Because my main source of SnK information (before I started watching it) was from Ari’s live blogging, I thought that the entire series was just centred around the daily lives of queer teenagers in some kind of military academy as they flew jet planes to defend the continent against monsters from the ocean.
and then for a last song I should preface that, on a whim, I named my Shepard “Edelweiss” and I didn’t really think about the symbolism behind that until after I finished the series. As it turns out, the Edelweiss flower is a symbol of bravery, courage and noble purity because of its ability to grow and bloom in harsh conditions. To give someone an edelweiss flower is a to make a promise of dedication. So, thinking about that in context of the ending, I was EVEN MORE emotionally destroyed, and therefore must include:
