left alone.

“Leah, you’re coming in with me, okay?” Spencer tells her as he places his hands on her biceps. “Be careful, don’t trigger him in any way. You’re the only one who can get through to him.”

“Okay,” she whimpers.

“Y/N, lead in Leah and me,” Spencer orders quickly before rushing towards the abandoned cabin.

You ignored the annoyance clawing at the back of your mind. You expected Spencer to at least tell you to be careful or that he loves you, but his usual comments of security were nowhere to be heard. And that just irked you.

You were supposed to protect everyone, yet here you were wanting to blitz attack the girl from behind. Luckily, you didn’t have to stare at the back of her head for much longer since you were supposed to lead them in.

You kicked the door down and rushed inside, gun pointed.

You made your way into the house just as soon as the unsub, Jackson, was about to kill his father.

“FBI!” You shouted. “Jackson, put the gun down, now!”

Jackson quickly whipped his father around, using him as a shield and pressing the gun against his head. The mother sat in the corner of the room, tied up, mouth taped and tears falling down her face.

“No!” Jackson shakes his head vigorously.

“Jackson, I know you don’t want to do this,” Spencer says, walking in with the gun pointed at the raging murderer.

“You don’t know what I want and don’t want,” Jackson spats.

“I know that you don’t want your sister to see you get killed,” Spencer says. “I know you don’t want her to suffer from the sight of seeing her parents being slaughtered right in front of her.”

“What do you mean?” Jackson says angrily.

“Leah!” Spencer calls and in walks Leah. You could feel the nerves radiating off of her from behind you.

“Leah,” Jackson breathes out. “What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be at home, safe.”

“J, I was safe at home with mom and dad,” she chokes out.

“No, no mom and dad are horrible, they deserve to die!”

“No, they don’t, J,” Leah cries.

“Yes, they do!” Jackson fires a shot causing everyone to duck and cover. Another shot goes off, but it’s not coming from Jackson. You turn around to see Spencer pointing his gun at Jackson, and two bodies hit the ground.

The father scrambled off his back and crawled over to his wife, trying to rip off the ties that had her bounded. Jackson’s lifeless body lied in a growing pool of blood from the gunshot wound given to him by Spencer.

“Are you okay?” Spencer asks in worry. You turn around, thinking he was speaking to you - but he wasn’t. He was helping Leah off her feet who seemed to be in complete shock. Then finally it hit her.

“Jackson!” She screams out. Spencer holds her back from running to her brother. He holds her tight in his arms and you could see how she’s struggling to stand so Spencer falls to the ground with her.

“Y/N! Are you okay?” Emily asks you, offering you a hand to help you off the floor.

“I’m fine,” you mumble, taking her hand. You storm out of the stuffy house, ripping off your bulletproof vest and throwing it to the ground.

You went over to Hotch who was speaking to the EMT’s and waited until he was done speaking.

“May I go back to the hotel?” You ask impatiently.

“Everything is in check so yes, you may leave,” Hotch nods. “Jet won’t be ready until 6 am, you know the drill.”

“Yup,” you say curtly and turn on your heels towards one of the SUV’s.

“Y/N!” Hotch calls out. You turn around and give him a questioning look. “I don’t think Spencer realizes what he’s doing. I’ll give him until tonight before he realizes what’s wrong.”

“I don’t think he realizes either,” you agree. You hop into the SUV and quickly pull out of the police car filled lot.

You wanted nothing more than to take a hot shower, change into your pajamas and rest in bed. You were irritated and exhausted, plus Spencer being oblivious to your jealousy was a pain.

***

When you stepped out of the steamy bathroom in your oversized T-shirt and fuzzy socks, you didn’t expect to see Spencer sitting on the bed, fiddling with his thumbs.

“Why are you back so early?” You question. “I thought you still had some stuff to take care of.”

Spencer immediately caught the change in your tone of voice. He felt something was wrong earlier, but he brushed it off as you being annoyed with the case.

He felt his mood drop even more as you walked past him without a hug or a kiss, not even a smile. You just went to the other side of the bed and crawled in without acknowledging him again.

“Y/N,” he trails off, scared to ask you. “What’s wrong?”

“You don’t even know, huh?” You chuckle in disbelief. “Good night, Spencer.”

You reached over and turned off the light on the bedside table, your side of the room was now in shadows and only the light from the bathroom illuminated the dark room.

Spencer wracked his brain with different problems he might have caused between the two of you - but he kept coming up blank. He didn’t know what he did to tick you off.

Then he remembered a comment Morgan made before Spencer took off.

“Tell the green-eyed monster I say hello,” he joked.

It clicked. Spencer remembered the saying for jealousy was “green-eyed monster”. He just didn’t know why Morgan would bring it up.

Spencer looked over at you and he frowned. The green-eyed monster was you.

“I know what I messed up,” Spencer breaks the silence. “I ignored you the whole day. I put all my attention on Leah.”

You throw the covers off of you and sit up in annoyance.

“That’s not all, Spencer,” you frown. “I was annoyed yeah, but what really hurt me is what happened when we were in the unsub’s house.”

“What happened in the-” Spencer stopped mid-sentence. He remembered when the first bullet went off towards the middle of the room, instead of asking if you were okay, he went straight to Leah.

“Yeah, you know where I’m coming from now?” You say. Spencer rushed over to your side of the bed and turned on your bedside lamp. He kneeled down on the floor beside you and took your hands.

“Y/N, I’m in love with you, okay?” He begins. “I don’t know why you were jealous of Leah in the first place, I was just trying to solve the case and she was the key to it. Y/N, you’re a professionally trained law enforcement officer, I know I don’t need to worry about you.”

“But Leah, she’s perfect for you!” You exclaim quietly. “She reads the classics, she’s easygoing, she’s beautiful.”

“I think you just described yourself,” Spencer chuckles. “You’re perfect for me, Y/N. You’re more than just beautiful and intelligent, you’re the love of my life. You feel like home to me. No one is ever going to change that.”

“Do you really believe that?” You ask softly.

“I do,” he responds. “I love you, Y/N.”

You give him a small smile before leaning down and kissing his forehead and then his lips. You could hear him kicking off his shoes before he crawls into the bed with you and envelops you in his arms, never breaking the kiss.

“Maybe I should shower,” he breathes out as he breaks the kiss. “Do you know how many pathogens I could be passing onto you-”

“Shh,” you press a finger to his lips, “just enjoy the moment.”

Spencer lets out a small laugh before returning his lips to yours in a sweet and loving kiss.

Imagine: going to see the fireworks with the team and undergoing an anxiety attack, Spencer calming you down.

Pairing: Platonic!Spencer x reader p(romantic I guess if you squint)

Warnings: Anxiety attack on your fictional part, fluff.

((Happy 4th of July to all my friends, American or not. I wrote this because tonight was a shit-show. I went to go see fireworks on the beach and some idiots didn’t light it properly and it went sideways and hit a bunch of people. Everyone was alright but it was traumatizing. People screamed, kids were crying and most people ran in my direction. There were also fireworks heading into the sea and firework wrapping everywhere. I know there is going to be so much trash on the beach. A beach where sea turtles come to lay their eggs. I hated it. Anyways, here you go!))

-

The sand felt warm and delightful between your toes as you ran across the beach to meet up with your friends. The sun was leaving orange, pink, purple and yellow hues as it set, sky slowly darkening.

The team was currently sitting on a few large beach blankets and towels, chatting and laughing. Henry, Kai, and Jack were all playing with some sparklers under the supervision of Joy, JJ, William and Hotch, Rossi and Hayden walking down by the waves, feet getting wet.

“Hey guys!” The rest of the team cheered your name in a friendly manner, Tara and Garcia shuffling over to give you room. “I brought refreshments!” You shrugged your cooler off of your shoulder, beers clinking as it hit the ground.

“I was waiting for this!’ Morgan grabbed one, taking a bottle opener and popping off the cap. "Alright Y/n, that’s all we needed you for, you can go now.” He teased, eyes widening when you lunged for him playfully.

“Happy Independence Day!” Penelope cheered, giving you a hug. “What’s in the other bag?” She gasped, pulling out pinwheels, headbands with red, white, and blue stars, and fake temporary tattoos.

“I brought plenty for the kids but for us too!” You cheered triumphantly. “How else should we celebrate America by getting drunk and crazy. Not that it’s different from any other day for me, am I right?” You winked.

You turned to look at Spencer, teasingly rolling your eyes at his usual attire. “I brought something for you too Spence. I think you are really gonna love it.” He looked a little shocked and you had to suppress a giggle. “Ta-da!” You pulled out a pair of shorts with the American flag on it. Morgan broke out in a chuckle, taking the shorts and inspecting them.

“It’s perfect, right? Do you want to try it on?” You gestured to the bathhouses on the beach a little ways away.

“No thank you, I’m fine. I uh…appreciate it though.” He smiled weakly. You relented, running your hands through his hair and ruffling it up. “Your loss.” You warned, opening up your own beer.

“So, we’re heading to Aaron’s house afterwards for some late night grilling and s'mores. I would offer my place but I’m sure the landlady would complain….. again. Anyways, are you in?” Penelope asked, already getting dolled up with the headbands and using a peice of ice from your cooler to cover her arms in tattoos.

