Soooo hey guys, my current obsession is about a chinese novel called “Just One Smile is Very Alluring” by Gu Man. I don’t read chinese so I read an english translation of the novel and it was perfect anyway!
A TV show adaptation just started airing and Im loving it! The alternate title of the show is pretty nice since it matches the point of the story: “Love O2O”, which translates to “Love online to offline”. A love story that started in an online game that continues in the real life, outside of the virtual world. Ｏ(≧∇≦)Ｏ
The first picture is the real cover of the novel.
(Anyway, just wanted to share this… So yeah! XD Still learning how to use tumblr for other than reblogging and liking stuffs so sorry, that was lame) ╮(╯▽╰)╭
I know some people see you as nothing but a manipulator and a threat, but personally, I see you as a very alluring and elegant man. It would be a pleasure to get to know you better sometime.
Dark closed his eyes for a moment, seeming to soak in the words with a smug pride to his smile, gleefully wandering in the brightness of their compliments. Finally, he willed his eyes to open again, molten hot red flames in his irises like always.
“I am alluring and elegant because of what I say. You fail to see me as a manipulator because of what I do. But the failure to see me as such shows just how great of a manipulator I am. I hate to be that type of Figment to you, lovely, but unfortunately the great things you see in me simply aren’t there. They’re fake, they’re lies. The pleasure to get to know me is a pleasure that has been misguiding you since the moment you knew me.”
Hi guys, this is my first fanfic ever so i hope you like it, feel free to tell me what you think
Well hello Batsy,” said the man with green hair, a
wicked smile crossing his face as his favorite bat appeared in the abandoned
warehouse. “To what do I owe the pleasure this time?” he laughed. His laugh was
haunting, intimidating, and yes so alluring.
The man dressed in black armor stood there with a
stern face, “Where is she Joker?” he growled in a low voice.
“I don’t know who you are referring to,” Joker
“Don’t play games with me Joker, I know you took
her.” The bat said through clenched teeth.
You hear voices coming from the other side of the
door you were tapped behind. You wanted to scream but the cloth over your mouth
prevented you from doing so. You were a little out of it and your head was
swimming and you felt dizzy, “was I drugged?” you asked yourself. You try to
move your hands but wince at burn from the rope tied around your wrists.
“Give her back,” an angry voice shouted.
‘What is she to you Batsy? I’ve seen you two
together quite a lot. Is she your little play thing? Come on bats, you can tell
me,” the other man laughed hysterically.
You hear a loud bang and wonder what’s going on out
there, you lean over and fall to your side and look through the crack under the
door. You see Joker on the ground with one hand on his cheek and using the
other to push himself to his knees but not before he catches your gaze and
grins wickedly. That grin is terrifying. You felt tears start to well up in
“She’s not here Batsy Boy, but you better find her
soon,” Joker said.
Your eyes widen in fear that your Batman was going
to leave, “He’s lying! I’m right here! Don’t go!” you scream in your mind but
You’re head is pounding as you try to sit up; you
need to make some noise so let him know you’re in here. You’re too focused on
trying to figure a way out to hear the conversation unfolding. By the time you
get back to a sitting position and are about to ram your shoulder into the door
it opens suddenly, resulting in you falling hard on to the cold concrete. You
look up and your eyes dart around frantically. You see Joker chuckling to
himself; your heart is pounding so fast and so hard it starting to hurt.
“How sad, it looks as though your friend has left
and you didn’t even get to say hello,” he says with a terrifying smile. “Well
my dear, it’s time to go. We must leave before the bat finds out I sent him on a
wild goose chase,” he laughed as he hoisted you over his shoulder. You tried to
struggle but whatever he did to you earlier was making you feel weak, a sudden
wave of exhaustion rolled over you and you drifted off before you were even carried
through the front door.
When you awoke again you were in a dark room, the
only source of light came from the window next to you. You look around the room
when he steps into the soft cascade of moonlight. You realize your hands are no
longer tied and your mouth isn’t covered anymore. “Where am I?” you ask weakly,
your voice a little hoarse. You try to sit up but you still feel a little weak
and can’t support the weight so you fall back onto the bed that you’re laying
“Don’t worry about things like “where” or “why”
because it doesn’t matter,” he said as he sat on the bed next to you, he helped
you sit up and put his hand behind your back to keep you upright. You
involuntarily leaned over and rested your head on his shoulder.
You look up a bit and catch a glimpse at Jokers face;
he’s looking right at you with an expression you can’t quite place, and to be
honest it makes you feel a little uncomfortable. You stare at his facial
features, his smile which was normally terrifying was almost kind but it still
scared you, his blue eyes looked down straight into yours and you blushed.
