hello! I'm the same anonymous that asked you about new compelted fics XD I'm sorry if that was to broad, I'm more into long fics above 30k or so so if you have any new favs ( if it was happy ending it will be much better I don't wanna be bowling my eyes out later) pretty please ^_^

I haven’t read most of these but I’m pretty sure most have happy endings^^ also not all are very new but I’m adding them if we haven’t rec’ced them because they wouldn’t have been in our word count tag before this. I’m also gonna add some that have been added to our tags in the last few months tho, just because I’m not sure what you have and haven’t read

tenacious d in the dick of destiny by jhopeg - In the midst of struggling with debts and empty plastic packets of instant ramyeon, Taehyung and Jeongguk joined forces to put the phrase “sex sells” to good use.

Invisible People by mindheist - The most important things are the hardest of all to see.

(I know this isn’t quite 30k but it’s 22k and reading mindheist is a must)

i’ll return to you (a promised handful of orange blossoms) by meanho - “Do you think he’s cosplaying an anime, or manhwa?” Jimin asked, voice in a trance. Taehyung understood his confusion because it wasn’t every day you see a person dressed as fine as the king of Joseon himself stumbling through a crowd and knocking over some Sailor Mercury’s wand. “Hmm, maybe he’s going for someone from Yona of The Dawn?” Jimin scoffed, “Yeah right, more like my 9th grade text book.”(or, the taekook Rooftop Prince AU!!) (Sequel)

of smokey bars and burning hearts by madeliefie - The boy -man- is beautiful. The way the light shines on his face tugs at Jeongguk’s heartstrings and for the first time in his life, he’s caught off guard. Jeongguk knows he isn’t going to heaven and he figures that this boy is the closest thing to an angel he’ll get. Taehyung wants the world to know who he is and Jeongguk is dangerous enough to make that happen.

Reborn in Water by TrappingLightningBugs - Freshly graduated from high school, Jungkook loses his class ring in the nearby lake, and despite the fact that his parents would be super pissed, it’s not that big of a deal. That is, until a stranger decides to appear in his bath one night, wearing his ring.

GAME OVER: Side Quest by mintsoda - “Taehyung’s eyes grow bigger than two moons, his mind goes blank, and he feels like he’s still falling from the impact of the other man throwing him down to the ground when he looks into the other’s eyes, when he takes in the scowl on his lips, the cute nose and the jet-black hair that falls into his face airily, covering his furrowed, strong eyebrows. All the sounds around him are muffled as he continues to just stare, and even when Jimin appears next to them and clutches at the stranger’s arm Taehyung cannot seem to rip his eyes away from him. And that’s when he knows that he is completely and utterly done for.”

Overtones by coley_merrin - As a vampire, Taehyung’s life is full of walls and restrictions. Jungkook is a temptation and a risk, someone who could take away Taehyung’s eternity, even as he could steal Jungkook’s future.

An Interstellar Anomaly by PaprikaFetus - They are two heirs that belong to opposite sides of the universe.

In Every Parallel Universe (I’ll Keep on Loving You) by rimacchi -   “Taehyung.” Jeongguk stops him, his hand tight on his wrist and his head roaring, aching and spinning all at the same time with his thoughts jumbling up but the elder’s lips curl — that toothy boxy grin he has seen through the years. “You disappeared. You literally disappeared. You were gone for seconds and then you just — materialized!” “I have no magic tricks, Jeonggukie.” He replies and smiles because that’s what Taehyung does. He smiles like nothing’s wrong, he laughs and makes everything brighter and beautiful and worth it. But now Jeongguk’s confused and part of him thinks it’s because of those cups of coffee last night and another thinks it’s because he’s going insane; insane because for five seconds, he saw Taehyung vanish into thin air. Or Jeongguk’s happy as a college freshman and is in love with the physical embodiment of sunshine but some shitty supernatural phenomenon makes his boyfriend appear and disappear like magic and the world must have messed up.

Bubblegum Bitch by snowmoney - Jungkook is but a simple delivery boy; the last thing he needs is a high maintenance fake boyfriend.

loving easy by aeterisks - After two years of being a cheerleader, Taehyung has come to know all the people who usually attend the basketball games. So obviously, he wouldn’t fail to notice him. (Or, Taehyung is a cheerleader, Jeongguk is a not-so-really punk and Taehyung never thought he could fall in love so effortlessly.)

you give me the whole damn zoo by themelonlord - “Taehyung, I don’t think this is a good idea,” Jimin complains as he follows closely behind Taehyung, “I mean, what do you know about this kid? He looks like some punk.” Taehyung rolls his eyes and laughs, “You know better than to judge a book by its cover.” He spots Jeongguk standing by some lockers, probably one of them is his, but he doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere. “See? He looks lost,” Taehyung points out, “It’s our job, as seniors, to offer a helping hand to new students.” - aka. taehyung learns what it means to have friends, that not everyone is as mean as those bullies that pull on his ears and make fun of his tail.

Soulmates by GiiGii - Soulmates are supposed to be rare and enviable. At the height of his career, Jungkook can’t believe he’s found his; a beautiful Omega. He also can’t believe that his soulmate has rejected him. Taehyung has struggled with being an Omega since he presented. He doesn’t want to be forced into another dominating relationship but the appearance of Jungkook is upsetting his wishes.

Kintsugi by mysweetkittae - Kintsugi (n) – The Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Jungkook never expected to meet him, the boy that shone as bright as a million suns yet carried a darkness so heavy in his heart that it left his soul shattered, scrambling to pick up the splintered pieces and put himself back together again before he fell apart once more. He never expected to meet him, but he did, and he wouldn’t change it for a thing.

Burnouts, Booze, and Babes by jvante - Taehyung and Jeongguk are just two small town best friends getting drunk too often and making big plans they’ll probably never achieve. Taehyung takes it upon himself to teach Jeongguk all of the proper ways to have sex, and Jeongguk swears he’s just hanging around because Taehyung’s good in bed. Who would have thought these small town losers, who used to smoke behind the school, would become jewelers at the biggest department store in Seoul.

Be Your Forever, Be Your Fling by seikou - “As long as you want me, I’ll stay. I’ll be in love with you; for eternity, forever. I don’t think that will ever change,” Jeongguk says, a smile to his voice.“You’re my first love. My only love.”

Of Knights and Prince and Wayward Adventures by NeraB - After his castle is stormed, Prince Taehyung is forced to flee to secure reinforcements and save all those he holds dear, but he can’t do it alone, and the King entrusts his only son, the future of his Kingdom, to Sir Jeon Jungkook, one of his bravest knights, and the son of his closest advisor. Together, they must learn to rely on one another as they embark on their mission and navigate their feelings, trying to survive long enough to save their home - and their future together.

Mutual Fiend by kkumkkatcher - “I didn’t recognize you with your clothes on.” An AU where Jungkook needs to kill Taehyung, but Taehyung also needs to kill Jungkook, and things get (more than) a bit complicated.

Prisoner of the Mind by pinkeow - When your mind traps you inside its cold and dark cell, how will you escape?

I love you everyday (don’t get away) by rooxynroll - “It’s not that, hyung.” He tries out, unsure if the word will displease or appease Taehyung. “I’m going first because we’re climbing down the stairs. I’m protecting you, preventing you from falling down.” The pout of Taehyung’s lips stretch into a sweet smile that reaches his tired eyes. “So… You walk down the stairs in front of me to protect me if I stumble and fall?” Jeongguk nods, doe eyes shining slightly amused by Taehyung’s question. “Hmm. Then, would you carry me down the stairs, Jeonggukie? I’m so tired I might actually hurt myself even though you’re right in front of me. I might sprain an ankle.”or: the one where tae is a model and guk protects his ass (amongst other things).

i'm sorry it why do you ship junkrat with mei?? if you haven't noticed or actually played overwatch, you'd know that mei hates junkrat, they despise each other and they're total opposites. and no, opposites don't always attract.

Ladies and Gentleman, we have a first!

In the two or so years I’ve had this blog, I’ve never had an antagonistic anon before. Then again, I only ever started branching out into non-Soul Eater things in September, so maybe this is just what happens when you start to create content for bigger fandoms?

First things first: If you don’t like the content I post, I suggest that you either unfollow my blog or use blacklist to block the tags for content you don’t like. Your Tumblr experience is curated by you. I’ll tag my content to help you blacklist topics you wish to avoid, but it’s ultimately up to each user to take the necessary steps to tailor their dashboard.

Secondly, in sending me a rude ask, you have given me an excuse to talk about a favorite ship of mine. So buckle up, we’ve got a long post incoming!

Why ship Junkrat and Mei? Why ship any two characters?