You nodded and easily fell into conversation with everyone, Sky soon becoming dark. Soon everyone regrouped to sit together anxious for the fireworks to start.

*Pop*

“There we go!” JJ squealed to her son, moving him in her lap. Your heart immediately started pounding, and you told yourself it was just the initial shock, but as the fireworks kept going you felt like you were frozen to the ground.

Each pop made you think of a gunshot and you felt like you couldn’t breathe. Each firework sounded like a gunshot and you couldn’t help but think of all the people who had died this previous year, people who died because you shot, never mind the fact that they were murdererous, kidnappers, rapists, you still took their lives.

You were shaking, sweat palpitating on your forehead. You felt like someone was choking you. Each cheer of excitement sounded like a shrieking scream. The screams kept getting louder and louder and you didn’t know what to do.

“Y/n!” Spencer came over to you, whispering. “Y/n it’s okay. Breathe deeply.” Spencer recognized that you were having a panic attack, eyes laced with concern. “In and out like this, see?” He demonstrated and you tried your best to follow his example. “Do you want to move? We don’t have to stay here.” He reminded you.

With wide eyes you nodded as best as you could, and he helped you off the ground, holding you bridal style and leading you out into the parking lot the beach where the noises where a bit muffled.

“There’s nothing to be afraid of Y/n. This feeling is only temporary alright? Just breathe….breathe please…” He stayed with you the entirety of your panic attack until you calmed down enough, leading you to your car. “Do you want me to tell the team you’re not up for the barbeque?”

“Well, I don’t want to spend the holiday alone. All my stuff is back there anyway.” You sighed, running your hand through your hair. Spencer held his hand up, a weak smile on his face.

“I’ll spend the holiday with you. And, don’t-don’t worry, I’ll grab your stuff. Are you absolutely, positively sure that you’re alright if I leave? Just for a moment?” You paused, nodding, a smile slowly forming on your face, Spencer was so sweet.

You heard a few more pops, softer now that you were in the car. You hoped the kids were all safe and no one knew that you had freaked out. You were sure that they had most likely gone through something like this before but you didn’t want to make it a big deal.

You made out Spencer’s frame as he approached your car, and when he stepped in front of the headlights you couldn’t help but laugh. He had thrown the shorts you had gotten for him on over his pants, wearing one of your headbands. He plopped into the passenger seat, jumping back when he caught your stare.

“I didn’t have time to put on the tattoos.” He simply explained, his eyes grinning for him as he tried to keep a straight face. You started pulling out of the parking lot, cheeks burning from smirking so much.

It was so great to have a friend like him.

Secrets And Lies - Two

Reid x Reader

Another three months had gone by since that night in the hotel room. It hadn’t gone down as Y/N had envisioned it, Spencer hadn’t broken it off with her and broken her heart.

Instead he’d gently coaxed out of her the words she’d been so scared of speaking, replying with his own declaration of love and adoration for her.

“So what happens now?” she’d asked.

“I’ll leave Georgia so we can be together, if that’s what you want.”

“Spencer, this isn’t just about what I want. This won’t work if it’s just about me. You have to want this to. Because it’s a big ask for you to hurt the person you’ve been with for so long.”

“But if I don’t hurt her, I’m hurting you. And myself. I want this, I want you. It’s wrong how this has happened, but it has. We have to accept that. We did something wrong and we have to make it right.”

So when he’d crept out of Y/N’s room that morning, it was with a promise that once Georgia arrived home that evening, he’d end things. And that he’d let Y/N know as soon as it was done.

So she waited, all night. For a phone call, a text message, a knock at her door that never came. And by the early hours of the morning she’d convinced herself that their conversation earlier had been a lie, and that Spencer just hadn’t been able to handle letting her down to her face. She berated herself for being so dumb, so stupid. For believing the words of a man that would cheat on his girlfriend. Y/N worked herself into a state and when it was time for work the next morning, she had one hell of a job trying to cover her puffy eyes and dry lips from all of the crying.

She was sure she’d managed it though until a moment on the teams jet. Y/N had gone to the bathroom and when she opened the door to leave, JJ was standing there waiting for her.

“Everything okay?” she asked, her concerned blue eyes searching Y/N’s face.

“Erm yeah. Everything’s fine.”

“Are you sure? You’ve been very quiet this morning and….. Well, you don’t seem yourself right now. If there’s anything you want to talk about, we can you know.”

She very nearly tugged Jennifer into the bathroom with her then, ready to break down and spill all of the details of hers and Spencer’s sordid affair. But she glanced down the aisle and saw Spencer look up from his book, catching her eye.

“Everything’s fine JJ. I just didn’t sleep well last night that’s all.”

The blonde profiler chose to let it go as Y/N moved passed her and back to her seat, avoiding Spencer’s gaze.

Later that night when the team were at their motel, Y/N heard a knock on her door as she was getting ready for bed. Thinking it was JJ coming to pry again, she opened the door to see it was Spencer and immediately tried to close it on him. She wasn’t in the mood for this. Not here, not now. He blocked her move and pushed into the room, closing the door behind him.

“I need to explain,” he said quietly as she looked every where in the room but at him.

“No you don’t, it’s fine. I get it.”

“Y/N……Look at me, please.”

When she didn’t, Spencer crossed the room to her and gently cupped her chin with his hand, turning her face to his.

“I couldn’t do it yesterday. I will do it, I swear it. But I can’t do it right now,” his hazel eyes were full of conflict and emotion and Y/N wanted to pull away from him but found that she wasn’t able to make herself.

“When Georgia came home yesterday, she was a mess. Her Dad called her whilst she was driving home, her Mom died.”

Oh.

“You see, as much I want to end things with her, I can’t hurt her anymore right now. I need to stay with her until the funeral is over at least, possibly a bit longer. I don’t want to stay with her though but I have to right now, please don’t think that this is an excuse. I can show you the messages from her that she’s sent me today if you don’t believe me.”

Did Y/N really want to be the person who asked for proof of something like that? No. Even though a tiny part inside her head was saying that it wasan excuse, she didn’t think it was. And as much as she wanted to be truly selfish here, she understood Spencer’s reasoning. Georgia was going to need him.

But for how long? Because she needed him too.

“You’re still…. You’re still going to end it. You still want us?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

Spencer nodded and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, embracing her and she buried her head into his shirt.

“I still want us. More than you’ll ever know. I just…. I can’t give you a time frame here. I want to say a few weeks, but it could be a month or so. I know it’s a lot to ask but… can you give me that time? Will you wait? I’ll understand if you can’t, it’ll kill me inside but I understand.”

“Spencer, I’ll wait for you. I love you.”

“I love you too. So very much.”

So time passed by, Spencer and Y/N continued their affair behind Georgia’s back, leaving both of them feeling terrible after each brief encounter.

Because Georgia had taken some time off from her job to deal with her grief, that meant that Spencer and Y/N didn’t get much time with each other. A few snatched moments when they were in a motel when out on a case was really all they had, something neither of them liked doing because they were in such close proximity to the team. A phone call here and there at the weekend, text messages which Y/N knew Spencer would delete straight away.

She hated this but she didn’t realise that he hated it even more. She didn’t know the pain he was going through trying to be there for someone he no longer loved, trying to soothe them and to assure them that everything would be okay when he knew that he was going to make everything not okay as soon as he felt able to do it.

Which was another sore point between the two lovers.

Y/N wanted a date, a time limit on how long she’d have to wait. When the first month turn into two months and then stretched to the third, she because increasingly frustrated with Spencer and it showed when they were together. She didn’t know how much longer she could keep this a secret.

Every time her phone sang out Spencer’s ring tone, she answered eagerly, wanting it to be him telling her he’d done it. But it never was.

And whenever she pressed the subject, he’d tell that he loved her but that the time wasn’t right yet; that Georgia was still a mess.

And so she continued to wait, hating herself, hating him, and hating Georgia because she had the one thing that she wanted. Spencer.

Y/N knew the woman wasn’t having an easy time with life currently. She constantly stalked her Facebook and Twitter, and Georgia was regularly leaving messages on her Mom’s Facebook wall telling her how much she missed her.

Still, every time she saw her update it to an activity that included Spencer, she seethed onside.

“Watching the new Dr Who and eating a home cooked steak with the boy. Can always count on him to cheer me up.”

Nope. Nope nope NOPE.

Status’s like that made Y/N want to drive around to Spencer’s apartment to show Georgia just exactly what her boy had been up to. But she didn’t. Because she didn’t want to end this for Spencer. He had to do it.

Later on in the evening when Y/N would be lying in bed, Reid would normally text her. She knew that meant Georgia was asleep. He’d apologise, he knew she checked up on them. And then he’d assure that he loved HER, and that they’d be together soon.

Y/N just felt lost now. She was stuck in limbo. She’d told Spencer that she’d wait, but so far she couldn’t see that he was making any movement towards leaving his partner.
She understood his predicament, but it didn’t make it any easier on her. The last two times they’d managed to spend time with each other she’d ended up sobbing uncontrollably after he’d left.

He shouldn’t be leaving her, he should be staying the night, holding her tight. They should be waking up with each other, spending everyday together.

But they weren’t.

And he just kept asking her to wait.