“So, what exactly are you to the bat?” he asked,
snapping you out of your daze, you realize his face was just inches from yours
which made you blush more. You tried to look away but you couldn’t. “Hmm?” he
“I-I don’t know…” you manage to squeak out.
He narrowed his eyes at you and you trembled under
his intimidating glare.
“Lying isn’t very nice little girl,” he growled.
“I’ve seen you with him multiple times.”
You cower a bit at the horrifying tone his voice
held. “He’s m-my dad, not biological though, he adopted me after my mom died
and since my dad abandoned my mom before I was born I had nobody so he took me
in,” you whimpered.
The Jokers eyes widened in surprise for a moment
then he threw his head back and laughed that haunting laugh of his, his metal
teeth shining in the light. “Oh this is rich, I took the bats kid,” he laughed
harder. “Here I thought you were just his really young girlfriend, but you’re
the damn bats kid,” he held his side as he laughed.
“Will you let me go..?” you asked quietly, trying
not to anger him.
“Will I let you go? Hmm, tempting, but no. You’re
worth way more than some broad. I think I’ll keep you. Plus I could use some
eye candy around here,” he said and grinned as his face inched closer to yours,
his lips were so close to yours you could feel his breath as he spoke.
You tried to back away but he pulled you closer,
crushing his lips against yours. Your eyes widened with shock, you wanted to
get away, you needed to, but you couldn’t. There was something about the way
that he kissed you that made you feel as though you were melting, you couldn’t
resist anymore, you finally closed your eyes and gave in to the sensation of
kissing the insane man.
He finally broke the kiss and backed away slightly.
Your eyes were glazed over and your head was swimming. He looked at you and
smiled for a brief moment as if he found something amusing. “That shade looks
good on you,” he laughed.
You were confused for a minute when you realized his
blood red lipstick was smudged a bit and you blushed. You looked down so he
couldn’t see your face, you were so embarrassed. You flex your fingers a bit
finally beginning to regain some strength.
Joker leans over to peer at your still blushing
face, and you turn your head more. He lets out a low growl and grabs you by
your jaw, pulling you to look at him again. “Don’t turn away from me,” he
growls and licks his lips. His eyes are cutting straight through yours, the
look on his face is terrifying and you start to tremble under his gaze. He
grins wickedly at your reaction and licks his lips once more; looking at you
like a hungry lion looks at his prey.
“P-please let me go J-Joker…” you stutter as he
inches closer to you. You flex your fingers some more.
Joker lets out a low
growl and you cower slightly. “I already told you no. Don’t ask again or you
might make me angry kitten.”
“W-Why did you take
me?” you whimper.
“You ask a lot of
questions little girl. You see Batsy is fun to mess with and I was bored so I
needed something to do. That’s when I saw you. No more questions. Daddy doesn’t
like it,” he glares at you and pushes you back onto the bed.
You look up at him
terrified of what he might do. He looks at your horrified expression and
“Oh, yes. I didn’t get
your name doll,” he says as he inches his face closer to yours. When you don’t
respond he growls and grabs your jaw.
“I don’t like being
ignored kitten,” he snarls.
“(Y/N)…” you say
quietly, your voice trembling slightly.
“(Y/N),” he purrs. You
look at him when he saws your name.
‘The way he said my
name..was kind of sexy…’ you think to yourself. ‘Where the hell did that
thought come from? He kidnapped you, you idiot,’ you shake your head.
He looks at you trying
to figure out what you’re thinking. You look up at him and see his perplexed expression.
“W-what?” you ask.
“What are you thinking
about?” he looks into your (E/C) eyes; you stare back into his piercing blue
orbs and can’t seem to look away. His glare is so intimidating, almost
hypnotic, but oh so beautiful.
“You have pretty eyes..”
you say softly causing his glare to intensify. You cower slightly but still can’t
seem to take your eyes off of his.
“I asked you a question
kitten, don’t make me repeat it,” he growls.
“I-I was thinking about
how I liked the way you said my name..” you stutter. This causes him to laugh.
“Oh? You like it when
daddy says your name? Little (Y/N),” he grins.
You blush softly and
nod your head.
He grabs your throat a
little tightly and you gasp, “Oh little kitten, we’re going to have some fun.
But I have some business to attend at the moment so be a good girl and behave
while I’m gone,” he says and pushes you back down onto the bed roughly. He
walks out of the room locking the door him. You wait a few minutes and crawl
off the bed, your legs a little shaky. You go to the door and try to jiggle the
handle. ‘Damn it, he locked me in.. I have to get out of here, dads worried
about me,’ you think to yourself.
