allah's sword

“How few are the Romans and how numerous are we! An army’s strength lies not in numbers of men but in Allāh’s help, and its weakness lies in being forsaken by Allāh”

(Said this to one of his soldier at the Battle of Yarmouk who became worried by the enemies huge numbers gathering before them)

Aha, yes I’m talking about that fierce Uncle of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam.

He is indeed a favorite among all Muslims whenever the companions are being talked about.

So tonight I wanted to add a little more information of his status among the companions.

It is said that Hamzah Radiyallahu Anhu enjoyed a very high ranking status with the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam.

It was said that the “swords of Allah” are three: Kalib Ibn Yuquna, during the era of Musa Alaihi As Salaam, Uriya Ibn Hanan, during the era of Dawud Alaihi As Salaam and Hamza Ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib, during the era of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam.

This, amongst other narrations, is just a beautiful distinction of the characteristics and contribution of Hamza Radiyallahu Anhu during the emergence of Islam.

When one will speak of the life of Hamza, there would be immense love that would really develop in one’s heart, for the story of the life of Hamza is nothing but a beautiful inspiration to all Muslims.

The love he had for his nephew, the stand he took for Islam, the brilliant military strategy that Allah Azza Wa Jall bestowed upon him, and the honorable way of his death (being a martyr) was just beautiful.

And we pray that such stories would touch and fill our hearts with more love for the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam, for Islam and of course for the yearning and mercy of being with Allah Azza Wa Jall.

Narration can be found in Al Bukhari 5100 and Muslim 446

The Prophet said :Khālid ibn al-Walīd is a sword from the Swords of Allah; Allah has set him loose on the polytheists.
