Ahhh thank you again to everyone that came out! Such a fun night. Thank you big time to Poketo for having us down and for taking such good care of us. Nice seeing old friends and making new ones. And finally thank you LA for the sunshine.
If you missed the opening, bummer because I missed you. However, the show is up for 4 weeks! Go check it out if you get a chance.
Alley-Oop is a project featuring the collaborative work of Eric Trine and Will Bryant. In the fall of 2011 both of these dudes moved to Portland for graduate studies. Eric is from Southern California and has a history in sculpture, furniture, and environments. Will is from Texas and has a history in illustration, graphic design, and art direction. Though they attended separate schools in Portland, their paths often crossed, and social circles overlapped, eventually culminating in a vortex of high-fives, teenage mutant ninja turtle anecdotes, and buckets of laughter. As their friendship grew, talks of a collab laced every hang out, and it was really a matter of time and space, as something was bound to happen. Enter Poketo.
Eric and Will have both done work with Poketo in the past and it seemed like a good fit for an exhibition. Poketo, Trine, and Bryant all share an ethos that a life well lived comes from the infusion of good art, good food, good friends, and good vibes! As Charles Eames once said, “Take your pleasure seriously!” They say - Form follows fun! For this exhibition, the work is a true combination of each artist’s’ aesthetic choices, subject matter, materials and color. They influenced each other in developing a series of pieces in a wide variation of media and dimensions, with the express purpose of brightening and lightening the lives of everyday people. In true Alley-Oop fashion, the assist is as important as the dunk, and it is team work that really makes the dream work.
Saturday February 16th, 7pm - 10pm
Poketo is located in Downtown LA at 820 E 3rd Street 90013. (map)
