“Everyone in this room had a rough childhood. Get over it.”

No. Let me stop and explain why this quote pisses me off so much.

Iris’s mother left her at a very young age. So young that she barely remembers her. But she had a loving and generous father who never let her forget how much he cared for her.

Barry’s mother was killed and his father was taken to prison. But he still had a wonderful relationship with his dad and had a really good family that took him in and gave him everything he ever needed in terms of love.

Leonard Snart had none of this.

Leonard Snart had an abusive father, one who beat and abused both him and his sister, one who never cared about them and would often take out his anger on his own children. His mother is either missing, in jail, or dead, and if she’s dead we can almost wholeheartedly assume that it was because of Lewis. He had to raise Lisa practically his whole life, protect her from their own father, and got into a life of crime to provide for her. He worried about her while he was in prison, probably assuming that Lewis was beating the shit out of her which, in all likelihood, he probably was. He never had anyone who loved him except for Lisa and maybe Mick.

Leonard Snart killed his own father, and even though he hated him, as a child who has been verbally abused her whole life I can say that no matter what you might say, you still have this weird sense of love for your abusers. He killed his own father and probably hated himself because of it.

So no. You cannot tell Snart to “get over it.” You did not have the same childhood he did. You do not have the right to tell him to get over it, just like he can’t tell you to get over yours.

Never, ever tell a victim of abuse to just “get over it.”

Shows I watch and my opinions on ships:

( Shadowhunters, Arrow, The Flash, Girl Meets World (rip), Riverdale, and The Fosters )

Shadowhunters; SAPHAEL IS MY LIFE AND I LITERALLY MADE A TUMBLR DEDICATED TO IT. Honestly, I don’t see how you CAN’T SHIP THEM. BUT DOES ANYONE HAVE THE PROBLEM OF GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN SAIA (simon and maia) AND SAPHAEL CAUSE I DO. But like have we even seen a bit of sizzy AT ALL?? LIKE MAYBE A COUPLE OF SECONDS OF IT. And yeah yeah, I know sizzy is gonna come at some point and start building up but let’s just all appreciate the time we have left. CAN I TALK ABOUT MY NOTP THOUGH? CLIMON. THE STUPIDEST SHIT I’VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. CLARY DOESN’T LIKE SIMON LIKE THAT AND I THINK EVERYONE KNOWS THAT, IT’S JUST SHE CAN’T HAVE JACE SO SHE’S LOOKING FOR AN EASY BOYFRIEND. LIKE SHE NEVER LIKED HIM LIKE THAT. AND ONCE SHE FIGURES OUT JACE ISN’T HER BROTHER BYE BYE SIMON. ONE OF THE MANY REASONS WHY I HATE HER.

Arrow; olicity is the cutest thing in the world and I totally ship them. But honestly for a long time I shipped Felicity and Ray. Like I love Ray and he’s such a sweetheart so I was like hey why not. They were pretty cute. Lyla and John are also really cute but for the longest time I hated Lyla because she was a bitch when she was working with Amanda Waller (rip), but now she’s okay. ROY AND THEA OTP OTP OTP OTP LIKE DON’T EVEN TRY ME. IM ONLY ON SEASON 4 SO DON’T SPOIL ANYTHING DJFDU

The Flash; WESTALLEN 200000% hottest ship out there. Such a power couple. BUT MY OTP IS CAITLIN AND JULIAN LIKE THEY NEED A FUCKING SHIP NAME. Also Wally and Jesse are the cutest ship of all time like goals goals goals.