She couldn’t confide in anyone about this or ask for their advice. Even JJ had stopped asking her if anything was wrong whenever she saw her puffy eyes. Y/N wondered if the team actually suspected anything. No one said anything to them and Y/N thought they did a pretty good job of hiding things when they were at work, but they did work with profilers after all.

They also had to have picked up the fact the Reid hardly mentioned Georgia now unless he was directly asked about her. And whenever he did, Y/N would bury her head in whatever paperwork she had in front of her, trying desperately not to listen.

When the three months stretched into another, Y/N came to a decision. She called him up and made him meet her at a small café they’d discovered together.

“You have three weeks Spencer. Til the end of this month. I can’t wait any longer than that. If you don’t tell her then…. ”

“What, you’ll tell her?” was secretly what Spencer was hoping she’d say. He was too much of a coward to do it himself really. He knew he was dragging this out for far longer than he should. He knew he was hurting Y/N terribly but he just…. Couldn’t. Every time he thought that he was ready to tell Georgia, something would happen. She’d find an old picture of her and her Mom or she’d be reminded of an old memory and she’d start to cry again. And Spencer couldn’t bring himself to add to those tears.

“No. I’m not telling her for you. You have to do that yourself. But if you don’t tell her, I’m gone. I’ve been speaking with Hotch, letting him know that I’m looking into transferring out. He’ll support my application to move. At the end of this month, we all have our two weeks mandatory leave. I’ve rented a cabin by a lake to spend some time either by myself to get over you, or to spend it with you. I’ll be leaving at nine am on the Friday morning. If you’re not waiting at my apartment by nine am, we’re done. And when I return, I’m handing in my transfer papers.”

With that, Y/N stood up and walked away, leaving Spencer sitting shell shocked at the table.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 4

Sirens blazing, the team drove like bats out hell toward the two locations. Hotch was practically white-knuckling the steering wheel as he drove much faster than the posted speed limit.

“Hotch, are we doing a quiet entry or guns blazing?” Prentis asked.

“Soft entry,” he replied. “If we come in too strong, we don’t know what he’s gonna do. He could kill her off and run.” Coming up to the property, the three agents dove out of the car, SWAT team following close behind, and ran toward the entry. “His car is here. Prentis, get Rossi on the phone and turn them around,” Aaron muttered, as SWAT opened the door with a crowbar. Hotch and Morgan were the first inside, moving as quietly as they could through the house to clear it. “Morgan. Basement door,” Aaron whispered, nodding his head toward the door behind him. A muffled scream rang through the house, as Morgan tried to open the door only to discover it was locked. “We don’t have time for this,” Hotch grumbled and kicked the door in. They both rushed down the stairs, Prentis following close behind.

****************

You heard something smash upstairs. You cried, silently praying for a miracle, and bit down on the rag in your mouth as he dug the scalpel into your skin, running it down your back for the seventh time. You were in so much pain, you were almost ready to give up. You felt so weak and tired. “Daniel Owens, FBI drop the knife,” Hotch growled. Owens seemed to pay absolutely no attention, as Hotch, Morgan, and Prentis came into the room.

“I don’t know why you’re so upset with me,” he muttered absentmindedly, still holding the scalpel right next to your throat. “I was just teaching your lovely agent here some manners and breaking her in.”

“You need to drop that weapon now, or you’re not walking out of here alive,” Prentis snarled.

“Is that a fact?”

“Look man, we do not want to shoot you,” Derek snapped.

“Now see, I don’t really think that’s true,” he sneered, moving the scalpel downward and thrust it forward. Aaron fired off two rounds, both striking Owens in the chest, but not before he’d managed to bury the scalpel in your side. You cried out in pain and Owens crumpled down on top of you. Hotch quickly holstered his weapon and immediately started undoing your restraints, starting with the gag.

“Get him off me,” you sobbed as Morgan hauled the dead man off of you and onto the cold ground.

“I need a medic down her now,” Prentis said as she knelt down to inspect the wound. “I need something to put pressure on this with,” she muttered fanatically looking around for a clean rag or towel.

“Here,” Morgan grunted, tearing off his bullet proof vest, yanking his t-shirt, and handing it to her. “Use that,” he told her and quickly went to work on freeing your feet. As soon as Hotch had managed to free your wrists, you threw your arms around Aaron and sobbed into his stomach.

“Sh, sh, (Y/N), it’s alright,” he said trying to comfort you and smoothed a hand over your hair. You shifted around and started trying to dislodge Prentis’ hands to pull the scalpel out of your side.

“No, no, mama, you gotta sit still and leave it there,” Derek told you as he finally freed your legs. Two paramedics rushed in and started checking you over. You squeezed Hotch tighter as the started touching your back and side.

“It’s ok, I’ve got you,” he whispered. One of the paramedics had Prentis move her hands so he could look at the stab wound.

“She’s bleeding out. C’mon we’ve got to get her to the hospital and into surgery ASAP,” he muttered as they set up the stretcher. “Ma’am I need you to keep pressure on that,” he told Prentis who immediately put her hands back on your side.

“What’s wrong?” Hotch demanded, facing paling slightly.

“The tip of the scalpel has nicked an internal organ which is causing her to bleed out and most likely there is some internal bleeding as well. I need you to help us get her on the stretcher and then keep her awake,” the paramedic explained. Hotch unwound your arms from his middle despite your cries of protest and gripped your shoulders. Morgan grabbed your legs and the paramedics slid under your stomach. The four of them lifted you swiftly onto the stretcher. You immediately grabbed onto Hotch’s hand again, still quietly sobbing. Morgan grabbed one end with the paramedic, and the other paramedic took over keeping the pressure on the wound from Emily. Hotch jogged beside the stretcher was they quickly made their way up the stairs.

“Hey, hey, (Y/N), look at me. C’mon keep your eyes open,” Aaron pleaded with you as your eyes started fluttering shut.

“I’m trying, but I’m so tired,” you cried quietly. The rest of the team was standing outside as they carried you out to the ambulance. You felt the world spinning around you as you faded in and out. They loaded you into the ambulance and you pried your eyes back open. “Please don’t leave me,” you pleaded with Hotch, through teary eyes. Aaron looked at the paramedics who nodded in approval.

“I won’t leave you if you won’t leave me,” he promised and climbed in the ambulance beside you, re-clasping your hand in his.

“We’ll meet you at the hospital,” Rossi shouted as they closed the doors and sped off toward the hospital. The paramedics worked quickly, disinfecting the wounds on your back and trying to slow the bleeding from your side. The stinging of the alcohol against your open wounds was actually helping keep you awake, and you squeezed Hotch’s hand tighter.

“Aaron,” you muttered.

“What do you need?” he asked automatically.

“Talk to me.”

“About what?”

“Anything,” you pleaded, squeezing his hand again as a large burst of pain rushed through you.

“Uh, well,” he mumbled, “Remember when the whole team had a picnic out in the park during one of the mandatory team building exercises that the Bureau makes us participate in? even though if we’re being honest there is no team more in tune to each others’ needs than ours.”

“Yeah, and you brought Jack,” you said, trying to smile despite the pain.

“Yup, and we all had sandwiches and cookies. Then we decided to play soccer. It was you, Morgan, Reid, and Penelope versus Rossi, Jack, Prentis, JJ, and me. Which was hardly fair because you had two of the least athletic member of the team.”

“But we also had Derek, which made up for it,” you replied, starting to feel drowsy again.

“True, and we were playing with a five-year-old.”

“A very talented five-year-old,” you mumbled eyes falling shut.

“Hey, eyes open c’mon visualize with me,” Hotch begged, “Remember, you and Morgan were pretty much carrying your whole team, but the two of you let Jack score a few times anyways? He had so much fun that day.”

“You looked like you were having fun too. It’s nice to see you smile. We all should do that again sometime,” you muttered before your head fell down against the pillow.

“No, no, no, c’mon wake back up,” Hotch pleaded, shaking your shoulder slightly as you pulled up to the ambulance dock. A team of medics rushed out and took you away behind the doors that said: “Medical Personnel Only” leaving Aaron standing in front of the doors face almost sheet white. The team arrived a few minutes later and found Hotch in the surgery waiting area.

“What’s going on?” Rossi asked, sitting down beside him.

“I don’t know. They said that the scalpel had nicked some internal organ and that there might be internal bleeding. She passed out in the ambulance and they took her back about seven minutes ago,” he muttered in reply and put his face back in his hands.

“I’m going to go see if I can find one of the nurses and get some information,” JJ said, wandering off because she couldn’t just sit there. Reid and Prentis wandered off in search of a vending machine knowing that it was going to be a long couple of hours. And indeed they were. Hotch alternated between pacing and sitting in the chair moping, while Morgan leaned against the wall and talked to Garcia, who wanted updates practically every second. Emily and JJ gave some half-hearted attempts at girl talk, but it felt so wrong without you being there to join in they ultimately fell into a tense silence holding hands. Reid and Rossi played chess, though neither seemed to have their hearts in it as they periodically looked over their shoulders to see if any doctors had come through the doors since the last time they had looked. About five hours later, a physician finally came through the doors into the waiting area.

“For, (Y/N) (Y/L/N)?” he asked. The whole team stood up and gathered round. “My name is Doctor David Smith, I’ll be monitoring and looking after her for the rest of (Y/N)’s stay here.”

“How is she?” Hotch inquired.

