all jews

It would be really nice if people could please stop claiming that it took an antisemitic joke for Disney to drop PewDiePie despite all his prior racist and misogynistic content.

PewDiePie has expressed antisemitic and Nazi sentiments in his videos long before this incident with fiverr.

August 7, 2016: PewDiePie, wearing a Make America Great Again hat, begins his video with a swastika and other Nazi imagery, and uses a photo of Hitler as a segue between clips

September 24, 2016: In a video criticising YouTube policy, he shows a clip of Hitler giving a speech

October 15, 2016: PewDiePie posts swastikas drawn by his fans

December 8, 2016: PewDiePie wears a brown military uniform while watching a Hitler clip at the end of his video

Antisemitic website the Daily Stormer has also given PewDiePie praise for Nazi imagery in his videos, writing:

“PewDiePie is /ourguy/.

This latest video is unapologetically full-Nazi.

The guy has 52 million subscribers, compared to the number 2 YouTuber that has 30 million. He is arguably the most watched person on the planet.

And he is pushing hardcore GTKRWN materials.

In this video, he calls out the Jews for killing Jesus, and points out several times that Hitler did nothing wrong.

At the very least, he is making the masses comfortable with our ideas.

I hope he keeps doing this – staying chill, I mean. Not going too far. I think he’s aware that he’s eventually going to get banned – if he wasn’t ready for that, he wouldn’t be calling out the Jews head-on like this.”

So please understand that he’s targeted Jews in the past without major outrage or punishment. He’s used Nazi imagery as a joke in his videos before. The “death to all Jews” video that caused outrage wasn’t the first antisemitic video PewDiePie posted. He’s also racist and misogynistic and he should have been called out on these things and dropped a long time ago.

But his antisemitic content neither began nor ended with the Fiverr video.

ummmm???? do people forget that hitler’s rise to power didn’t START with the holocaust??? like it wasn’t like day one he became chancellor and said “okay from now on, all jews are going to be put into camps”. it started so much more subtle than that. he started with quietly and subtly removing jewish people from civil services, from government positions, then from the entertainment industry, then from being on radio, then from medicine and sciences, then from not letting them go to university, THEN the nuremberg laws that officially classified jewish people as outcasts. THEN Kristallnacht. THEN ghettos. and then THEN the rounding up into camps. this all happened over a span of YEARS.

dictatorship doesn’t arrive with a slimy red bow, dripping with venom. it comes promising to make your country better by putting the blame conveniently on the backs of people that are easy targets and slowly raises the temperature on them until it reaches a boiling point. make no mistake. these ARE the signs of fascism. don’t pretend that there’s an overreaction when there really REALLY isn’t.

nick spencer has now on multiple occasions turned jewish characters and characters created by jewish people into nazis and completely turned a blind eye to any and all criticism both from jews and goyim alike

he’s reframing nazis as the heroes of his stories. he’s taking our characters and characters we made to represent ideals of hope and turning them into fucking nazis.

antisemitism is on the rise (though it’s literally always been there) and the very last thing we need is the continued normalization of nazis. like y'all can not accept this shit. hydra, death eaters, the first order, etc are thinly veiled and y'all need be critical of how you engage with that shit

Disney dumps PewDiePie over anti-Semitism

  • Disney has cut ties with Swedish YouTube mega star Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie. Kjellberg has 53 million subscribers.
  • The split came after he posted a series of videos that contained anti-Semitic images, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
  • Disney’s decision to part ways came after the Journal reached out to Disney to inquire about nine troubling clips from Kjellberg’s videos dating back to August 2016.
  • The Journal noted that in one since-removed video, Kjellberg shows a man dressed as Jesus and saying “Hitler did absolutely nothing wrong.”
  • But it’s the video wherein Kjellberg hired two Indian men to hold up a sign that reads “Death to all Jews” that reportedly prompted Disney to pull the plug. Read more (2/14/17 10 AM)

anyone can reblog this in fact I encourage you to because people don’t seem to get it

I’m upset right now. I posted this as a comment to the video, but I’m posting it here too. I seriously hope I’m not talking over anyone in the response that I did make. Please let me know. I really am so disappointed with @markiplier, because for preaching respect, he overlooked that there are people who have been disrespected beyond Felix.

