Yuri on Ice interview translation - Animage 2017/01 (p20-23)

I was going to post this last week but gave priority to the BD stuff. This will be the final interview from the booklet that came with January Animage! There’s still an interview with Kenji Miyamoto left untranslated, but it will be taken care of by @whiteboxgems whenever she has time! I’ll reblog it when it’s around.

This is actually 2 interviews, I’m posting them together because they were one after the other and (main reason) because the second one is very short.
A few notes below to better understand the interviews.

The first one is with Yuuichirou Hayashi, the one who created the ending (ED = ending by the way) footage. I have the feeling someone previously posted translations of the captions under the ED screenshots, but I don’t remember where and I’m pretty sure it was just the captions and not the interview parts, so here you have it complete. This one is pretty interesting because he explains in detail how they created the ED, and has some extra information on cut scenes etc. Definitely a must read in my opinion!

The second one is a short interview with Kayoko Ishikawa, the one who did the costume designs. Here you might think: didn’t Chacott design the costumes? I’ll explain. It’s more or less like with Mitsurou Kubo and Tadashi Hiramatsu: Kubo created the original designs for the characters, from scratch, and Hiramatsu transformed them into designs specifically created for animation, therefore with simpler lines, detailed expression sheets and so on. Likewise, Chacott did the original designs for the costumes, from scratch, based on the indications by Yamamoto and Kubo, and then the anime’s costume designer simplified and modified them so that they would be suitable to be animated. (Before actually animating them there’s a further step: the anime’s color designer is going to decide the exact colors, shadows and highlights included, that will be used inside the anime. I translated an interview with the color designer Izumi Hirose some time ago)

I usually don’t add pictures but this time I felt that it would be better to add them as an immediate reference. However, they are just for reference and are not meant to be visually stunning, so please bear with the quality because I just took photos of the magazine with my phone and quickly edited them.

Translation under the cut! (kind of image-heavy)

Netflix's Death Note

Okay let’s get some shit down for everyone who watched the anime and those who don’t know why the adaptation was so bad.

Just to be clear beforehand, I do realize this is somewhat harsh and that the original series is much too amazingly complex to shove into one movie and that directing something like this is difficult and stuff would but cut anyways but then again that all goes to an extent.

Immediately from the beginning of this show, our first glimpse of this “edgy”, “misunderstood” teenager with eventually shown mommy issues is just already so off. If they were going to dye his hair, why not make it a little more candid and cover those ugly ass blonde highlights with the actual brown color? The first scene where we witness the horrible corruption of Light’s character is when he attempts to stand up to Kenny..If netflix attempted to even showcase Light’s actual character, they would know that the real Light was completely confident, smart, and a literal genius. He always knew what would happen and wouldn’t be stupid enough to get himself into a situation like that or at least get out of it. The whole point of Light Yagami wasn’t his fear over the death note’s power or Ryuk. Being that crazy genius was what made him the only person capable of using the Death Note without losing his shit completely. Netflix completely destroyed Light’s character and the notion of evil behind it.

Secondly, Ryuk!!!! Just another butcher case.
What happened to the sometimes funny and joking to the sometimes objective and cold character?
Ryuk was supposed to be a shadow mostly, his point was to only watch how Light transformed the world with the Death Note for his own entertainment. He never threatened Light to make him murder. He never chose his victims. And most importantly there was never any extra rules written in the death note that magically were always appropriate for the next problematic scene. They only diminished Ryuk’s character to a scary death god used to further push along the story and add to the obvious gore intended theme.

Next, Misa Misa. I absolutely loved her in the anime. I was shocked to see her as some emo, obviously-hangs-with-the-wrong-crowd cheerleader. Misa’s character was meant to be a girl who idolizes Kira and is completely in love with Light. She would never be so crazily stupid as to write his name in the death note in order to take it from him. Her relationship with the death note was never supposed to be as important as deciding who would die. She only ever followed Light’s demands and he was the one who made these decisions. She was never supposed to kill the detectives because that was a scene in which amplified Light’s wits and HIS ability to easily overcome obstacles thrown by L. As well as that, the love she and Light had wasn’t real. Their “love” was supposed to showcase Light’s character in terms that he had become cold and merciless to even his own family due to his priority of accomplishing his main goal of cleansing the world, no matter what. On the other hand, I understand this is a hollywood movie and couldn’t go without romance but the scenes of them making out and etc were shown so awkwardly in between their killing.