You walk over to the
window slowly and smile when you see that’s its unlocked. That smile slowly
fades once you see that you’re on the third floor, it fades even faster when
you see a guard standing outside beneath your window.
You look around the
bedroom trying to find something you can use to escape, you decide to tie some
sheets together as some kind of makeshift rope, it’s going to be a little short
but you think you should be fine. ‘Now what about that stupid guard’ you look
around and find a small table lamp. ‘That’ll work’ you think as you unplug the
lamp smirking slightly.
You go back to the
window and open it quietly; you hold the lamp out the window and aim it above
the guards head. “Hey stupid!” you shout and drop the lamp. The guard looks up annoyed;
the lamp hits him on the head effectively knocking him out. You giggle slightly
and tie the end of your sheet rope to the bed frame and toss the other end out
the window, you quickly shimmy down the rope. Once you come to the end of the
rope you’re about twenty feet away from the ground. ‘Great. Just great’ you
sigh. You let go and brace for impact, luckily you landed the guard you knocked
out. It still hurt but at least he cushioned your fall. You flick his head and
he twitches, ‘well, at least I didn’t kill him,’ you giggle. You get up and
dust yourself off, your leg hurts but you don’t care, you need to get out of
there. You look up at the window and see Joker. And boy does he look pissed.
You grin up at him and flip him off; he doesn’t like that very much. You turn
and start to run as you hear him call for his men to come catch you. You sprint
as fast as you can until you’re out of breath, you’re panting for breath as you
look for somewhere to hide, and you decide to hide behind some dumpsters by and
You’re there for a few
minutes catching your breath when you hear footsteps. You hold your breath and
hope they don’t find you, ‘come on! Go away. I’m so close!’
Someone grabs you from
behind and you scream.
“Hello, Kitten.” Joker
says in your ear. He sounds pissed. You gasp he snakes his hand around your
throat and squeezes. You grab his arm and try to pull his hand away but he’s
stronger than you, your vision is getting blurry and you’re losing strength in
your grip on his arm.
(Y/N),” he whispers in your ear right before everything goes black.
It’s a commonly understood truth that a girl’s first crush on an androgynous pop star (or, Edward Cullen, the sparkly vampire) stems from the star’s effeminate presentation. That a man who looks a bit womanly presents as a physically safer option for a young girl to explore her sexuality. Masculinity, especially in its more overtly coded gestures, is threatening. But there’s nothing safe about a man in women’s clothes. Society treats men who deviate from the enforced norm as fully abject, the source of great ridicule and ostracization. To become infatuated with the man who fronts the band that critics disparage as worthless and dumb isn’t a retreat to safety, it’s a refusal of safety.
The allure of a man in women’s clothes is, I think, less that he’s a safe sexual fantasy and more that he will want the same things you do. He already does. So often we’re presented with the image of a woman putting on a man’s dress shirt the morning after or a woman in her boyfriend’s football jersey drinking beer with the boys. Women are instructed to conform to traditionally masculine desires in order to please men and appear relatable. A man who wants you to put your makeup on him or to lend him your coat holds a very provocative appeal because you don’t have to pretend anything for him. All the architecture of being a woman, the constant invisible labor of hair styling and lip gloss and matching your bag to your shoes and highlighting your best feature and learning how to properly cross your legs is not only visible to the effeminate man, but appreciated by him. Instead of teaching you the rules of baseball, you teach him the rules of at home manicures.
Given his fondness for elaborate hairstyles and nail polish and an occasional full face of makeup and, most recently, platform boots which he removes midway through the show with a knowing “the ladies understand how this feels,” Matty Healy doesn’t even code as straight. He’s often asked to elaborate on his sexuality in interviews, to clarify his desire – a desire plainly obvious in his music. There’s an incredulity on the part of these interviewers, a pervasive belief that Matty’s aesthetic in some way violates his sexuality. His fans see no such conflict. Matty holds an intense sway over women because much as we want to fuck/be him, he wants to fuck/be us. It’s a powerful suggestion, one that feels practically utopian. I have never personally encountered this dynamic. Without fail, I’m a little alien to men. Even the ones who have respected me or loved me didn’t want to be me, never.
I don’t think the fantasy of Matty is about safety but – as all fantasies are – about desire. It’s the fantasy that you, your whole self and not just your body or your ability to please, are desired. Our whole lives we’re presented this ideal of partnership, but in reality it’s a lot more like conformity. And as women we’re the party expected to conform and concede. The dream of Matty is one where the two of you might truly become a single person, totally indistinguishable from one another.