Take a gander at this post by @chaoticlivi. It’s a pretty exhaustive list of reasons people get invested in the relationship between any two characters. They span from aesthetic and visual tastes (these two look great together!) to more in depth, thematic ones (their relationship embodies a theme I care about). Basically, there are many many reasons to love a ship, and canon rarely has much to do with it.

In general, canon is a box of scraps. This is especially true for Overwatch, which despite its exhaustive lore leaves many holes in character stories and relationships. Nothing in the game itself (which I do play often, btw) is ‘canon.’ The voicelines you hear haven’t actually happened. They are meant to give us insight into the characters, their histories, and their relationships, but you can’t quote them as something Mei or Junkrat have actually said.

In-game content is also in flux. As more shorts and comics come out, as the actual Overwatch lore grows, the game evolves too. It’s possible what’s canon within the game now will change later on.

What I’m saying is, you can point at two voicelines and wave around words like ‘hate’ until you are blue in the face, but that won’t 1) make it canon that Junkrat and Mei will be at odds forever or 2) make me any less likely to ship them.

Now that I’ve got the “shipping doesn’t need a canon basis and Overwatch shipping is a crapshoot built on nearly nothing anyway” part done, I can actually talk about Mei and Junkrat.

Hello! I'm considering working on writing what I think could be a major undertaking for me, this being a long (epic?) poem, involving the Fair Folk! I know you do a lot of stuff related to Greek and Roman mythology, but fair folk count as mythological too (don't they?) and I thought perhaps they'd fall under your area of knowledge. If that's the case I was wondering if you had any sources you might be able to direct me to, so I can learn more about them? Thank you! I very much enjoy your blog.

Hello!! Sorry that this is a bit late, and I hope it’s still useful.

So, on my Master’s, I did a module on Celtic mythology which included a bit on fairies. However, I decided to write mostly on the realm of the fairies (the Otherworld idea) more than the fairies themselves. I can give you a few sources and ideas, though!

  • As always, I’m going to shove the old disclaimer here that Celtic studies really had a bit of a teething problem. The earlier scholarship (think late 19th to early 20th century) is incredibly fanciful and based almost entirely on speculation or inaccurate reconstructions. Some things that we tend to consider as key tenets of Celtic myth, like their ~closeness to nature~ and their ~matriarchal or egalitarian societies~ are honestly just wank made up by bored white people, usually Americans, who wanted to pretend that their heritage was idealistic so they could feel proud of it and therefore closer to it. Oops.
  • Fairies were spooky as hell!! They weren’t necessarily tricksters or even malevolent, but they were considered to live by a totally different moral code to humans, a bit like the gods in many of the well-known Greek and Roman myths. Not that their code was similar to that, because it wasn’t, but the idea of a difference in morality between humans and fairies was prevalent. This meant that fairies were often depicted as being very unpredictable, because certain acts necessitated consequences that to humans seemed irrelevant, but followed the fairy moral code.
  • An example of this would be the entrance to the Otherworld. Human beings were not supposed to contact fairies. They were supposed to wait for fairies to contact them. To make this more feasible, the entrance to the Otherworld, where the fairies existed, was temporally and spatially distant from the human world. There were certain times and locations at which the two worlds blurred and it was possible for humans to traverse the boundaries – fairies, of course, didn’t need to wait, and could cross at any time. However, it was possible for humans to seek out these specific locations and cross into the Otherworld, essentially traversing the boundaries not only between the worlds but between human and fairy moralities, and this usually led to punishment for the human. The most common form of punishment would be temporal displacement; the human would live happily in the Otherworld for, say, 5 years, and when they decided to leave, they would find that 500 years had passed in the human world and they were barred from the Otherworld, essentially living in neither world. Seems a bit out of proportion to me, but there you go.
  • tl;dr fairies are often presented as inherently malevolent, when actually they just Did Things Differently.
  • Death!! You’ll probably come across some wank sources which claim that Celtic fairies are definitive proof that Celtic people worshipped the dead, or that they represent Christian angels, or that fairies were pagan gods. None of these are accurate (or at least proven to be so), so take those with a pinch of salt. However, there are links between fairies and death. You couldn’t eat in the Otherworld, for example; a bit like the Greek myth of Persephone, who wasn’t supposed to eat in the Underworld. Fairies could literally take you out of the human world and trap you forever in theirs, which has obvious parallels with death. Certain rituals described in fairy lore, such as feasts and dancing in the Otherworld, resembles what we know of burial rites and death rituals. None of it is definitive, but it’s enough to posit that fairies had a very dangerous side.

Some fancy sources:

  • Katherine Briggs – Encyclopedia of Fairies
  • Carole Silver – Strange and Secret Peoples (this one is actually about the role played by fairies in the Victorian era, when much of the spurious scholarship was being produced – still interesting!)
  • W. Y. Evans-Wentz – The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries (one of the old ones, but one of the less wanky ones. Linking it primarily as it’s freely available here)

I’m not sure what your access to journals and stuff is like, so I won’t link specific articles, but Folklore, Ériu and any of the Proceedings of the Harvard Celtic Colloquium would also be good places to look!

Hope some of this is helpful!

So I wrote a thing in response to this post.  It makes a few specific references and really only makes sense if you look at that first, but I didn’t want to add this on by reblogging because 1) I don’t want to start an argument or anything (though I think I’ve kept it civil, it’s just a different opinion, I just like to really examine each point and why I disagree okay) and 2) it’s over 1500 words SO

Basically the post is about how Harry should have become the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and I respectfully disagree and here’s why

I have a fricking midterm tomorrow what am I doing

Hello! I have recently been exposed to a lot of jonerys. I don't have anything against it but I'm not sure how I feel. Could you convince me?

Hi there! So honored to have you here! What a great and exciting ask. Sorry for my delayed response but I wanted to be sure to do it justice haha.

Alright so there are a lot of reasons to love Jonerys.

I’ve talked before about why I think they will be compatible, and I’ll probably recycle that answer a bit because I have a bunch of new followers since then. But before I get sappy I want to talk about the realm as a whole.

I think that Jon and Dany as a pairing is the best and healthiest outcome for the realm.

Jon Snow’s arc has been focused on the themes of equality and personal freedom.

Starting in Winterfell we see that Jon was marginalized and did not receive equal treatment due to the circumstances of his birth. This molded him into an insular and bitter young man.

When he first arrived at The Wall he behaved petulantly because he resented the feeling that he was deceived by Benjen and others when he discovered that the NW is not made of chivalrous men from noble houses, but commoners and many criminals. But befriending these men, starting with Sam, began Jon’s personal journey to help and uplift people who are looked down in society.

Of course his time with Ygritte and the other Free Folk contributed to this worldview and eventually as Lord Commander he made history by allowing them South of the Wall. So we know that as a leader Jon is someone who would value equality and freedom for all people which would help everyone to thrive.

Meanwhile Daenerys was on a parallel journey. As an exiled young girl she had even less agency and autonomy than Jon did and was more or less sold into sexual slavery to Drogo. She saw how women were treated in that culture and how the poor, sick, and elderly were treated in a society that put so much value on physical strength. When her dragons were born she adopted the unwanted dothraki, the weakest among them, as her khalasar and protected them.

Her liberation of Slaver’s Bay parallels Jon’s liberation of the wildlings because like Jon, Dany knows what it’s like to be looked down on and sneered at. So instead of sailing for Westeros to fulfill her personal destiny when she had the chance, she stayed until Meereen was stable so that its people could live freely and equally and so that each and every person there could follow their personal destiny, too.

So Dany and Jon come from similar backgrounds and have similar feelings about people and the world, and they both stand poised to rule. Jon has the loyalty of the North; Dany has the loyalty of the largest fighting force.

If these two come together, not only can they save the realm from the WW (which is the most important thing of all) but they can also oppose rulers like Cersei and Euron who would only continue to let the realm wither under their oppression.

But in addition to what they could do for the realm, think of what they could do for each other!

Dany’s entire family was murdered and while she wasn’t around to feel the pain of most of their deaths, she still feels the pain of being alone without a family to take care of her. She also had to watch her brother, someone she loved in spite of his cruelty, die because he was such a threat to her and the life of her unborn child. Top this all off with the fact that in spite of Drogo raping her, she seems to have genuinely loved him over time and she had to end his life to put him out of his catatonic misery.

Jon’s family was also murdered. He doesn’t know about Rhaegar and Lyanna, but like Dany, his father was murdered during Robert’s Rebellion and his mother died from childbirth. Ned was murdered, Robb was murdered, and like Dany having to witness the death of Viserys, Jon watched Rickon murdered right before his eyes. Finally, Just as Dany lost Drogo, Jon lost Ygritte and she died in his arms tragically.

So they are both pretty much alone in the world. Together they are the last Targaryens, though neither of them knows about the other yet. Each of them doesn’t really have a home. I think it was telling in Sunday’s episode when Jon said that Sansa “is” the only Stark in Winterfell. He didn’t say, will be after he leaves. In other words, no matter how far he has come, no matter how welcoming and kind Sansa has been to him, Jon still believes that he is not a true Stark and still feels like a Snow–a bastard.