Girl Meets World (rip); You see, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do this show, but lucaya will forever be one of my favorite ships of all time so I had to. Like does anyone even ship rucas?? THE ONLY REASON RILEY EVEN HAS LUCAS IS BECAUSE MAYA PUSHED HIM AWAY AFTER HE WAS GOING TO FUCKING CHOOSE HER. AND WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS JOSHAYA CRAP LIKE WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?1?1?1

Riverdale; VERONICA AND ARCHIE ARE THE HOTTEST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET SO IF YOU PUT THEM TOGETHER IT WOULD MAKE SUCH A FUCKING POWER COUPLE. Don’t kill me but I don’t really ship bughead.. I feel like it literally came out of no where. Like where is the build up?? The thing with riverdale is that they have like 0 build up to their relationships. Except for Valerie and Archie, they had a build up, but like yeah they hinted that Jughead liked Betty, BUT WHERE THE FUCK DID IT EVER HINT THAT BETTY MIGHT LIKE JUGHEAD? SHES TOO STUCK ON ARCHIE AND I BET 2 MILLION DOLLARS THAT SHE’S NOT OVER HIM AND IF HE ASKED HER OUT SHE WOULD SAY YES.

The Fosters; BRANDON AND CALLIE ALL THE FUCKING WAY. LIKE THAT IS SUCH A STRONG SHIP AND I DONT CARE IF THEY ARE BASICALLY SIBLINGS, NOT BY BLOOD THEY AREN’T. AND YES IT IS SORT OF WEIRD I GUESS BUT FUCK THE WRITERS FOR MAKING ME SHIP THEM BECAUSE MY OTP IS BASICALLY INCEST.

If you reached the end you are a champ because you just read a good page of me ranting :))

okay but Kendra as Lens mum

So we all know that Len’s mum left when he was little, before Lisa was born (because they have different mums) But what if she didn’t leave what if it was Kendra, and it was just that Savage got to her when he was little.

Okay so let’s say she’s with Lewis because at this point in time he’s actually an alright guy. She hasn’t met Carter yet (or has but she thought he was just some weird crazy guy) and then one night she finds out that Lewis, while not working as a cop, has been rocking that criminal lifestyle and she doesn’t want that for her son and so plans to leave.
But that night, what if when she goes out to get the money and supplies she needs for them to leave, Savage finds her and Len never hears from her again.

So then cut to Legends and Len can’t help but like Kendra and he doesn’t know why (he wasn’t old enough to remember how she looked). He can’t help but feel comfortable around her.

Then there’s this one mission where maybe Len is in danger and nearly dies and while he’s on the med bay Kendra just loses it and neither her nor anyone else can figure out why because sure Snart is a part of the team but he’s not that close with anyone yet. But Len is sure somethings up.

Obviously Len would figure it out at some point because he’s clever and it wouldn’t take him long to put it together, he asks Carter about her last self and he tells Len he’s happy she doesn’t remember it, because she was stolen from her son and kept captive for 11 years before managing to kill herself to escape him.

Len works it out, he’s 44 and Kendra is 25.
If she went missing when he was 8 and held captive for 11 years Len would’ve been 19 when she died
It’s not a coincidence that there’s a 19 year age gap between them.

Len doesn’t tell her because how can he? Eventually he plans to though, but the Oculus happens and he doesn’t get the chance.

It’s only when Kendra watches the place explode that the memories come flooding back to her and she collapses as she realises she just watched another son die, that she lost Leonard again, she had him back and she didn’t even realise it.

The official cinema all over the world is running out of breath. It is morally corrupt, aesthetically obsolete, thematically superficial, temperamentally boring. Even the seemingly worthwhile films, those that lay claim to high moral and aesthetic standards and have been accepted as such by critics and the public alike, reveal the decay of the Product Film. The very slickness of their execution has become a perversion covering the falsity of their themes, their lack of sensitivity, their lack of style.

Today’s newspaper noir….

CHICAGO DEADLINE
(1949, Paramount/UCLA, 86 min., scr. Warren Duff, dir. Lewis Allen)
Alan Ladd plays a reporter obsessed with a young woman he finds dead in a cheap brothel. Connecting the dots all around Chicago, he cobbles together the sad history of a good girl (Donna Reed) gone wrong. Incredibly rare, not screened for decades, a 35-mm print was unearthed through a joint effort of the Film Noir Foundation and the UCLA Film and Television Archive for NOIR CITY 7 (2009).
