allah the most forgiving

وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ

And know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.

[al-Baqarah: 235]

[Al-Ghafur/ The Forgiver and Hider of Faults/ The All Forgiving]
This divine name appears many times in the Qur'ān, pointing to Allah’s kindness, love and mercy which He keeps showering upon his servants. We should not doubt, and rather have conviction that He may forgive our sins out of His mercy. However, we should attempt to avoid sinning as much as we can. This divine name should make us steady on the right path, believing that He will forgive our past misdeeds. “Verily, Allah is the Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.” ‎﴾‬‎2.173﴿‬
Allah’s forgiveness is unlimited. “Tell my servants that I am the Most-Forgiving, The Merciful.” ‎﴾15.49‬‎﴿‬
Knowing this, believers serve Allah with hope in their hearts and not despair. “O My servants, you sin by night and by day, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness of Me and I shall forgive you.” [Muslim]
So, if one commits a sin, one should turn to his Lord in humility and repentance, and ask Him sincerely for forgiveness. “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if you did not commit sin Allaah would do away with you and bring people who would commit sin then pray for forgiveness.” [Narrated by Muslim, 2749]
The best way to pray for forgiveness is to say:
(O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.)

And backbite not one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful -(49:12)

And follow not (O man, i.e., say not or do not or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily, the hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each of those ones will be questioned (by Allah) - (17:36)

Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it) - (50:18)

The Prophet ﷺ said, “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day must either speak good or remain silent.” –(Muslim)

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whosoever gives me a guarantee to safeguard what is between his jaws [i.e. tongue] and what is between his legs [i.e. private parts], I shall guarantee him Jannah” – (Al-Bukhari)

The Prophet ﷺ said, “A man utters a word pleasing to Allah without considering it of any significance for which Allah exalts his ranks (in Jannah); another one speaks a word displeasing to Allah without considering it of any importance, and for this reason he will sink down into Hell.” – (Al-Bukhari)

The Prophet ﷺ said, “When the son of Adam gets up in the morning, all the limbs humble themselves before the tongue and say: ‘Fear Allah for our sake because we are with you: (i.e., we will be rewarded or punished as a result of what you do) if you are straight, we will be straight; and if you are crooked, we will become crooked.’” – (At-Tirmidhi)

Salam. How do i completely stop my addiction to masturbating. Ive tried so many ways. Ive stopped fr a few weeks but every once in a while the desire comes back strong and I keep making dua but i always find myself falling for it. Pls make dua for me

Walaikum Assalaam,

Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala is the most forgiving and merciful. If we sincerely repent He will forgive us. No matter how many times we commit a mistake and after every fall we turn to Him and ask for His forgiveness sincerely He will forgive us.

The temptation will be there but you have to suppress your desire for the sake of Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala. Keep striving and never give up. Keep yourself busy and do productive things that will benefit you in the hereafter. Make dua and ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala for help. Cry and beg to Him that He give you strength to fight with your desire and help you abstain from sin. Avoid all the circumstances that trigger your feeling and strengthen your relationship with Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala.

“The more you go against the self, the more light will be put in the heart.”

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf

First of all find out what are the triggers and avoid being in those circumstances. Secondly fast if you are having problem in controlling desires or eat less. Thirdly temptation will always be there, throughout our life. But we have to abstain from the temptation. When you think about the desires and it gives you joy. The first thing you have to do is to repel that thought, before it becomes an action. Try to distract yourself, do something read books, talk to your family or anything that may help you to get distracted from the thought. If you keep thinking about it, it will become a stronger desire and it may happen you may end in doing sin.

Following are some tips that will help you to reduce sin in shaa Allah

1.      Fix your prayers.

Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do. (Surat Al-`Ankabūt 29:45)

2.      Being God conscious, always keep in mind that whatever we do, we have to be accountable to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and He’s watching us all the time.

