all she wanted was to make the world a safe place for herself and people like her

what's a fire and how does it - what's the word? - burn

so i have this disney playlist i listen to usually when i’m driving and i was blasting poor unfortunate souls this morning and i was thinking

what if ariel didn’t sign the scroll?

because she’s about to, okay, and she looks at the paper. the parchment made of seaweed, the ones that’s specially treated to survive underwater. and she thinks of her cave of treasures, her books that remain perfectly preserved underwater. “no thank you,” she says slowly, becoming keenly aware of air of this place, of the not-people she’d seen who hadn’t been able to pay the price for sea witch’s bargain. “i – no. thank you. but no.”

ursula tries to convince her otherwise, but ariel runs. she goes back to her cave, destroyed as it was by her father’s anger, and thinks.

she’s the daughter of triton. her books never got wet, though she lives in the ocean. she feels a pull inside her, to the land, to somewhere else, but what if – what if –

what if she doesn’t need the sea witch or her father to perform magic for her? what if she has her own?

ursula had wanted her voice because that’s how she performed her magic. singing in this cave had given it powers and protection, and when she saved her prince from the sea – she sang then too, to keep him safe, to guide him back to life and away from death.

so she has magic. she only needs to figure out how to use it.

so that’s what ariel does now. she’s quiet and keeps to herself, and her father and sisters think that it’s because she’s upset with her father, that she’s busy licking her wounds. she’s moved on from that. she has no trident, and is uninterested with fueling her magic with the souls of the damned like ursula has. so she needs to figure something else out.

she does what she’s not supposed to do, and goes where she’s not supposed to go, slipping past the guards and patrols to the one place in the sea that is forbidden to all of them.

the crevice in the earth where what remains of her grandmother lives.

ariel goes to amphitrite, and the sea goddess is so much bigger than ariel, the size of great whale as she curls at the bottom of the sea floor, too old and too tired to do anything more than sleep. “granddaughter,” the great being croaks, opening an eye as blue and as unfathomable as the sea, “you look like me.”

“they say i look like my mother,” she says, and to herself adds: that’s why father can barely stand to look at me.

“you have more of me in you than your mother,” she says, and she shifts and pulls her mass of red hair over her shoulder. “more of me in you than your father does, even.”

“i have magic,” she says, pulling her bravery to the fore as she swims closer to her grandmother, “i want you to teach me how to use it.” amphitrite pushes herself up, and it’s the first time she’s moved in a millennia, and ariel notices for the first time that her grandmother isn’t a mermaid – she has legs.

she has legs.

“you have power,” amphitrite corrects fiercely, “and i will teach you to wield it.”

and so she does. ariel spends her nights by her grandmother, learning to harness the power of the sea that runs in her veins, and sleeps her days away while her sisters and flounder and sebastian grow more and more concerned, but she refuses to tell them why. she refuses to be stopped.

but her heart still aches. she fell in love with her prince, and she wants him still. so she swims to the edge, goes to the beach where his castle resides in the dead of night when her lessons with her grandmother are complete, and sings

. she’s careful not to let any magic leak through, only her voice. she does not want to enchant him. she wants him to love her as she is. so she sings, her voice clear and powerful and cutting through the air. she hopes he can hear it.

then one day a figure walks to the beach, and it’s him, her prince. “hello?” he calls out, “are you out there? are you – please, it was you that saved me, wasn’t it? won’t you come out and let me see you?”

so she does, waves her tail at him until he catches sight of her and takes hesitant, disbelieving steps closer.

“you’re a mermaid,” he says, eyes wide, “i thought i saw – but it couldn’t be.”

“i am, and it can,” she says, heart beating wildly in her chest. he’s just as handsome as she remembered, and she wants him just as much. “my name is ariel.”

“ariel,” he repeats, and pulls off his boots and goes wading into the water, watching her to see if she flinches away from him. she doesn’t, and his strides grow bolder. “my name is eric.”

“eric,” she whispers, and when he’s close enough he touches her, trailing fingers across the bare skin of her shoulder and tangling them in her hair.

when he kisses her, she feels powerful enough to undo the world.

so there’s that now, spending her nights with her grandmother and her prince, and she knows how to make her own legs now, could walk onto land and be made a queen among the two legged men.

but she’s a princess here first, and before she can do that she needs to take care of something.

ursula.

the rotten sea witch with her rotten sea magic won’t be allowed to torment her people any longer.

she tells her grandmother, and amphitrite smiles and says, “an excellent decision, child. i’ve enjoyed our time together, but i think it’s time for me to sleep once more. i’ve taught you everything i can.”

and tears prick ariel’s eyes, but she holds them back. she knew that it couldn’t be forever, that her grandmother can’t die but no longer desires to live and this is the in-between.

“you’ll be an amazing queen,” amphitrite murmurs, and closes her eyes for a millennia more.

this isn’t something to be done in the dead of night, although it would be easier to do it then.

she will make a spectacle of it, she will remind the sea that her people are not to be trifled with.

once upon a time they feared a blue eyed, red haired sea queen with the power to destroy them all. it’s time for them to do so again.

so she drives ursula to the center of the city. her sisters cower and people hide, and her father comes rushing forward to save her.

“you’ve committed great crimes against my people,” she says, not flinching as lightning gathers in the sea witch’s hands, “so now shall a great crime be committed against you.”

“foolish girl,” the sea witch snarls.

triton is yelling. he won’t get there in time.

he doesn’t have to.

she doesn’t need to sing anymore. instead she lifts her hands and pulls ursula apart without ever touching her, not only renders flesh from bone but also sets free the souls she’s been hoarding, reverses the magic done to those who’d fallen into the sea witch’s trap.

they all stare at her, her people, her father, and her sisters. she looks to triton and says, “i’m not a little girl anymore.”

he opens his mouth, closes it again, then says, “i can see that.”

all at once everyone’s perceptions are turned sideways about their youngest princess. she commands a power that even her father doesn’t have access to, she’s not depressed and dreamy – she’s powerful young woman who knows exactly what she’s doing.

so she does what she wanted to do, she gives herself legs and steps onto the sand and launches herself into eric’s arms. she becomes his bride, and the rumors run rampant of what she is, of where she came from, but they can’t prove anything and so they rule.

they live long, happy lives. ariel is his consort, his advisor, his wife, his tactician, and his best friend. all those years reading drowned books have certainly paid off. she ages herself along with her husband, bears his children and then teaches them they ways of her – their – people.

her husband dies, and she disappears, like the stories of selkie women that everyone whispers around her. their children give their father a sea burial, and vow to see him again one day. what they know and none of their subjects do is this – their father’s body isn’t in that casket.

she returns to her ocean, her legs form into her glittering green tail, and she goes home. she uses her terribly powerful magic, and brings her husband with her. she went from princess ariel of the sea to queen ariel of the land, and now she’s back again.

she’s not quite a teenager, but neither is she the old woman she pretended to be on land. she’s returned her and her husband to the prime of their life, and as she gained legs to be with him, he now gives his up to be with her.

eric becomes a merman, and a prince by virtue of being ariel’s husband.

she returns to her family and her world without missing a beat, and they all welcome her as if she never left, treat her husband with kindness and respect.

because they all know.

it doesn’t matter that she’s the youngest. when, far in the future, triton’s reign ends –

ariel’s reign will begin.

Cinderella - Jughead Jones

Request: Hi honey ! <3 I love all your imagines, you are such a good writer ! I was wondering, if you could write Juggy imagine, something like Cinderella story, where the reader is shy and clumsy girl, who doesn’t go out much often because of her stepmother and her daughters, but one night, with Veronica and Betty help (two fairygodmathers haha) she go to a school party, where she met Jughead, but when she was leaving in hurry, she left something, and Juggy is determined to find her ?

This was like, the cutest prompt I’ve ever read and I just had to do it! Let me know if you want a part 2 :)

Jughead x Reader + Beronica because I’m trash

Warnings: - Swearing / abusive step-family :c - if you deal with these kind of issues, please tell someone. Anyone. You deserve so much more <3

Cinderella, that was pretty much you in a nutshell.

You walked along the side of the hallway, lurking. You managed to pass through to the high school exit, unnoticed by anyone. Not that you were ever noticed. You could turn into a flying monkey and still no attention would be paid to you.

Not that you cared. You were a selfless girl, kind and virtuous. To everyone else you were the shy girl without friends, too perfect and studious to need anyone. Inside, you were longing for someone to talk too, because nothing and nobody in Riverdale is ever perfect. There’s always a layer of cracked stone hidden beneath the perfectly painted exterior.

The reason you didn’t have many friends was because you never really got out much, besides school. You weren’t used to much social interaction and all your spare time was spent in the library, doing your homework. You couldn’t do it at home, because you had to take care of your stepmother who would often come home high or drunk. Your stepsisters would blame you, and you would have to clean up all of the mess and damage that they left behind or your step-mother would beat you.

That was always another reason why you never let anyone know. You were too selfless and paranoid to make a fuss, you didn’t want people worrying over you or thinking that you were just seeking their attention. You had the bruises and the scars to prove your claims, but in your mind speaking out would just make everything worse.

Still, through all that you had bared, you wore a smile on your face and tried to stay positive. It was all for your Mother’s sake. She had died in a car accident when you were 9 and it had left you traumatised. Sadly you didn’t have much time to recover as your Father followed just 4 years later thanks to cancer. Your Mum always used to tell you to look on the bright side of life, to be kind and show love. All you wanted was to make her proud.

As you walked out into the parking lot to fetch your bike, you saw a group of people crowded around the racks engaged in conversation. You walked up to them gingerly, your body spiked with nerves. This was, as dubbed by Cheryl Blossom, the Sad Breakfast Club. You’d always admired them from afar.

Archie Andrews was talented, in both music and sports. Betty Cooper was the typical girl next door, good grades and a strong mind. Kevin Keller was too fabulous for words, and you adored his confidence. Veronica Lodge was a powerful feminist, who stood up for herself, as well as standing up for her friends and fellow females. Then, there was Jughead Jones. You’d partnered up with him once in English class. He had a way with words, and you couldn’t help but ask him about his novel. His eyes had lit up with passion, a passion that didn’t die for the whole time the two of you conversed. His friends had been surprised at how talkative he was to you, how excited he was that you seemed to understand and respect his novel.