How about you talk to Felix about respect, Mark. Because respect isn’t a one-way street, and he hasn’t done anything to earn that respect from me. Of course everyone deserves the same rights and freedoms, but respect is not a right. Respect is earned. And if Felix wants respect, he needs to be respectful to the people he’s asking to receive respect from - and he’s done the exact opposite.

“Even if you just boil it down to common human decency … The golden rule still applies. You still need to treat people the way that you want to be treated."

Really? Common human decency? Stuff like, maybe, not joking about the genocide of a group of people who have, many times through history, been the targets of hate, and of course, also a genocide.

Joking about something that has happened to real people who are still alive on this planet. People who were affected, by going through it themselves, or losing family members… That definitely feels like treating other people the way you want to be treated.

"Felix is not an antisemite, and Felix does not advocate hate."

Felix may not be intending to come off as antisemetic. He very well may not wish death onto all Jews, I understand that. However, antisemitism is still a very real problem in the world, and is on a very violent rise.

Having a platform as big as Felix’s, and then joking about antisemitism does so much harm. It normalizes it. Whether that was the intent or not, that’s exactly what happened. As Felix himself said, "neo-Nazi groups have been referencing [him], have been praising [him], for making these kinds of jokes.” That’s an enormous problem. And yes, he did make a statement to clear up that he does not support these groups, but the problem that he said something that they outright agreed with, that they could use to say “look, someone hugely famous on the internet agrees with us” in the first place is still so wrong.

“And I’m not even defending the jokes that he made, because even he has apologized for some of the jokes that he did."

Yes. He apologized in the most deflective way possible. He said it was about disagreeing with what he said. That’s not the entire picture. No, I don’t think Felix is actually a fascist, or a neo-Nazi, but he (whether or not it was inadvertent at this point really doesn’t matter) made jokes that fed into those ideals. That’s not okay. A half-assed apology that feels a lot like someone saying "I’m sorry you were offended”, which is a shit apology by the way because it doesn’t apologize for their actions at all, is not good enough.

So yeah, I agree, respect is important. But you can’t tell us to respect someone who has shown blatant disrespect for people himself. Even beyond this one incident, there’s a lot of stuff that’s been said by Felix over the years, for example, the use of slurs against a number of communities, that has outright disrespected those groups. You can’t hold us to this standard of having to show a person respect when he cannot respect us.

I started by saying that respect is something earned, and that it’s not a one-way street. I think we may have different definitions of respect, because I agree that all people, regardless of how bad they are, are humans, are equals, deserve the same rights and freedoms as everyone else on the planet. But in my eyes, that’s not respect.

Respect, to me, is much deeper than that, and very abstract, but essentially, it involves thinking highly of that person and holding them in some esteem. And to do that, to respect someone like that, I need to have that returned in some capacity. I will not respect someone who has shown that he will not show any respect to others who have been harmed or in any way affected by his comments by so much as giving a genuine, not self-serving apology.

Yes, Felix deserves to be treated like a human being. Yes, there are people who are twisting things he did, such as the whole pointing off camera being turned into him doing a Nazi salute. But what he said was not okay. His apology was self-serving at best, and disingenuous at worst. And while you say you’re not defending the jokes that he made, you’re not condemning them either.

What Felix did was wrong. I get that you want to support a friend, but what was done was wrong. That can’t be overlooked. And by telling us to simply respect Felix right now overlooks that what he said affected people and takes away those peoples’ voices. That’s not a very respectful thing to do.

Why I’m not okay with the pewdiepie thing

As a jewish person, I don’t care if pewdiepie is not actually anti-semitic. I don’t care if it was just a joke, I don’t care if it was “out of context” on the media. It doesn’t matter. It’s worse enough with the context.

The guy has 50 million subscribers, you don’t put that kind of message and laugh it off. You don’t help normalizing this kind of stuff. It’s fucked up.

There is an ENDLESS LIST of stupid funny shit you can have them write on that sign, was “death to all jews” really necessary?

Death to all jews it’s not just some thing people said 70 years ago - No, we actually get it a lot. There are probably people out there who watch this video and smile because here is their stupid fucking radical opinion on a popular video. (the daily stormer actually calls him “our guy”).

This sentence is not supposed to look like a joke to you, or something that can be used for a stupid meme. Please don’t be forgiving towards anti Semitic remarks while Antisemitism is clearly alive and well.

readerofthewilderwest  asked:

Is the Cohort in Lord of Shadows inspired by the reactions people have had to certain oranges?

Love the careful language :) If you’re asking whether the Cohort subplot of Lord of Shadows is meant to reference our current political situation, the answer is yes.

I had finished Lady Midnight and was working on Lord of Shadows when the terror attack in Paris occurred and then-candidate Donald Trump started talking about registering Muslims. At that point I already knew that one of the villains of the Dark Artifices was going to be the Cohort, an extremist group. I had written about the Cold Peace in City of Heavenly Fire, knowing that sweeping discriminatory resolutions tend to embolden those who are already prejudiced. There’s always been commentary in the books about how “the Clave is bigoted” and “the Clave tries to restrict people’s rights,” and that’s always been shorthand for “those in power in the Clave” — but to be fair, in actuality the Clave is made up of a wide variety of people with many differing beliefs and opinions. The Cohort, on the other hand, is in a way a rebirth of The Circle, in that it is a group within the Clave that has united behind their strongly-held discriminatory beliefs.

Hearing talk of registries was (and is) distressing to me as it is to so many of us. I am concerned for vulnerable populations that are being targeted, and also it brings to mind a horrifying chapter in the history of my own family and so many other families as well. Many people in my grandparents’ and great-grandparents’ generation died in the Holocaust. As early as 1938 the Nazis demanded that all Jews register with the authorities. Later, those registration records were used to draw up deportation lists used to send people to concentration camps. When I go to Eastern Europe now, and read the lists of the deported, I imagine the ghosts of my family, all the great-aunts and uncles that were, and the cousins that will never be, all around me.

Even in a world with demons, sometimes the scariest monsters are the human ones.

Do I seriously have to defend this fucker? Yeah, I do. Shit. (Lady's Thoughts)

Don’t read if you get easily offended, butthurt, or unable to comprehend another human being’s opinions.

Apparently, nobody is allowed to make offensive jokes because it’s “normalizing” and “just as bad” as actually doing the offensive thing!

Okay then. Let’s play this game.

No more murder jokes.
No more suicide jokes.
No more man jokes.
No more Trump jokes.
No more patriarchy jokes.
No more conservative jokes.
No more Christian jokes.
No more jokes that reference your mental illnesses.
No more Republican jokes.
No more penis jokes.
No more any offensive jokes–ever.

Why? Because it might hurt someone’s feelings and it will normalize hatred against white men or people who’s family has been murdered.

Only puns and good old fashioned humour, like Leave It to Beaver.

Oh, and while we’re at it:
No more plane jokes.
No more sex jokes.
No more America jokes.
No more jokes with coarse language, like shit, tits, cock, cunt, cum, fuck, etc.
No more jokes that could offend anyone at any given time ever.

That means no more jokes about any tragedy or bad things. Even if those things are personal, because it could trigger son or make them feel bad.

How about no humour at all? Even chickens crossing roads could offend someone whose pet chicken died when it got loose onto the highway.

Tumblr wouldn’t last a week.

Now, do I dislike certain jokes? Do I think some are garbage and tasteless? Of course I do. I hated that “All Jews must die” joke. But did you know what I did? I rolled my eyes and moved right along. That’s what adults do. They go on about their lives when they see something or hear something that they do not like. A joke won’t kill a Jewish person. A bullet does. And guess what? All of this attention on Felix for a bad joke is turning your backs on REAL crimes against Jews RIGHT. NOW. I bet your ass right now some little Jewish girl just got shot in the fucking face over Bast knows where while y'all are harping on ONE ignorant fuckface for making a 4chan joke. (Let’s also not forget that the man is known for making offensive jokes.)

Do you have any idea how many fat jokes I hear? How many gay jokes and witch jokes? Do you see me shitting myself and saying that their preferred brand of humour is encouraging witch hunts? Fuck. No.

It’s like saying South Park or Family Guy promotes domestic violence because of their abuse jokes.

This is a Swedish dumbass who’s job is to sit his ass in front of a telly all day, not fucking Hitler or a Grand Wizard of the goddamn KKK.

Should he be condemned? Yes. To this extent? Take your meds if you think so.

Bad humour and bad things will always exist, and no matter how much you want those things to disappear, they won’t. It has been proven to us time and time again that the more that you suppress an ideology and try to censor it, the worse it becomes. Look at how Trump got to office. (Also, because of all of this hubbub, a shit storm of actual antisemites have come out of the woodwork. If you would have left him alone, this shit wouldn’t have happened. Woopsies, right? Fuck you.)

No wonder people hate fucking liberals. Bunch of whiny ass pussies that need to have their coffee taken away from them and actually show them what REAL antisemitism is. They’d think that Pewds is the funniest bastard in the world after they’re done witnessing the horror of what other countries think of Jews and what they do to them.

I’m taking a shower. Fuck this. If you disagree with me, I’m not sorry. If you feel the need to unfollow me, then you aren’t a very strong person. At all.

Pewdiepie’s response video to all his controversy was pretty normal at first and made me think that he’s just a relatively ignorant guy who isn’t smart enough to wield his influence properly, but THEN he said that making horribly offensive jokes doesn’t normalize hatred and I’m like…. No that’s literally exactly what they do especially when being told to an impressionable teenage audience of literally MILLIONS.

PewDiePie’s “apology” for Nazi jokes shows that he still doesn’t get it

  • Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg, the most popular and well-paid vlogger on YouTube, has finally responded being canned by Disney and YouTube Red were  over his use of Nazi imagery in several videos.
  • His statement leaves a lot to be desired.
  • In the video, titled “My Response,” Kjellberg apologizes for the offensive material — in particular, for a video in which he paid a service $5 so that two men would dance around holding a sign that read “Death to All Jews” — saying that he will use the criticism as a “learning experience.”
  • Though Kjellberg apologizes for crossing a line, he frames the severing of his contracts as an unfair “attack” from the Wall Street Journal — an issue he thinks is rooted in the media world’s fundamental misunderstanding of the YouTube community. Read more (Opinion)

YouTube's biggest star PewDiePie causes controversy with 'Death to all Jews' video
World's most popular YouTuber lands himself in hot water again.

The performers, who call themselves “funnyguys”, advertise that they will paint any message on their body in exchange for money while dancing in the jungle.

While many choose their own name or a funny message, PewDiePie jokingly asked the pair to display: “DEATH TO ALL JEWS”.

He published the resulting clip, showing them dancing and laughing while holding the antisemitic message above their heads, on his YouTube channel.

While some fans found the clip funny, others said the star had gone too far.

Despite requesting the hateful message to be displayed, and publishing the resulting video, PewDiePie apologised to fans at the end of the video – but still gave the performers a five-star rating.

He said: “I am sorry. I didn’t think they would actually do it. I feel partially responsible. I mean I’ve got to give them five stars for an outstanding experience because at least they did what I asked.”

He added: “I don’t feel good. I don’t feel too proud of this, I’m not gonna lie. I’m not antisemitic, or whatever it’s called, okay so don’t get the wrong idea. It was a funny meme, and I didn’t think it would work, okay. I swear I love jews, I love ‘em.

"I am so sorry. I don’t know what else to say.”

pewdiepie paid some guys actual money to hold up a sign that said “DEATH TO ALL JEWS”, published it, gave them a 5-star rating, and then tried to shrug off any responsibility by saying he didn’t think they would really do it. he even says he only feels “partially” responsible and he’s “not antisemitic” despite the fact that he 1) posted this video so close to a surge in antisemitic hate crimes following trump’s election and 2) posted this video at all.

this isn’t funny, this isn’t satire, it’s gross and hateful shock humor at the expense of people who are already unsafe with the increasingly emboldened neo nazis–i mean, “alt right”. it’s not defensible. stop supporting him.

When Spicer says “Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons against his own people,” I hear you’re not people.

When people claim that Pewdiepie’s “joke,” which revolved around the phrase “Death to All Jews,” was merely stupid and not antisemitic, I hear I don’t care if you die.