Day turned to night. Nights were restless and filled with despair. Those nights soon turned to weeks. Weeks soon turned into months. No amount of time was able to fix what was about to happen.
The royal blue dress clung around the top half of your body then flowed out just a few inches above your knees. Your curly Y/H/C hair went with the dress perfectly, along with the silver jewelry that accented the beautiful look. The nude heels boosted your height, showing off your muscular calves in the most glamorous way. Your makeup was minimal, simple but it still made you look like a queen. Yet there was still something missing.
A man with alluring blue eyes that causes the ocean to cry out in shame. His brown hair, healthy and soft, was now a memory that your fingers no longer remember the feeling. A smile that is so bright and beautiful that the northern lights yearned to seek it’s secret. His name that used to fall from your lips countless times, like a surfer seeking every chance to tread the deep ocean waters but ceasing to do so because of a tragic accident. Even if the ocean so desperately called out for the surfer to just come swim with the dolphins or even the angelfish- just one more time. But he wouldn’t.
His name was James Buchanan Barnes.
The chapel was filled with many people that you had the pleasure to meet over the years. Each person had their own story. They told it through their eyes, that would hesitantly glance at the woman or man whom they thought were intriguing. Or their fake smiles, that could show that they really weren’t all that happy to be there.
You sighed quickly finding your seat, closest to the exit- just in case you really couldn’t handle being here. Everyone understood that though. They knew what had happened that rainy night at the avenges tower almost two years ago. And when you decided to pack your bags and move out the very next week, they understood.
Of course, they were all of your friends still. They would never abandon you. Occasionally, when they didn’t have a mission, they would stop by and see how you were doing. Sometimes bringing you your favorite coffee and movies along with a big bowl of popcorn. That was usually on a Wednesday. But none of the random stops were from him which just caused your heart to ache more.
Everyone was soon seated, waiting for the ceremony to begin. You noticed all of the simple yet elegant flower arrangements and the ribbons that decorated the aisle with such grace. Your eyes continued to scan the captivating room, ultimately landing on the pair of blue eyes that had truly captivated you from the very beginning. Then you saw him.
His eyes were piercing your very own which made you wonder how long he had been staring at you. The exchange was soon ended as the music for the bride began to play.
Not daring to look at the other woman, your eyes stayed on Bucky’s. You noticed how his blue eyes lit up the second they met her own. You smiled softly, watching him. His entire being lit up as he watched his soon-to-be wife walk to him.
Your tears didn’t take you by surprise as they found paths down your cheeks, soon falling onto beautiful royal blue dress that you wore specifically for that day.
It was the night you finally worked up the courage to tell Bucky your true feelings for him. To say the least you were head-over-heels for the man. Who wouldn’t be? He was precious. He had helped you through so much and you the same for him.
It was Bucky and yours weekly tradition that on every Wednesday night, you both would stay in and watch movies until the two of you both fell asleep on the comfy couch. Your hair was in a messy bun, your attire completely laid-back. That’s what Bucky said he really enjoyed about you, that you didn’t feel the need to constantly dress up.
After a solid thirty minutes of waiting on the couch, you finally got tired deciding to go and knock on Bucky’s door. Him and Steve had a tough mission yesterday so maybe he had taken a nap. However, there was no answer once you knocked on Bucky’s door. Which confused the living daylights out of you.
Frowning, you decided to go find Steve (who was actually in the training room like usual). “Hey, Stevie, where’s Bucky?” you grinned at the super solider, his actions halting as he turned towards you. “He went out. Did he not tell you,” Steve questioned. You shook your head and frowned more, “no… when will he be back?” Steve shrugged which caused you to say a small ‘thank you’and heading back to the living room.
Bucky never missed movie night with you. Never.
Bucky looked at the woman with a loving gaze as she took her spot beside him at the alter. The preacher began talking, continuing on with the ceremony. You sat through the majority of the speech. Finally, it was time for the moment everyone was waiting for.
Taking one last look at Bucky Barnes, you stood up from your seat in the back. You turned your back and walked out of the chapel.
“Y/N?” Bucky yelled as he walked into the tower. You had started the movie without him and finished it without him which resulted in watching another but more sad. The popcorn bowl in your lap was now empty and you kept your eyes locked onto the movie screen.
“Y/N?” Bucky called out your name once again, passing the movie room but then turning around once he realized you were in there. “Hey, doll, I’ve got some news,” he grinned ear-to-ear.
