How come traditional Asian parents racist ?

Areas in Asia particularly China, Japan, Korea are very homogeneous, meaning almost everyone if of the same race and so there’s lack of diversity and this has been what it’s like for a really long time and so I guess people from certain areas of Asia just aren’t as exposed to diversity.
They may not necessarily be racist (obviously they can be) but I’ve gone into less developed areas of China with my white and black friends and people are usually super shocked and come up and touch their hair solely because they haven’t seen anything like them before.
The only reason why I think Asian parents can be more racist than others is honestly because the concept of other races is literally foreign to them because of how separated they are from other races besides heir own, I know that my mom thought it was weird that I had non Asian friends until I introduced her to them and showed her that they’re literally just normal people like me and her and race doesn’t mean anything
And also think about how we are currently in a time where social media is booming and it was almost unheard of 20/30 years ago when our parents were younger, and so there was probably tremendously less communication with people around the world therefore less knowledge of what was “out there”

Almost 20 years ago, my father and a very young version me *marveled* at the sheer scale of adventure that Ocarina of Time had managed to pack into a single “tiny cartridge”. It remains as one of the most important bonding moments we’ve ever shared.

Today, I could not be happier to officially announce my contribution towards continuing that legacy for a brand new generation, as the voices of REVALI, TEBA, and DEKU TREE in “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” for Nintendo Switch/WiiU.

(Happy birthday, Dad! Here’s my present!)

This photo might not seem like much but there is a lot here.

Let’s start with, I’m a jeweler. I got my start with metalsmithing almost 20 years ago. It’s my passion. My partner doesn’t have this background.

We’ve been married for almost 11 years and together for 15. We’ve been through a lot of stuff together.

One of those things is me coming to terms with my sexuality. Some days I think I’m squarely demisexual, some days it is much more solidly ace. I’m still not entirely sure. But I’m somewhere on that spectrum. This is not a thing that was known before we got married. But we’re still here, still together.

A few weeks back my partner started asking questions about how to forge a ring. I taught them how to hammer and anneal copper. How to shape it without stretching it too much. How to polish and clean everything up.

During this they got the size for my middle finger. I figured ok, if you’re going to make a first ring you need to have a target. That’s a normal thing, I didn’t particularly think on the significance.

Yesterday they had me help them through our nano-ceramic plating process as they took the copper ring they had made to fit my middle finger and plated it with black ceramic.

I spent the last couple weeks teaching my sweetie the basics of jewelry making so that last night they could gift me with an ace ring that they made me with thier own two hands.

So yeah, that photo doesn’t look like much but it means everything.

Jungkook’s dreams are filled with starry skies. The black expanse painted with twinkling lights and a crescent moon finish. Lying on his back, the blades of grass falling between the spaces of his fingers. Everything feels so calm, a light breeze mixing with the coldness of the air around him. This is perfect, he thinks to himself. But then suddenly the gentle graze of something settles its way onto the palm of his hand and he thinks to himself — no, this is perfect.

The grip of his hand tightens around the soft and delicate skin of your wrist. He runs his thumb along the top of your knuckles as he tries to memorize the ridges of his self-conjured image of your being. It induces goosebumps along his entire body. Just from your touch alone, and in a dream no less, he is still so affected. A deep inhale enters his lungs before he turns to look at you lying next to him in the grassy meadow of his dreams. The edges of his vision are blurry and he can’t make out your face, but it doesn’t matter to him because this is perfect — you are perfect.

He wants to move closer. He wants to hold you in his arms, and he is so close to making this a reality, even if it is in his dreams, but then—

With an amount of “voters” that never really existed, the government just declared complete dictatorship is just around the corner. It was already there, it has been for quite a long while but now it will be official.

I will never, as long as I live, NEVER forgive the lack of common sense and observation to all the evidence that pointed out that Hugo Chavez will only bring misery and hunger to my country, in those who voted for him in 1998. This is exactly what it was about to happen? You really thought it wouldn’t?

Never doubt this is all his doing. It’s a different player, but it’s exactly the same game that was started almost 20 years ago. The same game that has taken so many lives, so much potential, so much innocence.

I will never forgive your envy, I will never forgive your ignorance, I will never, ever forgive your poor spirit that thought if he didn’t “save” us all, he would definitely fuck everyone up. You got what you wished for. I really hope you’re happy.

To you:

Read the news. Step out of your fucking bubble and learn from other countries so history won’t repeat itself in yours. Stop thinking they can’t, stop thinking they won’t, stop thinking someone will stop them. YOU have to stop them. Don’t wait until is too late, the signs are already there.

