So will be doing most of the answering here? Same crew from HYH?

Some of us are from HYH, and some of us are not. For now Sydney, Frangi, Laura, and Cynthia will be doing most of the Asks.

So, let’s introduce ourselves:

Sydney (@snqa303) - Fearless Leader. HYH member, Quinnologist, Rupertologist, gif maker, fanfic writer, and worshipper of all things Rupert/Quinn.

Laura (@lalalarrr)  -  Member. I’m relatively new to HL fandom and Rupert adoration. However, I’ve now watched HL S1-6 four times and watched all of Rupert’s movies/works. I’m on the fence about Rupert’s HL status, but not about my love for this talented and imaginative guy!

Cynthia (@lange-c) - Member. Most of y’all know me from HYH. Long time HL and Rupert fan. I’m Leblanc1 over on AO3 for Carrie/Quinn fics (and soon to be a THT fic). Mother, New Yorker, and happy to have a new blog and some distance from Alex Gansa!

Frangi (@frangipaniflower001) - Member. You might know me from HYH, LJ or might know my fics. German, working mom, love cooking and baking, reading and writing.

Cherry (@awisecherryblossomstudent) - Affiliate. I’m a recent arrival on HL/RF fandom scene but utterly enamoured of PQ/RF. My thing is words, and I delight in analysis: analysing Rupert’s words is my heaven. I’ll be answering asks pertaining to all things British.

Angela (@strippedandpityless) - Affiliate. From HYH, but also known as Ideal_Flower over at AO3 and LJ. I enjoy visual sarcasm, lots of analysis, and the occasional photoshopping of Rupert’s delightful head
(and sometimes body) on something funny.

And… everyone knows HYH/Sara who graciously agreed to stay on as an affiliate so we can make this bloody blog work… and so we can keep Peter Quinn close to our hearts.

PS The homepage doesn’t reflect this line-up exactly. We have some blog maintenance to do as soon as Sara has some time…

thank you all for the love & support, babes. you mean the world to us and i feel like we can totally use this moving forward — like all the intro posts and engage with new members, reply to every single starter you see (and special attention to those who have lesser notes!!) and reach out to players you haven’t talked to yet, we know it can be scary but i can assure you you’ll find nothing but an overly excited person behind the screen, screaming at you all in loving caps and you two will be coming up with the greatest ideas in no time ! we have so much potential here and i know we can turn this into the most positive thing ever. we’re only a few days away from our first month anniversary and we aren’t going anywhere !

taehyung’s version of SPRING DAY. For new albums, all the members are asked to play around with the track and create the melody/parts or their own version of the title song. Then the producers/bang pd will listen to all of it and choose which ones to use or which parts to use. The final version of Spring Day that we have now is Namjoon’s melody/version.

Bully me in a phone game? I'll destroy you from the inside.

I once played a game on Android, called Kingdoms at War. Similar concept to Clash of Clans.

Anyway one day I was just minding my own business and building my kingdom, and I got attacked. In this game when you got attacked, you essentially couldn’t do anything for a set amount of time if you lost. No biggie, I’d wait it out.

I came back a couple hours later, and I still couldn’t do anything. I’d been attacked like a dozen more times. Turned out this bullshit bully guild would go around doing this to people, flooding them with attacks so they couldn’t do anything. I basically couldn’t play the game for two days.

Alright, time to get even.

I made a new account, and after about a week of effort - insinuating myself in chats and being near members - I got myself invited to this guild. They didn’t know who I was, of course.

I played nice with them, doing whatever I could to help. I gained their trust and was promoted to an officer in the guild after a couple months.

So now comes the revenge. People would do this thing where they would temporarily transfer guild ownership so they could join another guild and help out with wars. They would only do this with people they trusted explicitly for obvious reasons.

About a month later, the owner asked me to hold the guild for the day while he helped a friend out. Of course, I said. No problem. My time had finally come.

The second I had the guild, I fired every officer and banned all members. I transferred all gold to a new guild I’d set up on my original account. Then I disbanded the guild and deleted my alt account.

They never knew what happened. Game, set, match you bully motherf*ckers.

I was lucky enough to attend the Pacific Rim: Uprising NYCC panel at Madison Square Garden (and sat in the first row ayyy~~) and took a bunch of notes lol. The panel included the director Steven S. DeKnight, and a few members of the main cast including John Boyega, Cailee Spaeny, Scott Eastwood, and Burn Gorman. Here’s my recap:

General Worldbuilding Tidbits

  • Pacific Rim: Uprising is set 10 years in the future after the last film. DeKnight said that they wanted to show a “new generation of Jaeger pilots who have known nothing but chaos.”
  • Previous characters slated to return, as seen by the trailer, include Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), Dr. Hermann Gottlieb (Burn Gorman), and Dr. Newt Geiszler (Charlie Day).
  • The new main “trio” seems to consists of the main lead, Jake Pentecost, and the late son of Stacker Pentecost (John Boyega), Jake’s best friend and Jaeger pilot Nate Lambert (Scott Eastwood), and tech-savvy Amara Namani (Cailee Spaeny).
  • 10 years later, the Pan-Pacific Defense Corps (PPDC) has come together to work as an international fighting force, with all of humanity working together - i.e. Jaegers are no longer coded by specific country, like the Russian Jaegers, Australian Jaegers, etc.
  • This also allowed the opportunity to build Jaegers from the ground up, since they were all previously destroyed in the first film. It was jokingly claimed, “we cancelled the apocalypse and then un-cancelled it to make this movie.”
  • DeKnight discussed how  Del Toro originally set the table with Pacific Rim as a “fantastic visual feast,” so the goal with the sequel was to honor the original, but also expand the universe at the same time.
  • John Boyega claimed that they weren’t trying to “rewrite what Guillermo Del Toro did, but rather to build upon and expand this universe, and where the humans are at now.”
  • Boyega also talked about how he came onto work behind-the-scenes creatively on the film as a producer. He described Pacific Rim as one of the only franchises he’s come across where the fans are hopeful and “sacred science fiction ground."
  • Going in, Boyega felt like he had the same creative passion as DeKnight. When they met in LA for the first time, they went over the specific Jaegers and basically what Boyega wanted to see after Pacific Rim. He claimed that "I believe this is everything you want Pacific Rim to be."
  • One of the goals of Pacific Rim: Uprising is to explain exactly what happened 10 years after the first film, but not necessarily be a complete detachment to the origin story. It was highlighted that there are a lot of young teenage characters in the cast and hopefully that’ll be something that new viewers can relate to.
  • According to DeKnight, one of the overarching themes of Pacific Rim is: "It doesn’t matter who your parents are, the color of your skin, your religion, or sexual orientation, you can make a difference and be a hero. It’s the human inside the Jaegers that makes you super."
  • Pacific Rim: Uprising was filmed both in Australia and China. The cast pretty much agreed that as a director, DeKnight runs a "relaxed” and “creative” set - it was a tough schedule, but the actors all felt that they could still have creative input.

New Jaegers

  • DeKnight called them all “badass,” with Gipysy Avenger leading the charge.
  1. Gipsy Avenger: Has a lot of upgrades, including a Gravity Sling which allows the Jaeger to reach out and grab buildings, cars, etc. and hurl them directly at the Kaiju.
  2. Bracer Phoenix: This is the brute force Jaeger. One of its special abilities, above many, is the fact that it’s a three-pilot machine. Therefore, the third pilot can drop into the chamber and operate a pair of massive guns called the Vortex Cannon.
  3. Saber Athena: This is the most advanced Jaeger in the fleet that uses Plasma swords. Also described as a “little experimental,”  and “incredibly swift.”
  4. Titan Redeemer: Has a special weapon called the “ball of death,” which is attached to the end of his arm. According to DeKnight, this was “pretty damn cool."
  5. Guardian Bravo: Is another brute force Jaeger that has a special weapon called the "graphine arc whip."
  6. Scrapper: Described as a "little guy,” that’s been slapped together. Since in the future, there are a lot of people pilfering and stealing PPCD technology to make their own Jaegers.
  • During the Q&A, an audience member asked if all the new Jeagers run on analog. DeKnight claimed one Jaeger is built on sticks (lmao), but the general idea is that no EM-powered Kaijus will be able to take down the Jaegers in this film.

Jake Pentecost (John Boyega)

  • Boyega stated that he “loved the first movie and one of the reasons was Idris Elba.” So, he understood the big shoes that he had to fill. Boyega claimed he understood this responsibility, but  "we [the cast] all worked as a unit, and Jake Pentecost doesn’t exist without the other characters. This is also a great ensemble piece.“
  • When the moderator asked if Jake is trying to live up to Sacker’s legacy, Boyega jokingly claimed: "Hell no!” He went to explain that “the greatest heroes don’t accept legendary status. It takes a tussle and a turn and for Jake’s position. Where we find Jake in the beginning of the film is in very different circumstances from his Dad.”
  • Boyega described Jake as a “stealer, a hustler, and lives in half a mansion. He’s really a guy that doesn’t want to live up to the Pentecost name.”
  • Jake is bought back into the PPCD in a very unique way through his connection to Cailee Spaeny’s character Amara. So, Jake is bought into this adventure and decides that he’s gotta “step up,” after realizing that the “Pentecost name still means something to people."
  • During the Q&A, an audience member asked Boyega what’s the most rewarding part of being a sci-fi icon. He claimed that he doesn’t feel like one, but working on both Pacific: Rim Uprising has been exciting, since it’s allowed him to jump into various elements of sci-fi that he loved growing up.

Nate Lambert (Scott Eastwood)

  • Eastwood described him as a Jaeger pilot who’s one of the best out there. Yet, he’s still "the tip of the spear,” and really nothing without his best friend Jake.
  • Jake and Nate still have issues in this movie to work out from the past, so Eastwood felt that coming back around and dealing with a lost time with these characters was something cool to explore as an actor.
  • Eastwood also emphasized that while yes, there is plenty of action in the film, it “has a great story first and foremost.”

Amara Namani (Cailee Spaeny)

  • This was Spaeny’s first film that she was ever cast for. So, she was definitely intimidated and a bit terrified, but knew that fans were so supportive of the first film.
  • Spaeny didn’t actually watch Pacific Rim until she got the audition for the sequel, and really took it upon herself to dive into the universe in order to understand and respect the original film.
  • In terms of Spaeny’s film experience, there was also diving into tons of stunts and action and lots of skills that she to catch onto , since she was participating in a whole world that’s already been created.
  • But Spaeny felt that both DeKnight and the cast were very supportive and helpful, whenever she had questions, so it was really easy for her to dive into Cailee’s character. She also bonded with DeKnight since this was the first feature-length, theatrical film that he ever directed.
  • Spaeny described Amara as very “independent,” and super “badass.” She’s also a tech-savvy person.
  • For Amara’s backstory, her entire family was killed in the first wave of Kaiju attacks. So, Amara really “takes it upon herself to dive into Jaeger tech and make sure that when Kaiju do come back, she’ll be ready to fight and protect herself."
  • While Amara’s past is very different from Jake’s, Spaeny claimed that both of them still see a lot of things in similar ways.

Dr. Hermann Gottlieb (Burn Gorman)

  • Gorman said he was very excited to be back in the sequel, which felt like "being back in the playground.” He also joked, "I’ve been lucky enough with this face that God gave me to play a few jerks on screen,” when an audience member briefly highlighted his past roles on Torchwood, Revenge, Game of Thrones, and The Dark Knight Rises.
  • Gottlieb still has problems with personal hygiene. Gorman claimed, “let’s just say that he hasn’t changed his socks since the last film."
  • In comparison to Charlie Day’s character (Dr. Newt Geiszler) who has moved onto the private sector, Gottlieb chose to stay behind with the PPCD and arguably their most important scientist at the highest level at this point. So, Gorman joked that Gottlieb now, in effect, has a "really great budget,” to work with now.
  • However, DeKnight makes it clear that where we find Gottlieb is: “as a man still very much affected in what happened in the previous film in terms of his drift and communication with the Kaiju.

There was a brief Q&A and the last question really stuck out to me, where an audience member asked each cast member to sum up their Pacific: Rim Uprising experience in one word:

  • John Boyega: Unity
  • Cailee Spaeny: Life-Changing
  • Scott Eastwood: International
  • Steve S. DeKnight: Mind-blowing

So, I was thinking, what if our DNA actually meld well with the aliens? What if one of the weird humans mated with an alien?
One small ship is sent to a deserted planet to survey. Then after a few months when the ship comes back, the main Commander expecting a full report of their findings. After the ship had landed, the handling crewmates went to check on their arriving pals and hopefully a habitable planet for the Hababan, recently struck with vegetation diseases.
The human Kaleb, and Çshequk, a new Belhsmadre member, came back all right, with more than that. Out of no where, a small bipedalled creature pops out from behind the human Kaleb. He stammers and laughs
“We can explain?”
The crewmates were confused, their indicators told them that the Kaleb had an unusually fast heart rate and seemed to be dissipating heat, but both passengers of freshly arrived ship wasn’t making eye contact with any entity.
“Çshequk, why did you not contact us that you found something living on Delham 3-54Æ? It looks like a subspecies from…your race actually. Is such strange coloring normal?…Çshequk?”

nurseydex/zimbits fic prompt

someone should write this because I can’t get over how hilarious this would be. i basically just wrote the whole thing in bullet-point format, but if anyone with actual storytelling abilities wants to tackle this, i’d love you forever

  • okay so bitty’s senior year, the only friends left on smh that he hangs out with regularly are chowder, nursey and dex
  • chowder is obviously his favorite because bitty took chowder under his wing and now they’re best buds, but chowder has caitlin, so it’s not like he’s there to hang 24/7
  • he and nursey are friends, but they don’t really hang out by themselves a whole lot
  • we know that dex likes helping bitty cook and bake from tweets, sketches, and extras (remember hausgiving?)
  • so during bitty’s senior year, dex spends a lot of time in the kitchen helping him bake and hanging out with him
  • maybe also to talk about his crush on how much he can’t stand nursey
  • anyways, bitty is out of the closet so the newest frogs are probably aware that he’s gay, and also aware of samwell’s reputation (1 in 4 or maybe more)
  • they come by the haus a lot and see dex helping bitty bake, and bitty constantly calling dex “honey” or “sweetheart” (because that’s just how bitty is as a person)
  • what do they make of this?
  • obviously dex and bitty are dating

Can you do something where the Avengers come back thinking everything is going to just go back to the way it was. With them bullying Tony and blaming him for everything, but SURPRISE! Tony is now surrounded by a bunch of new Avengers recruits that love and care for him and in a relationship with Stephen Strange. And all of them are really protective of Tony especially The Cloak of Levitation.

ReRe likes. ReRe likes very much!! *cackles* And okay, to give Team Cap a break, maybe they don’t come back expecting things to be exactly the same. It’s just that the things that have changed aren’t the ones they’ve expected to and that’s why it takes them so completely by surprise.

For one, it’s not actually Tony they have the most arguments with. It’s just that when Tony makes a suggestion during a meeting, people speak up to back his side up or just calmly point out the risks without immediately discarding the general idea, and suddenly everyone is discussing the pros and cons of a plan that would’ve been blindly shot down a year ago. It’s a subtle shift, at first, but it really changes the dynamics of those meetings. Because Tony suddenly isn’t always on the defence, people are appreciating and defending his ideas and getting into arguments without him being any part in it–and that, frankly, should’ve been a huge freaking clue that something’s changed.

To Natasha, the most obvious change is how much less tense Tony is. He still doesn’t react too well to the old team, is always sharper and snippier with them, but as long as someone else is around, he doesn’t–sink into himself the way he used to.

But even so, it takes a lot of hard, painful lessons for the old team to really understand how different things are now.

The first time Steve yells at Tony in the aftermath of a pretty bad battle is memorable. It’s also how the old newcomers learn that the thick cloak Tony’s been obsessively wearing ever since their arrival is less of a fashion statement and more of a magical item that does not react well to any perceived threat towards Tony. They manage to keep it from suffocating Steve, but only just.

(After that, the Cloak keeps making this really weird noise whenever Steve comes too close into its vicinity, which Steve swears sounds like a growl.)

The first time Clint makes a sharp comment regarding Tony’s tendency to put his own team mates into jail if it gives him an advantage is the day they learn about Spiderman’s ability to web someone’s mouth shut. They also learn that the sticky webs are damn painful to remove.

(Clint also has a tendency to be ‘caught’ by Spiderman’s webs during battle when he gets snippy over the comms. Which is actually pretty admirable, since technically Spiderman does keep him from breaking his neck by sticking him to a wall instead of letting him fall five stores down because Iron Man and Falcon are otherwise occupied.)

The first time Scott marches up to Tony and punches him in the face, Rhodey gets up on shaky legs to stands without help for the first time since his fall all those months ago, just to personally whack the man over the head with his crutches, then call security and have his ass banned from the Tower.

The first time Wanda lets her hands to glow red whilst glaring at Tony they all learn that whatever you do, you do not piss of Stephen Strange. Wanda wasn’t seen for seventy-four hours and ever since she resurfaced, she’s refused to even look into Tony’s direction. Nobody knows what happened, but everyone knows it was bad.

It’s the first time Steve grabs a hold of Tony’s hand to keep him from walking away though, that’s the most memorable of them all. That’s when they learn that as much as their new members want to protect Tony (and succeed to a certain degree), he doesn’t actually need it. Because not only is he completely capable of ranting at Steve until the guy looks about two inches tall, he’s also wearing repulsor wrist bands and clearly not afraid to use them.

(Because I couldn’t resist, I love others being protective of Tony but I love Tony appreciating but not being dependant on their protection even more)
