Maybe you’ve blocked it out by now, but waaaaaay earlier in the year you signed up for a Voltron secret Santa, and ho ho ho I be your Santa haha.
I was so thankful when I read your likes/dislikes because I felt we were very much on the same page. You mentioned that you liked Klance, flower shop aus, and beach days (I’m so sorry, I wanted to sneak in a Shallura sub-plot, but I just ran out of time ugh), so I hope this ticks all your boxes haha.
I hope you have a great christmas and here’s looking forward to a better 2017.
Facts, Logic, and Canon:
Lucy’s feelings for Natsu
Fairy Tail seems to be reaching it’s climax, and as such the pairings in which Hiro Mashima is pushing for is becoming more and more obvious. Likewise, the pushback from fans who oppose these ships is becoming more and more apparent, and I am beginning to notice a disturbing trend. Discussions about pairings are becoming less and less about facts and logical interpretations of the canon material, and becoming more and more about accusing the other fanbase of acting in ways that triggers them. No more. It’s time for a return to form.
This is the cover page of chapter 416. Now, I cannot possibly cover all of Natsu and Lucy’s relationship in one post. There is simply far too much content. To make things far less time consuming for me, I will limit this post to only material since the X791-X792 timeskip. Material from the omake specials, movie, OVA, and anime, will also be largely excluded. Most of the fanservice will also be excluded. I simply cannot go through all of the material in one post.
This is from chapter 419. After Fairy Tail disbanded, the one Lucy most wanted to see was Natsu. This is not an opinion, and there is not much room for interpretation. Plain and simple, this is definitive proof that Lucy missed Natsu the most.
Lucy chased after Natsu when she found out he was leaving from his letter. Lucy did not have the same reaction to anyone else when Fairy Tail disbanded - and seeing as none of them purposely tried to avoid her when they left, it would have been far easier for her to follow them.
This is Lucy’s outburst for Natsu leaving her behind. This was in response to Natsu criticizing Gray for leaving Juvia behind.
When Lucy thought Dimaria was about to stab out her eyes, her last thought was Natsu. Interpret this how you will. Lucy may have been calling out for Natsu to save her. Or she may have been worried about what would happen to him. Or she may have simply thought of him because it gives her hope. Either way, all roads lead back to the same conclusion.
Upon waking up from the aftermath, finding Natsu was Lucy’s first priority. In fact, Lucy was in such a rush to find Natsu that she forgot she was naked.
When Lucy finally arrived at where Natsu was, she rushed to hug him. If it wasn’t obvious how much Lucy cared about Natsu by her actions and thoughts up until this point, it should be fairly obvious now. It will continue to get more obvious below.
Not to say that Lucy doesn’t care about Juvia and Gray’s conditions, but you can clearly tell that Lucy was the most worried for Natsu. This is evident in both the way she carries Natsu…
… and by the way she cradles him after Irene’s attack.
Lucy is willing to strip down and use her body heat to warm up Natsu.
Upon Natsu waking up, Lucy can be shown visibly shaking due to relief.
Lucy’s first instinct is to hug him once he wakes up. Once again, you get Lucy calling Natsu a dummy. You get Lucy saying how worried she was over Natsu. You get Lucy so caught up in the moment, she forget she’s naked.
…And this is Lucy’s reaction when he thanks her.
If everything up until this point wasn’t clear enough, this is how Lucy acts when she is drunk during the Christmas Special.
I’ve said this before, and I will say it again. If you’ve been keeping up with Fairy Tail and are not in constant denial because of personal bias, you can clearly see that Lucy has feelings for Natsu. Even with a reasonable degree of bias, you cannot deny that Lucy having feelings a higher probability than her not. It is only when you are unreasonably biased against NaLu, that you would deny this. The evidence for is overwhelming compared to the evidence against, and we are long past the the point of plausible deniability. I will stand by what I say, and what I say is that Lucy having feelings for Natsu is the simplest and most direct conclusion after having observed her various actions throughout the most current arc.
I try to not have too many problems with y/oi but honestly, responses like worrying about fictional ships and comparing them to real-life atrocities that cannot possibly exist in y/oi’s universe make me so irritated.
And it didn’t invent food, clothing, figure skating, sports, or whatever else the fandom has claimed.
It was an okay show, and I enjoyed the ride, and I took away a few characters I really liked from it, but damn does its fandom need to just… stop inserting itself where it absolutely does not belong.