Meanwhile, Dany’s homecoming in Dragonstone was not all she’d hoped it would be. She realizes that a piece of land and a castle do not equal a home. Because home is being with people you love. And Jon and Dany are going to be that for one another.

I don’t think that either of them can find another person who will relate so well to everything they’ve been through. Because yes, there are other people who have suffered on the show. But Jon and Dany have both suffered and been left alone while also living as rulers. They both bear the burden and responsibility of the people who are loyal to them. For the first time they will find a person who actually understands what that is like.

I think that’s going to be so beautiful. They can be truly happy together, even if that will be ruined by the war and violence and everything else.

And while I know the incest freaks some people out, I’ve discussed why I don’t think it will be a problem here. But in addition to that, I was recently reminded that both Jonnel and Edric Stark married their neices, in addition to countless Targaryen intermarriages. I think the fact that Jon and Dany are both Targaryens matters. Because out of all the families, the Targaryens practiced this the most and it was by no means expected for incest to produce children who were physically or mentally affected by that. Aerys II does not represent all Targaryens or the supposed side effects of Targaryen incest. In fact, I believe that since Targaryens are the blood of Old Valyria, where intermarriage was also practiced, and since Valyrian blood is clearly magical (dragon taming, Dany’s invulnerability to fire, etc), we can’t really compare their unions to those of normal humans. And it’s possible that their magical blood actually makes them attracted to one another. It would help to explain how so many Targaryens practiced incest for so long. Even some of Aegon V’s children wed incestuously in secret despite his attempts to keep them apart. So I think that Targaryens possibly have a special bond with one another and that Jon and Dany might, too.

I also talked about their overall compatibility this in response to a similar ask so there is some overlap but also some stuff I didn’t cover here if you’re still interested. I hope I helped to convince you some! Thanks for sending this and welcome to our fandom <3

Hi Tink ! 😆 You have a new french fan now ! I'm litterally a french girl lol But now it's the time for the question : I think Destiel is the greatest love story ever, because there are so many feels (but there are death, pain, death and DEATH too). And you ? Do you think like me ? What's your arguments ? I'm curious. (I'm so sooooo sorry for my bad English. I understand English, but it's a little hard to me to write and speak it.)

Hi!

Je suis moitié française donc si tu veux parler envois moi un message en chat :)

As for my arguments for Destiel… I mean basically this is my whole blog :D

If I had to pick 3 though:

1. Destiel is consistently and purposefully written into the script with STANDARD ROMANCE TROPES that are recognisable from any range of romantic stories, from Shakespeare to Disney, and even shows written by the same writers or on the same network (look at Timeless, who in the episode that MISHA starred in, that they knew SPN fans would watch, purposefully wrote an “I need you” between the canon romantic couple, sheesh).

They even heavily and consistently parallel them with romantic couples/ unrequited love WITHIN THE SAME SHOW!

most blatantly: Jess/Sam, Mary/John

but also  Bobby/Karen, Cain/Colette, Don/Maggie, David/Violet, Dean/Cassie, Chronos/Lila, Cacao/Betsy, Jesse/Cesar, Jeffery/his demon, Sam/Amelia, Benny/Andrea, Prometheus/Hayley, Dean/Amara, Ishim/Lily. Gavin/Fiona…

let’s not forget right now: Corbin/Michelle “I just watched the man I love die, there’s no normal after that…”

2. The Dean / Cas chemistry, see this post in which I explain how Jensen and Misha do not have the same chemistry when they are not playing standard Dean or Cas, therefore it is on purpose when it IS Dean and Cas.

3. It is the most beautiful and long drawn out love story that I can think of in fiction…. ever. I mean, yes there are amazing books and movies, but they don’t take 14 years to read. There are great stories that build romance but few of them give such insight into the characters as this show has, giving them so many reasons not to love each there, but they still do, so many obstacles and so many reasons why they ARE each other’s perfect partner, how they complement each other so well, how they aid each other’s own endgames so perfectly and are so well written that it is almost funny how subtle yet how blatant it is and how some people can’t see it just because they are two guys… I mean its funny but it’s also sad that heteronormativity can blind some people to this beautiful story, because that is exactly how I see it, genuinely the most beautiful love story I know, and I read a LOT of books and watch a LOT of tv and movies…

So yeah, those are my three main reasons why I ship Destiel.

I don't mean to worry you, but if it took around one month for Ayato to reach the underground city (around March-April if I'm not mistaken) and it will take another month for him to get back, and he'd probably want to explore the city more thoroughly, I wouldn't count too much on him coming back in time :(

Hello :) And okay, so I did a bit of rereading but we don’t know exactly when Ayato left to explore the 24th ward?
So I’m not sure about one month, it seems to be very long especially since they had a shortage of food, so they wouldn’t have been able to carry food worth for two months (going there and going back) with them.

Finally, Touka and co would have worried if he had been gone for so long so… sorry but I don’t think Ayato took one month to find the city; it’s more like one week or ten days in my head (but I could be wrong, of course).
And even then, we can’t be exactly sure of what day it was when we saw Ayato investigating the 24th ward (remember the cochlea/rushima arc and how the timelines wer different?).

We’ll see anyway :) Thank you for the nice gesture though, I really appreciate it and you’re definitely right, we never know and I shouldn’t hope so much, just in case.

 Have a nice day Anon!

See just above Anon :)

Hello! And yes, I hope so, since Ayato himself is a good fighter and he has his own squad with him so no matter who he brings back from the 24th ward, it might be enough to face the enemy.

We’ll see if he really ends up fighting the Oggai though, because there is no guarantee and Sensei might want to hurt Touka just to give more of a tragic turn to the story, but… Now that Kaneki finally acknowledged that he wanted to live and protect Touka, I don’t think the point is to have him lose Touka.

Mutsuki is a wild card though, and that’s without really couting on the Oggai, so it will be tough and we will probably get a few cliffhangers that will make us all worry. Nevertheless I’ll count on Ayato to intervene until he does so or until the following arc ends, haha.

I’m hoping we’ll see some good dynamic between the Kirishima siblings, especially since Touka once said…

…And then she ended up protecting him. The two of them fighting side by side or Ayato protecting Touka a bit would be nice, I hope we get to see something similar to that in this arc. :)

Thanks for passing by and have a nice day!

Hello and sorry Anon, but nope. :) Ayato couldn’t come to the wedding because he’s still deep below in the 24th ward, that’s the reason.

That being said, I agree that he might be the one who will help his sister against the Oggai if he comes back on time, and I’m also a firm believer that both Kaneki and Touka might overcome their parallels to Arata/Hikari and Yoshimura/Ukina so please keep hoping for Touka to be safe!

Have a nice day :)

Maybe the animators don't like Sakura and she isn't a vital support for the series only Sasuke and Naruto are. No offense. Sakura is a tag along even for a suppose main character we never saw or Kishimoto wasn't interested in letting us know who the Sakura's parents where he obviously doesn't like her. At least he didn't mess around with SS moments I think that's the only thing Kishimoto handle well in the manga the anime was terrible doe. I hope I wasn't offensive if so I'm sorry.

You’re not offensive at all. However,

  1. During the 2015 Jump Festa, Kishimoto expressed how much he likes Sakura, and how upset he was by the fandom’s reception. He really tried his best with Sakura. He was proud for turning her into a “fine young lady“ by the end too.
  2. Kishi was pressed by the editor to not introduce Sakura’s parents in the manga, due to the low popularity of her character. However, RTN’s parent designs are Kishimoto’s.
  3. Oh dear, Sakura isn’t a vital support for the series? A LOT of the manga isn’t vital to the plot’s progression, but it serves for its better appreciation, and those parts aren’t treated as badly by the animators. Almost all characters are in a way or another subplots to Naruto’s and Sasuke’s developments. They are the protagonists after all. Back to Sakura,
    1. She injected Naruto’s chest with chakra. Naruto would be dead otherwise.
    2. She saved Sasuke from the alternate dimension by aiding Obito. Sasuke would be dead otherwise.
    3. Except for the last arc, Sakura’s words are consistently the only ones to reach out to Sasuke, “devouring the wicked power”. Sasuke reacts to her, without her realising.
    4. It’s Sakura who was given the promise of a lifetime.
    5. It’s Sakura who discovers the whereabouts of Orochimaru to rescue Sasuke.
    6. Without Sakura, Sasuke would have been a murderer of two innocent hindrances (the Otogakure guy at FoD, and Karin).
    7. It’s Sakura who smacked a god in the head.
  4. Let’s be honest, the Naruto plot is about getting Sasuke away from the path of evil. What are the most relevant bonds? NaruSasu - the Yin-Yang ”brotherly” growth-promoting rivalry, ItaSasu - unconditional love of your natal family, SasuSaku - unconditional love of your family-to-be. The parallels were decided since 2006.
  5. Saying that Sakura is not plot-relevant also means ignoring the most significant lessons to be learned from the manga.
    1. Never give up on people whom you know still have some good in them. Don’t force yourself onto your loved ones, but let them know you will always be there for them.
    2. Armed with hard work alone, you can become the most accomplished professional in your field. Don’t forget Sakura is the only one after Tsunade, privileged by her Senju lineage, to master the Byakogou. She discovered Kankuro’s antidote within hours, failed accomplishment by Sunagakure’s entire medic team. The God of Shinobi is impressed by her alone.
    3. A girl doesn’t need to be romantically attached to a person to experience compassion and affection for them. (See Naruto, Chiyo, Rock Lee, Hinata, Karin, endless injured shinobi and children)
    4. Intelligence and accomplishments are sexy
    5. Once you think you’ve exhausted all your resources, you can still “give everything you’ve got”. Sakura drained her little chakra left to pump life into Naruto’s heart. She still managed to release her Byakogou after that. Twice. That’s unbelievable courage and resilience.
  6. Kishimoto too never stopped thinking of Sakura as a heroine (see JF15 interview again). You say that her skills aren’t comparable to Naruto and Sasuke’s, but she’s a Sannin/Kage-level shinobi at 17. Actually, I’m thankful that at least one main character was spared of gratuitous power-ups.