Post Breath of the Wild thoughts.

… have never been so afraid about a games success, even while turning Switch on I chanted “Nintendo, don’t fuck this one up” and even after 2 weeks constant playing I still can’t believe it turned out THIS good.

I had to accept this is not going to be another Ocarina of Time and the reward was an experience as pure and magical as my first OoT or even Mario 64 playthrough almost 20 years ago.

And Skyward Sword was a joke with awesome music ;)

Life on earth, as magnificent and versatile as it is, is seemingly tame compared to the weird and wonderful creatures that once existed. All categories of life have reached unimaginable sizes, here are just a selection of prehistoric record breakers!

The biggest shark known to have existed, ruling over the oceans as recently as up to a million years ago. A length of almost 20 metres and weighing in at an estimated 48 tonnes, Megalodon could deliver a crucifying bite of up to 110,000N. It is no surprise that the Megalodon was dubbed the “whale killing shark”.

Our early ancestors would have been quite familiar with Megatherium as they existed up to 8000 years ago, they were in fact the largest sloths to have existed. Sloths have a reputation as being lazy, slow and docile, but Megatherium was a 6 metre long, 4 tonne monster with a killer instinct and knife-like claws. Megatherium’s discovery came before that of the dinosaurs. Skeletons of these prehistoric beasts were a delight to the Victorian public and paved the way for the science of palaeontology.

Literally meaning “large turtle”, Archelon certainly was just that. Existing during the cretaceous, the time of the dinosaurs, Archelon could reach 4.5 metres long and may have lived to over 100 years old. Archelon could not compete with other cretaceous beings in speed and agility, but its blade-like beak was able to slice through flesh and crush though the toughest ammonite shells. Unfortunately Archelon appears to have been a popular snack for other marine dwellers, skeletons are frequently missing flippers or heads and covered in slashes.

When the dinosaurs reign ended, a new era saw the rise of new super-predators, one was Titanoboa, the largest snake ever with a body up to 13 metres long, standing a metre off the ground and weighing up to 2500 pounds. Titanoboa was 30% longer than even todays largest species. Scientists believe this humongous snake hunted like its modern relatives, the boa constrictors, by winding around prey and suffocating them.

Owner of the largest antlers of any animal, up to 3 metres wide, the Irish Elk gets its name from its frequent discoveries in Irish peat bogs. Existing up to 10,000 years ago, these would have been a common sight in grasslands for our ancestors. Many fossils indicate the animals died of starvation which is why the antlers are thought to have been part of elaborate mating contests between males, often resulting in one being fatally injured and unable to feed itself.

A distant relative of the elephants and mammoths, Deinotherium was more sinister, its name translates to “terrible beast”, they would have most likely caused trouble for our ancient ancestors around 1.5 million years ago. Deinotherium is actually considered to be the second largest land mammal of all time, behind Paraceratherium and is iconic in appearance due to its sharp, downward facing tusks.

Known as the short faced bear, they were the biggest bears on record and one of the largest mammal carnivores to have existed. Whilst their skull was short, they were packed with piercing teeth that could deliver a bone crushing bite. Existing up to 11,000 years ago, out ancestors would have stayed well clear of this 900 kilogram predator, with slender limbs and knife-like claws, Arctodus was deadly.

One of the most infamous fossil discoveries in history, Sarcosuchus was the largest crocodile to walk the Earth up to 112 million years ago, this was a crocodile capable of killing dinosaurs. Sarcosuchus was twice as long as a saltwater crocodile, that’s 11-12 metres long and could reach over 8 tonnes. Its jaw was packed full of 66 teeth either side of its jaw and would have clamped down on prey that wandered too near.

One of the largest lifeforms that has ever stood on the Earth, Argentinosaurus could grow up to 30 metres long with its hind limbs standing 4.5 metres off the ground. They existed between 97-94 million years ago and at adulthood would have been virtually indestructible to predators. Its weight is estimated at a staggering 80-100 tonnes. There hasn’t been another land mammal on the same scale as Argentinosaurus since and it’s unlikely there ever will be.

The largest discovered therapod ever, a group that includes Allosaurus and Tryrannosaurus. Spinosaurus remained an enigma to scientists for decades, the only discovered specimen was sadly destroyed during World War 2 and was not rediscovered until the 21st century. Spinosaurus is thought to have reached up to 16 metres long and weighed in around 12 tonnes, that is almost double the weight of a T-rex!

It’s easy to forget now, when we’ve come so far, where now marriage is equal under the law, just how much courage was required for Ellen to come out on the most public of stages almost 20 years ago. Just how important it was not just for the LGBT community, but for all us to see somebody so full of kindness and light—somebody we liked so much, somebody who could be our neighbor or our colleague or our sister—challenge our own assumptions, remind us that we have more in common than we realize, push our country in the direction of justice
—  Barack Obama

Ellen DeGeneres received a Presidential Medal of Freedom yesterday.

This is what Barack Obama said in her honour:

“It’s easy to forget now, when we’ve come so far, where now, marriage is equal under the law, just how much courage was required for Ellen to come out on the most public of stages almost 20 years ago. Just how important it was, not just to the LGBT community but for all of us to see somebody so full of kindness and light, somebody we liked so much, somebody who could be our neighbour or our colleague or our sister, challenge our own assumptions. Remind us that we have more in common than we realise. Push our country in the direction of justice. What an incredible burden that was to bear. To risk your career like that, people don’t do that very often. And then to have the hopes of millions on your shoulders. But it’s like Ellen says, “We all want a tortilla chip, that can support the weight of guacamole.” Which really makes no sense to me. But I thought would break the mood because I was getting kind of choked up. And she did pay a price. We don’t remember this. I hadn’t remembered it. She did, for a pretty long stretch of time, even in Hollywood. And yet, today, every day, in every way, Ellen counters what too often divides us, with the countless things that bind us together, inspires us to be better, one joke, one dance at a time.”

Baby Boy - Dean Winchester Imagine

Summary: You’re a very powerful crossroads demon who gets summoned to the crossroads one night and to your surprise, it’s a little boy who wants nothing more than food for his little brother, Sammy.

Author: Admin C

You were getting quite annoyed with your most recent customer. They thought you were some kind of pawn shop. You asked for nothing more than their soul and they’re trying to negotiate by offering you their 16 carat ring.

“You know what? Fine. Give me the ring, but I’ll see you in hell.” You slipped the ring on your finger and watch the lady get into her car and drive away. You felt a presence behind you and sighed.

“If you’re going to try and negotiate anything, I suggest you-” You turned around and saw a little boy. Maybe seven years old, standing there with a smaller boy who was maybe three.

“I shouldn’t be here, but our dad hasn’t been back in a few days and my brother, Sam is growing hungry and I promised dad I’d take care of him.”

“Are you offering your soul to me for your brother?” He nodded and squeezed his little brother’s hand. You felt a tug on your heart that you had never felt before. You leaned down and kissed his forehead

“Baby boy, you’re just so young. You have your whole life ahead of you. Now come with me, I have a much better idea.” You grabbed his hand and led them towards the diner down the road.

“Hey, Y/N. What can I get ya?” The waitress asked as you sat down with the boys in the booth.

“Get them whatever they want. Me on the other hand, I just want some fries.” You felt a poke on your arm and you turned to look at Sammy. He pointed at the menu to a picture of chicken strips.

“Is that what you want?” He nodded.

“Get the kid some chicken strips.” The waitress smiled and took down the orders and left.

“Why didn’t you take my soul?”

“I didn’t want yours today.”

“Why not?”

“I’m waiting. You can give it to me next time, okay?”

“Okay. Thank you for the food.”

Almost 20 years later

“Hello, Dean.”

“It’s you?”

“It’s me. It’s been awhile. How’s Sammy?” Dean looked down at the ground.

“That’s actually why I’m here. I need you to bring him back for me. He was shot and h-he’s gone.” You felt the same tug in your heart you felt almost 20 years ago.

“You’re offering me your soul for your brother?”

“It’s next time and you’ve waited long enough.”

“Baby boy, go to your brother now. I only ask for one thing and it’s not your soul.”

“But you said-”

“That was then and this is now. You’re one of the greatest hunters of all time and you haven’t killed me yet and I’m thankful and I’d like to keep it that way.

“Is that all you want?”

“From you? I’d ask for nothing more.” You walked over and kissed his forehead just like you did 20 years ago. You turned around and disappeared back to your place in hell.

What a throwback to the os days~ It’s so sweet that Jessie and James use Ekans and Koffing lures. They haven’t forgotten about their first partners. Also, it shows that the writers/animators haven’t forgotten about stuff from the series almost 20 years ago! I hope they’ll include more references and easter eggs. Maybe even the Misty lure will make an appearance :)