To the last character, L. Most fans were either of L’s side or Light’s. “Good vs bad”. Cat vs mouse. Their whole intended relationship. And the fuzzy borders of who was who. Netflix did attempt to showcase their battle of wits..except without the wits and gave us instead an amusing little game of chasing? Oh and can someone please tell my why L wore a ninja costume basically the whole movie? Where was the classic white tshirt and jeans. Was also saddened by the missing weird voice change to hide his identity. One good thing was that L wasn’t just another white dude. But, just like everyone else they eventually took away his cool calm nature. We know that he was obsessed with Light and it is indeed portrayed to an extent but he never lost his shit. Chasing light with a gun? Chasing a highschooler with a gun? Really? I do appreciate the insomniac characteristic still being there though. Although impractical, it would have been cool to see him completely barefoot the whole time. Yet great job crushing his secretive, analytical and genius character. At least his back story is the decently accurate except for the whole part where he was trained as a kid.

Lastly, the whole fault in the actual movie production. The whitewashing, completely unnecessarily gory deaths, and lack of the morality problem. I’m not sure why they further had to make mia’s name white instead of just leaving it as Misa? What happened to Light Turner’s brother Timmy lmfao. For a second, when Turner read that page with the oh so scary warning about Ryuk, I really thought they were going to go the whole movie mispronouncing his name. They should have wasted less time on a 10 minute chasing scene or making out to further build the completely necessary relationships in Death Note! Instead they rushed the movie. It seems that the director had trouble mixing in his own concept while trying to keep it accurate to the original story. He portrays Death Note as some teenage romance story with supernatural elements. Something I did appreciate, even though it really doesn’t fit with the original, was the visuals. I appreciated the aesthetics of the neon and dark scenery. But in the end it’s much too deep to condense into this movie without rushing it and leaving the audience confused.

To conclude this, RIP the chip scene and Light’s famous maniacal laugh.

Ensemble Stars Superpower AU

-I actually made this list just for fun, not wanting people to take it very seriously. If you want to take some ideas of it for your work (fanart/fanfic), you don’t need to tag me or anything (only if you want, of course), I’ll just be so happy if you would send me a link of it, but you don’t really need to. It only will make my day happier~

-If you don’t like something about and you want to change it for your work, I don’t really care, feel free to do whatever you want~

-If any of this superpowers resembles too much of any power of an official work, you don’t need to tell me, I actually was pointed out when making it and I also looked it up to see from where it can be also from. As I said, you can ALWAYS change it at your will.

-It was originally made to be a bnha AU, but I changed it to make the options wider and have more freedom about the universe. But you can change that.

A little about the universe:

-The original units of the game here are separated as training groups.

-The idols in the game are in this universe in the superpower course. It’s divided into two sub courses, the fighting course and the social help course. Some people go on both, and some just go to one of them, depending on their power. The special corp. course only learns to fight and improve their powers on battle. They normally turn into superheroes or work in the military. The social help course uses their power on normal jobs to help people. They normally turn into detectives, doctors, firefighters etc.

Electric Manipulation: He’s not very strong, but he can use it good in battles. He also pranks people by burning down lamps and shutting down electronics.

Light Materialization: This power can turn strong light beams into fine glass-like shards and sticks, which he normally fights using it like a sword, throwing knives or shield. People do confuse it with Ice Manipulation, since it looks very similar and his family is specialized with Ice. Since its weakness is darkness he teams up with Subaru quite a lot.

Time Traveler: He can travel for a short time back in the past. The maximum he did was going back to one week, but everything changed so drastically that he swore to himself to never going back more than 3 days.

Technological Manipulation: He can manipulate any sorta of digital objects that he has his hands on. It’s more of an Electric power but he can’t lash out like Subaru does, since it’s made for very precise work. He uses it more for investigation, but he’s working to use it in battle.

Mental Manipulation: It’s much like a hypnosis, but stronger, he can manipulate someone actions and speech entirely by a simple touch on the forehead for a good time being. He also can read someone’s mind when using it, but he prefers to use it for good causes. Nowadays he only uses it when Koga goes into rampage modus in his wolf form.