It felt great to finally have someone to talk to, about normal things. However, after that encounter you hadn’t really spoken to him, although he would sometimes acknowledge you with a small smile and a nod when you passed him in the hallway. You didn’t have the courage to interact with him more than you already did. Besides, you saw the look in his eyes. It was indescribable. The same look that clouded over your eyes daily, a look that nobody except those who possessed it would be able to see. The look of helplessness, that behind whatever perfect or basic exterior you had built up, was layered with secrets and scandal. You didn’t want to present yourself as another burden in his life when, without even talking to him properly, you could just tell he wasn’t going through the best of times.

You could hear that they were talking about Cheryl Blossom’s upcoming party. The party of the century. A masked party. Considering your status, you hadn’t received an invite so you weren’t going. The idea of taking on a whole new identity, the ability to let yourself loose without having to worry about how people saw you. It was thrilling, and sent anticipation and excitement coursing through your veins. How you would love to confidently dance at a party, socialise, do things that (Y/N) (Y/L/N) just wouldn’t do… couldn’t do. For once, after all the things you gave to the world, maybe taking something in return and having your fifteen minutes of fame was all you needed.

Your daydreaming meant that you hadn’t been paying precise attention to where you were walking, and found yourself stumbling over a collection of bikes which had been carelessly placed in the middle of the pavement as there was no more space on the bike racks. Your felt your cheeks tint red with embarrassment as you collected the spilled contents of your bag, which you had forgotten to close. It was cliche and awkward, and what made it worse was that the SBC was right in front of you watching. They got down to help you pick stuff up and you muttered your thanks to each of them, keeping your head down. You felt someone touch your arm, and naturally you immediately leapt onto your feet away from the contact, jerking the touch away from you. Your eyes were wide and your heart was thumping. You were so skittish thanks to past trauma, and you felt your cheeks get redder as you realised it had only been a reassuring gesture from Jughead.

He was staring at you, bewildered, as he slowly walked closer and gave you your pencil case, one of the items that had fallen from your bag.

“Are you okay? -” He paused, as if trying to remember your name, not that you’d ever told him. He probably expected you to just give it to him there and then but you wanted to escape the awkward confrontation as quickly as possible. You weren’t sure why because to be honest, you would always prefer to be anywhere in the world that wasn’t home. However, if you got home late, you would just be making it worse for yourself.

“Yes, thank you. All of you,” You put on that charming smile of yours, before pulling out your vintage bike, which you had salvaged from a local junkyard. You’d manage to acquire mint green spray paint and the materials to make a small woven basket for the front, and the result wasn’t half bad. It wasn’t exactly the flashy modern bikes that lit up when they move, but you wouldn’t want it any other way. Finding the time to work for yourself was rewarding in its own sense.

You knew eyes were on you, something that you weren’t exactly used to, so you tried to get out of sight, as you rode down the street, as quickly as possible. You didn’t realise the curious spark mixed in with the helplessness in Jughead’s eyes, and you didn’t realise the suspicious glances that were exchanged between Betty and Veronica.

Home sweet home.

Home is where you feel safe, most wanted and most loved.

Your home was anything but sweet, and you felt like you were living in fear, that the hate your ‘family’ had for you was all you had going for your life.

You walked your bike up to the shed at the side of your house. It was infested with spiders and mice, and if your step-mother was in a particularly awful mood, the thickly coated, dusty floors would be your bed for the night. Lucifer, your step mother’s cat was perched on the door step. His name seemed appropriate considering his demonic demeanour and frequent attempts to claw your limbs out. His gaze followed you as you entered the house.

Empty or smashed beer bottles clogged up the hallway, and you practically went en pointe to try and avoid the thick shards of glass that coated your path. You couldn’t hear the blaring noise of the TV, or the throwing of items coming from upstairs. This meant, it was one of those days where your stepmom went out the night before, drove to the next town over, got drunk and high and then proceeded to have a one night stand with some poor man. She wouldn’t be home until very late the following evening, and you couldn’t help but breathe out a soft sight of relief.

You had just gotten out of the shower, preparing to start on clearing up the glass when you heard the front door slam, followed by two whingey voices. Your step-sisters, Drew and Anna. Whereas your stepmom had physical abuse covered, your step-sisters preferred to hurt you verbally, to mock you and tease you, belittle you and reduce you to nothing but their own personal slave.

“(Y/N)!” You heard a screech from below your feet and you cringed inwardly, as you pulled on your comfort clothes. You knew you should have cleaned up first, but you just felt so stressed and uncomfortable from your fall earlier. Not that your own concerns were the priority in this household.

“(Y/N)!” Two simultaneous yells this time, sounding frustrated. The longer it took, the worse it would get, the more material they had to hurt you with. You hurriedly raced downstairs to their aid.

“Drew, Anna, how was your day?” You put on the nicest smile and sweetest voice you could muster. Anyone else would have snapped back at these sisters by this point, but you were an empathetic person and knew that deep down, these girls were suffering from their broken family just as much as you were. They just coped with it differently.

“Took you long enough, anyways, Cheryl invited us to her party and we need you to do our makeup like the… good sister that you are,” Anna gave a sickly sweet smirk. Your stepsisters had been sucking up to Cheryl for weeks in order to be invited to this party, and knew that you wouldn’t be going.

“She’s picking us up in her limo in about 2 hours, so hurry up. And don’t make further plans, you’re going to have to clean everything up before Mum gets home afterwards or she’ll kill you,” Drew snickered and Anna scoffed.

“Please Drew, we’re not that lucky.” The two sisters pushed past you, before walking up the stairs to their room. You felt your sensitivity levels topple over slightly, that remark was just a bit too far.

Somehow, you managed to slightly bond with your sisters over the makeup process. You tried things out on Drew, Anna would occasionally compliment how nice she looked and ask if you could do the same thing when it came to her. You almost felt like normal sisters. Until you were done. It could never last long could it? You just weren’t good enough.

Drew and Anna were wearing flamboyant dresses, with masks to matched. Their heels were higher than you thought was actually possible. As the two made their own final preparations, you were busy doing your own makeup and had laid out a pastel pink dress to wear. The dress was your mother’s, and you had managed to find it at the back of your closet from when you used to try and dress up in her clothes when you were younger. You wanted to go to this party. Why not? After all, you did everything for everyone else. For the first time, you deserved a little something back. Besides, you were sure Anna and Drew wouldn’t care, after all you had gotten on so well when you were doing their makeup. Well, better than usual at least. That had to mean something.

Cheryl wanted the party to be huge, so you were sure she wouldn’t mind if you tagged along with your sisters. It wasn’t as if you actually had any issues or rivalry with Cheryl, you just didn’t talk to her. You wouldn’t be surprised if your sisters had actually told people that they didn’t have any more siblings, and that you were just a loner only child.

You grabbed your ragged clutch, and made your way downstairs, after changing into the dress. You looked okay, but your mind was on the mask. You decided you were going to pick one up at the local costume shop on the way there, as you would travel on your bike rather than opting for the awkward journey in Cheryl’s limousine.

You raced outside before Anna suddenly rushed up to you, shoving her iPhone into your hands.

“Ah! (Y/N) perfect, take a pic of me and Drew!” She exclaimed, before rushing back to Drew and posing, attempting to stick her chest out. You awkwardly tilted the camera to fit the both of them in it, before Anna raced back and snatched it off of you, flicking through the pictures you took. “Ugh this one’s blurry,” She muttered, as she paced back and forth.

“What are you wearing?” Drew bitterly scoffed as she circled you mockingly, like you were surrounded in shark infested waters. You suddenly felt intimidated as Anna’s attention snapped to you and she began to laugh and jeer at you.

“Goodness (Y/N), is that ugly piece of shit the best you could do?” She giggled uncontrollably and you felt tears crawl into your eyes.

“It was my mother’s” You whispered, not looking either of them in the eye.

“You keep dead people’s clothes? That’s weird, creepy, just like that Jughead kid,” Drew sighed, pulling on a loose lock of your hair. You jumped back from her and she rolled her eyes and scoffed at you.

“Wait… don’t tell me… that you thought you were coming to the party?” Anna stopped pacing, getting up close in your face and raising an eyebrow. You wanted the ground to swallow you whole right now.

“Well… I thought… m-maybe you would let me come with you? I just thought it was my turn to d-do something… for myself,” You stumbled clumsily, eyes trained to the ground. An awkward pause of silence skipped over you, before your stepsisters bursted into scathing hysterics. Pointing at you, taunting you. The tears freely flowed now. How could you be so stupid and naive to think somebody actually cared about you.

“You thought wrong you little bitch,” Anna’s voice sent chills down your spine as her tone turned menacing. She walked up to you, grabbed the frills of your dress and ripped them in two. You let out a strangled cry as Anna stepped back to admire her handy work. You fell to the ground, picking up the pieces that had come off of the dress and holding them close to your heart. You felt like Anna and Drew were destroying your whole world, taking it down brick by brick. When they learnt a weakness or a potential threat, they would eliminate it immediately.

You heard the clanging of metal, and turned your head to the left to see your bike which was being vandalised by Drew, who was madly hitting it with a large metal hammer. You crawled towards her, screaming at her to stop but Drew wouldn’t comply, not until the bike was damaged beyond repair.

One of the only things you’d ever been proud of, your spare time flushed down the drain in a matter of seconds. You stood up and bravely faced your two stepsisters in the eye, who were observing the surrounding chaos with satisfied looks on their faces. A black limo pulled up on your driveway, and the two walked off, only stopping when they heard you yell.

“Why me? Please! What did I ever do to you? All I’ve ever done is be nice to you, why do you hate me?!” Your voice was raw from the crying. The stepsisters looked back at each other, trying to come up with a response.

“Because you ruined our lives,” Anna spat at you, before grabbing Drew’s hand and pulling her away, leaving you to stand there and sob. Your knees collapsed beneath you with grief.

You sat in your bedroom, trying to collect yourself. Your mothers dress was placed under your sewing machine which you would have to fix later. You had managed to clean up the rest of the house which had helped in taking your mind off of the party momentarily. However, you now sat on the edge of your bed, reflecting on what could have been.

Maybe you should have reached out to someone, anyone who would listen. Like Jughead…

You just wished you had your own fairy godmother right now.

Suddenly, you heard a knock at your front door. This was strange, as nobody ever came to this house except the milkman and the postman. Your sisters were too embarrassed to share their address or invite anyone round, as you would likely be there. If it was your stepmom, she wouldn’t knock. She would barge in the door, yelling and shouting.