Also, despite the fact that I made gifs of Yurio’s exhibition skate, I find the shirt riding up so high you can see his entire torso to be extremely tasteless manservice on the part of the animators. It’s beautifully animated skating of my favorite character from this show, I’ll take what I can get. I hope the rest of the program is a bit more tasteful but still well-animated (unlike much of the skating through the original run of the series - I know the Blu-Rays have cleaned up some of the programs and I’m glad).
But he’s a kid, and nothing in his previous characterization says that he sees himself as exuding overt sexuality the way Chris and Victor do. That sequence doesn’t serve any purpose other than to make fangirls scream about the fact that he’s basically shirtless. I like Yurio, please don’t fuck with his characterization just for manservice shots. (And yes, he’s underage and that makes this a whole other level of uncomfortable because I have zero interest in seeing an adolescent be presented primarily as a sexual object rather than a person, but the fact that I think it’s pointlessly out of character just so there can be fanservice is what primarily bothers me.)
camilla is a deep complex character who should not be reduced to mere fanservice

Written by me who have short-term memory and is really biased to QN
(PLEASE TAKE ALL OF STUFFS WRITTEN HERE WITH GRAIN OF SALT; there’s no way i could remember all stuffs exactly at it was. I would be happy if you could just ‘take the feel’)
First of all, it was awesome. I can’t really describe how overwhelming it was. If you’ve watched any of utapri live before, i just want to say that for me this is the best utapri live i’ve seen so far. If you think 5th and 4th live was awesome, this was on different level. The hall was definitely too small for a group who got #1 weekly oricon and more than 100k sales (which was made up by hundred of cinemas live viewing), but it was really well-planned. Probably the most well-planned utapri live ever.
just had to draw my one of my faves from Fanservice. The boi himself: Cole! (originally I tried drawing him with the golden honey trophy but couldn’t get it to work so I drew everyone else chibified) (also aahhhh!! he replied to drawing)
I… really like Overlord… it’s such a good show it’s all I’ve ever wanted out of an anime… I love all of the characters and it’s hard for me to pick a favorite (besides Ainz ofc) but here are some I like a lot!!
I keep seeing stuff about that homophobic thing JB said a few months back and I’d like to address a few things
1) It was not a mistranslation. The only mistranslation was “I’ll beat you”, and the actual translation isn’t any better
2) Jaebum doing fanservice doesn’t mean he supports gay rights. This one really bugs me. I’m gonna go into more detail with this since some of you guys find it so fucking hard to understand
Lets take a look at Choi Siwon. Yes, I know that Siwon has nothing to do with Jaebum and I know I said I’d stop complaining about him but he’s a good example of someone who does fanservice while also being homophobic. On stage, Siwon acts incredibly touchy and intimate with the other members (can be seen here: https://youtu.be/dMiO3PlY92s), however he still manages to be homophobic off stage. He retweeted a very homophobic article (which he deleted and “apologised” for, however the apology just seemed like he was trying ti save his image to me and many other people) allegedly said “i do not wish to acknowledge homosexuals” (there has been debate over whether this is real or not) and yelled “no” at a fanboy who said that he loved him (can be seen here: https://youtu.be/BAdCU1hbrm4)
3) Straight fans of Jaebum have no right to demonize LGBT fans and tell them that they’re overreacting. You have no right to tell us that we are “fake fans” because we are upset about him being homophobic. Straight fans of Jaebum will never be affected by his homophobic comments in the same way gay fans will be. It’s not hard to understand
4) You also can’t just say “Korea is homophobic so it’s okay” since Heechul, Jonghyun and plenty of other people are Korean and manage to not be homophobic.
Do you mind if I ask what's this anime you're talking about? Because so far from you you've blogged about I'm digging the lack of fanservice and moe face!
Hmm…. it depends on what you perceive as “the moe face” because that term is so nebulous and up to personal interpretation, unfortunately. I tend to define it as “characters looking much younger than their actual age, with typical anime style of drawing” not characters that are just as young as they’re drawn thus the designs are simply “cute” not “moe”. :v
In this case, I’m pretty sure you could enjoy:
LITTLE WITCH ACADEMIA
It’s a very lighthearted show about a school for witches, that’s sure to give u a Harry Potter childhood nostalgia ;D. It actually feels exactly like a cross between this and Ghibli movies = cute, super cool action and absolutely no fanservice. Also female protagonists because that’s …. an all-girls school. The animation is so beautiful u want to eat it and the show is very funny but can be pretty emotional at times as well!
Addition: If you love Mabel Pines - you’ll love Akko - the main character, as well!!