3.      When you get tempted to do sin think of the death because it is the cutter of delights.

The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said:“Remember often the destroyer and cutter off of delights, which is death.” (Sunnan Trimidhi:2229)

4.    Have friends that remind you of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala not those whose company makes you forget Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

5.    Strive to get closer to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala. When our connection is stronger with Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala it will be easy for us to fight with the desires.

6.    When you get tempted think of the following things:

·         Allah is watching you

·         Angels are recording your deeds

·         Punishment of the grave

·         You have to answer on the day of Judgement

Here are some tips to get closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala that will help you in shaa Allah.

1.If we want to get closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, we have to fulfill our obligatory duties and follows the command of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and his messenger (peace be upon him) wholeheartedly.

2.Being God conscious, always keep in mind that whatever we do, we have to be accountable to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and He’s watching us all the time.

3.Whenever we do a good work, always make the intention that you are doing this to please Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

4.Be thankful to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala in every situation and be happy with the Allah decree.

5.Try to do dhikr all the time, it will make us closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

Following are some dhikr that we can do all the time:

1.  Asthaghfirullah

2.  Subhaanallah

3. Alhamdulillah

4. Allahu Akbar

5. Laa ilaaha illallah

6. LA HAWLA WA LA QUWWATA ILLA BILLAH-HIL ALIYYIL ADHEEM

7. Asthaghfirullah-halladhee Laa ilaaha illa-huwal Hayyul Qayyuumu Wa athoobu Ilay

Or Asthaghfirullah

8. SUB-HAAN’ALLAAHi WA BI-HAM’DIHI SUB-HAAN’ALLAH-IL ADHEEM

Or SUB-HAAN’ALLAAHi WA BI-HAM’DIHI

9. Subhāna-llāhi, wa-l-hamdu li-llāhi, wa lā ilāha illā-llāhu, wa-llāhu akbar. Wa lā hawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāhi-l-aliyyi-l-azīm

10. Lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu yuhyi wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyu-llā yamūtu abadan abada, ḏū-l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām, biyadihi-l-khayr, wa huwa alā kulli Shay-in qadīr

Or

Laa ilaaha illal-laahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shay-in qadeer

We should also recite much of durood e Ibrahim which is the durood that is recited towards the end of Salaah.

Or the shortest durood is: Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallim

6. Dua and Repentence:

Almighty Allah says in the Qur’an: “When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on me.“ [2:186]

The place of Dua is so high in front of Allah, that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallim) has said:”Nothing is more honourable to Allah the Most High than Dua.”[Sahih al-Jami` no.5268].

Allah loves repentance & loves those who turn to him in sincere repentance:

Truly Allah loves those who turn [to Him] in repentance… (Qur’an 2:222)

Narrated ‘Ubaadah that the Messenger of Allah said, “Whoever seeks forgiveness for the believing men and believing women, Allah will write for him a good deed for EACH believing man and believing woman.”(Tabarrani)

Subhanallah this deed can be done in EVERY dua and can you imagine how many rewards can be gained for each and every Muslim you make dua for from Adam alayhis ‘salam until now and the last Muslim on earth. This is the easiest way to earn rewards that go into the billions and the more you make these dua’s then the more your good deed account will get filled!

Ask Allah for the help and try to do dhikr all the time, it will help you in shaa Allah. Recite Astaghfirullah, Durood Shareef and kalma as often you can. Desire will always be there, nafs and shaitan is our enemy and this battle will continue till our last breath. On our shortcomings we should repent to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala sincerely. He is the most forgiving and merciful.

I hope it will be helpful. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make things easier for you.