“Very lucky to be alive,” the doctor replied. “She had three fractured ribs, a dislocated shoulder, a series of burns varying in type, seven long slashed down her back, and of course the stab wound to the left side of her abdomen. The scalpel punctured her kidney which is what caused the internal bleeding that we thought was there but that turned out to be very minor. She’s banged up and lost a lot of blood, but she’s going to be alright.”

“Can we see her?” Reid asked.

“(Y/N)’s just been moved to a regular room from recovery. She should wake up soon. I’ll have one of the nurses show you the way to her room,” he said and walked over to the nurse’s station to pick up more charts. The team sighed in relief once it was confided you would physically recover. Hotch walked over to the doctor.

“One final question,” he muttered, trying to keep his voice low so the team wouldn’t hear. “The man who did this to her was known to sexually assault his victims as well and-”

“And you want to know if I found evidence of that,” the doctor finished for him. Aaron nodded. The doctor glanced over Hotch’s shoulder at the team who were staring at them intently, before nodding. Aaron grimaced and thanked the doctor for taking care of you before walking back over to the team.

“What was that about?” Emily asked hesitantly.

“Just asked whether or not she was going to need to be released to someone’s care when she gets out of here,” Aaron replied trying to keep his face stoic and not give anything away.

“Miss (Y/L/N)’s room is down this way if you’ll follow me,” one of the nurses said and the team proceeded to follow her down the long hallway. Rossi hung back slightly to talk to Hotch who was lagging behind the group.

“So what did you actually ask?” he inquired quietly. Aaron pressed his lips together and flicked his eyes over to the team. “Aaron, they already know you weren’t telling them the truth. They just don’t know why.”

“When the doctor listed off the injuries (Y/N) sustained, you should’ve noticed that there was something from Owen’s ritual that was missing. I just confirmed its presence because the doctor neglected to include it,” Hotch muttered in reply. Rossi sighed and shook his head sadly.

“She’s been through a lot and needs her rest, so don’t rile her up too much. She should be waking up any minute,” the nurse explained showing them to your room. The team filed into the room quietly and took in your sleeping form. The bandages wrapped around your torso and chest were peaking out from under your hospital gown, a variety of different sized bandages covered the cuts and scrapes on your arms, and you had a nasty cut on your cheek. Aaron sat down in the chair beside your bed and took your hand in is, smoothing his thumb over the back. The team watched him closely but chose not to say anything, just wordlessly took their spots around the room. You started to open your eyes about five minutes later. You cracked your eyes open slightly and immediately shut them again. All you saw was bright white light and you were so sore. You cautiously opened your eyes and looked around. Relief rushed through you when you saw the team and realized you were in a hospital.

“Well, well, well sleeping beauty welcome back to the land of the awake,” Derek chuckled placing a hand on your shin. You rolled your eyes at him.

“How are you feeling? Do you need something?” Aaron asked leaning toward you slightly. You raise your hand to your throat and mouthed “water”. JJ quickly grabbed your glass off of of your table and placed the straw at your lips. You sucked down have of the glass before you took the glass from her and set it back down.

“Thank you,” you mumbled graciously.

“Glad to have you back (Y/N),” Emily said sitting on the edge of your hospital bed by your legs.

“Glad to be back,” you replied, smiling at her. “What happened?”

“How much do you remember?” Hotch asked.

“Um, I remember the three of you coming in and someone shooting him after he stabbed me in the side, but the rest is kinda hazy. I know that I ended up in an ambulance and you were there but that’s it” you said, looking over at him. “Oh, I also remember that Morgan whipped off his shirt so Prentis would have something to hold against my bloody side and then walked around the rest of the time half naked, so sorry for ruining your shirt,” you giggled.

“It’s ok mama, they have those in stores and they are easily replaced. Plus you know I look good so all the ladies got a treat,” he joked, waggling his eyebrows at you.

“Well, I’ll buy you a new shirt when we get home,” you laughed, wincing slightly as your laughing aggravated your side. “So, what did they have to do to fix me up?”

“You lost a lot of blood. The scalpel punctured you kidney so you had to have emergency surgery,” Reid told you.

“Well, that makes sense,” you said and swatted Morgan and Reid’s hands away from your Jello. “Did they say when I could fly so we could go home?”

“The doctor didn’t-”

“Knock knock,” Dr. Smith said as he walked into the room. “Well, Miss (Y/L/N) it’s nice to meet you and good that you’re awake.”

“Nice to meet you too, and it’s good to be conscious again. I find that’s when I do most of my best work,” you chirped. Everyone chuckled at your comment, grateful that your sense of humor hadn’t been affected. Hotch rolled his eyes at you, squeezed your hand.

“Well, I’m sure that’s true. You’re very lucky to be alive, (Y/N) I’m sure you know that.”

“Yeah. When can I go home? I just really want to get back to Quantico and forget this ever happened,” you sighed leaning back to rest your head against your pillow.

“Well, considering you did just have emergency surgery I’m going to have to keep you at least overnight. If you’re doing well enough in the morning, we can maybe talk about letting you go; however, due to the nature of your injuries, I’m going to have to release you into someone’s care for the next two and a half weeks until your stitches dissolve and wounds close up,” he explained.

“Great,” you muttered closing your eyes. You had absolutely no one to take care of you once you got home. You parents lived in Maine, and both of your siblings lived out of state one in Louisiana and the other in Oklahoma.

“Now, I know you all want to stay but visiting hours are coming to a close and we only allow one overnight visitor that isn’t blood-related, so I’m going to have to ask you all to wrap this up. (Y/N) needs her rest,” Dr. Smith said and walked out.

“Be free my friends,” you giggled, as JJ leaned forward to hug you.

“So glad you’re ok,” she whispered.

“Me too,” you replied smiling.

“Call if you need anything, Mia Bella. The hotel is only five minutes away and we’d drop anything for you,” Rossi told you and kissed your forehead. You laughed at his silly nickname for you, especially since it meant “my beautiful” and you felt everything but beautiful at this point in time. The rest of the team said their goodbyes and walked outside. Morgan made you promise to call Penelope in the morning. You pressed your head against your pillow and closed your eyes, but the door opening again drew your attention.

“Aaron? What are you doing? I thought the team left,” you said, slowly sitting up.

“I sent Rossi to go get my go bag, I was planning on staying the night here if you don’t mind,” he explained dropping down in the chair beside you again.

“You don’t have to do that.”

“And if I want to?”

“If you’re sure, then that’s fine with me. Not sure how much company I’ll be since I’m already feeling pretty drowsy,” you said, smiling shyly at him.

“That’s fine. You need your rest,” he replied, closing his hand around yours again. You glanced down at your hands and blushed slightly. “(Y/N), I want to apologize for what happened earlier.”

“Aaron, there’s no need for that. You were just doing your job and trying to keep me safe. Clearly, I should’ve listened to you,” you muttered squeezing his hand.

“No, I should’ve gone about it differently. Sometimes I let my feelings cloud my judgment when I’m making important decisions.”

“Feelings?” you asked, eyes flicking up to his. Hotch went rigid and was trying to figure out how to backtrack, furious with himself for letting that last part slip. You didn’t need to be talking about that right now.

“Nothing, don’t worry about it.”

“No, don’t do that,” you protested. “We get so close to talking about the fact that both of us have been dancing around each other since I joined the team and I need to spill my guts about really being into you or else I’m going to go insane and take the rest of the team with me because they all know, well everyone but you apparently. Now I’m rambling and I can’t stop myself so I’ll-” you were cut off mid rant when Aaron pressed his lips against yours. You practically melted, feeling the warm fuzzy all over, kissed him back. Hotch pulled back slowly, studying your face to gage your reaction. “Wow,” you sighed happily, leaning back against your pillow and closed your eyes. “If this a dream and I’ve fallen asleep on my desk back at Quantico, no one pinch me because I never want to wake up,” you mumbled. Hotch laughed at you and smoothed a hand over your hair.

“It’s not a dream I promise, just a good end to a horrible day,” he replied and kissed your forehead. “Get some sleep. We’ll talk about everything later.”

“Promise?” you asked cracking one eye open.

“Promise,” he chuckled, pressing his lips against the back of your hand as you slowly drifted off to sleep. Hotch smiled and laid his head down on his arms which were resting on the hospital bed still holding your hand.

A/N: Anon request for a Spencer x Reader where the reader is really flirty and hits on him a lot, so Spencer doesn’t really know how to react. One day, they get stuck somewhere, and the reader mentions her interest (the request was for teasing, but I switched it up because I wasn’t sure what to tease him about). He kisses her and some smutty smut ensues. @coveofmemories @sweetg

                                                             —–

“You do realize she likes you, right?” Morgan said, motioning across the bullpen toward Y/N.

Spencer’s face dropped in confusion, the corners of his mouth stretching out into a grimace of sorts. “You think she likes me?”

“No, I don’t think, I know,” Morgan laughed. Y/N was constantly doing all those little things that one associated with flirting. Since she started, she’d taken any opportunity possible to get Reid to notice her advances. Nearly every morning, his coffee would be waiting on his desk, a little heart  adorning the outside in marker. If he was feeling down, she’d put her hand lovingly on his arm; she didn’t do that with everyone. She always laughed at his corny jokes and she seemed genuinely interested in his ramblings, whether they be about work or Star Wars. “She is absolutely into you.”

For weeks Spencer had wondered if she was actually flirting with him or whether he was reading into something that wasn’t there. He wasn’t good with this kind of thing and he didn’t want to assume that she liked him like that - maybe she was just being nice. Just last week, they were out on assignment together and he’d been rambling about the board game Parcheesi; he couldn’t even remember how they’d gotten onto the topic, but as per usual, he’d been rambling.

“You know Parcheesi is actually the Americanized version of the Indian game Parchisi, which is the younger sibling of a game called Chaupar. That was a slightly more intricate version of Parcheesi played by Indian aristocracy, specifically Mogul Emperor Akbar, not the one from Star Wars…” He’d looked over to see her smiling from ear-to-ear, listening intently to his coffee-fueled Star Wars/Parcheesi ramblings. Spencer felt like he should’ve stopped there, but once he got started, he couldn’t stop himself. “In fact, Akbar made a life-size version of the game that he played in his palace gardens, using harem girls as the pawns.”

“Oh my god, what a tool,” she’d laughed, placing her hand on his arm. “Well, maybe you and I can play the American board game one of these days. I haven’t played it since I was a kid. I used to love it.”

A normal guy would’ve made a move at that point, actually, they probably would’ve made a move a million years ago, but Spencer couldn’t actually comprehend her interest, so he said nothing and changed the conversation back to work.

Snapping back to the present moment, Spencer sat down at his desk just as Hotch called for him. “Reid, can you and Y/N take a look down in the file room for the Beyer case file from 20 years ago? It’s one of the few we haven’t put into the digital system yet and I’d like to give it to Garcia.”

Giving him a nod, Spencer called over to Y/N, who was fixing her third cup of coffee for the day. “Hotch needs the file on Beyers. Can you help me?”

“Anything for you, Spencer,” she smiled warmly, placing the coffee on her desk and heading with him toward the elevator. They hit the button for the file room and watched as the doors closed with Y/N playfully punching Spencer’s arm. She liked doing that a lot, and Spencer didn’t want to admit he thought it was cute. Lights flickered as they moved down floor after floor, when all of a sudden the movements ground down to a halt. “What just happened?” she asked.

This had happened to Spencer once before on a case; he was with Morgan at the time, and the elevator had been much more rickety. “I’m gonna say that considering the lights also went out, the building lost power.”

“Damn snow.” It had been slightly snowy and amazingly windy since this morning and apparently the power lines couldn’t take it anymore, so they were stuck.

In reality only five minutes had passed since the power went out, but the silence that hung between, as well as something else Spencer didn’t know how to describe, made it feel so much longer. More than once, he’d heard a sharp intake of breath come from her. She seemed like she wanted to say something. “Spencer?” she asked. “Do you like me? Like, romantically? Because I like you and I’ve been dropping hints. I don’t know whether you haven’t reciprocated because you don’t feel that way or because you just weren’t aware that I’ve been flirting with you.”

“I…” he started, not knowing exactly what to say. When he looked up though, he could see the question in her eyes, the absolute need to know. Instead of saying anything more, he closed the space between them, pressing his lips to hers before realizing there was a camera in the elevator.

As he pulled away, she caught sight of what he was looking at. “The power’s down. It means the camera’s off,” she breathed, taking his face in her hands and turning him toward her again. “Kiss me.”

With a deep breath, he took another step toward her, backing her into the corner under the camera and bracing his hands on either side of her body. He swallowed hard as she snaked her hands inside his jacket, wrapping her arms around his waist. Once his tongue slipped into her mouth and they began to devour each other with no thoughts of the consequences of getting caught, she gently tugged at the shirt underneath her grasp. “I’m sorry,” she said, bringing her hands up to his face. She was going to quickly without any regard for whether he was comfortable or not. She’d wanted him for so long that hormones and need had outweighed everything else. “I shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Why not?” he asked, his heated breath floating around her neck. “Did I do something wrong?” Maybe he was a horrible kisser and she wanted nothing to do with him anymore. He tucked his hair behind his ear as she smiled at him.

“You did nothing wrong, Spencer. I’ve wanted you for a very long time, but I’m moving quickly without any regard for anything but my own need and that’s not okay. I didn’t mean to put you in an uncomfortable situation.” Looking up at the camera and around the enclosed elevator, she wondered how much longer they would have to be in here - things might be about to get awkward.

Once again, her eyes darted to his lips, but just as she was about to push away to make this a little less awkward, he rolled his body into hers, taking her mouth in another body-searing kiss. “I want you too, Y/N,” he muttered, tangling his hands in her hair. “More than I’ve ever wanted anyone. I just don’t know how to go about these types of things.”

With a smile, she lifted her right leg up, resting it on his hip. His hand drifted to her bottom, tugging her pencil skirt up just enough that he could touch her heated center. “Are you sure you don’t know how to go about these kinds of things?” she giggled into his ear, a gasp stuttering its way out of her as his digits slid against her core. “You seem like you know what you’re doing.”

His thumb grazed her cheek as their tongues danced around each other. From behind, his fingers inched ever closer to her clit, her panties dampening with need for him. “Do you think you can make me come before the elevator starts up again?”

“Is that a challenge?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. He always did love a challenge. In response, he pressed his fingers deeper into her wet heat, watching as her eyes fluttered closed at his touch. “To answer your question, yes I think I can.”

She giggled into his ear, nibbling at the tender flesh at his neck as he worked his fingers against her aching sex. Thank god there were no eyes on them right now, no other ears within distance to hear her whimper for him. “More,” she commanded, reaching underneath his jacket once more to grab at his ass and bring him closer to her. “Make me come.”

Bringing his hand toward her front, he cupped her sex with his palm, rubbing gentle circles against her clit as his fingers slid inside. “Oh fuck,” she groaned, seeing the elevator lights go on out of nowhere. “New challenge, can you make me come before we get down to the file room floor.”

With renewed determination, he hooked his two fingers inside her, pulling them forward in that ‘come hither’ motion that brought the sweet, intense pressure to her innermost core. As the beginnings of an orgasm rolled through her, she grabbed his head in both hands and bit down on his bottom lip, which caused him to increase the pressure he was torturing her with. “Fuck, Spencer, oh my god.” Even though the wall was holding her up on one side and Spencer had her in his arms, she practically collapsed from the intensity of it all. “You won.”

“I think I won too,” he chuckled, taking his fingers into his mouth to taste her sweetness much to her surprise. “Actually I think I might have won more.” Just as Y/N ironed out the wrinkles in her skirt and Spencer readjusted his shirt, the doors opened with her walking out first and Spencer close behind.

As they made their way to the file room, they overheard a conversation between two other agents they didn’t know that well. “I knew the power wouldn’t be out for long, we have backup generators,” the one man said.

“Yea, I know,” his friend said, pressing the button for the elevator. “They have the backup generator so they can turn it on immediately. That way they don’t have to be without the cameras for long.”

Both Spencer and Y/N stopped dead in their tracks. Spencer sucked in his lips and Y/N bit down on hers. “The cameras were on?” he asked.

She nodded and shrugged. “Oops.”

One day when Penelope is exposing(?) the case the reader finds out that an important old friend died and she’s destroyed so Reid tries to solace her and he takes care about her more than ever, he tries to make her laugh and other things… love how you write❤️

I hope you like it anon! Also, this is unbeta so please excuse any mistakes!

“Hey it’s me Y/N. I am coming back home for a case, so I was wondering if we could hang out after that? I was thinking of taking a week off, so maybe I could stay at your place and we could spend some time together? It’ll be fun and we haven’t really seen each other for a long time. So call me back when you’re free. Bye.” She ended the voicemail, still frowning over the fact that her best friend didn’t take the call. she shove my cell back in, joining the team as Penelope showed up on the screen.

“Hello my lovely crimefighters! I just got an ID on our last victim. Her name is Olivia Carter-“

“What?”

The team turned to Y/N in confusion, but she didn’t notice it though. All her focus was on the tech analyst, who was looking confused as everyone. “Did you just say Olivia Carter?”

“Yeah, she was reported missing this morning by her husband-“

“But I talked to her last night. There’s no way that she is the victim Garcia.”

“The dentals matched and the clothes she had on matched the ones reported… oh my god,” Garcia gasped, suddenly understanding why Y/N is reacting this way.

“No, you’re wrong Garcia. There is no way Olivia is dead okay!” Y/N screamed, her body shaking. Spencer, her boyfriend, quickly gets up and tries to reach out to her but she flinches away. Spencer slows down, holding his hands to show that he means no harm. “She can’t be died,” Y/N whispers, whether to her and to the team is unclear.

“Y/N,” Spencer calls out, dread in his voice as she doesn’t respond to him. He can see how pale she became, and her body doesn’t stop shaking. He quickly grabs her when her legs give out. She doesn’t move away from him, but instead buries her head against his chest and lets out painful sobs. He shields her away from the team, who thankfully divert their eyes away from them. They knew how much Y/N hated to show her weakness to anyone, yet they needed to know everything about their victim, and Y/N is the only one right now to provide answers.

Spencer looked up to the rest of the group with teary eyes, noting the guilt and pity on their faces. Hotch looked grim, looking like he didn’t want to do this yet he knew he has to. JJ came forward and rested an hand on the grieving girl’s body, silently trying to comfort her. “Y/N, I am so sorry,” Hotch felt guilty for what he was about to do. She looks up at him, red eyes filled with pain. “But you were the last person to talk to Olivia, so-“

“Hotch do we need to do this right now?” Spencer spit out, his eyes bright with fire as he stared at his boss. Couldn’t he give her some time to grieve before he asked questions?

“No,” Y/N whispered, her voice cracking. “We need to do it right now to catch that son of a bitch.” She reluctantly turns her body away from Spencer, but he doesn’t let go of the arm on her waist. Morgan, Rossi and Blake were giving her such pitying looks that she forced herself to look at her boss’s sympathetic eyes. She felt JJ close to her, thankful for her friends’ silent comfort.

“Did Olivia tell you where she was going the last time you talked to her?”

“She said that she was at home. It was late at night, I think around 11 when I called her, so she always made sure that she would be back at home before 10. She said it was because of my horror case stories that made sure she would always go back to home at night.” A nostalgic smile is on Y/N’s face as she remembered an horrified Olivia as she talked about her cases and why should always be careful. It quickly shifted into an heartbroken expression, and Spencer yearned to comfort the woman with all he could. But he knew that this was important, so he kept quiet but he reassured her by gently rubbing her back in comfort.

“What did you and Olivia talk about last night?”

“She wanted me to come back home,” she answered, fresh tears streaming down her face as she remembered the excited voice of her best friend. “She always tells me that though, but this time she was excited about something. She wouldn’t tell me on the phone, but she was clearly happy about something.”

“How long have you known Olivia?”

A lost look comes on Y/N’s face, her eyes not focusing on the present. “She is-“ she stops to take a deep breath to not let the cry come out. “She is my best friend for 25 years now. She is almost like my sister, you know. I knew everything about her and vice versa. She was so mad at me when I left our hometown, but she understood. She always did, no matter what.”

No one correct Y/N’s use of present tense, keeping silence as Hotch continued to take on the lead. “Do you know anyone who would want to hurt Olivia? Her husband perhaps?”

“No, Percy would never do that. They were high school sweethearts, everyone in the town knew that they would get married when they started dating. No, Percy could have never-“ she broke off, looking away as new way of grief washed over her. What was going to happened to Percy now?

“So whatever Olivia did, the entire town would know about it?”

Y/N solemnly nodded, sniffing as she wiped the tears on her cheeks. “It’s why I wanted to leave. Someone’s business was everyone’s business in that town, and I hated that. There was no privacy and everyone knew everyone. I shouldn’t have left, then Olivia wouldn’t-“

“Hey listen to me,” Spencer interrupts, cupping Y/N’s face to force her eyes to meet his. “It’s not your fault Y/N, don’t ever think like that.”

She slightly nodded, leaning into Spencer who continued to hold her. The rest didn’t say anything for few minutes, feeling remorse for what their friend is going through. Hotch cleared his throat, either trying to regain the attention of Y/N or get a grip of his own emotions, Spencer didn’t know.

“Usually, I wouldn’t have let you be on the case, however I think it would be better if we have your insight. You know this town better than anyone.”

“You really think it’s someone from the town?” Y/N knew that they were right, however it didn’t feel right.

Hotch nodded. “However you won’t be on the field.”

With that and the plane soon landing, the rest of the team shifted to prepare to land soon, but Spencer didn’t leave her for a second. As soon as they land, Hotch pulled Spencer away from the group for a minute. “Reid? After we give our profile, I want you to take Y/N to the hotel,” his boss ordered and received a nod from the genius.

Hotch resisted his urge to sigh as he watched the genius quickly walk next to Y/N, holding her as they walked to the car. The team always tried to not make a case personal, however this was going to be gruesome.

….

After giving the profile to the police and catching the son of a bitch, Y/N became quiet. Almost too quiet. There was a blank look on a face, but her team could see the lost look in her eyes. Spencer gently urged her to the car, and he became worried over how unresponsive she was during the car ride. However at one point, she told him to take a right. He hesitated at first, but continued to follow her directions as she led him to a park. She got out as soon as the car stop, but Spencer didn’t try to stop her. She walked until she came in front of a particular tree and he stood few feet away as he watched her put a hand on the tree.

“We would come here whenever we wanted to tell a secret,” Y/N spoke out loud, her back still facing Spencer. “This was our safe place in a way, because here we could tell each other everything and know that we would be near hurt by the other person. And now she’s really gone.“

"I am so sorry Y/N.” He took a step closer when she turned to him. Her grief broke his heart, and he wanted to comfort her but he knew that she was still processing the loss.

“I don’t know what to do Spence,” she mumbled, bringing her arms across herself, hugging herself for comfort. “She was terrified of something happening to me, but the opposite happened. I always thought that she would be safe. I feel so empty right now Spencer, I don’t know what to do.”

“When Gideon died,” Spencer started, “All I felt was an empty place in my heart. As time went by, the empty place didn’t go away, but it became better to live with it.”

She takes a step closer to him, allowing him to hug her as she rested her head on his chest. “Thank you,” she whispered. He looked down at her in confusion. “For what?”

“For being here with me.”

Every Me And Every You - Forty Five

“We can talk about how I’m in love with you.”

Stunned into silence you let him lead you up the stairs to his apartment, him locking the doors behind you.

Leading you into his bathroom, Spencer pulled some gauze and antiseptic solution from his cabinet and plugged the sink, filling it with warm water. Cupping your chin carefully, he tilted your face upwards and dabbed at the dried blood around your lip. You sucked in air, wincing at the sharp sting.

“I really don’t know how you managed to split it so badly. It honestly looks like someone’s punched you in the mouth, Y/N. You’re not covering for him are you? Promise me you’re not.”

“I promise. I let him… I let him cane me. I wanted him to hurt me. Properly hurt me. And I bit so hard trying not to cry out, I didn’t even realise I was bleeding.”

He dabbed antiseptic onto the cut, lowering his head afterwards and softly blowing on it to ease the sting and then resting his forehead to yours, looking you directly in the eyes.

“Properly hurt you?” he asked quietly.

“I felt like I needed to be punished for ruining what we had,“ you tried to explain.

“Oh Y/N. You didn’t ruin anything. I did. By being a stubborn bastard.”

He straightened himself up and then pulled you to him gently, wrapping his arms around your back. You leaned into him, gripping his t-shirt, your face turned to the side against his chest. You’d missed him.

You’d missed him so fucking much.

You pulled away after a few moments feeling calmer, but seeing you’d left mascara marks and blood on his shirt.

“Sorry.” You pointed them out to him.

He just shrugged in response.

Refilling the sink with clean water, he reached for a packet of baby wipes and used them and some cleanser to wipe the remainder of your make up off of your skin.

“Much better,” he announced when he was done.

Taking your hand he led you into his bedroom, a room you’d also missed the sight of, and then rummaged in his drawer; pulling out an oversized shirt and some boxers, handing them to you.

“I’m gonna get some ice. Caning is one of worst offenders for marks and bruising. Get changed if you want, and lay flat. We’ll see what we can do.”

He left the room and you quickly changed, peeling off your clothes and shrugging his shirt on. You lay flat on the bed, hugging his pillow and inhaling the scent of him. You left the boxers off. No point if he was going to be tending to your butt.

Spencer returned a few moments later, placing the items on his bedside table and grimacing at your skin.

“I’m not happy that you let him do this to you, you know.”

“Yeah well…. I’m not happy about a lot of things that happened recently.”

He pushed the shirt up and placed a thin piece of cotton over your cheeks, before laying two blue ice packs on them, the coolness soothing you almost immediately.

“I’m sorry that things happened the way they did. They shouldn’t have. But you were never meant to over hear that conversation with my Mom, Y/N. I didn’t mean those things I said, I don’t even remember saying them.”

“Why would you say them though….”

He crawled onto the bed with you, adjusting the ice packs and placing his head next to yours.

“There was a lot going on in my head then. And I could do withoutmy Mom psychoanalysing our feelings for each other, however right she was.”

“Sooo….you do have feelings for me?”

“Did you not hear me outside? I’m in love with you, Y/N. I didn’t intend on falling for you, but something happened. I don’t know exactly when it stopped being about just showing you these things and started being about actually experiencing them with you, but it did. I think I was scared to admit it too, especially considering how much we’d told ourselves from the start that it was just about playing.”

He pushed back a piece of hair that had come loose from your braid, his fingers lingering on your cheek.

“I was scared too. Emily told me that we wouldn’t be able to keep this as strictly a sex thing. I fucking hate it when she’s right.”

“Me too, me too,” he agreed.

Your cell started to sing and you glanced around from your limited position for your bag.

Spender moved, retrieving it for you and pulling out your cell, wrinkling his nose up at the screen.

You shifted so you were resting on your arms and held hand out your hand for it.

Nate.

Shit, you’d said you’d let him know when you were home.

You slid the bar to answer the call.

“Hey, are you home okay?” he asked, a concerned tone to his voice.

“Yes, I’m home,” you told him, seeing Spencer roll onto his back and smile at the word home.

“Good. I’m glad. Listen…. We’re no going to end up going for coffee are we? You and him……You’re a thing, right.”

“Yes, I guess we are.”

“Alright, I’ll accept defeat graciously and bow out now. I’m sorry again for hurting you.”

“It’s nothing, not your fault,” you reassured him.

“If erm… if it doesn’t work out, give me a call. I liked you Y/N.”

You giggled and ended the call, tossing the cell down on the bed and looking across to Spence.

“So erm… What now? You love me, I love you. What happens.”

“So you do love me then… Cos I’ve said it twice tonight already and was starting to worry that you hadn’t said it back.”

“I very much do love you.” You carefully inched you way across the mattress in a commando crawl style, trying not to dislodge the ice that was doing a nice job of numbing your butt.

When your reached his body, you rested your head to his chest, sighing happily as his arms looped around you again.

“How does this work though…..do we still…. play? Or do we just….have normal sexy times.”

He kissed the top of your head tenderly.

“We’ll do whatever we want to do. We’ll figure it out, okay.”

“Okay.”

You closed your eyes, feeling Spencer starting to stroke your hair, gently pulling it loose from the braid.

“Ah crap. Guess I should see if Hotch can stop my transfer.”

You looked up at him, suddenly remembering. Spencer looked sheepish.

“You erm… Don’t need to.”

“I don’t?”

“No… I told him I’d make things right somehow. And asked him not to push them through. He said he’d told you an extended period of time anyway, to give you time to change your mind. He wasn’t going to process them until he absolutely needed to.”

Sneaky Spencer….

“So he knew?”

“Y/N, I’m fairly certain they all knew. When we stopped talking to each other, it was kinda obvious something had happened between us.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, oh.”

“Shall we send them a picture or something? So they can see….. ” You raised your head round him, trying to grin, your thick lip getting in the way.

“Maybe when it looks less like you’ve been attacked, I don’t want them rushing over here to check you’re okay.”

“Excellent point Dr Reid.”

You wriggled, the ice packs falling off your butt which you could no longer feel. Moving your body, you climbed so that you were laying flat on top of him, your whole body pressed against his, your head tucked under his chin.

Spencer let out a frustrated sigh.

“Okay?” you asked him.

“Yes and no. I really want to be kissing you right now, but we can’t. Your mouth needs to heal.”

It was a true. Kissing would hurt like hell.

“Give it a day or two. And then we can kiss. And then do it again the next day, and the next, and then the day after.”

“I like the sounds of that.”

“Me too.”

#52 with Reid pls

Prompt: “I think I’m in love with you and that scares me half to death.”

It was supposed to be simple, but then again, taking down a suspect is never easy. You should have suspected complications, expected something—everything to go wrong. Yet, you couldn’t help but feel optimistic, as if it was somehow etched into your DNA. This was a tough case to bear, let alone stomach, the unsub being a ritualistic serial killer, who enjoyed torturing his victims’ extensively before letting them succumb to death. You and your team had tracked him down to New York, one of the busiest cities in the country. After nearly a week and a half of searching, you also figured out his alias; however, in that time span he was able to murder at least two more innocent victims. Optimism was your only defense in this dark line of work, the only way you were able to stay above the dreadful things you saw on a daily basis. You saw the worst in humankind, every single day, trying to stop the seemingly incessant cycle of evil. And while your work seemed to be in vain, you knew that every single life you saved was a small victory in itself.

As soon as Derek had parked the car, you had already jumped out of the back; your gun was drawn and your vest was on. You to Hotch, as he gestured for you, Morgan, and Spencer to take the back, while JJ, Prentiss and him take the front. With Spencer by your side, and Derek following closely behind the two of you, the three of you approached the back door of the house. By the time you reached the backdoor, you could see the worry etched across Spencer’s face. You would think that after an abundance of situations like these, it would somehow get easier, but you knew that would never be the case. Too many times have you seen situations like these end up vastly different from the previous times. On one hand, no more innocent civilians could be harmed, the unsub surrendering without much of a fight. On the other hand, sometimes the only way the unsub believes he/she is getting out of the situation is by committing suicide or suicide; those situations never ended well. You could emphasize with Spencer’s worry, but you believed sometimes he worried a bit too much. Flashing him a small yet reassuring smile, you nodded at Derek and then proceeded to kick the back door open.

The house was dark and quiet, which you could tell was not a good sign. With your finger lingering on the trigger of your gun, you crept easily around the house—making sure to keep your eye out for the unsub. Faintly you could hear voices speaking in the livingroom, and after opening a few doors, you found yourself faced with the suspect. The scene was typical of a hostage situation, the woman’s hands were bound with rope, her mouth gagged, and she was on her knees in the center of the room. The unsub had the gun pointed towards her head, his eyes trained on the agents in front of him. So far he has not spotted the three of you; instead, only taking note of Hotch, JJ, and Prentiss who stood in front of him. This gave you the element of surprise, a necessity which could ultimately determine if everyone walks out alive. You could hear Hotch attempting to negotiate with unsub, Garrett Peterson, but you knew his attempts would be difficult. He was profiled to be sadistic, getting off on the idea of torturing and mutilating his victims; however, he was also highly intelligent, meaning he was far too smart to fall for just any old trick.

“If you just put down the gun, we can talk this out,” Hotch’s voice was soothing yet stern, part of the reasons why he was one of the best at hostage negotiation.

Garrett seemed to chuckle haughtily, his eyes stone cold. “Tell me, Aaron Hotchner, do you honestly believe I’m an imbecile? You’re the distraction, aren’t you, the agents behind me are backup just in case your plan goes south,” he paused, “I want them in front of me, now.”

You knew you shouldn’t comply with his orders, he was a sadistic and ritualistic serial killer, there was no way he was going disrupt his ritual in order to add another person to his name. But you wanted him alive, death was a blessing considering the atrocious acts he’s committed, and you wanted him to rot in maximum security prison for his crimes. Leading the charge, you kept your gun pointed at his chest, before slowly moving to stand in front of him–Reid on your right and Morgan on your left. Hotch, JJ, and Prentiss moved accordingly, making sure to keep their guns trained on the unsub.

“You, the one in the middle, what’s your name?”

There was this unsettling twinkle inside his eyes, which sent shivers down your spine. He was an attractive type of man, a trait he used to his advantage, luring his victims with his charm and good looks. If you were an ordinary civilian you would have probably fell victim to his antics, becoming another body in sadistic scheme. You wanted to rely on your gut instinct, which was telling you that was devolving, every single second wasted only further caused him to rationalize his choices–stick to his ritual or become a martyr. And you were willing to assume that he was leaning towards the latter.

“Her name is [Y/N],” Reid’s voice cut through the silence, his hands tightening on the handle of the gun. There was his protectiveness showing through, and as chivalrous as his actions were, they sometimes got on your nerves. This special treatment seemed to be reserved for only you, since he did not act this way around any other members of the team. His intentions were only to protect you; however, at times it got on your nerves. It was as if he thought you couldn’t protect yourself, which was far from the truth, and as much as you admired him and appreciated his protectiveness–you were deadly without anyone’s help.

As soon as those words left his mouth, the unsub’s steely gaze left your eyes and shifted toward your colleague. Your heart skipped a beat, worst case scenarios running through your head. But he soon looked away, his charming smile overcoming his unpleasant gaze.

“Take off your vest.”

His cold voice infiltrated your ears, as you attempted to keep your hands from trembling on your gun. There was no way to ignore his orders, as it was your job to put the civilian’s lives above your own–even if it meant sacrificing your life for theirs. This time he was the one who underestimated you, believing you were that foolish to blindly comply with his orders. Instead you wanted something in return for your cooperation.

“I will, only if you let go of Julia Harrison. Let me take her place.”

That is how you ended up on your knees, with a gun pointed at your chest. You were trained not to show fear, but internally you couldn’t help but wonder if this was the way you die, on your knees and by the hand of a psychopath. Glancing up, you were met with Reid’s dark eyes, those chocolate eyes that you had fallen in love with since you first saw them. In that moment, you had made up your mind, the determination in your eyes was easily perceived by Reid’s wide eyes. They pleaded with you, begged you not to, but all you could do was give him a sad and sincere smile. Before Garrett could register what was happening, you had turned around and kicked him in the groin and before any of your teammates or the officers could place him in handcuffs he shot you.

You couldn’t remember much after that, everything becoming a blur. There was commotion all around you, distant voices calling out to you; yet, you couldn’t see clearly. You could distantly remember a blob that you could only assume was Reid, but you weren’t sure. Then, it all went black.

The beeping of a machine is what you heard first, and the first thing you could remember was hearing distinct mumbling next to you. The next thing you can remember is the pain that radiated across your body. Memories of what happened came rushing back to you, and like before you were vaguely aware of a presence sitting beside you. Yet, you couldn’t open your eyes. Without opening your eyes you knew exactly who was sitting at your bedside, gripping your hand tightly, and talking to you.

“I know the doctor said that you were going to be okay, but there was significant trauma to your lung. You’ve been in a coma for a week now and I can’t help but think that you’re never going to wake up again. You’re my best friend, and I don’t even know what I would do without you. Who else would spend their entire weekend with me watching Doctor Who, or would spend hours listening to me ramble about quantum physics or the Theory of General Relativity? Every single moment that I spend with you, I feel a rush of endorphins and serotonin, these feelings, chemicals and emotions are things I haven’t felt in a long time. I didn’t think I could possibly feel this way again, not since Maeve, and yet, here I am. I think I’m in love with you and that scares me half to death, so please [Y/N], wake up. I can’t think of my life and what I would be like without you,” Spencer’s voice cracked slightly at the end, and you could feel something drip onto your hand. You wanted so badly just to touch him, kiss him, tell him that you were going to be just fine; but, you couldn’t move, nor could you see his beautiful chocolate eyes. Instead, all you could do was muster up as much strength as you had and softly squeeze his hand, praying that it was enough for him to hold onto hope.

You could only await the day when you could finally wake from this coma and kiss those pink lips that wanted to for so long.

King and Queen - Prologue

New York Times has dubbed them the ‘King and Queen of Biological Sciences’.

Ms. (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N) and Dr. Spencer Reid are some of the youngest CEOs in the world. So young, yet so successful.

In fact, by the age of twenty-five both of their enormous empires were completed from the ground up. Each of the businesses notorious from some of the most infamous scientific findings.

Millions of dollars spent and swapped every second. Experiments being planned and observed every minute.

While each of them are known for legendary companies, they are also known for their bitter, brutal rivalry.

The rivalry began the same time their businesses. Two young scientist, fresh out of college, trying to get somewhere with their intelligence. A rivalry was inevitable, but this rivalry only grows each day.

Each day the two of them push innovations, trying to out do one another. Trying to show which business is superior.

Since the two of them work in different biological sciences, they don’t interact much, which is good for everyone involved. But on the rare occasions where they do have to interact, or even stand in the same room as one another, it’s merciless.

Once either of them caught a glance, or even the slightest whiff of one another, the mood of the room changed almost instantly.

The air seemed to turn poisonous, the tension that formed was thick enough to cut it with a knife, and each of their eyes turned to daggers.

Unfortunately for these young entrepreneur they’ are going to be spending a lot of time together, very soon.

This rivalry may not make it through these next couple months. Staying in close quarters with someone can change the way you view that somebody. Maybe for the better? Maybe the worse? But I can assure you that, This is going to be interesting.

“Shall we begin?” Dr. Rossi asked, lightly tapping his glass with his knife.

All the chatter died down, and everyone looked towards the familiar voice. On his right stood his good friend, Dr. Hotchner, and on his left Dr. Blake.

These three were the ones who were hosting this party, and you couldn’t be more honored to be here. The three of them had inspired you to dedicate your life to science.

Before you met them you had no idea what you were gonna do with your life. One day, your mother had forced you to attend one of their seminars, and it was life changing.

“As you all know, every few years we host this little party.” Hotch explained, then sipping in his wine.

“And every few years, we plan a trip for some of our fellow scientist.” Rossi added.

Everyone cheered a little, raising their glasses towards the three of them.

“And we do this so everyone has a chance to compare work, learn new techniques, and see other types of experiments.” Dr. Blake said, her voice bringing back memories from the seminar.

“We looked through hundreds of names, read over thousands of reports, and studied millions of your experiments.” She added, only adding to the suspense.

“The three of us have chosen four of you to join us on this trip.” Hotch added quickly. Each of them looking down at the paper in front of them.

“First, we have Dr. Jennifer Jareau, the president of Get Zoology.” Blake said, clapping her hands together.

A woman with blonde hair stood from a table, a radiant smile on her face. All her friends clapped and shouted praises at her.

“Next we have Mr. Derek Morgan, COO of Marine Lounge.” Hotch read, scanning the room for Morgan.

You had met Morgan about a year ago, the two of you went out for drinks on occasion, but only platonically.

He joined JJ on the stage, taking a seat at a table on stage.

“Then we have Dr. Spencer Reid, CEO of Brain Properties.” Once that name left his lips the room filled with cheers and claps. You rolled your eyes, feeling sorry for JJ and Morgan. They unfortunately would have to deal with him for an extended about of time. You wouldn’t wish that on your worse enemy, well that’s because that was him, and he already has to deal with himself everyday.

“And last but certainly not least, we have (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N) the CEO on Ultra Psychology.” Hotch smiled, looking my way.

You could practically hear everyones stomach drop to their toes. The light and welcoming air turned into a heavy and stick tension.

Reid looked your way, his eyes turning to daggers, and yours doing the same. You kept eye contact with him whole way towards the stage. Your frustration growing bigger and bigger as you got closer.

The only seat available was next toy him, and you debated whether you should stay standing, but deciding against it. You sat on the edge of your seat, your blood boiling inside of you.

This amazing opportunity just turned into your worst nightmare.

and I will be posting a character list in couple days.

THANKS FOR READING! I LOVE YOU

Guys My Age

Hiya, I was wondering if you could do a something with either Hotch or Gibbs based on the song Guys My Age by Hey Violet? :3 Also, wanted to say that I bought and read your book, and I love it so much. I read in like one sitting 💚 I love your writing.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much!  I am so glad that you enjoyed it so much!  If you could give it a review somewhere, I would absolutely adore you for it. Seriously.  Well, here is your one-shot, comin’ ‘atcha!

I haven’t seen my ex since we broke up/Probably ‘cause he didn’t wanna grow up/Now I’m out and wearing something low-cut/'Bout to get attention from a grown up

You were done.  Done, and fed up, and through.  You were done chasing guys your age who wanted nothing more than to be repaid for their “generous” dates with explicit favors that they felt entitled to.  You were done with never getting to the third date.  You were done with being criticized for your “old woman ways,” and you were tired of being teased.  You were ready to hit the town and find yourself somewhere that men who cherished women congregated.  Not men who wanted to use them as chew toys or play things or temporary company.

You wanted a man.

Not a boy.

'Cause you hold me like a woman/In a way I’ve never felt before/And it makes me wanna hold on/And it makes me wanna be all yours

David saw you walk in the moment your heel stepped down onto the floor.  The light clicking sound followed you all the way to the bar, and so did his eyes.  His co-worker, Morgan, nudged him lightly as a massive smile crawled across his face.

“Think my lady for the night walked in,” Morgan mused as David continued to watch you.

“I don’t think so,” David said, “she looks a bit…guarded.”

“Oh, I can do guarded,” Morgan said as he began to get up.

But something about the way you were posturing…the way you held yourself…it beckoned something different in the air, and it possessed David to reach out his hand and keep his co-worker from moving.

“I think I should save you from the heartache before she turns ya down,” Rossi mused as he shot a glance over towards Morgan.

“Oh, really?  Think you got what it takes?” he smirked playfully.

And David was ready for his chance as he stood up and buttoned his coat closed.

All he ever wanted was to go down/What we supposed to do with all his friends around, yeah/Smoking weed, he’d never wanna leave the house/Got an empty cushion on that sofa now

You sipped your colorful martini as your back straightened out against the bar chair.  You weren’t sure what you were doing out here, honestly.  You never frequented this part of town, and you knew you would have to use your GPS to get back home.

But you had wanted something different, so here you sat.

“You look like you could use some company,” a voice behind you said.

You held your sigh in as you set your glass down, and you prepared your speech as you slowly swiveled your chair around.  But, when you were finally turned and looking at the man in front of you, you noticed his hair.  Salt and peppered, and his face etched with age.  You studied his eyes, intense and fiery, while his hands donned a kind approach by sitting in the depth of his pockets.  His shoulders were rolled back, and his dark features beckoned of a nationality she couldn’t place.

“Mind if I join you?” he asked with a kind smile.

It had been so long since you had been given a kind smile.

“I don’t mind at all,” you mused lightly as Morgan’s eyes grew wide from a distance.

Told him, “Good luck with the next one”/Maybe she’ll be just as immature/Gotta thank him, he’s the reason/That I know now what I’m looking for

The two of you talked kindly, laughing lowly to yourselves as he talked with confidence.  You listened to him talk about himself with an air of gentleness, and you flushed every time he turned the conversation back to you.

“You’re not used to this, are you?” he asked lowly.

The question caught you off-guard.

“Young men aren’t what they used to be,” you snicker lightly.

“Young men never are.  It’s the eventual fate of maturation that this generation keeps battling that seems to put beautiful women like you in the position that you are.”

You flickered your eyes to his as you spun the world around in your head.

Beautiful.

He had called you beautiful.

“Such a shame,” he sighed.  “You’re not used to that either, are you?”

“Not when nothing is expected in return,” you breathe as you keep eye contact with him.

And then?  You watched him get off of his stool.

And he held out his hand for you.

“Dance with me,” he said lowly.

Guys my age don’t know how to treat me/Don’t know how to please me/Don’t know how to read me/Guys my age don’t know how to touch me/Don’t know how to love me good/Guys my age don’t know how to tease me/Don’t know how to leave me/Don’t know how to need me/Guys my age don’t know how to touch me/Don’t know how to love me good

You took his hand as you slowly slide off of your stool.  Your heels click lightly on the floor as he leads you over to a small corner near the jukebox playing music, and he holds your hand lightly in the air before slipping his arm around your waist.  Not too high, and not too low.

And oh, how you leaned into him.

He hummed the tune lowly in your ear as he pressed his cheek to yours, and you swayed with him gently in the corner as your eyes fluttered shut.  You felt his soft skin against yours as your heart continued to beat faster and faster, and you knew from the moment his skin had touched yours that you would never go back.

You would never go back to men your age.

So I’m never going back/No, I’m never going back
