Personally, I think a situation where Leo and Piper fall into Tartarus, and Jason's left completely alone and psychotic on the Argo with the others, while Piper and Leo get pretty much tortured (let's face it, they couldn't handle Tartarus as well as the others, just because of experience and training) in the deepest pit of hell. ((((bonus points if Piper doesn't make it out alive but Leo does))) Hope you're having a good day!
…this kinda ties in to what i think jason’s fatal flaw is bUT NO I WON’T GO THERE YET. SCREAMS AT THIS. i hope you don’t mind me publishing bECAUSE:
oh my god. jason being furious that this could happen. not saddened, furious–with himself mostly, for letting it happen at all. maybe some misplaced anger towards the others (i don’t see him being aggressive with THEM, but i can definitely imagine him getting more curt, more withdrawn, a little less outgoing–for a while, at least)
percy and annabeth both trying to snap him out of that mindset (more so percy–i think he’d see a glimpse of what he himself could’ve been like if it had been annabeth and grover in piper/leo’s places) ((imagine these two revisiting the fact they could have killed each other had it not been for piper)) (((also if there’s no piper, does that mean khione vs. percy instead??)))
and the cupid thing happening with nico/jason while piper/leo were in tartarus oh my GOD. real talk: cupid straight up told jason he was already with his “true love” when they met. look it up. it happened. imagine jason thinking, i can’t lose her. i cannot fucking lose her even before meeting cupid, but then hearing THAT, and it terrifies him. it is a very, very real thing that could happen. and cupid knows it, and this isn’t something soothing–it’s a taunt. it’s just what cupid is trying to do to nico, too, so it fits.
jason and nico not bonding over the fact nico was forced out of the closet in front of him, but instead learning to agree with one another over their shared terror of what lies down in tartarus and what could happen to leo/piper.
meanwhile leo and piper: tested above and beyond on their abilities. charmspeak and a magical toolbelt sure come in handy, but they’ve only been in the world of demigods for a year or so, and as strong as they are–and can be, let’s not deny that–they’re still so new to it. but they get far–somehow surviving the fall (?SOMEHOW. magically. with great aid from the toolbelt probably–piper charmspeaking leo into not giving in to the river’s, uh, sorrows), as far as they can, and piper still has her realization that “to fire or storm” means either leo or jason have to take out gaea, and keeping quiet about it in case she’s wrong, right until they reach their escape–because THAT is when things get close to impossible, and she won’t have another chance. (on a side note before i forget: piper sending that message to rachel. omf. aNYWAY–)
so piper tells leo it has to be your or jason, YOU need to get back to them. leo would argue that sO HARD, strain against it, fight back, tell her they need her too and refuse to go on without his best friend. but piper still has her charmspeak, and she’s been using it long enough to save her friends–this, this surely counts, too. now…sAY SHE “DIES” MAKING SURE HE GETS OUT. WHAT IF THAT’S WHY SHE DOESN’T MAKE IT OUT. IMAGINE HER SAYING THE “by the way? i love you guys.” LINE.
this is all very garbled bc i need to re-read HoH BUT. ow lili why.
also lmao if jason still gets stabbed with imperial gold after this, there would be no piper to charmspeak him into not giving up and dying in that fight. how would THAT go.