Cautiously, you opened the front door, peeking out into the night. You were surprised to see two girls, two girls you recognised. Veronica Lodge and Betty  Cooper, who were both wearing matching black and white dresses, with perfect makeup and sympathetic smiles on their gorgeous faces.

“We saw the bike, saw your sisters and put two and two together,” Veronica sighed. You bit your lip, not sure what to say, but Veronica had practically invited herself in and enveloped you in a hug, followed by Betty.

“You don’t have to tell us anything, but we won’t sit here and let them get away with ruining your night,” Betty smiled, brandishing a box. Inside the box was a makeup bag, a pair of white embellished platform shoes, a black and white halter neck dress with black lace on the top, and the best parts, the accessories. A split down the middle, black and white mask. The white side was embezzled in sequins and feathers, whereas the black side was decorated with white swirls and fake flowers. Intricate floral patterns danced around the edges of both sides of the mask. On top of this all was the most beautiful necklace you had ever seen. A silver chain attached to what looked like a jewel encrusted ring, lined with a gold rim. More tears appeared in your eyes.

“Sorry if none of it’s really you, it’s all we had,” Veronica laughed nervously but you jumped on the two girls with another hug, except tighter.

“You didn’t have to do this, it’s all so beautiful….” You felt yourself choke on your words.

“Honestly it’s-” Veronica began,

“Nothing” Betty finished, linking her arm with Veronica affectionately as they giggled at one another.

“Don’t let these people ruin your fun, you gotta go out there and get your man!” Veronica beamed, resting her head on Betty’s shoulder as Betty nodded encouragingly.

Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion and Betty and Veronica simultaneously rolled their eyes with a ‘tut tut’, exchanging glances.

“Jughead silly!” Betty spelt it out for you and you felt your face turn red all over again. “Yes! I knew it!” Betty exclaimed excitedly.

“I ship it!” Veronica and Betty squealed in a sing-song voice. You buried your face in your hands, but tried to laugh it off.

“I don’t even know if I can pull this stuff off guys. Honestly, it’s all so beautiful but it would probably look nicer on yo-” You began but the girls help up a finger in unison.

“Don’t even start with that crap. You are such a pretty, strong woman! You’ve been through all of this by yourself and you never even had to! You are going to own this party whether Cheryl Blossom gives a fuck or not,” Veronica retorted, and you grinned excitedly.

The girls helped you redo your makeup, as you confided with them about your situation. It felt so good to get everything off your chest. They were so much more relatable than you expected and you honestly hoped that this wouldn’t be a one-off friendship.

You were ready and dressed, hair done in a lace braid, necklace secured, feet comfy. All you needed now was to put your mask on. As you slipped it over your head, you felt a surge of confidence and power. This was finally your night, and you were going to earn it.

“Look at what we’ve created Ronnie,” Betty danced around your room with Veronica excitedly. Your sisters had left to help set up the party earlier, so it’s not like you guys were even late yet, and the others were very excited. Suddenly, you felt the nerves rush back. What if they couldn’t get you in? If Anna and Drew knew you were there they would personally skin you alive. Veronica noticed you tense and she crouched beside you, resting her chin on your shoulder and sighing.

“In this mirror, I see a beautiful, young, independent woman who is currently discovering herself. You deserve this night (Y/N), it’s not enough just to dream these kind of things, you gotta finally step out of your comfort zone and live it up!” She shook you playfully and you laughed. This was your chance.

The ride had been fun, Ronnie had her own limo which she had managed to secure for the evening and you had picked up Kevin Keller on the way there, who played a huge part in settling your nerves with his gay humour.

Veronica, being an influential person had also managed to get you into the party and you hadn’t even seen Anna and Drew so far.

Turns out that being anti-social for so long wasn’t a good trait to have in massive social events like parties where everyone knew each other and had plans for the evening. You felt out of place, and everything you dreamt of had faded. It was intimidating, all these masks practically trying to outshine each other. You lost your new friends in the sea of people and hadn’t found them since. You had managed to gain a lot of attention during the night though, which you were not used to.

You currently stood pressed against the wall, drinking the non-spiked punch and avoiding the dance floor. Suddenly, you made eye contact with someone else pressed agains the wall. Probably someone that you would recognise in a festival crowd. No matter where you were you could pick him out. His crystal blue eyes and distinctive grey beanie which would not go off for any event. His raven haired curly locks which stood up at the back of his neck.

Your night (Y/N)

Feeling a surge of confidence, you kicked off of the wall and stood by him instead.

“Do I know you?” He asked almost instantly. Obviously everyone knew it was him from the beanie, and nobody would voluntarily come stand by him, it just wasn’t a thing people did.

“Not yet,” You let out a small chuckle, surprised at yourself. Your voice was deeper, perhaps even seductive. You sounded powerful but your stomach was whirling with butterflies as the boy gave a moment of silence to take you in.

“How mysterious,” He smirked back. Jughead’s mask covered a very thin surface area around his eyes, and was simply pitch black and made out of card.  He clearly tried very hard. “Student at Riverdale?”

“Are we playing a guessing game now?”

“I guess,” You couldn’t really tell from the flashing strobe lights and intense atmosphere but you swore you could have saw him blushing.

“Yes, I am a student at Riverdale,” your heart thumped. There were obviously tons of students at Riverdale but you couldn’t help but get this overwhelming feeling that he knew it was you. Maybe Jughead felt the same way? You bit your lip, thinking about how you just wanted to be at a comfortable home with this boy right now. Like his house, because your house was simply hell.

This boy practically was your home, he made you feel safe and wanted. Although he didn’t even know this was you right now, you were just there for entertainment as he had nobody to speak to. If he knew who you really were, he would have left a long time ago.

No (Y/N), your night! Have some faith in yourself!

“Have we talked before?” Jughead asked again, you paused deciding how you wanted to word this so that it was truthful but not too obvious.

“I expect so,” You played it off and you heard him grunt, causing you to let out another hearty chuckle.

God he loved that chuckle. It reminded him of (Y/N)

Hmm.. (Y/N)

Jughead looked up at the mysterious, elegant beauty behind the mask. He thought of (Y/N) and how suddenly an idea popped into his head. But she was so shy… it was just his biased mind because he had a cr- no, it was worth the ask.

Suddenly a slow song played over the speaker, and people paired off onto the dance floor. The two of you stayed against the wall until you were the only two left. You’d love to dance, but there wasn’t much space left and you wanted to dance freely with flowing motions. Jughead practically read your mind, as he bravely took your hand and lead you out onto a balcony, before placing his hands on your waist as you wrapped yours around the back of his neck, leaning into him and taking in his gentle scent.

You slowly moved side to side, resting against him, only properly moving when he would twirl you around gracefully.

“Do we have classes together?” Jughead murmured. You nodded your head dazily and he chuckled at your sudden tired mood, spinning you again. He let out a hmm in mock thought, causing you to weakly giggle. “Have we been project partners before?” His voice got quieter and more gentle. You paused, the swaying slowing. “Yes” you whispered against his jacket, clutching it tightly in your hands.

From inside, you could hear the song coming to an end but undisturbed, the two of you continued to dance. A comfortable silence swept over you as he twirled you one last time before stopping, his mouth coming closer to your ear and you felt Jughead’s hot breath on your neck.

“Do you like English class?” He whispered gently into your ear and you felt yourself tense. Suddenly the loud chiming of a clock from above you caused you to break apart with a jump. He didn’t make it obvious that he knew, but it was the skittishness that made it clear who his mystery girl was. Your heavy breathing, turned into breathy laughing with Jughead before suddenly your whole body went rigid and your face paled.

“What’s the time?” You whispered, your face struck with horror.

“Midnight, that’s what the chimes are for,” Jughead moved closer, his hand reached up to cup your cheek but you stumbled back, your hand flying to clasp over your mouth. You were trying to hold back sobs of fright.

Your stepmom would be home. She would kill you if you weren’t there and you didn’t exactly mean figuratively. She would beat you until you’re bloody, skin you alive and then eat your flesh in front of your own rotting carcass.

You muttered hurried apologies before racing towards the balcony door. You had to sneak back home somehow, you had to get away. This should have never have happened. People like you don’t deserve these special nights, these special people. Your heart was thumping out of your chest as the adrenalin pumped through your veins

You let out a yelp of pain as you realised your necklace was stuck in your hair. You ripped it out, not caring that it fell to the floor. You didn’t even bother to pick it up, kicking off you heels and chucking them at Veronica as you ran away from the dance floor, from the party, from the mansion… from Jughead.

“Got it,” Drew smirked nastily, as she hit the stop button on the recording of you. She’d filmed the last minute or so of your dance with Jughead and your sudden departure.

“Mom would totally believe she stole all of that crap, including the necklace. I mean she must have. There’s no way that street urchin can afford that shit,” Anna sighed, “Did she honestly think that someone like her would fit in here? We’ll show her,” She clicked her tongue in satisfaction, before dragging her sister with her out the door.

Little did they know that they weren’t the only ones snooping on conversations.

“Not if I have anything to say about it,” Jughead clasped the necklace in his right hand, Veronica and Betty standing angrily behind him.