Your eyes were still fixated on the tv screen which didn’t seem to phase Bucky because he sat down right beside you. His arm coming around your shoulder. “Tonight was such a blast. We went to the carnival and I won her a stuffed animal and I just-” Bucky cut himself off with a happy sigh.
We? Her? That’s when it hit you. Bucky had ditched you for some girl. And, boy, did that really tear your heart apart. You looked up at Bucky, your eyes watering. His happiness soon came to an end as he examined your face. “Hey,” he whispered as he wiped away a stray tear, “what’s wrong, Doll?”
Doll. That was probably something he probably called her too.
Bucky picked up the popcorn bowl and set it on the table, seeing the movie case of the other movie that you had watched an hour earlier. His eyebrows furrowed. That was the movie you both agreed to watch Wednesday.
Then it hit him. His eyes widened as he turned to you but you just gave him a sad smile. “I’m so sorry! I can make it up to you,” Bucky promised but you shook your head.
“You can’t, Buck. Because tonight I was going to tell you something really important and you just- you didn’t even tell me.”
“I-I know, Doll. I’m sorry. I thought Steve had told you,” he tried desperately to come up with an excuse for his mistake. You grabbed the fluffy blanket that you were cuddled up with and sighed, turning off the tv. “It’s okay, Buck. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
You stopped in front of the door and turned to look at the handsome man. “What were you going to tell me?” He questioned.
You just smiled and whispered just low enough for him to still hear, “I’m in love with you.” And with that you exited the movie room. Going to find comfort in your room.
As soon as you had left the room, Bucky realized there was no way he would make up for this.
Bucky watched as you walked out of the chapel, his thoughts were clouded with you. Ever since he saw you that night at his engagement party. Of course, he knew you would come. You two had once been inseparable. The prime example of the saying ‘two peas in a pod’.
That night when you had told Bucky that you loved him, he didn’t know what to do. In fear that he would ruin everything with you, he figured ignoring you would be best. It wasn’t.
“Bucky,” the woman dressed in all white whispered from in front of him and simply smiled before kissing his cheek. “Go get her.”
And that’s what Bucky did, after he muttered a silent apology to the woman. Ignoring the dramatic gasps of the crowd and the smiles finding their way onto the other Avengers faces, he walked out of the room and then out of the chapel.
“Y/N! Wait!” Bucky yelled out for you, watching you halt your movements from getting into the taxi. He ran up to you and wrapped his arms around your figure tightly. Afraid that once again you would disappear.
“I-I’m sorry. I knew I shouldn’t have come. I just came to say goodbye.”
“What?” Bucky’s eyes lit up in confusion. “What do you mean you just came to say goodbye?”
“I just- I don’t know, Buck, it’s not the same. Ever since I told you that I was in love with you, I’ve gotten nothing but pity looks from everyone. And you haven’t spoken to me since then and I just…” you sighed, fixing the bag that was hanging from your shoulder.
“I packed everything and I knew that it would be the right thing to say goodbye to you.”
“No, not again, Y/N,” Bucky’s hands cupped your cheeks, making you look at him instead of the ground.
“You shouldn’t even be out here. You’re-”
“She knows, Y/N. She knows that it’s always been you. She knows that when I look at her that I see you. She knows. And she wants me with you. Because you make me happy.”
Your eyes welled up with tears but you refused to let them fall. That’s all that you have been doing since the night you told Bucky that you were in love with him. And now it was enough. But as he stood there, in all of his glory, you couldn’t help it.
“Why didn’t you do anything before?” Your voice came out as a whisper. “I don’t know. I was scared that I had pushed you too much away that you would’ve rejected me,” Bucky admitted causing you to frown and assure him that you would never- ever reject him even if he steals the last bowl of your favorite cereal and falls asleep on you during movie nights.
“What I’m trying to say… and I understand if you don’t feel the same anymore but Y/N/N, I am so madly, deeply, absurdly in love with you. And I am so sorry that I didn’t come tell you earlier,” his words flowed off his tongue and came to your ears like music. They were what you were waiting for. What you had dreamed about.
“It’s okay,” you whispered as you lent up and gave Bucky a soft, short kiss on the lips.
“I’m in love with you too.”
This took me a long time to write… and I couldn’t figure out where or not I wanted it to be a happy ending or a sad ending. But as you can tell, I decided on happy because that’s where it led me to.
Thank you all so much for reading the original and requesting a part two. If I wouldn’t have gotten so many requests then I would never have written this. Feel free to send in requests whenever you would like. x