MOB PSYCHO 100
There’s also Mob Psycho 100 which… hmm I personally wouldn’t say qualifies as “cute” at all, unless some specific scene calls for it (mostly as a joke lmao).
Extremely good animation - seconded! It’s not only insanely fluid but also uses SUCH UNIQUE TECHNIQUES, Yes you’re gonna see full sequences made via paint on glass or charcoal, pencil etc. This is… kinda an action show but it’s ABOUT action, it’s central theme is kindness. However unlike in other shows with the same theme it doesn’t feel forced. It’s so natural and all characters are so real and you’ll end up loving them all! This show’s not only super hilarious but it brought me to tears more than once… I’ve never seen anything so accurately showcasing character’s emotions through just the visuals.
So yea it basically has it all: almost no romance, amazing plot, animation and characters, humor!
Additional bonus if you’re a Gravity Falls fan: it has a conman character with a hidden heart of gold that actually cares about the main character that’s a middle school kid = so if u love Stan, you will love him! :D
Well, I’ve already talked about why this show is great [HERE]!
Then there’s a show that’s pretty heavy and entirely psychological, meant for the mature audience. - and yes there’s no fanservice here either. If u dig diving into twisted mysteries that make you question what’s real and what’s a figment of the character’s tortured psyche’s - Paranoia Agent is the show for you.
^^^ extremely creepy in context/paired up with the soundtrack = the intro is characters laughing in dangerous/deadly situations… the song is sickeningly joyous… you see nuclear bomb exploding, flood, war… and they laugh
It deals with so many kinds of mental illness or very serious horrible situations life puts us in, that make us feel trapped, absolutely lost. It can get VERY visually abstract and this gets more prominent as the show goes on so I won’t post any screencaps of this to not to spoil too much.
The best thing is that despite dealing with very dark matters… the show does allow the viewer to draw some positive lessons from it. So you won’t just feel crushed after all that heavy stuff going on, more like… enlightened, emotional and utterly fascinated. I think it’s most helpful for someone with suicidal thoughts.
I’m yet to see enough anime to make a comprehensive list of those “safe to watch”. I realize there are way more out there but I’ve decided to only talk about those I’ve seen personally.
But in general other movies made by Satoshi Kon (who made Paranoia Agent) are just like that show so go watch them too! Just as all of the Studio Ghibli movies are very fun, beautifully made, devoid of “moe face” and esp fanservice since this company is kinda like the Japanese Disney = keeps stuff kid friendly (but still some of the movies really do deal with heavy real-life matters like war or destruction of the environment! so it still stays very intellectually satisfying).
Other shows to consider:
Terror in Resonance: The designs are one foot in the moe and one in a more grounded style so it’s for you to decide if this sits right with you. There’s not really any fanservice except one scene where a female characters simply takes a bath, it’s not sexualized… but u can see the boobs so… yeaa be vary of that. But overall it’s a fast-paced mystery-driven show about serious matters such as terrorism, childhood trauma, how WWII affected the Japanese society and so on… Plus it has really really unique and great soundtrack! It ranges from fast-paced jazz to stuff resembling Sigur Ros… (and I love this character on the right so much > . <)
This is, a very chill show about a group of friends hanging out and solving small mysteries in their school and outside of it. The mysteries aren’t that important but still they got this kind-of Sherlockian vibe? (later on those books are referenced just as Christie’s). The mysteries are fun but most of all it’s about watching these high schoolers grow as people. I mean that’s not the most ambitious premise but trust me, this is incredibly pleasant to watch, it always made me feel so relaxed, at ease. It’d say it’s quite beautiful! And yeah the design is meant to be cute and typical “anime style” but, uh, characters look their age (I suppose) so in my opinion that’s not moe.
One could argue they got just one “fanservice episode” but I personally disagree - I mean if just simply showing characters going to a swimming pool and one wearing bikini… and the guy who has a crush on her getting subtly flustered at her getting close is fanservice??? then probably all of the healthy romance is. Idk to me it wasn’t over the top but very natual and tasteful. Plus this show isn’t romance focused - rather is centred strongly around friendship and opening to others.
I’ve started this show recently, I’m 6 episodes in and so far there’s been no fanservice and I wouldn’t say the style is the typical “moe”(… but it kinda is… it’s complicated: character design is moe but how they are handled isn’t), esp if u take a look at how original the environment where the battles take place looks!
Beware though - it can get pretty bloody and the show spirals into darkness further and further as it proceeds… straying continuously from the usual cutesy “magical girl anime” tone (=it’s not afraid to brutally kill off its characters)