Would it have been nicer if Kishi had given more focus to Sakura? Sure. Though it’s more the reader’s fault, and his inadvertent misogyny. People on average prefer unrealistic women, stripped of their humane complexity, “physically strong and mentally impassible”. Sakura is real, she faced problems which are relatable for many, and she’s an excellent role model for the way she overcame them. Arguably, she sustained the most tangible character development of all characters.

Regardless, the animator’s biases shouldn’t show. Some people will never read the manga, and their understanding of Sakura is forever skewed by people who de facto are overturning the plot of the manga. Then anime watchers complain that the plot isn’t consistent. Of course it isn’t. You’re not telling the story right.

A meeting of the Sans

  • sans1: hey sans.
  • sans2: hi sans.
  • sans1: any change over in your timeline?
  • sans2: eh. not really. the kid keeps botching his genocide run.
  • sans1: they still haven't given up on that, have they?
  • sans2: in a way. they always stop at my bro, thank god. speaking of, how is he on your end? you got a pacifist run, right?
  • sans1: yeah. he's studying for his permit. undyne is teaching him the ropes.
  • sans2: niiiiiice. what caught on fire this time?
  • sans3 has joined the room
  • sans1: nothing, but they did manage to destroy an old warehouse the other day. we've been told we're saving the city millions by letting them practice in destruction zones.
  • sans3: hey sans and sans. talking about papyrus?
  • sans1: hey, sans. yeah, post-pacifist and learning to drive from undyne.
  • sans3: nice. what caught on fire this time?
  • sans1: nothing.
  • sans3: really?
  • sans2: i know, i'm so proud of him.
  • sans3: hey sans. still on botched genocide?
  • sans2: yeah. hope the kid gives up soon, it's giving me a heart attack every time they approach papyrus.
  • sans3: yeah... god i miss him.
  • sans1: don't tell me. genocide?
  • sans3: the kid's taking a break from being dunked on.
  • sans2: how many times have you won?
  • sans3: 107. i know it's only a matter of time, but isn't that approaching the record?
  • sans1: dude, i think the record was 618.
  • sans4 has joined the room
  • sans3: oh man, really? so much for my record.
  • sans4: hey guys. dunking record?
  • sans3: yup. 107.
  • sans4: dude, nice.
  • sans3: oh, actually make that 108. brb
  • sans3 has left the room
  • sans2: christ how does he keep that up?
  • sans1: i hear the sanses in the genocide runs get numb a lot faster.
  • sans2: that's hard to believe for me. i still break into a cold sweat when my papyrus is facing the kid, and he always backs down in my timeline.
  • sans4: they're still at that?
  • sans2: yeah. can we move on to a lighter topic of conversation?
  • sans4: ah man sans, i didn't mean to rattle your bones or anything.
  • sans1: tibia honest, i didn't wanna make light of your situation.
  • sans2: heh. want me to pull papyrus in here? he'd hate this.
  • sans5 has joined the room
  • sans4: nah. he deserves a break every once in awhile.
  • sans5: hey guys. can't stay for long, about to head out. just wanted to check in.
  • sans1: hey sans. what's the rush?
  • sans5: date.
  • sans2: oooooooooh
  • sans1: oh oh oh oh
  • sans4: c'mon spill the beans man
  • sans5: heh, alright. post pacifist, toriel.
  • sans4: i can relate. i'm with toriel in my timeline, too.
  • sans5: how long?
  • sans4: about two years, now. first date on your end?
  • sans5: that obvious?
  • sans4: i can't even see you and i can tell you're rattling your bones.
  • sans2: wait, who's toriel?
  • sans1: the lady behind the door.
  • sans1: let's focus on what's important right now. namely, embarrassing sans before he goes on his first date.
  • sans5: wait. what.
  • sans4: i agree totally. hey sans, toriel really likes touching the rib cage. just saying.
  • sans5: oh
  • sans4: and watch it, she's a cuddler. like, you've seen how she hugs frisk? just wait until she gets her paws on you. like being wrapped in a thick, furry blanket.
  • sans5: oooooooooh
  • sans4: and if it goes well, she has this really cute dress that
  • sans5: i came here to have a good time and i'm honestly feeling so attacked right now
  • sans2: guys if i laugh any harder i'll wake papyrus up
  • sans4: alright alright. seriously though, she prefers white wine, she'll expect a kiss at the end but she'll be fine if you're too flustered, and avoid talking about asgore, unless you immediately turn it into a pun. her favorite is the "my aim is getting better" one. if she's comfortable enough to initiate that herself, you're golden. that help?
  • sans5: yeah. thanks.
  • sans4: also, she has this sweet spot right at her thigh. she'll make this adorable bleating/giggle and you know you've got the right spot.
  • sans5: okay wow it looks like time i should go
  • sans5 has left the room
  • sans4: he'll be fine.
  • sans1: so toriel, huh? weird.
  • sans4: why's that?
  • sans1: honestly, i can't see myself with anyone but mettaton.
  • sans4: oh my god, mettaton?
  • sans2: dude. dude. whoa.
  • sans1: what? what's wrong with that?
  • sans4: my papyrus is dating mettaton in my timeline.
  • sans1: your papyrus is in a relationship? mine's aro.
  • sans2: and meanwhile i'm sitting in a timeline where papyrus just has a huge crush on the rectangle.
  • sans6 has joined the room
  • sans1: that's just... bizarre.
  • sans2: and chatting with parallel timeline versions of yourself isn't?
  • sans1: point taken.
  • sans6: hey guys. what's up?
  • sans4: quick, who are you in a relationship with?
  • sans6: uh... gaster?
  • sans2: ...
  • sans4: uh, ew.
  • sans1: whoa.
  • sans6: hey man, don't kinkshame me bro.
  • sans4: dude, he's my dad in my timeline?
  • sans6: your dad? freaky.
  • sans2: oh you poor soul. he was just my lab partner in my timeline.
  • sans1: it's... weird for me.
  • sans4: okay, i'm really curious. how weird?
  • sans1: well, "gaster" is actually the name me and pap used to call ourselves before he split into us two.
  • sans6: oh yeah, i've met a sans like that.
  • sans2: i sure haven't. when does he get on?
  • sans6: time is relative, but i think early morning?
  • sans2: ah. that explains it.
  • sans4: yeah, the only reason i get out of bed in the mornings is because toriel practically drags me out on my feet.
  • sans2: papyrus does the same for me.
  • sans6: so... wait. does this mean, from a multiversal sense, i'm engaging in both incest and selfcest?
  • sans1: hey, this is a judgement free zone dude.
  • sans3 has joined the room
  • sans4: you're the one who said not to kinkshame you.
  • sans3: back. 108 now. man i walked into a weird conversation.
  • sans2: c'mon sans, we've had weirder.
  • sans6: wait, 108 what?
  • sans4: speak for yourself. i'm getting weird mental images with me and gaster, now.
  • sans3: dunks. end of genocide route.
  • sans2: hey, remember when amalgamate sans entered the chat?
  • sans4: okay, i'll admit that was weirder.
  • sans6: and really sad. i think that was the only time alphys ever joined the chat.
  • sans1: yeah. i wonder how they're doing?
  • sans6: amalgamate sans or alphys?
  • sans1: both.
  • Core Frisk has joined the room
  • sans6: well hopefully
  • sans2: wait who's this?
  • sans1: frisk? wait, what?
  • sans4: oh, hey frisk.
  • Core Frisk: Hello Sanses. Sorry, I'm not interrupting anything, am I?
  • sans6: uh. hey kid. this is a little hard to explain, but
  • Core Frisk: Don't bother. I'm not your Frisk, anyway.
  • sans4: yeah, he's a frisk that fell into the core and now he's kinda omniscient.
  • sans1: wait, what?
  • sans3: whoa.
  • sans6: and gaster was worried about nearly falling into the core.
  • sans1: he had every right to be.
  • Core Frisk: I just wanted to pop in and saying the particular sans amalgamate you were talking about a moment ago is doing fine, in a manner of speaking. He insists that he's happy so long as Papyrus is with him.
  • sans1: that's a relief, i guess.
  • Core Frisk: Oh, and Sans? The one who's been married to Toriel for two years?
  • sans4: yeah?
  • Core Frisk: Just a heads up, sans' first date went fine, but he's plotting a revenge prank on you.
  • sans4: wow kid, that's real cool of you to let me know.
  • Core Frisk: Don't thank me. He asked me to pull the prank myself. Undyne is going to be hunting for you to get her eyepatches back.
  • sans4: what.
  • Core Frisk: if you start running now, you may just get a head-start! :-)
  • sans4: ...
  • sans4 has left the room
  • sans3: that was ice cold, kid.
  • sans6: and amazing. teach me your ways, o master of pranks.
  • Core Frisk: Aw, well I did learn from the best. Namely, you. You're gonna teach me that one in a few months when I visit you.
  • sans6: niiiiiice.
  • sans2: hey, kid? you know all possibilities across all the timelines, right?
  • Core Frisk: Yes. Your Frisk will finally quit at the King Papyrus ending. It'll be lonely for him, but so long as you're with him, he'll be fine. You're a great second-hand man and an even better brother.
  • sans2: ...i gotta run, guys. i, uh... i gotta tell my bro i love him.

  • Core Frisk: Where would the fun be if I told you that?
  • sans1: fair enough. alright, i'd better head out. i need to go read papyrus his bedtime story.
  • sans6: and then have fun times with mettaton?
  • sans1: i'm ace.
  • sans6: oh.
  • sans1: ...i don't want to know what you do with gaster, do I?
  • Core Frisk: No, you really don't.

  • Core Frisk: Well... I've always wanted to try out a jetpack.
  • sans7: you can jump across timelines, right?
  • Core Frisk: You HAVE met me, haven't you?
  • Core Frisk: That was a rhetorical question. I know that you've met me. Omniscient and all.

Hi! I don't know if this might be bothersome to you (if it is, I apologize) but I'm feeling a bit down, cause I've been disliking my body less and less as the days go by, so I wanted to ask if you could possibly do a couple scenarios (or headcanons if you want) on how Ace and Zoro would act upon seeing their female overweight partner struggle with their body image? Thanks and advance and sorry :)

Hi :) I don’t mind at all ! Can I say something ?

You shouldn’t care about what you look like. This body you have, he is yours. You own it. You should be able to make it look like the way you want. It took a lot of time to “like” my features. And little by little I learned to not look into the mirror in a hating purpose. To aknowledge that everyone looks different. To accepte my image and to make it my own. Cut your hair. Dye them. Shave or let you leg hair grow. Paint your nails or your face or paint nothing. This is you. You should not let it define who you are. Because if you think about it, you feel bad about… the flesh in your body ? About the organs you have ? About the cells on your skin ? About just a group of differents tiny cells who make who you are as a human form ? Do you know how freaking tiny shit we are in comparision to the universe ? We don’t know what’s inside black holes yet. If the string theory is real. We still hadn’t travelled in space and time. You still didn’t see the “you” of a parallel universe. We still don’t fucking know how aliens looks like.

I swear to fuck you look breathtakingly beautiful once you make peace with your body and love it.

Ace

  • In the beginning he won’t really notice it. It’s little by little that he sees you covering more and more your body that he start to know what happen
  • He’ll ask you about it. And won’t let the subject drop until you tell him the truth
  • He’s really saddened by how you feel. He don’t really get it.
  • You’re so fucking beautiful and awesome you shouldn’t feel like that. He won’t stop hugging you and telling you how beautiful you are
  • You can be sure that every day he’ll tell you a thing he like about your body
  • The smell of your hair. Your cute fingers. Your warm belly. Your comfortable back. Your Oh so beautiful eyes and lips. Your cute nose and cheeks.
  • When he’ll say it it’s a little awkward because he don’t know how to bring the subject so he’ll just say with a big smile “Ah ! I like that about you”
  • Super thin or overweight, he doesn’t care what you look like. He like how nice and kind hearted you are.
  • If you want to change your look he’ll ask if he can help you. He want to support you as much as he can and will let you abandon when you want. He doesn’t want you to overwork or you to only think about it.

Zoro

  • He’ll get the hint pretty quickly, surprisingly. And he’ll confront you about it.
  • He won’t force you if you refuse to say anything
  • But he’s really frustrated about it so he’ll try to say nice things about you more often
  • If you still feel like hiding your body he’ll help you, but also remind you that you are beautiful and you should not hide. Asking if you really want to wear these clothes
  • He can understand how some people can be self conscious so he’ll make sure you know he like the way you look and that you are really beautiful and should be comfortable in your own skin
  • If you tell him about it when he’s confronting you, he’ll kiss your forehead and say that you’re dumb for thinking that.
  • He feel really angry because he know he can’t really do anything about it
  • As you train he’ll keep complimenting you trying to make you feel better
  • He actually don’t care about your look. For him if you don’t like your overweight body you work to change it. He’s not against helping you but he don’t want to be too rude or make you work too hard.
  • For him, what matter the most is your mind. If you have will, dreams, ideals, respects. Not if you’re tall, skinny, black, or with big boobs.

Hi Elle!! I'm sure you're living the most extraordinary life ever and blessing the earth with your every move! :) I find that the happier and more I live out my joy too the less I care about posting online and arguing with people online and stuff like that. I'm following your lead and grounding more into an authentic real-world experience and finding such great peace because of it!!! I was just thinking that you don't have many earth lives. But are there any you haven't told us about? I'd

((2)) love to hear about it/them! Sorry for my typos in my first message. Thanks for being you!! Your social media pages are so beautiful and drama free without arguments and petty debates. Thanks for leaving them up even though you don’t use them very often. They are my happy place whenever I need to focus on what matters in life again. Love you sweet mermaid!!

Answer:  Yeeees! <3 <3 <3 My facebook friend list has dropped by 150 people because so many people are feeling the call to connect in more authentic ways, even if they do still keep up a small social media appearance! =) <3 I love it. And yes my life is so juicy and amazing… Chris and I just got back from white water rafting in New Mexico and playing at the beach in *real Mexico! ;) We just bought our plane tickets for Japan (Mt. Fuji is calling!) and we are also saying a huge yes to an invite to speak at the Bali spiritual community retreat this winter! =) <3 <3 <3 Their location is so celestial and beautiful… the last time I was in Bali I was introduced to the king (who actually didn’t want to be king and chose to be a taxi driver instead)! 0.0 Bali is a very unique place and I’m so excited to see what ineffable joys present themselves to us this time around! <3

Speaking of Japan… this leads me to my answer regarding your past life question!

I had a past life as a Japanese woman in what I believe to be near the end of the Edo period of Japan. I was very beautiful in that life and was a Pisces woman according to western astrology. Instead of dark eyes, I remember having greyish eyes. Kind of like the woman in “Memoirs of a Geisha!” A lot of people were in love with me and I had permission to enter a very rich elderly man’s fish garden where he kept koi and beautiful, rare plants. I was known around my home as the “fish lady” or whatever loosely translates to those words in English. A few kids said it jokingly, but most people called me that affectionately. It was there that I had a beautiful romance- not with a man- but with a particular koi fish. I think that, other than the fact that I love fish in this life too, this is why I love the story of Tesla and his pigeon so much. I get it. I lived it. This fish was a merman incarnated in fish form and I spent almost every hour of every day laying by his pond having full “conversations” and interactions with this koi fish. I didn’t have a regular job and was sustained by gifts given to me by lovers and people who desired me. I wasn’t treated badly by the people even though I was kind of eccentric and there wasn’t much drama I had to deal with in that life. I was truly loved and appreciated even though I was a little strange. Some people regarded me as a great shaman because of my connection with fish. Later on I had people come to me to get advice on matters of love and compassion. I don’t think I ever married in that life and I chose to exit my incarnation fairly early in my late 30’s I think… The koi fish I loved so much lived longer than the average koi normally would and he incarnated again a couple of times and found his way to me within that same life.  Many girls came to me and asked for my beauty secrets and even though I wasn’t particularly interested in beauty as a whole, I always did look very nice when I went out. It felt like part of my “ritual” in preparing for my fish lover.

