Cathee Dahmen [Catherine Helen Sachs; 16.09.45 - 25.11.97]
Cathee Dahmen was an American supermodel in the 1960s and 1970s. With her unique looks, Cathee, who was half German and half Native American Chippewa, worked for Ford Models in New York during her peak years in the late 1960s, where she was one of Eileen Ford’s top earners. She appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in 1968, and on Vogue in 1971. She was associated with the Youthquake movement in fashion.
She married British actor Leonard Whiting in 1971, and moved to London where she continued modeling for the Models One agency. They divorced in the late 1970s, and Cathee remarried to Alan Merrill, lead singer of the Arrows. She had four children: Veronica (who was given to adoption), Sarah Whiting, Laura Merrill, and Allan Sachs. Cathee died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema on November 25, 1997, aged 52.