Allahumma Ameen

[Al-Halim/ The All-Forbearing/ The All-Clement]
Allah does not punish us instantly for our misdeeds. Nor does He deny His numerous provisions to even those who reject Him and revel against Him. This adds to His forbearance. Likewise, His wrath (anger) does not overwhelm his mercy or vice versa, in that He is perfectly forbearing. He keeps granting a long respite to the sinners so that they may recognise the truth and mend their ways. What we learn from this divine attribute is a lesson of tolerance, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence. “And be assured that Allah is most Forgiving, Forbearing.” ‎﴾‬‎2.235﴿‬
Allah does not punish people for every sin, He tolerates the minor ones and postpones the punishment for some of the major ones, so that we may repent. “If a misfortune befalls you is because of what your own hands have committed, while He overlooks many (of your faults).” ‎﴾‬‎42.30﴿‬
Allah is provoked neither by the disobedience nor the disbelief of people. “If God were to take people immediately to task for their wrongdoings, He would not leave on it (the earth) any living creature (as the wrongdoings of humankind would make the earth uninhabitable). But He grants them respite to a term appointed (by Him). When their term has come, they can neither delay it by a single moment, nor can they bring it forward.” ‎‎﴾‬16.61﴿‬
As Allah is so lenient, Muslims should be lenient and tolerant towards each other and with fellow human beings in general. It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah‎ﷺ‎‬‎ said: “Allah’s Messenger ‎ﷺ‎‬ never took revenge for himself in any matter unless the sacred limits of Allah were transgressed, in which case he would seek revenge for His sake.” The Prophet ‎ﷺ‎‬ said to a companion "You have two qualities that Allah loves: clemency and forbearance.” (Al-Bukhari & Muslim)

Don’t expect perfection from yourself. Learn to forgive yourself and strive to be better. We are human and we make mistakes. Don’t let your past haunt you. Turn to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and ask for forgiveness. He is the most forgiving and merciful.

I self harm because my sins are so gross 😣

I understand the self loathing that can consume you when you’re disgusted with yourself for sinning. But it’s so so important to realise that this self hatred is a trick of Shaitan. Shaitan sees that a believer is weak with sin and he starts messing with you and putting thoughts of self hatred in your heart and mind.

But you have Allah, the most Merciful, reminding you of the exact opposite. Allah says in the Quran:

“Say: ‘O My worshipers, who have sinned excessively against themselves, DESPAIR NOT of the Mercy of Allah! Verily, Allah forgives all sins. He is the Forgiver, the Most Merciful.” (Surah az-Zumar 53)

All it takes from us is one sincere repentance and He will forgive us.
After all, isn’t He ar-Rahmaan and ar-Raheem?

No matter how big the sin or sins that you have committed, no matter what your past has been like, if you come back to Him with one sincere, sincere Tauba, coming from the heart, He will forgive you.
So repent sincerely, ask Allaah to forgive you, no matter how bad it was and do not repeat the sin. Have full hope in Allaah’s Mercy that Allaah will forgive you. If you keep failing to abandon the sin, do not despair, keep making repentance repeatedly and SINCERELY. Eventually Shaitan will tire of your love for Allah and leave you alone.

My dear anon, if Allah loves you so much to repeatedly forgive you for your sins, no matter how bad or how many, then can’t you forgive yourself too?
Please don’t let Shaitan trick you into thinking you’re worthless because of your sins, because Allah forgives and He loves to forgive.

“The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.‘” (Ibn Maajah– hasan by al-Albaani)

Your repentance will purify you, so please don’t think that you deserve harm and take it upon yourself to punish yourself. Because self harm is also a sin, and you are too beloved to Allah, to be harming yourself like that.
Look at how Allah loves you, then ask Him for forgiveness and find it in you to forgive yourself.

May Allah forgive you for your wrongs, sins and mistakes, and may He soften your heart towards your ownself as well as towards Him . May Allah protect you from the whisperings of Shaitan. Ameen .
I hope this helps, please don’t hesitate to ask for further help.

JazakAllah kheir for the reminder. May Allah swt reward you.

[Ash-Shakur/The Most Appreciative]
Despite Allah not being in need of our worship and praise and obedience to Him, Allah generously appreciates our good actions. By the way of appreciation, He enables us to do more good actions. This divine name and attribute should inspire us to be appreciative of all those who help and support us. “Surely Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Appreciative.” ‎﴾42.23‬‎﴿‬ Allah appreciates even the smallest acts of obedience and He rewards us for them in this life and the hereafter. “Do not disregard any good deed, though it may be a smile on your face when you meet your brothers.” [Muslim]
“Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never perish -That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative.” ‎﴾35:29-30‬‎﴿‬
Allah demands of His servants that they too should appreciate His generosity. “And be grateful for the favor of Allah , if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.” ‎﴾‬‎16.114﴿‬
If you acknowledge Him as the Giver of bounty to the best of your ability, Allah will enrich you.
“If you are thankful (for My favors), I will most certainly give you more.” ‎﴾‬‎14.7﴿‬‎
Shakur is the intensive of Shakir (Thankful) which is another name of Allah. “Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.” ﴾‬‎98:7-8﴿‬

Attach yourself to the Book of Allah, you will find every answer to your question, every solution to your problems. Your heart will find rest, you will suddenly feel comfort only in His words. The sabr you’d been wanting to let go off, you’d find it more in your heart. The very same sabr will become your strength, it will become sweet.

Every struggle will become easy to deal with. Every pain will vanish & you will His love in everything. His love will remove the deepest, the sharpest pain in your chest and it will comfort your heart. Every sin that leads you to Him is a blessing, do not beat yourself over your sins. After you sin, repent to Him each and every moment and do good to wipe those bad deeds.

Whatever you do, do not give up believing in Allah. Do not give up on reading and reflecting His speech. Do not despair in the mercy of Allah for none can remove your hardships, sadness and pain except Allah. To Him we belong and to Him we shall return, everything happening in your life is only to bring you back to Him.

But when you do come back to Him and you still feel this emptiness inside you, know that your focus is somewhere else. Your heart is yet to submit to Him, know that you have attachments to everything other than Allah.

The day you return and submit to Allah wholeheartedly, you will experience true contentment, true happiness, true success. If you don’t know His love for you, everything else that you have means nothing. It is all dust.

Allah is the Most Kind of those who show kindness, the Most Generous of those who give. When you lift your hands up to the sky to beg Him, know that He will answer for He is too shy to let His servant go empty handed.

O Allah, we seek refuge in You for the sins we commit, Your blessings cannot be counted, Your favours we all admit. We confess our sins to You for none forgive sins except for You. O Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, You love to forgive so forgive us. Ameen.

Narrated ‘Abdullāh (may Allāh be pleased with him):

“I visited Allāh’s Apostle (ﷺ) while he was suffering from a high fever. I said, 'O Allāh’s Apostle (ﷺ)! You have a high fever.’ He said, 'Yes, I have as much fever as two men of you.’ I said, 'Is it because you will have a double reward?’ He said, 'Yes, it is so. No Muslim is afflicted with any harm, even if it were the prick of a thorn, but that Allāh expiates his sins because of that, as a tree sheds its leaves.’”

Out of His tremendous mercy, Allah keeps overlooking and forgiving our sins. As our deliverance in the Afterlife is subject upon His forgiveness, we must keep seeking His forgiveness. We should follow, in respect of the Prophet’s example who invoked Allah’s forgiveness:

I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.)
[Sahih al-Bukhari; 8,75,318, At-Tirmidhi; 3393, An-Nasa'i; 5522, Ahmad; 16662]
Allah forgives the sins, small and big, of His worshippers. “Surely I am the Most-Forgiving for him who repents and believes and acts righteously, then follows the right path.” ‎﴾20.82‬‎﴿‬
“Lord of the heavens and earth, and of all that lies between them, the Almighty, the All-Forgiving.” ‎﴾38.66‬‎﴿‬
Allah can punish people and display their shameful doings; but because of their good deeds, He does not betray them.
Our Prophet Muhammad (‎ﷺ‎‬) said: “Allah, praise be to Him, brings His servant close and hides him and asks him: ‘Do you know such and such sins? The servant says, ‘Yes, my Lord.’ And He [Allah] asks him again until he admits all his sins. Allah then says, ‘I have concealed them in your life and today I forgive them.’ And he is given the book of his good deeds” (related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