It’s 2am I’m so dead. This was kind of rushed, I’m so sorry <3

Prince Aladdin

i just rewatched aladdin with the roommates and it got me thinking

aladdin wishes to be made a prince, but all genie does is get him a lot of stuff and money. that’s not what a prince is. a prince is the son of the king, someone in line for the throne. someone with a lot of money is just - rich. so what i think is:

genie goes okay, that’s a big one - and i can do it! but not on my own, not if you want to do it right. not if you truly want a chance to marry your princess for real, as a prince. and aladdin is a foolish, moral, kind boy - and he agrees. he’s fallen in love with jasmine, an innocent all encompassing love, and he’ll do anything for this sweet, clever girl he only knew for a few hours. so genie takes him across the desert, far from agrabah, and plops right in the middle of a skirmish and is like okay, good luck! and aladdin is like ?????

but there’s assholes with swords attacking a young girl, and aladdin doesn’t even have to think about that, just like when he stood in front of the whip for those little kids. there are three men against him, but he’s fast and clever and has been against a dozen trained palace guards. so it’s not easy to get out of there alive, especially with the little girl to protect, but he manages it with only a thin slice on his upper arm, and he’s endured worse for less. so he picks up the little girl and says “i think we should get out of here, hmm?” and she’s in a pretty red silk getup with tiny jewels encrusted on her like stars against sunset. and she nods and throws her arms around his neck. she won’t talk, only points in the direction of home, but aladdin’s okay with that, he’s used to quiet, scared kids. so he keeps up a steady stream of stories of agrabah, which seems almost like this other desert land. but there are more men with swords and aladdin is like what the fuck is going on, but he hides the girl in a corner and fights them too. and that’s how it goes all the way home. there’s no one on the streets really, and they all scatter when the men attack, and they keep on attacking, he fights his way all the way through the city with the girl on his hip or hidden away.

and he should have known, of course, but he was tired and bruised and bleeding by the time he realized the little girl is silently guiding him to the palace and he’s like why can’t you princesses stay inside??? but he walks up and the guards get one look at the child in his arms and whisk him through and multiple people try to take the girl away but she won’t budge from him, a stubborn pout to her lips as her hands remained locked behind his neck. and he’s finally tossed into a throne room where a tall old man is sitting in agony and two young men pace in front of him, each at least a decade older than aladdin. “they’ve taken our sister!” one of the younger men hiss, “i don’t care about their power or their connections, they’ve taken esfir, and we must go get her!”

“uh,” he clears his throat, “hi?”

and all three men whirl on him and the old man stumble-runs to him. esfir finally lets go of aladdin to picked up and twirled around by her father. the two men are rahim and shapur and they look in wonder at this dirty boy of fifteen who’s returned the girl to them, and he speaks with an accent and clearly is not from here and they get the story from him - he’s traveled across the desert because those in his own country want him dead. “you know,” rahim says as the king clutches at esfir in desperate relief, “you could have held her for ransom. you almost died saving her, and we would have paid handsomely to have her returned safely.”

and aladdin gives him a flat disapproving look, appearing in this moment four times his age, and says “people are not objects or bargaining chips. especially not lost little girls.” and rahim and shapur share an impressed conspiring look and they each grab one of his arms and lead him away. “hey! what are you -”

“do be quiet little brother,” shapur says cheerfully, “we really have to get you out of your rags.”

“None of you are listening!” Kara yelled at the assembled women trying to save the world. “You know what? If you don’t need my ideas, you’re welcome to go fight the Daxamites by yourself.” She zipped across the room fast enough to blur, almost tearing the door to the fire exit off its hinges in her temper.

Alex moved to follow, but Cat waved her off.

“Agent Scully, keep an eye on Norma Bates here,” Cat nodded towards Lillian. “Supergirl and I are due for a catchup.” Her heels clicked across the floor as she followed in Kara’s wake. Those would have to be changed out for flats if she really would be expected to venture out in the field with them. That suggestion had been the reason for Kara’s outburst, or at least the last straw across her unbreakable back.

“Go away, Alex,” Kara grumbled, landing blows on a cleaner than average dumpster.

“Last I checked your sister wasn’t wearing Gianvitto Rossi heels. Need that superhearing checked?”

“I’m not going to allow it, so don’t start with me, Cat.”

“Allow?” Cat stepped in closer, wrinkling her nose at the mess in the alley. She made exceptions for Kara all the time, but really. “That chucklehead from Dixon has really done a number on you, if you think a grown woman has to be allowed to do any damn thing she wants. I’ll be a decoy if I’m needed, Kara.”

I went to go see Jurassic World again, this time with my family. And as I was driving my little brother back to his house, he expressed disappointment that the original cast (bar the scientist and the t-rex) didn’t make appearances. Then he said something that set me off in a Jurassic Wonderland of wasted possibility.

“What I want to know is why the two kids weren’t running the place. Why was some strange lady in charge of the park, instead of Lex? Why was some navy guy in charge of the raptors instead of Tim?”

And I just… can you imagine what the movie would have been if that had been the case instead?

Imagine that at some point, there wasn’t a choice. Hammond’s will allowed for the continuation of the park, or a creation of a new one, and InGen was going to do it with or without Lex and Tim, but the kids remembered what happened to them when they were little. They remembered, and they knew it would happen again. Of course it would. But they agree to it, they go back, because they figure that they can at least be there to handle the fallout. So they go back, they help design things, they fight for every precaution and for every reactionary defense. The park will never be safe, but they’re going to do everything in their power to ensure that if it’s happening anyway, they’ve got their hands in it to ensure the least damage and loss possible.

So Lex get put in charge of the park- the computer system isn’t just something she uses- she fucking designed it. She designed it and worked on programming it. She was the one who designed the tracking system they use with all the dinosaurs because she needs to be able to assure herself of where every single one of them is at any time, and she carries a tablet with her that does just that- taps into the network and shows dino locations. She fights the board on every new carnivore they want to create; It’s a bad idea, she tells them. Carnivores eat meat which in case you have not noticed, humans happen to coincidentally be made of meat. She also doesn’t just track the dinosaurs- there’s no way anyone will ever suffer through what she and Tim and Grant did. Every visitor to the island has a wristband that talks to the mainframe and gives their location at all times.

And Tim, head of the animal care and behavior department with his wife, Kelly (you know, Ian Malcolm’s daughter from the second movie). They don’t just know know anything about the dinosaurs; they know EVERYTHING about these dinosaurs. Tim has Hammond’s hearteyes wonder mentality partnered with Grant’s thirst for knowledge and fueled by his own curiosity and experiences. Kelly has her dad’s caution and her mom’s free spirit and drive for pushing boundaries. They are there for every birth, and have their hands in the raising and care of all the dinosaurs. Like Grant, Tim has a soft spot for the raptors, and they have a soft spot for him as well, after he raises them himself, imprints them on himself and Kelly at their island-side residence.

And we mustn’t forget Eric, the kid Grant and his team saved from one of the islands when he crashed on it parasailing. Eric survived down there on an island full of dinosaurs when pretty much no one else could have survived even a few days. He’s the one out in the field, in charge of containment and tactical defenses for when (not if, WHEN) things go wrong. Because they will. They’ve been waiting 10 years for it to go wrong. They’ll continue waiting, ready.

Imagine the look on all their faces when InGen admits that a dinosaur was created behind their backs, a hybrid of several species, because someone wanted to create more ‘wow’ for the park. Only what they created wasn’t what they meant to create. This new dino is smarter than anything they’ve ever made before. Bigger than the T-Rex. Stronger. It surprises everyone with it’s ability to mask its heat and change its skin color. It’s a mistake but ohhh what a mistake- the InGen folks have hearts in their eyes thinking about how they could apply these changes to raptors.

Imagine Lex’s utter outrage at being lied to, but now that the life has been created she can’t just take it. The animal didn’t ask to be born, but now that it has been, she ensures that it has what amounts to a bomb-proof enclosure in a remote section of the island. Heat sensors, sound sensors, tracking device, motion sensors- this thing has got the works in her pen. Lex forbids opening it as an attraction, this enclosure is for containment only. And the would-be social creature, deprived of social interaction with humans or its own kind or with anyone really, becomes the Indominus Rex we see in the actual movie; she does not understand boundaries or dominance or good behavior.

But the movie dynamics are now shifted. Instead of the park destroying itself from within, it is under attack from without. It isn’t because Lex was careless about security. There is no tension between Lex and Tim outside of normal brother/sister banter. Imagine that InGen wants those raptors badly enough to force a field test of them- imagine they purposefully release Indominus, thinking Tim’s raptor squad can beat it. Imagine the moment Lex asks him if the squad is ready for search and rescue, and he agrees they are.

Imagine Tim and Lex gearing up to go into the wilds of their park because there are people stranded at the far end. Imagine a movie where the wholesale destruction and terror are not because everyone is ill-equipped to handle the situation (because Lex and Tim? They’ve made fucking preparations for this shit, they have thought of everything for this kind of situation) but instead a story about how all of those preparations mean shit against this superdino. She outsmarts them like the Clever Girl she is, avoiding traps, clawing out her tracker, taking out their electricity, setting free the other dinosaurs. She talks to Tim’s raptor children, and they walk away with her- imagine how CRUSHED he is to see Blue just… leave him.

Imagine half the movie following two young girls, strangers, who got put together on the rolly ball ride. One is a mechanic’s daughter who can disassemble and reassemble whole cars if she wanted, who fiddles with the ride to let them free-roll anywhere they want. Imagine she does it because the other girl is a younger trans girl who has spent her whole life admiring Dr. Ellie Satler and wanting to be a paleobotanist just like her, but the ride doesn’t get close enough to the plants for her to see them well. Imagine that they escape Indominus by ducking under a plant that the botanist-in-training recognizes as basically a giant ancient fucking nettle plant and Indominus takes one faceplant into it before deciding WOW NOT WORTH IT BYE. And the two girls stick together until they meet up with Lex and Tim who are out trying to find the rolly ball inhabitants that went off road because they are the last two left, and Lex has been following their wristband signals.

Indominus finds the InGen beach camp and attacks with her new raptor compatriots. Lex and Tim, after seeing all the civilians (including the two young girls) safely to boats, split up to come to the rescue, Lex with Eric and Tim with Kelly. Tim and Kelly win back their raptor clan (let’s be real, they didn’t have to win them, they left to gather intel on the iRex) while Lex comes charging down the beach in the original Jeep the mechanic’s daughter fixed, road flares tied to the roll bars and madam Queen-of-All T-Rex chasing after her to start the final showdown.

No giant seamonster needed- T-Rex + Raptor Squad + InGen army + Lex and Tim and Kelly and Eric are enough to bring down Indominus. Barely, but they win. And T-Rex is there, but she’s had quite enough fighting against raptors after the first movie, and so she leaves, heading into the jungle to let the humans recover.

Lex fires everyone at InGen. They go get ice cream from the cafeteria and Tim eats an entire chocolate pie by himself. They call Grant the next day and say “You are possibly the only person who will believe the day we just had.”

laelaloo  asked:

Okay, I'm looking to get a cockatiel. I've been looking into them for WEEKS now, but I still feel unprepared, and I really want to get some actual first-hand knowledge from a person. I'm really not sure what to ask specifically! ^^; Any tips you'd give me, this being my second bird--after a budgie--and my first cockatiel? (Any knowledge at all would be helpful! from recommended cage size to what might be a good healthy diet!~) Please and thank you~~

hey darling!!! god sorry its taken me forty years to get to my ask, i’ve been so swamped at work IT SUCKS

THIS IS GONNA BE LONG

OKAY, HERE IS THE INFO I CAN GIVE YA FOR A COCKATIEL:

1) ALWAYS ADOPT. i know you see that cute birbo in the pet store window, but please, PLEASE, refrain from purchasing him.  there are currently THOUSANDS of homeless birds in north america alone that need you to be their guardian. i know you want to save that baby from the pet store, but doing so continues the cycle.  they’ll just replace him and the horror continues.

2) GET THE BIGGEST CAGE YOU CAN AFFORD! do not listen to what the pet store clerk says (lol i worked in a pet store and straight up i would discourage people from birds EVERYDAY and tell them to rescue and that none of our cages are big enough, and they listened and adopted and im surprised the boss didn’t find out and fire me HAHAHHA) i would go to a bird specialty store to find your cage - you want to make sure it is durable enough, the bar spacing is correct (for a cockatiel you want them no more than half an inch space, theyre little and you dont want them to get stuck!!) i suggest powder coated cages, they’re easiest to clean the poop out of!!!!

3) GOOD DIET IS SO IMPORTANT. STAY AWAY FROM SEED!!!! seed despite popular belief is not very good for them.  it causes fatty liver disease and can make them ill and shorten their lifespan. (rose is now put on milk thistle-it buffersthe liver, as from the shit sanctuary she was from… god knows what she ate so now im in the process of getting her liver spiffy clean!) a good PELLET DIET is SO, SO SO SO IMPORTANT. and dont be discouraged, it is very hard to change a birb from seed diet to pellet.  so you have to change it over gradually and honestly, it can take a year to get that done.  rose is picky as hell, but i found a pellet she likes which are the Zupreem fruit pellets.  they’re not the healthiest, but they’ll do as now she is eating by herself.  i used to have to hand feed her ALL THE TIME like the diva she is.

Here is a list of good pellets!! (from best to ok)

- Goldenfeast Goldenobles (quinoa based instead of corn, i wanna change rose to this when she’s ready!!)

- Harrisons Fine High Potency (start with high potency and then go to adult formula - gives em the nutrients they need for switching. corn based, and not my fav but it is vet reccommended but id say goldenfeast is better as corn aint that great)

- Pretty Bird (fruity and like, kinda okay? its better than zupreem lmfao but its very sweet, and makes their poo colourful)

- Zupreem (available at most pet stores, comes in fruit, veggie, nut, and natural flavours. what Rose eats and its a pretty good food. i believe its corn and soy based, not the best, and there is sugar in it, but its a good starter for your bird as they will most likely eat it because its colourful and sweet!!! from having Rose on a pellet diet - her plumage looks AMAZING)

all those brands come in different size pellets, i would go with the SMALLEST as it is easier for them to eat, and if you mix it with seed it kinda blends in hehe

4) DON’T JUST FEED PELLETS. A birbos diet should be 80% pellets (give or take) and 20% fruits, veggies, grains, and good stuff!!!! making a chop is a good idea, and you can freeze it and take out some everyday for their breakfast/dinner!!! Rose is very picky, and a rescue may be too, but do some research on what good fresh foods are good for birds!!! rose’s fav are zuchinni, peppers, pasta, scrambled egg (shes obsessed with egg) and chinese snow pear!!!

5) LOTS OF TOYS, AND THINGS TO DO!!! PIMP out their cage with dope toys, various perches and material (AVOID SAND ONES, HURTS THEIR TOES. get natural wood, rope (if u know they wont shred and accidentally eat it) and various thicknesses!!!) and im not saying spend a fortune (whcih i have with rose omfg) undyed popsicle sticks are amazing, paper, toilet paper rolls, cardboard etc they LOVE. but also, a good store bought toy is nice too!!! but most you can make from home!! plus i have a store where i have handmade toys, ill be posting more selection too!!

6) BE PATIENT WITH THE BABY! they most likely won’t warm up to you RIGHT AWAY (i mean they might, depends on their personality!) so do not feel discouraged if they dont want to play or cuddle right away. and heck, they may not even like cuddles. they’re as much as individuals as we are as humans. rose is usually attached to my shoulder all day, but some days honestly she just plays by herself and doesn’t want me to play with her HAHAHA. when you bring them home, introduce them to their cage and let them hang inside and get used to it.  sit near them and chat and offer some millet and let them come to you.  its a whole new world for them, so allow them some time!!!

7) and the most controversial topic… TO CLIP OR NOT TO CLIP? okay, my two cents on clipping goes as written.  if it is safer for them in your house, please get their wings properly by an avian vet or an experienced staff memeber at a bird specialty store. clipping them incorrectly can cause balance issues and confidence issues and trust issues. NEVER CLIP THEM YOURSELF AS THEIR OWNER. THEYLL BE PISSED AF. and most likely scared of you. if your house is unsafe -ie people coming in and out, small space, lots of windows, forgetful people that leave windows open, PLEASE CLIP THEM. it will save their life and prevent any deadly accidents.

if you HAVE THE SPACE. and know that they will be safe, and you believe they will be okay, leave them flighted!! it is much easier i must say having smaller birds flighted as they won’t be as cramped in a house as a big bird would be.  Rose is flightless as she chews her flight feathers, but they are growing back.  and even if they all did, my place is way to small to allow her to fly properly so i would keep her clipped for her safety.  also, if there was an emergency - such as a fire - it is much easier to evacuate a flightless bird than a flighted one.  i have really bad ocd when it comes to impulsive thinking and i obsess over how i would get rose out in a fire all the time… so keep a pillow case by the cage, and if god forbid that happened, grab your baby, toss em in the pillow case (protects them from smoke inhalation) AND HIGH TALE THEE FUCK OUT OF THERE. and that would be easier if they are clipped… just food for thought.

anyway i hope this helped you and others maybe too!! im sorry this took forever to get to, my lifes been insane.  please do TONS OF RESEARCH TOO and look into rescues. if you need any more help let me know my love <3

Kiwi: Part Three

A mini-series based in Jamaica during the writing/recording of Harry’s new album. Enjoy. x

Kiwi: Part One // Kiwi: Part Two

“Where are yeh taking me?”

Harry’s voice called out to her as she led him uphill through the forest, the humidity of the Jamaican air causing the material of her shirt to cling to her back. She turned around to look at Harry as he scaled up behind her, his blue muscle shirt showing off the inked skin of his arms. She flashed a grin, reaching a hand out to him as she spoke.

“It’s a secret, Kiwi. That means I can’t tell ya,” she laughed a little, and he reached out to take her hand in his. She gave him a tug and pulled him up to her level, smiling at his dimpled grin. She released his hand and turned to continue walking uphill, grabbing onto the straps of her bag. “It’s one of my favorite places here. Found it a little after I moved to this side of the island, and I usually come here on my free days.”

“How long’ve yeh been here fo’?” He asked, running a hand through his unruly locks that had yet to be tamed by the heat.

“About a month and a half now,” she answered. She waited for him to catch up and take the few steps he needed to before she started to walk again. “How about you? What’s a superstar like you doing here?”

“Been here for about a week now working on the next album,” he explained.

“What made you want to come here?” She asked.

“It’s a peaceful place,” he answered, reaching to brush a stray lock of hair out of his face. “The past few albums I’ve made with the boys have mostly been recorded on the go—in hotel rooms or between a handful of different cities. I loved it an’ I wouldn’t give the memories away for the world, but I wanted something different this time ‘round.”

“Makes sense,” she said, glancing at him over her shoulder with a smile on her face. “Almost there.”

Harry followed her to the edge of what looked like a small cliff. He took a few steps towards the edge and looked over at the pool of water at the bottom of what could have easily been a hundred foot drop. He then watched as she set her backpack down on the ground and began removing her t-shirt, revealing the white bikini top underneath.

Siniy (Intro)

A/N: hey y’all! this is a new series that i started working on all the way in December, but never got around to publishing. Idk why it took me so long, but I really like this story so far. Siniy means “blue” in Russian and it’s of super importance throughout the story! I hope you guys like it! ENJOY! - Delilah

Siniy: Reader is an Avenger with her good friends, but unlike them, she’s not a demi god, millionaire, super soldier, or a science experiment. She’s got a whole other dilemma: she’s not of this world. Things happen, and she finds herself on the run with Team Cap in Bucharest, along with catching the eye of Bucky Barnes.

Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Reader

Warnings: Flashbacks of violence. That’s literally it lol.

The way you met Natasha Romanoff, your dearest friend, was by complete accident. Or so you think, she always counters with the whole “fate” belief, but you knew better.

It was perfect example of being in the right place at the right time. Had you not been there, she probably wouldn’t have been alive today and she made sure you knew that.

It was 2012. You were just eighteen years old at the time and had only been in New York City for three years. It was supposed to be a normal day for you like always. You had just spent the day skipping class to rid yourself of the bullies that followed you around like you always did. You boarded the subway east like you always did.

But that day was far from regular.

Unlike usual, you took a second to read a text you had gotten from your brother. You stopped in the middle of the crowded street and covered your phone with your hand, trying to make out the content. The sounds of a Paramore song blaring loudly through your headphones blocked out most of the noise from the city. As you processed the meme your brother had sent you, that’s when you heard it.It similar to a thunder storm, only there was not one cloud in sight that day. Suddenly, that’s when they came from the sky.

The Chitauri.

And they attacked everything in sight.

You took shelter in one of the antique shops with a few other citizens, watching as the famous Black Widow fall from one of the flying alien air crafts and landing onto a destroyed car below. You winced as she landed on the metal, her head slamming against it with a loud crack. Seeing her state of vulnerability, one of the Chitauri shot at the bottom of a fire escape behind her, causing one of the latches to fly off with a loud sound and slowly begin its descent towards her.

It was pure instinct. You had absolutely no intentions of exposing yourself, but you couldn’t just let her die there. She was an Avenger, the world needed her.

Before you knew it, you were lying on top of her. Instead of the antique shop you once stood in, you both were on the other side of the block, far from the broken fire escape that was now nothing but a pile of rubble on top of the car.

You blinked, and this time, you were standing.

Her blue eyes stared up at you, wide with shock and confusion as she tried to piece two and two together. One minute she was lying on the concrete, waiting for the metal to crush her, then the next, she was on an entirely different street. How was this possible?

You, some random person, had saved her life.

But at a price.

By now, people had come out of the antique shop, amongst various other stores as well, and began gathering around the two of you in a small crowd. Who was this mysterious girl that had just saved Black Widow? And how did she get there in the nick of time?

“Who are you?” She asked, her eyes focused on you and taking in your unnatural blue hair and eyebrows. Her eyes widened even more as she noticed the small, baby blue freckles peppered across your nose. She instantly realized that she had asked the wrong question. What were you?

You blushed at the sudden attention and placed the small beanie you wore back onto your head. You were caught red handed this time and everyone had already seen your face.

Instead of answering, you backed away slowly, eyeing all the people around you warily. They all began whispering to each other in hushed voices, pointing in your direction. You could hear their thoughts as they came to you as though they were being spoken out loud.

Who is she?

Is she an Avenger, too?

What’s up with her hair?

Is she one of those mutants?

How did she get to her so fast?

Being the king of person you were, you did the only rational thing you thought of at the time.

You ran.

It was a week later and you were a nervous wreck each time the doorbell or house phone rang.

New York was in the process of being rebuilt by the government, along with Tony Stark and the Avengers, who was gracious enough. The aftermath of their battle had left the city in crumbles, much to the President’s dismay.

You, on the other hand, had completely shut out what happened a week ago and you prayed it would stay that way. Nobody had gotten any pictures of you which meant that the internet was a safe place. They had no way of contacting or finding you, which was good so far.

You had no intentions of being found. Patricia, your adoptive mother had gone through so much already with moving your family here. She loved New York, and you didn’t want to mess that up once again. There were over eight million people in New York City, not to mention there were probably thousands of girls with blue hair. What are the odds of SHIELD finding you? Slim to none!

You thought about the previous events absentmindedly as you grabbed your bag and headed out the front door of your family’s apartment. You tried to reassure yourself that, with all that happened, you were probably out of the woman’s head by now. She probably didn’t even remember you.

Boy, how you were wrong.

It took you few seconds to notice her, as she was standing at the bottom steps outside of your apartment, waiting silently. You just assumed she was either a neighbor or waiting for someone, which wasn’t unusual. But as soon as you planted your feet on the sidewalk, you froze.

She was a lot smaller than you’d seen from the videos on YouTube and you were a pretty tall girl, but with her killer looks and curves, you were instantly reminded what she was capable of. And you were reminded of how you heavily resembled a linguine noodle.

A frightened linguine noodle, to be exact.

“You know,” she says, stepping closer to you. “You’re quite hard to find, kid. Turns out there’s exactly six thousand and twenty girls in this city with blue hair. But only one with matching eyebrows, too.”

You let out a nervous laugh as you backed away, peering over your shoulder.

“Look, Miss Black Widow Lady,” you spoke, peering up at your apartment warily. “My mom and brother cannot find out about this! She’d lose her mind if she found out I’m not keeping a low profile!” You sounded like one of those overly-dependent children you saw on Dr. Phil and she smirked with amusement.

“I’m not here to out you, kid. I’m here to offer you a job.”

Your eyes could have shot out of your skull with how hard you were staring at the redheaded woman. “A job?” you questioned, raising your eyebrows in suspicion. “Doing what?”

“Joining the Avengers. Stark was really curious when I told him about my near death experience with you.”

“Stark,” I say. “You mean Tony Stark? Playboy millionaire son of Howard Stark?

“Well, yeah,” she says with a playful eye roll. “I don’t think there’s any other guys with the same name out there. What do you say, Y/N? Are you in?”

She held out her hand, but you just stared at her like the dork you were. There was the possibility she was just completely bamboozling you and just here to lead you to your arrest or something worse, but she seemed completely honest.

But at the same time, Patricia would shit bricks if she found out. You promised her you’d try your best to stay out of trouble, but here you were, about to not only break that promise, but go against everything you stood for. How could you explain it to her once she found out? Everyone knew who the Avengers were. Everyone.

You bit your lip as you stared at her hand. You were very tempted to meet Tony Stark, though. You may or may not have had a crush on the guy as a child. That and if she was telling the truth, you’d be able to be a part of something great for once and not hide your true nature. you’d be with people like you.

With a deep breath, you shook her hand.

“Deal.”

Can I ask for inquisition romances reacting to the inquisitor b coming pregnant before endgame? So they still have to fight and lead while they're pregnant and everything

THIS IS PART OF MY STORY! THIS IS MY CANON! I FREAKING LOVE THIS! Mod Katalyna is Inquisitior baby trash.

Sera: “??????? WHAT? INKY, WHOSE JUNK HAVE YOU HUMPING? BECAUSE IT SURE WASN’T MINE!” Despite that, she always places herself right next to her Inky in battle to make sure she’s safe. Whoever provided the male bits for that baby to happen and no matter what the circumstances were, that baby is HERS! She’s gonna protect it!

Josephine: She’s hurt and doesn’t understand how it happened. After they talk it over and decide that their relationship is still strong, she does everything she can to make sure that the baby and her lover are safe. Though she can’t be in the battlefield with them, she’ll make sure they’re as pampered and protected as possible while they’re at Skyhold.

Dorian: Oops. Well, that’s awkward. His amatus is definitely a man, but biologically it was still possible. And now it’s happened. Well, shit. Even despite having no idea how to really handle the situation, he still makes sure his amatus is as safe as possible, constantly casting barriers over him during battle and checking on him like a mother hen every five minutes.

Cullen: He really wants to lock the Inquisitor away until the baby is safely born despite knowing that not only will the Inquisitor not allow that but Thedas probably won’t survive that long without them at the front of the battle. All he can do is make sure they have the best armor all the resources of the Inquisition can get and the best healers to make sure that they and their baby stay as healthy as possible. A family is something he’s always wanted, and he loves them so much, but he’d hoped to wait until after the world was saved. Even so, he’ll make the best of it. But every time they leave, he’s a nervous wreck until they get back.

Iron Bull: Huh… That’s… weird? He tries to wrap his mind around the idea of having a kid. His own kid. To take care of. And actually raise. His kadan and his kid, just for him. The whole idea is so completely alien to him that it takes him a long time to figure out that he’s actually happy about it and looking forward to the opportunity to shape a little life. In the meantime, he’s always in front of the Inquisitor in battle and never lets anything touch them.

Blackwall: He’s… thrilled! They accepted his past, accepted him, loves him. They’re everything he wants, and now they’re carrying his baby. He can have a home, a family, a normal life, despite everything. He worries about their safety in battle, of course, and what the nobility and their allies will say about it all, but he figures that as long as they’re together they can make it work. He’s determined.

Cassandra: Does this make her a father? She’s not really sure what to do with it. Her lover is a man, of course, despite biological differences, and though the pregnancy was far from planned, she’ll manage. Their relationship, though briefly at risk, is still strong. She loves him. She’ll protect him. She never really thought she’d find herself with a child, despite secretly wanting one. She definitely never thought that it would be her lover who has the child, but the Maker works in mysterious ways. Maybe it’s for the best. She’ll protect them both with everything she has.

Solas: Falling in love was unexpected and inadvisable. Getting his vhenan pregnant was so far outside of his plans that he’s actually stunned into silence for a long time. Guilt wracks him. He never should have let it get this far. He should have turned them away long before it reached this point. Even so, he can’t bring himself to leave. It’s not just about him anymore. It’s about his child. He’s going to be a father, and he has as much of a responsibility to the child growing in his vhenan’s womb as he does to all his people. He will protect them no matter what. His barrier goes up around his vhenan at the slightest hint of danger.

Cassian’s breath blew out in a white cloud in front of him. He’d been walking around for hours, hours. He knew it was freezing, knew winter was on it’s way, yet he didn’t feel anything. Not the cold, not the hoarfrost on his jacket—nothing. The early morning sky was still black and filled with stars in every direction. Beautiful and untouchable. Like her—no, not like her.

He hated himself.

What had he done? What had he done?

He’d told himself he’d only go to the meeting to see how she was doing. They’d all had dinner as a group, and maybe it had been the alcohol, or the scent of her sadness so palpable in the air around her—but he’d walked her home.

And with the alcohol thinning the walls between them, thinning the walls she kept between her and the world, he’d thought she’d never looked more beautiful.

Heartbreakingly so, with her sadness and her anger.

Now or Never

‘I don’t want to fight right now I know your always right, now I know I need you around with me but nobody waiting around with me.’

It was happening again. The same heated conversation that broke y/n’s heart. It was the only thing that her and Shawn would fight about but it was enough to make her constantly second guess their relationship. It was bad enough that Shawn was constantly away or with the other one (as y/n liked to call her).y/n didn’t want to waste the little time they had together fighting.

“What do you expect me to do y/n, I signed a contract. ” Shawn wasn’t yelling. It would be easier if he was because then y/n could have a reason to hate him. Instead he looked desperate. His eyes watering, his voice soft, his posture slouched.

It broke y/n.

But nothing broke her more than being in love with someone who was in a PR contract with someone else. It wasn’t shawn’s fault, y/n knew that, and she knew she could trust Shawn, that he was loyal and respectful and that he loved her which made the situation harder. If she could accuse him of falling for the girl then maybe she would have an excuse to leave.

“I don’t want to fight right now” y/n breathed out turning her back to Shawn so he wouldn’t seen her wipe the tears away.

It got to her. She tried to stay positive but sometimes it was impossible. She had to keep her love a secret. She couldn’t talk to her friends about it, couldn’t post cute pictures on Instagram, couldn’t go on dates with her boy friend, she couldn’t even be there for her boyfriend when he was away on tour and it all became to much.

No matter how much she wiped her tears away more continued to fall, faster than she could wipe away the previous tears. Before she knew it she was letting out small sobs that she couldn’t contain.

Shawn stood behind her frozen.

I did this, he though to himself.

Guilt consumed him. He was the reason his girlfriend was falling apart right before him. But he was too selfish to give her up. It was the thought of coming back to her that got him through those hard nights on tour. Amongst all the chaos and pressure, she was the only thing that felt normal in his life. When he was with her everything felt perfect. He wasn’t giving her up that easily.

“Y/n” Shawn whispered stepping closer.

When y/n didn’t move nor say a word Shawn took that as an okay and stepped closer this time wrapping his arms around her.

The presence was all that y/n needed. She didn’t need empty words or unkept promises she just needed to know, feel, that some was there. And right now that someone was Shawn who was all she needed. His presence to remind her that she is his only. No matter what the tabloids write, or who his label decide to pair him in a contract with, she was the only one he wanted.

-

'Been through the ups and the downs with me, got a whole lot of love but you don’t want to spread it around with me.’

Y/n was at her lowest point right now. On the rare occasion that she was granted permission to come to her boyfriends show she was stuck back stage in his dressing room where she would stay unseen by the public. Just the way shawn’s management liked it. What made it worse was that the other one was allowed to be on stage with Shawn.

'She’s just promoting her self like the contract says’ Shawn said before he went on stage.

Fuck the contract! Y/n wanted to scream it loud enough for it to be heard over the music, over the screaming fans, over the pain that was eating her away inside.

She hadn’t noticed that tears of frustration were streaming down her face but she didn’t bother to wipe them away. No one would see them anyway.

Although the aching she felt inside told her not to, y/n couldn’t help it. She allowed her eyes to look up at the TV that showed Shawn on stage with the other one. He was beaming bright the way he did at every show but she was right next to him. Staring at him with admiration. The crowd was going crazy for the two.

It burned every inch inside of y/n. How she had to keep everything so secret when another girl can prance around and show off her fake love for him in hopes to gain more attention for herself.

She didn’t care for Shawn the way y/n did. If Shawn was hurt she wouldn’t drop everything just in hopes of making him feel better, she didn’t put up with all the drama for Shawn like y/n does, she doesn’t love Shawn. She loves the attention she gets when she’s with him.

Unable to take it anymore, y/n let out a scream and grabbed the first thing she saw, which just so happened to be the remote, and threw it hard at the screen of the TV. The screen cracked in the centre due to the force of the throw satisfying y/n.

She looked around the dressing room before reaching for the small wooden chair and slamming it against the glass table in the centre of the room. It took a good four smashes before damage was caused to the chair.

The sound of crashing and banging must have been heard over the loud screams of the fans and chaos backstage because Andrew came rushing through the room in panic. He stared at y/n in shock wondering how such a sweet girl could try and destroy something.

Y/n looked up at Andrew, the broken leg of the chair still in her hands. She wasn’t crying anymore. She felt better. Out of breath but she felt like she could breath again. The weight of the PR was still on her shoulders but she felt something again.

Reaching for the next chair she smashed it on the glass table hard causing glass to shatter every where on the floor.

Andrew’s shouts for y/n to stop could just be heard over the smashing and banging as y/n began throwing the chair against the glass covered floor, but she chose to ignore him completely. Enjoying the feeling of destroying something that had no worth to her. Is that how the other one felt about y/n and shawn’s relationship. Did she enjoy breaking y/n?

Andrew wanted to approach y/n, stop her, but it wasn’t safe. He couldn’t find a safe way in.

A small crowd was gathering outside of the door watching in horror and disbelief as the girl before them tore the room apart.

Shawn had pushed his way through the crowd unaware of what was going on. The buzz he usually felt after a show was wearing off sooner than usual.

“Y/n” Shawn breathed out in disbelief as he watched his girlfriend destroy everything.

He hadn’t shouted, barely spoken above a whisper, but y/n heard it. It was enough for her to stop. She looked up at her boyfriend completely aware of all the eyes watching her and all the distraction she had caused.

How? How could I have done this? Y/n wondered.

She had no idea what had come over her, the buzz was now gone completely. She felt naked under all their eyes. Embarrassed with herself. Horrified by her actions. All she could do was stare back at Shawn who was watching her cautiously as though she were a snake about to attack at any given moment. The other one stood behind him an amused smile playing on her lips.

With that she broke down in tears allowing them to fall freely down her face. Not bothering to stop the sobs from escaping her lips.

Almost as if it were an instinct, Shawn hurried forward and within a split second pulled y/n into his chest. She gladly hid her face into his chest clutching onto his shirt for dear life. Shawn gestured for everyone to leave the room. With y/n still clutching to him he walked over to the door and slammed it shut so the nosy people hanging around in the hallways couldn’t watch y/n in her fragile stage.

Since behind the door was the only part of the room that didn’t seem to have broken furniture or glass anywhere near it he slowly slid down the door to the floor, all while keeping y/n in his arms.

He held her close to him as she sobbed harshly, her whole body shaking. Shawn didn’t say anything, nothing came to mind. What could he say?

“why?” Y/n finally spoke surprising Shawn since her sobs hadn’t stopped.

“Why what?” Shawn asked stupidly. He couldn’t understand what had caused y/n to break down like this

“Why do you have to be with her? This isn’t fair! Your fans don’t care whether your with her or not.” y/n felt as though she sounded bratty but she couldn’t think of any reason how this would benefit Shawn or why he would want to do something as stupid as a PR.

Again Shawn felt stupid for being at a loss of words. He had no response. Not one that would be good enough anyway. He didn’t know why or how he had gotten himself into this mess in the first place.

“Y/n I’m sorry” he mumbled trying not to let the lump in his
throat show in his voice. He knew that if he showed y/n how much it affected him it wouldn’t help the situation.

Y/n didn’t say another word, so many thoughts running through her head, so many things she wanted to say but her mouth couldn’t form the words. No words would even come close to what she wanted to say. She stayed in the same position wanting to push Shawn away. He couldn’t just pretend to date someone else for the world to see and have y/n in secret. But y/n couldn’t find it in her to push him away. He had a hold on her. She was deeply in love with him even though she wished she wasn’t and wouldn’t dare show it.

-

'Never pick up, never call me, he know we running out of time.’

Y/n stared angrily at her phone. She was seated alone in her bedroom pathetically calling her boyfriend who was on the other side of the world not even bothering to call her.

She was sick of always being the first to call or text, the only one making an effort. Their relationship felt beyond one sided to her and it was taring her apart, slowly, piece by piece. She wasn’t sure how much longer she could take and was well aware that it would be near impossible for her to put the pieces back together when Shawn was eventually done with her.

It seemed like Shawn was already giving up on her. She understood that shawn’s life was hectic and that he was busy with tour but that didn’t mean that it was okay to go two weeks without contact. Every time y/n tried to call he never picked up nor did he call back. Any texts were sent when she was supposed to be asleep and was too busy crying to write up a response.

Taking in a deep breath y/n opened up a new text and began typing the one thing she wanted to do least of all. She was beyond in love with Shawn, it didn’t make sense to break up with someone who you’re in love with. But then again it didn’t make sense to love someone who was never around or who kept you a secret because of a career.

Just as y/n was re-reading the text before hitting send her phone began buzzing in her hand. Relief flooded through her as she read the name flashing across the screen. This must have been some sort of sign the universe was sending her.

“Hello” she tried to compose herself as she answered.

The butterflies had erupted in her stomach like never before. It made sense to get butterflies on the first date, not eleven months later when they called to say goodnight.

“Y/n” he sighed in relief as though he thought he had lost her.

Y/n wondered if it was possible that Shawn knew about the message she was planning on sending. That he was aware of the fact that she had nearly given up on him.

“I can’t talk long. I go on stage in two minutes but I just needed to talk to you” he breathed out in relief.

She was his escape. His safe place. His heaven on earth he didn’t know what he would do without her. He knew that it was only a matter of time before y/n walked away. He was just thankful that today wasn’t the day.

Y/n couldn’t respond. Like most of the time now days, she didn’t know how to respond.

“I’m sorry I haven’t spoken to you in so long princess, I miss you” Shawn paused. It wasn’t a empty pause. It was as though he was reflecting on how much he missed the beautiful girl he had grown so much to love.

It had been hard, especially the past few months. but he was grateful that he still had her in some way as oppose to not at all.

“I miss you too” y/n smiled to herself. Just hearing his steady breathing on the other end of the phone was enough to soothe her.

“Okay I’m running out of time.” Y/n heard someone on the other side of the line telling Shawn to make his way to the stage. “But I just wanted to hear your voice and be able to remind you how much I love you.” Y/n smiled again not knowing how to respond. Her heart fluttered at her boyfriends words. He always had a way of effortlessly saying the most perfect things.

“I love you too” y/n said barley above a whisper as if it were a secret. But it wasn’t anyone else telling them to keep it a secret. It was her choice this one rare time.

More voice’s came from the line as well as distant screaming getting louder.

“Good bye baby” he said and with that the line went dead.

She was met again with the message she had angrily typed up and gladly deleted it. Relieved that she hadn’t sent it and ruined what they had.

-

'Baby, I done, done enough talking I need to know that your mine.’

“Happy one year” y/n smiled half heartedly at her reflection in the mirror as she spoke on the phone to Shawn

“I can’t believe I’ve been lucky enough to have you in my life for a whole year” y/n didn’t bother responding to this. It felt like empty words to her.

It all felt like a waste of time. A whole year wasted in a relationship that was going to go down in flames, with only ashes as a memory.

“You don’t seem happy” Shawn said after a long pause of silence.

He was nervous, y/n could easily tell by the hesitation in his voice. He didn’t want to hear her say the words that were on her mind, knowing that they wouldn’t be good.

“It just feels like all talk” she awkwardly said. She wasn’t sure if she regretted it yet or not as she waited silently for shawn’s response. When Shawn didn’t respond she continued. “I mean you talk about how much you love me yet you never put any effort in” she awkwardly played with the hem of her shirt waiting for Shawn to respond.

“I’m sorry you feel that way”. He mumbled sheepishly in response making guilt grow in the pit of y/n’s stomach.

“I mean maybe if you showed me that you are all mine in some way…” Y/n tried to start but it wasn’t what she meant to say. It was by all means the truth but she didn’t expect her self to be this honest with Shawn on a topic so touchy to the two while they were supposedly 'celebrating’ their one year anniversary.

“Forget it” she breathed out slowly realising that this phone call had quickly escalated into a disaster. “Well I better go to bed, I have an early start tomorrow” it wasn’t exactly the truth but it just felt easier to end the call now them go on with it.

When Shawn didn’t respond she hung up slamming herself on her bed. Frustratedly she groaning at what had happened.

The door bell rang making y/n roll her eyes in response. The last thing she wanted right now was to go out with her friends to 'celebrate’ the way that they had planned. It didn’t feel right. She should be celebrating with Shawn.

When the annoying ringing continued y/n angrily pulled herself off of her bed and to the door. Along the way preparing a speech on how she just wanted to be left alone.

“Guys I’m sorry but I….” Y/n cut herself off at the sight before her.

“Shawn?” She breathed out in surprise at the sight of her boyfriend in front of her. He looked beyond exhausted but still as hot as ever. But more importantly he was there.

“Is this proof enough that I’m all yours?” Shawn asked looking down at his girlfriend hopefully. In response she began to laugh causing him to smile.

“You are aware of how cliché this is, right?” She quizzed as she pulled him inside before wrapping her arms tightly around him, nuzzling her head into his chest. The familiar warmth and scent relaxing her instantly.

After standing in shawn’s grip she pulled away looking at him in awe.

“I have to be back in time for an interview tomorrow but I needed to spend tonight with you”

In response y/n wrapped her hands around shawn’s neck pressing her lips against his for a long awaited kiss. The feeling of his lips on hers instantly sent relief spiralling through her body. Shawn’s string hands gripped y/n’s waist, pulling her body closer to his, deepening the kiss.

Although y/n tried desperately not to pull away Shawn did, pressing his forehead against hers so he didn’t have to pull to far away from her.

“I got you a present.” He breathed out heavily, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small wrapped box before handing it to y/n.

“I get to see you, and get a present. You spoil me too much Mendes.” She giggled but began unwrapping the small box instantly.

A blue Tiffany box came into sight once she had thrown the wrapping paper to the side. Y/n’s eyebrows creased slightly as she wondered what it was. As though the box would disappear between her fingers, y/n carefully undid the White ribbon before opening the blue box.

Y/n looked down in awe.

“Promises rings.” Shawn told her.

Two matching silver rings sat on a white cushion inside the box. One with a diamond and a smaller diamond on either end, the other thicker and more masculine.

Y/n was at a loss of words. They where beautiful and would have defiantly cost a lot of money. Far more than she was worth.

“One for you and one for me. They both have lyrics engraved on them. Your’s has 'when you miss me close you eyes’ and mine says 'I may be far but never gone’” Shawn turned the masculine ring, that was clearly for him, over so the writing on the band was show.

Shawn carefully took the rings out of the box and slipped y/n’s ring onto her fourth finger on her right hand before slipping his onto his finger.

“You are aware of how cliché you are, right?” Y/n quizzed giggling at shawn’s small pout in response before pecking him on the lips. “I love you” she added.

“ I know princess, I love you too.” He whispered connecting their lips again.

IM THINKING OF MAKING THIS INTO A MINI SERIES AND ALREADY HAVE PART 2 DONE SO IF YIU WANT ME TO MAKE IT INTO A MINI SERIES LET ME KNKW ☺️

SJM, Feyre, & Beauty

Something I, SJM fans, and Anti SJM blogs alike tend to poke fun at or call out is Sarah J Maas’s tendency to describe all/most characters as beautiful. A lot of people argue that this is a bad thing, and often talk about it as if it is self-indulgent, petty, and a sign of poor writing.

I’m going to argue the opposite. So if that isn’t too offensive to you, feel free to keep reading below.

Can you do Jughead climbing into Betty's window after 1x07 all distraught and crawling into bed with her?

Here you go, hope you like it! Not gonna lie I may or may not have teared up while writing this one lol.

Jughead stood at the top of the ladder that led up to Betty’s bedroom, carefully sliding open the window that she had decided to leave unlocked the past few weeks in case he ever wanted to stop by. Without making a sound, Jughead climbed through the window and made his way across the room to find a motionless Betty tucked into her bed, her back facing him and shielding her face from his view.

“Juggie, what are you doing here?” Betty turned over in her bed to face him, sitting up in alarm at the forlorn look on his face. “Is everything okay?”

“I didn’t mean to wake you,” he apologized, tiptoeing across the room to take a seat next to her on the bed. “I’m sorry.”

“I wasn’t asleep,” Betty admitted, lowering her head back onto the pillow as she watched Jughead toss his jacket onto the chair next to him before turning back to look at her. “Too much to think about, you know?”

“Yeah,” he muttered, his voice thick with sadness as he leaned back onto the bed. “I do.”

“Jug, something’s wrong, I can tell,” Betty prompted, reaching out to place a gentle hand on his chest. “You can talk to me.”

“It’s just all this stuff with my dad,” he explained, his eyes locked on the ceiling as he tried to find the words to explain what he was feeling. “I wanted so badly to believe him today, when he said he was going to get his life together. I wanted to believe that he was better. But things are always going to be like this. I’m always going to be alone.”

“You are not alone, okay?” Betty assured him, propping herself up on one elbow and scooting closer to him on the bed.“I know that’s not what you meant, but Juggie, you have Archie and Mr. Andrews, you have your friends at school, and even if they’re not with you right now, you still have your mother and sister.”

Jughead turned his head slightly on the pillow so that he was face to face with Betty, her eyes full of concern as she took his hand in hers.

“And no matter what, you will always have me,” she promised him. “I am always going to be here for you.”

“I know that,” Jughead whispered, his brows drawing together as he fought back the tears that he knew were imminent and refused to let them pop up at the corners of his eyes. “And I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have you, but-”

“But what?”

“Am I not enough for him?” Jughead’s voice broke as he finally let the tears begin to fall. “Am I not enough of a reason to just try a little harder and be the father I need him to be? It just makes me think that - that I’m not worth anything.”

“Hey, look at me,” Betty sat up in the bed quickly and lifted herself onto the pillows to take Jughead’s face in her hands. “That is not true. You are important, Jughead, and your life is worth everything to the people who care about you. And even though he struggles to show it sometimes, your father is one of those people. He loves you, and he wants to make things right, I can feel it.”

“I just wish he’d show it, you know?” Jughead’s voice wavered, his bottom lip quivering as he let Betty gently stoke his hair away from his face. “Prove to me that he cares about what happens to me.”

“He will,” Betty assured him. “He will, Juggie. It just might take him some time.”

“Yeah,” Jughead breathed, lifting his head from Betty’s embrace and lowering it to rest on the cool pillow. “Do you mind if I just lie here for awhile? I haven’t been able to sleep much lately for obvious reasons. Plus, Archie snores so…”

“Really?” Betty’s jaw dropped, her smile causing the weight pressing on Jughead’s heart to lift ever so slightly. “I’m totally using that as blackmail if he ever catches me on a bad day.”

“Well if you do, you didn’t hear it from me,” Jughead said, his eyes lighting up and his lips twitching up into the faintest smile.

“And you can stay as long as you’d like by the way,” Betty offered, turning on her side so that she was face to face with Jughead on the pillow. “I like being here with you, like this. It makes everything feel lighter somehow, like the world isn’t so scary if we’re together. I know that probably doesn’t make any sense, but-”

“It makes perfect sense,” Jughead said quickly, his gaze locking in on hers and never wavering. “Whenever I’m feeling like this, being with you is the only thing that makes me feel normal. It’s the only thing that makes me feel safe. And it’s the only place I want to be.”

“Ditto,” Betty whispered, lacing her fingers through his and resting their hands comfortably between them on the bed.

They lay in silence for what seemed like hours, listening to the steady rhythm of the other’s breathing and reaching an inner stillness that neither of them knew they needed. Soon, Jughead’s eyelids began to droop and his fingers loosened in Betty’s hand.

“Goodnight, Juggie,” Betty breathed, her words barely escaping her lips as she lifted her head to lightly kiss the top of Jughead’s forehead.

For the first time in weeks, both Betty and Jughead felt at peace enough to drift into a dreamless sleep, leaving their problems to be worried about another day. Everything was okay - everything was better - when they were by each other’s side. If only for a moment.

“I mean honestly, like Lydia? Love her to death, I’d do anything for her. But if she beats me for valedictorian, I will cut her”.

“Oh, you’re going to cut her”?

“Yes. I will seriously cut her”.

“With what? Are you going to make a shank out of your mechanical pencil? Y/N this isn’t an episode of Orange is the New Black. You can’t just ‘cut’ people”.

“Well fine then, I won’t cut her…. But baby, could I please borrow your baseball bat for a few days…. Just until results for valedictorian come out…”

“Y/N…. shut up”.

You could hear the joking tone in his voice, but still, Sties felt a nice elbow ram into his stomach which caused him to loosen his grip around your waist and keel over.

Sally Jackson

Sometimes, Sally lies awake at night. She stares up at the ceiling in her quiet house—ignoring Paul’s snores—and she thinks the same thought over and over again. What if.

It’s not a question. It’s never been a question, because there’s never been a definitive answer.

She thinks about Annabeth during nights like these. Paul loves her, considers her to be like a daughter. Strangely, Sally’s never felt this way. To call Annabeth her daughter would infantilize a brilliantly strong woman who is more than capable of standing by herself. If anything, Sally is hopelessly envious.

It’s a guilty feeling. Annabeth’s life has been hard, needlessly so. Sally doesn’t want to brush aside that pain and hardship just to focus on an ideal. But…Sally was young too, once.

She was young. And smart. And powerful. And hopeful. And strong. She wanted to change the world.

She watches as Annabeth rebuilds Mount Olympus, leaves her mark on this world in a permanent way. An old flame burns inside Sally’s soul.

What if.

alex lets her get away with moping for only four days before she strides into kara’s apartment, a sense of purpose dressed in leather. she shuts the door behind her and, instead of responding to what feels like an appropriately indignant “hey that’s my door, remember!”, alex just snaps her fingers and points kara to the couch.

she places her helmet on the kitchen island, taking a moment to steady herself as kara decides—of her own volition, not because alex is scary at all—to take a seat on her couch.

“Ryan, run!” Y/N grabbed her little brother’s wrist and pulled him deeper into the woods. Struggling to keep up with his older sister, the toddler tripped over his own two feet causing her to lift him up and run as fast as she could.

She had seen them. The wind had picked up and a trail of leaves had started to dance around behind them. She knew they were coming for her. Ryan wrapped his arms around his sister’s neck as he let out muffled sobs. He was scared and so was Y/N.

Jumping over a log that was in her way, she glanced over her shoulder to see if they were still being chased. Adrenaline coursed through her veins as she saw the black horse approaching them at a rapid pace. Sprinting as fast as she could, she made her way down to the creek.

“Ryan, you have to listen to me.” She set him down.

“I’m scared Y/N.” He cried, covering his eyes.
