Le Chêne Chapelle: The Ancient Oak Tree Chapel as Old As France Itself
In the quiet town of Allouville-Bellefosse in
France, sits a little slice of ancient history – a giant oak tree that is said
to be as old as the nation of France itself.
Following a lightning strike, which burnt out its center in the 1600s,
the tree was viewed as a sign from God, and two sanctuaries were built directly
into its hollow. Today, mass continues to be celebrated inside the Chapel Oak.
