also its been a while

On the topic of the Netflix Death Note movie thing, from someone who’s been a fan of the manga for a long time now—

I just wanna say that while I’m not super excited about it, I wouldn’t crucify it for not being 100% loyal to the original story. Death Note already has 3 live action movies (which are really fucking good!), besides the anime and even a musical, so what Netflix did is mostly a…… Re-interpretation? Sort of?

I know people are worried about this being white-washing, but let us remember that Keith Stanfield will be playing L, too! The fact that the cast doesn’t have japanese actors as the main characters is because this movie is set in Seatle– like I said, as in a (sort of) re-interpretation of the story.
I’m not gonna lie and say I didn’t feel suspicious at first, but I’m willing to give it a shot before actually criticizing it, you know. The cast looks good, and the trailer looked really cool too, so… I decided to just wait instead of getting mad ahead of time.

Plus the japanese public actually seems excited about it!

So idk, it’s good to be concerned about stuff like this, but just… Give this one a chance before bashing it.

A few reasons to start Boku No Hero Academia, if you haven’t yet:

  • A cinnamon roll MC who’s all brains and only beginning the brawn part when the story begins
  • Wonderfully different characters that work well together
  • Said characters are also very wonderfully flawed
  • Said characters undergo some form of character development as the story progresses, but not at any point is it a 180 degree one or unrealistic to their pre-established characteristics
  • Logical explanations, limitations to everyone’s abilities and powers
  • Flawed, not-as-OP-as-you-would-think mentors
  • FRIENDSHIPS SO PRECIOUS THEY HURT
  • Actual consequences of actual actions taken - nope, not even your fave gets a free pass
  • YOU CANNOT HAVE JUST ONE FAVE
  • Minimal fan-service. And where it does happen it’s usually with the character themselves depicted as being comfortable with it
  • Main female character not subjected to fan-service
  • The one lecherous character is deliberately depicted as unappealing and a general loser, and even his redeeming moments include no form of lecherousness on his part
  • No other character - especially the “cool” ones or general favourites - supports/indulges in lecherous behaviour
  • What are minor characters?
  • QUALITY COMEDY
  • Most parents are alive, well and supportive of their kids in their own way
  • Dick behaviour in “good” characters not justified with a sad, tragic past so much as their own decisions/characteristics leading them to behave in that manner
  • Amazing action in every arc so far
  • Power-ups that are earned with time and effort put into towards earning them
  • MC isn’t always the problem solving, enemy defeating star of every arc
  • Genuinely interesting, memorable villains whose presence actually leave consequences
  • WELL WRITTEN PLOT AND CHARACTERS AHHHHH
  • Wonderful writing in general tbh
  • BEAUTIFULLY ANIMATED FIRST SEASON DONE, SECOND IN THE WORKS
  • WEEKLY MANGA UPDATES
  • ALL YOUR FEELS WILL BE ALL TOO REAL

Seriously, 12/10 recommend

Finally posting this even if it’s cheesy and sloppy because I’m tired of having it untouched in my drawing folder aghhh!

I dunno, I’m just really a fan of Molly being wary about Draco at first but then she starts treating him as her own son. I adore fics like that, gimme all of em

neil and andrew’s first kiss is so important

it’s andrew giving in to an impulse he’s been fighting off because he knows deep down kissing neil would not be anything like kissing roland. because he cares about neil and he hates it but he knows that there’s no turning back now

it’s neil figuring out that he really does want this but still unsure if it’s worth the risk

it’s andrew saying ‘tell me no’ and neil not saying anything because he’s kind of in the middle of a crisis and he wants to kiss andrew, he doesn’t want to say ‘no’ but he can’t say ‘yes’ yet either

and it’s andrew pushing neil away even though he doesn’t tell him ‘no’ because he didn’t say ‘yes’ either and he knows that even if he had neil isn’t in any state of mind to be able to give consent

that kiss on the roof is the start of everything and andrew is terrified of falling but he’s really too late to stop it