Wolf Transformation: He transforms his body into a wolf creature. It’s very large and powerful, but if Koga is very enraged in this form, he can go into rampage modus, attacking everything, not caring if it’s a enemy or friend. Rei helps him to calm down.

Sand Manipulation: He attacks with loads of sands, forming into different forms. When he entered Yumenosaki he could only form scary monsters and animals, which people distanced a little from fear. Right now, he’s learning to also make cute forms and help people.  He also when his heart beats too fast from something suddenly, he can break the nearest glass into pieces.

Human Senses Manipulation: He can take out people’s sense but while doing it, he also needs to give up on one of his. People were scared before from him, since there was a rumor that you would lose that sense forever, but it was a huge lie.

Psionic: A very wide mental power, it has a bit of every mental power possible. Eichi developed this power very, very young. It’s absurdly strong, so strong that his body can’t follow it. He normally never uses it since its power is uncontrollable and he can destroy himself using it too hard. He promised to himself that when the time comes he will lash out the power and won’t look back. In a group battle challenge he already almost died.

Body Shifter (human): His power is limited to only humans that he knows the appearance. But he can imitate their exact voice, quirk and also personality.

Hypnotic Object Summoner: He can summon a wished object of the victim as a trap. If the victim falls on it (which is normally the case), they fall into a hypnosis state. Since he doesn’t like to fight at all, Yuzuru does the rest of the dirty work.

Shadow Manipulation: He can only manipulate his own shadow, but also can stretch it and make it into a physical 3D form. The range depends on how much light is falling, making it 50m long in the normal sunlight. The shadow can’t be touched or hurt, but it can actually touch and grab stuff, making it very strong, but it can be lost if it’s in contact with another shadow.

Sound waves Amplifier: He uses it to make sound waves of notes so strong that it can attack someone; the notes interfere on how the attack will be (higher notes are more precise and cutting thin attacks; deeper notes are more imprecise and 360° ranged). Normally people do confuse it with Air Manipulation. He also uses outside battle and practice to help with inspiration on his songs even when his group members forbid him since he normally destroys stuff when doing it.

Weather Manipulation: A very difficult power to use freely, but they master it perfectly. It also can’t be used all time since it can bring nature into chaos, which is a good excuse for them not to train in school.

Ice Manipulation: A charming power, he uses it mostly to make cool shapes in battle. He’s powerful, but he makes his mistakes when nervous.  He also projects random ice thorns on his body when startled or when he sneezes.

Telekinesis: Very common power on his lineage, but he still needs to learn a lot. He can at maximum lift cars. It’s also very tiring so he doesn’t use that often outside battle and practices.

Dream Wanderer: A Very strong power, but not very effective in battle. He normally uses it to discover people’s subconscious and make his strategies. He also needs to be asleep when using it but the victim doesn’t need it. He also only attends the sub course of Social Help.

Neon Manipulation: He manipulates the gas neon, he can store it on his body and shoot strong lasers.

Plasma Manipulation: Likely his brother, but their resource is different. He also prefers to shoot discs than lasers and can make a force field, but it still needs improvement.

Puppetering: He can control any power of another person that he laces his strings on. The only weakness is that he can’t control the victim’s power if the person doesn’t have the mental consensual. He also is in control of Mika’s power most of the time, so he can’t use his power in its full form, but in a very small fracture of it.

Magic Eye: His Power comes from his eye and it’s so strong and unstable, that Shu needs to control it with his Puppetering Power.  They’re working on Mika to finally control it alone, but he feels too attached to Shu, so he deep down doesn’t want to improve and is afraid of Shu leaving him.

Fire Manipulation: A powerful young man, who in the past was very scared of using his powers because he could burn people very easily. He learned a lot over the years and now pretty much controls it perfectly.

Plant Manipulation: He can use his power to make plants grow and move at his will. He’s still learning a lot since a lot of plants demand positive energy to control, and he pretty much lacks on it.

Waterkinesis: Very, very powerful mysterious young man. Rumors say that he can even lift the whole ocean if he wanted. But he normally uses his power to play on the school’s fountain.

Smoke Shifter: He can turn his body and everything he’s holding into smoke, making him an excellent young fighter. But he also turns into his smoke form unconsciously when startled or sad.

Super Strength: He is very new to his power, since he bloomed very late. He looks up to Kuro who helps him to master it since their powers are similar.

Magic Archery: With a bow, he projects powerful light arrows on his fouls. He also has a very precise aim.  He normally doesn’t fight, since it’s still a very slow art of fighting.

Corporal Boost: He can boost the speed and power of his arms and legs to give very powerful punches and kicks. But since he’s very pacific, he normally doesn’t use it to attack anyone. He also teaches Tetora to make him stronger.

Liquidify Metal Power: He can turn any metal into liquid and make it back to solid at will. He also can manipulate and shape it very easily, almost making it a Metal Manipulation Power. He knows that people could use his power for bad things so he learned to have a very strong mind against any mental manipulations.

Body Shifter (Weapon): He can turn his body parts into any kind of weapon (mostly made by metal). His favorite weapons are long ranged machinery. He’s extremely talented, so he doesn’t train with a group but actually helps groups to train.

Super Jump: Very talented and hard working, he turned miserable very long jumps into too-fast-for-the-human-eye super jumps. Mitsuru says that even him can’t follow Nazuna sometimes.

Healing: It’s a very good power but he’s still very young. He can heal Medium-sized wounds, but he still struggles with sicknesses and large wounds. He needs days to complete it. He also is only in the Social Help course.

Animal Whisperer: He can talk with any kind of animal and he’s very good on that. Since it’s not a battling power, he pretty much only stays in the Social Help course.

Super Speed: He can run in a super fast speed, but he is still learning, so he can’t keep up with Nazuna’s super jumps. He also is very careless, making him trip over things while running.

Divination: He was a pretty talented boy, but on the second year Eichi had a small incident and Tsumugi was mentally affected. He can’t use his powers since then, but Natsume helps on that by stealing his blocked powers.

Soul Reader: He can read people souls and know exactly their weakness. He has a little problem by reading very strong power users, he describes as seeing the person having fog around them all the time. But only Natsume knows about this.

Power Stealing: He can steal any power he wants, only by a simple touch, but he can maximum use it for a minute. He pretty much uses Tsumugi power to know the things since Tsumugi has a block. He also respects Eichi’s deadly power and he swore to himself to never steal his power and possibly die.

I’ll be adding separate characters sheets for everyone if it gets popular or you can always send me a request for one character sheet and I’ll do it as soon as possible.

Maybe I’ll change the post in the future.

Welcome to the TF club, can you do the Autobots of any community of your choosing having a female preteen Elemental friend (can control Earth fire water air ice metal lightening darkness shadow light and energy) thank u and good luck on your blog

First request! I really dunno how’s that turned out, I hope it’s ok.

So, I googled preteen, cause I wasn’t sure what age exactly it is…
Turns out, it’s kid under age 13, especially one between the ages of 9 and 12, so, reader somewhere near those ages.

I hope this is ok that I did two of MTMTE and two of TFP?

  • This boy is AMAZED
  • He talks about your powers with everyone on ship
  • He thinks you are The Coolest Kid In Universe
  • He shows you his flames and you show him something cool in exchange
  • After this, he is The Big Brother, who always competes with younger sister, even if with your abilities you can win any challenge
  • But also he LOVES when you show him more of your powers
  • “Hey, can you use this air thing with those datapads Mags carrying?” or “Hey, what about you turn lights off when Swerve’s having his horror movies night?”
  • If you endanger yourself with your powers one time, he’ll shrug it off and thinks that this was just a mistake, you are ok now, everything is fine, right?
  • If it happens one more time, he’ll start to worry. Maybe you are not as good with controlling your powers as he thinks? After all, you are only a kid… Almost a teen, yes, but still a kid.
  • One more time and he will agree (!) with Magnus, that maybe you should be REALLY careful with that kind of abilities. Take it slow and learn how to use them first? Maybe some training with Drift? Self-control and all that stuff?
  • No matter how good you are with powers, he is secretly proud of you
  • But also worried
  • He is competitive, but caring Big Bro friend

  • Whether you are good in controlling your powers or not, prepare for “Here Comes A Thought” kind of training
  • Yep, he doesn’t know anything about your powers, but he knows something about importance of self-control in that kind of things
  • But let’s face it - he will love pranks-with-powers just as much as Roddy
  • Nope, he totally didn’t laugh when you make some stupid prank on Magnus
  • Totally
  • He laughed
  • With him, you’ll never endanger yourself
  • And you’ll learn how to be calm and use your powers for meditations
  • He’ll make sure to bring some plantings/water containers/etc. for you to practice because you can’t find much on this ship
  • Always makes sure to remind you about importance of your well-being when you use powers
  • “We don’t want you to burn yourself, right?”
  • He is caring and smart friend