I was still very aware of my starseed self in that life, but coming to earth to have a life with my beloved merman was kind of a reward for everything I had done for the planetary/galactic realm. It was a life that I chose to have purely for pleasure with no career distractions or contact with e.t. races other than the mer realm– and obviously humans. I wasn’t a geisha, a religious helper, or a wife. I wrote a little poetry and was a lovely dancer, but I didn’t use either of those things to entertain. I do remember playing a small stringed instrument by my koi pond though. This life was kind of like a mini vacation- not that I necessarily needed one since I loved my parallel e.t. lives so much… but it was still a treat for me because my merman wanted to come to the earth realm for a short time and it made sense that I would be there to greet him too! I always feel strong, but pleasant emotion when I read about Japanese culture and I taste mild, sweet things in my mouth when I remember the times I spent with my koi fish. I remember all of the sweets and kindnesses I was shown in that life and feel the deep respect from the people I knew. Those things will always be parts of my heart.

(I have also always been drawn to Japanese fan magic because I- and a small group of young female acquaintances (and one man)- used to summon the winds with our fans in a difficult, but beautiful dance with Japanese fans. We once stopped a small battle/skirmish with our fan/wind magick and the men were able to come to a nonviolent agreement. Not many people know about this talent or magickal opportunity, but it is very useful for people who have a strong air element. It’s kind of like how Native Americans can do a “rain dance” and cause it to rain in a clear sky. Eventually I would like to write a small booklet about this magick so that others can rediscover it and use it themselves. Fans are just permission slips like anything else, but they really enhance the experience. And they are pretty! ;) <3)

Thank you for your question and support! It’s good to check in with my tumblr loves every once in a while! Love you all so, so much! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

amazing post thank you, this fandom is deseparating sometimes, i think is gonna happen happen in s5,but we are getting canon in the next two episodes of this season, because i'm afraid that they are gonna separate them for 5 years for that and because it is in the text they need canon kiss admission of feelings one of them or both.

i agree with you so much, anon! *_*

i honestly don’t know what has gotten into this fandom since the last episode, but browsing through the tag is an incredibly negative experience. everyone is writing pessimistic meta about how “the writers might have changed their mind and are going to keep bellarke platonic” just because their expectations weren’t met and niyla.rke had a scene.

i’m sorry that i’m using this ask to break all of the bullshit down, but i feel like i have to.

a) the niyla.rke scene was intimate, but i genuinely think that people are missing the bigger picture. as @bellamyblakesprotectionsquad2k17 has stated multiple times, the reason why clarke went to niylah is because the two people that she usually goes to for comfort (bellamy/abby) weren’t on her side at the moment. also, it’s canon that niylah isn’t looking for a relationship, and the writer miranda kwok has called the relationship “a friendship” twice already. clarke and niylah are friends with benefits. stop acting like wlw are romantically interested in every woman with whom they have had sex.

b) it rubs me in the wrong way that people are taking bob’s words at a con so literally since bob is the only cast member that has never spoiled anything. he states his personal opinion, which doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with canon. people are constantly like: “bob said this so it can’t happen!!!!!” and honestly, that’s bullshit. actors have very minimal influence on what happens with their character…

c) apparently editing scenes to make them less “romantic”. yes, they did this in season 1, but most likely because they wanted bellamy and clarke’s relationship to be a slow burn. grounds? they have kept developing the relationship in a way that frequently parallels canon romantic pairings on the show (finn/clarke, le.xa/clarke, kane/abby, murphy/emori, octavia/lincoln).

now, people are saying (based on a pair of tweets, mind you) that they have done it again because “bob said so!!!”. we don’t know what the scene was like before it was apparently edited, and still people are acting like this is suddenly a testament to why the writers are keeping bellamy and clarke platonic. in my opinion, it’s ridiculous.

d) has everyone forgotten that this season - even though it’s mostly focused on bellamy and clarke’s seperate character arcs - has repeatedly shown how much bellamy and clarke love each other? this season, it’s canon that they will not live without one another (”if i’m on that list, you’re on that list” - the list was destroyed shortly after that, so the only purpose of making it was to show the fact that bellamy and clarke ~the platonic couple™~ will not live without one another). it’s canon that clarke thinks bellamy is special, which is a word that has only been used on this show in a romantic context. this season, it’s canon that bellamy will never let anything happen to clarke. it’s canon that clarke would let her mother die to save the human race, but not bellamy.

e) this ship has always been a slow burn. nothing has changed. they’re still developing the relationship, and y’all need to understand that it won’t make sense in canon unless bellamy and clarke are ready to love again. this is not new information, peeps. please chill tf out and stop spreading your pessimism all over the tag before you know everything.

it’s really getting on my nerves.

(1/10) Hey, I've been thinking about something in regards to Yurio's character development and stuff that got cut from the story, and I want to know what you think, so I'm just going to anon spam you for a minute, if you don't mind? I'm sorry if it actually bugs you! I'm also sorry if I was actually over-thinking it. I just wanted someone else's thoughts on this because it wouldn't leave me alone.

(2/10) Okay, so Kubo said Yurio was the first character they created but he couldn’t pull the plot because his story is too tragic, and with the time constraints, they decided to just focus on the love around him that helps him grow. At first I thought, “Okay, that’s just part of the creative process, stuff can absolutely change before the final product comes out.” Then I realized they left too many hints of this backstory in and it causes a problem.(3/10) We know his family is poor due to the state of his grandpa’s truck (I believe someone on Tumblr pointed out it’s so old, you never see those models in Russia anymore) and the fact Yurio has been the sole provider of his family since his rookie days (via official bio). We know his parents aren’t heavily involved in his life because of the flashback in episode 2 or 3, his grandfather being the only family we actually see, and the only relative he thinks about during his Agape struggles.(4/10) Surely if he had a good relationship with his parents (or, if they were loving but are dead/gone and he missed them), then he would think of them more, right? And if he’s the sole provider of his family, then that means if they are around, they’re not working for whatever reason. Now THIS is the part that gets me, him being the sole provider of the family.(5/10) If they had left the “sole provider” bit out, we could assume Yurio either has a poor or stuck-in-the-past grandpa that he’s closer to than his parents because they’re not around much. Not all parents are that close to their children for one reason or another, or really get their children’s interests (Yuuri family is supportive of him, but it’s canon they don’t understand figure skating either). He wouldn’t think of them because they aren’t on the same page.(6/10) But the “sole provider since his rookie days” bit adds a whole ‘nother layer to his character. It tells us straight up he comes from a poor family where his parents either can’t or won’t work, his grandfather definitely doesn’t work because surely he would help out (his child and) grandchild if he could in that situation, and gives a new reason for his bad attitude and why he skates. Remember how Otabek said 10y/o Yurio had the eyes of a soldier? (7/10) Without this context we can just rub it off as a normal determination to win and Otabek’s love of war analogies. But with it, it gives us more insight. He probably had those soldier eyes and threw himself into skating hard without complaint until he made a name for himself because that’s the only way he knew to keep his family afloat. He needs to get to the top not just for himself but for his family’s financial stability. He’s such a brat partially because of the weight on his shoulders. (8/10) Unless you want to tell me he’s been washing dishes in a restaurant in his free time since he was 10 or so, I don’t see any other way he could be providing for his family. Anyway, if this had been fully incorporated into the story, I believe the way Yurio built new relationships and learned to rely on others would have been more impactful. (9/10) He’s basically been alone and worked hard for the sake of something that shouldn’t have been his responsibility in the first place, now he’s learning to open up more, to let agape in. The contrast between himself at the beginning and the end would have been more insightful. I can get why they would decide against this, though. There simply wasn’t enough time for it.(10/10) Leaving it at Yurio being a brat who might not have the best relationship with his parents, and simply wants to win and prove himself is fine. I think they tried to keep on this route by establishing that pre-Yuuri, he never took practice seriously. But by leaving the “sole provider” bit in his bio, it stays a part of his final character design, and it feels like a crucial part of him was left unexplored.

That’s a very good and interesting point you bring up anon! I never addressed that part of the official bio (also, correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought it said ‘main’ provider, not ‘sole’ provider, which carries a different weight) in my Yurio narrative breakdown though because…it never came up in the actual show.

And it’s a shame, because like you said it would give an extra dimension to Yurio’s character and his motivations. It also adds nicely to the Victor parallel. We really don’t know a lot about Yurio’s family situation, but what we do know is very telling. His mother wasn’t/isn’t around. Apart from that reference Yurio never thinks of his parents. his grandfather is the only person he associates with unconditional love (and the only person who we see emotionally supporting Yurio in his skating). The only person Yurio was concerned about finding out he was in Japan was Yakov. Lilia tells him to pack his things, makes absolutely no mention of notifying his parents about coming to live with her.

So yeah, Yurio’s family situation is not great. But it’s one thing to have that, and it’s another to have Yurio shoulder the responsibility of being the main provider for his family. Note I’m using main provider here, because sole provider really doesn’t fit with the way Yurio acts in the series. That’s a much bigger responsibility and pressure on his shoulders. If his family was depending solely on his skating to survive, Yurio wouldn’t slack off his training the way he does before feeling challenged by Yuuri. You can’t have both, “he had the eyes of a soldier because he was fighting for his family’s survival” and “I don’t have time to focus on training I’m on my phone what family?” at the same time, it doesn’t make for a consistent character.

You’re right though, that if this had been fully incorporated and acknowledged in the story, Yurio’s agape narrative would be much more impactful and it would just add more depth and complexity to his character overall. It’s a shame they didn’t explore it. It would have been so easy to do that too. Just have Yurio think about it. I mean, Yurio already thinks a lot about his motivations to win in the show, it wouldn’t be hard to add that he was thinking about providing for his family too. As it stands, I can’t even fully acknowledge that detail as canon, part of the official bio or not, because it’s something that goes against the way Yurio is currently written a lot of times.

He’s still a great character, and his current background works but yeah, wish they could have kept that detail in.

How do you interpret Sherlock's feelings for Irene, if not romantic or sexual? Why does he keep her phone (or watch in Victorian MP, both of which fandom have taken to symbolise his 'heart')? Why did he rescue her after she screwed him over? Why is she constantly referenced or appearing naked in his MP? Don't worry, I'm not an Adlocker, I'm just trying to figure these things out myself and get frustrated. :-/

Hello- once again, sorry for the delay in answering this! I have a lot of feelings about this, haha ;)

Okay, so I’ll be repeating what many others have said in this, but I agree that Irene is Sherlock’s mirror, through and through. I think this still stands in ACD’s A Scandal in Bohemia, too- Irene is disguised as a man when she says “Goodnight, Mr Sherlock Holmes,” and Sherlock Holmes frequently disguises himself in canon.

They take this mirroring to the next level in Sherlock, though. On a visual level, Irene and Sherlock are strikingly alike: dark hair, pale skin, similar build. And, to really hammer home that point, Irene even wears Sherlock’s coat.

Furthermore, Irene represents Sherlock’s sexuality, what he has repressed. That’s why he is so fascinated by her- Irene is essentially the ‘Consulting Detective’ of Sex- she “deduces” people’s preferences: “I know what he likes.”

That’s why she pops up naked inside his mind palace, but Sherlock isn’t ready to face his sexuality yet: “Not now, I’m busy!”

And, it’s so telling that when Sherlock meets Irene, he is just faced with question marks- he can’t figure her out. He can’t figure himself out. And, that is only properly addressed in The Abominable Bride, where Sherlock is solving the mystery/case of his own heart: “I shall have to go deep into myself.”/”Why do you need to be alone?”

And, I think Sherlock partly saves Irene… because he sees himself in her. Irene “loses” to sentiment, she falls in love (as Sherlock does)- and, that whole scene where Sherlock seemingly defeats her is just so heart-breaking if you read it as Sherlock also talking to himself: “Sentiment is a chemical defect found in the losing side. […] You just couldn’t resist it, could you?”

I also really wouldn’t worry about Irene’s picture being in Sherlock’s pocket-watch. @ramblings-from-yours-truly has pointed out that visually parallels Holmes’s picture of Gabrielle in the opening to The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes- and we know that film presents a gay Sherlock. I think the fact that Sherlock keeps Irene’s phone/picture acts as a way to incite us to think, to challenge (heteronormative) convention. Why are we automatically assuming that Sherlock/Holmes keeping Irene/Gabrielle’s picture= romantic and/or sexual attraction? Because Sherlock/Holmes is a man, and Irene/Gabrielle is a woman?

I understand that it’s very easy to come to that conclusion, as it’s a pattern in fiction that’s been told so many times, and we’ve been trained to follow it, in a sense. A suave, enigmatic man carries around some sort of object that is symbolic of a Woman…. all very James Bond.

But, the thing is, Sherlock works at breaking down the audience’s assumptions, forcing us to re-assess clichés and our often prejudiced heteronormative ‘instincts’ about where the story is going. We are shown that the James Bond like version of Sherlock is a fiction with the Hollywood-kiss with Molly being a fantasy, and John saying does not believe the “brain without a heart” version of Sherlock he presents to the public.

So,  Sherlock keeping Irene’s phone/ her picture in his watch, does symbolize his heart, I think… in the sense that Irene= Sherlock himself/Sherlock’s sexuality. Plus, @57punches and I also discussed here the implications of a gay 19th century Sherlock keeping a woman’s picture in his pocket-watch= Sherlock disguising his heart’s desires in order to protect them…

Thanks for the question! <3

Sorry to bother, I'm looking for some help, if you don't mind. I feel- and have for a long time- like I've hit a wall, artistically, and I'm not sure what to do. I'm trying to figure out how to overcome it, and don't really know where to go with it. I feel like my art is just not going anywhere, and I get frustrated. Like I'm making a mess more than a creation? a product? Idk. It just feels like the lines don't make sense anymore. Again, sorry to bother, but I really admire your stuff and skill

it’s no bother !!

First off, I suggest reading my post on art direction: [http://helpfulharrie.tumblr.com/post/120523296471/]

Then, think about what sort of art you want to create! That post should help with this, have a look at the work your favourite artists make and list the stuff you like the most about their art.

Is it their lines? The colour? Texture? etc, once you have a list of things you like you’ll have an idea of what you want your art to look like!

If you’re worried about your art looking like other people’s, don’t be. Emulation is an important method of learning for a start, thats why people do redraws and master studies!

But also more importantly, by studying the things you like you’ll find your artistic voice, it’s hidden in pieces amongst all the art you like. When you piece it together, you’ll draw stuff that’s truly your own ♡

That all said, if you’re struggling with making your lines make sense, it’s probably due to a lack of clarity!

As in, you’re not quite sure what you want to draw, so you end up with a lot of lines which aren’t quite what you want.

Part of this is due to lack of practice, so here are some exercises that can help with line accuracy:

Try drawing some dots and connecting point A to point B in a single stroke while touching all the points. This helps teach you to visualise your strokes!

Being able to draw parallel lines equal distances apart is also good for control

And, practice drawing circles clockwise and counterclockwise, going round once! This takes a lot of practice lmao, if you’re particularly struggling put down a blob as a guideline first

Do a couple of these exercises as a warmup before you start drawing, and you’ll start to get the hang of them.

But also for me personally, i think in terms of shapes and silhouettes, and the lines I draw are wrapped around them. It’s less about the line, and more about the shape (which is why I often block things in and just show the shape!)

When I dont think of a shape clearly, I end up with very messy lines!

but if I spend some time thinking about the shape I’m after,

I can draw lines with more purpose!

I’d suggest doing some studies with [http://artists.pixelovely.com]!

Try blocking in solid shapes over the reference images, and drawing lines based on that

and when you feel confident about seeing the shapes, try drawing straight from the photos! Remember to focus on the big shapes before the details.

This should hopefully help with training your eye to find those edges so you can draw the lines you want.

And the most important advice I can give you anon is not to worry too much, being unsatisfied w/ your work means you have the capacity to improve for a start! that’s a good thing!

You learn something new with every piece, I’m sure if you look at your older work you’ll see things you’d do differently now that you know more.

I’m wishing you the best of luck anon, it’s really tough when you’re not sure what to do with your art but I promise you’ll get through it ♡

I do hope this helps. If you need any more help, don’t hesitate to send me another ask!

Hey simlicious :D. I'm trying to convert some SL stuff for sims 3. I need to re map SL objects, cause they have many textures and the uv map is a mess, all the textures are overlapped. I know it is possible with Blender but I don't know which tools I can use, so if you can help me will be great, thanks in advance ^^

Hello! I suspect that there are a lot of people out there wondering how this works. I am toying with the idea of making some video tutorials for blender, but I’d have to find time for that first, but I think it would help a lot!

Let’s see what I can gather right now.

Learn the basics.
I don’t have the time right now to explain every tool in Blender (and I don’t know them all, either), there are a lot of useful shortcuts such as r for rotate, g for grabbing/moving stuff around, s for scaling, e for extruding and these can be used in conjunction with the axes (x,y,z), so you can type rx to rotate something on the x-axis, or you can make it even more precise by typing rx180 - that would move the mesh piece you have selected by 180 degrees on the x-axis.
There is a search function for the different tools, if you hit the spacebar it opens up. You can type in anything and it will look for it and you can click/use the tool directly.

Getting familiar with zooming, panning/moving around in the 3d space and learning basic shortcuts by heart is the first step.

I recommend checking out the merge tools, the snap to cursor/snap cursor to selection tools, the remove doubles and edge split tools.
As for modifiers, check out the mirror modifier, the decimate modifier and the solidify modifier, these are the ones I regularly use to mesh.

There are some really great blender tutorials from Neil Hirsig (just google him) that explain certain tools in detail. They are really helpful and they are in a chronological order, too so you start with easy stuff and go on to harder stuff. I highly recommend those video tutorials! He has his own website, but his videos are also on vimeo. Definitely check out the two videos on unwrapping a mesh, they are really insightful :)

Now some short tips (I copied them out of many messages that I have sent, saves a lot of time instead of typing everything anew, sorry for any typos):

Setting up blender for Sims 3 meshing:

Make sure you setup the workspace so that you have the meshing window and the uv/image editor both visible. I don’t have the pm anymore where I explained this in detail, I might cover this in another tutorial, but there is atutorial by Cmomoney at MTS explaining how to change the viewports like that, too (“setting up blender” or something like that). You don’t need to do all the steps in the tutorial by Cmomoney, mainly the steps where you will get the two parallel windows with 3d viewport and uvmap. The others aren’t necessary and some tips are obsolete.

Remapping Parts in Blender:

In blender, you can select those polys that you want mapped separately, then press u und choose “unwrap”. the unwrapping function uses seams to determine how to unwrap. You can add manual seams for the uv-map with the “mark seam” options in the toolbar on the left (creating regular seams in the mesh works as well, just select the edges you want to split apart and press spacebar and type in “edge split”). With the edge select tool, select the edges you want and then press “mark seam”. If you want to delete a seam, use “clear seam.” The seam-tool won’t create a seam in the mesh itself, it just adds a “guide” for the unwrapping tool. To determine where the vertex- seams of a mesh are located,  just select one or more vertices from your mesh area in the 3d-viewport and press ctrl+L. This selects all linked faces. That comes in really handy for all sorts of things :) Once you have unwrapped a part, you can scale, rotate and change the position on the uvmap pretty easily using the same commands you use for the 3d-viewport (except there’s no z-dimension)

Untangling UVmaps in Blender:

In blender, you can select the uv areas pretty easily in the following way: right click on the mesh area directly on the mesh you want so select and select one vertex with a right-click (or select more, if you want to grab more uv areas at once. Selecting one vertex is to make sure you don’t grab more areas accidentally). With one or more vertices selected, press strg+L. this selects the entire mesh area. This will also select the corresponding piece of the uvmap. Now just move your mouse cursor into the uvmap window and press g to grab that uvmap piece and move it out of the way :) There is also a sync mode that lets you only see and edit the uvmap of the mesh piece that you have currently selected. It is a small button in the toolbar of the uvmap window, next to where you can change the selection methods. It’s called “Keep UV and edit mode selection in Sync”. Sometimes this helps as well :) Happy untangling!

Using the Decimate Modifier to reduce Polycounts

Especiall mesh conversions often have high polycounts and need to be reduced. As to how much, it is best to load a similar EA mesh and check their polycounts. Remember, if you check the polycount in TSR Workshop, divide the Polygon count by 3! For some reason, it shows triple the amount of the actual polys (vertex count is normal, though).
There is a modifier function called “decimate” that reduces polys. The modifiers are represented by that wrench symbol on the tabs to the right. Just click on it and choose “add modifier”, then click on “decimate”. You’ll get a new set of tools specifically for the decimate function. Simply drag/change the “ratio” bar to the left. It shows a percentage of the polycount below. The more you drag the slider to the left, the fewer polys your object will have. You can only see it’s work in object mode. Below the ratio is also a polycount so you can see how much polys the object would have. If you’re satisfied, just hit “apply” and the changes will be permanent. You can also leave it un-applied to be able to make changes; then it will be applied when you export the object. BTW, the modifiers “solidify” and “miror” are modifiers I love to use as well. “Solidify” creates backfaces automatically for you and mirror mirrors the mesh and/or uv coordinates.

Baking textures and using images as a reference for mapping

In the scene tab (the little icon with the camera underneath the tree structure where all meshes are shown), there is a “bake” button. Chose “ambient occlusion” and hit “bake”. If there is an error “no images found to bake to”, try loading a new texture: Go to the uvmap editor, hit the image button, chose new, type in the texture size and hit ok. This gives you a completely black texture (good for baking). For reference purposes, you can also chose to get a checkered map (change the generated type from blank to uv grid) before hitting the ok button). With that, the baking process should work (highlight the mesh just in case). If it still doesn’t work, you can try to save the texture first (in the uv editor, chose image ->save as image). Sometimes, it won’t bake at all, then exporting the mesh, closing the program and importing it back again helps sometimes, but I hope you won’t have those troubles :) The blender tools by cmomoney at MTS have a baking function as well, you might check that out, too. The image function is pretty nifty by itself as well. As said, you can use the checkered uvmap for reference purposes and even load your own textures (for example, the multiplier, like you do in milkshape). The cool thing is, you can easily switch between loaded textures with one click without importing allover again. To do that, click on the longish button that displays the name of your texture in the uvmap editor and you get a list of textures (if you first added them, of course). To make sure the textures are displayed on the mesh, chose “textured” instead of shaded in the 3d viewport and make sure that in the panel that pops up if you hit “N” in the 3d viewport, the shading method (look for the display menu) is “multitexture”. BTW, there is also a function called “backface culling” there. With that enabled, the backfaces will be transparent and you can more easily see where you might need to turn or add backfaces.

aw anon you’re cool, i don’t think that’s a silly question (honestly i feel you a Ton on that last bit….. that exact character type is a huge weakness of mine too)

i started writing a response last night and i’ve been mulling it over some more today (this happens to be a subject i’ve been thinking a Lot about lately, haha). i’ve got both a short and a longer answer, i think. the short being: nah, you’re good imo, with maybe some ssslight quibbles wrt “innate”. and even discounting quibbles i’d say that falls within the Valid Interp ballpark. partly because….

longer answer: … even folks who are inclined towards softness, towards wanting to do right by everyone? they can mess up. they can mess up big. whether along the logical extremes of their Good traits (hello there Upsetting Predilection Towards Concession And Self-Sacrifice) or by failing them entirely. and if undertale isn’t a story that’s shaped by “essentially good people being Kinda Shit ” i don’t know what it is

So. That’s a Tarot number.

That’s the tarot number. Kaneki’s tarot number. 12. The Hanged Man. I’ve screencapped more than just Mutsuki’s eyes there because really, the rest of the dialogue on the page is explanation enough for what the tarot means here.

The hanged man, upright, is about resignation and letting go. It alludes, depending on the deck and the scholar, to Odin, suffering to gain wisdom, or Judus, hanging in atonement. It is about suffering or sacrificing in order to gain something. Judgement, epiphany, forgiveness, wisdom. The hanged man references someone who has voluntarily tied themselves or let themselves be tied up there for a reason, and it implies someone meant to or meaning to use this sacrifice, suffering, or suspension for something.

The tarot here is on Mutsuki’s eyes, which for the first time since the Quinx surgery are without a kakugan. If the ever present Kakugan was a symbol of something violent Mutsuki refused to see, or some truth Mutsuki insisted on hiding or hiding from, than it vanishing symbolizes realization or acceptance.

From a Jungain psychology perspective, the Hanged Man marks the start of a journey into the deeper self and the subconscious, a forced or voluntary abandoning of the tight reins of the ego and a surrender to the wildness of the subconscious - a necessary step in the process of true self understanding. As one Jungian psychologist puts it - “self-excavation.”

It is also, unquestionably, a parallel to Kaneki’s acceptance of himself as a ghoul after Yamori’s torture.

Neither are/were “okay.” But the body given to them - forced on them - by mad science - Kanou or the CCG - saved them. Torture left them with new truths about themselves and their past - about how they defined themselves. And left them “hanging.” Left them with a choice.

Kaneki comes out of Yamori’s chains a cold, more violent, broken, vengeful and suicidal person. His realization’s are that he is a ghoul, but also that he has to fight, to pluck, and protect.

Despite all of Tooru’s negative self talk following regaining his memory, I actually think that his acknowledgement to Akira that he is not okay, and his willingness to admit to himself how he feels is a step above where Kaneki was after his own torture. Because it took Kaneki years to realize.

And still, I think, Kaneki has a strained relationship with the violence he’s done and his capacity for it.

Tooru is in a precarious position now, hanging like that. But it is also potentially the start of a journey of true self realization and understanding.

One Kaneki, Mutsuki’s parallel here, keeps stumbling on and restarting. Kaneki has been the Hanged Man for years.

Hopefully Mutsuki’s ability to self reflect will give him a chance to move past it more successfully and to make better decisions for himself than his erstwhile mentor.