  • He just got used to kids, and now there’s you
  • Miko always asks you to use your powers
  • He is not interested. Ok, maybe he is a little bit, but who knows, maybe it’s common for humans!
  • It is not..? Well, then you are a weird human.
  • He’s got so much work to do, he is a medic, after all… But, since he is a scientist too, maybe you can stop by and let him examine your powers sometimes..?
  • “Stop grinning, it is only for science matter”
  • Do not use powers near him while he is working
  • Since that’s almost always - you can use powers when he is in a good mood
  • Just try to catch these truly rare moments
  • If you can’t control all of your abilities or endanger yourself, he will make sure you are NOT using them often
  • He is so grumpy if you’ll try to use them while he forbid it
  • Just be careful, he is worried
  • Grandpa Friend, who is very strict about using powers.

  • How did you manage to become friends with him?!
  • I mean, he is good friend (sometimes, at least), but he will definitely try to use you for his own purpose
  • Will not care if you can be in danger with those strange powers
  • And then you are injured and he realizes something important
  • He can’t use you if you are dead or injured!
  • Ok, no, he actually realizes that using your abilities that much may be a bad thing to do
  • He will never tell you why he acts like a mother hen after your recovery
  • It’s just because he doesn’t want anyone else to take you from him!
  • B-because you are like a weapon, of course.
  • Still uses your powers, but carefully
  • He is bad at friendship, but he tries to be careful..?
  • Manipulative friend, who uses you a lot, and then worries a lot
Klaine Advent Drabble - “Amenities and Perks” (Rated T)

Kurt despises using the communal laundry room in the basement of his apartment building … but after meeting a charming young man (who’s not afraid to show a little skin), Kurt might just change his mind. (1899 words)

Meet cute AU. Written for the Klaine Advent Drabble prompt ‘charm’ and dedicated to my husband - he should know why ;)

Read on AO3.

Communal laundry room.

Those three words strung together make Kurt’s skin crawl.

He may be a little “high maintenance” when it comes to certain things, but he doesn’t consider himself a snob. However, there are two spaces he hates sharing (with people he doesn’t know) more than anything in the world – bathrooms and laundry rooms. Too much personal, intimate stuff happens in those two rooms, much of which surrounds underwear, so he’d rather not get too many strangers involved.

Ok, so I decided to make this it’s own post because I feel it’s really important to actual canon in wizard101 , and I know not everyone saw this because it was a response to a response on one of my own posts, so yea. I spent THREE AND A HALF HOURS writing and composing this things, so I would appreciate it if it was shared and read about, thanks!

(original post can be found here, in response to stormsharknado ‘s response to this original post)

It’s weird though, because In khrysalis (part 2 i think) we see one of the Goliath Bugs be transformed back into a regular mantis by the usage of these crystals and a machine… why couldn’t we do the same with morganthe? I know she’s the Queen of Shadow, but i think will a little more horse power or whatever we could have somehow removed all the hatred and shadow from her heart.

I do feel for Morganthe sometimes because it seems like she was under some incredible stress, or was mentally manipulated by others a lot, and that’s how she acquired this “big bad evil queen” muse; it was how she decided to cope with the stuff she went through, by delving into things she shouldn’t have at an unsafe route.

I’m not even making this stuff up like, Merle Ambrose (who probably personally trained her from a young age) said that she disappoints him, both before and after Malory’s death.

Here’s dialogue from Ghost Avalon where Morganthe was reading through books containing forbidden knowledge:

And then again before she was banished for “toying with astral magic”:

Morganthe’s entire world revolves around magic. She has a line of dialogue where she says she “can’t live without (her) magic”. She adores it, and she knows she’s good at it, but she also hates failure. Why does she hate failure? Because she doesn’t want to disappoint Ambrose.

But the weird thing is, instead of encouraging Morganthe to explore her talent with magic at a safe rate, Merle and them kinda… enclose her from it, they protect ” her from it in a way.

Now this is where it gets even weirder:
